enforced care.
the past few months had been a big switch up from what junmyeon had grown accustomed to, but somehow youngjae was still a big part of it all. at first it had been the guilt of june being absent while youngjae went through his collapsing and following termination of his contract with sphere. since june had the time, he had made it a point to try and check in and take care of youngjae, but now it was just routine. youngjae was stuck with him whether he liked it or not.
“heyo!! i brought you soup since it’s cold out.” he chimed as he basically let himself in. june was definitely the peppier one of the two of them, and he knew youngjae would probably just grumble and grunt at him, but june had learned not to take it personally, that’s just how youngjae was. no matter what youngjae said or did, he was getting june’s care and that was that. “eat up~ you need your strength for exams.” he knew youngjae was still in school and the end of the year was approaching. soon he’d be done, and he’d be able to focus on his health a little more. for now, june was taking what he could get. “is there anything you think you might need? i can always run out and grab stuff if you need it.”

* welcome wagon ,
@rkxars
when he first became a trainee, he was always aware of all the new casting events. he liked to pass by the practice rooms often during those times to try and see what the potential new people were bringing, and so he could get a feel for what the company as a whole was looking for. as time went on, however, such news began to elude him for whatever reason---whether it was because the coaches were tired of filling him in (which would be weird because they still always told him about the new people who were coming), or because of a lack of time, or some other unknown cause---which makes him all the more grateful that he’s pestered the staff enough over the years that they give him information about the new people when it’s available.
he learns of the two new incoming trainees the day they’re signed, and so has enough time to prepare his signature lunch boxes the night before. this time, he goes with some kimchi fried rice, chicken katsu, and kimbap, and while it’s a bit simpler than what he’s done in the past, it’s still made with a lot of love and care. with the information he’d been given, he goes on his search for the second trainee during free training time, during which he finds it to be the most convenient, since it offers the most amount of time. sure, it may be harder to find said trainees due to the fact that not everyone is congregating in the cafeteria like during meal hours, but because he gets more time anyway, it evens out.
finally, after about a half an hour of searching, he spots who he’s looking for, and he takes long and quick strides in order to close the gap between them. once he’s within earshot, he begins calling out toward the other, waving him down as he picks up the pace into a light jog. “hey, you!” he yells enthusiastically, a bright smile on his face. once he’s closed the distance, he switches to an inside voice (which some would say is not much of a different from his yelling) and bows in greeting. “you’re the new kid, right? youngjae?” he grins, holding out the lunchbox, which has a sticker placed on it of his own face and name. “i’m park chanyeol, nice to meet ya. welcome to trc!”

❛ flyer two
@rkxars
do you reckon he could take a break and come up with some faster flyer handing out machine or something? would that even be possible? with his stupid brain then he could probably come up with something, the question would just be if he could actually get it to work. because when it came to his experiments it was not surprising when something went wrong. and he doubted the company would be happy if his experiment ended up destroying the whole stack of paper resting against his arm. he literally only just started this venture, he didn’t really fancy getting in hot water so soon.
rolling his neck, rubbing at the back of his hair with his free hand, jordan hummed slightly as he looked around the street in front of him trying to find his next victim. it didn’t take him that long to spot someone promising, grinning as he wandered over. “like k.arma? the girl group?” it was new conversation starter he wanted to try out, “if you do, then good news for you. because i have a flyer here with some information on it. also some other trc events as well.” he picked one of the flyers out, holding it up in front of the other’s face, “it even has pictures.”

