Made a pair of lil squid fellas to sit on my desk :)
I didn’t like any of the squid patterns I found on the internet so i ended up making my own, and after some trial and error I ended up with these little guys. They’ve both even got little beaks! I’ve attached the pattern I made below if anyone wants it haha.
I used size 8 miyuki rocaille/round beads, some bugles and 0.28mm thread, but pretty much any size or shape should work. Hell, you could even use pony beads if you’re crazy enough.
If your thread’s long enough you can even do the whole thing in one go, I’d personally recommend that as it means you have less knots to tie up :).
#Surprise craft tutorial jumpscare#I love these little guys so much i had to share them with the world#My art#squid#beadwork#glass beads#seed beads#pattern#bead pattern#tutorial#crafts#craftblr

US Vogue June 1964
Givenchy Haute Couture Collection Spring/Summer 1964. Audrey Hepburn, in fascinating kohl eye makeup and hair wrapped in a crown of braided hair, perfectly embraces the "Jaipur" look in this pink chiffon evening gown with an oval neckline; with wide sleeves up to the elbow; and to the bands of marvelous embroidery consisting of beads half a foot deep, tiny gold beads, applied flowers in pale green, apricot and yellow, gold thread and rhinestones. The necklace, a ball fringed with seed beads. Matching slippers by Mancini.

Rubies, silver and Czech rocaille beads. I found these presentable lichens while picking berries. No bears were encountered that day. 🐻

I fr would lov to know where u get ur resources for bracelets, bc urs always look so nice nd id love to join in on that side of bracelet making (atm I make the woven types, only normal patterns bc theyre less time consuming, but theyre still overall. Time consuming,)
the little flower ones admittedly do take ages. i use rocaille beads from panduro & followed this tutorial.
j o i n m e
#idk if theres panduro stores in your part of the world#but any glass bead works#the smaller the bead the neater the flower!!!#i tried using plastic beads too#cus theyre cheaper#but the colour rubs off pretty quickly so i now stick to glass

It's Sunday, and the lazy part of my weekend is only starting today, when I have work again tomorrow. Booo! Not enough lazy time!
We close early on Fridays, so I usually get home early and can start my lazing. This past Friday, however, there were train troubles (for once not the fault of the Deutsche Bahn - there were people wandering around the track) and by the time I finally got home, it was dark and I was cold, grouchy, and headachy. Not the best start.
And yesterday, I had a day-long non-work workshop with a friend. Jewellery with Miyuki beads. It was fun, but, oh boy, do I now understand why those beaded earrings are so expensive on etsy. We used delica beads in size 11/0, which are very regular, but another size smaller than the rocailles of my youth. In the end, I managed a pair of earrings and one third of a bracelet, and I was one of the faster people there. I might try my hand at a couple of other earrings - I do like dangly earrings, and there are plenty of DIYs online. So, enrichment successful! I might even have to count this as my try something new for this year, since, well, my 2023 was dominated by work and health issues and I simply did not get around to doing some of the activities I had thought about due to that. Fingers crossed for a more healthy 2024, at least, so I have more energy and opportunity to do things when I am not busy with work.
So, for today, my plans are staying in bed until noon, doing some dishes/laundry/vacuuming/cooking/dishes again, and spending even more time in bed.

Embroidered stars
I'm currently working on Christmas ornaments I plan to gift to friends and family this year! I think they might inspire some of you aswell, if you're in search of a relatively easy to make and cute handmade gift.
You could include these with a Christmas card you send or add them as decoration to a bigger gift.
I have a little hoop I put my fabric in for equal tension but you could totally do this without an embroidery hoop aswell. You need some uni coloured fabric, preferably in a linen or crosstitch quality. Trace out a circle (I used a glass) to know where to stitch in. I've decided to stitch stars, because they're festive and fun to make (and also relatively easy to stitch). I'm sure you'll find a star stitch tutorial online if the stitch isn't self-explanatory (if you have a little bit of embroidery experience I'm sure you'd be able to figure it out). Basically you make a cross and then an X over that. You can change up the size of the crosd and X for some variety.
After stitching I've also sewed on some sparkly rocaille beads because stars are usually shiny. And shiny is just pretty.
I insert some cardboard at the back of the fabric to give it body (you can recycle some cereal box or something similar) and gather the fabric down with a quick running stitch (see 3rd picture). I then sew on a loop to hang the ornament from and sew a circle (cut out of a fleece fabric scrap or another non-fray fabric ideally) to the back with some whipstitches. Voila! All done and ready to be gifted. 🎁

YOU'VE SOO MANY PEARLS. HOWW?? I have such a hard time finding beads that don't look cheap or aren't expensive, that i don't have much beside the rocailles ones and the letters.

best friend… let me tell you a super secret that can not go any farther than us. for my first eras concert… i think i spent four hundred dollars on beads… oopsie. however! temu has great options for cheap! and amazon isn’t that bad of an option either!

more reviews those are just some perles de rocaille and I can’t even make a cuff or anything because the hole of the beads won’t fit two strings
