Meanwhile, ordering wine at a restaurant can often mean pretending to understand terms like "mouthfeel," "legs" or "bouquet."

"I liked wine the same way I liked Tibetan hand puppetry or theoretical particle physics," writes journalist Bianca Bosker in the introduction to her 2017 book Cork Dork, "which is to say I had no idea what was going on but was content to smile and nod."

Curious about what exactly happened in this shrouded world, Bosker took off a year and a half from writing to train to become a sommelier, and talk her way into wine production facilities across the country. In the end, Bosker learned that most wine is nowhere near as “natural” as many people think—and that scientific advances have helped make cheap wine nearly as good as the expensive stuff.

"There's an incredible amount we don't understand about what makes wine—this thing that shakes some people to the core," Bosker says. In particular, most people don't realize how much chemistry goes into making a product that is supposedly just grapes and yeast, she says. Part of the reason is that, unlike food and medicines, alcoholic beverages in the U.S. aren't covered by the Food and Drug Administration. That means winemakers aren't required to disclose exactly what is in each bottle; all they have to reveal is the alcohol content and whether the wine has sulfites or certain food coloring additives.

In Cork Dork, published by Penguin Books, Bosker immerses herself in the world of wine and interviews winemakers and scientists to distill for the average drinking person what goes into your bottle of pinot. "One of the things that I did was to go into this wine conglomerate [Treasury Wine Estates] that produces millions of bottles of wine per year," Bosker says. "People are there developing wine the way flavor scientists develop the new Oreo or Doritos flavor."

For Treasury Wine Estates, the process of developing a mass-market wine starts in a kind of “sensory insights lab," Bosker found. There, focus groups of professional tasters blind-sample a variety of Treasury’s wine products. The best ones are then sampled by average consumers to help winemakers get a sense of which “sensory profiles” would do best in stores and restaurants, whether it be “purplish wines with blackberry aromas, or low-alcohol wines in a pink shade," she writes.

From these baseline preferences, the winemakers take on the role of the scientist, adding a dash of acidity or a hint of red to bring their wines in line with what consumers want. Winemakers can draw on a list of more than 60 government-approved additives that can be used to tweak everything from color to acidity to even thickness.

Then the wines can be mass-produced in huge steel vats, which hold hundreds of gallons and are often infused with oak chips to impart the flavor of real oaken barrels. Every step of this fermentation process is closely monitored, and can be altered by changing temperature or adding more nutrients for the yeast. Eventually, the wine is packaged on huge assembly lines, churning out thousands of bottles an hour that will make their way to your grocery store aisle and can sometimes sell for essentially the same price as bottled water.

"This idea of massaging grapes with the help of science is not new," Bosker points out. The Romans, for example, added lead to their wine to make it thicker. In the Middle Ages, winemakers began adding sulfur to make wines stay fresh for longer.

However, starting in the 1970s, enologists (wine scientists) at the University of California at Davis took the science of winemaking to new heights, Bosker says. These entrepreneurial wine wizards pioneered new forms of fermentation to help prevent wine from spoiling and produce it more efficiently. Along with the wide range of additives, winemakers today can custom order yeast that will produce wine with certain flavors or characteristics. Someday soon, scientists might even build yeast from scratch.

Consumers most commonly associate these kinds of additives with cheap, mass-produced wines like Charles Shaw (aka "Two Buck Chuck") or Barefoot. But even the most expensive red wines often have their color boosted with the use of "mega-red" or "mega-purple" juice from other grape varieties, says Davis enologist Andrew Waterhouse. Other common manipulations include adding acidity with tartaric acid to compensate for the less acidic grapes grown in warmer climates, or adding sugar to compensate for the more acidic grapes grown in cooler climates.

Tannins, a substance found in grape skins, can be added to make a wine taste "drier" (less sweet) and polysaccharides can even be used to give the wine a "thicker mouthfeel," meaning the taste will linger more on the tongue.

