this is a scrapped scene from Trikaranos & originally it joined a standalone series of comics from Pompey’s point of view, but it got scrapped from THAT set too because I decided they both needed to be weirder and worse and this is kind of vanilla ngl. however I’m still kind of fond of it in some kind of way, and it’s been a second since I’ve posted a comic! also I wanted to draw it. so I did.

for context: Crassus cut his hand open helping Pompey out with something in a previous scene! for more context: the answer to Pompey’s question is a reliable (business/political) partner. that’s about it!

Listen, although I do find it pretty exciting to see Kendall entering his Evil Era and actually becoming a killer, I can’t stop thinking about the consequences of him leaking all the shitty mud information they have on Logan. Like yeah, PR-wise that might be a great idea, it might actually solidify his position as a CEO (and he is obviously going to try and fuck up Matsson deal and take over the Waystar - I don’t know why he would want to captain the fucking sinking Titanic, but okay). But on the other hand, all the dirt coming out about Logan will be potentially catastrophic for Roman. Apart from the fact that Kendall is very clearly betraying his brother, literally like 5 seconds after he preached about them being a team; Roman will very likely suffer the most if stuff about Logan being an abusive father comes out.

First, it will flip his whole viewpoint upside down - he is so deep in denial and so trauma-bonded to Logan that he doesn’t even acknowledge his abuse, not even when in happens in real time. He doesn’t want to see his father as a monster and as his abuser, because that would actually require him to accept that he was a victim, that he was this beaten dog that everyone already sees him as (to one degree or another). Not to mention all the lies he tells himself about Logan and him being a good dad will go straight down the drain, and can you imagine what happens when something you believed for 40-or-so years cracks down in front of you? Kendall is about to break his reality.

Another aspect is that exposing Roman’s abuse to the whole world will likely destroy any and all opportunities that Roman ever had when it comes to rising to power (even if I’m unsure how much he actually cares about becoming a CEO). He might get some sympathy points, although I very much doubt that he will ever accept that form of pity from anyone. His image will be forever tainted and solidified as “the abused one” or the “one that was hit by his dad”. Can you imagine Roman’s reaction when that whole shitshow leaks? He does say at some point in the preview that he is finished, and although it might allude to Gerri putting out the whole dick pic situation, it might also very well be that his public image will forever now revolve around how his dad hit and abused him (his dad who was essentially his god in more than one way, who he was, and is trauma bonded to, who he came back to time and time again).

Kendall has a tendency of using his siblings trauma to forward his own position (even when he wanted to one up Logan in episode 2 by bringing up Roman’s and Connor’s trauma) and this is no different. But it’s a very easy way for him to blow up whatever alliance was ever between sibs. So yeah, I think Kendall as a killer is a great thing to watch, but also… well, Roman girl in me is already screaming in the void from the possible pain we might come to watch unravel in real time.

Ewan's speech was great, but I think his defining moment and something that I think will stay with me is when he tells off Greg (and Shiv, and by extension, everyone else) when they tried to stop him from speaking.

The Roys and virtually all the Succession cast are the rudest, most disrespectful characters I have ever seen in any media, period, and not just because they say "fuck" as a comma every five seconds (though that also gets ridiculous) but because they have no reverence or solemnity for anything. They treat close family, enemies, friends, strangers, business partners, employees, world leaders, whoever they come across, with the same level of (dis)respect, they treat any ocassion to plot and do business and self-agrandize (and this all without ever stopping saying fuck fuck fuckity fuck) even in formal speeches, they say and do whatever insulting nonsense they can think of and they get away with it... they are basically always saying shit, never getting hit.

I cannot think of a more disrespectful thing a human being could ever do that to stop a man from speaking at his brother's funeral. I really cannot. Yes, even if afterwards Ewan did condemn Logan in the harshest terms, the mere act of trying to stop him from speaking is probably the most transgressive, rudest, crude and disrespectful thing I can imagine in a normal, civilized setting, and that's saying a lot from this show.

