12. favorite character to write about this year

I very much enjoyed writing from Oliver’s POV this year for both Andante and the latest chapter of Finale. As developed in this fic series, the character was probably more romantic than I’d initially planned him to be. Definitely as thoughtful but perhaps more deliberately blind as well. I enjoyed imagining how he saw Elio, how beautiful he thinks he is without actually saying those words.

His long, aristocratic nose. Lips, full at the bottom and curling with expressiveness on top; two stories happening at once. Eyes, mostly-green (this was something you used to say to him: other colors, yes—but mostly green) with a slim ring of brown flaring around the pupil, bits of gray on the edges. How they always look a little sad no matter how hard you make him laugh. Jaw, sharp. Freckles. Everywhere. Scars. Birthmarks. Long fingers. Long toes. Long legs. Long torso. Slim, hairless thighs. The skin there cool and smooth. The way his mouth always hung open a little, and you had to stop yourself from putting yourself in there, in every possible way.

15. something you learned this year

That I am very lucky to have so many wonderful writer friends who have provided an incredible amount of support. It was a difficult year from, had some medical stuff go down that threw me for a loop and people were so kind to me while I wrote my way through it, if that makes any sense.

Huge shout-out to @cheshirecatstrut who had to read so much garbage not in her fandom and helped me more than words can say.

24. favorite fic you read this year

I read so many great fics this year, I could never have just one. @bartbarthelme recommended a Teen Wolf fic called No Homo that made me laugh for an entire day. Definitely a fave now.

He just about closes the browser window, but ends up clicking on the personals section for shits and gigs.

It’s something he does occasionally. Usually, it’s thirsty gay dudes looking for a dick to hop on, and sometimes he gets a laugh from the wording, and sometimes it’s weird fetishy shit, and a lot of dick pics. It’s entertainment enough when he’s gotten bored of trawling through reddit.

Tonight is the usual, someone looking for a blowie, someone looking for a “spicy latina to macarena”, whatever that means, he’s no expert but that sounds a little racist. But he’s sitting there and he gets a really fucking weird idea that might be the most brilliant thing he’s ever thought of.

What if he put up an ad for a friend? A test friend. And he’s pretty sure he knows the ultimate friendship test.

He does it before he can worry about it, puts it up and sits back to admire his genius.

I have way more than one. Because I just finished shaming her for breaking my heart into a thousand pieces by deleting her work over and over again, I’ll say it was a pleasure discovering the work of @bartbarthelme. Economical, funny, sexy--Bartie packs a lot of feeling into short blasts of writing, particularly when it settles into her sweet spot: the unusual, near-exotic joys of day-to-day domesticity.

31: Favorite villain in a book?

For some reason, whenever I try to think of a book villain that made me super angry, the first one that comes to mind is Dolores Umbridge from Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. I just remember being so incredibly frustrated while reading that book. Like my shoulders would bunch up into my neck every time there was a “hem hem” anywhere. So I guess maybe it’s her?

first of all, yes i love luke and lorelai!! i think i actually probably ship them slightly more than rory and logan, but the two ships are pretty equal to me

i ship rory and logan because i think they have really great chemistry. i feel like they challenge each other but also really understand each other too. they’re very well-matched intellectually

they just fit to me, like logan was the perfect guy for rory. i think they’re super compatible without being uninteresting...basically, their relationship is what rory describes to paris when paris asks her how to know when a guy is right for her. i know that scene is meant to be about jess but i feel like it applies to her relationship with logan very well

i won’t discuss the revival lmao because their relationship in that is a disaster and doesn’t reflect too kindly on either of them. but as for the original series, yes, i just think they were perfect for each other

In which Elio is in the mood for love.

Oliver reclined on the settee, one foot dangling over the curved arm, the other tapping lightly on the ground. He pressed his reading glasses up to the bridge of his nose, a shaft of afternoon light falling over the book he held.  I was in a wicked, metaphorical kind of mood and sauntered over to him, climbing onto his lap, forcing him to set the book aside.

“I’m trying to read,” he said, with mock exasperation.

“I couldn’t dream of reading. I only have eyes for you.” I waggled my eyebrows at him.

“Please don’t start that.”

“Your voice is music to my ears.”

“That’s just plain trite.”

“I feel the earth move under my feet/I feel the sky tumbling down---”

Oliver’s face broke into a grin. “You’re singing now?

“---tumbling down.”

“Kill me now.”

“Love bites, baby.”

“Are we vampires? That’d be something, because I think I just died of second-hand embarrassment.”

“If I have to die, let me die of love.”

“Oh, good, at least we’ve graduated to hyperbole.”

Somewhere, in our apartment, the phone rang. Most likely Manuel who’d promised to call us about dinner at the weekend.

“Thank god for the interruption. If you could just move a little to the...no, no, not like that,” he groaned when I ground down against his groin. “Elio, I should answer that.”

“Let the world fall down around us.”

“Elio…”

“I’m in the mood for love.”

“Now really, this thing you have for clichés, it’s downright---”

I grabbed Oliver’s face with both hands, the phone ringing once more before going silent.

“Light of my life, light of the world, that’s what you are to me,” I whispered.

A tiny gasp escaped his lips. I nodded triumphantly, as if to say, you liked that one, didn’t you? His eyes fell to my mouth, the pink tip of his tongue darting out to moisten his lips and I resisted the urge to punch the air. I knew what would come next.

“I guess...I guess they can just leave a message.”

People fuck in beds usually? Ha ha ha. I just realized this and understand it makes me sound very vanilla but I think I just want people to be comfortable, OKAY? Oh wait, someone gets a blowjob in a fake zen garden in Break Me From This Rule (You’re The Worst). That’s the outlier.

I have something coming up where people fuck in a bathroom so maybe there will be more outside-of-the-bedroom excursions in my fic future. #2019 Fic Goals!

So I’m rewatching gilmore girls (it’s been about two years since my last one so it was about time) and naturally I’m craving some literati fics but I can’t find any of the really awesome ones that I’ve read in the past.

I prefer ones that take place during or after the original series, not a big fan of the post-revival because I’ve repressed a lot of that bc of the lack of literati but I’ll still read them.
