“because he never accepts that it's never been about righteousness--it's about repentance.” except javert killing himself IS repentance.
well, it’s like 12 different things, because bro had gone days without sleeping and very little food and water and he already had low self-worth and kept asking the amis to kill him and just assumed he was going to die AND THEN valjean upended his understanding of the world and morality. he was really going through it & there are a lot of overlapping reasons for why he jumps into the seine.
but javert is like Number One Most Responsible guy in the whole story. taking responsibility is his Thing (forever bitter the musical doesn’t include the punish me monsieur le maire scene). how else, in his derailment, could he atone for his conceived misdeeds other than by handing in his resignation to god? in the brick he had already left a note urging his superiors to treat convicts at toulon better, which is another step in his repentance (and another crime the musical commits by not including it). jumping into the seine was another step.
honestly a lot of ppl who like the book think the musical was dead wrong to exclude him from the big heaven group sing, because it COMPLETELY undermines the themes of forgiveness and compassion threaded throughout les mis. like the musical was simply wrong lol.
This is helpful context! I am still finishing the brick, although I have fully read the abridged version, and that detail about the letter wasn't included, so I didn't know that occurred! (And thank you for the message--this is a long response but I'd love to hear more of your thoughts!)
I agree that Javert is certainly deeply distraught and remorseful; like you mentioned, his worldview is literally falling apart, and his actions reflect his mental state. But his death isn't really repentance--in the sense that it's not what God would have wanted. To me it reads like a Judas situation: a desperate realization of a huge mistake, and doing the only thing you think can make it right, namely, ending it all. That's the just punishment for someone so wrong, isn't it?
But true repentance, meaning the repentance that the Lord desires, is about changing your ways, not "paying a price." Had Javert really understood the beauty of Valjean's mercy (an image of Christ's, just as the bishop's undeserved mercy was to Valjean himself), rather than killing himself, he would have lived to also become "an honest man"--in heart. One who could forgive and understand forgiveness, for himself as well as others. One who could recognize that he is not The Law, that he can fall, but that he can also be "brought to the light." One who could accept that men like Valjean, and men like himself, CAN change, and be changed.
It's tragic to me because so much of "Stars," and his character in the book as well as the musical, is about wanting to be righteous, to rise above his birth and the sinfulness he associates it with. It's about wanting to please the Lord by his actions. But in his end, he shows he never understood what God really wanted from him, and that's where my original phrase comes in: not righteousness, but repentance. To live, and face the man you were, knowing it's no longer the man you are. That it's never been about what you've done or can do, but about what's been done for you. That's the Gospel that he could never fully accept.
To use another example you mentioned, that misunderstanding drives why he asks the Mayor (Valjean) to punish him--in his worldview, mercy is unjust, or at the very least, unfair. Evil must be punished; "those who fall like Lucifer fell" receive "the sword." But "as it is written," God "desires mercy, not sacrifice" (Matthew 9:13). God would have wanted Javert to live, and Javert couldn't see that, and that's why it's devastating to me. In his misunderstanding of the heart of God, he misses what would have set him free from the chains of sin he's always been trying to escape.
That's why he's contrasted with Valjean, who (though he carries guilt about his past till the end of his life) is eventually able to face it and confess what he had done to those he loves. He knew there was mercy to be found, if only it was asked for. Javert was too blinded by pride and shame to realize it, and so, while broken, he never was able to truly repent.
For that, you must go on.
#i have a lot more thoughts on this specifically as it relates to pride as javert's fatal flaw. that's what kept him from grasping it all#because fundamentally he believes what he does is what sets him apart as righteous. that's the symbolism of the brand: your deeds define you#so if it's actually been about mercy all along then he has been needlessly cruel when he thought it was righteousness#and all of his actions that he thought made him better have been for nothing. he's carried shame for nothing. been a slave for nothing#les miserables#les mis#inspector javert#responses aka the ramblings of my brain#my meta posts#meta#kay can i just catch my breath for a second#no actually i'm still not done just needed to interrupt for the search tags etc.#shame is only possible where pride is present#that's my hot take. if javert had been truly totally humble he would not have killed himself. he would have accepted the gift of life#which is the same gift we are given in christ!! and that's honestly why it isn't repentance because the whole thing is a christian allegory#his suicide shows that he still regards himself as judge. he determines the punishment#and in his song the lyrics are full of things like 'damned if i'll live in the debt of a thief' 'i'll spit his pity right back in his face'#he is too prideful to accept the gift that christ has given: salvation UTTERLY unearned and undeserved. through grace alone#narratively he represents the Law (old covenant) in christianity and those who still choose to live under it#romans 3:20 says 'therefore by the deeds of the law shall no flesh be justified in His sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin'#but valjean represents one saved by the new covenant. who can see that his 'righteousness is as filthy rags' (isaiah 64:6) and is redeemed#and that is why ultimately from a narrative perspective valjean has salvation and javert does not#not that javert did not see his wrongdoing but that he could not look past his own 'righteousness'#anyway this was all very christian-info-dump but the book is too so i feel it was justified 😂 but that's my interpretation#would love to hear more thoughts if you have them!! i truly hope this didn't come off as combative bc i mean it super genuinely!#kay has a party in the tags#kay is a musical theater nerd#kay is a classical literature nerd