When asked if there was any truth to the oft-repeated legend that cheap wine is bound to give more headaches and worse hangovers, Waterhouse was skeptical. "There's no particular reason that I can think of that expensive wine is better than cheap wine," Waterhouse says. He adds, however, that there isn't good data on the topic. "As you might suspect, the [National Institutes of Health] can't make wine headaches a high priority," he says.

Instead, Waterhouse suggests, there may be a simpler explanation: "It's just possible that people tend to drink more wine when it's cheap.”

While this widespread use of additives may make some natural-foods consumers cringe, Bosker found no safety or health issues to worry about in her research. Instead, she credits advancements in wine science with improving the experience of wine for most people by "democratizing quality." "The technological revolution that has taken place in the winery has actually elevated the quality of really low-end wines," Bosker says.

The main issue she has with the modern wine industry is that winemakers aren’t usually transparent with all of their ingredients—because they don’t have to be. "Combine the low yield and the high cost of the land, and there's a real structural difference in the pricing of those wines," Waterhouse says. Yet as winemakers continue to advance the science of making, cultivating and bottling this endlessly desirable product, that may soon change. Did you watch some Shiki Stage Musicals ? I also love how their productions look through th PV and the documentaries but it seems to me that people not talk so much about the Company contrary to Toho Stage. Is that because they have another politics concerning their musicals ? Also what you can tell about the Shiki Actresses ? What are the differences with the Toho Actresses ?

Your timing is actually IMPECCABLE here, because I was only just looking at Shiki’s channel as you sent that on and thinking about how I’ve somewhat neglected it. In Toho’s defense: It’s only really as well known as it is because me and a few others worked our tails off to get it SOME recognition, and we’re still actively working on trying to keep things that way. An awareness of what Toho is has been slowly spreading through the last few years, since we’ve been making gifsets and posting material, but it’s still very much in the shadow of Zuka, in many ways. There just...is not that much attention paid to non-Zuka Japanese Musicals, sadly, and even Zuka tends to fall into the “niche interest” category, and for the past few years, my attention’s been kind of spread thin trying to go from new Toho musical to new Toho musical while also checking on whatever’s happening in Korea at the moment.

As a warning, I do not know NEARLY as much about Shiki as I do about Toho and Zuka; it can be on the elusive side as far as tracking down material, especially as a non-Japanese speaker, so I’m very willing to be wrong here.

So, what I would say, off the bat, is that there isn’t really the same rivalry between Shiki and Toho that there is between, say, Zuka and Toho. Or at least. None that I’ve personally witnessed. I think that people are generally willing to attend both, though Toho does have the prestige of having The Imperial Seal™ (at Imperial Prices™ to match.) On a personal level, the reason for why I *personally* don’t work with it as much is nothing really personal against Shiki, but more that, specifically because a ton of their musicals are taken from Broadway, that means that the rights to distribution are...well. Complicated. Which means that you don’t really GET proshots of Shiki musicals as such. Not saying it will never happen. But I’m saying that, as of the present, Shiki doesn’t really do it. Which means that I have considerably less material to properly work with, as opposed to Toho where, okay, proshots are limited, but they do happen, and so I can watch the entire musical and draw material from there. With Shiki, I only ever have a few minutes to work off of. Shiki is, in that sense, still very much kind of confined to Japan, since the only way to REALLY support them is to go to Japan and attend a musical yourself, which...well. I can’t really do. That and, at the risk of being perfectly blunt, I’m a sucker for really, really expensive costumes, and Toho happens to know how to appeal to that.

