Do you think Kenny actually likes cartman? I’m not so sure since the reading of his will in s9e4 (https://youtu.be/QGx92r8NLIM)
I feel like nobody likes him but Kyle is the only one who thinks he can possibly get better at all.
I agree on some level with that last statement. Due to Kyle's morals and complicated attachment to Cartman, he would be the only one willing to nurture the potential Cartman has, though I'd say Cartman isn't universally hated as one would assume. I think Kenny and Cartman's friendship deepened off screen since s9. It shows itself strongly in the covid specials and post-covid (not post covid the special, I mean like.. after the actual irl covid and.. ARGH mattrey u make my life so difficult)
      Kenny was the one to approach Cartman about the fragility of the broship and inspires Cartman to be the one to make sure the gang stays together. That's a level of openness and vulnerability that frankly, I haven't seen him share with Stan or Kyle. Quite the opposite in fact-- When Kenny finally admits he's immortal, Stan and Kyle dismiss him in their own way. Neither have made the move to sympathize with him since, especially at the level Cartman does in the covid episodes. Now, Cartman's "sympathetic" method of coddling Kenny wasn't the best thing to do I'd say, the show was clear  Stan, Kyle and Cartman weren’t handling the broship fallout well, but Cartman definitely proved himself as the “best friend” the show has claimed he’s been in prioritizing Kenny during Covid. We even get a verbal reminder from Cartman and Kyle in Post-Covid that despite it being the literal worst future for everyone, Cartman and Kenny’s friendship thrived. With the opposite lives they lead, it's astounding they remained best friends for forty years.
That level of loyalty is kicking Stan and Kyle in the dirt and laughing rn. Look at Dikinbaus! Cartman and Kenny had a blast “planning the business” (ie living it up as owners and mutually taking advantage of Butters to just pal around) and Cartman once again concedes to Kenny when he lets him work from home. It’s a gag first and foremost, but still, I think it works as part of character analysis lolol. I’m analyzing this a lot from Cartman’s perspective, or at least his actions, but I don’t rlly have much to go by on Kenny’s end and I hope y’all can see why lol. excluding the Mysterion arc and the s22 Halloween episode, he’s a passive character. things rly just are happening to this dude.
Cartman's attachment to Kenny has grown exponentially since the early seasons ("I hate yew guys/ specially kinny/ ah hate em the most/") whereas we've heard directly from Kenny what he thought of Cartman at the time s9 was written but we don't really know what he thinks of Cartman presently. Now, mattrey have written Kenny's quietness and frequent disappearances as part of the charm of his character--the mysteriousness with a pinch of hidden sadness, maybe a dash of loneliness--and not like, a serious writing pitfall of not knowing what to do with one of your main characters, not giving them the chance to let the audience see their motivations. So the uncertainty surrounding Kenny's true opinions, in this case of his friendship with Cartman, isn't by accident. I'd say it's fair to assume Kenny now views Cartman as a best friend, given how much Cartman has done for him.
I’d also say it’s fair to assume the pity for Cartman hasn’t changed.
#asks#south park#eric cartman#kenny mccormick#kennman#sure this could be seen as kennman why not lol#now Kyle believes cartman can change and maybe kenny can see it too but kenny definitely isn’t proactive enough to put in the effort to#see it thru#Kenny’s friendship with Cartman has grown to become the least tumultuous of the m4#so Kenny doesn’t need to feel compelled to search for the food in cartman. he already sees in in their friendship#on a writing level it’s just… off to have Cartman and Kenny go thru so much only for Kenny to still have the same opinions of Cartman in s9#they’ve taken on this weird new role where Cartman takes it upon himself to console kenny in addition to stringing hm along in his schemes#ohh but as much as i’ve said that kyle sees good in cartman and wants to be the one to help see that goodness come to fruition#it’s also try that as of s20 Kyle’s been disillusioned#he told heidi ‘Cartman will never change’ and I think that was a wake up call for himself as much as it was for heidi#when cartman gave up the pangolin all kyle said was ‘i don’t believe it’#when cartman said he converted kyle refused to give cartman a chance even at the end of the special#s7 kyle would’ve clung to the promise of cartman changing with rosy eyes full of hope#that hope for cartman ain’t dead but dormant rn. the heiman arc rly burnt him out#Cartman get off ur ass and win Kyle back pls he’s so done w/ u rn my guy he will Nope himself out of stories now so he won’t deal w/ u#(kyle’s absence in streaming wars was rly felt)#wait in streaming wars kyle had a ‘he can change 🥺’ moment when he went ‘🥺’ for cartman when talkin abt the surgery#he was on everyone’s case abt the surgery he was on top of managing cartman’s boat building quality#but yeah cartman ended up taking the money for himself and. now we’re fuckin back to square one :))#although i’d say in streaming wars cartman didn’t withhold the deets on the surgery on purpose. he didn’t know what was going on#when he went to talk to the guys and he was genuine.#ANAYWAYS FUCK OK STOP TALKING EPSERANZA GOD

I had some more ideas for the role swap au, they're just small details but still ideas.
- Ben stays way longer in the cycle than game Audrey due to being captured by Alice and kept prisoner in Audrey's care. It's her weird version of trying to bond with her brother, Alice knows how much Audrey wants him to accept her and helps.
- When first meeting Audrey, Benjamin wasn't aware she was the ink demon Allison warned him about and she took advantage of this. It was only until Allison spotted them together did Audrey's mood shift towards him, leading to Alice taking him.
- Despite being very good at being a caring older sister towards her ink siblings, she struggled to hold that image with Benjamin occasionally due to jealous bitterness.
- Audrey and Alice are married. Audrey was the one to propose with a metal ring she tore from a keeper.
- Audrey keeps the skull of the original ink demon somewhere, probably on top of her bed or something.
- Allison was offered to be part of Audrey's group which she refused many times, each time ending with threats.
- Audrey suffers from night terrors a lot.
- One of Audrey's biggest regrets is consuming the ink demon, not because he tasted bad but because she grew his limp and other weaknesses. She deeply hates it.
