CURRENT MORNING SKINCARE ROUTINE & SKINCARE UPDATE | RODIAL, FRESH, BEA SKINCARE | byalicexo
today on the channel i’m sharing my current morning skincare routine as well as an update on a couple of products i’ve been using recently.
a couple of videos back i talked about how i wouldn’t be buying skincare for the remainder of the year because of all the products i own and haven’t used. as such, my morning skincare routine has been changing every couple of days, as i try to make my way through all of my skincare products. it’s been very exciting (re)discovering products and seeing how much my skin is loving them.
regarding product updates, i’ve been using the rodial skincare bee venom super serum and the bea skincare solar defence mineral sunscreen and omg, these two products are absolutely amazing. in terms of the serum, this serum has worked wonders in making my face feel sleek and smooth. this is a serum i’ll definitely be considering once my skincare ban is over because i’d love to see the effects of this on my long term skin goals. now, in terms of the bea skincare sunscreen, this is THE sunscreen to try if you love mineral sunscreen (or if you’re curious about mineral sunscreens). want to find out more? make sure you watch until the end.
i hope you enjoy the video. don’t forget to like, comment, SUBSCRIBE (turn on your notifications) and share with your friends. and in the meantime, i’ll catch you in the next one!

Chic Mama LA Is All About Rodial Bee Venom Serum
I am so obsessed with Rodial’s Bee Venom Super Serum. It is so good ladies. Within weeks I saw the fine lines disappear and my skin seemed much tighter. The Bee Venom and unique complex of plant stem cell corrected my skin tone too. There is even Marine Collegen 6 to enhance my skin’s elasticity. Everything I want for my skin is in this one bottle. It’s on the pricier side, but well worth every penny. I’m telling you girls, I love it. Order today.

My Current Skincare Routine
Two years ago I made a resolution to take better care of my skin. For the first two months of the year I stuck to my anti-aging skincare routine. I’d seen results after the first two weeks and it encouraged me to keep going. The problem was that I pretty much stopped after two months. Yep – failed. Sure, I still did the occasional scrub and moisturized every few days, but my daily routine fell by the wayside as life got busier. I kept saying to myself that I had to get back on track, and for a few weeks here and there I’d discover a new product and take better care of my skin again. Before long, though, I’d inevitably fall out of the routine again.
2018 had flashes of hope. My oily skin over the summer led me to a great Lab Series product (this one) that was so good I used it all season long. Alas, summer ended, my oily skin went away, and with it, my skincare routine did too.
So here we are in the first week of 2019 and I’m a six weeks into a new anti-aging skincare routine (yay, I’m celebrating each small win!). 2018 was an incredible year but the long days (and nights!), and countless flights definitely took their toll on my skin. By November I decided enough was enough: only I had the power to look after my skin so I pulled together a new anti-aging skincare routine, and I’ve been following my anti-aging skin routine since. I’ve been so impressed by the results that I felt inspired to share my current routine with you guys. Sure, I’ll switch out some products throughout the year (my skin goes from combination-dry in winter to combination-oily in summer) but this is what is working for me right now.My Twice Daily Routine
Step 1 | Cleanse | Rodial Bee Venom Cleansing Balm & Verso Foaming Cleanser I like to alternate my cleanser every other day so that my skin gets a varied clean. I apply the Bee Venom cleansing balm to dry skin, rubbing a thumb sized amount all over my face for 30 seconds or so. Then, I use a spray bottle to spritz my face with water to create turn the balm into a milky texture. Then I clean all over my face with a Luna by Foreo. When I use Verso’s cleanser I start with wet skin and go straight to using the Luna. I like them both because they don’t dry out my skin at all.
Step 2 | Tone | Men Science Advanced Face Tonic I apply his toner from a cotton pad and gently rub it all over my face and it definitely helps to clear our the build up on my skin, especially around the t-zone.
Step 3 | Serum | Dr. Sebagh Serum Repair & Sisleÿa L’Integral Anti-Age Firming Concentrated Serum OK so the Dr. Sebagh serum is a product I was using two years ago and I loved it, so when I started up my daily anti-aging skincare routine a month ago I immediately started using it again. Every time I use it I can feel the hyaluronic acid firming and lifting my skin – it’s so, so good! A friend of mine works in the beauty space and very generously gifted me the Sisleÿa serum so I’ve been using it since Christmas. It’s a wonderful product but I saw the same effect with the Dr. Sebagh product, which is significantly lower in price, so I think once it’s finished I’ll stick with my original fav. We’ll see!
Step 4 | Daily SPF | Kiehls Daily SPF To be honest I wish I had included an SPF as part of my year-round daily skincare routine sooner. Any readers in their twenties – start using it now, trust me; the sun is so aging to your skin. I love this Kiehls product because it’s not greasy and doesn’t sit heavy on the skin like ‘traditional’ sunscreen.
Step 5 | Moisturize | Sisleÿum For Men Anti-Age Global Revitalizer This moisturizer is super light, smells great and leaves my skin looking radiant and smooth. Love! I apply it via small dots across my face and neck and massage it in by making small upward circles with my hands.
