🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
Yesterday, January 7, 2020, a wonderful person and writer you may know as RoseGardenTwilight passed away unexpectedly. She was best known for her Miraculous Ladybug fanfiction such as Satisfied, A Moment in Time, and her most recent and incomplete project, Frequency. She was an incredible friend and fiercely supportive of her fellow writers. She loved love stories, especially telling them. She always took the time and effort to make her life fun and joyful, and did the same for those around her.
We're going to miss you. Thanks for everything.

Eulogy to RoseGardenTwilight
As some of you may have heard, the ML fandom lost @rosegardentwilight, aka Carolyn, on January 7, 2020.
I knew her personally, and have taken her loss pretty hard. Here’s a copy of the eulogy I read at her service.
There are moments that the words don't reach
There is suffering too terrible to name
You hold your child as tight as you can
And push away the unimaginable
Every story of friendship begins with a meeting. And ours was the very definition of serendipitous fate. Thirteen months ago, I joined a type of chat group for a television show we both enjoyed. That group consisted of approximately forty people from all over the world. From Australia to England, from Hawaii to Germany, from Poland to the Philippines. Forty of us scattered across the globe brought together by our love for this TV show – and of writing.
Twenty four hours after joining, I discovered another Floridian in the group. Further questioning revealed that we both lived near Orlando. During my lunch break, I posted a picture of a bulletin board near my desk with the heading:
“Someone who works here is a fan, laughing face emoji.”
And she replied, “You're not going to believe this. I'm 99% positive we work at the same place.”
Astonishingly, it was true; we did work together. We quickly took our chat private, exchanging names and comparing schedules. And during my final break, we met and uploaded to our server the first of many pictures we would take together, with the heading “When the world is small enough that you work at the same place.”
Her final break overlapped with the last fifteen minutes of my lunch, so everyday we sat outside and talked. We recommended shows to each other, watched them together, exchanged fan theories and exclaimed over new developments. We plotted and brainstormed and wrote our stories, fifteen minutes of each day together – but endless hours of texting. Outside of work, of course.
And it wasn't just texting. From everyday activities like getting Bruster's ice cream after work, to weekend dinners of crepes, to just hanging out at each others' homes and talking for much longer than fifteen minutes, we built our friendship one memory at a time.
One of the prevailing themes in our TV show is love. “The power of love always so strong.” And it fits Carolyn perfectly. She found love everywhere in the world, and she didn't hesitate to give that love out to everyone. Among our fellow writers when those nasty insecurities liked to wiggle in someone's brain and whisper “you're not good enough. Not talented enough. Not interesting enough. Just... not,” she would be the first to stand up to them and shout “No! You ARE talented. You ARE interesting! Your writing is amazing and beautiful and you should never give up and I'll be right here with you to beat those insecurities back down!” Whenever anyone started to drown in self-doubt, she was there, reaching out a hand to pull them up again. She was the first person to greet new members of the group. She was the first to say hello in the morning and to wish you a good day. She always had a word of encouragement for you, just when you needed it.
We managed to cram a lifetime of memories into those thirteen months. We had a lot of “firsts”. First time going to the Scottish Highland Games.
First time going to Dapper Day at Disney.
First time seeing a play – Percy Jackson.
First birthdays, when she covered my desk with balloons and a cake she had baked,
and I did the same with cupcakes and balloons to her.
First time going to Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween party.
First time attending a fan convention together.
It was through these many “firsts” that very quickly she went from “awesome work friend” to “best friend”.
We planned for many “seconds”, and “thirds”, and so much more. And while I am heartbroken that we will never again share moments like these, I have never been more grateful for the times we did spend together.
We had plenty of firsts. And there will be no seconds. But I will always cherish everything we did together.
Carolyn, you will always and forever be, Miraculous.

My amazing friend, @mermaidyarn, wrote a oneshot for @rosegardentwilight. They are both amazing people. I’m sad that Rosegardentwilight is no longer with us. It was a shock to find out that she had passed. I cried editing this story. I cried drawing this. Cried reading the note that Mermaidyarn wrote.
When Mermaidyarn told me about this story idea... I told her that she should write it and post it. I’m so glad that she did. It takes a lot of courage to do that and I’m so happy that she did. It’s such a cute and funny story. As soon as, she ran the story by me I wanted to draw this. So, here is ‘Yarndrien’. XD
Mermaidyarn’s amazing one shot: Linen and Silk

For the drabble challenge: 14 :)
I apologize that this took so long to do, but I hope you enjoy it anyway.
Prompt 14: Fire! Fire! Fire!
“Fire! Fire! Fire!” Chat bounded across the kitchen through the thick smoke. How did everything go so wrong? Tom had offered to help him make some chocolate croissants from Ladybug, but from the start, everything had failed miserably. At a certain point, Tom was doing most of the work. He must have done something wrong from the transition to put the dough into the oven. How could Ladybug fall for him, if he couldn’t do something as simple as following directions?