Looking online at fanboards, whenever someone asks the question “Toho or Shiki?” the general consensus really seems to be “It’s impossible to really compare them because they’re essentially different styles of musical entirely.” Shiki is....I don’t know how to say this in a way that doesn’t devalue one or the other, but it tends to be a little more light-hearted, it has a little more of that family-friendly “People can bring their families for a night out at the musicals” charm, while Toho....well. Okay, if I theoretically had spawn, I would be willing to take them to, say, Roman Holiday or Fiddler on the Roof at Toho, but....1789? MARIE ANTOINETTE (with its lovely depictions of mob violence, swearing, and references to incest and sexual abuse)? NO. NO. SAVE YOURSELF, SMALL CHILD. And, of course, the light, happy Black Butler musicals. Toho.....not ALL the time, of course, but it tends, in my opinion, to have a darker edge. The musicals are glorious, the production values are high, and the costuming is fantastic, but still. A darker edge. Even among their more family friendly musicals, like Fiddler, they’re still....mature, you know? You get the feeling with Toho that the people watching it are all very much adults. Takarazuka....I’d have LESS trouble bringing my hypothetical spawn to, but also, traditionally, Takarazuka is generally, in a Japanese context, associated with middle-aged women. Also keeping in mind that children have low attention spans and I’m not sure they would REALLY want to watch a 20 minute revue at the end, though the revue is undoubtedly cool.

But Shiki? It’s bright, it’s colorful, it does musicals like The Little Mermaid, Frozen, The Lion King, and Mamma Mia (which is DEFINITELY not for kids, really, but still has that kind of....happy, sparky vibe to it). Also musicals that have come to really represent BROADWAY tend to get staged there, like Phantom of the Opera, Evita, and Cats. Yeah, it doesn’t quite have the budget of Toho or Zuka, but it’s FUN. Everyone there IS trained, and it can actually be a decent way of checking who might be up and coming in the Japanese musical world, since, of course, just because someone STARTS OFF with Shiki doesn’t mean they can’t move to Toho (I believe that Mitsuo Yoshihara, for one example, started with Shiki, as did Rie Yoshizawa, who is better known by me for playing Mary I in “Lady Bess” but also played in Mamma Mia and A Chorus Line at Shik, and Megumi Hamada, who is arguably one of the most respected female Japanese musical performers of our time, with her roles in Wicked (Shiki), Mamma Mia (Shiki), Beauty and the Beast (Shiki), Death Note (Toho), Sunset Boulevard (Toho), Love Never Dies (Toho), and Jekyll and Hyde (Toho) giving her a reputation of a truly world-class diva, in the best possible sense of the term.)

As with Toho, you have to go through an audition to get in -- Personally, I think that Shiki has more fresh blood passing through it than Toho, which can sometimes cycle the same cast around repeatedly, with the exception of musicals like Les Miserables and Miss Saigon that tend to be star creators. (ALWAYS take note of who’s playing Enjolras in Les Mis in particular; a lot of Toho stars have made their careers that way, ditto for Eponine and Kim in Miss Saigon. Not that I recommend anyone watch Miss Saigon. Because it’s a racist, orientalist mess. But at least check the cast list for it.) So, as with Toho, you do generally have people who went to school for acting and singing, though you don’t REALLY get, say, former Takarazuka actresses. I don’t think that Shiki is generally (underline generally, because no sooner do I give out a rule than I find that someone broke the rule) considered to be prestigious enough for the REALLY high profile stars. It’s a good place, again, it isn’t like there’s a STIGMA against it, but it’s just a matter of degree. So, my dream of seeing Sayaka Kanda playing Princess Anna of Arendelle on stage is tragically doomed.

