So I finished LN 1 and immediately started LN 2 (and am currently at chapter 3) and I thought before I go on I should take a minute and collect my thoughts
Random yelling under the cut:
the first loop is kinda like a tutorial quest for Subaru. He learns nothing from it.
or to say it more precisely he learns the wrong lessons: Subaru kinda bumbles himself into a win during the first loop. None of what helped him win was planned. And to say it more precisely, what helped him win were random acts of kindness: Reinhard deciding to help while not on duty, Emilia saving that child and showing her nature through that, Subaru empathizing with Felt and Rom and winning there trust that way, Subaru letting Felt go because she is fifteen and he is seventeen (and that scene gave me feelings - he is such a good boy!!!) Felt deciding to not run away but instead to run screaming and crying to the main road and than Reinhard once again deciding to help. Kindness is important. Kindness can change the world. Being kind and helping others is the way forward. ( and in a way you could argue that Emilia was saved in the end because she decided to be kind to a random stranger with a particular ability - I'm actually really curious what happened in the run where Subaru died immediately - did Emilia survive, did she get her crest back, how much did Subaru change)
So Subaru could have learned a lot here: sometimes it's better to be the coward who lives instead of being the heroic fool in everyone's way; it's important to be kind, and also important to let others be kind to you; he's in an incredible weak position so it's important to learn as much as he can as fast as he can, Emilia is kinda badass... There could have been a lot
Sadly Subaru is trapped in a heroic fantasy and decided to rework the whole situation in a way where only the last moment counts were he took the hit for her and learned: I need to be a hero and do awesome stuff to be loved AND there is a right way to do things (there isn't)
its pretty telling that in the moment were Emilia smiles and tells him her name he says "it's not worth it at all" because what Subaru actually wants is Emilia to be indebted to him for the rest of her life, she's supposed to be the reward for all his suffering (no wonder he becomes resentful once she tries to distance herself) and so Emilia becomes Emilia-tan and Subaru will start to ignore every hint that she is waaaaay out of his league and that she doesn't need a protector
The last chapter from Reinhards perspective was really funny. Watching the series I never realized how low Reinhards self esteem is. I always thought he was just humble
The relationship between Felt and Rom was really sweet. I really hope they see each other again
Found family is a big theme in re:zero
I never realized how cold/emotionless Puck is
Spoiler for LN 2:They really sanded down Subarus edges for the anime. The scene were he pets Emilia's hair as a reward is suuuper uncomfortable (i still think he is a good boy at heart though)

My Review of My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU
Tumblr media
How did I get into this anime? I’ve heard about this anime and would see it in passing. I’m not one to turn down any romcom animes. Let’s hit it!
Tumblr media
Hachiman Hikigaya has a sour outlook on his high school life. He’s mostly ignored by his peers, it’s been a couple of years since he last spoke to a female, and a love confession kinda warped him for the worst. Hikigaya’s attitude caught the attention of his teacher and she forces Hikigaya to join a club known as the ‘Volunteer Service Club’. This club kinda reaches a helping hand to students in need and helping them reach certain goals. Usually, clubs like this would have like four or five others, here there’s only one other member.
Tumblr media
Yukino Yukinoshita.
God damn, this name can’t be real! Actually, at least half the characters have first and last names that are similar.
Tumblr media
Anyways, she is what you would call an ‘Ice Queen’. Those students that look like a queen but have a frosty personality. And as of episode 2, the club has added another new member, Yui Yuigahama. She got help from the Volunteer Service Club and started hanging out with Hikigaya and Yukino. Will Hikigaya’s outlook on his high school days change by being in this club with Yukino and Yui? Let’s find out!
BETWEEN THE SUB AND THE DUB: This one was dubbed and released by Sentai Filmworks. Streaming wise is a little complicated. Normally for all Sentai-dubbed animes, I’d say watch it all on Hi-dive, but for this one that’s complicated. Only the first and third seasons are available for streaming. And as of the date of posting this review, Crunchyroll still has the authority to stream the third season. Yeah, hi, where the hell is season two? Another thing to expect from Sentai is with their dubs. They’re either very good or it just feels like another day in the recording booth. I don’t know, I felt blah listening to this particular dub. I think it’s because there were several male characters that annoyed me dearly while listening. It’s pretty noticeable with who these characters are so I’ll leave it at that. Here’s what you might recognize these folks from.
