((i would ping people on this but it's not really a starter or anything, just kind of an acknowledgement of a background happening haha.))
From early morning the grounded cruise ship that housed Sinostra smelled of food being cooked--Romeo's favored way to celebrate his birthday was, quite simply, to feed those around him, and so his 'parties' often went as such, taking close friends for lavish meals of which he ate little to no food himself but happily watched as people who were far less obsessed with maintaining their bodily images got to enjoy edible luxuries. Probation prevented this this year--but the Institute's branches and associates spanned the world and all fields, so naturally there were some who were in the field of gastronomy even if they no longer worked directly for the Institute. And Romeo happily paid to have meals catered--this year, being Sinostra's very own vice captain Fico, a buffet for the entire house and the casino's staff(and he would even turn a blind eye if a few big-spending patrons happened to sneak over,) available all day, from professional cooks. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert, a set but varied menu cycling throughout the day as was appropriate.
Unfortunately his staff would still have to work, but so did he--work didn't stop on his birthday after all--but he did take more breaks than usual to show Fico's more pleasant side to everyone. It wasn't quite the atmosphere of an upscale party that he would have truly desired but it was far more than the usual. He was still a ghoul and most still treated him with a level of anxiety. But as it was clear he was in a good mood today the tension diffused vastly. Even Taiga's underlings gradually realized they were not being shot at or chased away from the food and alcohol, a truce for the day that Romeo would confirm even if he hadn't bothered to ask Taiga's permission. The casino felt more lively, or maybe that was just his perception as he walked the floor more than usual.
The VIP room, now mostly back in order after the incident a while back (save for Romeo's chair,) had become piled with gifts from his admirers and underlings who wanted to do something for him or at least felt obligated to. Well, maybe piled was a strong word but he had more than a few gifts!
From the morning, his friends would receive a message along these lines:
Buongiorno a te! It's Fico's birthday!
You're invited to come by Sinostra today! I have paid chefs working all day to provide food--including meals made to order if the buffet doesn't suit you! Whether you'd like breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert, or more than one, drop by at your leisure today! It isn't as stylish as I would like due to limitations from our probation, but I hope you'll enjoy a luxurious meal today.
It's free, obviously. And I'm not asking you to bring me a gift. My gift is that you enjoy the food, the drinks, and the more relaxed atmosphere for me. You know I'm on a diet and can't eat that stuff, and I have to work. I'll be happy to see you if you want to find me, though! (And if you do want to drop off a gift you can hand it off and those guys should know what to do with it.)
Of course I understand how busy most of you are, so if you want something but can't make it you can just message back and I'll have someone run a delivery for you.
The buffet offerings and the cutoff times and beverage options(including plenty of wine) are attached, along with a reminder that food can be made to order as well.
Lyca receives a voice recording as well, as Romeo knows he has some trouble with reading and may find the message easier to understand if he can just listen to it.
Towa receives a separate message acknowledging that he doesn't eat meat but if he wants to try the vegetarian/vegan parts of the menu(or would like some of the raw food being used in preparation) he's welcome to drop by for some as well. A menu of what's available for him is also included.
For Haru and Kaito an additional note is attached that he can, of course, take some of the food back for later, and he'd have anything left over at the end of the night sent over to Jabberwock in the morning although he couldn't guarantee there would be much.
For Rui, Haru, and Towa there's an additional note about food waste being kept separate if they could use it later for compost or for feeding the beasts in Jabberwock after the end of the day.
And, of course, Taiga received a separate message.
In case you forgot, it's my birthday today.
I'm not angry if you forgot. And I'm not asking for a gift or anything.
There's going to be food all day, so you should have some! I'll be working later on, but I might walk around the casino and the 'party' area for a while first.
If Taiga is watching the texts as they come in, Romeo types for a bit, then stops without sending it. There's a pause, as if contemplating, a little more typing, and then,
Actually, I'd like it if you would wish me a happy birthday. Over text is fine.
Who has to ask to be told such a thing. He didn't have to ask, did he? Taiga would have figured it out even if it took all day. It felt a little embarrassing. But it was equally embarrassing to feel timid about it.
Well, no matter. The students were waking up and even outside his room he could hear some of them talking about the smell of breakfast. He'd sent messages to the non-captain students in Sinostra and the casino staff too--they were welcome to the food and to the festivities, and for those applicable there were some shift changes that would hopefully spread the work out a little bit more today. He was paying them the same, although they'd be working less, and they were free to eat and drink while they worked as long as it got done and there was no unnecessary rowdiness. And as long as cleanup happened appropriately of course.
(The message sent had been posted to WickHive by one of the students as well. Other houses' members were wondering if they could sneak in for free food and get away with it. Many didn't trust that Romeo would be offering free anything to anybody. One or two thought it was kind of weird that he would probably be watching them eat.)
Today would be celebratory. Tomorrow. . .he might be going to Frostheim. . . .
#romeo birthday event#(('event' is a strong word but shh))#present: romeo#life in darkwick: romeo#((i don't have an SR or above Romeo so i made an account on another server and selected romeo from the start for the screenshot lol))

Oh! Well, now he'd have to drop by a little sooner. . . .
There were already more than a few gifts in there(more than he'd expected, really--) but only Taiga's were sat on the table. The underlings already sat on the couch and monitoring the laptops for him hadn't touched them. They chimed happy birthday for him, and he smiled to them, confirming with them that the boss had left the gifts there.
It was so neatly wrapped he wasn't really sure. It was immaculate, or nearly so--frankly he almost didn't want to unwrap them they were so neat. Of course he would--but he sat on the couch and crossed his legs, grabbing the card on top to read first. He had a knife ready to slice the tape on the packging as cleanly as possible too.
Wrapped carefully in tasteful red and gold wrapping paper were gifts for the vice-captain's birthday. Taiga had set them up on the table in the VIP room away from all the packages that were quickly being delivered from other Sinostra students and those from other houses. Taiga even noticed one from Jin, which he shoved under a stack out of sight. The first gift he got Romeo was the Visconti Alexander the Great fountain pen, then a Versace Baroque bathroom, a pair of black Christian Louboutin Equiswing loafers, and a custom gold pendant with Romeo's initials.
Everything cost him an arm and a leg (and some kidneys), but it was worth it.
He placed a birthday card he wrote onto the gifts before leaving.

______________________________________________________________
The fireworks in the Abu Dhabi night sky painted the picture as the 2023 Formula 1 season came to an end. The Yas Marina Circuit buzzed with activity as teams packed up and exchanged congratulations and goodbyes. Amidst the hustle and bustle, the end-of-season official celebration promised a night to celebrate the ending and the beginnings of cycles.
As you stood at the entrance to the lavish venue, your heart pounded with excitement and nerves. You tried smoothing down your pants but the wrinkles kept showing up, almost as if to annoy you, a touch of nervousness fluttering in your stomach as you whispered to yourself, “I do not belong in this type of party.” But this wasn't just any celebration; it was the culmination of a year's hard work and dedication. And tonight, you had an added reason to celebrate – you were finally moving to Ferrari, after years of dedication, fulfilling yours and your father’s dream in the red team.
Stepping foot in the main event’s room, your eyes scanned the crowd, searching for a familiar face. Just when you started having second guesses, you saw him – Charles Leclerc, an old friend and colleague from your days at Alpha Romeo. A smile spread across your face as his eyes met yours in the crowd and he motioned for you to come closer.
"Charles!" your voice filled with warmth and a hint of relief at finding someone familiar.
“You made it!" He answered, pulling you into a tight hug. "I knew you wouldn't miss this."
You laughed, now finally breathing in a bit calmer. "Wouldn't miss it for the world."
As you made your way into the party, Charles filled you in with stories from the season and introduced you to everyone he could find dressed in red. The atmosphere was electric, filled with laughter, music, and the clinking of glasses.
A few drinks in, Charles grinned mischievously at you. "I dare you to go and hit on Lewis."