Compared to Toho, I have relatively few actresses I’m really ATTACHED to, mainly because I think that Shiki doesn’t really emphasize the performer as much as the musical, if that makes any sense? Shiki, unlike Toho, subscribes to what is called the “auteur theory” which, put to its core, states that it is a strict meritocracy, with no famous celebrities being cast, and that actors exist to make a musical shine, not the other way around. (Takarazuka is the polar opposite, emphasizing the Top Star system, while Toho is halfway in-between the two of them, as discussed here.) Which is good, to some extent, since I firmly believe that a musical should never be about one person and, quite frankly, I have seen my fair share of cases where a single actor’s vanity tanked my impression of a musical, but it also makes it a little harder to get attached to individual actresses/actors when I don’t really get to see that much of them. Two that I’ve noted:

- Azusa Hirata - A particularly interesting case because, unlike the usual cases I see where you have a Shiki actress “graduating” to Toho in a sense, she actually went from doing quite a few Toho musicals in her youth to doing Shiki. She actually won the 1st International Szilvester Levay International Singing Competition, where she performed “Blind vom Licht” from Marie Antoinette (of course I have to like her). Her rendition isn’t my FAVORITE in terms of the context of the musical, a little too polished for my personal tastes, but still brilliant, and she definitely earned her spot.

- Masae Ebata - The youngest Donna Sheridan in the world, at the age of just 30, and renowned for playing both Donna and Sophie in the same performance period. Also the VERY first Korean performer to play the role of Elphaba in Wicked, before the official Korean premiere in 2012. It’s been noted that, along with her voice being very good, she pronounces her Japanese VERY well, which is something that many Korean performers coming to Japan have trouble with (another performer who’s been noted for it is Park Hye-Na in Death Note.)

- Marie Wakana - Her performance of “Part of Your World” in the PV is SO good.

(I actually suspect that this might be partially why Shiki doesn’t have as much of an international following, because foreign fans will generally get really attached to a singular STAR, whereas the Shiki musicals don’t have that same bait. They don’t really have a Furukawa Yuta of their own, someone who, just by name alone, they’re like ‘Ah, yes, they’ll be playing in this musical, so it’s going to be a good show.’ And, for most international fans, I feel like, without the allure of a castmember they’re attached to, they might look at Shiki musicals and essentially go “What are they doing that I can’t get closer to home?” That’s my SUSPICION, at any rate.)

Word Count: 434 Summary: Roman Price is tired of his friends constantly setting him up on terrible dates, and so reaches out to his ex-boyfriend to fake-date him to shut them up. Deceit Adams, who hasn't seen Roman in years since their breakup, is surprised to know that Roman wants his help. He's determined not to mess things up this time. When Deceit received the text, he wasn’t sure what he was supposed to think. He hadn’t spoken to Roman in years, the two of them having had a falling out that resulted in them cutting off contact. Of all people to get a message from – Roman Price was not on the list. If getting a message from Roman wasn’t surprising enough, the contents off the message were even stranger.

‘Hey, I need your help with something. Call me ASAP x -R’

The lack of details pulled Deceit in (Or maybe it was the fact that deep down he missed Roman, although he’d never admit to that), and he decided to go for it. He opened the contact and clicked call. Roman didn’t pick up instantly and Deceit was about to hang up when he heard a voice on the other end. His heart skipped a beat at the familiar, dramatic voice.

“Hey, Dee! Listen, I’ve got a bit of an odd request,” Roman said.

“What’s up?”

Deceit started walking around his room, almost anxious at the idea of possibly seeing Roman again. It’d been so long.

“So, it’s my friends. They’ve been really getting at me recently about finding someone. They’ve set me up on a bunch of blind dates and GOD have they been terrible- I mean, it’s not really the guys’ faults, they’re probably just worried, but they’re just really not my type-“

“Roman, there’s no way you called me just to complain about your blind dates,” Deceit sighed, raising his eyebrow even though Roman couldn’t see his expression.

“Right, sorry. Look, you know me better than most people I talk to now. I need you to pretend to be my boyfriend so that they stop asking me so much. I know it’s a lot, especially considering how things ended, and I completely understand if you don’t want to but-“

Deceit cut Roman off again. “I’ll do it. Just text me a time and a place, I’ll come meet you and we’ll talk about it more.”

Deceit could hear the smile on Roman’s face. “Thank you, really. This means a lot.”

“Yeah, don’t worry about it.”