silly roman roy ramble beneath cut
gay roman is great to me because it shares sooo many of the themes that are already associated with his character through the canon physical abuse that he exclusively received. nothing comprehensible at the moment but just like… isolation and whatnot. his abuser died, so he should feel liberated, in theory. but he doesn’t. and i enjoy analyzing roman through a (deliberately a little exaggerated, admittedly) Gay Lens because why not? does that concept of a lack of liberation not transfer to roman’s queerness, effeminacy, “deviance?” is it not a huge part of the reason he was abused physically? not only was he raised entirely detached from the queer community (obviously), and therefore would be forced to seek it out for himself, but any endeavor to seek it out would put him in danger– publicly, personally, physically. so the natural result is the evasion of this community and identity, which is incredibly easy but equally as unfulfilling and lonely. but… logan’s dead now, so this incentive to evade and deflect should be gone. again, he should feel liberated, in theory. but he doesn’t. because where does one even begin to interact with the community that they’ve not only never encountered, but also contributed to the harm of (via atn) for decades? who knows. god. whatever. this ramble is nothing

Asteria my beloved
Something about being able to avoid both Poseidon and Zeus (even if that was just Roman, unsure if that has Greek sources), helping her sister by giving her a place to give birth and basically saying ‘let Hera do whatever she wants, just come here. I don’t care about her threats’, being Hecate’s mother (in some versions), having an awesome title (I mean. Titan goddess of falling stars.) and having a normal marriage afaik just really makes me love her

(cw kinda vent) believe me you do not want a sibling </3 im a little codependent on my older sister (2 years), and my attachment to her got so bad at some point that i thought i had bpd (lol!!). trying to stay independent of her is the bane of my existence.
she taught me everything i know but sometimes i wish i was an only child. btw, what's that really like?
Wow, that's so interesting. Honestly, I could see myself being that codependent to my sibling. Because I do get the same with my friends. Recently, my friend/roommate for about 4 years moved away, and I am discovering how to be myself apart from her. Ik it isn't remotely intense to a sibling situation, but that's the closest I've experienced lmao.
Alsoo being a single child is pretty lonely, I'd say. There are perks ofc. But I've always envied sibling relationships in media and people around me. Always fantasized having someone like that. Someone who's family but can understand you more deeper than your parents ever can because they're around your age.
But I'd be so possessive of that person to the point it isn't healthy anymore lol. Maybe kinda like Dean is about Sam. Probably why I relate so much to Dean too. Honestly I could talk so much more about it but not gonna go on a mental health rant here 😬.

