beware  of  this  cryptic  gift,  it’s  not  what  it  appears  …  still,  @roastyoualive  have  received  a  strange  starter  bestowed  by  none  other  than  wednesday  addams  herself.

“it’s  impressive  that  you  can  cheat  death.”  she  uttered,  breaking  the  booming  silence  that  reigned  before  she  joined  warren.  truth  was,  she  was  interested  in  the  matters  of  avoiding  death,  having  heard  stories  from  her  uncles  for  as  long  as  she  could  remember.  “i  was  actually  wondering  if  there’s  a  way  others  can  achieve  it.  others  that  don’t  share  your  powers.”  the  dice  have  been  cast,  her  offering  on  a  silver  platter,  “do  you  have  such  knowledge?”  she  queried,  rims  of  her  pout  contorting  into  what  could’ve  been  deemed  as  a  phantom  of  a  smile, an  enigmatic  flicker of  amusement  dancing  in  those  obsidians  of  hers.

Logan strolled into his office, immediately making a b-line for his desk. He was running late. After playing dress up to get more funding out of business wackos, it was right back to the school to deal with something about stink bombs going awry in the science wing, and after attempting to air out the whole place, he was racing back to his office to try and make it in time for his next student appointment.

New students, transfer students, exchange students--the fuckin' file was here somewhere. Even under all the annoyance at having to dig, there was a little bit of pride in seeing just how much the school had grown since its opening. Not that he really had a chance to ever stop and admire it, 'cause right now, the kid whose file he was actually looking for got escorted in. Logan waved him over to the sofa as he kept on digging, opening a drawer in the hopes of finding what he was looking for there.

"C'mon in, kid, take a seat. Sorry, day's been busy. Yer Warren Peace, yeah? Were you an exchange or transfer student?"

in another life, he'd commanded fear and respect by something as simple as being in a room. a lifetime ago, he'd been able to make people wither with a glance, beg and plead as he walked toward them through the flames he moved through as though they were a part of him. people have maintained a healthy fear of him even in prison- the guards had a hilarious tendency to scuttle and scramble like roaches should he have even moved too quickly- power dampeners or not.

but something about the sight of his boy reduces him to a puddle. maybe it's the fact warren had been a squishy-faced little baby the last time he'd gotten to see him, that he's now taller than him, that every missed birthday and milestone seem to hit him in the chest at the same time and leave him struggling for breath- his tears are nothing but steam.

he surges forward like the tide, arms firmly locking around his son, his beautiful boy who he's missed so much it feels like an ache somedays.

a beat, and then, realization sets in because what she just said? can be interpreted in more than one way. "i was talking about the spring rolls." sure she is. "sorry. i'm so sorry. i'll just---yeah, frozen vocal chords starting now." which is her way of saying she'll stop talking.

     HE KNEW HE WAS BEING FOLLOWED. his senses had picked them up about a block back, but he couldn’t get a glimpse of who, exactly, was tailing him in the city crowds. all he could say was that he knew someone was. but, more importantly, he also knew the person who had come to help him out. well --- sort of.

     MILES DIDN’T KNOW HIM, BUT SPIDER-MAN DID. he’d slipped the hero lunch a few times from one of his favorite chinese food spots. miles was pretty sure he was like him --- not in a spider way, but in a powers way --- but he couldn’t prove that yet. he should have been worried about other things ( this was pretty coincidental. how’d he know the person was following him? &, oh damn it, was he wearing the same shoes he’d been wearing when he swung by for lunch yesterday? ) but, instead, he was just happy to see a face that he already knew was friendly.

    LUCKILY THERE WASN’T A LOT OF PRETENDING ON MILES’ END. it came off as genuine because it was genuine --- two friends greeting each other on the street, at least on his end. he shifted slightly to the side to give warren space on the sidewalk. it was only once they were settled that he lowered his voice to ensure no one else would hear them.

✿   𝟎𝟎𝟏.     Although Artemis enjoys make – up   ( which has taken her years  due it being a subtle trigger from the abuse of her step - mother )   she doesn’t actually apply it that often.   Perhaps she’ll apply a little if she’s got a blemish or two,   when she has to attend a formal event or meeting.   Otherwise?  She’s too lazy to spend time putting it on her face,   she also never really learned how to do anything more than the basics. 

✿   𝟎𝟎𝟐.     Whenever this woman sees a dog,  she always has an urge to dote on it    ( which makes her own hellhound a little pouty )    however she never approaches the owners to ask if she can pet their dog,   her social anxiety is far too high to allow her to do something like that.   So,  she’ll just watch the dog from afar and wish it the best life.

✿   𝟎𝟎𝟑.     Artemis is unable to handle any type of spice within her food,   she can’t even handle pepper.

There were plenty of days when he still felt like a kid, felt like he had to stand on his tip toes and puff out his chest. Raise his voice and be flashy just so the adults around him would hear him. Days where no matter the year it was he still felt like the teenage kid who got consumed by cosmic rays.

That was two decades ago, or ask Reed for the exact math on that. Now he was in the big leagues, was the big leagues. Mighty adult hero who know what the business was and what wasn't.

Sky High. A school for superheroes, for the extraordinary.

He wondered what it would have been like to have a school like that when he was growing up, coming back from outer space and having to go back to high school. Perhaps he wouldn't have burnt Mike Snow and left him with permanent scars, maybe he would have managed his relationship with Dorrie better.

Johnny's here because of Reed, something about community or something. Johnny knows that Reed has noticed that he's been burning low, running on oils. Suggested that he do something good, that's not just flying around New York City saving random pedestrians with Spiderman, but something that was good for the soul.

His brother-in-law connected him with Sky High and all Johnny knows he is here to meet a guy just like him. A kid who burns.

"So you're a fire starter." Johnny says bluntly, sizing the teenager up. "Hit me with it."

Remy's pockets are always full of the most random stuff. He has pant pockets the prebuilt in ones to his coat and the ones he sewed in himself. They contents include playing cards, spare change, bouncy balls, stress balls, rubber ducks, chapstick, plastic figurines. Basically if it's small and he can steal it he has it shoved in his pockets to use as projectiles with his powers.

Yes and no.

Mostly yes.

Warren is intelligent, ruthless in combat (from what I’ve heard), and, considering he works minimum wage, he is able to see the long-term benefits of hard work. He knows the value of reputation, and how to shape said reputation to serve his purposes. He’s become quite the intimidating figure at Sky High.He would do well as a villain, I should think, if he followed my footsteps. Keep in mind I say this based largely off of letters I receive; I have not seen him for myself since he was very small.

As well, he is taking care of his mother in my absence. Though I understand he doesn’t have much of a choice, I still feel grateful to him.

However.

From what I’ve been told - do not ask by who, I will not tell you, nor will I tell anyone else - he’s limiting himself in what he can do. I blame myself and the school equally; I would have liked to be there to teach him how to use pyrokinesis properly. The school was never adequate in that regard. If he didn’t force himself to remain so controlled, there would not be any cafeteria left after the infamous fight, nor would there be any young Mr. Stronghold to act as an irritant in the future. Or, perhaps it isn’t a conscious effort, and he will learn how to burn things properly, with time.

Also, sidekicks, son? Really?

I think he and I need to have a long discussion about standards.

It was nowhere near as bad as everyone made it out to be, but at the same time it wasn’t great, though Jamie’d never really voice this because he loved his dad too much and was doing what he could to defend him. “So, here’s to hoping?” If he had a glass of something he would have raised it, but he settled for a simple shrug.

“How’s everything with you guys?” He glanced around the living room, then headed towards the couch only to sit on the floor and lean against it with his legs crossed. “How’s your mum?”
