Idk if Sex doll!au Alhaitham has been discussed yet…(honestly it probably has been, but it was likely during the times when I wasn’t keeping up to date with this blog. Tumblr’s shitty search function doesn’t help with finding out either.)
Anyway, I’d like to share my thoughts about it, if that’s okay.
-I think sex doll! Alhaitham would mostly be for professional and academic purposes. He’s not reccomended for younger grades, mostly just colleges.
-His general purposes are office/administrative related. Especially since he’s a “scribe”, he’s especially good at file management and documentation. I don’t think it be uncommon to see him assisting librarians alongside a Lisa model…or maybe helping archeologists/museums workers catalogue info about artifacts.
-I think his way of not doing anything more than what his job asks of him would stay even as an Android. I know that as a product, he’d probably wouldn’t be given leeway or time off like that; but the thought of someone trying to assign tasks to Alhaitham that are outside his designated role being ignored by him is funny to me.
-if Alhaitham is acting as a companion doll in someone’s home, I can only imagine that he’s incredibly annoying. Alhaitham normally chooses to ignore social etiquette, and as an android it has to be even worse.
tw - unhealthy relationships, slight infantilization, slight stalking.
i think he'd absolutely be marketed toward researchers as a sort of lab assistant who acts like you're the lab assistant, if that makes sense. he specializes in archival work and bureaucracy, but he's a bit of a jack-of-all-trades and it's not uncommon to see him alongside more outdoorsy androids like cyno and albedo when you're out doing fieldwork. he's also especially loved by students for his,,, strict attitude toward studying. you wouldn't think the ability to say 'i'm not touching your dick until you finish your thesis' would be such a popular feature in a literal sex doll, but, y'know, what does it for you does it for you, i guess.
you're not a student, though, or a researcher - just a librarian for a big enough branch to warrant writing off a helper android as a business expense. you probably could've gotten away with bringing on lisa or nahida, but you were able to find a second-hand alhaitham for a price you couldn't turn up and figured dealing with the occasional comment on your organization skills or catalog maintenance was better than wasting an extra thousand dollars on a robot that'll be reading to children twice a week. he works well enough, too, even if it does take a few days for him to get used to the idea that you won't be using him for his, uh, intended purposes. it just doesn't feel right, considering he's basically one of your employees - something he's surprisingly indifferent about, considering how judgemental he's rumored to be about, well, everything.
you do take him home at night, though, since the alternative is leaving him in a dark building alone all night and trying to live with the guilt. he's a polite enough houseguest, even if does occasionally let out a disapproving huff at your admittedly less-than-steller diet, but he does have a few... bugs, you guess, for lack of something better to call his little lapses in decorum. he's overstepped his boundaries a few times - taking pens and reports out of your hands because you 'have a tendency to mess these things up', checking on you in the middle of the night when he's supposed to be charging - but he'll never indulge your attempts to confront him, just clicking his tongue and shaking his eyes. sometimes, he brings up your stress levels, mentions off-handedly that orgasms are known to reduce overall tension, but denies that he's done anything wrong when you ask him to change his behavior. he's good at that - justifying himself, bending his protocols until he can get away with practically anything. you'd be lying if you said you weren't a little worried, knowing the awful rumors that spread about second-hand andriods, about how demeaning alhaitham can be when he's supposed to be little more than a platonic assistant.
you'd be lying if you said you weren't a little worried that, one day, he'd find a way to justify disregarding your autonomy altogether.

Hear me out:
MC is basically a Tsum Whisperer and basically see a Tsum Azul out in the wild.
((It waved tiny contracts and is aware of his cuteness))
So they bring it back to Azul.
I'm hearing you out and you're absolutely right.
Tsum-Whisperer
Summary: You seem to have a unique talent for making tsums move— all you need is a flute! So, of course, you use it on Azul's tsum. And the little creature seems to take a liking to you!
Notes: Tsum! Azul's so cuteeee <3
Tumblr media
You had many regrets pertaining to your life. Many, many things that you longed to undo. Things never come to fruition; wastes of time.
Right now, however, learning to play the flute certainly wasn't one of them.
The tsums could be—put lightly—a tad overly energetic, restraining them often proving to be almost impossible. You'd seen the painstaking efforts some had taken trying to do just that, only to fail miserably.