Sanders Sides in my style (including FANMADE Orange Side and Character!Thomas), where I mashed up Thomas's appearance in golden-age SS, modern-day SS and my personal artistic liberties!
Rambling commentary on design choices under the cut...
Love it when people take design inspo from his dyed hair era and make it color-coded to the other sides through the power of artistic magic
Gave stubble and ear piercings so he looks closer to his current appearance
Decided to give Character!Thomas that one jacket he really seems to like rather than the popular Steven Universe shirt bc it reflects his current style more
LOVE it when people give Roman scars- also gave Remus one across his eye to make him similar to Roman
Speaking of Remus... I removed the silver streak bc it's kinda a hassle to draw and doesn't really unify him with the others (also clutters his design) + just gave him heavier facial hair rather than a full-mustache
Janus's snake-side is usually a washed-out green when Thomas has his make-up so I made it more vibrant! I usually hate drawing Janus bc bowler hat + snake scales is a STRUGGLE but I like how he turned out
ORANGE SIDE ORANGE SIDE
His hair is spiked and swooped back to make him 'disheveled', 100% believe Thomas will wear orange contacts so he has those, and gave him short-sleeved leather jacket to relate him to Logan's short-sleeves

It's tiiiime to copy/paste my ordered ramble on the Vampire AU to have it archived here as well!
Tumblr media
· Neo was born in the Late Middle Ages (around 1250), and the Vanille family turned her into a vampire around 1275, when she was in her middle 20s (25).
· It was around the age of the Industrial Revolution that she broke free from her family by killing them, after many years of training to hone her skills and develop her special powers.
· She was the heiress of the Vanille family, but in reference to canon, her relationship with her parents was less than ideal. There was a lot of drama with other vampire families, like if they were mafias. · Being born in such an early era made the ignorant populace (and even her parents) to believe she was cursed from the start or possessed by an evil entity (because of her mutism and heterochromia).
· As a side note, the cruelty of vampires not being able to reproduce in this world lead vampire families of renown to kidnap newborn children from humans to raise as their own, all before turning them into vampires at late adult ages.
· Neo never got to meet her biological parents- not like she ever got the need to do so in the first place.
· Modern setting unless stated otherwise. Ethnicity wise, she’s also a British Italian in this AU.
· Born Trivia Vanille, but she goes by the name of Neopolitan to everyone. Only really close people to her know of her real name.
· In this world, vampires develop special abilities aside of the base vampire powers. Neo’s powers are illusion-based, pretty close to how her Semblance works in canon.
· On the set of base vampire abilities, she’s good with vampire shapeshifting- turning into bats, mist, cats, wolves, and even a monstrous form. Her illusions feel more cold and less real, while shapeshifting physically changes her. She’s also good with dream invasion and telepathy.
· She’s pretty cruel when it comes to treat humans, for she only sees them as food and her playthings. However, the exception of this case is Roman Torchwick, who is actually just a normal dude in this AU, yet, he’s Neo’s best friend and partner in crime.
· Neo is pretty much an independent and free vampire. She helps Roman with robberies and other crimes, lives doing whatever she feels like doing.
· A lesbian (expected). In fact, she’s close to Cinder, a vampire of Salem’s vampire family. She’s her closest vampire buddy, and the woman she goes out with when it comes to vampire-natured mischief and cruelty. Neo is the reason Cinder became a vampire in the first place.
· Born mute, she can communicate via telepathy in this AU. She likes to scare people with it, but tries to avoid using it too much because it's not her preference.
· The first vampires that started to create their bloodlines all come from different origins, so there are small differences between each line, and Neo comes from one in which the vampires are specially talented with shapeshifting and illusion-based powers. Dream invasion too.
· While I didn’t define it too well yet, the idea is that the first vampire of her line was more related to the fae than say, an evil god or a demon of some kind, even if at the end of the day, all vampires are quite demonic in nature.

