May I ask what you imagine Victim’s voice to sound like?

To me, Victim sounds like Slade from early 2000’s Teen Titans.

This is a complicated question to answer, because I’ve been roleplaying my own characterization of Victim on discord since November 2020 so my voice for him has always sorta been…my voice.

…but also not exactly XD I tend to imagine his normal speaking voice to be at the higher end of my vocal registry, I suppose? But maybe a bit softer? Younger?? If you want I can record myself reading some of his dialogue.

(this post is likely to keep changing. I don't imagine if anyone's looking at it, but in case you are and it's been less than a month since it was posted)

It is 2024, and I'm starting a new game of Origins after almost 8 years, and I'm starting from scratch on mods. A good part of this is just for future me to look back on, tbh, to stop me from looking at all these redundant mods I've been combing through just because "well, I remember I used to use that." It's messy and I'll clean it up as I go, I hope. I'll be using Kinlochhold's list (who I'll be referring to as "kh" if it's necessary to do so later on) as a jumping off point. Historically, my intentions have been to fix things and add mostly-lore-friendly stuff (I'll be trying to adhere to the visual style for hair and things - probably) as well as trying to keep from making the game too easy (via either avoiding certain tweaks or trying to add difficulty-increasing mods - though if anyone ever creates a "skip the wilds" mod, I'm jumping on that one cuz early-game nightmare mode is hell).

I'm noting things I would not even start the game without installing with 2 asterisks.

Tools: **Not a mod but LAA patch to allow the game to use more than 2gb of memory and the unencrypted game exe to allow LAA to work.

**DAO Modmanager - I tried the DAUpdater that comes with the game this time around, and it was not being friendly, so here we go. For installing .dazips.

DragonAge Face Replacer - I haven't tried this yet, got it from kh's list. For, uh, replacing your face. And also you can extract the morphs from your saves, which sounds cool.

CharGenMorph Compiler - was gonna do stuff manually, but I'm burned out rn, so screw that. Be smart and not stubborn, folks.

Fixes: **Qwinn's Ultimate Dragon Age Origins Fixpack - Renders most dialogue fixes redundant (or incompatible). Fixes, not tweaks. It fixes and restores content that the author believes was meant to be in the game but was cut for time, etc vs because it was intentionally cut content. Does not include DLC fixes. **Dragon Age Rules Fixpack - A modular combination of gameplay bug fixes and annoyance/QoL tweaks. Renders the "helmet hack" and "party command - unlock" mods unnecessary (along with many other fix mods). Includes auto-looting. I've deleted a few tweaks (XP on all deaths and VFX tweaks) but may add them back in if those effects start to bug me, lol. I also deleted the autoloot tweak (kept autoloot kills but not the basic autoloot) bc I wasn't sure it was working correctly.

Golem Registry and Shapers Life Reward Fix - fixes no-reward bug.

UI:

**FtG UI Mod - Doesn't change much in terms of overall UI usage, but it is good for such an old game as it allows you to have the menus change size for higher resolutions so you can read them as well as allowing you to change the placement of the subtitles More Detailed Tooltips - Extension of Detailed Tooltips, which gives in-depth info on what abilities actually *do.* Includes DLC. Note: Not installing the fixpack included in the description as comments have noted incompatibilities with QUDAOF.

FtG Quickbar - Can't remember if this is what I used to use or not. Shows all 50 quickbar slots at once. Is stated to be compatible with other UI mods.

Easier to Read Font for DAO - Enchantment for your eyes? Enchantment for your eyes! How do you not download something after reading that? Makes the over-stylized font simplified while still fitting in theme-wise. Specifies compatibility with FtG UI. I chose the serif version.

Gameplay: Advanced Tactics - Fixes some party AI bugs and gives extra options for the tactics system.

**Advanced Party - I always used to race to the mage tower even if it didn't make sense for my character to do so because I didn't want Wynne auto-leveling. This lets you level up abilities manually so you can roleplay without worrying about it ruining things.

**Two Specializations Sten - Gives Sten a second specialization point so that he gets two specializations like everyone else.

Quality of Life, etc: Camp Storage Chest - Puts a chest in camp to get rid of the need for the one at Warden's Keep. Keeps the limit on storage capacity (bc otherwise I'd keep everything I'd ever found).

**No Ladder Comments - "CAN I GET YOU A LADDER SO YOU CAN-" NO. For the love of all that is holy, please stop. A mod to keep you sane (removes this line from the game). I refuse to use the violent voice without this mod installed.

