If anyone's wondering why I deleted the last post I reblogged about Carlos and Charles looking like they're using the same small boat with a blue and white interior, it's because I did some digging and the photo of Carlos in that particular boat was from two years ago in Mallorca. Charles' photo came from the Peroni shoot on Lake Como in Italy two weeks ago. Seems to be just a coincidence in terms of what brand and model the boat was.

Chapter 9 - RESEARCH FOOTNOTES

I think Wen Qing would dress in something like the first picture below when she’s not in semi-disguise like she was at the party. When she’s dressed properly as Jiang Cheng’s business partner and wife (and Wei Wuxian’s business partner as far as their syndicate is concerned) she dresses to the nines, all precision and timeless, expensive fashion just because she can do that now after years of financial stability. Also she’d absolutely rock a sleek curled beehive like the second photo below, I just know she would. I think she and Jiang Yanli would look so good as a duo casually taking over the world in similar silhouettes but totally different patterns/colors. Wen Qing prefers the classic dragon and/or modern abstract geometric motifs in shades of red and black (and the more saturated, jewel tone range of Jiang colors when possible), whereas Jiang Yanli wears more florals and/or softer abstract patterns in pastels.

2. The inspiration for Jiang Yanli’s desk at the Yiling office is a bit old fashioned considering it’s a regency-era export and doesn’t really fit very well with sleek 60’s modernism, but I figured the Jiangs are making their clean money by dealing in antiques, which would be the business they do with the Lans to cover their espionage connections with them and the Yiling crew. Plus I just really want her to have fancy things.

3. Jiang Cheng's racing yacht is the 1962 Riva Aquarama. The teal upholstery (and there’s a pinstripe of the same color inlaid around the hull at the waterline) could either be Jiang Cheng's signature purple or else jewel-toned teal is a secondary color for the Jiang so it could be appropriate just like it is, as well.