Step 6 | Eye cream | Kiehls Super Multi-Corrective Eye-Opening Serum Hands down this is my favorite eye cream. Honestly, it’s just soooo good. I love how it reduces puffiness in the mornings and works on dark circles overnight.
Non-Daily Favorites
Scrub | Lab Series Invigorating Face Scrub I use this twice a week while showering to help clean out my pores and clean up my face. It’s quite coarse so my tip is to rub it across your face gently for about minute. Your skin will feel so smooth after!
Face mask | Aesop Parsley Seed Cleansing Mask I do this mask once a week or so. It stays on your face for fifteen minutes so I usually put it on while I sit in the bath, which is perfect because it’s as calming for my face as sitting in the bath is for my body!
Breakouts | Malin & Gotez Acne Treatment Anytime I see or feel a zit forming on my face or have an ingrowing hair in my stubble, I put a dab of this product on it overnight; it really helps to dry it out and reduce the redness.
Eye mask | Sephora Pomegranate Eye Mask Seriously, you have to try these eye masks. I’ve only used them three times but I’m so hooked I went back to Sephora and bought a bunch more! They leave your eyes feeling so much brighter and fresher.
Post-shave | Nivea Sensitive Post Shave Balm I apply this balm to my neck after shaving my stubble; it’s soothing and affordable – win, win!
I wanted to round out the post with three things I always do as part of my skincare routine:
1. Once I’ve applied water to my skin while cleansing, I use a Luna by Foreo all over my face and neck.
2. I always apply serums and moisturizer to my face and neck in small dabs and never by rubbing it between my two hands first.
3. I rub cream into my face in a circular upwards movement because it’s like a mini-massage for the face, encourages circulation and lifting. I really noticed a positive difference in my complexion after I started doing this!
And that’s it! Let me know if you have any questions – and I’d love to hear about your favorites, too!

10 Best Seasonal Foods For A Flawless Face
As the seasons change, so too does our skin. During summer, we tend to skip out on moisturizer, while fall and winter bring drier climates and, with that, a parched complexion. We asked Sonya Dakar, celebrity facialist and owner of the Sonya Dakar Skin Clinic, for the 10 best ingredients for our fall/ winter complexion. Dakar sprinkled in a few of her magical DIY recipes for a flawless face as well. And, the best part, all of these ingredients come from seasonal foods and spices (think: apple cider, pumpkin pie, hot cocoa, and wine) that are good enough to eat and slather on your skin… so, dig in!
1. APPLES We all love to enjoy a good apple pie or hot apple cider during this time of year, but it’s also a wonderful ingredient for your skin. I especially like to use Apple Stem Cells in my skincare and incorporate it in my facials, like the Apple Stem Cell Facial.
Apple stem cells are extracted from a rare endangered Swiss apple that was widely studied for its remarkable self-preservation qualities. Simply said, the type of “genus” of this apple stayed fresh for months. The intense self-regenerating properties stored in the apple’s stem cells were extracted and are the basis for this cutting edge treatment. This ingredient is ideal for any type of aging concerns as it helps skin regenerate a youthful and glowing complexion.
Editor’s Pick: Juice Beauty Green Apple Peel Full Strength ($48)
2. COCOA Who doesn’t enjoy a nice hot cocoa during these cooler months? While it is delicious served warm, cocoa has many benefits to the skin as well. It’s a wonderful, all natural exfoliator that gently polishes the skin and removes dead, dry skin. The cocoa bean shell contains theobromine, a methylxanthine very similar to caffeine. It is well appreciated for its draining and detoxifying actions, as well as its stimulating/energizing power and for the feeling of well-being/comfort that it induces on the skin. If you’re in search of a gentle and natural form of exfoliation that will also detox your skin, be sure to look for cocoa listed in your facial scrub.
Editor’s Pick: Sonya Dakar Detox Micro Scrub ($59)
3. PUMPKIN Pumpkin pie, pumpkin latte, it seems that you can’t go anywhere without seeing this fall favorite incorporated somehow! My favorite use of pumpkin is called pumpkin clay. Pumpkin clay is derived form the Mediterranean coast and not only absorbs oils and impurities from the skin, it also has a great firming action. While it is not easy to find pumpkin clay in most skincare masks, I have created an easy DIY for your to do at home.
Pumpkin Facial Mask ½ cup cooked and cooled organic pumpkin puree (fresh is best) 1 teaspoon raw honey (a wonderful humectant) 1 capsule Vitamin E oil. 1 teaspoon organic apple cider (great astringent) 1 teaspoon green plain yogurt. ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon Mix all ingredients and apply to cleansed skin. Leave for 10-15 minutes, rinse.
Editor’s Pick: Sanitas Pumpkin Enzyme Mask ($32)
4. NUTMEG Nutmeg can actually help you achieve smoother and healthier skin by treating several skin problems. Nutmeg has a lot of strong antibacterial, astringent and anti-inflammatory properties, it’s traditionally been used to treat eczema and other skin conditions. Nutmeg can reduce the infection and swelling around your clogged pores, resulting in smaller spots and smoother scars.