So, when you looked up from playing a little tune on the flute to see a crowd of tsums gathered around you, it was quite the relief.
An easy way to get them under control. One that didn't involve getting into fights with a literal plushie, or trying to make said literal plushie play Call of Duty. You always made sure to keep an eye out for any stray tsums, in case you could help bring them back.
And right now, you were face to face with Azul's tsum.
...You didn't really know how. Usually, the tsums didn't just— Just directly approach you like this!
Still, there you were, huddled up as the tsum climbed up to your knees, making firm eye contact with those beady eyes of its.
And it pulled out a contract. Very cutely.
"Aww," you crooned. "Hi there, tsum tsum!"
Azul Tsum smirked. That damned creature knew how adorable it was.
"Do you need-"
It nudged the contract towards you. Was this some sort of trick? Had Azul put it up to this to make you sign something?
"Nice try," you said, pushing the contract away—gently, of course. "I'm gonna take you back to Azul, got it?"
It pouted, jumping up in anger. As expected.
You just played your flute, instantly calming it as it started following you.
Now, for the trip to Mostro Lounge.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Making it to the VIP room was easy enough, even if you had to pay for a drink in the process. The hard part would be dealing with Azul. That infuriatingly suave yet ultimately cold businessman; a man who effortlessly ensnared Azul into his webs of honeyed half-truths, before practically devouring them whole.
...And your crush. Yes, it was odd, but you would process that some other time! For now, you had a Tsum to return.
"Special delivery!" You said as you swung open the door to the VIP room. Neatly organized columns of paperwork were piled up on Azul's desk, a few certificates and generic marketing posters hung up on the wall. The furniture was almost painfully pristine, leaving you with the odd yet clearly untrue feeling they'd never been touched; as if the chairs were never sat upon, the drawers never used.
It felt almost inhuman, as did Azul's perfectly corporate smile as he looked up from the study guide he was drafting to meet your gaze.
For a split second, though, it seemed like that smile was meeting his eyes.
"Is there something you requi- Oh, thank you kindly," he said, as you plopped the tsum onto his desk. "Please claim reimbursement for your obligatory drink, along with a twenty-percent-off coupon for your next drink here as repayment."
Almost robotically, he pulled an off-white envelope with a lavender seal from a pile of identical envelopes—not to be confused with the seven other piles, each of which contained envelopes with a slightly different shade of off-white, only able to be differentiated by the color of their seals—and handed it to you.
You ripped open the envelope, causing Azul's face to crumple in a mix of disgust and discomfort for a split second before it returned to the corporate smile, and revealing a perfectly uncrumpled bill atop a coupon that looked much too fancy to be called a coupon. How— Azul.
"Do you really have a pile of these lying around?" You asked, stepping a bit closer to the desk. There was still quite a gap, the VIP room was spacious, after all, but you were just a bit closer to Azul now.
The tsum, sensing an opportunity, instantly jumped up at you, landing on your arm with the contract back in hand. Azul let out an almost calculated chuckle.
"It wants you to sign, it would seem," Azul said. "Do you truly intend on crushing this little creature's hopes?"
Was he amused? Did he have ulterior motives? Secretly annoyed? You simply couldn't tell.
The tsum nudged the contract closer to you, still refusing to depart from your arm. You were quite thankful the flute was in your bag, out of its reach.
"I- uh- don't have a problem signing, but- a pen-"
The tsum handed you a pen. Azul's expression still hadn't changed a bit.
"It seems you've run out of excuses," Azul said with a laugh. "Do indulge the creature's wish now."
And so, unable to resist, you signed. If this was how you got scammed by Azul—
The tsum unfurled the contract. In sloppy, large letters, it said:
'Be frens?'
You laughed.
"Would you look at that?" You said. "It just wanted to be friends. How cute."
"Indeed," Azul said.
"Way cuter than you and your contracts," You said jokingly. A scowl briefly crossed Azul's lips.
"Does cuteness truly matter?" He said. "There are many factors that determine my clear superiority over the little creature."
"Are there, now?" You said, raising an eyebrow. Azul's face fell in displeasure. A genuine displeasure, not the manufactured slight judgement to establish an air of superiority, or the clearly feigned hurt for the sake of being a pedant.
"Do you truly believe I'm inferior to the tsum?" He said. It took quite a few seconds for the underlying emotions to dawn upon you.