JAPANESE CAST: *Hikigaya is played by Takuya Eguchi (known for Loid on Spy x Family, Takeo on Ore Monogatari, Kakeru on Fruits Basket 2019, Julius on Re:Zero, Ryouma on Love Stage, and Akihiko on Given)
*Yukino is played by Saori Hayami (known for Shouko on A Silent Voice, Yor on Spy x Family, Ononoki on Monogatari, Shinobu on Demon Slayer, Anju on 86, Yumeko on Kakegurui, and Himawari on Boruto)
*Yui is played by Nao Touyama (known for Ruka on Rent-A-Girlfriend, Koga on Bunny Girl Senpai, Rin on Laid Back Camp, Nii-chan on Blue Exorcist, Victim on Overlord, and Chitoge on Nisekoi)
ENGLISH CAST: *Hikigaya is played by Adam Gibbs (known for Shinichi on Parasyte, Seita on Grave of the Fireflies, Mitsuo on Golden Time, Oreki on Hyouka, Yuki on Tsuritama, Ryouma on Love Stage, and Hiroomi on Beyond the Boundary)
*Yukino is played by Melissa Molano (known for Linda on Golden Time, Shizu on To Love Ru, and Sayaka on Kakegurui [redub])
*Yui is played by Catherine Thomas (known for Itsuki on Kakegurui [redub] and Anne on Food Wars)
Tumblr media
DISLIKED CHARACTER: I’m going to be honest and hate on that clique of friends. You know the ones, Hayama, that blonde bitch, the ass with the annoying voice…Yeah sorry, I’m watching it in English and I REALLY hate Tobe’s voice. Oop, I let one of those annoying voice names drop. I just get annoyed with those three in particular and get annoyed every time they’re involved in the story. The only one from the clique that gets a pass with me is Saki. She’s cool.
SHIPPING: Okay, let’s see what I’ve come to expect with a title that tells me it’s a rom-com!
Tumblr media
During season one, it was clear that all three main characters kept to themselves in many ways. Yukino keeps a straight face even when she’s out with a boy while wearing girly clothes. No blushing, no stuttering, and nothing to give Hikigaya. Yui, you have to wonder as there might have been something after saving Hikigaya prior to episode 1. And when you add the fact that Yukino’s driver was partially to blame for striking Hikigaya with the car, things are adding up with this trio.
Tumblr media
In season two, there were a several love confessions. Problem is that they were majority from that clique group. Early on, Tobe had a crush on Ebina (the girl who is a total fujoshi). And during the class trip, Ebina was getting help from Hikigaya and the others from the club to prevent Tobe from confessing to her. This went really bad as Hikigaya stomped on that landmine. He came in before Tobe could confess and “fake” confess to Ebina. She rejects Hikigaya and in a way Tobe too. This event really caused a lot of damage between Hikigaya, Yui, and Yukino and for more than just Hikigaya doing dumbass shit.
Tumblr media
Next, we have Isshiki and Miura going after Hayama’s heart. To be honest, I always thought Miura and Hayama were already dating or doing something together. But Isshiki got her heart broken by Hayama on Christmas, Miura is ready to throw her future away in order to go where Hayama is going after high school, and Hayama is just a dickhead (and he knows it). Okay, can we get more stuff with our main 3 now?
Tumblr media
We do see all three characters have some sort of breakdown in front of one another. More opening up to each other and revealing their true selves. More blushing in front of everyone, more clumsiness, all that crap! It’s obvious that Yui loves Hikigaya, but also doesn’t want to infringe on this special friendship between him and Yukino. It’s just that no one ever uses the word “love”. They just dance around it and use colorful wording to mask their feelings. Well, one of the girls did use “love”. But I’ll save that for when I’m talking about the finale.
Now if you ask me if I’m on Team Yukino or Team Yui, I would say…
Tumblr media
I’m on Team Saika!
I know it’s not canon, but this is what I support.