“What happened?” Tom demanded after the small flame extinguished.
Chat’s ears drooped. Tom had boasted that the Dupain-Cheng bakery hadn’t experienced a fire in years. The fact that he broke that record when Marinette was upstairs made his heart race. Not that he couldn’t have rescued her, but the guilt would have weighed on him for years.
Thankfully, the fire was quickly contained with no damage done. He should never have been left alone with his bad luck; It’s not like Chat had any baking experience.
“It’s ok,” Tom’s reassurance tipped him out of his gloom. “It could have happened to anyone. We still have some dough; we can try again.”
Chat sunk on his stool and released a sigh. “This whole thing is pointless; I don’t know what I was thinking.” He had been foolish to think Ladybug would fall for him over a croissant; he deserved whatever came to him.
“If you love Ladybug as much as you say you do, nothing is pointless.”
Chat winced again. He couldn’t help who he loved, but judging by how M. Dupain-Cheng acted, he wished a relationship would have bloomed with his daughter.
Not that Marinette wasn’t his type, she was strong, independent, hardworking, kind—but his heart was lost for the last year over his lady. If Ladybug hadn’t free fallen into his life, Marinette would be a serious contender. He had meant his words when he said she was an everyday Ladybug.
“I’m sorry I caused so much trouble,” Chat apologized not sure if he was referring to breaking Marinette’s heart or the fire anymore.
“I had just hoped”— Tom’s voice faded softly. “Marinette liked this boy, but by her behavior, he is too blind to see it.”
“Marinette likes someone?” Heat rose to his cheeks springing color. For once he was thankful for the mask, he had no reason to blush at that news. Marinette was free to like whomever she fancied, but he couldn’t believe he didn’t pick up on any hints with all the time they spent together. He picked up a glass of water and began to drink.
“When I saw you two on the balcony and heard Marinette confess her feelings, I was so proud. She was moving on from her crush to be happy. As much as Adrien is a nice kid, that model can live in a world of his own.”
Chat’s drink was interrupted by a coughing fit.
Marinette liked him?
His mind began to race, his mouth losing control over what was said. “You mean Adrien, as in Adrien Agreste.” He could barely process the news. “She can’t like him—they’re just friends.”
“Well he might think so, but my daughter is head over heels for him. All the pictures on her wall are proof”-
“I just thought she liked fashion.” That’s what she had told him. She was a fan—Chat could feel his mind turn to mush; if this was the truth then-
“She does love fashion, but I’ve seen her drool over his picture on more than one occasion.”
Overwhelmed described him perfectly. The information that Marinette had feelings for him didn’t change the fact that he only loved one girl- but how was he supposed to face her now? He knew her secret. “I had no idea,” he replied mostly to himself.
“No idea about what?” Marinette’s voice lit up the room with its airiness causing Chat’s eyes to jump to the doorway.
He felt his mouth run dry as he saw Marinette’s hair down just grazing her shoulders. She wasn’t in her regular clothes he usually saw her in. Instead, she wore some black leggings and a red tank top. He allowed his eyes to wander over her form once over before scolding himself.
I love Ladybug.
Somehow the statement was less confident in his mind. Nevertheless, Marinette closed the gap wandering into the kitchen, and the longer he made her wait for an answer, the higher her eyebrow arched.
“I had no idea how hard baking was, you and your family are a real talent for Paris.” Although not the topic from earlier, the statement was true. He would be totally lost without M. Dupain-Cheng.
“I can see that,” Marinette shot back amusingly holding up a burnt-to-a-crisp croissant. “I don’t suppose these are for someone special?”
For a split second, he saw it; a face that Ladybug was prone to make as she teased him. Adrien thought he imagined everything because the smirk disappeared as fast as it came.
“You wound me; those are my badges of shame.” The timer for the oven beeped, and he rushed over to retrieve the second batch. Chat realized that Tom had slipped out of the kitchen to leave him with Marinette once he placed the cookie sheet on the counter. To comment on the fact would bring more attention and awkwardness than he cared to endure.
“So can I have one?” Marinette asked peeking over the superhero’s shoulder before reaching for one of the chocolate treats.
Chat swatted her hand away playfully. “No, they’re for Ladybug.”
“But surely you need to test them? They are going to the love of your life after all.”
He swore she was trying to fluster him, and he deserved anything she threw at him. Announcing his love for Ladybug only gave Marinette more tease-worthy information. If he were honest, seeing this side of Marinette was refreshing. The banter only spurred him further, but in the end, Marinette stuck a piece of croissant in her mouth, her features mirroring the delight of fresh buttery flakes melting on her tongue.
“So?” He asked eyes intently locked on Marinette. If he were to lose this war to her, the least she could do was provide feedback.