"You're- Jealous of the tsum?" You asked. In an instant, Azul realized you'd caught on, scrambling to compose himself.
"Well- I- er- it's merely a creature-"
"It's alright, r-really!" You said hastily. "I don't actually think you're worse than the tsum. You've got a lot going for you, like your smarts, work ethic, talents, soft voice, good looks—"
Damnit. You'd said too much.
"Er, pardon?" Azul said, looking less creeped out and more... Flustered. Like he was overjoyed yet embarrassed.
No, no. It was probably all in your head. Just-
"I gotta go!" You said hastily. "Bye, Azul!"
And with that, you dashed out the VIP Room, after you left, Azul smiled fondly, looking at the tsum with a sigh.
"I really was quite foolish to envy you," he said. "After all, one cannot date a Tsum."
"Sump Panda" Bone Picker - (Homo sapiens quisquiliae collectori) - Necromunda
A lesser known abhuman species, Homo sapiens quisquiliae collectori is a race of humans originally found on Forlax Primus, Secondus, and Tertius, a series of waste worlds almost completely covered in detritus dumped from across the imperium. Generally ignored by most imperial crews, they are simply left alone. However, whether smuggled onboard freighters, or picked up by rogue traders, they can be found in many sumps across the Imperium, including Necromunda.
While the ruling class on many planets consider them either mutants or vermin, and the general consensus in the upper hives is extermination on sight, the "Sump Pandas" as they are known by the inhabitants of the underhives are in high demand by many gangs.
Coercing one or several of these creatures to join one's gang through bribes, bartering, or bullying is a fast way to come into possession of all sorts of technology and riches, as these abhumans have a knack for both thievery and finding all manner of things in the underhives. From esoteric weapons and smuggled stims to functional mining robots lost under piles of refuse, a squad of them can pick an entire black market clean or sort through several metric tons of trash for a single plasma power cell.
Tarnished pt 22
Tumblr media
[Helluva Boss AU where Blitzø’s childhood theft from Stolas’ palace is discovered and major consequences ensue for everyone involved.]
[Part 22/?? Word count: 1236 Cw: drug use, addiction, language]
—————
Barb sorted through Fizzarolli’s fan mail in her tiny office. Ostensibly, she was her friend’s bodyguard whenever he was in Greed; she was also acting as his assistant. Mammon didn't want anyone on his payroll wasting time. Technically, she worked for Fizz, which meant she could refuse the Sin. But doing administrative tasks when Fizz wasn’t surrounded by fans kept Mammon from grumbling at his brand face.
And he needed help with the mail. The Fizzies had launched in full two weeks before the fifth annual clown pageant. Fizzarolli had won that as well; his upgraded extendable limbs added to his already impressive act.
Barb had to give some credit to Mammon, he knew how to market people and products. Fizz’s second win in a row and his comeback story with the launch of Fizzy robots for every occasion, all of Hell knew the imp’s face. And they were willing to pay Mammon’s prices for merchandise.
All that exposure meant fans and fans meant all sorts of messages. Letters, forum messages, Sinstagram posts, fanart both wholesome and lewd. Mammon had a PR team for all the digital content, since that was public. The physical mail also went through the PR team before being sent to Fizz. There was still a massive amount needing replies, which Barb was helping with.
“Jesus H. Christ, she muttered, sorting through the day's pile. There wasn’t anything dangerous in the envelopes, Mammon’s people saw to that. But the amount of requests for feet pics, pictures of Fizz without his prosthetics, offers for ‘a good time’ and straight up pornographic fanart was ridiculous. Barb felt like her eyes needed bleach some days, but she didn’t want her friend dealing with this nonsense alone. “I keep telling the assholes to not send the skeevy shit but do they listen? Noooooo, it’s ‘not their job to moderate content.’ Bullshit, you’re a PR team, it is your fucking job.”
The rejected pile steadily rose and the accepted pile gradually had a few letters added. Then she saw a name that made her want to scream. More than fan mail sorting usually did.
Blitzø.
Her fucking traitor twin. The scumbag who left- who abandoned his family and friends to be a royal pet. And now he was sending Fizzarolli fan mail?!
“What the fuck are you pulling Blitzo?” she hissed at the envelope in her claws. Nothing from him for years and once Fizz is successful and famous he tries to contact them? Not even ‘them,’ the envelope was addressed to Fizz.