Tumblr media
END OF SEASON ONE: Club activities are put to a grinding halt as the culture festival is coming up. Hikigaya (against his will) was put on the committee by his teacher. Yui is somewhat involved, but isn’t with Hiki all that much. And as for Yukino, she’s on the committee and sort of seen as the second coming of her sister. People put a lot of expectations on Yukino just because her older sister Haru was deeply involved when she was in high school. These people obviously don’t know Yukino that well. Yukino made sure to get the job done (even when exhausted) and the start of the festival went pretty well. Yukino and Yui help a band and can suddenly out of nowhere play an instrument and sing. After Haruhi Suzumiya, every anime character thinks they can do it. Besides that, we witness a mental breakdown from the event organizer, Minami.
Tumblr media
It was some time coming with her as she noticed Yukino was getting more attention with all the work she was doing for the culture festival and Minami started to feel useless in her role. Hikigaya found her and kinda chewed her out in front of her friends. This was Hikigaya’s way of nudging Minami’s friends have her back and build her up, while turning on Hikigaya. Hikigaya seriously doesn’t care if these people turn on him. These people have been wishy-washy with him in every episode up to this point. At least Hikigaya’s teacher knows what he did. Plus, Yui and Yukino are still there. Not for an encouraging word or anything, but they’re there.
The final episode involves a race. Hikigaya and the girls lost, but it seems they had a fun time.
Tumblr media
Oh yeah, there was an OVA between season one and two. Yes, it’s fanservice. If you like the girls here and seeing them in wedding dresses, this is right up your alley.
Tumblr media
SEASON TWO (ZOKU): We start the season with a reminder that Hikigaya is still hated by his peers. There’s no love for Hikigaya from his classmates after what he did at the culture festival to Minami. But we do see some unity from Yukino and Yui who were quick to dismiss some of their classmates (and occasional run-ins) when they insulted Hikigaya in the clubroom. However, Hikigaya’s bad decisions led to a falling out with Yukino and Yui during a school trip this season and even beyond that.
Tumblr media
Ah yes, you might notice a change in animation with this season. Season one’s animated studio was Brain’s Base, the studio behind Durarara, Baccano, and the first season of To Your Eternity. In 2015, we get the transition to .feel, the same company that brought you the first season of Dagashi Kashi, Remake Our Life, and Kiss x Sis. Don’t worry, the company has improved since the Kiss x Sis days. To my knowledge, they didn’t animate any of the females of this anime peeing on themselves.
Tumblr media
END OF ZOKU: Most of the second season revolved around Hikigaya being involved with the student council. Oh, he didn’t join. Earlier, a classmate named Isshiki came to the clubroom in need of help. Her classmates voted for her to be student council president, but Isshiki doesn’t want to be that. This led to a big thing between Hikigaya, Yui, and Yukino. Yui and Yukino were both ready to take this bullet and run for president (and as a result would potentially put an end to the volunteer club). Isshiki wound up accepting the role. It’s just that she still ends up leaning on Hikigaya for help (in more ways than one). Hikigaya winds up in the middle of this baby drama brought on by Hayama. God, could this guy just stop existing? Isshiki has a crush on Hayama, but he turns her down. And then we get into some actual pressing matters and that’s futures.
Tumblr media
That’s right, these students are inching closer to their third year in high school and that means they have to nail down their final choices on colleges, career paths, and so on. Yukino seems to be getting into heated arguments about that very subject with her sister and mother. In the season finale, Hikigaya and the girls go to the aquarium for the day and by the end of the day, tensions rose. Yui wanted things to stay the same between the three of them. We all know that can’t happen. Yukino is really reaching to change things. You can see it in her face! There are things Yukino wants to do but doesn’t have the courage to speak up, especially when it comes to her family, her feelings, and her future.
Tumblr media
This issue will continue in the third season.
Tumblr media
ZOKU OVA: Another side-story and we’ve got dates to cover. In the first half, Isshiki goes on a date with Hikigaya. Why? She says it’s practice for when Isshiki asks Hayama out, but then she turns it into some student council thing with the different places they visited prior. The second half had Hikigaya go out with Yui and Yukino in some of the places that he went to with Isshiki. I’m wondering if Isshiki is going to be a major player in the Hikigaya love-shape-of-your-choice after this “date”. But then again, it’s Isshiki. She doesn’t have the star-power that Yukino and Yui ooze. Okay, onto the final season.