The phone fell silent for a second before Roman spoke again. “Hey, I’m gonna go now, the others are getting here soon. I’ll text you later!”

Deceit wasn’t given much time to respond before Roman hung up. He stood still for a while before a smile broke out on his face. He couldn’t believe it. After everything that had happened, Roman still wanted his help with something.

He wasn’t going to mess things up this time.

The ultimate reference for this book is Daly’ Andres Alciatus Index Emblematicsus 1985; ; Landwehr, J. Romanic emblem books; 89 ; Adams, A. The emblem book, which attained enormous popularity in continental Europe and Great Britain, while it is possible to trace it back before was certantly made most popular by Alciati. . Alciato’s emblems were first published in Augsburg in Germany (two editions in 1531 and one in 1534); from 1534 onwards publishing shifted to France and remained there for the next thirty years. Wechel, who printed the Paris editions (from 1534), are like those in Augsburg. He can be said to have set the standard for clear presentation of emblems, with each emblem beginning on a fresh page, featuring the motto or title, the pictura below that, and then the subscription/epigram or verse text the main focus of publication for emblems shifted more firmly to Lyons from the mid 1540s, The 1550 Latin edition by Rouille is the first to have 211 emblems (the whole corpus, apart from the so-called obscene emblem ‘Adversus naturam peccantes’) illustrated. ¶Harpocrates was adapted by the Greeks from the Egyptian child God Horus, who represented the newborn sun, rising each day at dawn. Harpocrates’s name was a Hellenization of the Egyptian Har-pa-khered or Heru-pa-khered, meaning “Horus the Child”. In the second century B.C., Egyptians connected Harpocrates with the mystic cult of the Egyptian goddess Isis. Harpocrates holds a finger to its lip for the Egyptians a symbolic gesture representing childhood.

¶Yet the Greeks mistook for a hush for silence., misinterpreting Harpocrates as the personification of silence, and this particular work is a study of statues and other art from classical antiquity that depict these later figures of silence. And again, the Roman interpretation added strength to the Mystery of silence.

With a special engraved t.p. with allegorical depiction of Christ carrying the cross, surrounded by ten artists at easels painting scenes from his life (as well as a few questionable profane subjects). The vovelle : The centers of the engraving and the volvelle (through which a string passes) are reinforced with small paper roundels printed with the monograms of Christ. The numbers are keyed to an “Indiculus orbitae” that follows (Bb1r-Bb2r). There a number, having been selected, is provided with a phrase from various Latin authors (listed on Bb2v), and a reference to one of the hundred sections that comprise the main text. It is suggested in Bibliotheca Belgica that this game may have been intended as a pious alternative to such superstitious books as Thuys der fortvnen.

Veridicus Christianus emphasizes the Society of Jesus’ investment in thinking in, though, and about visual images that exemplify the supreme mystery of God. Published as a tool of devotion and meditations, it features one hundred chapters that encompass a wide

range of topics for reflection. Each chapter incorporates an extensive commentary that interprets the emblematic image David too follows the order in which we apprehend things with our senses, beginning with a visual representation at the head of each chapter. Then comes the explication. The symboli explicatio was considered necessary because cultivated readers would be more susceptible to a reasoned argument than a

