Another brand new photograph has been discovered
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The photo shows Alexandra Feodorovna, Tatiana Nikolaevna, Anastasia Nikolaevna, and officers. Tatiana is sunbathing, a particular favourite pastime of the girls.
No information on the album it is from yet, but it looks like it was taken in Mogilev, likely 1916, in my view.
As always, it was discovered by the wonderful Ilia, lastromanovs on flickr. Спасибо, Илия!

@princesscatherinemiddleton’s Royal Fandom Summer 2024 Photo Challenge
Day 27: Favourite summer-themed photos of royals at Balmoral Castle
This is a series of footage clips containing several members of the British Royal Family including Queen Victoria, Prince Arthur of Connaught and his children, Princess Helena Duchess of Albany and her children, and also Tsar Nicholas II and Tsarina Alexandra Feodorovna. This is sole of the first footage taken of most of these royals (except the Russian couple whose 1894 coronation was filmed) and is a perfect example of how the BRF vacationed at Balmoral (the location of the footage).

“The only thing Maria does is talk. During breakfast, after, during rides. In short, whenever we are [with her], and there is no way to stop her.” —a disgruntled Tatiana, 1916

New photographs of the last Romanov family (scroll to see them all!)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Some of the photographs were previously only available for viewing in very low resolution - see these photos for before vs after to show the difference!

The photos mostly originate from the meetings of the Romanov family with their Hessian relatives: the Tsarina’s brother Grand Duke Ernst Ludwig, his wife Grand Duchess Eleonore, and their children, Georg Donatus and Ludwig. Photographs include the family on the Standart yacht, in the Livadia Palace dining hall, and at events greeting the public, from around 1910 to 1912.

“We went up to the first floor and immediately saw the Emperor and Empress and all their children who were in the dining room, sitting around the table as though they were having a meeting. We bowed politely, and they responded with a friendly smile. The Grand Duchesses got up immediately and all four rushed into their bedroom to help move their beds for us. As I remember it, they were neither in the least scared, nor in the least sorrowful. Their bright eyes gleamed with happiness, their short hair was in disorder, their cheeks were rosy like apples. They were not dressed like princess in a fairy tale, but wore simple black dresses that weren't very short, with lightweight white silk blouses with rather high necklines.”
— Evdokia Simeonova, cleaning lady at the Ipatiev House, July 1918
