The Royal Group: Chapter 1
Ruby, Sapphire, Alex, and Iolite were having an alright day so far. It was barely midday and they had already managed to finish a sword and a number of more mundane objects to sell at the market at the end of the week. Ruby had even completed a fairly complicated special-ordered necklace for one of the local nobles to give to her wife for her birthday. All in all a good day.
But all that work getting done did mean that they had been in the house, working around the forges for several hours straight. So it was probably past time for them to take a break and go outside for a little while. Sapphire would certainly appreciate moving away from the heat for a bit as well.
Gathering up their swords, they touched them together, forming into Link once more before heading out.
It was annoying sometimes, always merging before going out, or only going out one at a time, but they weren’t really comfortable being honest about who they were with any of the locals of this era. Outside of Zelda, of course. The princess of this time had done more for them than they could properly express and they trusted her nearly as much as they had Dot. She took after her who-knows-how-many-greats grandmother, that was for sure.
But as for the rest of the townfolk? Well. Link interacted with them when they needed to, but they were well aware of how the locals thought of them. And honestly had no desire to try and fix the impression that they had made. If people wanted to judge them for how they had acted when they were freshly re-merged and in a new era far from home. Well. That was on them. Link had no time for people like that. They would deal with them in business matters, but nothing else.
Which, unfortunately, meant they keeping up the charade of being one person. Oh well. It wasn’t like they minded being merged. Not really. It was nice, in a way, sharing a body with each other. Ruby often compared it to a nice hug, or cuddle pile. And the others couldn’t really disagree. So there wasn’t any real harm done. They just had to be careful not to talk to each other out loud while in town.
But that wasn’t a problem out here in the forest. Out here they could just be themselves. And if that meant talking to ‘themself out loud then that was fine. There was no one around to see.
Or. At least there usually wasn’t. But the two voices they could hear coming from not far away put paid to the idea that they were alone today. Unfamiliar voices at that.
A small frown worked its way onto their face as they adjusted their path to start in the direction of the people talking. There were two voices. No. Three. And all of them were unfamiliar. Link’s curiosity meant there was no way they weren’t going to investigate these voices, but their caution meant they made their way towards the sounds with quiet steps.
Following the voices led Link to where a small clearing broke up the thick array of trees and brush that made up this particular area of the forest. Link was fairly familiar with this area, so it was child’s play to make their way to a thicker part of the underbrush and peer out at the three people standing in the clearing.
/They look like a set of steps,/ Sapphire’s dry humor cut through their thoughts before any of them could do more than start to take in the people in front of them.
/Sapphire!/ Ruby’s tone was clearly trying to be scolding, but the amusement he was feeling made it hard to take it seriously.
/What?/ Sapphire drawled, amused. /I’m right and you know it./ And, to be fair, she really was. There was a fairly distinct height difference between the three figures.
The shortest stood facing away from them and was maybe a foot taller than Link did, so fairly average in height. And they had long, curly, blond hair with what looked like a pink tint to it. Their tunic was a bright red with a green undershirt and their hat was purple with a blue edge. Needless to say Link approved of their color scheme. Even if the blue was far too light a shade. Though Link could do without the multiple gold adornments they were wearing. From wrist bracers to shoulder pauldrons this person was clearly not ashamed of their wealth. Strangely enough, they didn’t appear to be wearing any pants, despite the fact their tunic only went down to just above their knees.
The next tallest, standing over a foot taller than the first, had short, messy, brown hair and bright blue eyes. Unlike the other two, this person was wearing something that was far more obviously built for protection. Grey leather crossed most of their chest and covered their wrists. All of which sat on top of a blue-green tunic and grey long-sleeve undershirt. Unlike the first person, this one was, in fact, wearing pants. And they matched the shade of the tunic exactly. The whole thing seemed very put together, like it was a set. Well. Almost the whole thing. The only thing that stood out as different was a well-worn red, cloth belt that was wrapped around their waists, under their belts.
The other main thing of note about the second individual were the dark markings they could see lining their face. They were unusual, to say the least. They were too straight and distinct to be scars, but they didn’t look like tattoos either. How odd.
The final figure was another good half a foot or so taller than the second, leaving them towering over the first. Their clothes were of a far different style than the other two, made up entirely of a light and loose-fitting jacket and pair of pants. Both of the articles of clothing were black with intricate designs embroidered on them. Flowers mostly, but Link was fairly sure they caught sight of the symbol of Din on the jacket too. The clothes weren’t anything like Link had ever seen Hyrulians wear before. And if you paired that with the bright red hair and golden eyes that this figure was sporting. Well. There was really only one conclusion.
/She’s Gerudo,/ Iolite noted with interest. /I’m surprised one of the desert people is this far from the desert./
/How do you know they’re a she?/ Ruby asked curiously.
/According to the books I found Gerudo only have one male born every hundred years,/ Iolite explained. /And we’ve already met the male from this century./ Link frowned, mind drifting momentarily to Ganondorf before they mentally shook the thought away
/So most likely she, then,/ Alex acknowledged as they watched the three figures talk.
All three people were clearly armed, with two of them wearing a shield and a sword and the Gerudo woman having what looked like a spear strapped to her back along with her shield. They all held themselves like fighters too, for all they didn’t appear to be currently gearing up to fight. These weren’t people Link wanted to tangle with if they didn’t have—wait.