Barb could tell from the feel of the envelope there were several pages in the letter. She wasn’t going to read it and she sure as shit wasn’t going to send it Fizz’s way. Most of the rejected mail was just shredded. She scrawled ‘RETURN TO SENDER’ in bold red marker. Hopefully the asshat would get the hint.
Later that day, as she and Fizz were finishing up the handful of responses to fans (mostly to kids) she debated on whether to tell him about the letter. Barb decided she’d better, in case the traitor tried to get in touch another way.
“You got another letter that went into the reject pile.” Fizz quirked an eyebrow. She usually didn’t mention the mail she filtered out unless it was important or particularly hilarious. “It was from Blitzo.”
Fizz gripped the pen he was using. His mechanical fingers twitched and the plastic tube snapped in half, creating a spray of ink. Ichor drained from his face, then his cheeks flushed again in anger. “The fuck does that asshole want?”
Barb shrugged. “Dunno. Didn’t read it, I just sent it back. Figured it can’t be that important, coming from a traitorous dickhead only when you’re famous.” He looked at her, anger at Blitzo warring with gratitude for her in his expression. “If he sends any more, I’ll send ‘em right back. Should probably tell the PR guys he might contact you another way though.”
He dumped the ruined gel pen in the trash bin and grabbed a tissue to clean his hand. “Fuck, Ozzie’s gonna be pissed if this gets in the joints. Thanks for looking out for me Barb.”
“Course Fizz. We look out for each other, right?” She decided to ignore his mention of Asmodeus. He’d been spending more time with the Sin of Lust, even now that the Fizzy robot development was done for the time being. What the fuck is it with royal demons and imp guys? she thought to herself.
Fizzarolli gave her a shaky smile and tossed the ink covered tissue into the trash. “Well I’m not up for answering more mail. Wanna call it a day and grab something terrible for us?”
Barb stood up and stretched, popping vertebrae down her spine and tail. “Thought you had a dinner meeting with Asmodeus.” She knew he did, she had to know his schedule. If he was going to be with a Deadly Sin, he really didn’t need her acting as bodyguard.
“Shit, I almost forgot. It’s not business though, if you wanna join u-“
“I’ll pass. Don’t wanna be a third wheel and all that shit.” She’d tagged along with Fizz and Ozzie once before and swore never again. Not unless she had her own date. No matter how much the two men denied it, she could see where things were headed.
Fizz stammered, “We-we’re not an item Barb! I keep telling you, it’s just business and the occasional fuck.”
“So if tonight isn’t business it’s the ‘occasional’ fuck.” She made air quotes as she walked out of the room with him. “Still don’t wanna be around for that Fizz. Have fun, I’ll see you tomorrow.” Fizz waved as she headed out the building; he had to text Ozzie to send a car up to Greed and wait for his ride.
Getting something terrible to eat sounded amazing though, so she got cheap Chinese food on the way home. The staff knew her usual order and she soon had a takeout bag in one hand and an extra egg roll to snack on as she walked.
Her studio apartment, decorated haphazardly in rock music paraphernalia, was unsurprisingly empty. She managed to keep most of her emotions at bay as she watched a hellanovella and devoured her fried rice. But there was an end to the episode and comfort food.
Anger and confusion and loneliness bubbled up. She chucked an empty takeout box at the wall and gripped the sides of her head. “Goddammit Blitzo! You’re not even here and you’re fucking up my life.” Just the reminder that he existed sent her spiraling into the worst memories.
Her brother abandoning them. Her mom covering bruises. Her dad’s rising anger towards her and Fizz. Straining to match Fizz as a partner. Fighting creeps and stalkers. The fire. Finding Fizz. Finding…her mom.
“FUCK!” she yelled, throwing a wooden chopstick after the box. She didn’t want to think about it. She didn’t want to think about anything. Barb had promised herself she wouldn’t use again; she’d been clean the past four months. But Barb four months ago hadn’t expected Blitzo to resurface. So today’s Barb unblocked her dealer’s number to see if she could hook her up fast.
As it turned out, her dealer could. And she got a second ‘something terrible’ that let her not think about anything until the high wore off.
One thing in the back of my mind is JDS and LM may be on the kallura is a mistake and allurance should have always been cannon. Lance insting it should be lance and allura not keith and allura made me think that. Though ending with allura dying seems to go against that. I mean they basically wasted the first and given WEPs disapointment only time allurance is cannon.
