Having an apprentice turns out to be quite useful, so one day, Aster decides to take a second – Madeline – for herself.

Francine puts up a fight at first, but is quickly overwhelmed by Aster's power and surrenders Madeline. Madeline is somewhat perplexed by this turn of events, though finds herself strangely flattered over Aster's determination to have her as an apprentice.

Amelia now has to adjust to Madeline taking time away from Aster teaching her magic.

It isn't terrible, of course. She gets along with Madeline and they can help each other practice. Still, they often end up competing for Aster's attention, and Madeline quickly grows more and more fond of Aster, much to Amelia's dissatisfaction. She was here first. Fortunately Aster still focuses a great deal on her, and she intends to make sure it stays that way. She has to improve faster and faster until she's super impressive.

Amelia definitely has a lot of self-control to learn, but she just can't wait to become a fully-fledged witch so she and Aster can be equals and partners. ✨

Unfortunately, since Amelia sometimes tries to rush things, Aster starts to dread the day Amelia becomes a fully-fledged witch, thinking Amelia is eager to leave her behind. And Amelia does leave, for a while, in an attempt to prove herself.

Even so, she intends to return, because she wants Aster to see how well she's done and accept her as a friend and partner in witchcraft. And maybe other things, too.

While Amelia is off on her own, she visits many other witches.

One is a mysterious girl named Kiku whom Amelia quickly befriends. Another is Jule, Aster's on-again-off-again friend, and the now reanimated body of Jule's deceased sister. The girl who inhabits the body is not the same as she once was, but Jule accepts her anyway and intends to let her have a new name for herself. Amelia did not know the original sister, but she is happy to befriend the new one.
