His plan really went ass over tea-kettle this time - so much for his classic 'hail mary play' to turn the bad situation back towards his favor. Slowly Flash's hands raised, chiding himself for exclusively building the reputation of a fast and loose vigilante in Gotham. Heavy feet shifted to face the woman - of course it was one of them too.

"They - I know how this probably looks. But the guys inside are the real problem here." Confidently while hiding behind a symbiote provided mask. Sure thing, Thompson. That's how you win them over.

A heavy breath rose from his chest as he patted his face dry with a towel. The splash of cold water had helped calm him a little, but he doubted he'd be going back to sleep any time soon. He didn't turn when she spoke, but he glanced at her in the mirror.

Was it the same as last time?

Dick wished that it wasn't a common enough occurrence for her to even have to ask that question. He was Nightwing. The first Robin. The light to Batman's dark. He was supposed to take everything in his stride. He was the one his siblings came to when they were struggling – the one Bruce came to when he was struggling.

He knew that they would happily do the same for him. He knew he didn't have to go it alone, and he knew what a damn hypocrite he was when he was the first person to tell his family not to do just that.

He was so good at putting a smile on his face, only for it to falter when he thought nobody was looking. It was as much a mask as the one he donned as Nightwing.

To the outside world, Dick Grayson was fine but on the inside? Sometimes he felt like he was falling.

"More or less," he admitted after a long time. The details were always a little different. Sometimes it was him who sabotaged his parent's wires. Sometimes it was his new family who was falling. "The dreams always get worse when it's coming up to the anniversary."

   he almost wanted to wince at the sound of his full name. usually, that was only reserved for when he was in trouble. or, for alfred. an enemy or two of his used it but...he’d rather not visit those thoughts. even still, he was happy that he was working in the same city again. he just needed to finish a few notes, not hearing her call his name the first few times. his attention finally breaking, turning around to face her and feeling a smile start to tug up on his eyes.

“ I’m not in trouble, am I?” raising an eyebrow at her, part of him was hoping that he wasn’t. the other part, well, that part knew that he would have deserved it if he was. “ because, I didn’t hack your system...again.”

idk them but i do know dani @decthbringer / @rollingthundcr / @purplearchcr and boy-o do i have a lot to say!!!! dani tbh your writing was (and is) always SOOOO impressive to me, like i remember seeing your babs and being like we are not even remotely in the same league <3 like its how in depth and deep and unafraid of the difficult topics/inner monologues you are and the way you put SO MUCH into all of your characters that actually makes me award u with the spectacular writer award. like each character you write has SUCH complex desires and thoughts and the way you just keep getting it perfectly right time after time. i also have soup brain so i remember thinking very similar thoughts for kate and elektra and then when i realized it was also you i was like OH MAKES SENSE. most importantly i am so sorry with how long it takes me to reply and i can promise its 100%%% because i cant think of anything even close to similar to your writing and i keep thinking it'll come later and then it just never does SO for now you will have to endure my crap because i enjoy you, your writing and your characters too much <3