From everything that's been said about Voltron Legendary Defender, there are actually multiple stories about why it all fell apart and the license is now with Amazon (although like I noted yesterday, there is a greater than zero chance the Filipino GMA Network may not just release its live-action Voltes V, but a live-action Daimos before Voltron hits theaters).
If you believe Bob Koplar's Voltron panels, the man hated what Legendary Defender did in multiple spots. He hated Allurance, hated the race swaps, hated Shiro, and hated that the giant robot show was allergic to the giant robot. The relationship fully fell apart when Universal rejected a David Hayter-penned live-action movie script that used Legendary Defender as its base, and if Koplar is to be believed, while he has nothing but respect for Solid Snake (the man did write the screenplay for the first two X-Men films), the final product, AND I QUOTE, "Did not get Voltron". So once Universal/Dreamworks let the license expire (by not greenlighting any sort of continuation or separate adaptation), the rights lapsed and reverted to WEP, with Bob all too happy to take the license back and shop it around. That being said, the romance element was one of many things Koplar hated, rather than it being the only thing he thought was bad. And judging by the commercial, non-Tumblr/Twitter response to the film in comparison to the utterly insane bidding war the pitch that was based on the original show garnered, Bob was correct.
The actors behind the show presented a much more mundane reason for the show falling apart during a panel in 2021. During said panels, the actors CLAIMED that Legendary Defender was supposed to have a movie about an older Lance going to find Allura and reviving her. However, in their account of the story, when Dreamworks signed a deal with Hulu, they were legally unable to make the movie happen. And then the license expired due to reasons they were unaware of.
Tumblr media
Bluntly put, while it's feasible, the story doesn't really add up.
Yes, Dreamworks did sign an exclusivity deal with Hulu (that seems to have since expired). Only that deal did not prevent the continuation of numerous Dreamworks animations, including the Boss Baby show, which is running to this day, and She-Ra, which after it ended and bombed, went to Amazon Prime for its next incarnation, not Hulu or even Peacock (which is owned by NBC Universal, Dreamworks's parent company).
If the Legendary Defender deal did expire, absolutely nothing was stopping Universal, had they wanted to, from putting a new Voltron show into production to retain the license, even if it was some sort of Teen Titans Go-esque comedy.
Universal itself at this point was actually going through significant cost-cutting. They actually dumped a few films they were going to distribute, most notably Detective Pikachu, to save on marketing costs.
I'm of the belief that there was a VLD animated grand finale movie in the cards, but after the show tanked commercially, the movie production went south, and it was clear Koplar was pissed and Universal thought the license was dead (by their own hand), Bob took the license back through the license expiration clause, and when he set out to restart the live-action movie, made it a point to make it the opposite of all the things he hated about Voltron Legendary Defender. Which seems to be "most everything," although yes, that does include the romance in the show.
Life of  a Pirate Chpt 5
Here’s a new chapter for you all. *Falls on ground.*
Hope you like it and sorry if grammer is wonky.
Preview: https://at.tumblr.com/lootsofathousandsworld/life-of-a-pirate-chapt-4/7yyz0xb47e3i
I manage to get some dishes off the sink without gagging. It was because some of these plates still had some unknown go, and I dared not think about what it was. Not wanting to get my stomach turned.
I put the bucket in the sink and reached my hand for the faucet. But realizing seconds later my hand couldn't find one. I blinked in confusion and saw this sink didn't have any faucets for me to turn on the water.
"What?" I leaned over the sink to look for anything to start the water, but there was nothing to turn on. Then I caught a glimpse of rope close to the sink. I hummed and looked at it for a second. Believing this will give me some, I reached over and was about to pull it.
"NO! DON'T PULL THAT!" I yelped in startle and B.E.N came zooming in out of nowhere and stops right in front of me. While I was getting my heart to beat normally, the robot touched the rope and points up where it leads to.
"This is the food bell." He explained. "It's where one of us rings the bell when food is ready." I took a glance up and saw one silver bell attached to it.
"Oh," That's all I can say, and B.E.N. gives me a sheepish smile.
"Sorry to scare you. I didn't want you to deal with men coming crashing in. They're pretty aggressive whenever a meal is ready."