Separation: Ice and Snow
October 9: Scar Reveal (AI-Less Whumptober)
A 2 on my whump scale (see the series definition for the scale)
Geode would like it to be in the record that they did not enjoy the snow. Even Sapphire, their resident water and ice mage, had too much trauma related to ice and snow to fully enjoy it. So getting dropped on what seemed to be the top of an icy mountain was not their idea of a good time. And it was only made worse by the fact that something appeared to have gone wrong with the portal they had gone through. The whole thing had felt weirder than normal, and for some reason the only other person who had ended up where they were was Twilight. And neither of them had any idea where the rest of their group was. Which, you know, wasn’t good. Even Onyx was missing!
So, naturally, another fun effect to all of this was the headache they were developing from Ruby’s fretting and Iolite trying to figure out what could have gone wrong to cause this.
Geode was just glad that they at least had one of their companions with them. And, to be completely honest, Twilight was probably one of the best to have along with them in this sort of situation. Wolfie’s ability to track was going to be very useful in the near future, plus the cold didn’t seem to bother him once he’d changed into the cold-resistant outfit he had (he’d even shared a set of cold-resistant earrings with them!). The only other person Geode might have preferred would have been Fox. Since Fox seemed to know how to survive in just about any situation, and always had more than enough food and other supplies to help them manage.
But that wasn’t the point right now! The point was the five of them were currently on a frozen mountain top trying to find a safe way down. Twilight had volunteered to carry them down using his magic, but they’d have to go for a while and he’d never flown that long, let alone while carrying someone. So they had decided to save that for a last resort.
Instead, they were plodding their way through way-too-deep snow. Twilight in the lead to press the snow down some so Geode could follow with their much shorter legs.
“Any guesses what era we’re in?” Geode called up, hoping to find something to distract themselves with. “This sort of mountain looks like it could be in Fox’s right? But that can’t be. Since there aren’t any islands in the sky.”
“It could,” Twilight agreed, glancing back. “But it’s not. Unfortunately. If it was, I'd be able to figure out where we are, and get us out of here much faster. But no. It’s not Fox’s and it’s not mine. Doesn’t look like Lorule either. But that doesn’t help us rule too many out, unfortunately.” Geode hummed in frustrated agreement. Ruling three possible worlds out was good, but there were still plenty left to choose from.
“I don’t think it’s Dove’s either. Since we caught sight of what looked like a town down off the mountain. And Dove only has one settlement on the Surface so far.”
“True.” Twilight agreed with a nod, focusing back in front of himself. “Hopefully getting to that town will help us figure out exactly where we are. And with any luck some of our group will be there too.” There was a sharp, worried edge there and Geode caught themself frowning. That was right. With how well Twilight had been after the whole group had formed they’d almost forgotten how desperately Twilight had been to get back to Fox when they first met. The other hero was probably just as desperate to find Fox as they were to find Onyx.
“Don’t worry Twi, we’ll get you back home soon enough.”