picture. The text is divided into 100 chapters, each with an allegorical engraving incorporating letters keyed to the explanatory text and with marginal references. Each of the 100 numbered plates has a single line of Latin at the head giving the subject, with two-line explanatory verses below the allegorical engraving in Latin (roman letter), Dutch (civilité) and French (italic) First plate (following [2 daggers]4) is added title leaf for the ill., which were also published separately; see Bibliotheca Belgica. The added title reads: Icones ad Veridicvm Christianvm P. Ioannis David e Societate Iesv At the end is Device with compasses and the motto “constantia et labore” on Ee4r . The Jesuit Sebastián Izquierdo in his Práctica de los ejercicios espirituales, written in (Spanish in )1665 translated in to Italian the same year then in 1678 translated as here into Latin and later published in several translations and versions offers an illustrated guide to the Ignatian spiritual exercises. The illustrations, 12 of them, are the subject of image meditation which was a favorite method of the Jesuits who, beginning with the monumental Evangelicae Historiae Imagines (1593) of Jerónimo Nadal, actively took hold of religious iconography and adjusted and concentrated it for the teaching of the Societies ( and Ignatius’ ) vision. The images are not just simple depiction’s instead they are mnemonic devices. These images are points of departures and give the current 21st century reader a precious examples of images that inspire meditation, direct the reception of the teachings and anchor them in the memory. Particularly memorable is the Image of Hell on page 72, The lay-out shows the pedagogical intentions and possibilities of this little book: there are 12 parts consisting of 12 separate quires, numbered from ‘A’ to ‘M’ and paginated each from 1-12, each with its own full-page illustration , these could have been meant to be distributed separately – according to match the educational needs or level of the students. The Images are in high contrast, with plenty of Bloody and memorable images. The Puteus Abyssi depicts a poor man who is naked and sitting in a chair in some sort of oubliette. He has sevenswords, each with animal head handles, in him and each is strategically stuck in various parts of the body. The swords are labeled for the passions. Most interesting of these might be the sword marked ‘Vengeance’ it is hanging offer the mans head, the Idleness sword is stuck between his legs, Gluttony in his stomach, Lust … Envy in his back, Avarice between his Shoulders and Pride in his heart.Izquierdo was also the author of Pharus scientiarum, a treatise on a methodology to access knowledge,

conceived as a single science. In this work, he assimilated Aristotelian and Baconian logic, and he expressed some original ideas on mathematics and logic that have earned their author a reputation as an outstanding mathematician. Not just like his Spanish contemporaries John Caramuel or Tomás Vicente Tosca , but also significant foreign mathematicians as Athanasius Kircher , Gaspar Knittel or Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz , the latter, in particular, cited with, his Disputatio of Combinatione, in Combinatorial Art (1666).

There is an engraved emblematic title page signed “I.M. Lerch sc. Viennae;” The other 32 illustrations (numbered 1-32) are full-page emblems engraved by Boetius a Bolswert–See Landwehr. ¶The Illustrations are printed on the verso of leaf, recto is blank; accompanied by explanatory text on facing leaf. The text and illustrations are printed within ruled border. This popular emblematical work is arranged as a series of meditations, by the Jesuit Antoine Sucquet. Many religious emblem books were published during the 17th and 18th centuries, and of these, Sucquet’s work was one of the most popular. Because of its engravings by Boëtius a Bolswert , it was especially important for the development of the 17th-century Christian iconography. The counter-reformation produced a great number of emblematic meditation-books where text and illustrations are interwoven. Emblem books were therefore much favoured by the Jesuits for the purposes of teaching, as religious propaganda, and to provide subjects for meditation. The 17th-century Jesuit curriculum prescribed that emblems were composed in the schools. Members of the highest classes in the Flemish Jesuit colleges each composed an emblem, and the production of the entire class was collected in commemorative albums painted by professional artists and calligraphers. The meditation on the soul’s relation to Christ was precisely guided by provision of references in the engravings. The first religious catholic emblem book was published in 1571 and composed by Arias Montanus. In 1601 Jan David composed the first Jesuit emblem book, the “Veridicus Christianus”. Sucquet’s work is composed around the widely spread concept of the “homo viator in bivio”, the creature who during his life again and again arrives at the cross and has to make the good choice for the narrow and difficult path to his eternal destination. Sucquet made clear that vision is the most important sense of a human being. It had foundational importance for the Christian iconography of the seventeenth century. The Hounds, Chapter One: Regrets

A/N: Well, I did some cleaning and found a box full of notebooks that used to write some of other fanfics. So, I think I might start posting them on here. Don’t worry, I’ll tag them all so if your not a fan of certain fandoms then you don’t have to read them! If you like them, make sure to punch that Like/Reblog Button and please give me your feedback in comments! Constructive Criticism is welcome because it will help me become a better writer.