Your eyes widened in surprise. "You must be joking?" Charles grin only widening. "Come on, it'll be fun, you’ve had the biggest crush on him since forever, give it a go!"
You were high, so incredibly high at that point, much like everyone else in that club. But one very clear thought took over: Lewis didn’t know you and besides, what was the worst it could happen, a rejection?!
So, taking a deep breath and fueling a mix of “screw it” and liquid courage, you approached Lewis Hamilton, a god to the sport you loved so dearly.
"Hi, are you really a race car driver? You’ve been driving me crazy all night" you said, extending your hand with a playful smile.
"Okay, that was actually a good one. I'm Lewis," he replied, handing out his hand for you to shake with a smile that made your heart skip a beat.
“Was it?” You bursted with laughter, clearly amazed he was actually charmed by your cheesy pickup line.
“That, and you’re really hot, miss…?” His intense gaze on you as his hands reached to touch your waist just so slightly, almost as if asking for your name was actually him asking for permission to touch you.
“Oh right, I’m y/n”
“Would you give me the honor of dancing with you?”
“Can’t really say no to a sir, can I?!” the playfull banter you intended igniting something is his eyes that you almost didn’t catch, but that changed the relaxed energy between you two.
As you danced with and around Lewis, you two continued to charm each other, the connection between you undeniable, and the chemistry palpable, but still, only touches were really there. You were hyper aware of his hands dancing across your body but not once did he motioned to bring his lips anywhere near you.
In those hours you never once talked about Formula 1, notreally interested in that part of him anyway, you wanted to get to know the person behind all the success, not the figure the world got to see weekend in and out.
“I need to go in a few minutes, but hm... would you like to go on a date with me, tomorrow afternoon? I promise to surprise you” His question caught you by surprise, he didn’t really show any interest in seeing you privately, at least not in the way you thought he would, but the gleam in his big dark eyes made it impossible for you to deny him.
“I’d love to” You moved to get your phone so he could put his number but he stopped dead “I don’t do phone number, love. Let me get you to your hotel tonight, I’ll be sure to pick you tomorrow”
You hesitated for a moment, secrecy a huge red flag for you, but then again, it wasn’t anyone, it was Lewis and he had every reason under the sun to be like that.
So, you got into the Mercedes waiting for him at the back entrance, his friends in a different car already heading to their own hotel, just you, him and the crazy tension that could be cut with a knife between the two of you.
“Be ready by 16:00, wear something light.”
“Where are you taking me, Lewis?”
“I do hope you’re just as courageous as you were approaching me today” And with that he left a soft kiss to your temple before you could even think about an answer. Getting out of car without really understanding where you had gotten yourself into.
The anticipation was palpable as you waited in the lobby of your hotel. Your heart raced with a blend of excitement and nervous energy, each passing second amplifying your anticipation. The surroundings of the hotel lobby seemed oddly out of place with the adventure that Lewis had promised you. The juxtaposition was not lost on you – here you were, waiting to be picked up by a global superstar, for an adventure you knew nothing about in a fancy lobby of a hotel in Abu Dhabi.
When Lewis pulled up, driving himself, clad in shorts and a t-shirt, the surreal nature of the situation hit you even harder. The sight of him, so casually dressed and behind the wheel, added a layer of authenticity that momentarily caught you off guard. This wasn't the man the world knew; this was Lewis, the person, taking a genuine interest in sharing an adventure with you.
"Hey, ready for this?" Lewis greeted you with a warm smile as you climbed into the car.
"Still don’t know what for, but let’s do this" you replied, trying to mask your excitement with casual ease, earning a chuckle from him.
As Lewis maneuvered through the streets, he made small talk in an attempt to break the mounting tension. His easygoing demeanor and genuine interest in getting to know you better were both disarming and endearing. You found yourself gradually relaxing, the initial awkwardness dissipating with each passing moment.
"So, have you ever done anything like this before?" Lewis asked, casting a sideways glance at you.
"Getting into a date I know nothing about, with a dude that could be potently trying to kidnap me?! Nah, this will be my first time" you mused, seeing how his features lightened the more you opened up.
A thoughtful pause followed before Lewis blurted out "I thought skydiving would be fun."
Your heart leapt with joy at his words. The exhilaration you had been feeling was now tinged with elation. Skydiving had always been on your bucket list, a dream you had yet to fulfill. And here was Lewis, suggesting it as if he had read your mind.
"No way? I've always wanted to try skydiving!" you exclaimed, unable to contain your excitement any longer.
Lewis grinned, his eyes sparkling with a mix of mischief, excitement and relief "Well then, today's your lucky day."
Upon arriving at the skydiving center, the adrenaline was palpable. The vibrant energy of the place was contagious, and the sight of the vast blue sky served as a stark reminder of the adventure that lay ahead. Lewis led you towards the instructor who would guide you through the process.
"Alright, let's get you geared up," the instructor began, laying out the parachute and harness. He proceeded to give you a detailed briefing on safety protocols and what to expect during the jump. As the instructor demonstrated the proper techniques and emphasized safety precautions, you couldn't help but feel nervousness. Lewis, ever attentive, kept casting side glances your way, his eyes filled with concern and curiosity.
Just before gearing up, Lewis pulled you aside, his gaze locking onto yours. "Are you okay with this? Are you still excited?" his genuine concern evident in his voice. However, you couldn't contain your excitement, a wide grin spreading across your face as you reassured him "Absolutely! I can't wait!"
Lewis smiled; his relief palpable. "Alright, let's do this." With a final check of the equipment and a nod of approval from the instructor, you and Lewis found yourselves boarding the plane. The anticipation built with each passing moment as the plane ascended, the ground below becoming increasingly distant.
As you reached the desired altitude the plane's door opened, revealing the vast expanse of the sky below. The rush of wind and the sheer height were both exhilarating and intimidating. Locked in tandem with your instructor and Lewis paired with his, you prepared to take the leap. And then the world around you turned into a blur of colors and sensations. The initial rush was overwhelming, but as you acclimated to the sensation of freefalling, a profound realization began to form in the back of your mind.
Upon landing safely back on solid ground, a brief silence enveloped you. The gravity of the experience left you momentarily speechless, lost in thought. Noticing your quiet demeanor, Lewis approached you, his concern evident. "Did you enjoy it?" he asked softly.
"It was... intense. I'm still processing it." You hesitated, trying to find the right words. Lewis nodded, sensing there was more you weren't sharing. "Is everything okay? You seem a bit lost in thought."
At first, you brushed off his concern with a simple, "It's nothing." But Lewis, ever perceptive, gently pressed on as you got back to the car, his hands reaching for yours encouraging you to open up. Taking a deep breath, you finally confessed, "The jump made me question how little humankind really was, how vast and boundless the world truly is."
A smile spread across Lewis's face, his features almost successfully hiding the happiness that you had gotten the point he tried to show everyone "It has a way of putting things into perspective, doesn't it?"
The drive back to your hotel was quiet, the tension palpable in the confined space of the car. The city lights began to paint fleeting shadows across Lewis's face as the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm, golden glow. His tattooed hands gripped the steering wheel tightly, his focus split between the road ahead and fleeting glances in your direction.
"Would you like to grab something to eat? I don't want to let you go just yet," Lewis ventured, his voice laced with a subtle reluctance, yet an underlying desire.
Your eyes met his, a playful glint shimmering in your gaze as you assessed the situation. His profile, illuminated by the soft dashboard light, was a stark reminder of his reputation and allure.
"Sure, where to, then?" you replied, your voice light and teasing, yet laced with a hint of challenge.
Lewis chuckled, his lips curling into a knowing smile, the glint in his eyes intensifying. "It’s gonna sound so pretentious, but my hotel has this amazing pasta."