RK S-POP TRAINEE MC AUDITION Jang Moonbok - Sphere Entertainment (+npc trainee) Outfit: x Gif Credit: x
The first time the S-Pop auditions had rolled around, Moonbok hadn’t been able to participate for a variety of reasons. One being that he’d just been signed to Sphere and was still trying to get his head around everything to do with being a trainee, including balancing his schooling with training. There was also the fact that after the debacles that had been seasons four and five of the MGAs for him, Moonbok had been a little reluctant to approach anything television related. He’d already humiliated his family twice, he’d no wish to do so again.
But eight months is a long time and he’s grown in confidence and self-awareness since then. So when the next round of auditions had been announced, Moonbok had gleefully put his name forward. Having seen the fun Eunji and Minhee had seemed to have on their shows, he at least wants to try and garner a spot as an MC.
Plus being able to fanboy over his favourite artists and chatter about them non-stop without being yelled at by his parents, roommate or friends to give it a rest?
Perfection.
While he knows he hasn’t some of the qualities Samsung is looking for, as far as he’s concerned, it’s worth a shot. What he lacks in experience in hosting and variety he can make up for in natural charisma and his ability to improvise on the fly. Plus his English is pretty good, thanks to his parents having sent him to a high school that specialized in teaching foreign languages. (Sometimes Moonbok can’t help but wonder if they actually ever wanted him to become a doctor at all.) Sure he has an accent, but (he thinks) his English is still pretty easy to understand and that hopefully it and his natural charms will make up for what he lacks.
So while Moonbok accepts that he has a small chance of getting selected to be an MC, it’s still a chance. And he’s going to seize it with both hands.
Having spent the first two weeks of the month binge-watching IQS and Idol Café (and not just because he wanted to watch his girlfriend either.), Moonbok approaches his given script with a fairly good idea of what he wants to show off in particular during his audition. Finding a partner hadn’t been too hard, he’d partnered up with one of the other trainees he’d made friends with during Sphere’s composing classes. Having paired up frequently with the other male during said classes, Moonbok had initially asked his friend to partner up with him for the S-Pop auditions as a joke, only to be taken aback (but still delighted) by his friend’s immediate and enthusiastic agreement. Apparently, hosting something had always been a dream of the other male’s.
If that wasn’t even more motivation for Moonbok to make sure the audition went as flawlessly as possible, he wasn’t sure what could be.
On the day of the audition, Moonbok and his friend are watching an episode of Idol Café on Moonbok’s phone (albeit on silent mode) as they wait to be called into the audition room, quietly discussing some of finer points of what the hosts do during the show and how they’re incorporating their own personalities into their presenting. Moonbok’s friend begins to make a point about how Jongsuk carries himself when their names are suddenly called out. Hurriedly shutting off his phone and pocketing it, Moonbok and his friend exchange grins and make their way into the audition room and position themselves in front of the judges.
A quick bow and greeting before their given their cue and Moonbok looks directly into the camera with his characteristic grin.
“Hello everyone! Welcome to today’s episode of Idol Café!” he introduces in English, giving the camera a quick customary bow. “I’m Jang Moonbok, one of your hosts for today!” He steps aside slightly and gestures to his friend, who introduces himself in Korean, which gives Moonbok his cue to lapse back into Korean also.
“Today, we’ll be making a special drink for our guests and as well as getting the lowdown on how they spend their free time and what their favourite cafe orders are when they’re out and about!” Moonbok makes a grand sweeping gesture in the direction of their imaginary guests. “Everyone, give it up for NIGHT5!”
As the audition continues, Moonbok and his friend interview their ‘guests’ asking them about their favourite drinks and snacks when they go to their cafe and showing off their ‘high-energy, Go-Go coffee’ (which Moonbok is grateful does not actually exist, for various reasons.) During their interview, he switches back to English a few times to question his ‘guest’ whose first language is Englsih, with his friend translating.
When the audition comes to an end, Moonbok and his friend bow once more, giving cheerful sign-offs in both English and Korean before they’re dismissed. Leaving the room, they both happily chatter about how they feel their audition went and what they could improve on for the future.
Because even if they mightn’t have succeeded this time, who’s to say there won’t be a chance to do something like this again later on?

