I find it so weird that people try to deny that queerphobia as it exists in the west is rooted in Christianity. Like, people are literally more focused on not offended the pope than they are protecting queer life.
Remember that there was no queerphobia in the western world before the Christianization of Rome. Caesar being made fun of for being a bottom isn't the same as the queerphobia we see spanning from the late Roman empire to the present day. The first person on earth to outlaw gay male relationships was the byzantine emperor Justinian. The first writing to circulate in the west to talk against homosexuality was the Bible. The systemic cultural and legal marginalization of queer identities is directly tied to Christianity and still is, from Rome, to northern Europe, to Africa (it should be mentioned that the most queerphobic nation on the planet right now had a openly bi king before colonialism) and the Americas, we see that the introduction of queerphobia and the introduction of Christianity are one and the same.
Also when you try to deny that queerphobia comes from Christianity you basically have to claim that people are just naturally queerphobic, which is not only something not back up by history but implies the oppression queer people face is inevitable.

(Headcanon: rangi has exes)
Kyoshi: how are you so good at this?
Rangi: Kyoshi, I'm a 5'9 sei'naka woman who went to an ALL GIRLS academy for SIX YEARS. I've had experience, you're not my first one
Kyoshi: im not??
Rangi: you didn't know?
Kyoshi: no, so you have.. an ex?
Rangi: two, to be exact. along with many other passing crushes, but They were only shallow, temporary love, most barely lasted a month. I was young and simply exploring my interests.
Rangi: but it was hard to put my attention onto romance with priorities and honor on the line, that and also my mother's reputation dawning on me, i always tried to keep my personal life hidden but, well, people found out, it spread to the whole school, it was- a terrible time.
Kyoshi: ...i had no idea
Rangi: its not a story i like to tell people, My past romantic experiences.. it never ends well. but you, kyoshi, your case is different, its like i've finally fallen in love for the first time.
-----------------------------------------
i love them. anyways yea ive always thought about the fact that rangi really enrolled in a fire nation all-girls school. we all know hei-ran is okay with LGBTQ but we can't say the same for every other fire nation person, especially the competitive honor-bound students.
Rangi's a lesbian, she'd probably have crushes throughout the years she enrolled in the academy, at one point she'd probably even gotten as far as to date some, but the overall homophobic environment really makes it hard for her to dedicate herself, that, and she partially also doesn't want to sacrifice her training/grades for someone she likes. in any and all cases, she will prioritize herself first before her past lover.
However, with kyoshi. its not like that. No its not just because she's bound as the avatar's bodyguard. Rangi fell first, at first she expected it to just be another passing, shallow crush like how she used to, but no. They spent a lot of time together, covering eachother's backs, supporting eachother, it was mutual.
this was when rangi realized that Love remains an unfamiliar territory to the firebender. How Rangi would without a doubt sacrifice herself for kyoshi, go out of her way just to make sure kyoshi takes care of herself, she would run miles just to see her, to check up on her. all the sudden, kyoshi became a big part of her life.
And when they became lovers, Rangi couldn't be happier, she finally understood love stories and fairy tales like the tale of two dragons. back then she would think it is stupid to care for someone else before yourself, or go to such treacherous bounds in the name of love, but now she understands.
This is, Rangi's side of the story.

Prithviraj in Mumbai Police is my Roman Empire!!!
How was this man able to act in any role and convenience us? And how did I miss watching this movie for so long?!!
Also, I have to appreciate him for selecting the script to act in such a role back when there was little to no acceptance. He surely deserves everything after what he went through in his career. 💕❤️❤️❤️
PS: Now I get how he would have nailed if Deva and Varadha made as a pair in Salaar 😉😉

While there isn't a single definitive "first record" of a transgender person, various historical accounts and cultural practices provide insight into the existence of transgender individuals throughout history.
One notable example is Elagabalus, who reigned as Roman emperor from 218 to 222 AD. Elagabalus was known for defying traditional gender roles and norms, reportedly expressing a desire to be referred to and treated as a woman. Historical accounts describe Elagabalus dressing in women's clothing, wearing makeup, and even marrying men.
Beyond Elagabalus, various cultures throughout history have recognized and accepted individuals who do not conform to traditional gender roles or binary notions of gender. For example, many Indigenous cultures around the world have long recognized the existence of Two-Spirit people, who embody both masculine and feminine qualities and often hold special spiritual or societal roles within their communities.
One notable figure from around the Nazi era who is sometimes discussed in the context of transgender history is Lili Elbe. Lili Elbe was a Danish transgender woman who was one of the earliest recipients of sex reassignment surgery. Born as Einar Magnus Andreas Wegener, she underwent a series of gender-affirming surgeries in the early 1930s under the care of pioneering sexologist Dr. Magnus Hirschfeld in Berlin, Germany.
Another notable figure who has been identified as a transgender man from around the Nazi era is Karl M. Baer. Born in Germany in 1885, Baer is believed to have undergone a hysterectomy and legally changed his name to Karl in the 1920s. Baer was a writer and editor who contributed to various publications.
Some reputable sources for transgender history include:"Transgender History" by Susan Stryker"Transgender Warriors: Making History from Joan of Arc to Dennis Rodman" by Leslie FeinbergJSTOR and Google Scholar for academic articles on transgender historyWebsites of LGBTQ+ history organizations and archives, such as the GLBT Historical Society and the Transgender Archives at the University of Victoria.
These resources can provide a more comprehensive understanding of the historical record of transgender individuals and the complexities of gender identity throughout history.
Being transgender is nothing new. Trans people have always existed and will continue to do so. Die mad about it.

Not that I care about roman empire discourse, but there's something to be said that "yeah, the empress who's reported as constantly correcting people into calling her a woman, apparently gave women high level jobs, and even hired former slaves" is adhering to political propaganda meant to make her look bad, but all the really bad things (that I honestly wouldn't be surprised if she did do because it's the roman empire, one of them set fire to the whole fucking city) we should take as just fact

something something cancelling trans women for things other people easily get away with, nothing ever changes
"She put lions in people's beds" THEY WERE TAMED!!