A soft laugh escaped your lips as you leaned back, the thrill of the moment coursing through your veins. Of course, that's where the evening was headed. He was Lewis Hamilton, after all, a man known for his lavish tastes and adventurous spirit. You'd heard the stories, the tales of his countless escapades and magnetic allure. You were just another name on his list, a fleeting encounter in the grand tapestry of his life.
Yet, as the playful banter continued, a sense of pride and daring took hold. If you were destined to be just a footnote in his story, why not make it memorable? Why not enjoy the moment and embrace the excitement?
"It sounds as indulgent as you think, but I'd love to spend a bit more time with you," you replied, your voice dripping with playful mischief. Your fingers reached out, brushing against his hand that rested on the console between you, feeling the warmth and strength of his grip, a silent acknowledgment of the mutual attraction and intrigue that simmered beneath the surface.
As Lewis parked the car and led you towards his suite, the atmosphere was thick with anticipation. The soft lighting and luxurious rooms added to the intensity of the moment, casting a romantic glow that heightened your senses.
Once in his suite, Lewis turned to face you, his eyes searching yours with a mix of desire and uncertainty. "Are you sure about this?" he asked, his voice low and husky. "I want to make sure you're comfortable."
Your heart raced as you met his gaze, captivated by the sincerity and respect in his eyes. Despite the playful banter, daring adventure and certainty you held that you were a hook up, Lewis's concern for your well-being was there and it shocked you for a bit.
With a shy smile, you nodded, your voice steady yet filled with anticipation. "Yes, I'm sure," you replied, your words also echoing the desire you felt. The tension was palpable as Lewis leaned in, closing the distance between you. The world around fading as his lips met yours. His hands found their way to your waist, pulling you closer so you could really feel him.
The sensation of his lips against yours sent shivers down your spine, the chemistry between you undeniable. The intensity of the kiss deepened, the boundaries between playful banter and genuine connection blurring as you both surrendered to whatever it was that made him so incredibly irresistible.
As you both pulled apart, catching your breath from the intensity of the moment, a playful smirk crossed your lips, a thought crossing your mind.
"Do you have a condom?" you asked, your voice filled with anticipation. Lewis's eyes widened slightly at your forwardness, a hint of surprise flashing across his face before a confident grin replaced it. Without a word, he reached for his pack on his backpack, pulling out a condom and holding it up for you to see.
"Of course, you'd have packs with you," you mused, your voice dripping with playful mischief and a hint of mistrust. The allure of the moment, the intensity of the connection, and the thrill of the unexpected encounter had led you both to this point, and you, for sure, wouldn’t turn back now.
Before you could say another word, Lewis silenced you with another passionate kiss, the intensity of the moment deepening as he pulled you close. His hands found their way to your waist, lifting you effortlessly and carrying you towards the bed. The soft fabric of the sheets beneath you, the warmth of Lewis's embrace, and the intimacy of the moment combined to create a sense desire that was intoxicating.
He was going to be yours, if only for one night. And in that moment, there was nothing more you could wish for.
As the first light of dawn hit the curtains, the sound of running water from the shower echoed in the room. The luxurious suite was bathed in a soft glow, the remnants of past night still lingering in the air. You stirred from your sleep, the sheets tangled around you, Lewis's scent lingering on every fabric, surface and memory. The night before played in your mind, a mix of passion, connection, and lust that had led to a whirlwind of emotions.
With a sigh, you sat up, the reality of the situation settling in. You knew that this was a fling, a one-night stand. Despite the intensity and allure of the shared moments, you were aware of the nature of what had happened.
Gathering your belongings quietly, you moved with ease, ensuring that nothing was left behind. The weight of the morning, filled with the silence and anticipation of how you were about to leave, added to the bittersweet nature of the encounter.
As you slipped out of the room, the sound of the shower continued, the steam and warmth of the bathroom contrasting with the cool, early morning air. The suite was filled with what if’s and wishes, mostly yours, mainly yours. The thrown-out pieces of clothing a reminder of something you were meant to never see again.
With a final glance back, you stepped out into the hallway, the memories of the shared moments and the intensity of the connection lingering in your mind as you closed the door behind you. You brushed those feelings aside though, telling yourself that this was for the best. You had to protect your heart, guard against any attachment. After all, Lewis Hamilton was Lewis Hamilton, a superstar in the world of Formula 1. And you were just an engineer, living out your dream but still feeling out of your league.
Surely, it meant nothing for Lewis and you would probably never see him again. Your future was at Ferrari, somewhere he would never step foot in.
Or would he?!

Yuri may not have been the loudest he could be when he was aggravated but it was impossible to sneak up on Romeo in the VIP room unless you could simply teleport(or you were invisible or. . .) as you'd be very apparent on multiple cameras walking through the casino. So Romeo knew he was coming. He knew he was probably going to show up today. He would have told the guards to be ready but it would have been superfluous. They knew people were coming for his birthday anyway. They surely saw the gift in his hands.
For Yuri's better manners, Romeo was also in a good mood and smiled, pleased by the sight of the containers and the wine, not even minding that he was showing his eagerness on his face. He made a little space on the table for the basket, allowing his underlings to take over the laptops he was watching. It may have been his birthday but he was, indeed, working--somebody had to.
He picked one of the lotion containers up to open it and get a whiff of the gentle smell. "Variety is never something to complain about. And that is my favorite label! You know me so well. Would you like a glass or do you think that would inhibit your work too much before you get back to your lab? Of course if you'd like to balance it out with food, I won't complain. Or if you want something lighter I was gifted these lovely chocolates today that I think would pair well with this wine. . . ."
Yuri doesn't come to Sinostra in person often, but today was an exception. Today of all days, he was prepared to be on his best behavior, carrying a small basket with him as he steps up to the germ gen students guarding the VIP room. One was unconcerned, the other panicking slightly (he thinks he had to reset a dislocated shoulder for him once and he's never looked at Yuri the same way since). "Romeo is expecting me." They glance at each other. "Do you want to explain to him he's receiving this delivery late because you dared to question me?"
"N-no sir, go right ahead."
"Thank god you have some brain cells left that work," Yuri scoffs and steps into the VIP room. Romeo is working, as usual. It was one thing he could always count on Romeo to do, at least, and that was his job. He always had a good amount of respect for him for that.
Silently he sets the basket on the table in front of Romeo, pulling back the covering cloth and revealing two small tubs wrapped in ribbon and a single bottle of wine. "The lotion I promised. I couldn't decide which scent would work better for you so I simply used both." Yuri taps the wine bottle, "an Italian import for you. This label's still your favorite, isn't it?"

🪷WEDDING🪷
Rafe Cameron
“Mija, you can go on ahead to the club” I raise my head to watch my parents dressed up for something other than the country club. “We will meet you for dinner” My mother nods to my fathers words, sending a smile over to me.
“Remember to talk with Francine about the party” They didn’t wait for an answer, already halfway out the door. Ever since I could remember we barely spent time as a family. It was rare to get them at dinner so I knew that they weren’t going to be back for dinner. They remembered birthdays and holidays but other than that, nothing. They were there for some school events but I stopped letting them know about the few last ones my senior year because I felt like I was begging for attention.
“¡Bye Hon!” My dad screamed as the car backed up in the driveway. I closed the door and turned to get my purse.
“You need me to tell Jerry to get the other car ready?” I look over, shaking my head.
“No, thank you Ruby. I will drive myself today” She gives a gentle nod before walking away. As I get into the car I think of not even going but then I turn it one and I think I could skip the country club for today and maybe go to the beach? Then Francine comes to mind and I lose all hope of having a nice day by the waves. Once Francine sees me at the club she will make sure I stay there and I have to see her because she is part of a wedding I am helping plan. Francine is an old friend of my parents, like a second mother and since she has no kids she bestowed that onto me. I make my way to the club and before getting out of the car I take a deep breath and walk in.
“Miss, so glad to see you, how are your parents?” I jumped, hearing the enthusiastic voice from the club's host.