One of my favorite things about being in the Sanders Sides fandom is seeing the last names people come up with for the sides when doing AU’s
Tumblr media
These are the ones I came up with… YEARS ago now at this point, I’m curious to see what yall use
I know Foster for Patton is probably the most common one. I see Storm for Virgil a lot which… eh not my favorite. Crofter or Croft I see a lot for Logan, which I kinda used as inspiration for Crawford. Roman (and sometimes Remus if they are written as brothers/twins) I see Prince a lot which… I don’t know, I get it, but to me is too on the nose. I honestly don’t know what I see for Janus a lot. How I came up with Zeno, Irving and Forrest is I just looked up last names that related to their characters. Like for Virgil it was “dark/spooky last names”. Roman/Remus was “royal last names” and Janus was the hardest, I think I just ended up looking at medieval last names or something like that and found Zeno and liked it
Then of course you got the “who’s going to get the Sanders last name”, which I’ve mostly noticed it with Logan or Virgil getting the Sanders last name
I’m kinda rambling at this point, but recently I’ve been sucked back into this fandom and reading a lot of fan fiction so I wanted to point it out and talk about it

hey, everyone!
My name is Ley (pronounced like "Lee," she/they) and I'm a fiction writer/editor based in the PNW. I haven't done a proper writeblr intro in a while, so I figure the new year is a great time to reintroduce myself to the community!
— about me
An important thing to understand about me and the way I talk about writing is that this stuff is literally my entire life. Even outside of work, I don't think I have a single interest or hobby that doesn't relate back to storytelling in some capacity. I'm an avid media consumer and critic, and will hyperanalyze just about anything that catches my fancy for more than a minute.
I love science fiction and fantasy, and my goal as a writer is to take all the genres I loved growing up and create stories that are a little more diverse, inclusive, and queer.
— about the blog
I came to writeblr mostly to share my work, but also to find an active community where I can get excited with other writers and talk shop. Marketing is obviously a really important part of the publishing industry, but I get tired of having to filter every thought I have about my work and experiences through the lens of aesthetic micro-trends just to put it out in the world. Sometimes I just want to pop off about scenes I'm proud of, you know?
Above all else, I really just want to connect with more writers like myself, ones who got their start in fandom spaces and are working to take their writing from a hobby into a career. I see you, I am you, I love you, let's be friends!
You’ll definitely see me posting and reblogging a lot of stuff that isn’t necessarily related to writing, so be ready for that. My art exists in the context of my personality and the world as a whole, and I simply do not have it in me to maintain a whole separate blog for silly nonsense and memes. Just consider it a way to get to know the writer as well as the writing!
— about my writing
I write a lot, though most of it is disconnected nonsense. Flash fiction and short stories are where I really thrive as a writer. I don't tend to commit to long-form projects, but I have a few projects that I'll occasionally share details about!
I like to describe my style as "earnest and character-forward," which is a fancy way of saying that I like driven protagonists who think too much and are emotional to the point of it being a character flaw.
My goal is to share more of my original writing moving forward, so hopefully you'll get to see all of this for yourself. If I'm totally honest, though, you'll probably see more of me discussing my work than actually writing it.
— about my projects
Here are the things you'll most likely see me posting about:
Agnomen: A sci-fi retelling of Hamlet and Coriolanus, currently in its very preliminary stages. It is literally my Roman Empire, except it's set on a moon of a planet that I'm calling Jupiter as a placeholder (but please note that it isn't actually Jupiter, as Jupiter is a gas giant and therefore a scientifically impossible setting for large sections of the plot).
Alter Ego: A superhero fic in which not-so-mild-mannered reporter Drew Derrick fights for mutant rights and can't seem to get his act together when it comes to keeping the complicated parts of his life separate.
Untitled Fantasy Project: The very first project I ever wrote, and the piece I return to every so often when writing is feeling more like a slog than a fun hobby. I set a lot of one-offs in this world and follow a few key characters around without them having a real plot.
D&D: I write a lot about Baz, my Wild Magic Barbarian. He's a regency noble with a lot of problems, and I care about him very much. I also have various other settings and characters, but he's my most active PC at the moment and therefore gets the most attention.
Short Stories: Sometimes I write these, and sometimes I like them enough to share!
— tag directory
ley rambles: my (often wordy) opinions about things
ley writes: not necessarily my writing, but talking about my writing
my writing: stories, blurbs, and other content I've written
not my writing: reblogs and creative writing that I liked, shared, and sometimes commented on