╰☆╮ EVAL PREP ╰☆╮
This month’s theme was fitting considering the weather they had been having recently. It was hot and humid and horrible and Sungmin was glad once they had announced the summer party. Mostly because he was able to swim and keep cool. The one thing he wasn’t looking forward to was the mass crowd that the party would bring considering all five companies were going to be attending.
Joining a group with his friends and one stranger made Sungmin anticipate what level of performance they would be able to produce by the end of the month. Somin was a talented dancer and rapper that had somehow ended up as his mentee. Moonbok was someone he had known for some time as both males signed to Sphere at the same time. Youngjae was someone Sungmin didn’t know but he was a friend of Moonbok which was enough for him.
Their group consisted of three rappers and one vocalist which made it a little harder to find a song to fit their skill sets. Usually it would be the other way around. It had taken some time but the group had found the perfect song that they could cover while also making it their own.
There were a few parts of the song that had choreography which meant that they had to create their own moves to complete the dance. Sungmin and Somin worked together to complete the broken choreography while also learning and memorising their lines. Creating their own choreography had not been easy but it would be worth it in the end. It added their own touch to the performance and would hopefully hype up and pump the crowd.
Sungmin was always in the zone whenever he rapped and it was as if he became a completely different person when on stage. He had confidence he didn’t have normally. Rehearsing the song and dance took a lot of his time and Sungmin had not been able to see his boyfriend as much as he would have liked but he knew Seungkwan was just as busy as he was now that he was a trainee. The thought of Seungkwan signing with a company still made him feel proud. Seungkwan had been through a lot and he deserved this.
By the end of the month the group had nailed the choreography and lyrics. They had added their own unique touches and personalities to the song when each member sang or rapped. They synced well when dancing. Now all they needed was to perform this good during the party and he would be happy. Sungmin was happy with what they had prepared.
Until someone mentioned Hawaiian shirts.

Brand New Star
@rkxars
Tongue poked out in concentration, Dowoon utter oblivious to his surrounding as his fingers tapped out the beat of the song playing on phone. He hummed the song under his breath, grinning when the expected result of ‘Full Combo!’ pops up as the song ends. Claiming the reward of in-game currency Dowoon sits back with a satisfied smile, finally raising his eyes from his phone.
Only to see Choi Youngjae staring back at him with an inscrutable expression, one that Dowoon didn’t like at all. Pulling out his earbuds, he opened his mouth to shoot a customary insult at the older boy, before pausing. He’d never actually found out why Youngjae had bailed out on their group during that evaluation, but it hadn’t been too long afterwards that he’d left Sphere as well. Of course; there were rumors, and while Dowoon rarely paid heed to them, given their nature, starting something would be a supreme asshole move on his part. So instead he settled with giving the older boy a curt nod and took a sip of his (lukewarm) drink before turning his attention back to the game.
His breath hitched and his fingers trembled a little as he hovered over the ‘scout’ button on the game’s gacha page. He’d been working solidly on grinding enough gems to scout all day long. He’d even skipped dinner. Surely the game would reward him with at least one five star card, wouldn’t it? He held his breath and tapped ‘scout.’
A moment’s pause as the results of him gamble play out on screen, then Dowoon let out a howl of frustration, ignoring the reactions of others. Nine regular three star cards and a measly initial four star that he’d maxed out months ago. The game had forsaken him.
“I hate this game so freaking much, what the hell?!” he wailed, tossing the phone, results screen still on display, onto the table in front of him and slumping back into his chair with a whine.

