Riverboat Gamblers took their show at Ivy Room to another level. Texas spit-fire 🔥 right here. Mike Wiebe utilized every inch of the stage, which clearly wasn't large enough to express his mobility. He took to high ground on the table in front of the stage and even drug it out to the center of the room to create a shark frienzed swarming pit around him. Brilliant!!

It must have been so much fun for Lauren Graham to to just execute all of those great lines. I mean, how much fun to sit down and read those scripts and be at the table read and read all those scripts. And I remember those table reads. I mean, she was just like she was getting laughs at the table reads...It's I mean, we're doing is as comedy, but at the end of the day, it's aggressive hostility toward herself, toward other characters, toward her mother, towards me, to where I mean, it's all deflecting, and it's it's denial, it's you know, it's all that stuff. So it's so it's a little bit draining on your energy...Um, but to play it, it's fun and to be the straight man to all those great lines is fun because it's all about timing, you know. It's like it's it's it's all that comedic timing, and she does it so beautifully...[It's the glance. So you two are talking and she sort of says, I mean unless there's something, you know, like standing in your way, and you're like, no, you know, there's nothing standing in my way. But the expressions on both your faces is like we love each other.] Right, It's like a couple of riverboat gamblers holding holding great hands and nobody's gonna..She had you know, she has that job of appearing vulnerable but still guarded and still doesn't want to let in let on to me what her intentions really are, but it's kind of obvious to an audience watching...The Gilmore world is one world. Luke's the stars Hollow world is another world. And Luke's world isn't is a completely separate universe and they and rarely do they they cross the streams and when they do it can be very explosive...And he's, you know, he's he's being very guarded because he oh my god, I mean, how can he.. here's the thing that confuses me and I played it is he in love with Rachel or is he in love with Lorelai? And I think I think that he is trying. I think there are residual feelings for Rachel that he can't avoid, but they aren't as deep as his feelings for Lorelai. And he's there's he has no choice, but life thrown him this, you know, this sort of situation, and he's doing the best he can with it because you know, he's not a he's not a jerk. He's not going to be mean to Rachel, right, So he's kind of hanging in there as a as much of a friend and and a lover and a boyfriend as he can because it's almost like an obligation. Since I'm building up to run a Ravenloft campaign using Shadowdark rules at some point this year, I wrote up a setting-appropriate Rumors table; this reflects 3e-era lore because the Arthaus era fucks and 5e sucks. Without further ado,

60-61. The druids of Immol will enchant a blade for whoever leads a raid into the Forlorn Vale

62-63. A boatload of immigrants has arrived from famished Paridon... with impostors among them

64-65. Rats and ratcatchers in Pont-a-Museau are contracting a disease that drives them mad

66-67. A swordsman from Rokushima has claimed a bridge and demands to duel any who cross it

68-69. The Boritsi family is offering a reward for the return of a holy relic from their chapel

86-87. A power struggle is brewing between two high-ranking leaders of the Kargat

88-89. A mad monk has been caught in the act of burglary and refuses to explain why

90-91. For the first time in years, the Carnival is headed back down the Old Svalich Road

92-93. The prettiest girl in the next town is sleepwalking and waking up on Old Craven's grave

94-95. The Tepestani Inquisition warns that a vile fey of darkness has escaped and roams the land

96-97. Honest Igor was just here the other day, but left in a hurry when he heard you were coming

98-99. A freestanding staircase with a door at the top has been sighted in the forest nearby

00. Azalin Rex has hired someone to explore the furthest corners of the Mists for unclear reasons

(No real plot spoilers here, just some details) 

It would be a shame if those of you who don't read Star Trek novels missed this mental image from Planet of Judgment:

A juvenile scorpion-centaur creature that smells like sour milk faces off against McCoy in a high-stakes poker game based on a late nineteenth-century "riverboat gambler romance that had always been dear to Bones."

Given the aggressively boring title and cover art (at least the version I have), this book must be a deliberate loyalty test. Only those brave enough to crack the spine and subject themselves to a wall of microscopic text are rewarded with such juicy tidbits: Honey McCoy's sex calendar, Spock's Minneapolis vacation, huge snake battles, vivid descriptions of Kirk's sweat, Chapel and Uhura taking a moat bath, high seas LARPing, and a happy hairy guy who has no penis, thumbs, ears, eyes, or nose, but takes a lot of naps. Wait, did I mention Spock and McCoy chit-chatting about sex? All that and more and a plot (kind of?) in just 151 pages. Wow.