- Memory Joey is aware of Audrey and tries talking to her, she always ends up killing him in rage.
- Alice kept her memories from each cycle after Audrey took her in and has mixed feelings towards Allison.
- Allison got her name from Benjamin because he recognised her voice from the actor and even feared that she was the real Allison trapped with him.
- The corruption of the ink realm began after Audrey ate the Ink Demon, leading to Henry sensing something was deeply wrong when the demon failed to appear
- Despite doctors saying it was old age, Audrey managed to damage Joey's heart enough to kill him.
- The method to taking down Audrey included: A tranquil dart made by Betty that could realistically take down an elephant, it only weakened her enough to separate from Ben and put her in a slight daze, beating the shit out of her and getting a sword to the head.
- It took Audrey 6 months to recover
- She hated every moment of recovery due to being babied, but didn't mind it when it was Alice looking after her.
- Sammy is still alive due to spite
- Both Porter and Heidi have their own rooms designed to fit their desires by Audrey.
- Audrey hates Sammy. No one knows why and she refuses to elaborate.

QUERIDO EVAN HANSEN
TALLER DE 3° ITM, PRACTICAS DE INTERPRETACIÓN EN EL TEATRO MUSICAL 21/22
this is a delight… obviously the production values aren’t the highest but many fun acting and staging choices here, especially the four evans, and i’m impressed that they managed to incorporate the anonymous ones and hiding in your hands without cutting songs
#is that legal? probably not but i doubt any other element of this is. think they also ripped some ywbf projections right from the movie#dear evan hansen#don't know spanish well enough to comment on most of the nuances of the translation but i can tell they cut some dialogue#e.g. the “nothing unrealistic” lines from sincerely me; the lines about dana p from evan and alana's act 1 conversation;#some of jared & evan's dialogue about the connor murphy memorabilia market; squip connor dissing jared;#alana offering jared the role of treasurer or secretary; “great idea evan” / “thank you jared” / “no sweat”;#cutting off sincerely me reprise after the first four lines??? and cutting some dialogue there and in the following heidi scene;#the lines about evan's dad in to break in a glove; evan and zoe joking about a kegger; “wonder of wonders miracle of miracles”;#heidi & cynthia & larry's wine discussion; the chicken milanese; the sulu/sula confusion; some of evan and heidi's pre-gfy fight;#alana's comment about evan dating zoe; a few lines in the scenes around for forever reprise and words fail; & the pottery barn discount#evan & jared's spanish project becomes an english project quite appropriately; heidi now says “fuck” after the gfy fight which i love#and zoe's line of “i didn't realize you were actually capable of saying something that wasn't nice” gets turned into#something that ends in “politically correct” instead of “nice” which is a fascinating change#don't love the audience laughter at the dialogue around the anonymous ones given that it's not supposed to be funny#but it sure does speak to the quality of that dialogue compared to the text of the original stage show#also there is clearly a tumblr post in the ywbf projections lmao. may make this the only version of the show to acknowledge tumblr

lando's gf who's apparently dating him and some footballer at the same time (or are they a throuple?); one of charles' skinny brunettes allegedly tried to pass off gold plated jewelry as gold; alexandra's sockpuppet tiktok accounts and supposedly fake diploma; estelle lying about her age (supposedly)
mind you i get all my wag gossip from tiktok so. take this with a massive grain of salt and know that the algorithm only gives me those and kika (for whom wagtok claims is an escort!?!?!?!)

Aries Moon:
✿ On the bright side, Aries Moon have mothers who are very independent and strong
✿ They can be seen as someone who can handle a lot of things without having to seek someone else’s help
✿ They are mothers who are often the head of the house and makes the rules
✿ They are also people who are very driven in the things they do and someone who is always active
✿ The more dominant parent/figure in the family
✿ Mothers who make most of the decisions for the family
✿ Mothers who are protective over her children
✿ Their mothers could have been or are very active/athletic
✿ Yet, on the negative side, they can be seen as mothers who are impatient and domineering.
✿ Someone who seeks control all of the time and someone who is very argumentative
✿ I think Seventeen Joshua might be an Aries Moon instead of a Taurus moon because he stated that his mother was very hardworking and raised him all by herself (this is just my opinion btw)
Taurus Moon:
✿ Very protective mothers
✿ These mothers are viewed as strong-willed, stubborn and patient
✿ Natives tend to have a close relationship with their mothers
✿ Mothers who would constantly check up on their children to ensure their child's safety and also for security
✿ Very responsible mothers
✿ Someone who likes to dress their children up (especially daughters)
✿ Mothers may often feel comfortable sharing their clothes with their daughters as they grow older. (I seen this happening with both my cousin and my friend)
✿ On the other hand, their mothers can also be viewed as someone who is very materialistic and superficial
✿ These mothers may also show their love language through cooking for the native or just something related with food
✿ My cousin is a taurus moon and my aunt would be very picky about what foods my cousin consumes especially as an infant (Like no salt in the food and vegetables only).
✿ But also, my aunt spends a lot of her income into makeup, bags and jewelries, etc.
✿ The natives can inherit the mother's relationship with food for some reason...
Gemini Moon:
✿ Mother might gossip a lot
✿ A little bit scattered but also someone who is very mentally stimulating
✿ Mother may be someone who values intelligence or socialization
✿ Native may see mother as someone who is very chatty/gossipy
✿ Mother may also look very youthful
✿ The type of mother who may be mistaken as their child’s sister
✿ Someone who is very versatile and flexible with their ways
✿ Natives may view their mother as someone adaptable but also someone who is very flakey
✿ Natives may also admire their mother for their intelligence and adaptability
✿ Also, natives with Gemini moons tend to have siblings as well (ex: Rachel McAdam, Heidi Klum, Ateez's Hongjoong and Yunho, Seventeen's Hoshi, Monster X's Minhyuk, Itzy's Yuna, NCT's Doyoung, it goes on and on.)
✿ Also, mercurial moons tend to look like their mothers?
Cancer Moon:
✿ May have mothers who are nurturing and maybe even baby their child a lot
✿ Mothers who are very attached to their kids or their children plays a huge role in the mothers life.