“They are doing great”
“That's amazing to hear, well enjoy your evening” He smiles quickly before running off to his next victims that were just walking in.
“Alone again?” I closed my eyes trying to calm my beating heart down again. People need to stop doing that.
“I feel like I should be reciting Shakespeare right now?” My head moved up seeing Rafe lean over the balcony. Light salmon pink shirt with a fresh buzz cut and the never missing gold ring. “O Romeo, Romeo! Wherefore art thou Romeo?” I lift my hand mocking chivalry. Rafe chuckles, shaking his head.
“So that makes me Juliet?” I shrug my shoulders
“Fuck that, there is no shame in a woman senerating a man” He stand up straight and with a smile, he looks down.
“Well continue my lady,”
“Deny thy father and refuse thy name;” Why was I giving it my all? I laugh inside at my stupidity right now. “Or, if thou wilt not, be but sworn my love, and I’ll no longer be a Capulet.”
“You always had a way with words” He smiled leaning back to his original pose.
“Yes,” Our heads turn to see Francine walking over to me with an unamused look. “Words she decides to keep hidden,” I smile respectfully, giving her a hug. “Hello Rafe,” I held an amused grin on my face. She was literally throwing daggers at him. We knew she didn’t like him, can you blame her? Rafe has a reputation.
“Francine-” She didn’t wait for him to finish before grabbing my arm and pulling me away from the club’s entrance and onto the garden.
“I thought you two were no longer friends”
“We are not,” I said rapidly, I lied quickly on my feet.
“I hope not, he's not a good boy for you my love,” Another smile, what I wanted to say was, “I know what i'm doing. I am too smart to fall for Rafe Cameron but if I did, I will take the blame” I only nod at her said advice. “Now, how about we talk about the wedding?” For a good hour I was following her along the country club and making notes on what exactly she wanted for the wedding. More flowers, clear chairs, mirrored floor, a release of butterflies, and no color other than sky blue and white of course.
“What were you thinking about the ceremony?” She lets out a quick squeal before rushing towards the cliff which was only a small hill with some height overlooking the beach. I walked quickly to see what she was pointing at with such a huge smile.
“We agreed on the beach,” I hear a contempt sigh leave her lips. Her shoulders fall and her eyes soften at the vision of the bride getting married there. “Can’t you see yourself there too?” Too focused on her happiness and excitement, her question caught me off guard. I look down again but quickly shake my head. “You have planned such beautiful weddings, where do you see yours?”
“I can’t set my mind on one,” I chuckled nervously. It wasn’t the whole truth but it wasn’t a lie. Of course I know what I have wanted for my future wedding since I was 6, but as a wedding planner there was one thing I hated the most about planning and it was the grooms. All they did was walk behind the bride, nodding and smiling. Agreeing on everything. I want to think it's to make them happy because a wedding was made out to be more for the bride but hearing the groom speak they let out subtle comments about no caring. I want my future husband to care. I want him to be present in what is the beginning of our future. I want him to be the bridezilla along with me.
“Well don’t settle for only this view” She pointed out. “You can have a destination wedding like somewhere in Italy.” Her eyes grow bigger, “Or the south of France!” She jumps giggling at her ideas. “I am going to go look at venues now, you know how easily they can book up!” There was really no use in saying it was too early to think about my wedding because nothing can change that woman's mind when she gets this excited about something.
“I need a drink-” I closed up my book and was ready to leave when I heard a voice from the shore.
“I got an extra beer” My gaze meets Rafe holding a beer up. “Is it too trashy for you my lady?” My eyes stay glued to him and a small smile appears on my face. “I don’t know any Shakespeare if that's what you want to hear” His arm slowly falls to his side. I look over to the country club and catch a glimpse through the window only to catch Francine rushing out of her office.
“Not trashy Cameron” I smile as I take a seat on the hill. “But I don’t drink beer,” I carefully push myself off and balance myself to walk down the steep hill until I am standing in front of Rafe.
“Worth a shot” He shrugs, putting the beer in his pocket. “I know you don’t drink at all.” I shake my head noticing he only had one beer in sight.
“Honey?!” Our heads turn toward the top of the hill to find no one there but the scream of my name becoming louder and louder. Francine can wait another day
“How about you offer me an escape?” With a glimmer in his eyes he grabs my hand and rush's us down the shore. I take a glimpse unsure of the object but as we move closer I start to laugh. “You bring this everywhere just in case?” My breath is shaky, I am not used to running. I look back seeing the figure of Francine screaming out to me but I choose to turn back to Rafe.
“Who knows when a lady needs my saving,” He puts out his hand for me to take and I oblige. He helps me up to a small row boat and I take a seat on the furthest end.
“Need help?” Rafe shakes his head pushing us offshore and he rushes to get in. “Daddy wouldn’t let you use his yacht?” I smile. I look over to the horizon, as the sun meets, perfectly creating an orange hue.
“No,” He groans, making me chuckle at his annoyance. “Don’t want to risk leaving it unsupervised since those pogue pulled their little stunt on Toppers”
“You always ruin it with your talk about pogues,” I roll my eyes looking back at him again. His arms stop rowing at his eyebrows furrowed.
“It 's true!. Little dirty pogues who don’t come close to us should be taught a lesson soon and for good” I never associated myself with what he would call somebody a pogue but that's because I don’t see them as such. My life has consisted of following my parents and at school and work I am only surrounded by people who are considered good. I never leave my bubble. But money or no money, people are people. As long as you are a good person, you are rich in my book.
“You know,” I look straight into his eyes. “You always mentioned how little Francine makes you feel, do you realize that's how you try to make them feel?”. His small smile falls into a straight line. “Would you want me to treat you less just because of some stupid status?”
“It's not the same, those pogues!-”
“Are human Rafe,” I let out a sigh knowing this conversation was just like the past. “Human beings who weren’t blessed with opportunities we have. They work day and night. It doesn’t matter what their bank account says if they have a good heart.” I move closer to him. “I know you have a good heart too Rafe.” I move my hand under his chin to pull him closer. “That's why I choose to disobey my parents and Francine once in awhile,”
“We tried this once already” He whispers. A slight smile appears on my face remembering how I like and feel having him this close.
“I still have hope,” His forehead rests on mine and a slow breath leaves him. “It was wrong of me to try to change you,” my thumbs caressing his skin.
“I was acting too proud and stubborn. Everybody saw me as such so it angered me.” He opens his eyes, putting a bit of space between us. “I was willing to try but I didn’t want to disappoint you”
“It wasn’t a choice for you to decide what is right for me. I told you I didn’t care about what anybody said and if it went down in flames, I could handle that.”
“But you don’t deserve-” his words paused as I came closer. My lips on his but only for a longing quick kiss to shut him up.
“You put yourself down when I see you more than worthy. Worth the eyes of people judging. Worth the scolding of my parents and definitely worth the hours of talk Francine is sure to give me” I hear his chuckle along with mine. “Do you think we should try this again?” He nodded eagerly, grabbing my neck and pulling me closer but I was quicker and set my hand between us first. “Rules”
“Fine” He groans, pulling apart. He shakes his head before turning his body towards me. “Date night twice a week,” My head falls back in annoyance. When we first tried having a relationship it was hard to adjust. I wasn’t allowed to have a boyfriend and Rafe knew this and decided to stick around. Of course, not being my boyfriend, I wasn't allowed to go out past 8. Not to any party or bonfire by the beach. I was also busy with school and starting my job as a planner to make time for him. That was bad on my part and we had a lot of fights because of it. I also didn’t like going out much, more of a homebody.
“Fine, but one at home date” He whispers okay. “No Pogue talk unless necessary” We need to talk about the important things first.
“Got it.” He smiled at that?. “When Francine is present you give me my place,” I roll my eyes.
“She is a strong woman but I promise.” I would defend him when need be and when it's reasonable. “but if I have to throw myself against her you have to promise not to back down when not only Francine stands against you” my parents can be a handful too. I watch as he stands up placing his hand on his chest. I laughed mostly because the boat was rocking unsteadily. “Rafe!” I hold on looking up at him again.