Tumblr media
CLIMAX: It starts up right where we left off with this uncomfortableness between Hikigaya, Yui, and Yukino. Although now after this wish from Yui, Yukino decides to let some stuff about herself slide out. For starters, she wants to make some changes when it comes to what’s going on in her own family like take over her father’s business instead of her sister. Yukino also tries to do things without trying to rely on Hikigaya so much. It kinda gets hard to avoid that this season after Isshiki decides she wants to throw a prom at the school.
Tumblr media
Huh?! Wait, that’s interesting. In all of the animes I’ve ever watched…I don’t recall there ever being proms. Here in the states, yes, they are still very much a thing. At least they were 20 years ago when I was in high school. Japan high schools are stricter than in the U.S. so it would make sense that those dances aren’t really common. Okay! Hikigaya and Isshiki are putting together a prom.
Tumblr media
ENDING: Okay, I guess we’re focusing on the prom aspect for the entire season. The majority of this season revolved around going with Isshiki’s plan for a prom. But many problems arose like if there’s enough time to put one on. Will the parent-teacher organization allow this? And then we had more of that melodrama between the trio. Yukino wanting to do things herself and not so co-dependent on Hikigaya and Yui wanting her cake and eat it too. Back to the prom, after much debate, pleading, and an attempt at a fake prom to make the other one look better by comparison, it was decided that the prom would be approved. It was a success. And now for the boom.
Tumblr media
Hikigaya’s fake prom plans from before the real prom was approved was found out by the student council and the parent-teacher organization. So obviously Isshiki was not amused and Yukino’s frosty-bitch mother had to stick her nose in this matter. Well, for one reason or another this prom is getting an approval and is a test for Yukino to prove to her mother that she’s capable of pulling something like this off and better than the previous prom. I swear, I never want to see a prom in an anime ever again after this. A whole season of this crap is enough. With help from Hayama, the cliquie girls, the dorks, the tennis team, and Yui, Hikigaya and Yukino were able to pull off a last-minute prom. At the end of the night while Yukino and Hikigaya were cleaning up, Yukino let an “I love you” slip out.
Tumblr media
Amazing! Yukino is the first one to step-up here. And to think, Hikigaya went with the one girl who didn’t dance with him. Even his teacher danced with him. I honestly thought we were going down the Domestic Girlfriend route with Hikigaya and Miss Hiratsuka some of the time. Not to mention the fanbase to Yui was astronomical. It’s clear that fans preferred Yui to be best girl for Hikigaya. Now, I’m not sure if Hikigaya x Yukino are an official couple or not. In the meantime, let’s see how things are shaping up for the start of their third year.
Tumblr media
Hikigaya’s baby sister Komachi is a first-year student. Miss Hiratsuka has left. The volunteer club is disbanded…actually, thanks to Komachi and Isshiki, the club is revived. And the first person to ask for help this school year is Yui. She would like help as a close friend might be going out with the boy she likes. Yeah, say that out in the open in front of Yukino and Hikigaya.
This series…I know there are lots of people who liked this anime. I just thought it was okay. It’s not a favorite of mine and I will always recommend other romcom animes over this.
I’m not sure if there’s any plan on reviving this series and give it a fourth and final season. I have a feeling that there’s more to this story. The characters are in their third year of high school. At this date and time, an OVA is planning to be released soon as of posting this review. The skepticism here is that this particular OVA has reportedly been delayed for over two years. I’m going to assume this was Covid related and move on. Currently, the light novels are over but the manga is still in publication. Although, I think the manga is heading towards the climax. Whatever the case, I’ll continue to watch. I want to see the end result of this love-polygon. I know my choice is never going to be an option, but who cares!
If you would like to watch this anime, Hidive has season one & three, nobody has season two, and Crunchyroll still has season three. This might of course change. Crunchyroll is slowly getting rid of anything licensed by Sentai and as of recent, Hidive announced more additions for their website. So that could mean the second season will have a home again.