✿ May be a bit too smothering and places too much emphasis on the child
✿ Cancer moon individuals typically have a good relationship with their mother
✿ Cancer moon natives who have good relationships with their mother tend to take on their mother's nurturing energy in their own lives
✿ On the other side, cancer moon individuals may view their mother as overemotional and hard to communicate with
✿ They may also be very manipulative and unstable
✿ Oftentimes, the mother may get very emotional and might cry when the native upsets them
✿ Cancer moon mothers tend to be the 'stereotypical' mothers in a way
✿ They tend to follow the traditional gender roles in their home
✿ Seventeen's Dokyeom have a cancer moon and they always say that he was 'raised in a warm home'
✿ Additionally, Enhypen's Jay is also a cancer moon and he has a really wholesome relationship with his mother too
Leo Moon:
✿ Mother tend to fixate more on themselves than their children
✿ A little self-centered and dramatic
✿ Someone who appears very confident and sure of themselves
✿ On the bad side, someone who may have a narcissistic personality
✿ And the individual moon may view their mothers as someone who is in constant need of attention
✿ May be the one with authority in the family/authority parent
✿ Most Leo Moon friend I have does not have the best relationship with their mothers
✿ One of them, her mother values popularity and is a drama queen...
✿ Two of them, their mothers tend to prioritize their other children over the native
Virgo Moon:
✿ Mothers who pay close attention to their child's lifestyle and health
✿ Mothers who may be very critical
✿ Mothers who are detailed-orientated when it comes to their child like walking a specific way or the child's postures, etc.
✿ Shows their love through acts of service
✿ They tend to be very keen about being clean
✿ First to point out the native's flaws
✿ The native may think that their mother do not care as much for them as they do with their siblings
✿ The character Hong Haein from Queen of Tears have a virgo moon and her relationship with her mother is often strained because she always thought her mother cared more about her younger brother than her (which was true tho...)
✿ Additionally, her mother saw Haein as the child who was more capable of taking care of herself which Virgo Moon mothers tend to do
✿ They put their child in a more responsible position than their other children
✿ The type of mother who their child can rely on like a safety net at the end of the day
✿ The mother may expect the native to be more productive in their day to day life compared to their siblings. More towards the way of "I expect the house to be clean by the time I'm home from work."
Libra Moon:
✿ Prioritizes beauty and focuses on the better things in life
✿ May prioritize their other relationships over their children especially romantic relationships.
✿ Very beauty-orientated
✿ May be just as superficial as Taurus moons too
✿ Gossipers!!!
✿ Libra moon natives are usually (not all) more cared for than their siblings as kids for some reason? May be the golden child when younger.
✿ These individuals can be very close with their mother.
✿ Jackson Wang have a libra moon, need I say more?
Scorpio Moon:
✿ Very private and protective mothers
✿ These individuals tend to learn and take after their mother's emotional strength
✿ A lot of scorpio moons tend to have single mothers but also their mother tend to provide financial security (ex: Jennie from Blackpink, Cai Xukun, etc)
✿ Also another one that tends to have a close mother-child relationship, for the better or the worse...
✿ Scorpio Moons remind me of Ms. Moh and Eungseong in Queen of Tears (He's either a Scorpio Moon or a Capricorn Moon... but I'm leaning towards Scorpio due to his abandonment issues and his mother's way of compensating for her absence was literally through giving him the money she obtained from chairman Hong).
✿ Someone who may be manipulative, calculative and sly
✿ However, they will always back their children up
✿ They type of mother who never sees their child's wrongdoing...
✿ May have a hard time expressing their love and affection towards their children
✿ Even though the relationship between the native and their mothers are most often described as "intense" and "complicated" the mother will protect their children even if the child is at fault.
✿ I think scorpio moon mothers either trust their child 100% or put little trust in her children.
✿ I think scorpio moon mothers prefer to be private but they will show themselves if they think their children is in danger. (ex: Cai Xukun using him as a example again 😭)
Sagittarius Moon:
✿ Social butterflies!
✿ They may have travelled a lot or just someone who enjoys traveling
✿ Mother may be someone who always seek knowledge
✿ Mother may also put a lot of emphasis on higher education
✿ May be impulsive...or just quick tempered
✿ 0 to 100 real quick as they are Jupiter-ruled
✿ I remember when BTS Namjoon said that his mother ruined his computer and mic because she wanted him to focus on his studies
✿ Mother may be the type to take their children traveling to learn about the world
✿ May also be the type to take interest in trivia or just have a lot of random knowledge
Capricorn Moon:
✿ Another one whose mothers tend to be very private
✿ Another one of mothers may have a hard time expressing their love and affection outwardly/towards their children
✿ But may also be very cutthroat and focuses on business more than their family
✿ A lot of Capricorn moons in my life typically do not have a good relationship with their mothers
✿ Natives with Capricorn moons may view their mother as someone who is very stern and unsympathetic
✿ Capricorn moon mothers are the type of mother to use authoritarian parenting style along with Aries moon (just my take, not every Capricorn/Aries moon mothers are like that!)
✿ On the bright side, like most earth moons, Capricorn moon mothers may be perceived as someone responsible and mature
✿ They are someone who is practical and ambitious
✿ Usually, the native with Capricorn moon will take on this trait too
Aquarius Moon:
✿ Mother either acts like a friend to the native or they are very detached from the native...
✿ Mother may be very open-minded
✿ Song Jia have an Aquarius moon and she stated once that her only friend is her mother
✿ Celebrities/idols who have Aquarius moons, their mothers tend to be loved by the community
✿ May appear in social media more than other moon signs
✿ Mothers who may be very involved with their communities
✿ Billie Eilish and her mother have both taken part in promoting a healthier environment and sustainability for the world
✿ If cancer moons are like the "traditional" mothers, then Aquarius moons would be like the opposite
✿ These mothers values eccentricity, intelligence and community.
