Here is my Christmas build:
My take on Rosehill Cottage from the movie "The Holiday"
(Everyone rolling their eyes going "Not a ANOTHER Rosehill Cottage" 🙄😂)
I was almost finished building, when it came to me that I am probably not the first to have had THAT idea 🙈 I actually had a good laugh at the fact, that it took me so long to think of that 😂
So I asked the googler: turns out there are at least 5 other versions of Rosehill Cottage out there for the Sims 3... 😭😂
And then, the other day, I had @aistromelia's post pop up in my feed with gifs from another Rosehill Cottage inspired build with the exact same Christmas tree I used in the exact same location where I placed it in my version 🙈🙈 If you haven't yet, take a look at their post here! The gifs look absolutely amazing 😍😍😍 By that time I was already done playtesting my house, and had taken all the screenshots...
But I decided to go ahead with sharing it anyway. I had spent so much time on this build, and I had an absolute blast building and decorating it! One of the most fun builds I've ever done! It really helped me get into the Christmas Spirit! I figured that everyone's interpretation of this little cottage is going to be different anyway (except for the Christmas tree, apparently 😆)...

I highly recommend you use a mod that prevents objects from catching fire when placed near fireplaces like this one by @danjaley here. I placed several objects very close to the fireplaces and without a mod like this the house will turn into a charred pile of rubble in no time 😂
As with all my recent builds, I did use @omedapixel's Sims 3 Decorator Tools Mod. You don't necessarily need the mod to use the lot. As long as you do not move the objects that were placed with the mod, everything should stay in place. Only if you do some redecorating, and you happen to move one of the mentioned objects, they may slip back into normal mode and you will only be able to place them back with the mod.

“Rosehill Cottage” | The Holiday (2006)
The entirety of this “cottage” (even the exterior) was made up. Even if totally make-believe, still undeniably cosy!

Hi Rosa, congratulations on your first home! I’m happy for you and can’t wait to see how you will style your interior. As a single person in the uk, I’m currently saving for my first home as well and can’t help but feel guilty spending money on hobbies like books and trying different cafes, so I end up never leaving the house. 😭 How do you balance saving and treating yourself? Do you ever feel guilt?
Thank you! I love my crooked old house, we have a lot of work to do to make it lovely, but it feels like a cottage in the city, so we’re using Rosehill Cottage from The Holiday as our inspiration!
I feel guilt all the time! But hobbies / mental health are way more important than home ownership in my opinion. You can put limitations on yourself so it’s more reasonable. For example I love going out for a coffee, but I only do it once a week (otherwise it’s home coffee or office coffee!). I buy books, but only when there are special sales/discounts on them! I rarely buy clothes/shoes/jewelry in general. Everything in moderation, and your down payment will build slowly but surely.

2001 a High School Odyssey 420 Fantasy Island Enemies to Lovers Cottage Series (this is my newest WIP as I've finished one recently)
Ray chattered happily about Rosehill Cottage. David could not focus. They were finally at their walkthrough! Soon they would have a house together, a home! Soon they would be married! There was just a lot going on all at once. His sweet Patrick pressed a calming hand on his back. "I've already checked, there are no moths inside."
I'll tag 5 people. No pressure. @apothecarose, @ramonaflow @mallpretzles, @statueinthestone, @smblmn

McCormack Legacy | Generation 1 | 1890s
Mary Anne McCormack (née Bradley) and Thomas George McCormack were two that couldn't be more different from one another.
Thomas was a lonesome fella, but hardworking and ambitious non the less. Being left an orphan, he left the family home at just 14 in search for work and fortune in Windenburg, where he spent his young years working for various families as a handyman. At age twenty he started working for the Bradley's, who offered him a handsome pay.
Mary, on the other hand, was a very eccentric young girl; bold and imaginative, ever the social butterfly, she dreamt of romance more than anything. Being the daughter of one of the most notorious families in Windenburg, she never tought she would've met the one that stole her heart in the stables of her family mansion.
The two fell in love instantly and kept their scandalous relationship a secret for a year, until they couldn't anymore. Knowing the disapproval of Mary's family, they run away to the neighbouring village of Henford-on-Bagley where Thomas managed to buy a rundown cottage in the city centre where they could finally start their new life.

10. Sure, Amanda's Los Angeles home is gorgeous, but Iris' cute country cottage was the real swoonworthy location among the crew. After initially finding a charming home, the producers decided to build their own so they could be closer to London.Calling Meyers "a perfectionist," Law explained during a November 2024 appearance on BBC Radio 2’s The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show, “She toured the whole area and didn’t quite find the chocolate box cottage she was looking for. So she just hired a field and drew it and had someone build it.”The production team created Rosehill Cottage in only two weeks, with Meyers saying in a DVD feature, "We built that wall and we put in those trees. It really was just an empty field. It was a real tourist attraction while it was there."Unfortunately, the building was torn down after filming and all of the interior scenes were done on a sound stage in Culver City, Calif. Thus, Meyers instructed her cinematographer Dean Cundey not to take any wide shots inside the cottage so it would feel small and cozy.11. One of the film's most iconic moments is Law's Mr. Napkinhead performance, with a majority of the scene being improvised, according to Miffy Englefield, who beat out over 2,500 actresses to play Graham's daughter, Sophie. Englefield revealed to Vulture that Law came up with the line about smoking being bad for you, while Englefield genuinely told Diaz that the bit was "so funny, you'll fall off your chair."
