Iron Crow and Laser Weapons

I'm just straight up going to be out here making up the schematics and blueprints of the Iron Crow planes for this chapter, so I can extrapolate later, huh?

I know nothing about planes, but here I am reading manuals and blueprints since these planes will probably feature heavily throughout The Rod That Blocks the Lightning. After all, a good portion of the plot of S2 was Geumseagi trying to find out what they were, and how they could be used against Flower Hill.

Especially since laser based weapons are apparently in development already? Like the HELIOS 60-plus-K-Class laser used by the USS Preble, used to blind optics and supposedly can destroy small targets.

I think it is a similar version of the AN/SEQ-3 Laser Weapon System or XN-1 LaWS already in use by the US Navy to take down small targets.

So, obviously, I now have to research these far more in depth, in order to figure out how the Iron Crows can take out entire tank units like they do.

Actually, the beam is comparable to what we have now, it just seems to have a wider effect. I could see the Wolf Unit coming up with something like this, since they are supposed to be based on the US from what I understand, and these types of lasers have been researched since the 1930s. So why does Dr. Huinjogjebi have this type of technology in S1, if not for espionage and such? There must be a reason why the Wolf Unit hates the Weasel Unit.

The shape of the lasers is comparable to real life. I can see how the weight is distributed for the most part, so the shape of the plane should be sound.

Although, they mostly seem to need something much more larger, like one of those large Navy Boats, to provide a stable base and energy support. The ships they are attached to don't seem to be using nuclear energy or anything like that. In fact, it appears to be good for ground attacks and boats anyway, since it can burn through aircraft wiring surprisingly easily.

It has been SUCH a happy season in our family! We've celebrated 5 birthdays -- me, Iva, Jannes, Hosanna, and Immanuel! Isn't it sweet that my two sets of twins have their birthdays so close? And I'm a twin too -- my family truly has been blessed!

Little Immanuel and Hosanna are still so sweet! Hosanna is so servant-hearted, and when she's not playing with her siblings or helping out, she loves to learn about animals or even go outside and find some little critters to care for! I'm sure she'd love to marry a vet or a farmer when she's older, so she can help out! And with all that gorgeous blonde hair and her sweet nature, he'll be a lucky man! Immanuel is going to be such a strong leader when he's older -- he's just like Natan at his age! He can be a little challenging to manage, but it's always good to have another proper little boy running around outside.

Jannes, on the other hand, still hasn't grown out of being too shy and timid for a boy. He likes to sit inside and read, and we have to keep a close eye on what he's reading, to make sure it's all God-fearing and appropriate. He's also too eager to help out with things that really are women's work - it's very good-natured but he'll not be a good headship with an attitude like that!

Iva is still our problem child, but I think the Lord has done some work on breaking her spirit, and she's now much better at being obedient and helpful than she was as a little girl. However, she still struggles with having a cheerful spirit, and she isn't good at putting other's needs above her own. We'll have to pray that this changes or she'll never get a husband (she also needs to lose some weight for this same issue). We're also praying that she'll develop a less vain and immodest spirit. She was allowed to buy her own clothes as a birthday present, and the skirt she picked was far too short, and needs a underskirt. She's not too happy about this, but mothers need to protect their daughters' dignity and countenance.

And I've turned 40! While entering a new season of life is always bittersweet, I am so excited to see what God has planned for me in my next few years. We pray every day to be blessed with a new baby, but I'll be content with however many children God decides to bless me with, as my mama years are going to soon over. Even though this is a sadness, having grown-up children means weddings and grandchildren soon enough. And nothing makes my heart happier than knowing my children are on the path the Lord has for them.

Okay so Elton John and Rod Stewart were always trying to playfully fucking sabotage each other back in the day to the point where Elton got Rod's advertising blimp shot down and that's not the point I'm trying to make in this post but it felt relevant for comparison to the point I actually want to make-

Here's the backstory:

So if you haven't listened to Tommy Shaw's podcast you really should but in one of the episodes he did with Kevin Cronin, Kevin talks about how Styx and REO were very low key at each other's throats for decades without actually being rivals- starting with TW4 (a fetus version of Styx) and Kevin's first band doing a "battle of the bands" at Kevin's high school (because they were all from Illinois) and TW4 absolutely ANNIHILATING Kevin's wimpy ass band at his own school.

Flash forward 10+ years later to 1981 and Hi Infidelity is absolutely dominating the charts in America for months, giving REO Speedwagon the superstardom they worked and waited for so patiently. Kevin said every Tuesday someone from Epic would call them to tell them the position the album was in, and he said after so many weeks of it being #1 they just stopped picking up the phone because they didn't feel the need to hear it again- they already knew it was still up there.

Until one day it wasn't.

One Tuesday, when the phone call came, they said "the album is #2. Styx is #1."

Kevin realized that TW4 was schooling him all over again and he was like gOD DAMMIT

So here's the point I'm trying to make:

THEY FUCKIN BEAT THEM TO MTV IN THE END THO LOL

but at the same time REO's very first video on MTV was also the first video on MTV to experience technical difficulties and was accidentally cut short after 12 seconds on the air oop

but also at the same time as that, the corner text for Styx's first video on MTV got the name of the song wrong (listed as Rockin' Paradise),

So in conclusion there really was no winner here besides the fact they both got played as one of the first 10 videos ever broadcast on MTV