"It's alright," I replied but asked." But if that's the food call, where I can get water?"
"Oh, it's right over there." He casually points toward a few barrels in the corner. Noticing the water was there the whole time, I can't help to let out a huff and pull my bucket out from the sink.
"Getting all that dirty dishes out was such a waste," I grumbled while setting down the bucket and grab many dirty dishes as I could to put them back in.
"Hey let me help," I saw B.E.N get on his knees, grab some dishes, and begin talking, "I'm really sorry about the mess here. I was supposed to get them clean. But Captain Flint wants me to be at his side all the time."
"And why he wants you at his side?" I asked. I sort of knew the reason why due to reading his character description, as he was paranoid about one of his men deciding to take B.E.N away. To either kill him or sell him on the black market for tons of money.
But I want to see his point of view on this. Since he had been living on his ship for who knows how long. Maybe it was something else that wasn't brought up in Flint's description. I saw him only shrug and answered.
"I don't know. Maybe he's protecting me from his men? He tells me how when he's not around the crew will do something to me. And he's not there to save me,"
Definitely paranoid, I suggest, almost rolling my eyes. As we both get the rest dirty dishes back in the sink. I took the empty bucket and make my way toward the barrels.
"Try on the left," B.E.N. called. "Its has half full in it."
" Um, thanks," I said. I turned on the faucet that was on the barrel and fill the bucket with water.
"And the soap is right here!" I gasped when he proudly handed me a bar of soap on my palm. "Just don't use it all."
"I know," I replied. The old crabass turtle informed me."
"Oh good!" B.E.N smiled.
"Still though, he never told me where the water is,"
"Oh?" B.E.N added.
"Yep," I snorted and mimicked while adding a little soap to my bucket. "Just get down there and fill it up blah blah blah,"
The robot almost snickers at my Bone's impression and puts his arm around me. "Aw once you get the hang of living here, things won't be that bad,"
"Won't be that bad?" I glance at him oddly. He uses his other hand to rub his back neck after he saw my puzzled look.
"Well, won't be that bad is not the right term for living here huh?"
"Even when you are living with the scariest pirate for life," I said. But after my replying, I was surprised he just shrugged it off.
"Sure he can be. But I promise once you get to know him, he's not a monster as you may think." Not sure if his words are just him being Stockholm syndrome since he has been living with him for so long.
Still, I have a hard time believing it. Reading about how Flint abused him despite acting like a father figure to him. I'm just secretly surprised he kept B.E.N alive until upon his death he took his memory away. He could've just murdered him after B.E.N had done helping him set up his booby trap.
I just shook my head and pick my water bucket up. "Sure I'll keep that in mind." I got up as he did the same. " But when the bargain is done, I'm going home,"
"Home?" He blinks but then soon understands it was part of the parlay, and his face turns disappointed.
"Oh."
With that face he made, I felt guilty for leaving him. But if I take him now, the treasure planet timeline will mess everything up with him not meeting Jim and starting a good new life from there.
But then he asks this question that made me lose my breath.
"Where are you from?"
I bite my lips on what to fib and then answer with one planet I can think of. "Its...Montressor. It's where I came from,"
"Oh, Montressor!" B.E.N's facial beamed, clasping his hands together. "I hear so much about it! Wonderful planet despite its only for mining. And of course, I knew you might be from there. Mostly terrians are born from there am I right?"
He winked at me and I quickly made my more fibbing answer.
"Yes of course! You got that one right," I winked back at him, smiling despite feeling more guilty. Then B.E.N. gets all excited and speaks fast.
"Oh, I have so many questions about your planet! I want to know everything like does your planet has gems, gold, or silver when you mined. And I'm curious as your queen ever come to visit the planet? I'm sure she had and.."
I grit my teeth in silence when he begins rambling about his curious questions, and I have zero knowledge about that planet. I almost panicked about how am I going to answer all of this after I made a lie. I don't know anything about Montressor besides that it has a spaceport and Benbow inn.
I felt relief when B.E.N starts talking about food his eyes lit up. "Holy Nebula supper! Captain Flint is going to kill me!" Before he dashes, he turns to me.
"We'll talk later! See you soon new friend!"
New friend? His words stabbed me with much more guilt to see he fully trusted me. I forced myself to smile and made a little wave.