Summary: Seth Rollins deeply regrets breaking up the Shield and joining the Authority. He wants to write this wrong, by doing anything to rebuild the bridge he destroyed and reunite with his "family," The Shield. By making a deal with the Devil.

Chapter: One: Regrets

Seth Rollins was a man of action. He firmly believed and lived by the belief that actions spoke louder than words. He never really talked that much, unlike his persona on camera. He let his actions speak for him, both in and out of the ring. He worked his ass off to get to where he is today, the World Heavyweight Champion. Seth was also a man with very little things that he ever regretted doing in life. He always planned five or more steps ahead, weighing his options, figuring out what the consequences might be, before he acted or reacted.

But sometimes, Seth had made mistakes, had made the wrong decisions, and at times, he even listened to some people that he never would have in the first place. And when that happened, Seth deeply regretted it. Sometimes, he was able to patch things up with the others, but there were few times. Where that bridge was burned to the ground beyond repair. When that happens, Seth at times would beat himself up. Taking things out on others without meaning too.

The pressure of what he did, kept building, and building, and building, to the breaking point and then the damn broke. The cap of the bottle that he kept all his feelings and emotions, that he never wanted anyone to see, finally popped off. The glass broke, the armor had finally cracked and everyone could see the chink in the armor now.

Seth couldn’t even look at himself in the mirror anymore because the man, who stared back at him. He didn't even recognize him anymore. Let alone knew who it was that was staring back at him. How much had he change and not for the better? How low did he sink? Was it worth it? Was it worth it Seth? Was it worth it burning that bridge that you three had worked so hard on to make and did everything together? Was it worth it to break up your family?

Family. That's what they were, a family. A dysfunctional family, but a family nonetheless. All of them taking the wrestling world by storm with little to no regrets. Meeting up with one another, in the Indy Circuit. Taking Championships and making names for themselves and they even had so many fans following them before they even knew who they were on a National and International level! Tag team Champions, Heavyweight Championship, World Championship, World Heavyweight Championship, Pure Wrestling Championship, Cruiserweight Championship, Junior Weight Championship, and Television Championship, from ROH, UPW, CZW, different states main wrestling promotions and even New Japan. That’s what the Shield was all about. Checking off names on their list, taking Championships as they went and leaving everyone behind in their dust.

They were the Hounds. That was what the fans had called them when they first tagged together, and that was what they called themselves afterwards. They were The Hounds of Wrestling. Hunting down the gold and claiming it for themselves and leaving no room for anyone to take the gold off of them. When they came to WWE, it was like a fresh of breath air. New victims (competitors), new championships for them to claim and have around their waist, like a brand new trophy. But most importantly of all, a new battle ground for them to make a name for themselves and have everyone on a National level know their name, inside and out.

The Shield. That was the name Hunter and Stephanie came up with for them and it sounded great! The Shield, the name fit, for who they were. Protecting their own, protecting those who had earned their trust, maybe they could even start a side business in the wrestling business. After all, wrestlers do have enemies and who better to protect a champion and learn all about them then a fellow wrestler? Seth, Roman, and Dean had their sights set on so many wrestlers to help make them famous and to make a name for themselves (sorry Taker. It was just business). Never climb the ladder when you can bulldoze your way to the top of the line for championship gold. Tag Team, United States, Intercontinental and even the World Heavyweight Championship was in their grasp.

But then Seth Rollins did the most stupidest thing he ever did in his life (and career), and that was saying something! He listened to the Authority! The Authority! He listened to them, on what they were saying and at the time it sounded so good! Championship gold. Their name in lights. Main event status! It sounded too good to be true but Seth was too eager to say yes! He wanted it all! All of their hard work had finally paid off! The Shield was finally going to get the glory they so rightfully deserved!

