plotted starter // @riveir
“River, look at us!” She feels dreadful. And not just because there are sloppy mascara tears running down her cheeks as she shoves another glob of packaged cooke dough straight from the wrapper into her mouth with two careful fingers. Amy feels dreadful because that’s what the world is -- positively dreadful. “You’re beautiful. I’m beautiful. It’s our last year of college and we’re here, in your fancy bachelor pad ..... crying. Like widows. And over what? Men.” She’s appalled. And watering it down for the most part. River is upset over the position the world asks him to be in and Amy’s upset with the weight she can’t seem to get off her shoulders despite all of her valiant, chin-up efforts. But it’s easy to blame men. And Amy wouldn’t mind if something came easily for a second. “Everything comes so easily to them,” she huffs, defeatedly falling back against River’s chest. Her hand swings back like a fainting victorian woman in a painting, offering a ball of cookie dough to him without looking backward. “We ought to be better than this. But I don’t feel better than this. You deserve to be with someone your parents will adore. And you. Lord knows what I deserve but it can’t be William Henry Radford, president of the business fraternity. It simply can’t be. No matter how lofty his prospects.”

Writer, producer and director Ryan Murphy has been making his mark on TV for decades, turning his queer lens on every genre imaginable: medical shows, horror anthologies, musicals, and political dramas. Now, he's tackling the greatest cinematic behemoth of them all: Hollywood.
After the success of his FX series Nip/Tuck, American Horror Story, and American Crime Story, as well as the success of his FOX musical drama Glee, Murphy began producing straight-to-streaming content for Netflix with 2019's The Politician. Now, he's teaming up with Netflix on a new project entitled Hollywood. Here is everything known so far about this forthcoming series.
10 Darren Criss Will Star And Serve As Executive Producer
Darren Criss won both an Emmy and a Golden Globe for his portrayal of serial killer Andrew Cunanan in American Crime Story: The Assassination of Gianni Versace. The talented young actor is also known for his performances in Glee and in various Broadway performances, as well as for his musical talents.
Criss announced via Instagram that he will be cast in and producing Hollywood. All that is known so far is that his character's name is Raymond.
9 The Series Will Be Set In The 1940s
The 1940s were an interesting decade for Americans. They spent the first part of the decade at war, and then the second part of the decade reeling from that war. While World War II provided an economic boom, the death and destruction perpetrated by it in both the Pacific and in Europe left many people feeling dismayed.
While Hollywood spent the first part of the 20th century evolving into an innovative cinematic hub, things began to change in the 1940s.
8 The Show Focuses On The Golden Age Of Hollywood
The 1940s signaled the decline of the Golden Age of Hollywood, where the possibilities for cinema seemed endless. Due to World War II and then the Hays Code, which sought to censor lascivious content, Hollywood's creative abundance began to dwindle by the end of the decade.
It's uncertain how the show will incorporate this history into its narrative, but it's bound to include a lot of glitz and glamor and, maybe, some struggles.
7 The Normal Heart Cast Members Jim Parsons And Joe Mantello Are Participating
Jim Parsons is best known for playing the theoretical physicist Sheldon Cooper in the long-running CBS sitcom The Big Bang Theory, while Joe Mantello is a seasoned Broadway and stage actor who has worked on productions of Wicked, Take Me Out, and Angels in America.
Ryan Murphy adopted the play The Normal Heart, which focuses on the NYC AIDS epidemic during the early 1980s, to film for HBO in 2015. Both Parsons and Mantello acted in the film, and they will work with Murphy in Hollywood. Parsons will play a man named Henry Wilson, and Mantello will play a man named Dick.
6 It Covers Multiple Narratives, Like American Horror Story
It's been revealed that Hollywood will cover multiple narratives and intertwining story arcs, a dramatic technique already on full display in Murphy's well-known horror anthology series American Horror Story.
Even though the details of Hollywood's plot have been kept from the public, Murphy has called it a "love letter to Tinseltown." The cast, much like the cast of American Horror Story, will be composed of mostly young and attractive actors whose characters are hoping to make it big in the motion picture mecca.