Dye, doll, dye
I did a dyeing thing - a white Resinsoul centaur (Dawn) and different vinyl shell parts of an Obitsu 50 cm body (whitey and super whitey).
What I used:
A big shiny pot. Life pro tip - if you have an induction cooktop, check your crappy pot that you ordered from Amazon right away. Amazon sellers are liars.
Lots of towels (water everywhere). Dye (RIT DyeMore is what I used, because it's specifically for synthetics), isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol and a melamine sponge (Magic Eraser) for oopsies, and weed whacker trimmer string for the parts. Plus coffee.
Strung doll parts. NOTE: before I dye resin or vinyl, I soak it in cold water for 10-15 minutes. Resin is porous. Water will help open the pores for a slightly more even dye distribution.
So one thing I see over and over that drives me CRAZY is people dumping the whole bottle of dye directly into the water.
RIT has recipes. Here's the recipe for Fallen Star using "small" items:
It doesn't matter which small item you pick - the recipe is the same. For a more intense color, increase the amount of dye (Fallen Star is 2 teaspoons of Royal Purple, 1/2 teaspoon Frost Grey, 1/2 teaspoon Sapphire Blue per 4 cups of water). If you dump in the whole bottle, 1) you're wasting dye, and 2) you're not going to get the color that the dye is supposed to produce.
Dye measured - and then I measure one more batch in a separate cup. As stuff goes in the water, dye is absorbed and removed from the water - so you gotta add a little back. Like, an eyedropper at a time, a little.
I set the water to be just under a boil - no bubbling, but still painful when you accidentally stick a finger in there. It's soapy because RIT recommends adding a tiny bit of dish soap and a little salt to the dye bath to help disperse the color evenly.
Dunk:
The resin parts got 3 minutes each. The vinyl parts got 6 minutes.
Horse butt magnet came unglued, and there's something on the butt that prevented it from absorbing dye. I don't know what it is. I'll have to color correct with pastels. Also: the horse body was cast in two parts that were glued together, and the seams sanded. This became immediately apparent post-dye.
The floating blobs top left are vinyl thigh parts after 3 minutes in the dye bath. The darker blue human parts of vinyl parts after a six minute bath.
A few more things: whatever that butt glue was, it liquified in the pot and stuck to stuff. I am not happy about this.
Because parts are thinner in some places and thicker in others, when I pulled a part out of the bath, I would run it under cool water. Then I grabbed my melamine sponge and scrubbed areas where the dye was darker or absorbed funny. Isopropyl alcohol can also help remove some of the dye.
The dye continued to process, even after I rinsed all the parts. When I woke up the next morning, everything was an even more intense blue - especially the vinyl.
My self-imposed max time for resin in a hot water dye bath is 3 minutes. 2-part epoxy resin reacts quickly and hardens to equilibrium - NOT completion. When resin parts are put into almost-boiling hot water, the reaction is reactivated. The resin parts will shrink. I read on a resin manufacturer's website that after 20 minutes, the resin will become extremely brittle and fragile. From past experience, I know that 3 minutes in hot water is enough to make a resin part shrink.
Since the resin parts were dyed for 3 minutes each, this means I will NOT be attempting a gradation with dye. I'll use pastels instead.
But vinyl, however - vinyl can take some heat. Heh heh heh.
Next up: purple!