I've been on and off debating this for a few months, but finally decided to do it:
Tumblr media
tattoo (my first) is courtesy of my amazing partner!❤️ little ramble under the cut.
(xiii is the roman numeral for 'thirteen'!)
Everything about this show-- but specifically the character of Thirteen-- has given me an ability to put things into words that I never imagined I would be able to express, let alone connect with other people over. It's been such a comfort for me over the past... almost year and a half, especially so now that I've been thrown headfirst into the reality of being chronically ill and getting diagnosed with a genetic condition over the last few months.
For the rest of my life the number thirteen will hold such lovely significance for me. A lucky number. A symbol of a character I relate to, take comfort in, and adore (and who happens to be one of the best-written lgbt+ characters of her era, let alone when compared to a lot of present day characters). And, most importantly, a symbol of my own personal healing and growth (especially because writing In the Dirt has been so incredibly healing for me so far & will continue to be).
Lucky thirteen, indeed.

sander sides
-please ramble if you want-
Tumblr media
[ click for better quality ]
[ artist : x ]
i was lowkey waiting for this hehe
Sanders sides is a web series created by (as far as we know) a singlet, Thomas Sanders !
he originally created it as a way to differentiate parts of his one personality, the "main" parts that make up his personality as a whole
one of the ex-writers of the earlier seasons of the show had actually mention how accidental the plural-coding of sanders sides is ! ( we cant actually find the post ourselves, the blog has been deactivated </3, but the tldr (as far as we remember) of it was; "we didn't make sanders sides as a way of being system-coded at all, but we appreciate the systems who can relate to it!" )
the main reasons why it could be read as plural is because at the end of the day each episode is thomas (the character of the creator, not the creator himself) speaking to "himself in his living room for twenty minutes"
the way the show is formatted is through youtube videos with thomas(actual guy this time) actually casted himself to play the 'sides' as they are aspects of him as a whole.
Whilst DID isnt a personality disorder; theres a lot of aspects of sanders sides ( a show about One Personality and the many aspects of One personality ) that many systems ( myself included ) can definitely relate to; "We have the same face" as a reoccurring joke, "talking to yourself" also, and of course the repeated mentions of the sides being in thomas's head
what makes them Not plural though: >the sides don't (in general terms) front or, 'take over' thomas's body*
*there is a caveat to this actually: roman and logan can each control one arm, but this is a reference to left/right brain capabilities (a persons left brain having control over the right side of a limb and vise versa)
>i went over this at the beginning but; each side is only a part of thomas as a whole, they are not their own people like headmates are; the sides are just "a side of thomas' personality"
So
Is that plural ?
Rating: there is many aspects of sanders sides that are relatable for systems but at the end of the day it is not plural

