Shoutout Sunday

I just wanted to collect some of the most memorable Astarion fanfics I've read so far and to give them and their authors a big ol' shoutout. These are some of the fics I strongly suggest others to check out, if you haven't yet.

Also, please feel free to comment and recommend your favorites as well! And, if you know of some of these authors on tumblr, lemme know, so I can add them too :) I'm not too good with words, so I'll be slapping some of the authors own words as descriptions (for now). Oh, and do be mindful of tags etc etc... Here goes, in no particular order:

Pieces Still Stuck In Your Teeth by howlsmovinglibrary (@wetcatspellcaster) "The Vampire Ascendent has crossed a line. Eleven years after making the biggest mistake of her life and losing the man she loved, tiefling wizard (now Archmage) Rosalie decides it’s time to put this Astarion in the ground for good. An Honest Lie by howlsmovinglibrary (@wetcatspellcaster) "Astarion and Rosalie think they understand each other perfectly, but they have each fallen prey to the other’s mask. As they both go forward with their adventure, will either of them dare to be honest?"

A Crooked Touch by eyes_of_the_lamb "If you want to read a story where Astarion is sweet from the start and Tav is here to fix him, this isn't the one. If you want to read about two terribly broken men spending a good long while making each other worse before they make each other better, this might be for you. If you thought the in-game romance was a little too easy and it should have been ten times more painful and difficult to convince Astarion he's worthy of love, this is definitely for you."

Perfect Slaughter by Imagineitdear (@imagineitdearies ) "Tyrus, a low-born drow with aspirations for necromantic wizardry, finds none of the hospitality he expected from his new noble patron, Cazador Szarr. Quickly he loses his life and future, his hopes and dreams—only to find something new to fight for in the unlikely arms of Cazador’s least favorite spawn."

A Novel Experience by meanboss (@meanbossart ) "Initially just an epilogue for my own game campaign with my big meaty dark urge drow, turned whole story which I accidentally deleted and am now reuploading, my bad LOL

When He’s all but Forgotten How to Love Again by bg_brainrot "You saved Baldur’s Gate almost 300 years ago. You died 150 years ago. On a new life now, you find that memories from your past lead you to a specific silver-haired man. Who was he, and why won't he leave you be? tldr; An Elf-Tav reincarnation story where Tav dreams about Astarion in their nightly reveries and eventually seeks him out once they reach maturity. Things definitely totally go well."

More Than Any Words by mataglap "They have saved the city and possibly the world. All is great and everyone is happy... except Astarion has been banished back into the shadows, and Tav is stuck in an uneven battle with his own oath. He's losing the fight. He knew he would from the moment he fell for Astarion. But he can't lose yet, not before they find a way for Astarion to walk in the sun again."

Inexhaustible Oil by homeward_bound "This is the absolute opposite of a redemption fic. A post-canon, fall-from-grace, "I can make you infinitely worse" kind of story, in which there is no simple happy ending. But there's mystery on the way. And dragons. True love, even. So if you're fine with that, come aboard. It's going to be a wild ride."

Am already on discord, can crank out (another) random writers group for folks to connect together if we want. I don't care what fandom you are in, if you need to write a paragraph or have 20 WIPs to finish

Yk what blows my mind is when i’m reading something amazing right, i am so immersed in the story the writing is beautiful it’s making me feel more emotions than i’ve ever felt in all my years of living and then the end notes are just like. “uhhh hope u enjoyed ig? haha” or “idek what this is lol” like sir ma’am my guy your writing is the most gorgeous thing i have ever read. i cried and i laughed and i screamed and i did that thing where you roll around in bed and giggle like a child at 3am. if it was the zombie apocalypse and i could only take one story with me as i fought to survive it would be yours. “what even is this lmao” a masterpiece. a fucking masterpiece is what it is

Fanfic writers appreciation day

I would like to share some of my favorite writers on this hellsite. ( In alphabetical order so no partiality is shown.). I know I don't give any of them enough love and support so here is a small attempt to make up for it.