I should probably catch up on Re:Zero before I look up the tags. Everyone in existence has been begging me to watching saying that I'd love it and like, so far they're right!!! I am VERY much enjoying this show. I really love Puck and Rem and Rom and Beatrice 🥺 and I especially love that Beatrice calls Puck "Bubby" because that's what I call my partner xiajwjshshw
My partner told me there's a few controversies with the show and so I was kinda scared to say something publicly about liking it, because I'm not in a good mental standing for people to be harassing and bullying me right now. But as far as I've seen, there's nothing bad??????? He said two of them alleged controversies had already passed and happened, but I don't know????? What controversies they were because I didn't notice any. Like nothing seemingly bad has happened.
So I'm gonna just assume the "controversies" are just Twitter users who find fault in everything and make up dudes to hate all the time. The only thing I could *maybe* see as a problem so far is how Subaru gets creepy about wanting to do romantic things with Emilia, but judging by the episode I left off on last night, I'm pretty sure that's an intentional character flaw that he has to change and overcome. Like Sokka and his misogyny in ATLA. Im pretty sure he's actively going to be going through a character arc the literal next episode I watch. So idk.

Anime Update V2 47
Wolf’s Rain - After taking a week off from this show I got to watch the extra four episodes that make up its true finale as a sort of Easter special. And I gotta say that I don’t think I have that many words that can do it justice. It’s everything you could’ve asked for a conclusion to this anime story to be and even exceeds what you might’ve been expecting to see. It’s uncompromisingly bleak, brutal, and dark, with emotional character deaths one after another the likes of which hadn’t been seen since Sailor Moon. But it’s all for the purpose of strengthening the story’s message about faith in a higher spiritual calling and how we all seek our own Paradise even in the face of all life’s challenges. And the very end of the final episode was beautiful.
Hunter x Hunter - After being unable to defeat Razor and his crew at the sports challenge event, the main party ditches some members and looks for new ones to do it over with now that they know the nature of the game. Then an unexpected plot twist that the opening totally spoiled would happen ahead of time: Hisoka joins the party! Which leads to intrigue with Killua knowing that Hisoka’s lying about stuff and withholding some critical information about the Spiders and why he’s really here, but Hisoka knows he knows and is already well prepared to erase his digital prints and throw the kids off his trail. And Bisky is feigning having a crush on Hisoka? Damn, that’s wacky!
Fruits Basket - As was set up, Shigure finally got to play Dad for Tohru in the parent-teacher conference, and he was as awful at it as you’d expect. But the real focus went to Yuki and (in another surprise entrance) Ayame taking on their abusive mother. It wasn’t very pleasant. Having to put up with the mother and her demeaning of Yuki, self-aggrandizing and playing the victim was excruciating, though that’s by design of the writing. And thankfully, this series doesn’t do what Assassination Classroom did and hastily rewrite the abuser and how she and her child interact so soon after they’d established the abuse story, or Heaven forbid what Your Lie In April did regarding its abusive mother-abused son relationship - it takes a more mature direction with Yuki, after finding the courage to speak his mind and defy his mother to her face, starting to realize how small, fragile, and ultimately not too threatening or significant his mom now seems to him and truly always was, and it’s made clear that the mom’s love for her sons is very much in there but it would not be easy to bring it out to the forefront and magically make her a better person, and so Yuki doesn’t try, focusing on himself instead.
Date A Live S4 - Surprisingly uneventful episode for the most part, with the Spirits making Valentines chocolates for Shido and testing his heart so that he isn’t won over by Kurumi’s alluring tactics. Except for one part where, out of nowhere, Nibelcolle, the clone-creating girl from DEM, shows up at Shido’s window and...kills him, I guess? But then he wakes up like nothing happened. It’s never even spoken of afterwards! Did Kurumi do some off-screen time meddling here!?
Re:ZERO - Finishing Arc 2 made one thing very clear to me - I’m lowkey in love with this series and really not even due to the Isekai elements even if those are better handled than most Isekai. It’s due to these characters. I adore Subaru, he’s gotten legit laughs out of me more times than I can count. Emilia and Puck were super likable and endearing from the get-go, I eagerly await seeing more of Reinhart, Felt, and Old Man Rom, and now with this arc we’ve added Rem, Ram, Beatrice and Roswaal to the fold. Put these guys in any situation and I’d follow them anywhere. And thus my watch goes on!