5 Tony-Nominated Actor Jeremy Pope Is Involved
Jeremy Pope made his Broadway debut just two years ago in 2018, starring in a production of Choir Boy and then in the musical about The Temptations, Ain't Too Proud. Although he didn't win, Pope received two Tony nominations in 2019, one for each performance.
All that is known about Pope's role in Hollywood is that he will play a man named Archie. This will be Pope's television debut, and it's bound to be an exciting one.
4 It Will Debut On Netflix In May 2020
Fans won't have to wait too long for Hollywood. An exact date has not been released, but it's slated to drop on Netflix sometime during May 2020. Like Murphy's other ventures, it will be a star-studded affair, featuring actors like Dylan McDermott, Laura Harrier, Maude Apatow, Jake Picking, and Holland Taylor.
Taylor is the partner of Sarah Paulson, who has appeared in every season of American Horror Story. She also won an Emmy for her performance in the Murphy-produced American Crime Story: The Trial of OJ Simpson. She is not slated to star in Hollywood.
3 The Tone Will Be Exciting And Optimistic, Like Glee
While some of Murphy's works can be dark and gory, Hollywood's tone will be uplifting and fun, much like Glee. Actor David Corenswet describes it as "sexy and optimistic. It's really about young people and the excitement of young people seeking opportunity."
No information has been released yet as to whether or not the show will have a musical component, but considering the cast, it may be hard for some of them to not break out into song.
2 The Legendary Patti LuPone Has Been Cast In It
Patti LuPone is a Broadway legend. Anyone who has seen the Will & Grace episode where Jack meets her by chance will also know she's an icon for gay men all over America.
She will play a woman named Avis in Hollywood, but that is all that is known about her role so far. LuPone has won Tonys and Grammys for her contributions to stage musicals, and she is famous for her take on Evita Peron in the Broadway play Evita.
1 The Politician's David Corenswet Will Also Star And Executive Produce
Corenswet is a relatively unknown actor who landed his first leading role in Murphy's 2019 Netflix series The Politician, set to return at some point for a second season.
This exceedingly handsome young man, who plays the sexually fluid and sensitive River Barkley, will play a man named Jack. Corenswet, despite his lack of experience, was promoted to executive producer for Hollywood by Murphy, who hopes to give the new star insight into how making television shows works.

continuously updated important links pinned here !!
rules + verses + biographical info , also linked in the description , found here.
interest tracker found here.
main points of canon divergence found here ( and also in the bio linked in the description ).
where else can you find katie?
@riveir : river barkley of netflix’s the politician , headcanon / au - based ( primary )
@girlgilmore : rory gilmore of gil.more girls ( secondary )
@redbedroom : peyton sawyer of one tree hill ( teritary )
@worldsalight : multi - muse ( low activity )
important things to note under the cut.
i do prefer writing finn in au scenarios vs. gl.ee canon, whether it be exploring the rest of his college life / what things would have been like for him in the later seasons, adulthood things, or crossovers with other fandoms. this also means that i do prefer interactions to be plotted; if you ever wanna chat about something please just send an IM, or ask for my discord!
i’m iconless but that doesn’t mean you have to be. whether or not you use icons in our threads is totally up to you and i literally do not mind either way, i just get nervous that people think i’m expecting them not to or whatever and that’s totally not the case. if you worked hard on your icons and you think they look super cool feel free to use them. i bet they ARE super cool and i’d love to see them :)
i do have canon divergences that are both included in finn’s bio in the description and listed specifically in a separate post linked in the pinned post that i like to stick with. i’ve been kinda lenient about it if stuff i stay away from has come up but i do diverge from those things for a reason and it’s because i just don’t want to write them for one reason or another, and if you want to plot something otherwise please just let me know <3 otherwise, just please be aware that there are some things i change / exclude.
i am totally open to shipping, as long as our muses have mutual chemistry. the only hard no-ship i have on here in terms of what goes around the glee fandom is finn + kurt; the bottom line on that one is that they are brothers and refer to each other as such. i don’t really ship finn’s canon ships (finchel/fuinn) as they’re written on the show, but i’m totally down for writing shippy stuff for those relationships as long as it’s plotted with some divergence from canon we can both agree on. if you write quinn or rachel and send a shippy meme or stuff i’ll answer it in canon context as a default because i’d want to open the door for plotting / shipping, but i’m way more comfortable getting some depth going and stuff before it goes beyond that. an important note on that can be found here.