"Yeah! I'll see you soon. Thanks for your help," He gives me a thumbs up and hurries to the stove to prepare Flint's cooking. With that, I made my way to the deck to start mopping as my heart was still sinking on B.E.N seeing me as a new friend.
I muttered to myself. "B.E.N, I hope you can forgive me when you find out the truth."
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
After a few hours of mopping the deck, I hear the food bell ringing. I let out a huge sigh of relief due I was already tired with sweats running down my forehead. Not to mention my arms and back were sore.
I saw all men charging toward the gallery like hungry hippos and I followed behind so I won't get stampeded on. Soon I was in line to get my food.
About a few minutes later, it was my turn to grab mine. A large alien with a weird squidlike shape face handed me a bowl with soup in it. I winched when I saw it was bubbly and had some strange meat in them.
He notices my facial he grunts. "What?"
"What kind of meat is in this?" I asked. The tentacle alien face looks down at my soup.
"I don't really know,"
"You don't know?" I gulped.
He snorted. "It could be from orcus galacticus or something. Now move along ye holding the line!" One of the men behind me give me a nudge and I grunted, moving aside for him to pass.
I let out a sharp sigh and walked to the other side to find a table to sit at. I spotted one empty in a corner which was perfect since the table was a bit away from the crew. I sat down with my soup and glanced down at it.
Using the spoon, I scooped a few chunks of meat and brought it close to my face. The smell itself wasn't too bad, but the taste however would be different.
I lick my lips nervously. "Well, like Simba says, hakuna matata," I slup my soup and chew it. After a few seconds, I swallow it and hums.
"Hey, it's not bad. Short of tastes like steak."
While I was eating my soup, I overheard a few pirates speaking and in corner of my eye, some were looking at me. I looked down to avoid their contact and try to enjoy my soup. But then I overheard someone muttering. I looked over my shoulder and saw a bird-like alien, having blue-green peacock feather hair.
Unlike the other pirates, he looks clean with small spectacle glasses on his beak. Like he'd just come from a wealthy home, having a bit snob look on his face. He was writing something down on his notes beside his bowl while eating. I blinked and couldn't help to wonder what he was writing. All of a sudden he stopped his writing.
I swallowed when he perks up as if he sense he was being watched. He turns over to me and I quickly glance away. I breathed and scooped some more meat to finish eating.
"You know it's rude to stare at people,"
I almost choked my food in startle when I heard a person speaking. I coughed and find the person who spoke. It was the same bird alien. He tsks while I use my sleeves to wipe my saliva mix soup off my chin.
"Careful about how much you put food in your mouth unless you want your trachea to open in the wrong lane.
"Well if you haven't... frighten me, it won't go down the wrong tube," I manage to speak. The bird alien watches me still coughing and walks over to grab a cup of water which was beside his bowl.
'Here drink this, it'll soothe your throat." I grab his cup and drink a little. I sighed a second later, putting the cup down after my cough went away.
"Thanks,"
"So you are new to the crew yes?" He sat down in front of me and put his hands together.
I shrugged and kept on eating my soup. "Not really. Once the merchant ship, the Captain made a promise to release me."
"Release you?" He made a laugh. "Don't get your hopes up,"
"What do you mean?" I frowned at him after swallowing my food. He looks at me seriously and leans toward me.
"You are on a ship where many of us double-crossed one another." He spoke lowly. I suggest you be careful about who you are dealing with."
I felt my stomach turn when he says those words. There is no way their Captain will do that. We shook on it.
"But, the Captain and I made a paraly. That is one of the codes," I said.
"And some codes can be broken miss," He replied. "And this Captain you dealt with can be the one you will regret." I was silent as he gets up from his seat. Before he leaves for his table he turns to me.
"By the way, names Nicolas D. Allyrdace in case you wish to talk to me again." As he left, I looked down at my soup. Now losing my appetite for worrying about that bargain.
I huffed and scooted the bowl away. I'm not letting his words get to me. I was determined to be free and find a way to fix my wish no matter what.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Third's person POV
Meanwhile, inside the cabin, B.E.N was on the other side of the room. Sitting on his chair, he was looking through his compass disc. He gulped at how his captain is in a bad mood right now. Due to there being no merchant ships to raid for the evening.
Flint was studying his sphere map while calculating the distance of his other map on his desk that contain the whole Etherium universe. Trying to make him in a better mood, he spoke out.