“They’re a good start, Chaton.” That nickname. It was what Ladybug called him. “I think you’ll need more than fluffy pastries to win her over.” With little room to question why she used that name, instead, what was said.
“Like what?” Chat tilted his head to the side.
Marinette’s lips split into a grin. “For every 30 macaroons you help me make, I’ll reveal one thing about wooing the female population; Ladybug included.”
Chat’s eyes twinkled mischievously. “If you wanted me around more, Princess, all you had to do was ask.”
Marinette rolled her eyes at the comment, “anymore comments like that, and you’ll get no girl advice from me.”
Chat quickly fell into line, doing exactly what she said. He did catch a smile playing her lips as time began to ease by. Baking with Marinette was fun, talking with her made the time go by faster. He had suspicions that she allowed the icing bag to burst—mostly all over him. But the laugh that he got in return made the disaster worth the cleanup. Things were going back to normal, and he liked seeing this side of her. While Ladybug would always own a piece of his heart, he couldn’t ignore the fact that wasting time with Marinette all afternoon left him in this high. He was lucky to have her in his life—in and out of the mask.
“Tom,” Sabine’s voice made him freeze in his observation spot. “What are you doing?”
He stepped away shooting her with him not to draw attention from the teens in the kitchen.
“Nothing,” he answered quickly and a pair of laughs lingered out of the kitchen.
Sabine placed her hands on her hips. “Are you meddling again?”
Not directly, his mind answered for him. Chat had to come to learn how to bake, which he had. Any extra time he spent seeing how wonderful Marinette was only a bonus.
“I just can’t bring myself to believe that boy has no romantic feelings towards My little girl. You should have seen the way they were interacting; there’s hope yet.”
“Tom, we talked about this. They are just friends, and you need to respect that.”
“We started as friends, and look where that got us,” he wiggled his eyebrows suggestively earning himself an eye roll.
“That’s different.”
“I just want our girl to be happy, and if Chat Noir can keep her that way, then I see no harm entertaining the idea that something could bloom between them.”
Sabine sighed giving into her husband’s antics.
“Alright, our bet is back on,” she made a few notes on nearby paper. “But I’ll have you know; the odds are stacked in favor of Marinette ending up with Adrien.”
“I don’t mind being the underdog.” Tom’s gaze wandered back to the kitchen watching the banter unfold in front of his eyes. “That boy will become part of our family if I have anything to say about it.”

_____________________________
Gabriel had outdone itself this year.
The waxed floors of Le Grand Paris gleamed bright beneath the twinkling of a thousand fairy lights. Halos of holly found home in yards and yards of rich, verdant garland that hugged the arches and columns of the lobby’s; mistletoe tied up in conspicuous red bows hung in archways and corridors, ready to entrap the willing and un in tradition, holiday spirit, and mischief; a monstrously beautiful tree stretched up towards the ceiling in the center of the room and the dance floor, limbs nearly sagging beneath the weight of tinsel and ornaments and cheer.
The room was a spectacular monument to his father’s success and was entirely lost on Adrien Agreste as he stood, trapped, on the outskirts of the dancefloor, painfully pleasant smile in place. Signor Rossi, one of his father’s more outspoken board members, droned on about last quarter’s profits as his daughter, Lila, held tightly to Adrien’s arm.
“Papa, please,” She said, squeezing his arm and laughingly cutting off her father. “It’s a party! Let’s not talk business tonight.”
Adrien would have felt relief if he didn’t know any better. Years worth of company events such as this taught him nothing came without strings attached. Years worth of company events with Lila taught him exactly what kind of strings the Rossis were angling for..
“Adrien, did Gabriel tell you about Papa’s new chateau up in Trois Vallées? You simply must come up some weekend and join us.”
I simply must not, He thought, panic rising as Lila’s grip on his arm tightened. Signor Rossi’s eyes danced between the two of them approvingly as he seconded his daughter’s invitation.
Adrien’s gaze darted around the room, looking for something, anything to help him escape, when his eyes locked on a familiar passing blue.
He didn’t think before his free arm reached out to snake around the unsuspecting figure, pulling her in close as she squeaked in protest.
“Thank you so much for the invitation, Signor, but I’ll have to check with my girlfriend before committing to any plans.”
Adrien wasn’t sure who was more surprised by his announcement– his father’s business partner, said partner’s daughter, or the spitfire in heels he currently held captive by the waist.
Marinette Dupain-Cheng’s eyes flashed dangerously even as she sent a blindsiding smile towards Gabriel’s largest investor.
“Oh?” Signor Rossi said, confusion evident as he reached out to take her hand. He shared a frown with Lila whose lips were pressed into a tight, frozen line.“I didn’t know you were seeing anyone. Gabriel didn’t mention it.”
“It’s new,” Marinette said, nails digging into Adrien’s side. “We’re still testing the waters.”
Adrien laughed, covering his wince, and unwound her arm to bring the offending hand to his lips with a grin.