残酷な運命 → Cruel Fate
@rkxars
Ren almost couldn’t remember how long it had been since he’d last seen his little brother. Not since before he’d been sent to jail, at least. That was an incredibly depressing thought. And once he’d been released, he hadn’t been allowed to so much as call out for Takashi, with their father spitefully telling him that his younger brother wanted nothing to do with ‘worthless garbage’ before throwing Ren into the streets. It gave the model almost perverse sense of pleasure to have heard through the grapevine that Takashi had run away off himself not too long after that. But it was always tinged with regret; when his brother had taken off, Ren’s attempts to track him down had fallen to pieces within weeks as all the leads he’d had simply dried up. His little brother had simply disappeared, faded away like a dream.
And yet, Fate intervenes in the strangest and cruelest of ways.
Ren was walking down the street after his shift at work when it happened. Out of the corner of his eyes, he saw a sheet of paper fall from the sketchbook of a person waiting at the bus stop. Automatically, Ren reached out to grab it before it hit the ground.
“Ah, here! You dropped this.” Even though he knew it was rude to look at someone’s private artwork without specifically asking, Ren’s eyes were instinctively drawn to the piece. It looked somewhat familiar. He was no artist, not when it came to the fine arts at least, but he could have sworn he’d seen this style somewhere before.
Hurriedly, he ripped his eyes from the paper to look at it’s owner, holding it out of them to take properly. “Sorry, sorry! I shouldn’t have just started looking....” he trailed away as he finally looked at the person before, words failing him as realization struck. This person was a lot older looking than Ren remembered; his face and body more matured. But this ‘stranger’ in front of him.... There was no mistaking it.
「T-Takashi-kun? 」he choked out in Japanese, all knowledge of the Korean language temporarily obliterated from the shock of seeing his little brother here. In Seoul of all places. 「Is it.... really you?! 」

continued from here [x] @rkxars
He gets called an idiot, and corny, and he just smiles, even giggling softly in his sleepy haze. “Just for you~” He’s laying the cheese on thick, but that’s what you do when you gift someone something on Valentines, right? That’s what he had always you were supposed to do. He hears the small mumbling of a thank you, though, and all of it is worth it. He lights up, grinning widely, and then steps forward and throws his arms around Youngjae’s shoulders. “You’re welcome, Valentine~” He grins, giggling softly again. Maybe he should come around tired more often, he got more affectionate without a full filter on.
“Do you wanna go get some food or something?” His eyes droop slightly, and he rests his head on Youngjae’s shoulder, using it as a temporary pillow. Food sounded so good right now! But a nap would’ve been nice too. Food was probably better though, for Youngjae, he needed to eat. Had to feed him. Yes, things, stuff. Why was the light so bright again? “Let’s go do something if you’re not busy..”
Was June asking Youngjae on a date here? He himself couldn’t even tell. It felt more like wanting to just hang out, but he had also just called Youngjae his Valentine, and inside he wasn’t opposed to it being a date either. Huh, weird. Regardless, whatever it was, he wanted to do it. “C’mon~” He tugs on Youngjae’s arm, as if being cute and annoying would get him what he wanted.

Told You So!
@rkxars
Though he’d never actually say it out loud, Moonbok had ended up having some misgivings about practically forcing Youngjae into first going to the Starbright Auditions, and then to the subsequent TRC audition. He hadn’t thought ahead to what the consequences of a potential rejection might have done for his friend’s mental health.
Thankfully, Tiger JK proved that he could spot the talent in other and had signed Youngjae. Which now meant that Moonbok could be unashamedly big-headed about the whole thing.
“What did I tell you? Hm~? What did I say? Didn’t I tell you you’d succeed?” smirking at the younger boy as they take a break in their evaluation practice (the companies were certainly throwing the new trainees straight into the deep end). Moobok flipped his hair out of his eyes.
“No need to thank me, either. Though if you want to shower me with graditude, I won’t refuse either~”