Symphogear G - Best way to describe this one is Hibiki VS Miku. A lot of other action and fighting went on as well, but the fight between the two dear gal pals was the main draw. Poor Kirika and Shirabe seem at a loss for where to take their very lives at this point, Maria’s going semi-mad while Nastassja is dying, and Dr. Ver continues to be a hamtastic menace who’s now made the Abyssal Ruins rise from the sea so he can summon the Three Great Powers or some shit. And in response, Chris readies to make a desperate play. Chris, no!
MAR - Next match was Jack VS Candace, who was already revealed to be more perky and lovestruck than she seemed to be when she had her mask on but now makes clear that she’s a straight up sadomasochist! I think this was the first truly good fight for Jack, as the way he pulled victory from the jaws of certain defeat was very impressive and even if he didn’t win per say (it was a double KO, a draw), he proved he really has become more capable than before.
Gintama - Another double story episode. The first segment about the Kappa-like Amantu was pretty meh, but the second one about Gin’s search for a fan and how he randomly gets caught in the crossfire of some big, action-packed fight between two factions over a “FAN” (I dare not spoil what it really is) had me howling over its total lunacy.
AND
Moriarty The Patriot - Early into the “The Two Detectives” two-parter, a thought struck me: I would gladly watch a whole show about this version of Sherlock Holmes AND a whole show about this version of Professor Moriarty, and this anime is generous enough to kind of give me both in a single package. The episodes themselves were excellent, being your traditional “Murder On The ___ Express” setup, including the famous “catch me if you can, Mr. Holmes” scene, and showing us Sherlock and Liam working together to solve a case and prove Watson’s innocence (between The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles and this, why are modern Japanese adaptations of Sherlock Holmes so mean to Watson?) How Liam ultimately enables the guilty party to be caught was surprising in how bastardly and underhanded it was, but his reasoning for doing it even when he didn’t need to got an “aaaww” out of me. And then not only is the Holmes-Watson team back together, but we end with the Queen herself tasking one of her agents to a case: f**king Mycroft Holmes!

I’m re:watching re:zero for the third time. (re:re:re:re:zero, but i also read the webnovel up to half arc 6 so its really re:re:re:re:re:zero. Anyway, getting off track here.)
I’m starting to realize something very important and I cannot believe it has escaped me up until now: there is no heterosexual explanation for Barusu and Reinhard’s relationship. I mean, seriously. Like, okay Reinhard is an aight guy, sure. His kidnapping of Felt and how he didn’t even consider giving Rom a heads up that “hey, you know your granddaughter? yeah, I’m gonna yeet her head first into this whole geopolitical stand off. That cool with you?” is more than a bit insane but overall this seems to be mostly atoned for and all.
But how he just goes ridiculously out of his way for our boy Barusu pretty much unprompted from day one, how he gleefully overlooks all the crazy shit Barusu pulls off (I mean, seriously, can you just imagine how batshit crazy our boy must sound to the entirety of Lugunica like half the time? Like, yo, this kid larping as captain Ahab over there, showing an uncanny understanding of all the different factions underhanded plots and masterfully traveling through all of them... isn’t that the same kid that made an ass of himself in front of this nation’s entire ruling class because he - allegedly - knows jack shit about our culture, customs, history, social structure and all that? That’s the guy leading us into battle? Oh, ok just wanted to clear that out.), how he gets that wee glint in his eyes whenever Barusu is near... Reinhard wants Barusu. As far as I’m concerned there’s no two ways about this.
So yeah, my point is Rem (the blue haired comatose one) has competition from more than just Emilia and I can’t believe I am only realizing that now. And I’m not even counting pretty much all the witches and the other candidates in the royal selection. (I am, however, very much NOT counting Petra).

Re:Nope (Final Rose x Re:Zero)
Averia closed her eyes to enjoy a pleasant nap... and then opened them again to find herself in the middle of a busy marketplace with people in unfamiliar clothing all around her. Saviour stirred to life and confirmed what she already suspected.