“Ah, cheri, these waters run rivers for you.”
Marinette’s cheeks flushed. She started to push him away when her tongue-tart reply was cut short.
“I didn’t know you and Mlle. Dupain-Cheng were so close.”
Adrien nearly tripped over the woman in his arms as he whirled around to see Gabriel Agreste’s imposing frown.
Fuck.

Ask Game: Canon-Compliant or AU?
@marichat-luv asked:
19. Do you prefer canon-compliant, AUs, or something in-between?
Thank you for asking! ^.^
I actually find strict compliance to canon to be a little boring. I prefer canon-divergent works. For me, the fun of fanfiction is taking a work that I love the premise and characters of and putting my own spin on things. A lot of times, there are canon elements that I don’t really care for, so I pick and choose what suits me and make the world my own.
For me, the enjoyable thing about writing fanfiction is that you can expand upon what already exists and take it in whatever direction you want. You’re not bound by canon, so if there’s a character you want to write as ace (or insert trait here) because there is a depressing lack of asexual (or insert trait here) representation, you’re free to do that.
You can give the minor character you’re intrigued by more character development! You can write the pairing that will never be canon! It doesn’t matter because the point of fanfiction is to create whatever self-indulgent thing makes YOU happy. It doesn’t matter that it will never happen that way in the actual show because that’s not the point. Fanfiction is fun for me because it allows me to put my own interpretation on things and share the result with other people who love the characters and the world too.
Now, I will say that there’s a difference between canon-divergence and completely ignoring the source material and writing completely out of character portrayals. I mean, people are free to do that if that’s what makes them happy because, as discussed above, that’s the point of fanfiction, but I don’t find that I’m personally interested in a story where the author has chosen to completely eschew canon.
What I really enjoy is when authors take canon aspects of characters and then build upon them. I like when characters are put in new and different situations that they’ve never faced in canon, but I can see why they’re acting the way they do. They still feel like themselves, and I can see the choices the author made when developing the characterization out of the character’s canon self. I really like when fanfiction takes canon and evolves it like that.
I actually think I like reading AUs best. XD I like it when people take canon elements and reimagine them. I like when they take the character’s canon personalities (like discussed in the above paragraph) and transplant them into different worlds. Here are some good ones:
Prince Charming by MiniMinou (Marichat, Actual Cat Chat Noir, Prince Adrien)
To Catch a Cat Burglar by thecaffeinequeen (Ballet AU, Adrienette, Marichat Thief Adrien)
Sorcellerie by Yilena (TV Show/Actors, Adrienette, Reverse Crush)
A Moment in Time by RoseGardenTwilight (Adrienette, EMT Adrien, Baker Marinette)
Once a Thief Always a Thief by SaijSpellhart (Marichat, Museum Curator Marinette, Thief Chat Noir)
Thanks for the ask!

Ladybug’s Lament, chapter 1
After fighting with six different ideas for what I was going to write for my friend @rosegardentwilight birthday, I settled on a Siren’s Lament AU ;D Happy birthday, my friend! Hope you enjoy this :D
Next>
Marinette’s life was a simple one. She lived with her parents at a bakery in Paris, helping them run the business. At twenty-two, she knew every single in and out there was to the bakery. Though it was always unpredictable what kind of day it would be, and though some days were much harder than others, the simplicity of her life was a comfort, one of the few she had growing up.
Her home life was fine, and even handling the bakery was easy. But school…
School had been brutal.
She’d been bullied so heavily that her academics had suffered. She found it easier to play hooky for the day than face the hallways of the cruel place filled with cruel people just waiting to knock her down, verbally or physically.
However, during one of those days was when she met the one person that she could say had become her only friend.
She knew who he was—his posters were everywhere so it was nearly impossible not to know Adrien Agreste—but he had begged her to be quiet and just let him enjoy being free from the paparazzi and fans and his bodyguard for the day. She’d agreed, knowing what it was like to feel like she had to hide at any given moment. She’d helped him decide which movie would most likely have the emptiest theater, and they watched the movie together.
Though, in hindsight, ‘watched’ was a generous term. They had started talking during the previews, which lead to them continuing talking throughout the movie, and by the time the credits were rolling, they were exchanging numbers suggesting they should do it again.
Which they did.
Again. And again. And again.
They became best friends, and it wasn’t just because they were each other’s only real friend at the moment. He was the first person who truly encouraged her and stood by her side even when school was rough. And he’d admitted that it was wonderful having a friend that never cared about his celebrity status and genuinely cared for him and his wellbeing.
But somewhere along the line, she’d fallen for him. It was so embarrassing. They were friends. They were supposed to stay friends. He liked her because she was a genuine friend to him, because she wasn’t looking for anything more from him than friendship.
Meaning that no matter how hard it was, she’d have to stay mum. She would never tell him that she’d been crushing on him for a few years now. Because as he’d said many times before, they were great friends. A great team.