Another Analogical ramble
Am I ORIGINAL?, in my opinion, seems to be where Virgil starts to take a liking to Logan. He likes that Logan is opposing Roman's idea of pure originality, he's impressed by his rapping, he smirks when Logan remarks "this is what we get for making [Roman] the leader", etc
He starts to feel a sense of affection for Logan, despite it being very muted, because he doesn't feel alone anymore. He's not the only one who opposes Roman, he's not the only one getting insulted and put down.
That's why when Logan calls Virgil a defeatist at the end of the episode, Virgil really seems to take it to heart. He doesn't say anything after that and sinks out in silence. He's hurt that the person he thought he could relate to was never actually on his side like he thought he was.
Cut to My NEGATIVE Thinking, and Virgil is SOUR. As soon as Logan starts to oppose Virgil's ideas about Thomas' performance, he claims that he's taking Roman's side. Logan makes it a point to underline that he's not on Roman's side and never said that he was. That says to me that Virgil is so stuck in the idea that he's alone again that he jumps to accuse Logan without substantial evidence.
It's obvious that when Logan begins to compliment Virgil he's shocked. He thought that Logan didn't like him not only because he called him a defeatist, but also because he felt isolated by him at the end of Am I ORIGINAL?. Logan telling him that he did good for participating despite not wanting to, claiming that he doesn't mind his company because the other two are overwhelming, and even saying (albeit not outright) that he thinks Virgil is capable of sophisticated thinking is surprising.
That's the springboard for their relationship. In previous episodes they had a very weak connection (including Logan saying that Virgil was the antagonist and Virgil just kind of weakly defending himself) but obviously there's more to My NEGATIVE Thinking than just a debate between the two characters.
I love them so much, AnalogicalReasoning ramble over <3

Hi! I have an interesting question to ponder over! What are your thoughts regarding the connection between the Greek Gods and their Roman counterparts? I'm pretty sure I've seen people regard them as one and the same, but I'm not so sure: I got approached by Aurora, not Eos. I saw you work with Venus so I'm curious how you experience this 😊
Hi!! I wasn't ignoring your question or anything - I wanted to give your ask some thought!!
So, for me, distinguishing between the Roman and Greek counterparts is a bit difficult if I'm not yet familiar with their energy. When I first started working with Venus, I thought it was Aphrodite, and I was convinced that I could only ever work with deities in one Pantheon, not several. But then, when I went abroad earlier this year and saw The Birth of Venus by Botticelli in the Ufizzi in Florence, I couldn't tell you what it was, but there was some kind of realization that hit me at that moment that told me that I had been wrong the whole time. Going to Italy made me have a lot of religious and spiritual realizations that I didn't have beforehand.
For example - Hermes. Or Mercury. In my mind, these two titles were incredibly synonymous with one another, and they always had been until I went abroad. In Italy, I ran into several sculptures or figures that represented Mercury. And it was always specified, same for Dionysus vs Bacchus, and now, I understand that this entire time I've been working with the Roman Counterparts of these deities! My entire relationship with them!!
And every second that I recognized, Oh, I've been worshipping the wrong deity, I had a moment right after of, Well no, I'm still worshipping them. I've just been using the wrong name. I've been working on changing the names and labels in my head from Greek to Roman, readjusting myself from one to the other. And I'm seeing hints through my entire practice that shows that I've been working with them the whole time, I've just given into the pressure that I have to stick to one pantheon. This is why Loki approached me. To help me break out of that "One Witch One Pantheon" mindset.
So, what I'm saying is, I see them as two separate entities with an overlap. It's like a Venn diagram. Obviously, there are similarities. But there are still differences. And these differences may vary from practitioner to practitioner. For me, Mercury feels a lot more impulsive and laid-back than Hermes does. Mercury likes to encourage me to be more impulsive, chaotic, and - in his words - anarchistic. But back when I thought he was Hermes, he was far more tame. Still impulsive, but not to such a degree. Or with Venus vs Aphrodite, Venus is a lot more assertive with the way we talk or collaborate now that I regard her as Venus instead of Aphrodite. It's the wrong name for them. With Bacchus, I feel a lot more of a slightly older presence, wiser, but still relaxed and in the mood to party. He still has that impulsive, unhinged feeling to him, but it isn't nearly as intense.
But these are a lot of words to say that I see them as being closely related to one another, I use the analogy of fraternal twins a lot in some cases, because there are instances where the counterparts are very distant from one another.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask! I hope this makes some semblance of sense, I just tend to ramble, ha! Blessed be, and may the Sun be your guide! A domani!