PostDoc: UCalgary.SalmonEvolution
The Rogers Lab at the University of Calgary has a PDF opportunity to work on Pacific Salmon evolution and genomics on Vancouver Island, British Columbia Start date: April 1, 2019 or earlier Salary: 46,000 annually for two years; standard University of Calgary PDF benefits package Deadline to apply: Review of applications will start asap and continue until the position is filled Project: Sustaining Canada's natural resources and food supply for future generations is a rapidly growing challenge that requires an understanding of how populations will respond and adapt to current and future environmental stressors. Salmon produce food and recreation for the people of the Pacific Northwest and are the keystone species of coastal ecosystems and human economies within this area. Yet, salmon populations are under pressure and we do not understand the epigenetic and genetic factors that influence their odds of survival. In particular, while hatchery programs release millions of fish yearly, it remains unclear how many of these released salmon survive and whether they contribute to increasing the wild population size. The PDF will join a unique and growing partnership between the Nitinat River Hatchery, the Bamfield Marine Sciences Centre, Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO) and the Ditidaht and Huu-ay-aht First Nations to test the environmental and genomic consequences of alternative hatchery salmon rearing practices. The PDF will work closely with Dr. Kristi-Miller-Saunders (DFO) and Dr. Brad Anholt (University of Victoria). Our ability to raise thousands of Coho salmon families used in enhancement programs under different rearing conditions is a unique and powerful opportunity to understand how hatchery rearing practices may impact salmon survival and the genetics of domestication. More info on the position and our group can be found here: http://bit.ly/2EoTPRT An application package consisting of a Curriculum Vitae and the names of three references should be emailed as a single PDF to [email protected]. The BMSC is a world-class teaching and research facility located in traditional territories of the Huu-ay-aht First Nations, on the outer west coast of Vancouver Island, Canada. Our campus is situated on 65 hectares in Barkley Sound with access to a remarkable diversity of marine, terrestrial, freshwater and cultural sites of the North East Pacific basin. Located in the heart of Canadas Pacific Rim National Park, the town of Bamfield has a small but exceptionally vibrant community that shares a history of trust and collaboration with the Huu-ay-aht First Nations. The town is also the northern terminus of an iconic Canadian Trail, the West Coast Trail. The stunning surroundings of the rain forest, deserted beaches, uninhabited islands, rugged coastline, and world class diving inspire creativity and discovery [email protected] "Sean M. Back from the BLOG Dead!!!
Ok! so it’s been awhile since I have done a race report or wrote anything about my Ultra Ventures…and to be honest, I dislike writing. I’ve been putting it off for a while now since my last report back in spring 15′ (See below). One thing for sure since my last report, is that for the remaining of 2015 and 2016, I’ve been pretty busy being a father, a husband, working on the renovations of our new shop in the Historic Downtown of E’Town. (Which by the way, we LOVE) and in between some running; I have been participating and learning so much from all my Ultra races. It truly has been a BLAST!!! Sometimes I wonder how in the heck am I able to do it all. BUT! 2017 promises to be even bigger!! And NO! don’t expect a BLOG every week or month ALA Loloruns or Bluegrass Runner…Lori and Tony are great at running and writing, I just run…..;)
Since running my first Hundred Miler at Umstead in the Spring of 2015 (which is taking place this weekend), the remaining of 2015 and 2016 I was able to complete some amazing Iconic races to include a Half and Full Ironman with a few training Marathons in between.
In 2015, some of the major Accomplishments to mention were: Pistol 100K (2nd OA), Lovin the Hills 50K (4th OA), Umstead 100 (10th OA; 16:57), Boston Marathon (2:57), Ironman Louisville (11:34), NYC Marathon (3:04) and Tunnel Hill 100 (6th OA; 17:39).