A tap on her shoulder sent her leaping into the sky, yanking her from her reverie.
She glared at the blonde offender, her supposedly best friend who knew better than to sneak up at her like that, who was laughing. “Sorry.”
“You’re not sorry,” she grumbled.
“Guilty as charged.” Adrien held up his hands. “Hey, I think that we’re past any rush. Could I take my break? Kagami’s here. But I could tell her I can’t if you need me to—”
“It’s fine,” Marinette interrupted with a forced grin. With Marinette’s parents out of town visiting relatives in China for the next few weeks, Marinette was running the place on her own. Well, besides Adrien who had been more than happy to pick up any extra shifts she needed him to. He was such an amazing friend and helper, which made Marinette feel guilty over just how far her heart sank at the sight of Kagami standing outside with a cup of coffee in her hands. “Go see your girlfriend. Besides, you deserve a break.”
“Thanks, Marinette,” he said, slipping out of his apron. “Be back in five.” He roughly folded the apron, then set it in a cubby behind the counter before heading outside to meet her. Marinette forced her smile to remain, but in reality, it broke her heart to see Adrien out there with the girl he knew from his fencing club being all smiles and whatnot.
“Oh, you poor girl.”
Marinette looked over to where Miss Lila Rossi, her worst school bully and yet a regular customer, was standing with a mock frown on her face.
“Seems nothing goes your way, huh, Marinette?”
She scoffed. “You’re wrong. I was the one who encouraged Adrien to date Kagami.” Which, she had been. Adrien had often talked about Kagami and how they usually sparred together. The mention of the girl always seemed to put a smile on his face, and Marinette wanted nothing more for him to be able to smile since his father disowned him when Adrien decided to quit modeling… with Marinette’s encouragement. She’d never not feel guilty for causing such a rift between him and the only family member he had left.
“Yeah,” Lila said with a knowing smirk. “I doubt that. Anyway, best of luck dealing with that broken heart. I hear chocolate ice cream’s a good remedy. Don’t worry about the calories. A girl with a face like yours shouldn’t have to be careful of her weight.”
Lila strutted out of the store, leaving Marinette alone, sulking from that sting. She had to learn to let those go and not obsess over her appearance in the mirror like she had in high school. Lila was a liar, had always been, and apparently, always would be. But Marinette had to admit that even though she knew they were lies, sometimes it was hard to convince herself otherwise.
With a sigh, Marinette turned away from the counter, mostly so she wouldn’t be able to watch Adrien and Kagami interact. After all, Kagami was practically perfect. She was fit, fearless, and had a fine face. But even telling herself that, the selfish part of Marinette still regretted ever encouraging Adrien to go out with her.
The bell for the door rang, and she instinctively put on a customer service smile. “Hello, how can I help you?”
The old man looked over the case of treats. “Hmm. I don’t know. I’ve never been here before. What do you recommend?”
Marinette glanced over the lines of baked goods. “The macarons are always enjoyable.”
He hummed, looking at them. “Perfect. I will take two of whichever ones you think are the best.”
With a nod, she grabbed a little bag and a pair of tongs, using them to put two of her personal favorite macarons into the bag. When she returned to the register, he was ready with a bill to complete the transaction.
“Perfect,” Marinette said, taking the bill, then pulling out his change to hand back. “Thank you very much. I hope you enjoy them.”
He smiled. “You wear a smile, yet I see sadness in your eyes.”
Instantly, Marinette’s smile disappeared, mostly because it was near impossible to keep smiling when a perfect stranger calls your bluff so bluntly.
The man looked out the window to where Adrien was chatting animatedly with Kagami. “The ache in your heart wouldn’t happen to be from that boy out there, would it?”
She wanted nothing more than to crawl into a hole and die. “Is it that obvious?”
He shook his head. “I’ve been around many years; I know the signs of a broken heart. I think I have just the thing to cheer you up.”
He reached into his pocket, pulling out a little octagonal box to put on the counter.
“Oh, no no no,” Marinette said, waving her hands around. “I couldn’t take that.”
“Of course, you can,” the man said. “They’re said to give you a little luck. Maybe, it will help you with your boy troubles.” With that, he headed out of the store before Marinette could stop him. “My best wishes to you, Miss Marinette.”
He disappeared from the store before she could say a word. “Thank you,” she mumbled, despite no one being around to hear it.
Curiously, she reached down to open the box, gasping as she saw a pair of Ladybug print earrings. They were really cute. And with that ladybug pattern…
She put the earrings in her ears. What did it hurt? She could use all the luck she could get.
…
Monday nights for most people would be the boring start of the work week. However, Monday nights for Marinette meant going out with Adrien and walking around the city and maybe seeing a movie.
She had picked a dress to wear, a simple pink one that she paired with a denim jacket. She tossed her hair up into twin pig tails and finished them off with two pink bows. She smiled at herself in the mirror, thinking she looked pretty cute.