✿ For some reason, Aquarius moon mothers gives me the PTO mom vibes 😅
Pisces Moon:
✿ Mothers may be very spiritual or religious
✿ Great manifestors lol
✿ It always remind me of that one story of Seventeen Mingyu’s story of his mother where she went to pray for someone to take him away because he was such a difficult child, and guess what? A week later, he was taken to Pledis as a trainee 😁
✿ Pisces Moon mothers may also be very artistic or creative
✿ Mother may be very deceptive
✿ They say one thing and do the other
✿ Mothers may either be very emotional or too distant
✿ Because of Jupiter + Neptune influence, they can be very ambitious and dream big
✿ A negative manifestation of those with pisces moons may be that their mother may struggle with some sort of addiction. (gambling, drinking, smoking, drugs etc.)
✿ Mother may oftentimes isolate?

Hi! I wanted to ask if you had any literature / research / resources on femme lesbian identity? I find so much on butch but so little on femme. I feel like you've probably posted this before but the Tumblr search button is STRUGGLING for me today.
yep, I do!!! And to be honest, I very much understand the sentiment. sorry I took a while to reply, but here are a few good places to start:
The Persistent Desire edited by Joan Nestle
Persistence: All ways butch and femme edited by Ivan Coyote and Zena Sharman
S/he by Minnie Bruce Pratt
My Lesbian Husband: Landscapes of a Marriage by Barrie Jean Borich (this isn’t about the concept itself I suppose in any explicit ways, but shares the femme perspective quite heavily so I’ll include it anyways)
Rust Belt Femme by Rachael Anne Jolie
The Femme Mystique edited by Leslea Newman
Making intelligible the controversies over femme identities: A functionalist approach to conceptualizing the subversive meanings of femme genders - Heidi M. Levitt & Kathleen M. Collins
Femme: Feminists, Lesbians and Bad Girls by Laura Harris and Elizabeth Crocker
Brazen Femme: Queering Femininity by Chloë Brushwood Rose and Anna Camilleri
I hope these help, do let me know what you think if you get a chance to read them!! <3
Edit: Mind you, it’s worth adding that I have very mixed feelings about The Femme Mystique by Leslea Newman, so as I recommend it, I also need to mention, take it with a healthy grain of salt. Most of those resources come from a subjective place, from one perspective or more at a time, from different times in history, which means that some aspects that fit me perfectly might not work the same for you and vice versa. In order for you to put together your version of femme, I find it important reading about different perspectives and seeing what fits you or not, in a very conscious identity building kind of way, because it’s a complex identity, along with being in touch with your community and discussing identity with other femmes and butches, those discussions will only help you grow, especially considering how much of a community role it is along with butch.

A poster of a female cadre photographed by Christian Freund. Source: Center for the Study of Political Graphics (CSPG).
Women’s Liberation
A striking aspect of the popular revolutionary movement in Dhufar was the PFLOAG’s commitment to the liberation of women, a policy that was adopted at the 1968 Hamrin Conference. The PFLOAG believed that the liberation of women was central to the success of the revolution which would not come about automatically but through a sustained struggle against the “objective backwardness” of society.  1 The Dhufar Revolution was influenced by Maoist thought, including on the equality of female cadres, popularised through Mao’s famous declaration that “women can hold up half the sky”.  2 Women’s political participation in the armed struggle alongside men was deemed an important aspect of equality while specific policies were later implemented in the liberated areas to transform the social position of women, such as the banning of female circumcision, polygyny, and the reduction of the bride price after unsuccessful attempts to abolish it completely.
The PFLOAG’s policies remarkably challenged the “unhappy marriage” between feminism and Marxism, as conceptualised by the Western feminist scholar Heidi Hartmann in 1979 – in other words, the tension between women’s liberation and national liberation. 3 The PFLOAG recognised the double oppression faced by women, both in terms of their position as women in relation to men, and in terms of their position as women in relation to the economic system. Attracted to the PFLOAG’s radical position, the Lebanese filmmaker Heiny Srour travelled to Dhufar in 1971, capturing documentary footage of women fighters later used in her 1974 film The Hour of Liberation Has Arrived (Saat El Tahrir Dakkat). 4
I was a defeated feminist in Lebanon. The Lebanese Left was not interested in feminist issues and kept closing the subject under various pretexts, one being that the women will be free when the main enemy, Imperialism, is defeated. […] I couldn’t believe my ears when the representative of the Popular Front for the Liberation of the Occupied Arabian Gulf opened the subject of women from his own initiative and proudly said that the Front was fighting against women’s oppression — because women were not just oppressed by imperialism and class society, but also by their father, husband, brothers. I dropped my other film projects and put all my energy into making this film.  5”
— Heiny Srour on The Hour of Liberation Has Arrived
The campaigns for, and implementation of, the above mentioned policies came through the initiatives of revolutionary women, the Bahraini cadre Laila Fakhro (Huda Salem) for example pushed the PFLOAG to ban female circumcision and limit the bride price. 6 Laila Fakhro also played an important role in the revolution through political education, teaching, care-work, women’s activities, and the PFLOAG’s media and foreign relations. 7 The PFLOAG’s other main periodical, 9 Yunyu (9 June), was a monthly magazine which preceded Sawt al-Thawra’s founding, set up in June 1970 by Laila Fakhro and Abdel Rahman al-Nuaimi (Said Seif). 8
Sawt al-Thawra promoted women’s political participation in armed struggle, drawing parallels to female fighters such as Vietnamese women and thereby placing the PFLOAG’s revolutionary women in the wider tradition of the revolutionary Third World. The periodical highlighted and documented women’s protest, arrests and mistreatment of women and girls by the British-backed regime, and women’s internationalist activities. Women’s representatives and delegations took part in many regional and international conferences, prior to and after the official establishment of the Omani Women’s Organisation in June 1975, a committee headed by Wafa Yasser.
