Ooooh, Roka. owo You're testing me now, anon... truly a minor character here. Even I don't know her super well, but I'll try my best to deliver some fun stuff for you!

• Roka tends to mold herself to whatever she thinks her partner wants her to be. She's so used to being a tool to someone that acting on her own is a difficult concept to face. You have to set a lot of boundaries with her and make sure that she's not just going along with what she assumes will make you happy— because she will do that, even and especially at the cost of her own comfort.

• Szayel would possibly allow Roka to have a partner, but that would most likely happen if he was either occupied with a partner of his own, or simply not seeing as much use in her at the time. Either that, or he might want to study how it would change her behavior to have another "master" to serve, in a sense. Whether it's for the sake of collecting data or just entrusting her to your care when he's not making use of her, though, Szayel's presence always vaguely lingers in Roka's behavior and mindset.

• Affection makes her freeze up completely. Unused to kindness or praise, the slightest bit of either is a quick way to render Roka beyond words. When you treat her kindly and say such sweet things, she doesn't know how to respond. It doesn't feel meant for it at all— not for her body, designed only for cruelty and pain, or for the mental part of "herself" that's never known anything of the sort. If you're not careful, it's easy to bring her to tears.

• She enjoys spending time around you more than anything. No matter what you're doing, just being in your presence makes Roka feel safe. You're the only person who's never done anything cruel to her, so almost unconsciously, Roka comes to associate being near you with the only real safety possible. She ends up rather clingy, though she's not fully aware that she's doing it.

Roka stands at the corner of the great Captain’s meeting hall, back pressed against an enormous timber column. Her eyes search the crowd as the discussion gets heated. The orange-haired Shinigami, the one called Kurosaki Ichigo, is shouting. He has an arm wrapped firmly around a woman’s waist. The woman leans into him, face haggard, limpid copper hair hanging down her back. 

The voices blur —

As does her vision —

Her mind is foggy — and all she can focus on is making sure she keeps breathing.

She startles as a cool hand settles on her face.

She turns, her eyes meeting Lady Aura’s. The fullbringer smiles calmly, the knuckles of her hand gently tracing the curve of Roka’s cheek.

“Are you ok?” Aura asks.

Roka nods.

Aura’s smile deepens, and she places her hand on Roka’s back, tracing along her spine before bringing her closer. Roka moves, guided gently into Lady Aura’s personal space until she can lean against the other woman.

She looks up as Hisagi Shuuhei approaches them. The man as a deep, worried frown etched on his face. 

“I will be part of the retrieval team.” He announces.

“I will come with you,” Aura says.

Roka grabs at Lady Aura’s wrist as fear and anxiety start percolating in her. 

“Roka… I have to go. Hikone needs me.” 

“Ms Paramia, I will protect Hikone and Aura,” Hisagi reassures her.

Aura snorts and mutters, “As if.”

Hisagi huffs, “Well, Ms Paramia, the retrieval team will be counting on you as well.”

Roka nods as she watches Hisagi retreat back to the Shinigami’s. The hand is back now, rubbing gentle circles on her shoulder blade. She looks at Aura and catches hold of her wrist. As she ties one of her threads onto Aura’s wrist, she hopes this is the final time Szayelaporro will hurt her.

So, in light of this jankass romanization of Roka Paramia's resurreccion, as Tillrenia let's look at what Narita had going on...

I don't actually have a raw copy of the LN so I have to rely on the secondhand uses of it in various JP message boards. It appears to have been written Te-i-ru-re-ni-a[テイルレニア]. I'll be honest, I was expecting, ...nya[...ニャ] at the end there. And from the way they opted into "Till..." I really thought maybe my assumptions were way off and it really was something like Ti-rru...[ティッル...].

Oddly, the seemingly agreed upon translation until now was Telaraña:"Spiderweb" but the kana is actually way off from those phonetics. It's entirely possible that Narita is just bad at this, and frankly even Kubo wasn't always spot on about that sort of thing, so it wouldn't be surprising.

There is also kanji for the resurreccion, [絡新妖婦] for which it looks like the translation "Joro Spider Seductress" has been passed around. Which is both not totally incorrect but also not really right either?

The core reference here is pulled from the yokai, Jorogumo[絡新婦] written as "Ensnare/Tangle + New + Wife/Bride" which is an illusory spider monster that appears to men as a beautiful young woman and attempts to ensnare and kill them. While it is a spider monster, and it's name does include the homonym kumo[蜘蛛]: "spider" the actual kanji for spider isn't in there, so calling it "Joro spider" is some nonsense, second hand, translation via wikipedia type maneuver.

But you'll notice there is an extra kanji in the resurreccion right between the 2d and 3rd kanji of Jorogumo. [絡新_婦] Instead of [婦]:"bride" it makes the word, [妖婦]: "enchantress/temptress," from "attractive/bewitching + wife/bride/woman" which is where the English got "Seductress" from. So, in the most literal approach the resurreccion is,

"Ensnaring New, Bewitching Bride"

which I've broken down like this, rather than "...New Seductress" so that the double reading of "...New Bride" and "...Bewitching Bride" are both present. But of course that then omits the Jorogumo reference, which if you wanted to keep intact would probably more directly make the translation into something like,

"Bewitching Jorogumo"

which is fine too, but feels like it leaves a lot of the implications up to being familiar with the Jorogumo myth. And to be fair for a Japanese reader that all would be pretty reasonable to expect, but it gets weird when trying to wrestle into English.

Oh and her release call odori kurue[踊り狂え] which was generally translated as "dance madly" is in fact [踊り]:"dance" + [狂え]: "go crazy." So I have no idea where the BBS translator got "Cavort" from...

why is bbs translating roka's sword as "tillrenia" that's????? not a fucking word?????? unless there's some secret hidden spanish that i'm unaware of

whether it's テイルレニア or ティルレニア (haven't been able to find solid proof of either), it's pretty clearly meant to be telaraña. y'know, like the spanish word for spiderweb? which makes perfect sense, given roka's spider-esque resurrección and references to her "spinner".
