Who wants to help me ID some rocks?
So one of the cool things that got left at the new house is the former owner's rock and fossil collection, which they meticulously catalogued by which I mean they left them out under some junipers in the back yard. The power is out, so I'm spraying some of the dirt and leaves off with the hose, but if anyone has guesses I'd love to hear them.
1. The Big Fucker:
Tumblr media
(10 in screwdriver for scale)
First clue that there was a secret collection, this was the only one really visible. Pale translucent blue-green cubic crystals and skinny, more opaque/white ones on top of a heavy dull white rock. Pretty, whatever she is.
2. Salt n Peppa
Tumblr media
Pretty sure the black stuff is smoky quartz, but what are the white cubes and the red rock it's on?
3. Sparkly Bois:
Tumblr media
Two of these- I think the little cubes are pyrite, but what's the dark, shiny/metallic stuff? Very heavy for their size.
4. Assorted Dead Things!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Fossil clams and a coral I think, but if anyone knows anything more specific I'd love to hear it. Pretty sure most of these things are from the Rockies/front range area but genuinely, I don't know where they got them.
5. IDK what she is, but her name is Helen:
Tumblr media
Like a bunch of criss-crossing wafers. Not very heavy for her size.
6. Green Stuff:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
What are the green crystals coming out of this rock? They're cool, whatever they are.
7. Miscellaneous Shinies:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Assorted small rocks I found while digging. Small dead clam, I think some of that is mica, and I'm really curious about the shiny stuff on the granite (?).
Part 1/2, gonna hose some more rocks while y'all speculate.

Found in pile of misc rocks meant for landscaping
I’ve never seen a rock like this usually I’m good at identifying but this one is very unique but I have a hunch it might be petrified wood or something igneous based It feels very smooth and shiny near exactly like a lava flow rock but it’s wrong color
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And there’s ragged blocky structures
it might be a matrix of several minerals but it feels igneousy
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
See what I mean it looks lava flowly but the colors are light

Conclusion: it's most likely angelite.
Can someone help me identify this rock? I got it at a market and it didn't have a label.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I tried google but I'm just not knowledgeable enough.
Reblogging so more people see is appreciated!
Idk if it will help but it almost feels powdery? Really soft, like I always think there must be residue left on my hands but there isn't.
It's harder than my fingernail but softer than a nail I had lying around. It can be scratched with a knife!

BTW, can anyone tell what is up with this rock?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It looks like a fossil, and my gut says "fossil skin," but I don't actually know. (The vendor I bought this from said he had no idea either, but was leaning towards "trilobite"?????)

it's the magic gravel because i keep finding inexplicably insane specimens to the point where im staring at the ground more than im doing actual work it kind of seems like what i imagine how a gambling addiction feels
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
giant chunks of druzy quartz and green tourmaline (I think?) and pyrite pseudomorph and phantom point??????
apparently we've been using this same pile of gravel for like 2 years but we've been pulling from it again recently bc the last hurricane washed out like half of the farm roads so everywhere's full of cool fresh rocks

hear me out the other day i woke up and was immediately hit in the face with "7 year gap narumitsu in europe where phoenix kisses edgeworth in a low moment and then tries to flee and edgeworth uses mind chess on him to get the truth out of him which is a completely normal and ordinary average way to discuss your relationship"

listen to me. if youre an adult you have the ability to be an unfathomably kind influence on a child. i had a good teacher who let me break down in the hallway for the whole period because he noticed me crying in class, and before that he complimented my writing skills and encouraged me to persue writing. and man ill never forget that teacher as long as i live for even the miniscule acts of kindness. be kind to kids. you never know whats going on that you cant see.

Can anyone help me id this? found during field work in the top part of the rhyolite lava flow, doesn't react with hcl, is almost too soft to scratch glass, found as thin coating on few rocks, there was a lot of chrisocolla and some other copper minerals in that outcrop, there was also some hydrothermal activity in that area (porous part of lava flow had some post gas voids filled by barite, quartz etc.) i would appreciate any answers, especially if you could also provide some arguments for your pick