Took me a long time as always, but she's all dyed and laid out to dry til tomorrow!
She photographs waaaay the wrong color, I had to edit this photo a lot to approach what my eye sees. Ironically my purple doll photographs blue and this blue doll photographs purple 😞
There is marbling but in my opinion it's really mild for a vinyl doll. And I dyed her right foot a lil too dark. But in the grand scheme of dye games, another solid win in my books!
Now to see if I can actually shove the joints back in tomorrow, and how fast she fades 😵💫
Edit to add: Rit Dyemore Synthetic, 6 parts Kentucky Sky and 1 part Sapphire Blue
Edit 2: That is a cloth baby diaper but it was never used as a diaper! Just a nice absorbent towel for crafting 😅

Satur-DYE time!! Yes, I finally got everyone dry and ready for photo day! These were my dark blue and black dye baths from a week or two ago, and although they’ve been through a dish soap bath, they have a long way to go until they’re done! I have a lot of fun ideas in store for these cuties! I tried to put all of the dip-dye ponies on the left if you are into those! I’ll add some more closeups in one more post after this! 🤩 These are all made with Rit Dyemore, and the only colors I used were Sapphire Blue and Graphite! #mylittlepony #ponygurucustom #mlp #ritdye #mylittleponycustom #fakiepony #mylittleponyfakie https://www.instagram.com/p/CoQx8FipSTh/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

These sundances were in bad condition. So I am making them into nachtlicht replicas! One for me, two to share. I used sapphire blue rit dye.
I did a small experiment too. It turns out that Apoxi Sculpt takes dye pretty well. I will probably still paint something over this spot though.

Well it sorta worked out?? The green is absolutely hideous.. it reminds me of sewage!! The sapphire blue is more of an ingigo then blue and really dark, the kentucky sky is pretty, and the daffodil yellow is well, yellow. So I'm gonna return the ugly green and maybe the others. If I'm correct I have to boil the Rit DyeMore to get it to even dye anything, and thats gonna take forever and make a huge mess. So I'm gonna see is the regular formula has prettier colors, and if I have to heat it to dye anything. (at Everett, Washington)

So I'm planning on cosplaying deku, and I was wondering if I could ask where you got your shoes, what you used to make the black things on his legs, and what fabric you used to make his suit? Sorry for being nosy but I really love your deku cosplay!
Hey! I’m sorry if you sent this a long time ago, I just saw it! You’re not being nosy, don’t worry! I got his shoes on Amazon! (The shoes I’m wearing in the photoset aren’t on Amazon in red anymore, and I lost one at that con anyway, so these are the ones I’m using now and in my opinion they’re even more accurate!) I also bought black laces and re-laced them myself.
For the knee and elbow pads I used black Yaya Han 4 way stretch matte cosplay fabric, and I sewed those into tubes, then I wrapped that same fabric around some cushion foam from Joanns. You can use either regular or high-density. I think I used the 1″ and 1/2″ widths. (I also wore black knee socks.)
The bodysuit is also Yaya Han 4 way stretch matte cosplay fabric, I ordered it in the color “Emerald” WITHOUT ORDERING A SWATCH FIRST!!! DON’T DO THAT!! Always order a swatch first when ordering fabric online. The emerald color turned out to be a VERY bright green, so I used Rit DyeMore in Sapphire Blue to make it darker. There might be a better color to order the fabric in so you don’t have to dye it!
And thank you!!! I’m glad you like the cosplay!!! :D