Yeah right. The only thing the Authority had in mind was Seth. Seth being their little "golden boy." Seth being the "new face of the WWE, the new face for the Authority." And Seth was too blind to see the lies, to see the consequences that had cost him everything. Yeah, Seth was the World Heavyweight Champion, and everybody knew his name now. But at what price?

He couldn’t even look at the Authority with the same gleam in his eyes. It wasn’t even there anymore. It was dull, emotionless, painful, but he could put on a good show. That's all it was, a show. He couldn’t even look at Roman and Dean without seeing the hurt, pain, betrayal and hatred in their eyes at him He couldn’t even look at them without the pain, longing, hurt, and hatred towards himself for what he did. He betrayed them. He stabbed them in the back. He broke the Shield. No, that wasn’t quite right. What Seth did, he broke up their pack. They were the Hounds and he betrayed them.

(Raw)

On Raw July 13, 2015, before Battleground. Seth Rollins did what he did to Kane, all because of the pent up anger, self-hatred, self-loathing, and all the regrets, and frustration It had built up too much and Seth just finally snapped! He took it all out on Kane.

The anger at the Authority, the self-hatred for what he did to his family and of what he had become. The monster he turned in to. The regrets of ever betraying his brothers and joining the Authority in the first place! The frustration of not recognizing the man staring back at him every time Seth looked at himself in the mirror. It all came out. It all exploded inside of him and all he saw was himself. Weak, ignorant, stupid, gullible, eager, Corporate's little puppet! That was what Seth Rollins saw and that was what Seth Rollins was destroying that night. He was destroying the image of himself.

(Smackdown)

On Smackdown, Seth Rollins was pacing in his locker room. He couldn’t believe what he just did on Raw! Oh, my god. How could he have done that to Kane? Kane?! What kind of a person did Seth turn in too? A self-loathing, regretful, hateful, the Authority and Corporate’s new face of wrestling, yes man. That’s what he had become. He became Corporate’s new toy. Their new trophy to show off on display, claiming that they are the top dogs and are the number one people in the WWE.

Yeah, right. If they were the number one people in this company then Seth Rollins (Tyler Black) would lose to AJ Styles, Jay Lethal, and Jay Briscoe in a fatal four way match at Honor Before Dishonor. Oh, wait. That already happened. Wow, how low did Seth sink? He attack Kane? Kane, the Director of Operations? Kane, the Big Red Machine? Kane, the Devil’s Favorite Demon? The one that no matter what kept coming back after he and his brother, The Undertaker, destroyed each other?

Oh. My. God. Seth, what did you do? You sold your soul to the Corporate Devil and now you're taking that decision of making the deal, out on others: That's what you did! You betrayed your brothers! You destroyed your family! Stabbed them in the back, just so you could be World Heavyweight Champion again. And now you took out on the only one that might have been able to help you. To save you from yourself and from what the Authority has done to you! That’s what you did!

Seth stopped pacing his locker room and looked into the mirror. He hated what he saw. His inner argument had stopped. That little voice in his head was right. He, Seth Rollins, had sold out. He sold out his family, his brothers, his pack. And for what? For the World Heavyweight Championship that he might not even come out on top of?

Seth made a decision right then and there. When he returned to his hotel room, he would call Kane and apologize. And when Kane was cleared to come back to full fill his Director of Operations position. Seth would talk to Kane and see if he could get some advice. Who better to know what Seth might be going through or had lived through then Kane? He had to have done some things that he might not have been proud of. Maybe Kane had done some things that he even regretted doing, especially with all those feuds he had with his brother the Undertaker.

With that in mind Seth left his locker room to go face his opponent. He just hoped that Kane would at least let him explain for what he did on Raw. Seth regretted it, once he realized what it was that he did to Kane. Kane didn’t deserve that and Kane certainly didn’t deserve to be Seth’s punching bag.