Trigun Ultimate Fan Guide Volume #1 (Geneon second edition, 2004) and Book #2 (Pioneer first edition, 2002) front and back covers.
Scanned by me.
Information and me rambling about the books beneath the cut:
In addition to episode summaries, character bios, and general information about the show, these books contain Trigun-related game materials for the "Big Eyes, Small Mouth" (abbreviated as "BESM") TTRPG system produced by Guardians of Order.
While I've never used them for the game, I've read the show guide portions many times. There are some mistakes by the author but otherwise it's a really nicely done fan guide. The guide section is printed in full color and has TONS of screenshots (albeit low quality) and official artworks. The game portion is black and white and in addition to the game information, there's lots of great quality scans of set materials (larger than the versions in the Roman Album artbook!!). If you're a big fan of the 1998 anime, I definitely recommend picking them up if you get the chance!
I found the copies pictured above for sale together years ago at an anime convention, I think it's interesting how there are actually 2 editions (due to Pioneer becoming Geneon in 2003) and that I managed to end up with one of each version.....
There's also a combined hardcover version of these books called Trigun D20 that was published in 2004 under the Geneon name. I've seen a PDF version of it, I think a few minor things are omitted from the guidebook portions but I have not analyzed them closely enough to be 100% sure. I am also unsure if the game portion is altered due to it being advertised for the D20 system on the cover, but there's still a mention of BESM on the back. honestly I know nothing about TTRPGs so I really have no idea what any of this really means lmao

Good morning (or other appropriate time-related greeting) Tulip!
I was rereading Fish (because Emmy is fantastic) and I had a question-- in your fic The Butterfly People Effect, would Emmy's story be different?
At first I was just going to ask you, but then I started gathering evidence as a bit, but then it spiraled a little and now I have a Theory.
My gathered evidence is as such: I believe it was Roman who was approached by the pixies who took her in the main storyline, but I can't remember where in the story that was. If I remember correctly, the pixies asked Roman about her and if she was happy, and he said yes, but left out that she was happy because she was away from them. This means they were still around, and is also confirmed in Fish, when Emmy a. can see flashes "of small yellow wings" and b. tells Virgil that she wants the pixies to leave her alone. In TBPE, Logan is able to be less at-odds with his status as a fae and is more confident because of it. While he doesn't interact with the pixies who took her, he does have a lot more interactions with other fae, and I don't think it's outlandish to assume he might know who they are and what they did. Finally, in Fish there's a bit about Emmy not being allowed to talk about fae things, including Logan, but that she had watched him when she could, but could never "work up the nerve" to talk to him, implying that she really wanted to.
My conclusion based on this evidence: I think, in TBPE, Logan might have reached out to Emmy first (maybe as a 'Offering an apology from my season to you, because that was Not Okay'?), and because Logan is Logan and Emmy is Emmy, eventually gained a little sister out of it.
My math: Emmy was 10 when she was taken, and she was gone for 7 years, and 16 when Fish takes place and based on the other fics in Epilogues & Emmy saying they live in a town she couldn't have imagined three years ago, I think Fish is about 3-5 years after the main storyline. This would put Emmy at about 11-13 when Shit Hit The Fan, and makes she between 3-6 years younger than Logan, which is prime little sister age.
From this, I raise: Logan getting a little sister means Thomas also gets a little sister, and I also think Greta and Emmy interacting when they are hanging on to her while trying to finish the cloak would be fantastic. Thomas is the only sibling of LAMP in LAOFT present at the time of them getting together, which is very unfair to him. In TBPE at least he's gotten to know Greta a little and therefore has backup from her, but adding Emmy to the mix would be a. good for Thomas and b. excellent for the audience to witness.
Anyway, hope my rambling was entertaining for you. Emmy will now forever live in my heart as Thomas's partner-in-crime in TBPE's storyline. (*Cough* Any Emmy Trout crumb you will drop to us is fantastic *cough* she's such a cool character idea *cough*)
(Also, unrelated, but started TBPE with "Let's tell a story. No, not that one." lives in my head RENT FREE and I love it so much.)
this is so cute believe it or not ive never thought of Emmy's place in TBPE and this is so so good, love the concept