The first official visit by an Omani women’s delegation, comprising Nadia Khaled and Huda Muhad, took place in July 1975 in a symposium on women’s economic development organised by the Soviet Women’s Committee in Alma-Ata, Soviet Republic of Kazakhstan. Following this trip to the Soviet Union, the delegation visited the Democratic Republic of Vietnam at the invitation of the Women’s Federation of Vietnam. 9 These encounters were important for producing strong ties of solidarity, the exchange of experiences and ideas, and direct engagement with a major source of their own inspiration, the Vietnamese people’s struggle. Most significantly, these material links demonstrate that Dhufar was not a detached revolution in a little-known and distant part of the Gulf, but one that was globally connected and which importantly placed emphasis on women’s political participation.

Summaries under the cut
Smile by Raina Telgemeier
Raina just wants to be a normal sixth grader. But one night after Girl Scouts she trips and falls, severely injuring her two front teeth, and what follows is a long and frustrating journey with on-again, off-again braces, surgery, embarrassing headgear, and even a retainer with fake teeth attached. And on top of all that, there’s still more to deal with: a major earthquake, boy confusion, and friends who turn out to be not so friendly. This coming-of-age true story is sure to resonate with anyone who has ever been in middle school, and especially those who have ever had a bit of their own dental drama.
Arc of a Scythe by Neal Shusterman
Thou shalt kill.
A world with no hunger, no disease, no war, no misery. Humanity has conquered all those things, and has even conquered death. Now scythes are the only ones who can end life—and they are commanded to do so, in order to keep the size of the population under control.
Citra and Rowan are chosen to apprentice to a scythe—a role that neither wants. These teens must master the “art” of taking life, knowing that the consequence of failure could mean losing their own.
Maximum Ride by James Patterson
Six unforgettable kids — with no families, no homes — are running for their lives. Max Ride and her best friends have the ability to fly. And that's just the beginning of their amazing powers. But they don't know where they come from, who's hunting them, why they are different from all other humans... and if they're meant to save mankind — or destroy it.
From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler by E. L. Konigsburg
When Claudia decided to run away, she planned very carefully. She would be gone just long enough to teach her parents a lesson in Claudia appreciation. And she would go in comfort - she would live at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. She saved her money, and she invited her brother Jamie to go, mostly because he was a miser and would have money.
Claudia was a good organizer and Jamie had some ideas, too; so the two took up residence at the museum right on schedule. But once the fun of settling in was over, Claudia had two unexpected problems: She felt just the same, and she wanted to feel different; and she found a statue at the Museum so beautiful she could not go home until she had discovered its maker, a question that baffled the experts, too.
The Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Grahame
For more than a century, The Wind in the Willows and its endearing protagonists—Mole, Water Rat, Badger, and, of course, the incorrigible Toad—have enchanted children of all ages. Whether the four friends are setting forth on an exciting adventure, engaging in a comic caper, or simply relaxing by the River Thames, their stories will surprise and captivate you.
Hailed as one of the most enduringly popular works of the twentieth century, this story is a classic of magical fancy and enchanting wit. Penned in lyrical prose, the adventures and misadventures of the book’s intrepid quartet of heroes raise fantasy to the level of myth. Gone by Michael Grant

Hunger threatens. Bullies rule. A sinister creature lurks. Animals are mutating. And the teens themselves are changing, developing new talents—unimaginable, dangerous, deadly powers—that grow stronger by the day. It's a terrifying new world. And time is running out: On your 15th birthday, you disappear just like everyone else...

you don’t hate Howard, you hate fatphobic tropes
Here at Mr Fart Powered Dot Com, I’m a long-time hater of the “fat best friend” trope and a long-time lover of jerkass characters, so I think I’m uniquely qualified to comment on this LOL
The biggest critiques I see of Howard are as follows: he’s gross, he’s stupid, he’s selfish, he’s lazy. Below the cut, I deconstruct each of these four criticisms not as faults of Howard, but faults of the writing, largely as a result of fatphobia.
These are all traits associated with the fat idiot trope, popularized by Homer Simpson and Peter Griffin. Think about any other character who possess all of the above characteristics. Far more often than not, they’re a fat character. Plenty of non-fat characters possess any of those traits individually — selfishness, stupidity, laziness, and grossness are not exclusive to fat characters. Nor do they inherently make a character 'bad,' irredeemable, or otherwise unlikeable! But all too often, especially in dated media, we see this flimsy, weak writing apply to the fat villain...or the fat comic relief...or the fat best friend.
Howard falls victim to these ugly, annoying 'fat guy' tropes whenever the writing is in need of a cheap laugh, or when they need to make Randy look extra good. Howard does have unique, interesting traits, but they are painfully underutilized in exchange for role fulfillment as the comic relief.
Stupidity
Contrary to what the show wants us to believe, Howard is not a complete idiot. His intelligence may not be of the academic variety (and even this is debatable), but I would argue he is more clever than Randy. Of the two of them, Howard's got more common sense. Randy misinterprets almost every lesson the Nomicon gives him, while H quickly understands each riddle he gets the chance to know about. (See “a ninja’s choice must be chosen by his own choosing,” “don’t go in someone else’s house,” “when facing an unfamiliar foe, seek an unlikely ally.”)
You could argue against this point in Shloomp! There It Is, where he literally gets to see the lesson as it is presented in the nomicon and doesn’t get it. But I’d argue that this was  purposeful mischaracterization in order to further the plot, a point which will unfortunately recur in this essay. The writers care more about Howard as a tool than as a character, but instead of using the capabilities they build within him, they default to stereotypes.
Where conventional academics are concerned, we have one concrete example of his abilities: Howard is incredible at chess. It’s the iconic nerd game; it requires strategy, careful thinking, and the ability to predict your opponent’s moves. Who cares that he doesn't know the pieces' names? Who cares that he doesn’t abide by typical strategies? He can kick artificially-intelligent ass at the game, not to mention follow someone else's plays the way most people follow a football game.
And he's got street smarts that save Randy's ass on multiple occasions. He's more sociable, a better liar, and a quick thinker in stressful situations. Much of this particular point is pulled from @cunningweiner ‘s brain, who pointed out that Howard is really well-received by crowds (Heidi’s MeCast, the talent show, the Tummynator). Another interesting instance of this is Howard’s time as the Ninja — both the fake monster drill ninja, and the actual Ninja. He may not have accomplished his duties as a hero, but the onlookers Absolutely Ate Up his crowd work. He’s not the most physically willing guy around, but he knows how to appeal to an audience. His major flaw in remaining a well-liked public figure is that his ego gets real damn big, real damn fast. But he’s 15! If you blame a teenager for having empathy and esteem issues, I don’t know what to tell you.