She wasn’t on Remnant anymore.
For a moment, she could only look heavenward. This sounded exactly like the beginning of one of those different world stories that Diana liked. It would be just her like to be transmigrated while taking a nap to a world that needed saving because, clearly, helping to save one world wasn’t enough.
Sighing, she ran one hand over her face. Her Semblance was no longer at its full strength. Admittedly, it was extremely unlikely that anything on any world could threaten her with even a weakened Saviour at her disposal, but it was still aggravating that her Semblance hadn’t transmigrated with her in its entirety. She might not have unlocked the fourth level of Saviour yet, but the three levels she had already unlocked meant that nothing except her parents or her sister could face her and live.
“Relax, big sis. It’s because the game would be too easy otherwise. Think of it as bumping up the difficulty a bit.” Yes, she could practically hear Diana saying something like that.
Oh well. Saviour would eventually return to its full strength - at least that’s what her Semblance was telling her - so she simply needed to continue to work on it while keeping an eye out for anything that could legitimately threaten her, unlikely though that may be.
In the meantime, she might as well do some exploring.
Naturally, that was when a group of thugs decided to threaten her. She took one look at them - scruffy, boorish, and lacking anything even remotely resembling skill - and dealt with them using the same contemptuous ease she would have shown lesser Grimm. Within seconds, they were all unconscious and in varying states of injury.
As she dragged the group toward one of the main streets - there had to be law enforcement here if there was a marketplace - she took a moment to consider her attire. Rather than one of her favoured suits or even more casual wear, she was wearing what appeared to be a modified version of the clothing she wore when Saviour was active.
Her lips twitched.
It was an outfit that Fraise had suggested. It played up the knightly aspects of Saviour, clothing her in armour that was much more functional in appearance, as opposed to Saviour’s default look that had clearly been designed with looking as cool as possible in mind. As Diana had said, after seeing it, Averia would have looked perfect if cast as a dashing lady knight tasked with saving a nation.
Given her luck so far, she might end up having to do exactly that.
After handing the thugs over to a patrol - she’d emptied their pockets, of course, because anyone trying to rob her deserved to get robbed in return - she spoke to some shopkeepers. The fact that she could understand them and they could understand her was frankly obnoxious and suggested that there was magic or something of the sort at work. Thankfully, learning to read the local writing was a breeze. Saviour bullshit was really the best.
She was in the midst of asking the shopkeeper where she could find books about magic - because magic was apparently real here - when someone approached her.
“Please!” the young woman with silver hair and purple eyes ran up to her. “I need your help!”
Averia tilted her head to one side. She’d been joking about the whole getting transmigrated to save the world thing, but this... this was exactly the kind of event that usually happened in those stories Diana read and in the games she played. It might start off with helping some seemingly random young woman, but that would would invariably turn out to be a princess, and then ‘help’ would inevitably spiral into saving the world.
Then again, Averia had never been one to shy away from a fight, and simply walking away from someone who genuinely needed help was not something she wanted to do. Besides, if she really had been transmigrated to another world, then she needed to find a way back. And the quickest way to find a way back was to make connections with other people who were native to this new world.
“If I may ask,” Averia began. “But why did you approach me?”
The girl blushed. “I... um... well.. I assumed you were a knight.” She gestured vaguely at Averia’s outfit. “Was I wrong?”
“You are...” Averia paused. “Correct, in a way. What seems to be the problem.”
“Someone stole something very important form me, and I need to find it.”
Averia was then treated to a brief description of events as the girl, who had called herself Satella, told her what happened. The name she’d given was a lie - lying to someone with Saviour was generally an exercise in futility, even without the Semblance active - but Averia let it pass. Instead, she focused on the problem at hand.
“I can track it down for you,” Averia said. “But I will need your help in return.”
“What do you need?” Satella asked.
“I’m not from around here. I need someone who can show me around the city and tell me more about this place.”
Satella smiled. “I’d be happy to do that.”
Tracking the object in question was not difficult. The ‘magic’ people had here seemed to be unique to each person, and it left an energy signature that Saviour could easily identify and trace. The pair followed the energy signature into the slums of the city and a building only to hear the sounds of a struggle inside.