And then there was the EPIC 2016!! Pistol 100 Miler (6th OA; 18:52), Boston Marathon (3:20), FDF Marathon (Derby Marathon) (Pace 3:25)/ and then Backside Trail Marathon (1st OA 3:55) B2B challenge, Keys 100 (4th OA; 21:01), Badwater 135 (29:30; 12th OA), and Javelina Jundred (34th OA; 21:58, 4 UTMB points).
2016 was the most memorable year for me. The ultimate goal was to start the year to secure my third 100 miler early in the year and apply for 2016 Badwater which would take place later that summer. With a minimum qualification resume submitted, I was lucky enough to be selected to compete at the iconic Death Valley run in July with an elite wave start time. I couldn’t believe it at that moment but then it all sank in and I quickly realized that I needed to start training to run in HOT weather! All of my previous 100 milers were in mild to cold conditions, so this was all new to me. So I decided to make the famous “Keys 100″ a training run for Badwater, and that IT WAS. This was one BRUTAL 100 miler! I managed to survive and finish but not before paying the price of loosing ALL of my toe nails, yes ALL! I still have nightmares of “Hell’s Tunnel”, “7 Mile Bridge” and how hot and humid it was that day (Hottest K100 on record). Jeff (my crew chief), Maddie (my wife) and I learned from that experience and we took notes from lessons learned at K100 to implement a game plan for BW.
Tumblr media
Badwater lived up to its name. “World’s Toughest” This race attracts the best and craziest Ultra runners in the world. 135 Miles of beauty and pain from the remote desert valley to the high point of Mt Whitney.  No words can describe the feeling of running and being around so many amazing people for over 29 Hrs. This particular race is one that I would come back again in the future for sure!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
People always ask me, So what’s next? At my current age 46, my window is narrowing on attempting to finish extreme Ultra races. My goal before I’m 50 is to complete some of the most Iconic and toughest Ultras out there. Yes! And why not right? That's what keeps it interesting and challenging right?.....that goes for any Ultra but with so many famous and extreme Ultras out there this is a short list of what I'm aiming to achieve in the next 3-4 years (hopefully): Leadville 100, H.U.R.T.100 (Hawaii), Orcas 100, Western States, HardRock 100, Spartathlon (Greece), UTMB (France, need 11 more points for 2018), Marathon des Sables (Sahara Desert), Fat Dog 120 (Canada), Tor Des Geants (Italy), an Ultraman, and just for fun Barkley Marathon ;) (At least a fun run).
Yes, Some of these are a long shot at getting in with their lottery selection process or points qualification system making it harder to accomplish within the next 3-4 years. But with a little luck from the Ultra gods and patience, it looks like this year I’ll be able to attempt two from this list.
I’m calling 2017 the year of the “Trail”. With six 100 milers completed I haven’t yet completed a “True” trail 100 so far. Javelina Jundred was a desert trail ultra but lacked the technicality of a traditional hard trail 100 out there!
2017 Race schedule:
April 17: Boston Marathon (3rd and maybe last)
April 29: KDF Derby Marathon Pace team (3:15)
April 30: Backside Trail Marathon (Back to Back Training Trail Run)
May 19: Cruel Jewel 100 (108 miles, 33K Vertical Gain, 95% Technical Trails, 6 UTMB points) OUCH!
June 17: Mohican 100 or 50 Miler (Depending how I feel) OR
July 29: Burning River 100 Tentative (6 UTMB)
Aug 18: Leadville 100 (100% trails, 18.2K Vertical gain at elevations of 9,200 to 12,600 feet)
Sept 29-30: Spartathlon 153
Spartathlon will definitely be our “A” race this year! This historic ultra it’s known for its fast hard cut offs early in the race and 36 hour overall time limit making it difficult to finish with an average 43% finish rate (Compare to Badwater at 78%). Here is some historic facts about this race from their website.
“SPARTATHLON is a historic ultra-distance foot race that takes place in September of every year in Greece. It is one of the most difficult and satisfying ultra-distance races in the world because of its unique history and background. The Spartathlon revives the footsteps of Pheidippides, an ancient Athenian long distance runner, who in 490 BC, before the battle of Marathon, was sent to Sparta to seek help in the war between the Greeks and the Persians. According to the ancient Greek historian Herodotus, Pheidippides arrived in Sparta the day after his departure from Athens.”