But suddenly, an image of Kagami came to her mind. That woman was always perfectly put together, and her hair was sleek and stylish, not put in little pigtails and definitely never decorated with bows.
She should change before Adrien arrived.
“Marinette?”
Too late. “Coming.”
She grabbed her purse, shoving her phone and her wallet inside of it before making her way downstairs to where Adrien was.
Only to see him on the phone.
“I’m sorry to hear that, Kagami,” he said. He caught Marinette’s eye, then pointed to the phone mouthing ‘sorry’. “I would come over right now, but I’m with Marinette.”
“Go,” Marinette said, her heart slowly breaking. “If you need to go, then go.”
Adrien covered the mouth piece. “Are you sure?”
“Yeah,” Marinette said with a forced smile. “Sounds like Kagami needs you. Go.”
“Thanks, Marinette.” He then took his hand away from the mouth piece. “Yeah, I’ll be over as soon as I can. See you in a bit, Kagami.” He hung up and slid the phone into his pocket. “I’m so sorry. Kagami wasn’t accepted as a teacher for the fencing league she was applying for, and so her mom’s upset meaning she’s upset and—”
“It’s okay,” Marinette said, interrupting him. “Go to her. Tell her I’m sorry, too. That must be really hard on her.”
Adrien grabbed hold of her shoulders. “Thank you, Marinette, for being so understanding.”
“What are friends for?” Her smile was growing more forced by the minute as the number of pieces her heart was being broken into was growing.
“Still, thank you.” With one last squeeze, he turned around and headed out. “We’ll reschedule!” he hollered right before he slipped out the door. “Have a good night, Marinette.”
“Thanks. You too.”
The door shut, and instantly, Marinette felt her knees buckle. From her spot on the floor, she bit her lip, playing with the hem of her dress. Of course. She’d never be able to compete with Kagami. But that was what she had wanted for Adrien, right? Happiness? Someone who made him smile? He had someone who he cared for so much, and Kagami was very lucky to have him by her side.
She reached up to brush an errant lock of hair behind her ear, fingers brushing against her earring. “Lucky, huh?” she mumbled rubbing her finger over the jewelry. “Yeah, right.”
As she looked out into the Parisian night, she couldn’t help but think that maybe it would be nice to just get out and spend some time by herself. She rarely left, it seemed, unless it went out with Adrien.
As a friend, of course. Because that’s all they were and all they would ever be: the best of friends.
She decided to go for a long walk; she needed it to clear her mind. She soon found herself at the Seine, looking over the bridge into the water. The moonlight shone off in little ripples, constantly swaying and moving. The sound wasn’t loud enough to drown out the ambient noise of the city, one that had grown quieter with the fall of night. The cool air was such a contrast to that of the bakery, and the slight breeze felt good blowing against her exposed skin.
It was enough to help her drop the weight on her shoulders, if only for a moment. The weight of having been bullied for years. The weight of helping her parents run a bakery with a smile always on her face. The weight of having a wild crush for her best friend, the one who was always by her side.
The one who was dating another woman.
It was so much for one girl to handle. It hurt, the pain in her heart not able to be held back. She bit her lip, trying not to cry. She let out deep breath after deep breath in hopes to keep her tears at bay, but only succeeded in making herself light-headed, forcing her to lean against the barrier wall of the bridge.
“Oh, broken-hearted one, your soul has grown weary. Have you turned to the lonely tides to engulf your tears?”
A single tear slipped from her eye as she looked up to find where that angelic voice was coming from but there was no one she could see. But, to be fair, she couldn’t see anything with her vision so blurry and head as fuzzy as it was.
“May the waves embrace you, lull you softly to sleep. Ease away all the hurt and pain you’ve carried through the years.”
Slowly, she stood up straight to look over at the water, feeling as though it was calling for her. How, she couldn’t know, but that was definitely where it was coming from. Was there a boat?
“But if given the chance, would you forget the past?”
She leaned over ever more, wondering if she could see it, her grip slowly slipping as she leaned further and further forward.
“You and I could start all over.”
She was falling, the water fast approaching.
“We can love again, my dear.”

Frequency Chapter 4 preview
“Adrien,” the name tumbled out before he finished deciding a course of action. This would end in disaster.
“What is it, Plagg?”
“Have you ever considered a blind date?” There went subtly out the window.
“I don’t think Tikki would be very pleased with asking me out,” Adrien teased.
“It’s not with me!” Plagg growled back. “And I’m serious.”
“I haven’t given a lot of thought about it if I’m honest,” Adrien confessed. “If the girl I’m meant to be with is here somewhere, I’d like to think we would just happen.”
That was the romantic in Adrien.
“So if Tikki has someone in mind that was interested, I should tell her you aren’t?” He could only assume that Tikki has already got her to agree. Either way, by the sounds of it, her plan was about to backfire on her. If Adrien weren’t going to budge on the issue, then Tikki would have to break the news to Marinette herself.