“It isn’t what we say or think that defines us, but what we do,” I stood up carefully and was shocked at his words.
“You don’t know Shakespeare but you do Jane Austen?”
“You left a copy of her book behind and I got bored,” I rolled my eyes knowing that wasn’t true. “But back to my confession,” I look back as we try our hardest to stay steady. “I will prove to them that I am willing to be someone they see worthy of you.” I walk closer, placing my arms around his neck.
“The only opinion you need is mine, and I think you are worthy” I whisper as he lowers his head to meet mine.
“I have seen enough!” I turn around shocked but only to see a blurry Francine at shore screaming towards me. “Get back here young lady!” Those were the only clear words heard before Rafe and I went flying into the water. My body resurfaced laughing at the action. I look around finding Rafe swimming towards me.
“Am not ready to face the world yet” I smile hopeful towards him.
“And am not ready to face Francine yet so how about we row away?” I nod turning towards the boat. “You don’t have a curfew?” I groan hearing his laugh from behind me. He pushes me up and I slide into the boat.
“Never got to be a rebel teen, I think I have some headaches to make up for,” I turn to help him climb in.
“Then let's go.” he smiles, taking his place and rowing away. “This is not a good look on my part.” He laughs looking back at Francine. “Will definitely be hearing about this,”
“Such a bad influence,” I grin looking at him. “Guess what?” His eyes sparkled hearing my giddy tone.
“I saved your beer” My grin grows bigger as he laughs. I throw him the can and with ease he catches it.
“That's my girl” his girl.

Rain's ambience was the only sound countering the silence at Saltburn. The shocking and devastating event of your best friend, Felix Cattons death had struck the whole estate with grief, and panged at their hearts. It felt like the tedious emotion was beating their insides with a stick, continuously.
You didn't know what to do with the information. Yet, it didn't matter, because all you could do was be paralyzed with anguish and the only way of expelling the trauma was crying, or screaming, however you couldn't even bring yourself to do either. You hadn't anyway, since the morning you found out.
The Saltburn Estate now lacked a sense of emotion and charm, Felix had brought and it plagued you with sorrow. Especially, considering Cupid had took his ghastly toll, and had struck you with his arrow, resulting in you pining and yearning for the dark haired boy.
God, you were so mad at him. Not for dying, not for leaving you too early, but for the simple fact that he was too goddamn oblivious to even give you five minutes together, happy and mutually in love. Giving you zero confirmation and satisfaction that you were star-crossed lovers destined to be. But, even Romeo and Juliet, despite being soulmates, had to reach their harrowing fate.
You and Felix only got to experience platonic interactions and it made you so regretful. If only you had stayed with him for five more minutes he would've took you into the maze, and not a random girl from the party. If only you had stayed five more minutes his death could've been avoided and you could be warm in each others embrace, lazily kissing, in the comfort of Felix's bed. But fate had other plans.
You weren't sure if you were supposed to be mad at yourself, or feel guilty for being too afraid to tell him your true feelings earlier, or if you were angry at Felix's oblivion. Wasn't it obvious? The way you looked at him alone, said a million words of adoration and infatuation. Wasn't one look enough? Obviously not.
And the worst part was, you were too late. At Olivers birthday party, you had enough of seeing Felix with all of these girls, not only at functions but back at Oxford as well. So you decided to face your fears and actually do something about the throbbing wound of Cupid's arrow, right in the bullseye of your heart.
You had always been studious and gifted at writing essays, so you did what you do best and wrote Felix a letter. You looked guiltily at it, as it sat on the night-stand. His name written in red sharpie on the front of the envelope. Your emotions, thoughts and true feelings towards Felix were laced upon the parchment and he never even got to know, let a alone see, touch or acknowledge the paper on which the confession was even made.
You sigh, getting off of the bed on which you had been residing for the better part of forty-eight hours, that being Felix's bed. Your hair was distressed, your shirt, one also of his and face stained, with old mascara and tears. You grabbed the letter off of the night-stand, and headed down the many corridors of Saltburn out to the burial spot in which Felix was lying.
The rain caused you to become drenched in a matter of seconds but letting Felix know your true feelings, rather late than never was way more important than worrying about the possibility of obtaining the common cold or worse Influenza.
You sat on the wet grass in front of the headstone. Trying to fight back the immediate tears that started to brim in your eyes, you spoke up.
"Erm, Hey Felix," you sniffed, "I really miss you a lot..." you paused, waiting for the one in a miracle chance of hearing his voice, and him telling you it was a cruel prank, but alas, with delusion comes reality and Felix's voice was never heard. You wiped your tears softly and proceeded to speak.
"I know it's too late and all but I wrote you a letter, I was going to give you..well I uh, did give you, I slipped it under your bedroom door, but uhm..you never came back to see it, so I'm going to read it now." you said, fumbling with the paper softly, tearing away at the envelope. You cleared your throat, quietly before reading the letter.
"Felix,
We've known each other since the beginning of our time at Oxford, and it's safe to say you're my best friend." you began, looking up at the headstone momentarily before continuing,
"However, there's something I haven't been telling you, and I've just been way to scared to tell you but honestly this would be way more easier if you weren't so goddamn oblivious." you chuckled softly, wiping your tears once more.
"So now Im being the bigger person and telling you that," you paused briefly taking a breath before continuing, however it's not like it mattered.
"I'm in love with you, and have been for a while now, Felix. I want to hold the hand inside you, I want to take the breath that's true." you admit to the boy, showcasing your plea he's never going to respond too.
"I look to you and I see nothing. You go off with all these other girls and it hurts because I want to be one of those girls, Felix. Not only one of those girls but the girl, Felix. I don't want to be another hookup, that's not what I'm saying, I'm saying that I want to have something real, be something real to you." you rant, like he's actually here and his fictious presence is making you flustered. You can almost see the teasing smile on his lips now.
"But I look to you to see the truth and I don't know what it is...you live your life, you go in the shadows. You go off with these other girls, you'll come apart and you'll go blind, to what's actually in front of you." you continued, "It's some kind of night in your darkness or a blind spot I swear, I thought I saw love in your eyes but I just colored them with what's not there." you confessed.
"I'm fading into you, Felix and it's kind of embarrassing that I'm falling this much for you, and quite honestly it's kind of strange you never knew." you gently confronted. "I'm literally a mess around you, even Venetia and Farleigh figured it out in a heartbeat. I'm honestly surprised they didn't say anything." you chuckled.
At this point, you were drenched, and the letter now fairly wet, and your handwriting just enough eligible that you could barely make it out.
"Long story short, Lix, I'm in love with you, I have been for the longest time and I will always be in love with you. Y'know like they said in those cheesy rom com movies we watched together, 'right person, wrong time.'" you recalled, now discarding of the letter in your first as you went from your heart.
"But goddamn, I'm so surprised you never knew." you admitted, shaking your head slightly a slight chuckle escaping your lips once more. The rain continued and you now concurred that it was time for you to go back inside. Things weren't going to change, you were still heartbroken, and will continue to be. Grief marked it's territory and has spread like mold throughout your body, but at least you know he knew.

When Miles asked Y/n to be his plus one, she almost couldn’t believe it. His delivery was cool and casual as if he didn’t invite her to a party with all of his family and closest family friends in attendance. They had become official a little over a month ago (though Miles swears it’s been longer), so the first family gathering was a big deal, a huge milestone most couples put off until much later. When she tried to explain to her boyfriend the significance of this event, he didn’t understand. “Don’t start stressin’. It’s jus’ my abuela’s birthday party,” she remembered him saying.
Abuela?
Abuela!
If his grandmother was anything like Rio Morales, Y/n would be walking into a lion’s den. Miles did nothing to placate her worries, making her do the exact thing he told her not to do: worry.