Hey doll hey!!! How’s your day/night going? Great I hope!
For dinner tonight I made Honey garlic glazed Salmon and spicy pan seared red potatoes and for desert I made homemade peanut butter cookies and decaf chocolate mint Dalgona coffee. (belly is happy)
Well, as I said the other day, I’ve been venturing into the 60’s flash back that is tie dye. I’ve completed 4 outfits and 3 extra shirts (tanks).
The dye brand I chose was Rit and the colors I used are :
I also purchased 4 dish basins ($18.88 on Amazon), 4 baking cooling racks ($12.65 on Amazon), 10 squirt bottles ($12.99 on Amazon), a roll of cling wrap ($3.99 on Amazon), rubber bands ($3 on Amazon for a big bag of assorted colors and sizes), 4 v neck short sleeve tee-shirts (white cotton) 2 pairs of lounge capri style pants (white cotton), and 2 pairs of yoga pants (white polyester), and I also had 3 white tank tops that I added to the pile. I also needed gloves which I already had.
The yoga pants had to be dyed on the stove because they used a special type of dye called Dyemore … it’s for synthetic fibers…. I used Sapphire Blue and Royal Purple Dyemore for these 2 pants and for the rest of the colors I had to use some some Color Stay Dye Fixative as well. The Fixative I purchased off Amazon for $2.99 a bottle and I purchased 2 bottles.
So how did I do?? Let’s take a look.
The first shade I used was Rose Quartz…I purchased it off Amazon for $8.93 (a rip off because at Joann Fabrics it was only $6). I thought it would come out a bit more pink but it was super light and almost coral in color … I still liked it very much. I made 3 pieces this color:
This was an old flat white tank top that I had for sleeping in and now I have a cute little Saturday afternoon lay about shirt.
These Carpis I purchased off Amazon for $14.99…. and they are a faded pink in color almost coral in shade. I think I should had added a bit more dye to the squeeze bottle but it’s still pretty even though it has more white than pink in it.
This V neck I purchased off Amazon in a 2 pack for $16 and it ended up the same as the pants, light pink almost coral and with more white than pink…. I think I had it too tight and that’s why I got more white than pink.
The next color I experimented with was Teal. I purchased it of Amazon for $7.49 (again another rip off because as Joann’s it’s only $4.50) I really loved the color. I think for the first couple of outfits I just didn’t use enough dye. I did 2 pieces in this color.
This V neck tee-shirt I purchased off Amazon for $9.50 and it came out Teal and there is more color to this shirt as apposed to the pink one. I remember I did this one a bit more loose and I covered the whole surface with the dye instead of leaving white areas. I really like the way it came out.
These Capris I purchased off Amazon for $14.99 and came out a lighter shade of Teal but it’s pretty. I also noticed I had more surface area colored than with the pink counter part.
The next color I tried out was the Sapphire Blue DyeMore. I purchased it at Joann Fabrics for $4.49. This color came out AMAZING! I am in love with the outcome. For Polyester, unfortunately, you have to use a whole bottle of dye, not like with cotton dye (where you use 2 Tablespoons of dye). So if I want this color in the future I will have to buy another bottle…. which is OK because they only run around $5 for a bottle.
I absolutely love the way these Yoga pants came out and the pants are supper comfy (I’m wearing them today). I purchased them off Amazon for $15.99. I left them in the dye bath for 45 minutes (the longer you leave it in the deeper the color payoff will be). I also love this color so much … it’s my birthstone color.
The next color I tried was Denim Blue. I purchased it at Joann Fabrics for $4.49. I dyed 2 pieces in this color and they came out lighter than I thought they would, for some reason I though they were going to be a darker denim color… they came out more a faded denim color which I actually like better.
This was an older flat white tank top that I had. It was one of my favorite tanks I just didn’t wear it much because I was afraid I would get something on it. (I don’t know why I continue to purchase white clothing knowing I barely ever wear them for fear that I’ll stain them). Now it’s my all time favorite tank. It came out so good. I also used only 1 Tablespoon of dye in this one and used just a touch of the other bottle I prepared with 2 Tablespoons of dye for contrast.
This V neck shirt I purchased off Amazon for $9.50 and it came out OK. I would have liked more blue in it but it’s still cute. This shirt was dyed with the 2 Tablespoon solution with just a hint of the 1 tablespoon solution. The color is cute but I think I like the tank more.
The next color I did was Royal Purple. I purchased it at Joann Fabrics for $4.49. I did 1 piece in this color and the shade came out super deep but I loved the style that I got with it. Again I had to use the whole bottle so if I should want this color again I will have to repurchase the shade.
These Yoga pants came out cool. I purchased them off Amazon for $15.99. I love how there is all this deep purple and than around the white it bled and so there is a lighter shade of purple introduced to the piece.
The final color I did was basic Purple. I purchased it off Amazon for $2.98. I dyed 2 pieces in this color and I really liked the shade I got from this color.
This V neck tee-shirt was part of a 2 pack for $16 on Amazon and it ended up being the best of the tee-shirts though I would have liked the neck line to have more tie dye. I love the way it’s darker in some areas and lighter in others.
This tank is another piece that I’ve had and I use to wear it around the house and as a sleep shirt. I don’t ever wear spaghetti string shirts out in public because, since I’m top heavy, I can’t find a bra with spaghetti straps and I can’t do around without a bra … so I just stick to wearing it around the house. I love the shade of purple I got with this piece.
And that was everything I dyed this weekend. I can’t wait to purchase some more flat white pieced to dye … I think I’ll experiment with doing 2 or more colors next time and now that I have the hand of it I’m sure that I will be able to get better color payoff.
I’m actually thinking I might make some curtains for my craft room and I might just try to tie dye them …. I think that would be super fun.
Well that’s all for now dolls. I hope you enjoy the rest of your day/night and that you are in good spirits and good health.
Remember dolls … Save a spoon for a bit of lipstick.
XOXO
My Tie Dye Adventure Hey doll hey!!! How's your day/night going? Great I hope! For dinner tonight I made Honey garlic glazed Salmon and spicy pan seared red potatoes and for desert I made homemade peanut butter cookies and decaf chocolate mint Dalgona coffee.