Despite his emotional immaturity, Howard is wise beyond his years as a businessman. Before we move forward, I need to tell you: look at this section purely from a business standpoint. You have to forget morals, you have to forget standards, this is Disney XD meta and we are analyzing a man named Weiner, okay?
Okay. Howard embarks on a total of three business endeavors throughout this show, and each one is highly successful. Ninja Agent, weapon reseller, and McFist-o-plex manager. He embodied “work smarter, not harder” every time. Being an agent takes social skill and smooth talking, and clearly he appealed to a wide range of clients (not to mention earned their trust! What would you say if someone called you up and said “yeah, I manage Superman. Want him to appear in a commercial for you?”). Being a manager requires delegation skills and good memory. Reselling Ninja weapons is honestly just genius and I can’t believe he’s the first guy to do it.
Everyone around Howard, and Big H himself, views him as a dumbass. But time and time again, the episodes show us his mental capabilities! Imagine how much fun the writers could’ve had if they’d leaned on a lazy genius trope instead of a fat idiot.
Grossness
I don’t know about you guys, but I can’t think of a single thin character who relies on gross-out humor. Take, for example, Total Drama, a franchise with a bodily diverse cast and a heavy emphasis on gross-out humor. I mean, there’s an entire episode in the original season where every single character pukes onscreen. TD overall utilizes irreverent humor, but while grossness is a major player, it is not the only source of comedy.
And then you’ve got Owen, the only fat character in the original cast. His whole shtick is being fat, greedy, and nasty. Other characters will fart and burp and overeat — all things that Owen does frequently — but they also have other gags. Maybe they’re bitchy, or they’re geeky, or they’re a literal convict. Owen does not enjoy the luxury of character depth. He is only good for grossing out the audience. (Side tangent: Owen has notably made me laugh out loud a handful of times over the course of the four seasons he featured in. But guess what! Every single one of those laughs was begotten from a rare moment when, instead of farting or burping or eating something he shouldn’t, the writers stepped outside the ‘Owen zone’ and gave him a joke unrelated to his fatness. Fatphobic humor is truly a plague.)
I know I’m being a bit heavy-handed, but I want to emphasize how similar that is to RC9GN! Randy does schnasty shit too sometimes, but he gets to be funny in other ways. Grossness is Howard’s primary mode of comedy. During my first watch-through of the show, I remember being outraged at Howard’s tendency to eat Randy’s food, which, of course, was followed by digestion noises or farts. I was too angry to write down which episodes, but I counted four separate instances where they used that exact convention specifically to get Randy angry at Howard, thus catalyzing the episode’s storyline. (At some point I will have to go back and fact-check that, but we’re 900 words deep at this point and this has been in my drafts for over a month, so we move forward for now okay!!)
 We do get to see flashes of other humor from Howard, especially into Season 2! His cleverness and apathy make for hilarious setups. But even these instances are undercut by something foul. An example that comes to mind is Fear Factor, a perfectly fine episode — one that I love quite a lot — except for the very last gag. Really? Howard gets to be normal-funny the entire episode, until the last minute? The idea that his biggest fear is running out of food literally only works because he is fat. Had this joke been given to any other character, it probably wouldn’t have even made it to storyboards. Even worse, if Howard had not been fat, this joke would never have been conceptualized in the first place. It is almost as if the writers are trying to hit a quota of gross-out jokes for Howard. At a certain point, my anger morphed to pure disappointment. That’s how disheartening it is to see.
Selfishness
Okay, Howard Weinerman is selfish. I'll give you that. But just because he's self-centered does not make him a bad person. May I bring to mind Gumball Watterson, Marcy Wu, Louise Belcher? All are textbook examples of selfish characters, and frequently act in their own best interest, but are ultimately good people. I mention them as proof that characters can have negative defining traits without sacrificing the audience’s sympathy.
Here's where I really get frustrated with RC9GN’s writing... They want to portray Howard as a jerk with a heart of gold — such as in Debbie Meddle — but they always undercut his few selfless moments with a gross-out gag, or a rude offhand comment, usually directed at Randy. Sometimes, Randy will reciprocate, in which case I give it a pass. There, the grossness or general assholery showcases their friendship, instead of putting Howard down for a stale laugh.
But like I said, that’s the ‘sometimes.’ The ‘often’ is every time we see him almost embody the ‘heart of gold’ part of his attempted archetype, only to be thrown out the window for a lame gag. A specific example is in “Bro Money Bro Problems,” where Howard has cash to spare for once. He immediately opts to spend it on Randy!….until Randy shloomps into the nomicon, then comes out to find that Howard spent everything he had on the Food Hole’s dinner menu. Sure, this was used to set the rest of the episode in motion. They run out of money, but they need more, so they go out and sell ninja weapons. But here’s the thing: for the rest of the episode, Howard spends his money on both him and Randy, rather than just himself, effectively making that dinner menu joke inconsistent with his characterization.
“Well how else would they set the episode in motion?” They could spend it all on arcade games. Or they spend it all at the boardwalk both times. OR, they are just excitable teenagers who realize, hey, this shit is lucrative! Let’s go get rich! Boom. Fixed your episode, fixed your Howard, fixed your fatphobia.
Laziness
Over and over again, the show tries to tell us that Howard is a lazy piece of shit. Other characters regard him as such, and honestly, so does Howard himself. But I would argue that he is no lazier than your average teenager — not to mention, no lazier than Randy! The difference is that for Howard, the writers intertwine his laziness with his alleged stupidity. They try to convince the audience that Howard is too stupid to care what’s going on.
However, this trait is unique from the other three, because I think this one manages to give him depth. Or at least, in my heart of hearts, it has the potential to do so. This characteristic lends to Howard’s most clever jokes, I think, because ultimately:
Howard is capable, but apathetic.