Editor’s Pick: Jo Malone Nutmeg and Ginger Body Creme ($75)
5. HONEY Honey is more than delicious; it has wonderful health benefits as well. It’s been used in traditional healing for centuries. When applied to acne spots, honey may stop swelling by killing any infection, and make your scars heal more quickly and smoothly than they would otherwise.
Editor’s Pick: Rodial Bee Venom Eye ($160)
6. SWISS CHARD & ARUGALA These greens are in season and at their peak during fall months, they are also a great source of alkalizing and detoxifying chlorophyll. Chlorophyll is like the green blood of plant leaves and actually closely resembles our own red blood cells. Because of this it is known as an excellent blood cleanser and oxygenator. This is extremely healthy for getting a glowing complexion and detoxing your skin.
Editor’s Pick: Nature’s Way Chlorofresh, Liquid Chlorophyll Natural Mint ($9); take a shot a day or add to your drinking water.
7. BEETS These bright red root veggies pack a variety of vitamins and minerals and are rarely found in such high concentrations within one food.
They are really a superfood when it comes to anti-aging because they help to fight wrinkles and skin ailments naturally with folate. They prevent age-related degeneration with vitamin A and carotenoids.
I love to cut them into quarters, drizzle with olive oil and roast on 425 for 30 minutes. They are also wonderful in juices and smoothies.
Editor’s Pick: Tata Harper Resurfacing Mask ($58); contains beet extract
8. GRAPES Their natural harvest is in the fall, when their flavor and sweetness is at its peak. The most potent part of the grape (in terms of healthy skincare) is its peel because it is rich in the super anti-oxidant resveratrol. Resveratrol is a super anti-oxidant most commonly found in the skin of red grapes and is a must-have ingredient to your anti-aging skin care regimen. Resveratrol has been dominating the field of anti-aging research for years and the evidence for topical use for skin care is mounting. Coming from the skin of wine grapes, resveratrol lives up to (and surpasses) the anti-aging benefits found in actual wine itself. It’s anti-inflammatory properties help to reduce premature aging in the skin that can be caused by inflammation.
Additionally, resveratrol is a powerful antioxidant and free-radical fighter. Resveratrol has the ability to slow the photo-aging of your skin when exposed to UV radiation. Sun damage is the #1 reason your skin ages, which is why you need to protect it daily, even in winter. Resveratrol not only has wonderful anti-aging benefits, but in clinical studies it has been proven to help clear up acne as well. While I do believe that alcohol is not the greatest beverage for your complexion, it is ok to indulge in red wine once in a while. You can also try to eat more grapes, and incorporate them into salads, and even savory dishes.
Editor’s Pick: Caudalie Vinoperfect Radiance Serum ($79)
9. ORANGES I love to add orange juice to smoothies, use it in salad dressings, and even to bake. Oranges are a wonderful source of much needed vitamin C. As you age, your body slows down its production of collagen and elastin, which keeps skin strong, flexible, and resilient. The antioxidants found in vitamin C stimulate the production of collagen and minimize fine lines, wrinkles, and scars.
Orange Creamsicle Smoothie Recipe 1 cup fresh oranges,
1 carrot, peeled and chopped, 1/2 cup orange juice, 1/2 cup green plain yogurt 1 slice of ginger, peeled and chopped
, 2 cups of ice,
2 scoops of vanilla Ultima Power (or any other protein powder) Blend and enjoy!
Editor’s Pick: Ole Henriksen Truth Serum Vitamin C Collagen Booster ($60)
10. POMEGRANATE Pomegranates have over 600 seeds in each fruit, and they are packed with almost as many skincare benefits.
Pomegranates protect and strengthen skin cells on the surface and regenerate cells in the deeper layers of skin. Both the fruit and the oil from its seeds strengthen the outer layers and repair deeper layers of skin, which promotes cellular regeneration and collagen production. Collagen is the basic building block of our skin and the key protein that maintains firm, smooth, youthful skin. Special compounds in pomegranates not only inhibit enzymes that break down collagen, but also extend the life of fibroblasts (the cells that produce collagen and elastin) to support skin’s integrity and improve skin elasticity. Pomegranates also contain super oxidants which fight and repair free-radical damage from the sun and environmental factors that age skin, including hyperpigmentation and age spots.
Editor’s Pick: Weleda Pomegranate Firming Day Cream ($33)

The antioxidants found in vitamin C stimulate the production of collagen and minimize fine lines, wrinkles, and scars.
Orange Creamsicle Smoothie Recipe 1 cup fresh oranges,
1 carrot, peeled and chopped, 1/2 cup orange juice, 1/2 cup green plain yogurt 1 slice of ginger, peeled and chopped
, 2 cups of ice,
2 scoops of vanilla Ultima Power (or any other protein powder) Blend and enjoy!