So I was pleasantly surprised that afterwards, it wasn't taken as a joke, it wasn't forgotten about. They didn't get away with it. Ewan told them, point blank, one of the harshest lines of the show: "What sort of people would stop a brother speaking for the sake of a share price?". And he kept talking, he talked all his mind, and this time, the Roy siblings (and everybody else in attendance) could not stop him from talking, and could not stop themselves from listening with stupid quips and variations of the word fuck. They just had to sit there and bear it and stew in the shame, perhaps for the first time in their lives.

Even if I also find Ewan a big hypocrite (if you "stan" anyone here you're, to borrow some of their language, a fucking idiot), it was an inmensenly satisfying moment that turned the usual dynamics of the show on its head, just leading to the finale.

so largely I’m half referencing this collection of quotes and the various attempts to fill in the space/grave with a body (like Cicero! Cicero was a contender for this!) and I’m sort of taking shots at Antony for fun and whimsy.

like in sports!! I gotta root for my man Cassius over Antony, especially because no one can actually fill the space left by Crassus after his death (literally, the political landscape makes this impossible), but Cassius assumes a command position due to everyone else (notably, Crassus) dying (so: inheriting Crassus’ leadership position) and wouldn’t be a bad follow up to Crassus in the realm of military command since they have a similar (strict, as opposed to friendly in a way is commonly associated with Antony) relationship with the men under their command.

& also bc Marcus Crassus jr seems to be disinterested in taking up space in the political spotlight on his return from the Gallic Wars otherwise I’d be advocating for him on the basis of family tragedy compounded. it’s time to fill the space/memory/grave of your father and brother, buddy!

NAME: "Aviv" and "Dumbass" under Chaldea's records.

ORIGIN: Previously Change, until it somehow.. changed.

DESIGN NOTES: The Seal of Sytry is black, and the command seal only becomes red after Mash is contracted. The shape of his pupil is to reflect the eyes of the demon pillars. The cloak is a gift from David after the events of Timeless Temple, before the mass desummoning. His hair is turning white from the tips rather than the roots.

FAMILY: The Ledbeter family, a once-prestigious and matriarchal mage family who mysteriously all perished in a fire set on their estate. Aviv had previously been assumed to have also died, but after the events of the Final Singularity, the publication of his face gave no choice but to reopen the investigation.

The Ledbeters initially specialized in persuasion magecraft, eventually becoming known for full body and mind possessions and transfers. As an entire family is harder to regulate than instances of Mystic Eyes with that same ability, the Mages Association put into place that the Ledbeters must only use their family magecraft on familiars or prisoners. Thus, the family shifted their focus to familiars ever since. However, all heirs are expected to excel in the original, banned craft, whether they can use it or not.

HISTORY: There are certain familiars not meant to be contracted, but a certain heir had become desperate. In the heir's young age and desperation to escape its own life, The Lesser Key of Solomon became a key item.

The summoning had been successful, the ten year old summoned a full-fledged demon; the Grand Prince, Sytry. While that truly shouldn't have happened, the demon collective had merely sent off a "forgettable" demon to sabotage who they knew would be their eventual enemy.

Unfortunately, the demon became attached very quickly, and decided that he'd have some fun playing house for a while before shoving the kid down the wrong path. Hotel hopping, convenience store thieving, and getting into fights became the norm for the master-and-familiar duo out on the run. Despite the stark contrast from one life to the next, Aviv adjusted quickly. To the stealing and the fighting, of course. Not anything good. Aviv and his totally-not-dad got by on sheer charisma, chutzpah, and brute force.

But, even a delinquent needs a job, and Sytry steered him into the direction of Chaldea, choosing to pose as an average cat familiar.

Luckily, Marisbury loves people with no records and no searchable history, so the job came easy.

...it was enough to make his blood boil, but he at least took solace in the fact that they were changing that.

In an effort to turn the conversation towards something happier and lighter, he asked her in genuine interest, "What do you see, in yours and Randall's futures, I mean.