“Who is it?”
Obviously, the idea of a blind date would be the two people haven’t met previously. Because if they had, then they would have gotten together on their own.
“It’s this girl— she was supposed to be her roommate before the school made a mistake. Tikki swears that you two would get along. Marinette is here for design and”-
“Marinette?” Adrien’s alarmed response was undeniable. “As in the one that volunteers in the library.”
”I think Tikki mentioned something like that.” Sometimes it was hard to retain anything his girlfriend said, especially when kisses followed.
“And Marinette—she went to Tikki about going out with me?”

RIG?
Thank you for the ask! Lets see…
R: Are there any writers (fanfic or otherwise) you consider an influence?
I have no idea if it shows in my own writing, but I’m a big fan of Terry Pratchett, and I think his books (Discworld, Long Earth series mainly) are the main reason my English is good enough.
Fandomwise I’d say my favorite authors have had an influence on my own writing - either setting a level I aspire to (like @kryallaorchid, @metawohoo, @skaylanphear, @midnightstarlightwrites, @seasonofthegeek, @freedom-shamrock, @youcancallmecirce, @saijspellhart, @their-destinys-writer and you too @miraculouspaon) or as a source of inspiration and brainstorming - yes, I’m talking about you @goblin-alchemist, @australet789, @quesbee, @tempomental-fanfics, @kellarhi, @rosegardentwilight, @lilaflyy !
I: Do you have a guilty pleasure in fic (reading or writing)?
Ooooh, definitely guilty. And it’s both - reading and writing!
G: Care to share a favorite crack fic?
OOOOOOhhhh, yesssss! It’s a series actually! Unconventional scenarios by @goblin-alchemist, which should be read in order, but some of my personal favorites are: Fanboy and Miraculously in Concert.
And from some older fics: Every Marichat Fic Ever and Every Ladrien Fic Ever by @bullysquadess (warning: mature content).

Miraculous Ladybug Fanfics you should read right now
I haven’t done one of these for a while so I think it’s time for another bunch of recommendations. Here are some of the works that have kept me hooked over the past months. As always, do share your faves with me.
Completed works to binge read:
A Moment In Time by @rosegardentwilight : This beautiful AU about mistaken identities and missed opportunities is a gorgeous mixture of Adrinette and Cheesecake fluff that will hit you right in the feels.
Collided by Poetic Design by @bluetreeleaves-blog : A magical soulmates AU with a twist. This will have you crying out with joy and frustration in the very best way.
Honey Bubble Tea by @ZiriO : A mix-up means Chloe has the Ladybug miraculous and Marinette has the Bee. A kwami swap AU that’s as sweet as the name suggests.
Hidden Agendas by Remasa : A murder mystery with jealousy, scandal and excellent twists. You’ll change your mind about whodunnit with every chapter and you’ll love every minute.
WIPs you’ll drop everything for when they update:
Customer of Love by @etoilesjaunes : This is a hot and sweet fake relationship AU that almost got me barred from my favourite coffee shop. (I defy you to not squawk with surprise and delight.) I’m more invested in these characters than some of my real life friends
MDR by @xiueryn : The chatfic to end all chatfics. Gamers, naivety, hidden identities and so much salt and shade will keep you gripped. Laugh out loud funny and very heartfelt.
One-shots you’ll read over and over:
Together by @tog84 : It will rip your heart into shreds, but it’s worth it. This is a tale of endless love that still brings a tear to my eye when I think about it.
Collar for a Kitty by @thenovelartist : Heart-meltingly romantic and beautifully written. Bookmark it for when you’re having a bad day.
A Place to Land by @unforgetabelle : DJWifi at their most wonderful. This is a perfect blend of cute and surprising.
The one-shot that grew into a multi-chapter that you really must revisit:
Chai Tea and Fresh Starts by @freedom-shamrock : Even if you don’t ship Lukanette now, you will by the time you reach the end of this story. A what-might-have-happened follow up to Frozer that is full of sweet moments.

Wow! thank you so much!! 💕💕💕💕
In honor of November 1st being National Author’s Day, and November being NaNoWriMo, I want to make a shout out each day to some of the amazing ML writers in the fandom! (This will be according to their AO3 names, so if I miss their Tumblr, lmk so I can tag them)
November 1st
I’m going to start the month off with one of my personal favorite writers in the fandom, TheNovelArtist! She is an extremely talented writer, and if you haven’t yet, I extremely recommend reading any of her works! :)
One of her most popular works: Second Chances - A Nanny AU feat. Marinette, Adrien, and his little daughter Emma. A story that will completely melt your heart <3
Another of my personal favorites: Falling for the Dork - An Adrienette April 2019 connected story feat. Adrien in cat pun hoodies, and a blushing Marinette. A true work of art <3 <3

My Miraculous FanFic Shout Outs
Apparently, August 21st is FanFic Writer’s Appreciation Day. SO... I thought I’d write a little blurb in appreciation. Because writing fanfiction is hard and somewhat underappreciated work!