I decided to put all of Geode’s gems in one picture. So here we have:
Sapphire wearing a transgender dress, an asexual bracelet, and a aromantic bracelet;
Ruby wearing an outfit that adds up to the aro-ace flag (plus red boots);
Iolite wearing asexual pants, an agender shirt, a trans bracelet, and an aro-ace bracelet;
And Alexandrite wearing an aromantic shirt, asexual shoes, and pants that have white, grey, and black (colors that go in both of those flags).
Each of them have at least one thing of clothing of ‘their’ color plus a Four Sword necklace of ‘their’ color.

I FEEL LIKE I'M GETTING CLOSER. I decided to try one more time with the Rit DyeMore sapphire blue, and made it a lot lighter dye. So in this case its to tsp fractions to 2 cups (except that really light 1/16 is actually 1/32 to 4 cups water) I'm pretty happy with the results BUT I might see what purples they have and play one more test while making dinner 😙 #cosplay #cosplaywip #cosplayprogress #breathofthewild #botw #zelda #link #linkcosplay #sheikah #sheikahlink #loz #lozcosplay #wip #progress

Feeling productive
OK. Turn on the heating pad and start cooking doll parts, get the shells off and into the tub. Measure out how much water goes in my shiny new BIG ASS pot I got from the thrift store. Cut more weed-wacker trim wire (sorry, Spouse) to string up the legs.
Thinking of doing the knee and fetlock? ankle? joints separately cuz they're smaller and will dye faster.
Ooh - rubbing alcohol. Do I have any, or do I need to run to the store?
Gamblers feel free to start placing bets on how much (or little) I will actually get done.
My color choices are Blue Cake and Magical Purple. No, wait, I think I like Fallen Star better, and I can leave out the Sapphire Blue, cuz it will already be in the Blue Cake dye.
The embedded colors look terrible. I like the color on Rit's website better.
I'm using the "small item" recipe (it doesn't matter which item you choose - the recipe is the same, and yes, I clicked through every item to check) cuz I want a pastel hue. If I want deeper color, I can add with blushing.
Oh, and I want to draw up a stencil cutie mark to put on the hindquarters. I'm thinking masking tape for the big areas, and then liquid masking around the design. I'll keep the airbrush spray light and far away to minimize bleeding.
I forgot that I swapped the tail with someone and kept the brown tail. Oh well - airbrush paint should cover that.
No SHUT UP brain I am NOT making a magnetic tail.

Here’s a very broad overview of the whole rainbow from yesterday’s reel!! 🌈 These were all dyed with Rit Dyemore for synthetics, in almost all of their shades - pink, orange (not red!), yellow, blue (both Kentucky Sky and Sapphire Blue), green which turned out to be a fail, purple, and black! Almost all the colors work great on ponies! These are a mix of G1 and @hqg1c ponies, mostly big brothers and True Blue! #hqg1c #mylittlepony #mlp #mylittleponyg1 #g1mylittlepony #mylittleponycustom #ponygurucustom #rainbow #ritdye #customtoy https://www.instagram.com/p/ChLGXhsvqTX/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