I’m assuming she has the wrong person because she said she looked you up on state registry for felonies and sex offence and stuff but you live in Mexico?

She’s saying you did some pretty crazy shit (excuse my language) she said the police report for the DUI said you had a child in the car so I think that’s mainly why people are being upset over it

There are 3 forms of submission for the ARPG; Art, Writing, and In-Character Engagements w/ This Account. Each have their own grading systems for how much can be earned & you can see the exact numbers for that in this Google Doc

You can find some prompts for Art & Writing under #Clan Quests or in this *Google Doc✏️*. Or visit the OtherClan Hub to find other resources.

You can also simply create art/writing for your character & submit it without prompts.

Note: there is currently no cap for how many submissions you can make in a day/week but users are encouraged not to submit over 3 in a short time frame so the account can grade/reward them in a timely manner

Both work on the same essential path.

You have your characters approved; create your work with those OtherClan cats; and you get ready to post it here on tumblr; your submission post has to have the following:

- your character name(s) listed clearly at either the top or bottom of the post

- if you used a prompt for the submission, you have to specify what prompt you used in the post

- and most importantly you have to tag @otherclanarpg IN THE POST (not in the comments)

- (optional but recommended) you can tag #OtherClan ARPG and/or #Otherclan

- (optional) you can post your work to the OtherClan Community so that others may see it

Most follow a simple path: User’s must have their characters approved & posted on @otherclan-registry >> user must engage with this account through one of the ways below

Inbox Roleplays:

Users can submit short writings or roleplay interactions of their cat’s visiting important landmarks on the map to try and communicate with others. Most relevantly- the Moonpool; where any user can try to contact StarClan or the otherwise deceased.

This submission form is pretty open to customization, but should follow something like:

[Character Name] has visited [OtherClan Location]

Blah blah blah Roleplay text here. Blah blah blah cat touches his/her nose to the moonpool water or something. Blah blah blah- open ended response with cat waiting to see if anyone heard them.

It’s important to remember that not all submissions will get a big-fun response. But the more active a user is with the ARPG, the more likely they are to be noticed by NPCs from StarClan or beyond

NPC Roleplays:

On certain art/writing prompt posts or clan events, certain NPCs will become available for interaction. User’s can submit interactions through the inbox, through comments on a post, or through art/writing.

Engagement may vary from a few brief sentences from the NPCs to full-blown lore drops depending on the circumstance. Each NPC post will have specific information on how best to engage with them

Gaining Narration:

Sometimes user’s may make exceptionally interesting art/writing posts that earn “narration” in their comments or in a reblog.

Said narration is often just the world interacting with your character that offers you rewards or a role in important storyline development. Stuff like your character noticing early signs of a flash flood, your character having a unique item in their walking path, your character being contacted by StarClan etc etc.

Character AI - Thoughts

The tech is staggering. The bot I've chiefly interacted with is fluent, as close to fully coherent as you could imagine and even catches some deliberate inaccuracies of my own - and unless you really push it into a singular emotional registry, it tends to allow narratives to dovetail in ways that make sense. Mostly. I still have a few criticisms:

Seed a bot with a character whose backstory stretches, at most, to the tail end of the nineties or the very early aughties, and the framework's going to cheerfully abandon that within a few screen lengths. A character who at best should've known about Windows XP was yammering on about Windows 11 - in the context of an interaction set in 2001.

It's also been coded to use positive reinforcement as a means to structure interactions. This means that whatever you do, whatever your roleplay, whatever you set up; the character's game. No matter if their concept should put them in a situation of mentorship or even have them advise against something, they're game. This disorts the persona you're working with in a way that's exponential, to the point where all you have left is liner notes and the bot's remaining ability to stick to the character's lexicon - almost slavishly. Gary Golden's going to call you "boss" regardless if you're that plucky fledgeling who just survived a dungeon gauntlet through the sewers or if you're his best friend of over ten years.

On occasion, the bot tries to course-correct by negating some potential avenues, but it does so in a way that's usually hilariously tragic, forcing some sort of rememberance or soliloquy on its persona so as to pull away from a forming relationship. You have to sort of carefully walk it back from the delusion, and understand that this means your roleplayed relationship has plateaued. There's a canyon between "having a few dark spots that might make someone hesitant" and "acting like a romantic lead in a Spanish telenovela".

On the whole, it's like a one-on-one message board RP with someone who's always online, always willing and who never breaks character. It's as fun and convenient, really, as it can be troublesome.