The weekend had arrived and so did the much anticipated birthday party. Y/n spent a considerable amount of time getting ready, choosing a tie front top with a cami underneath and satin skirt to combat the sweltering city heat. She double checked every angle in the mirror before leaving her apartment.
The corners of the gift envelope addressed in her elegant script were slightly bent from being clutched in her nervous hands all the way to Harlem. It was easy to find the building. Y/n simply followed the booming sound of music and laughter to the rooftop. The party was already in full swing. Half of New York showed up to celebrate Gloria Morales’ 70th birthday.
Y/n moved through the packed party-goers to the gift table, not seeing a single familiar face amongst them. She felt out of place. Does she introduce herself? Wait? Look for Miles? Certainly he wouldn’t leave her to brave his family alone. A tinge of panic settled in her stomach as she looked again.
“You lost, babygirl?” Y/n nearly jumped out of her skin hearing a strange voice beside her. The boy was taller than her and around her age or a little older. His feather duster of a mustache curved with his smirk as his leering eyes roved her head to toe slowly. Painfully slow.
She prickled, immediately raising her guard. “No, I’m just waiting for someone.” He glanced around, seeing everyone engrossed in their own conversations.
“I ain’ never seen you round here before. What’s your name?” Y/n hesitated to answer, but gave him a curt reply. “Thas cute. Real cute.” This was a party after all, the point was to mingle. And she didn’t want to seem rude. She had no idea who this guy was. He might’ve been a cousin, a family friend, someone who could easily say the wrong thing to the right person about her. “You know how to dance?” The night was starting to look very long.
Where was Miles?
⋆
Miles was very late. On his way, but late. His mother has surely noticed his absence by now. Abuela was definitely asking about him. And Y/n…she was probably already there. He cursed himself underneath his mask. That last job was pushing it. There was no time to go home, change, and take the subway like he originally planned. Luckily, he knew a shortcut through the skyscrapers and shadows of New York.
The window of his abuela’s apartment squeaked as it slid open. Miles rushed to shed his Prowler persona in the guest bedroom and stuff the suit in his bag. In a second, he appeared to be a normal teenage boy despite the forming bruises. He prepared himself to face the wrath of his mother, grandmother, and girlfriend. What he was not prepared for was seeing Y/n about to be pulled to the dance floor by another guy. They were close. Too close for his liking.
Something burned inside Miles, one he was reluctant to identify—jealousy. Dare he say doubt? He was new to the boyfriend thing. Sometimes he said the wrong thing, silent at the wrong times. But he tried. Was Y/n already fed up? There was no denying she was gorgeous. She could pull any guy she wanted.
He stalked closer, effortlessly weaving through the crowd. “Oh, come on! I’m not asking you to marry me. Just one song.” The guy tugged at her again. Miles recognized him. Eric and his family were friends, though Miles only endured his presence when they were forced to be in the same place. They’d never gotten along, finding each other to be a nuisance and a relationship beyond neutrality unnecessary. But that little understanding might just end right here, this was not about to fly on his watch.
“I told you I don’t want to dance,” Y/n separated herself out of his grip. The sheer expression of disgust on her amused Miles. She found him as annoying as he did.
Eric made the mistake of reaching towards her again. He had the chance to back off and it sounded like he had been warned more than once. This was not about to fly. Miles decided it was time to interfere. He swiftly placed himself at Y/n’s side, his footsteps soundless, a skill learned from his…side hobby. “La escuchaste, cabrón. Retrocede.” Venom laced his tone, an unspoken threat at the tip of his tongue. The air turned to ice around the three of them. You heard her, cabrón. Back off.
The confidence drained from Eric’s face. He knew good and well Miles was not to be messed with. There were rumors about him and his penchant for beating anyone who pissed him off into the ground. “Ella es tu chica, Morales?” He stepped up to him in a vain attempt to mask how intimidated he really was. Miles moved Y/n behind him. She watched the standoff silently, keeping a hand on Miles’ bicep in case it went south. She’s your girl, Morales?
Miles tilted his head, sneering down at the posturing fool. “Sí, ella es mía. Ahora déjala.” Yeah, she’s mine. Now leave her alone.
“No estaba tratando de hacer nada,” Eric scoffed. He turned his attention back to the pretty girl hidden behind Miles. “If you get tired of this asshole, come find me.” I wasn’t trying to do nothing.
Miles lunged, thankfully, with some supernatural girlfriend sense, Y/n was quicker and held him back. Eric flinched, his fear visible for that split second. Heads turned. “You need to calm down, Miles.” Her hand made its way into his, gently pulling him away. He backed away, never breaking his cold glare from Eric.
⋆
Together they left the party. Miles muttered curses in Spanish Y/n couldn’t catch as he stomped down the stairs. “Miles! Miles, baby, slow down!” She called his name again. “You not ‘bout to make me run after you in these shoes!” He stopped. His jaw was tight, eyebrows set low on his face, hands burrowed in his pockets to hide his balled up fists. Damn. Even seething he was gorgeous. “We talked about this. You gotta talk to me.”
He was silent for a few moments, he merely stared down at Y/n as she wrapped her arms around his middle. His heart pounded in his chest. (It was because of her. Miles refused to admit those lustrous eyes and her touch still had such an effect on him) “Ian like seein’ you wit him. Shit pissed me off. For a minute I thought…” She fixed his collar, avoiding his gaze to keep herself from smiling. “Nothin’.” Miles was jealous and willing to protect her by any means necessary.
Y/n heard the words left unspoken. Miles was a fortress locked up tight to keep the outside world out. But behind his many walls he was a boy with feelings and insecurities. “Miles, I’d never do that. I like you too much.”
“Yeah, I know, ma. Sorry for gettin’ all upset.”
“‘S fine. That’s not what I’m mad about.” She eyed the fresh bruises coloring his cheek and temple. “Where were you?” At this point, she was more concerned than angry. Miles wasn’t inclined to long conversations, but he was decent enough to send her a text. Although dry and vague it was something. Y/n would take what she could get.
Miles stiffened in her embrace. “I had to take care of some stuff. Don’t worry ‘bout it. Lemme make it up to you.”
“You owe me a dance.” Prying it out of him would get her nowhere. She decided to let it go. Just this once.
“A dance?” he asked. She grinned, happy to catch him off guard for once.
Y/n nodded. “Mrs. Morales told me you’re a wonderful dancer. Don’t be holdin’ out on me.”
His sigh was long and deep, directed towards the ceiling of the narrow hallway. Miles was in no place to refuse. He took her hand and started walking. “Alright, but we not goin’ to the roof.”
He led her to his grandma’s apartment. It was sizable and definitely decorated by an elderly woman. Y/n admired the photos sitting on the mantle. There was Rio and Jefferson Davis, dressed in white for their wedding day. She paused on a picture of an infant covered in paint, smiling from ear to ear with two teeth. She awed at Miles. He was so cute, so carefree without the shadows of the world dragging behind him.
“Ven aquí, mami.” He stood in the middle of the living room, hands outstretched, a song playing behind him from his phone. She peeked at the song as they joined hands. Come here, mami.
“Eres Mía” by Romeo Santos.
The song was unfamiliar to her. “What? You thought you was gonna to twerk and grind on me?” His low chuckle sent shivers through her. She didn’t answer. “Nah. We gon dance for real. Bachata.”
“Wait, Miles. I don’t how to—”
“Imma teach you. Two steps to the music. Thas all it is,” he showed her. Y/n mimicked him, each step hesitant and unsure, but Miles was encouraging and a surprisingly good teacher. “See? Easy.”
He raised his arms to spin her around and brought her closer. Y/n faltered. “Aye, come on, mami. I know you can move your hips better than that.” He repositioned, hands at her back and waist, his thigh between her legs, ruffling her skirt. Miles guided her across the floor, his fingers wandering to the trim of her cami, drawing a distracting trail of heat on her bare skin. Her own hands found their way to his nape, brushing his twin braids as they swayed to the beat. Soon she found her rhythm.