From the earliest episodes, it is established that he aims for minimum effort, maximum benefit. There’s the bit where Randy asks Howard to come up with the plan for once, and they both laugh at the idea of Howard doing the heavy lifting. Or even all the way into “Mort-al Kombat,” he says people are ‘really handing him the answers today’ when Randy puts in the work to get Howard ungrounded.
But just because Howard prefers not to do any work, doesn’t mean he won’t! And when he does put in effort, the results show that he is damn good at what he does. His time as Le Beret more than proves this point: from his ability to work under the radar, to the plans he forms, to the knowledge he has about Mort’s job & McFist Industries that allows him to get all the cool equipment he uses. We also see his skills and capability in “Debbie Meddle” (the ninja dummy), “Viva El Nomicon” (learning Spanish quickly), “Secret Stache” (commitment to the bit), “The Ninja Identity/Supremacy,” and more.
He very much operates under the mindset of ‘work smarter, not harder.’ He’ll get the job done if he has to. He’ll excel at the job if it benefits him. This is a really interesting character mechanic that would have been so much fun to explore. Like I said so many times above, though, the writers most often choose to undercut his abilities in favor of comedic expense.
Conclusion
Howard, in comparison to Randy, is obviously a lot harder to root for. Overall, Randy is a more conventional character with conventional flaws. Like most duos in media, the sidekick juxtaposes the hero — I would even argue that Howard, in some ways, is Randy in reverse. Randy is highly moral, but still has a lot of learning to do skill-wise; Howard is already extremely capable, but also very amoral. Because of this, the narrative places Randy at a higher value than Howard — which, yknow, fair enough! He is the protag, and that’s a great setup for a protagonist. But simply by virtue of being fat, Howard is not treated with the same level of respect as other sidekick/best friend characters.
For all his quirks and flaws, Howard is not a supremely unique character. His basic core aligns with so many other characters. But because the writers lean on his fatness, instead of leaning into his potential and his complexities, it is much harder to root for him — and it strips him of originality. I love this show with all my heart, but I would be lying if I said I didn’t mind the way it treated Howard. He had so much potential, even as the show was airing, and I will forever be upset that the crew squandered it on fatphobic tropes.

My opinions bc I like to yap
Im SO glad tumblr is not full of fucking misinformation like the TH fandom on tiktok
I legitimately lose brain cells at the comment sections and some posts about Tokio hotel
-“Tom cried in the bathroom for 4 hours because girls made fun of his braids!!” WHO THE FUCK SAID THAT
-“Bill is straight” …. Bill is technically unlabeled but has a current preference for men (and honestly I don’t think he has any interest towards women maybe in the past)
-when they only believe information that was given in interviews pre 2012… girl .. THEY WERE TEENAGERS BACK THEN, not to mention the fact that they were heavily monitored by producers who wanted them to act out and fit a certain role
- girls who hate Heidi for the sole reason that she has “their man”, trust me I get there’s lots of other valid reasons to dislike Heidi, the way she’s treated contestants on GNTM, the whole alleged Epstein island stuff etc.
-when they can’t tell that a photo is photoshopped, maybe this is mean but are they fucking DUMB!?!? It’s usually the younger generations (not to bash you guys who are actually intelligent and have eyes) but I see photos that are so painfully obviously fucking photoshopped and a dumbass is in the comments like “omg is this real!?!?” NO DIPSHIT CAN YOU NOT SEE THE FAKE ASS LINE WHERE THE HEAD IS PHOTOSHOPPED ONTO A BODY
In continuation of this topic when fans think that an outline in their pants or a shadow is their penis.. be for real right now.. it’ll be a big ass fucking out line or Tom’s balls or some shit and someone will comment “omg his pp so big hehe” or some stupid shit it’s not his penis you dumb fuck most men are like 2-3 inches soft maybe 4 max and even soft you wouldn’t be able to tell how big it is at full hardness
Anyway
I think that’s it for now love you bye!! <3

M O R D L U S T ; september 22nd, 2024
finally getting around to doing these more often now that i'm making money moves in the draft (this is a lie, i am making moves into my friends' dms to scream) so that means i have an excuse to make self-indulgent WIP edits.
my primary protagonist vératre, formerly known as voir, has been made sufficiently weird, and i think i've found a way to smoothly integrate all of the new scenes i added when i reformatted her half of the plot.
i've also been in my overthinking era to make sure that everything from color symbolism, animal motifs, to the specific variations of words characters use has a purpose. 90% of it will not be apparent in the actual draft so, to paraphrase myself, i'm like gay sisyphus opening and closing notion.
but, i do plan on making some character aesthetic intros, tv show edits, and finally getting around to that animal symbolism post 🐯
transcript below the cut:
Pale blue light flooded into the crate as the lid was pried off, then abruptly overturned, sending Aleksander tumbling out between a set of familiar armchairs. His attention traveled up the front of a familiar desk and landed at an unsmiling familiar face.  Sitting quietly on the other side of the desk was Lady Kos, regal as a queen and ten times wealthier, with pearl droplets woven into her dark braids, dressed in chiffon and lace from trailing hem to high, starched collar.  She was melting wax, her movements swift and assured as she poured a small pool onto the folds of an envelope and stamped it with a sigil Aleksander knew to dread. She took a sip of riesling, soundlessly replacing her glass onto the wood, before setting her sights on him.  “Herr Aleksander Fox,” she said at last.
and since i haven't done this in like 4 years, surprise bitch. i'm doing a novel prep tag in here now.