@adulting-sucks - is first up. Masterlist. She hasn't been writing lately because life happens but that doesn't mean I don't go back countless times to what she's already written. She is my ride or die on this site, but that doesn't mean I'm biased. Go read for yourself. My favorite of her stuff is Oh What A Night, a Jake Jensen masterpiece that is exactly how I feel my first date with Jake would go.

@deandoesthingstome her Masterlist. Charlie is just a beautiful human who is so welcoming and supportive of other writers, essentially keeping fandom community alive and thriving. She does this amazing thing for other writers called Fanfic Writer Wednesday where she highlights a writer, which is so sweet and selfless and beautiful 😍. Her writing is outstanding as well! My favorite of hers is Walk With Me, which is full of drama, intrigue, smut and storytelling. Seriously you will not be disappointed.

@ellethespaceunicorn Their Masterlist. Elle writes beautifully about some of my favorites in the fandoms namely Walter Marshall and Lloyd Hansen. My favorite (currently) is Don't take My Sunshine Away . The series is dark (it's about Lloyd so to be expected). Give it and everything else they have written a shot.

@raccoon-eyed-rebel her master list is here. Her unique and beautiful writing has you coming back for more with each chapter, each post. The woman doesn't know the meaning of brevity and that's ok with the rest of us because her writing is so outstanding. My recommendation of her stuff is one of her one shots - In All Fairness... though you can't go wrong with any of her many series either.

@geralts-yenn Her Masterlist This woman is a phenomenal person above and beyond her writing. She is the glue that keeps fandom community together, she is one of the most supportive people on Tumblr of other writers. And her comments are legendary. As for her writing, if I had to narrow it down, it would be hard but I'll go with Believe in me, her ongoing series Vampire Modern Melot. As a person who ravenously have consumed everything vampire related since the late 80s til today (minus Twilight), I am madly in love with her new interpretation of Vampires and their lives. As well as she weaves several Cavill characters into the tale, even as background players. Love it. And more importantly I love her.

@mayloma her Masterlist this writer is phenomenal in talent and beautiful imagery. I love all of her stuff but the one I keep coming back to repeatedly is Sweetest Things. The visuals, the sensuality, the beauty. Just perfect. And unlike the other writers here, I need to mention my other most favorite of hers Of Investments and Returns. It had me locked in from the first word and I loved every second of it.

@ronearoundblindly her Masterlist. Ro is an amazing writer who is prolific and beautiful in her writing. She is also an incredible human being that I am so glad is in my life. She has helped me out of jams both in writing and in my own life. Love her. My favorite of her fics is Smells Like Team Spirit which is an unf hgggg wonderful tale about Lloyd x Reader x Steve Rogers.

@sarahdonald87 Although she has yet to officially publish a full chapter of her Andy and Everett series, she still wets our appetites with her beautiful snippets. I am so excited to see what she gives us when she gives us the whole story. My favorite of her drabbles is The Dark Room Redux. It's a beautiful view into where Andy and Everett are headed. Also I adore Sarah and am so very thankful she is in my life. I love her realness and honesty as well as her beautiful heart.

@sweater-daddiesdumbdork her Masterlist This woman is an outstanding writer. Her serieses (is that a word?) keep me coming back again and again to read and reread. Her current ongoing series about a certain Train!Daddy and Honey is pure love and wonderfulness and very inclusive (I feel very seen in that series). But the series I adore the most that she wrote is Wilford Demands. The twists and turns plus the outstanding smut just... It's wonderful.

@sweetandgentlecreature her Masterlist Sweet is a newer writer in Tumblr who has definitely made her presence known with her Sy fics. My favorite is Homeward Bound .

Go give your favorite fanfic writer some love and appreciation today, and all days. As always reblog their work to help spread the love around to others. Your likes are all well and good but Tumblr reblogs is the only way fic gets spread to other readers.