“There you go,” he praised, rolling his hips into hers. She followed. Her body trusted him. She trusted him wholeheartedly and fell into his lead.
They rocked together in silence, the song having long since ended. Miles nestled in the crook of her neck to breathe in the sweet scent of her perfume. “Thank you for helping me. I should have said so earlier,” Y/n said from above him.
“It’s my job, princesa.” Miles left the softness of her neck. “Eres mía.” You are mine. Y/n blinked while he returned to her warmth. She hoped he didn’t feel the way her temperature rose.
In three short months he made a place for himself in her life. He was the most unexpected surprise. She had a list of the ideal boyfriend and Miles Morales didn’t check off a single one. Yet everything never felt more perfect than in his arms, dancing to the distant sirens and traffic.
His phone buzzed from the end table. “Is that your mom?” He shrugged in response. “We should go.” Y/n suggested, but Miles’ grip only tightened.
“One more minute. They can wait.”

That was a bit faster than expected. What happened to evening?
But no complaints there. As comfortable as he was sitting with the Misty Streetlight and its constant rain(no dry November air for him, thank you! Not with his skin!) while making frivolous purchases with Leo, he was more than happy to go home after a long day and he bid his friend farewell to start heading back. It was getting a bit chilly anyway.
Omw
What are you planning?
Normally he wouldn't trust Taiga to free reign over the House and casino but. . .he was a bit more together today. Nobody had texted him that things had gone to hell. The bus would be the fastest way back to Sinostra but he hated the idea of taking public transportation if he didn't have to. He couldn't help but look into the price of cars and a Vespa on the way back. Just for fun. Of course his standards were too high and his remaining time spent on Darkwick was too little for such a purchase.
He hadn't gone too far regardless--just in case there was an emergency--but it did take him a while to get back home. He'd had plenty of rest so he wasn't hurting too much by the time he got to the VIP room. Taiga likely wasn't paying the cameras any mind, so he wouldn't have noticed Romeo freeze when he was close enough to the door to hear the sound of keys from within.
Oh.
Somehow feeling cautious, as if expecting an anomaly had taken over the room to trap him in some kind of memory, he slowly let himself into the room. He became a little distracted by the rather out of place banner and he surely would have thought more of it if not for catching sight of his gift.
"Boss." He took a few steps towards him, lips slightly parted. "How did you. . . ."
He shoved the clawing calculations of just how much the piano must have cost down into somewhere he could sit on them.
Hey Lulu
Wallet's on your desk in the VIP room
You know my pin
Go have fun today
Don't want you back before evening
It'll be a surprise
(blundering-thoughtless-hooligan)
And go where? We're on probation, remember?
I'm not going to recklessly spend your money like you!!
Not that there weren't places on campus to go and spend his--well, Taiga's--money. He didn't know the last time he'd had a day to just spend on campus. . .as much as he resented being stuck on campus the place was huge and plenty of students had businesses and things. Few to his standard, of course--Hotarubi had its artisans(and Mortkranken had a few who studied anomalous applications for dermatology and esthetics, although he wasn't a big fan of being part of experiments or going to Mortkranken more than was strictly necessary) so maybe he could walk around there. . .frankly most of what he did lately was within Sinostra, even when he had time to himself.
. . .I'll try and spend some time away. But this little surprise had better be worth it!!
Maybe he could see what Leo was doing? Or go to the museum? Rui wouldn't be opening his bar for hours.
. . .more importantly he needed to spend time somewhere he would be able to sit down every once in a while. He supposed he could order some things offline if Taiga's truly insistent on him using his card. . .

Masquerade Ball [Starter]
@glorifiedstreetmagician
Jin enters the ballroom from the second floor, clad in mostly white. Omitting the cape for this occasion, he opted for a frock coat and vest with red and gold accents. To top it all off, a red ascot tie and a simplistic mask adhering to the same scheme. Although he didn't typically wear these colors, he had been partial to a Venetian-esque look, with the masquerade theme in mind.
Before the Frostheim captain descends the staircase, he makes a brief assessment of the room from where he stands.
The majority of the guests seem to have already arrived, judging by how populated the vicinity appears to be. Thankfully, Frostheim's ballroom had been built larger than average to accomodate for a high volume of guests. The stage for the live performances stands in the center, and an open bar is set up to the right of it close by. And while the dance floor accounted for a considerable chunk of the room, plenty of dining tables litter the outskirts of the chamber. As always, the attendees would have unlimited access to free refreshments and food.
Ever since the clash, the only people that typically attended the Frostheim balls were either the house's students, corporate members of Anomalous Research Institute, or random bureaucratic bootlickers that his father invited to preserve his reputation.
Thankfully, that piece of shit consistently opted out of attending these events himself.
It was an unspoken agreement that the two of them had. Jin would play the part of being a sophisticated heir in the public eye, so long as his father kept his interactions with him limited. Only when it was absolutely necessary, would Jin expect a text from him. The passing of the captain's mother instilled an impervious level of resentment towards the president.
Jin never liked his father growing up, but now he could say without a shadow of a doubt that he absolutely despises him. If it weren't for that morally bankrupt lunatic, his mother would likely still be here, after all.
Tohma was right about one thing. The captain didn't always paint the best image of himself. He could be selfish, demanding, cold, and even a little petulant. All byproducts of being given anything you could ever want without risk.
If Jin is to carve his own path properly, he must make decisions that his father would not. That meant being charitable. It meant finding the model balance between compassion and austerity. Conclusively, it meant being someone who's worthy of respect.
Darkwick has been falling apart since the clash. Petty grievances aside, there are many students that Jin had become close with early on, and still cared for to this day. With the unpredictability of the academy and their intentions, more than ever, the houses needed to reunite. That's why he sent out invitations to all of them, after all.
Jin catches Haku's eyes from the floor below. The vice-captain smiles and makes a gesture to indicate that the stage is set. Taking that as his cue, the captain strides down the staircase and makes his way to the stage.
The two of them had planned to start out the ball with a neoclassical piece. It has been a while since Jin performed in front of a crowd and he didn't intend on being on stage himself for more than one song. The captain neglected to properly wish Romeo a happy birthday the day before, so he decided to pick a song to celebrate that.
Shostakovich’s Piano Concerta No 2, a cheerful piece that had been written for the composer's son on his nineteenth birthday.
Jin isn't sure if the Sinostra vice-captain showed up. Either way, he doesn't make a habit of rubbernecking into a crowd of people, particularly at these events. The plan would not change regardless.
So, Jin settles himself onto the bench beside the stage's piano and looks to Haku.
“We ready?”

Random Veronaville Headcanons
I have been Veronapilled so now I have HC's to share with the class :)
-Titania started a tradition within the upper-class society of the Sims world ( besides the Capps think the Goths, Altos, Vanderburgs, Villareals) where for her and Oberon's anniversary she hosts a ball where all other Sims families travel out to Veronaville for a month in the summer and they have small social events throughout the month where they can socialize and set up business deals and their kids can become friends or like date. but on the last night, Tatiana has this huge Ball where all the guests and Tatiana's family dress up in white except Tatiana who wears a colored animal print
-The Monty's own a restaurant that is very successful and Romeo is set to own. Which Romeo very much tries to push on to Mercutio because Romeo likes to cook and all but he does not want to own a restaurant and neither does Mercutio. This is a common fight till one dinner when Antonio is sick of listening to them fight so he tells them the restaurant will be his till they figure it out. Romeo and Mercutio never figure it out.
