“What was that all about?” Ruby asked, carefully coming to a balanced sit on the windowsill. Weiss didn’t respond. She remained where she was, curled in a ball. Sniffling quietly. Ruby’s heart skipped a beat, and she sprinted to her side. “Um, Weiss? You okay?”

Her friend sobbed, unable to make she words she wanted to say to leave her throat. “Shh...shh...it’s o-okay, Weiss, I’m here,” Ruby said, her voice not as strong as she’d liked. “What did he do to you?”