╰☆╮ I’M VERY VERY GOOD ╰☆╮
Very Good - Block B (line distribution) | @jsominrk, @rkxars & @rkvok
The theme for this month’s evaluation nor the party were the worst things to happen to Sungmin thus far. It was the fact that he had to wear a Hawaiian shirt that Sungmin dreaded the most. He had tried his hardest to convince his group mates to go in a different direction for their performance outfits but to no avail. He couldn’t even remember who had first brought it up, but he made a mental note to beat them once they were done.
He didn’t even understand the reasoning behind the decision. Sure the theme was summer and they were performing at a party, but did that really mean he had to wear a Hawaiian shirt? He had physically shuddered at the idea of wearing something so bright and eye-catching. It physically pained him to put the shirt on and wear it during the performance.
Sungmin was happy to be working with mostly people he knew as it made things easier and he found the groups flowed better. Somin was like his mentee and Moonbok had been a friend since they had both signed to Sphere at the same time. Youngjae was the only one he didn’t know but then again Sungmin wasn’t the most sociable person in the world. If anything, he would probably spend the rest of the party either with or talking to Yena, Sehun, the squad or his boyfriend.
He had opened up a lot this past year and had definitely changed, but he was still obviously somewhat closed off and anti-social when it came to certain things. Large parties and gatherings were not his most comfortable surroundings and he tried to ignore the fact that they were performing at a large summer party attended by all five major companies.
Rehearsals had gone well and he and Somin had worked together to choreograph part of their dance. The aim of this month was to hype the crowd, and they aimed to do just that with their choreography. The song itself was hype and easy to dance to. It was a fun and energetic song that required energy - something he didn’t always have.
The more evaluations he attends, the easier they become. Of course, not all of them are as easy as others and one can never predict what the theme of the next month will be. They definitely kept Sungmin on his toes and he had grown to enjoy that. They tested him and pushed him which was what he needed to help him grow as an artist. This month was no different.
Sungmin still hated the shirts. He hated them with a passion. He felt sick every time he looked down to see what he was wearing. Part of him was hoping it was just a dream and he would wake up at any second but he never did (no matter how many times he pinched himself). He was set to embarrass himself in front of everyone he knew. He hated it.
Standing on stage finally, Sungmin knew he couldn’t turn back. The shirts were part of their performance and he needed to face that face. He got into the zone of ‘Arrow’ and tried his best to ignore the shirts once the music began. The song was fun and hype and Sungmin would be damned if they didn’t involve the crowd and hype them up.
His rap was where he shined as usual and he remembered the routine when he wasn’t rapping. Having three rappers and one vocalist made it a little hard to find a song but it was clear they had chosen well. The performance ended and Sungmin was satisfied.

June Evaluation - Sphere Entertainment Summer Party Evaluation Song: Very Good by Block.B Line Distribution: Here Performing with: @rkxars. @rksungmin and @jsominrk Outfit: x
There’s almost an air of mutiny within the group and Moonbok think he may the one to blame for it. The reason for the unhappiness of the others? The outfits they were all wearing. Hawaiian shirts, a choice that everyone except him seemed to utterly hate. It had been a joke suggestion at first, but somehow it had been ‘decided’ that all of them were going to wear the shirts in spite of the complaints and squabbles.
If he survives this evaluation without one of the other three ending him, Moonbok will consider it a success, regardless of whatever grade they actually get.
Beyond the discontent over the shirts however, Moonbok had enjoyed working with the group all month. There was Sungmin who by now he considered a good friend, and despite all the sniping between himself and Youngjae, Moonbok had been truly happy when the younger male had joined the group without much protest after his triumphant return to being a trainee. And while he didn’t know much about Somin, she’d been an vital part of the group; both she and Sungmin had choreographed the dance for the performance.
Moonbok is hoping that all the work they’ve done over the last month won’t be eroded by the upset of the others. Though as the music starts and they all fall into position, the whole issue of their outfits seems to dissipate and they begin to work as one, doing their best to hype up the crowd.
Ah hahaha! Guess who's back! A yo pop, we did it again man Aight do let's go!
Despite the group being skewed towards rapping (Moonbok feels guilty for not volunteering himself as a vocal when he knows he can pull it off.), they’ve managed to come up with a line distribution that shows off everyone’s strengths. Along with the dance that Somin and and Sungmin have made for them, all of Moonbok’s worries about the group and their outfits are blown out of his mind as they hype both themselves and the crowd up. And as the performance comes to an end, Moonbok can’t help but laugh at how he’d fretted so much over the outfits’ influence on their little show.
(All the same, he keeps somewhat of a wide berth between him and the others once they’re off the stage. Just in case.)