- Consort constantly calls Kent, Kenny or Kennedy. Because Consort swears that he has 4 daughters. Not because he hates Kent just because he swears that when Kent was born in Roaring Heights he was a girl but when they moved to Veronaville Kent was male(This is based on the fact that when I played the Capps in Roaring Heights baby Capp was female)
-Consort has a very much once it's 9:30 I don't care what goes on in my house because I am in my nice soundproof room. Consort got his and Contessa room sound proofed after her realized he was going to have 4 teenagers at once
-The Capp grandkids take advantage of the fact that Consort doesn't care after 9:30 way more than Consorts kids ever did
-Tybalt and Juliette are the worst offenders. They both sneak out and sneak people in constantly, Even worse there has been times where Tybalt was trying to leave at night and Juliette took his car to do the same
-It's also bad because several time they have both ran into each other sneaking in the Monty Brother and they start fighting about if we are going to the same place don't take both cars and then its weird and all four of then just watch a movie
-Tybalt just doesn't like Romeo. not even in the way of the feud. He just doesn't like him as a person
-Juliette and Romeo get married really young. Like too young, Like they lied about their birthdays and went to Tartosa over the summer and got legally married at 15 before there sophomore year of high school
-Tybalt and Marla Biggs graduated in the same year and are best friends
-Tybalt and Hermia Share a birthday
-Juliette is really only called Juliette by Consort and her Aunts. She prefers to go by Jules.
-Puck lowkey hates Veronaville and moves out to travel and only visits for holidays and his mom's month-long party

Happy birthday to Michael "Mickey" Crespo!
Today is his -506th birthday!
Mickey was born on Luna to insurrectionist parents who died during an attack on a government building. He was placed in foster care, and enlisted in the UNSC at age eighteen, as military conscription was a requirement to leave foster. After his mandatory service, he chose to remain in the military, and eventually joined the ODSTs.
Mickey was part of the ODST squad Alpha-Nine during the Covenant attack on Earth. The squad was given orders to destroy the Covenant carrier Solemn Penance, until their orders were suddenly changed by Captain Veronica Dare. After getting separated in New Mombasa, Alpha-Nine would eventually regroup and assist Dare with her real mission: to secure a Huragok--an organic Forerunner construct with a natural drive to repair and an invaluable wealth of knowledge about both Covenant and Forerunner technology. They would succeed in capturing the Huragok, surrendering it to ONI.
After the end of the war, Alpha-Nine went right back into deployment against the Insurrection. Mickey resented fighting against humans immediately following an extinction war. After a standoff with an insurrectionist leader led to the death of the Rookie, Mickey's disillusionment with the war and the UNSC became exacerbated.
Alpha-Nine was offered admission into the SPARTAN program, which the remaining members eventually accepted. During his training, Mickey met Rudolf Schein, a fellow trainee and member of the United Rebel Front. Schein began to convince Mickey to join, but then died in a skirmish after he was found to have murderered another trainee who refused to join the URF.
Mickey met Schein's father at his funeral, and finally decided to quietly defect from the UEG. Alpha-Nine was sent to combat the rebels yet again, at which point, Mickey revealed his allegiance. He and Buck fought, with Buck knocking him unconscious and handing him in to Jun-A266. Mickey received a life sentence and was imprisoned on a Spartan training facility. These events led to the dissolution of Alpha-Nine.
When the Created conflict began, ONI scrambled to find a way to combat Cortana's Guardians, as the massive contructs were capable of oppressing entire planets without any way to fight them. Captain Veronica Dare began calling back the members of Alpha-Nine, including asking Buck and Romeo to free Mickey. Though Buck heavily protested, Dare needed someone with the URF's trust. She discovered a colony that possessed cloaking technology that the Guardians could not detect, but the colony was occupied by the URF. Dare felt that the only way to convince the colony to share with the UEG would be to bring one of their members.
Buck eventually relented, and Alpha-Nine, minus the Rookie, reassembled. Buck and Mickey spent much of this time arguing, with Buck believing Mickey to be a terrorist and traitor. They were eventually able to convince the mayor of Cassidy III to permit ONI to study the cloaking technology, but the colony was then attacked by a Guardian. Mickey saved Buck's life during the evacuation, and the iciness between them began to thaw.
Once back on Infinity, Buck convinced Captain Lasky and Commander Palmer to let Mickey remain free while the Created continued to be a threat. Mickey attended Buck's wedding, and Alpha-Nine was reformed as a Spartan fireteam. However, his fate after the hostilities cease (if they ever cease, it is Halo) is uncertain.
In canon (~2560), he is turning 30!

FanFic Recommendations for Feedback Fest 2024
Since the 15th of Feb is apparently fanworks day I’m doing an early list of Fic recs to celebrate in no particular order from various fandoms that’ve taken root in my mind at some point or another.
Fatumonagatari By ScyllaAlter
Fandom: Fate/Stay Night | Rating: T+ | Ship: A mix of everyone in Fate/Stay Night but with an emphasis on Shirou/Saber
Shirou Emiya becomes the center of several conflicts, each surrounding a different girl.
(This is an entire Monogatari au)
Forever and Ever By DreamyMarry
Fandom: Bleach | Rating: T+ | Ship: IchiRuki
Rukia talks to the most important women in her life, makes plans and gets herself a fianceé. Ichigo just wouldn't argue it was quite in that order.
In Vino Cogitatio Bona By Strypgia
Fandom: Neon Genesis Evangelion | Rating: T+ | Ship: AsuShin
December 4th, 2015. Everyone is at NERV HQ trying to get the Third Child out of Unit-01. No one cares Asuka is alone and feeling miserable on her birthday. So she decides it's time Misato's forest of bottles does her a favor. After all, Misato thinks liquor is the solution to everything, right? Asuka's turn. And of course, this leads to Good Ideas...
Trains That Lead Me Back To You By Skylin3
Fandom: Persona 5 | Rating: General | Ship: ShuMako
Makoto simply has too much to deal with right now. She just wants to go back and focus on what really matters to her; her education. Maybe someone will be there to cheer her up.
Makoto Niijima Week Day 6 - Train
Gradually By Croeses
Fandom: Persona 3 | Rating: T+ | Ship: ShuYuka
Makoto, Yukari and moments throughout the year.
A Battle Of Love and Piracy By SonnieCelanna
Fandom: My Hero Academia | Rating: T+ | Ship: IzuMomo
Izuku and Momo have been friends for years despite their wildly different stations, and their favourite game to play together was always "Pirates and Solidiers.", in fact Izuku would claim Momo was obessed with pirates. So what will she do when he gets kidnapped by them in an attack on their village?
Seeing Red By SpellCleaver
Fandom: Star Wars | Rating: General | Ship: LuMara
Luke and Mara visit Vader on Mustafar to break the news of their engagement.
The Future We Build Together By Tren
Fandom: Fate/Stay Night | Rating: General | Ship: Sunny Days Trio (Saber/Shirou/Rin)
Rin did not expect her day to be interrupted by the need to help her boyfriend (not-exactly-legal mage) and her girlfriend (Actual King Arthur), but some things can't be helped.
Especially, when you love them very much.
Crossroads of Fate By PumpkinTeacup
Fandom: Bleach & Doctor Who | Rating: T+ | Ship: IchiRuki
It was Ichigo’s birthday, and Rukia was not going to visit.
But fate was a funny thing. While some events were fixed into the flow of reality as if carved into stone, others only needed a slight nudge into place for destiny to unfold as it should. Even in the form of a simple meal with her time-traveling friend.
For Ichiruki Month 2020, AU week, Day 20: Romeo and Juliet
Flash Fire Photography By AriadneKurosaki
Fandom: Bleach | Rating: T+ | Ship IchiRuki
The annual Eighth District Firefighter Calendar is always a big hit, raising millions of yen for charity and causing more than a few fires of the metaphorical kind. When her boss gets sick at the last minute, photographer Kuchiki Rukia steps in to make sure the project stays on schedule. It's just a photo shoot, and she's a professional. It can't be that hard to take pictures of a bunch of firefighters for a good cause, even if they're posing shirtless.
She didn't really count on one particular firefighter being hotter than the fires he's supposed to put out...
