Wowow!! Your art!! Your style!! And you’re a hobbyist? Your work carries the feel of someone who has done this a loooong time! Just wanted to say that 💕
Aww thanks! And yup, I am indeed simply a hobbyist, this is a side gig at best for me, haha. I've been doing art for over 12 years now, and only 4 of them have been done seriously digitally. I learned almost everything I know purely from practice and looking at pieces, other than that I used a book called morpho to better understand anatomy. I never took any advanced art classes or seminars, just practice to get where I am now!
#sorry bout the late response#still in the process of moving lol#man that rolltop desk was heavy...#i have taken art classes before but they weren't helpful#they were just the art classes required in like highschool#most advanced thing we did was shade a circle to a sphere lol

#screaming & sobbing over that $15 rolltop desk at goodwill that was too big for my car#I want either a rolltop or a drafting table w drawers

also realizing that I didnt have any of these wrist and joint issues typing with my old desk back in the US bc I actually was able to use a preventative setup to not fuck with my joints since I had an Actual Desk and not. an airbnb end table with a swivel chair in front of it
#living jumping from rental to rental like this just gets harder and harder with age#and I'm not even 30 yet so I really can't complain much in that dept#but I'm getting to the point where things actually start to hurt#remy yells#every day I yearn for my old rolltop

Flipping heck. Barely got the house put together in prep for tearing it apart later today. But we can't have it looking like an absolute tip when people come round to give us stuff we bartered for later, can we?

bad callback! William Morris was actually a key figure in bringing the Victorians away from an overly-decorative, maximalist interior design sensibility and towards the more pared-back, practicality-first Arts and Crafts Movement, which aesthetically mirrored his socialist ideals. if William Morris heard I was putting the more beautiful, but less practical table in pride of place he would call me a decadent and an aesthete and mail off a very snippy letter to John Ruskin about sending me to work in a state-owned coalmine.
I scrounged a very nice hardwood table from outside and didn't notice until I set it up that's it's a foot taller than a dining room table should be. like it's the same height as my kitchen counters. very odd

Accountability post: today I will clean up my desk. It's a giant oak rolltop desk I inherited from my grandfather.
It is currently covered in boxes and random stuff and I really should make it a useful space and not just a catchall I tend to ignore.
Is this accountability post about people who read this or maybe it is to my ancestors, who I'm just now realizing, seem to hang around me a lot in this liminal space at the end of the year?
#im also missing my old best friend#probably the person I've mused most about family dynamics besides my partner#big changes are possible and they helped me think theough an old choice that relates#i miss feeling understood in the way they understood me#i still dont know what went wrong#but glad im not the only one who thinks they just got weird

oh hey, did you wanna see my digital art?
ID: Digital illustration of an anthro toucan in a 1980s setting. The toucan has a beak striped in unusual colors with purple, red, and yellow, and is wearing 80s business casual clothing with a knit vest and bright red tie. His feet are kicked up onto his rolltop desk and leaned against a 1984 Apple Macintosh computer which is open to a partially finished drawing of a bird. His casual pose suggests he's taking a break from his work to talk, and he has his keyboard resting in his lap.
his name is supershades:
ID2: Colorful 1980s graphic showing a toucan wearing blue shades and a red tie. The toucan has a yellow, red, and purple beak like the drawing in the previous post. Text reads: SuperShades Scrapbook.