FIRST... I want to give a shout out to my writing buddies - Epcot97 and ChubbyUnicornMama/Malcom Reynolds. I’ve honestly had a lot of fun working with these two over the last few months on the monthly ML prompts. You can read their Miraculous stories here:
Ep: https://archiveofourown.org/users/epcot97/ or https://www.fanfiction.net/u/11992939/epcot97
CM: https://archiveofourown.org/users/MalcomReynolds or https://www.fanfiction.net/u/11936925/ChubbyUnicornMama
NEXT: A list of some of my fave ML Fanfics so far. I have read lots and lots, so maybe I’ll try to do a more frequent “what I’ve been reading” post series, but for now here are the ones that I thought of first for this list.
• Madness Within by @thetauruspixie
Status: Work in Progress Rating: M
Years after Ladybug's death and Hawkmoth's reveal and arrest, Chat Noir is now an insane vigilante, feared by all of Paris. However, after saving Marinette one fateful night, he soon becomes dangerously obsessed with his old friend and classmate who strangely reminds him so much of his lady.
This story is brilliant and emotional and at times hard to read because it’s so raw, but it’s fantastic! Taurus Pixie has done a wonderful job of dealing with the dark side of the Miraculous world.
You can read it here: https://www.fanfiction.net/s/12889745/1/Madness-Within
• Truth and Consequences by @siderealscribblings
Status: Work in Progress Rating: M
On Sunday, Marinette discovered who her arch nemesis really was.
On Monday, she made Adrien’s father a deal.
Hold onto your heart because holy hell this story is freaking intense. It’s basically Miraculous: Civil War. This is the one story that makes me cuss. Amazing work at the characters and the build-up. Chloe in this story is absolutely hilarious.
You can read it here: https://archiveofourown.org/works/15678903/chapters/36426954
• A Moment in Time by RoseGardenTwilight
Status: Complete Rating: T
Adrien's jaw dropped from slight bewilderment at why such a gorgeous girl would randomly sit down at his table and start talking away. The only problem? His name wasn't Adam.
AU- Alya sets Marinette up on a blind date with a guy named Adam, but after a phone incident and the time change, she ends up crashing at a different table thinking it's her date.
This is such a fun story where Marinette and Adrien connect by accident in a non-Miraculous magic universe.
You can read it here: https://archiveofourown.org/works/16511411/chapters/38673797
• Chasing the C/h/atwalk by Inkkerfluffle
Status: Complete Rating: T
Paris. The city of lights, love and fashion. Follow the progress of Marinette Dupain Cheng as she enters the extremely competitive world of Reality television for a chance to be the winner of Project Runway: France.
This one is really cute, as Marinette tries to get through being part of Project Runway and Adrien unexpectedly ends up as her model.
You can read it here: https://archiveofourown.org/works/6095266/chapters/13971763
There are many more that I’ve got on my favourites list, but for now, I’ll share these four.
Thank you, FanFic Writers, for giving me a bigger world of Miraculous to love and cherish. AND for inspiring me to write my own stories again.

For the bingo Drabble thing. Adrienette taking care of when sick. :D
@rosegardentwilight
“I can get that for you.” He walked over to where she was resting on the couch, and picked up the tissue box so she could grab a tissue.
“Adrien, I’m sick, not useless.” She insisted, blowing her nose, before discarding the tissue in the trash.
“I know,” He sighed. “but you need to rest. It won’t do us any good if Ladybug’s sick when fighting the next akuma.”
“...I hate it when you’re right.” She grumbled. “Fine. How about some soup?”
“All right, love.” He said, placing a kiss to her forehead before making his way to the kitchen. “I can’t promise it’ll be amazing as your mother’s recipe, but it’ll be something. Why don’t you rest, and I’ll wake you up when it’s ready?”
She nodded, closing her eyes, and in no time at all, she was fast asleep.
-x-
She blinked awake to find Adrien gently shaking her shoulder.
“The soup’s ready. I thought you’d want it hot.” She reluctantly sat up, and opened her mouth expectantly. He took a spoonful, careful not to let any spill, as he placed it in her mouth.
He was right. It wasn’t her mother’s recipe, but it was special all the same as he made it specifically for her. “...Thank you for taking care of me, Adrien.” She said softly, after he gave her another spoonful.
“Of course, Princess.” He said. “I’d do anything for you.” Placing the bowl on the table, he leaned up for a kiss, only for her to push him away at the last second.
“Adrien, you’ll get sick.” She chastised him.
“So what?” He said, with a shrug of his shoulders, and a happy smile on his lips. “Worth it.” And then he placed his lips on hers.