“Stay behind me,” Averia ordered before simply kicking the door off its hinges and stepping inside.
There was a large man on the ground, badly wounded but still alive, and a girl crouched over him in a defensive stance. Their assailant was a woman using a pair of blades. She was attractive from a physical standpoint, but Saviour was quick to point out a host of inconsistencies.
First and foremost, the woman appeared to have an ability that allowed her to regenerate wounds at an incredible rate. She was also clearly skilled with her weapons. Both of these things were revealed by a combination of Saviour’s ability to glimpse the past and parallel timelines and by its ability to analyse anything within its range.
She could easily see how even someone as large as the man on the ground would have been defeated and overwhelmed. Her brief peek into the past and other timelines also revealed a rather bizarre habit involving her new opponent and guts.
“Oh?” the woman, Elsa, cackled. “Someone new? I can’t wait to see what your guts -”
It might have been the fact that the woman shared the same name as her teammate and was entirely the opposite sort of person, but Averia didn’t bother to let her finish. A blade materialised and then stabbed her in the head at speeds that would have put a rail gun to shame. The attack instantly vaporised her head, and some extra Saviour magic ensured that she stayed dead.
“...” Everyone else in the room fell silent.
“You there,” Averia said. “You have something that belongs to my friend here. Return it to her, and I’ll heal that man beside you.”

Author’s Notes
Nothing like having the equivalent of a thermonuclear weapon get isekaid into Re:Zero. Averia is still in her emotionally oblivious, extremely blunt stage, so she’s going to approach this situation with the view of simply killing all the bad people and trying to find a way home.
Watch out, villains! Saviour bullshit is headed your way.

Oh hey, did you hear we’ve got a new season of anime airing? Wild how these things come and go. Considering how many shows I’m gonna be watching, I figured I’d give a quick rundown of first impressions now that most first episodes have aired. Maybe you’ll be inspired to check out something you never even heard about!
2.43 Seiin High School Boys Volleyball Team: Looks like Haikyuu by way of Stars Align. Animation and directing is excellent, possibly very gay? I dig it. Just hope the melodrama doesn’t entirely choke it to death.
Attack on Titan Final Season: I don’t think Mappa is quite as up to the task as I want them to be, but this is still pretty fucking awesome. Can’t believe we’re almost at the end of an era.
Cells at Work Season 2: Whoever decided to air season 2 alongside its spinoff was pretty dumb.
Cells at Work Code Black: Because the spinoff is actually kinda better and has actual emotional stakes.
Horimiya: Funny and sweet rom-com that feels very true to the teenage experience. Lovable characters, great direction, looking forward to more. Just keep that teacher offscreen as much as possible.
Mushoku Tensei (Jobless Reincarnation: First isekai in a while with promise. Gorgeous animation and art style, feels like a genuine fantasy for once. Needs to start being way less creepy ASAP, tho.
Otherside Picnic: Proof that great direction can compensate for bad animation. Cool urban fantasy sci-fi horror gimmick, and I’m told it’s gay, so this is right up my alley.
Quintessential Quintuplets Season 2: Somehow, the new studio is resulting in a worse production than the first season. Didn’t think that was possible, but here we are.
Scar on the Praeter: Shockingly more enjoyable than you’d expect from GoHands. Probably nothing special, but could be a fun pretty-boys schlocky action series with slick animation.
SK8 the Infinity: WATCH. THIS. FUCKING. SHOW.
So I’m a Spider, So What?: Will entirely depend on how long it takes for Aoi Yuki’s performance to get grating. Not much to recommend otherwise.
Vlad-Love: I have no idea what’s going on in Mamoru Oshii’s hyperactive slapstick lesbian vampire romcom, but I think I love it. Officially starts airing on Valentine’s Day, so mark your calendars.
Yuru Camp Season 2: Surprised by how much I missed this show. First episode was very comf, looking forward to more.
I’ll also be watching Wonder Egg and the new seasons of Dr. Stone and Slime Isekai, while I’ll later watch the new Re:Zero, Beastars and Promised Neverland in full binge-watches. Look forward to that!