Tumblr media
first look ;
describe your novel in 1-2 sentences (elevator pitch) ;
a businessman-turned-thief finds himself entangled with a pair of opposing assassins and the roles they unknowingly play in a much grander conspiracy.
how long do you plan for your novel to be (novella, standalone, series, etc.)? ;
a standalone, thank god. the technically term would be roman fleuve, since i am planning future standalone works that take place within the same universe.
what is your novel’s aesthetic? ;
ancient buildings overtaken by nature, cemeteries at midnight, poisonous flowers, venomous snakes, whispering in shadowy alcoves, masquerade balls, bloodstained feathers, veiled truths
what other stories inspire your novel? ;
the his dark materials series by philip pullman, uprooted by naomi novik, classic gothic lit, fairy tales in general, and uh,,,,,,,exodus.
share 3+ images that give a feel for your novel ;
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
main character ;
who is your protagonist? ;
my two main protagonists/POVs are liferuiner and wannabe businessman aleksander fox, and vératre, a notorious poisoner struggling her way through a quarter-life crisis.
who is their closest ally? ;
aleksander's closest ally, at least in the beginning, is his friend heidi, an information broker with a secret :) and vératre begrudgingly accepts the help of salicaire, another assassin, since they are both nosy and want answers.
who is their enemy? ;
aleksander vs. the ospirin family (a fight he is nawt winning) and the church
what do they want more than anything? ;
so, to be cryptic, 3/4 of the leads in mordlust are all reflections of each other, what they could have been and what they want to be. the last of them is the mirror. they see in him what they want to see. and what they want, shockingly, is prestige, power, belonging, etc. they've always felt like strangers in their own skin and will go to terrible lengths to fit themselves into a society that was not made for them.
why can’t they have it? ;
dirty dirty politics for which they are mere pawns ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
what do they wrongly believe about themselves? ;
that because they've been hurt, they are justified in hurting others in pursuit of their goals.
draw your protagonist! (or share a description) ;
aleksander is a classic dandy with a hyperfixation on his vintage fox fur coat, which he wears even when it's wildly out of season and out of fashion because it's the nicest thing he owns. he's also usually seen wearing kid leather gloves and a golden cravat pin he received from his patroness. he's got green eyes, short auburn hair, lots of freckles, and more people would find him handsome if he didn't smile like he knew your fly was down and was refusing to tell you.
vératre's lips are stained purple due to. reasons. and so she wears a veil, which is not uncommon for particularly devout women. she has medium length brown hair she keeps pinned up into tight plaits and a notably long neck. also, she has pretty privilege because shits fucked and having attractive lay servants representing the house/church is common practice. since she works as a kitchen maid most of the week, she's often wearing her uniform w/ an apron. and sometimes she wears isme's black feathered cloak.
drawing wise, i do have this chart, courtesy of alex @bitethebard:
Tumblr media
plot points ;
what is the internal conflict? ;
aleksander and vératre, being parallels of each other, have somewhat similar internal conflicts. they both came from nameless villages out in the countryside and share a burning desire to be more. in vératre's case it's v much a "be careful what you wish for" situation, because in receiving everything she thought she wanted she's no longer herself and unhappier than ever. aleksander is younger and earlier along in his journey, but barreling down the same path. except the choices he makes fucks shit up for the people around him more than they effect himself.
what is the external conflict? ;
again, cutthroat politics (literally). everyone has something they'd kill for.
what is the worst thing that could happen to your protagonist? ;
other than dying horribly, probably being tethered to an uncaring master, praying to uncaring gods, and trying to find comfort in an uncaring church for the rest of their miserable lives.
what secret will be revealed that changes the course of the story? ;
aleksander is entangled in a pseudo-liar revealed plot, which i kinda hate, but as an extremely unreliable narrator his priorities are not in proper order... vératre is witnessing the horrors.
do you know how it ends? ;
yeah
bits & bobs ;
what is the theme? ;
blind faith is dangerous. you must learn to take responsibility for both the good and the bad actions you take, and attaching yourself to someone or something at random to validate your own existence isn't healthy. holiness exists not only in gods but in small moments of happiness and in the people we love. and lastly don't fucking steal someone's skin and sell it on the black market.
what is a recurring symbol? ;
thorns.
where is the story set? (share a description!) ;
niederbrinn, the capital city of falkenreik, which is loosely inspired by pre-german empire prussia. it's filled with tons of gothic™ architecture and fun locations like cathedrals, catacombs, and creature shops. it's situated closer to the malevolent eldritch forest than most would like.
do you have any images or scenes in your mind already? ;
hell yeah
what excited you about this story? ;
mostly isme. and then the other 3 protags ig 🙄
tell us about your usual writing method! ;
these days, i usually write a rough outline and expand it using the snowflake method, incorporating ideas, themes, and worldbuilding along the way. then i make a proper outline where i figure out chapters, acts, the dreaded midpoint, etc. i don't write in chronological order so this helps a ton with out-of-context lines since i have a reference for where i want them based on the location/emotional state of the characters. getting myself to actually sit down and WRITE the damn thing is the problem, shout out to my fellow procrastinating perfectionists <33
if you made it to this point you are sexy and i love you, byeeee !!

Note
I wonder how different Ian would’ve ended up if he(?) didn’t get so well known so young. Being put under a microscope at a young age in a time where the internet was an even less nice place, especially towards the lgbt+ community. It sure would stop just about anyone from doing any kind of exploration
The movie, Heidi’s comment, Pam’s drawing, his own joy when playing female roles.
(Also i don’t remember who’s account i saw it on that someone made an ask about lws with Amanda and Anthony staring him down when they’re talking about lacey bras and people being like “what’s the story there” but that plus Pam’s drawing? Bruv i think there might be a story there LOL)
I wanted to make a short summary of all the mentioned things+ a little edit about Ian feeling gender. Honestly i don't wanna assume or speculate anything but he does give very egg. Idk how different everything would be if he was not famous so young and so long. And it is so hard to come out especially if it is gender related, especially when he's coming from a time where this was so not welcomed. They talked about getting bullied about being gay, Ian talked about personally how the slurs affected him and how he felt so bad people use these slurs, not because he doesn't like people calling him gay or gay slurs but because they're using that slurs as a weapon. If they were gen z, if they come from a more accepting place wonder how different things would have been.
This is Pam's (Ian's ex) drawing of Ian that he keeps on his fridge. It is seen she draws him in a bra and writes "totes a dude". (Side note Pam is bi and thought she was a lesbian for a while)
Tumblr media
This is the movie Ian watched last night about a closeted queer person.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Which could mean nothing.