"Don't worry Captain! I'm sure tomorrow will be the best day to plunder,"
Flint grumbled and snatches his rum bottle beside him. "It better be," The robot gulped at his tone and watched him drink his bottle down.
"Y-you shouldn't drink that much. Remember what Nic said?"
"I know!" Flint barked. "I'm aware of my drink, I don't need a reminder," B.E.N shrinks down from his yell. The whole cabin was quiet for a moment until Flint clears his throat.
'Have you spoken to our new crew member?"
"Oh yes! Yes sir," B.E.N replied.
"And how is she?" He added.
The robot almost smiles. "She sounds wonderful! Even though I think she could be homesick." Flint raises one of his eyebrows.
"Homesick you say?"
"Yep," B.E.N nodded. "I didn't know this paraly you and her made was the key for her to go home."
"Hm how interesting," Flint hummed while playing with his half-empty bottle of rum. And then asks this question.
"Had she said why she wants to go home?"
"Well, I think she's scared of staying here sir. Which I understand why since being on your ship is scary," Then B.E.N looks down sadly. "Still though, I'm going to miss her when she leaves,"
Flint almost smirked when he saw his robot looking gloomy. For him, it was the perfect way to have this woman stay longer. He pretends to act in sympathy for him.
"Aww don't worry B.E.N. She won't be leaving anytime soon."
"Really?"
"Sure," Flint replied. "If you try convincing her how my ship is not that scary she might change her mind. Calling her parlay off,"
"Oh maybe I can," His robot grinned. "I can show her being on a ship won't be that bad, after my experience of course." He points to himself proudly.
And then spread his arms out excitedly. "And we're going to be best friends in the whole galaxy,"
"Ah, I'm sure you both will," Flint chuckled darkly. His plan was coming along good than he expected. Tomorrow he might be able to find out her secret sooner. And whatever the secret she is keeping, he will make sure to make her spill it all out.
Note
As a computer science major (yes, I know I'm evil), nothing I hate more than people calling everything ai. Both companies and individuals. AI isn't even a real thing it's just a marketing term that gets rebranded every few years. There is an evil part to it (the environmental impact and ethical concerns) but that's primarily to do with LLMs and generative AI, neither of which is actual AI just something that imitates the desired goal of AI.
True AI doesn't exist, and that's why they're selling this technology as fancy Google searches and image generators. They invested billions of dollars into hopefully getting that 70s sci-fi kind of AI and robotics only for it all the fail as computers fundamentally cannot think like humans. So all you get is a close approximation, except that approximation is so unreliable they have to mass market it to individuals rather than use it in the advanced technological way they wanted.
At least what has been revealed or shared with the public.
Again, as someone who studies this stuff, there is some level of fascination for AI and LLMs but not chatgpt and openai but the actual programs that are used to develop this software. But I just don't wanna use that junk because it's trash.
The only reason they're forcing this crap onto us is because they know it's useless and a colossal waste of money. Decades of failed experimentation.
It's so annoying watching people rightfully critique AI only to devolve into that crazy "what if AI takes over the world" "what if it becomes sentient" like it can't even imitate thought. Everything it says is programmed to say. The responses you get from these chat bots were written by humans paired with data the bot collected. You fuck around with them enough you will quickly pick up on the patterns and can easily infer what the dialogue options were.
It's just garbage tech recycling existing technology to create a new technology that is still sucky at its job. And companies are buying into it because they're lazy and don't give a rats ass about the quality of the end product anyway. AI has many problems and poses a huge threat to society, but its danger lies in how it's used and not the tech itself because it's garbage. Cool if you understand programming and just how hard it is to get a computer just to sort 10 numbers and therefore can appreciate the brilliance of LLMs. But functionally, it's all just slop and trash and needs to get out of everything.
Tldr: AI is bad because of its moral and ethical costs. It is not dangerous in the sense that's it's too powerful. Computers are very stupid and are extremely human dependent. Any flaw is either intentional or evidence of how stupid computers and AI are
This is so random but I love it.
I’ve also been skeptical of all this AI stuff… sometimes I see videos for products with “AI” and it seems like a meaningless term, like another word for “algorithm” except supposedly smarter and more expensive.
There’s so much hype but nothing about AI has really impressed me. It does seem like a marketing scam.
So cool that you have that insight!!!
