After extensive renovations, the classic downtown luxury hotel has reopened with a totally refreshed interior and revamped decor, including a brand new lobby bar and cocktail lounge.

The Georgia Bar at the Rosewood Hotel Georgia, 901 W Georgia St, Vancouver (Downtown), BC V6C 1P7, Canada

We were looking for some place special to go for after dinner drinks and were drawn to the Rosewood Hotel Georgia. The recently renovated five-star hotel is considered one of the best, most elegant hotels in Vancouver. It’s centrally located near the Fairmont and Vancouver Art Gallery.

The Georgia Bar opened last year in the hotel lobby. It looks like someone’s fancy library/study from the 1920’s, with dark wood panelling, a marble-topped bar, a fireplace, chandelier, velvet chairs, marble tabletops, and a color scheme of copper and forest green. Every table had fresh flowers. They also had live music.

I approve of the coffee table book, Coolness, with a picture of Alain Delon on the cover.

The menu included cocktails, snacks (e.g., charcuterie, pani puri, wagyu katsu sando, truffle fries, caviar), spirits, wine, digestif, and refreshers (non-alcoholic). The snacks sounded tasty.

Our picks:

Knob Creek Whiskey: served in glass with chilled marble bottom

Prosecco from Italy ($16 CAD): very heavy glass with thin stem, generous amount

We received complimentary snacks: wasabi peas and rice crackers, BBQ roasted almonds. Service was gracious and we never felt rushed. The snacks could have been more creative. I do love wasabi peas though.
