Review: RiRe Lip Powder from BB Cosmetic 💕 use ‘N8P36ZLIFZY98′ for 8% off!

Hi guys and thanks for reading my very first review! This time, I’m collaborating with BB Cosmetic, an online Korean beauty product retailer, who has kindly sent me two products to try out. 

Disclaimer: Though I received the products from BB Cosmetic, everything written from here on is my honest opinion about the experience I’ve had with BB Cosmetic as well as the product.

A short introduction about BB Cosmetic, BB Cosmetic has been around for about 5 years now and they’re located in Korea. These guys stock a lot of Korean beauty brands be it roadside stores or the higher end luxury brands. Some of these brands include the currently really popular skincare brands like Cosrx (which I’ll be posting about soon so please watch out for it), Dr Jart+, Troiareuke and makeup brands like 3CE, Labiotte, Innisfree etc. They are active on Instagram and do have giveaways quite often so follow them on their account if you don’t want to miss out!

Without further ado, I’ll be reviewing the RiRe Lip Powder (#Sugar Rose) for you guys! 

I first liaised with their beauty coordinator and everything ran really smoothly, from the choosing of the products to informing me about the tracking number of the parcel, I'd really like to commend them for their professionalism when it comes to efficiency. It took only about a week for the whole procedure and roughly 3 working days for the parcel to arrive from Korea. The package came well wrapped and the box inside wasn’t dented at all, safely sealed, everything.

On to the product, it is a vividly pigmented lip product, pretty long lasting and not too drying at the same time (surprisingly, yeah I know). 

The product came off really well from its powdered form onto my lips, it was moisturising (not extremely but good enough). The powder kinda just melts on your lips and it’s easy to apply. I tried to apply the lip powder with a thin layer but it didn’t turn out the way I wanted it to compared to what I saw on the website so I decided to put on another layer and guess what guys, the colour was so pretty after the second layer! 

The one thing that made me feel meh about this product was its applicator. The applicator’s pretty small and in the shape of a cone, which makes it rather difficult to use. I personally am not a huge fan of the applicator but I do like the effect from the product so... 

It does seem like a potential mess creating product so I do recommend you guys to take caution while using it. I personally scrape off the excess powder from the applicator before I use it on my lips, just in case the powder gets on my shirt or floor. 

Here’s how my lips looked like after I applied two layers of the product! I love how pigmented it is but it still has that matte effect. And also I don’t have any other makeup products on my face besides my brows and the RiRe product!

Here’s a detailed example of how this product looks like after being applied once, twice and three times! I do think that applying it 3 times actually causes the opposite effect of having a more pigmented look because the product tends to get moved away by the applicator after a while. 

At the end of the day when I checked back on the lip product, most of the product was still there except that when I looked closely in the mirror there was a line of residue on my lips. I’m not exactly sure if it was the way that I applied it which caused the residue to appear or if it’s a natural thing that happens after 7/8 hours of applying it. Besides the really weird occurrence, the product actually worked well for me and I didn’t have to touch up the product at all while I was out the whole day. 

Besides Sugar Rose, there are 3 other colours not mentioned in this review! Plus I did a little background check myself, and I found out that there were only 2 ingredients in this product that aren’t that good for your lips but the ingredients are nothing too dangerous! (If you guys are curious what app I used, it’s called 화해, it’s entirely in Korean!)

Colour: 5/5

I gave it a 5 personally because I loved the way the colour turned out on my lips. It was easy to apply and didn’t drag my lips along while I applied it. Surprisingly, the powder was moist and did not clump together on my lips too (thank goodness). An additional thing to note was that even though there wasn’t a scent, the product actually tasted kind of sugary (I tasted it by accident, not on purpose don’t worry guys), but it was still ok for me. 🌟

Lasting: 4/5

Mentioned earlier, the product left a bit of a residue on my lips, which I felt was bearable considering the fact that I hadn’t done anything to my lips since the first application. So apart from the line of residue that was left on my lips, the colour was still pretty natural after a whole day out. 🌟

Packaging: 4/5

The packaging for this product was probably the most disappointing one of all. It’s a fantastic product but the applicator killed it. I mean I would still use the product but at the same time really resent the person who made the applicator so tiny and hard to use. 🌟

I was super excited to do a review on this product mainly because I’ve seen lip powder products but have never tried using one before. It was just magic when once the product was applied onto my lips, it immediately turned into a creamy texture. I was absolutely amazed. I guess that’s what makes this product a fun product. 

At the same time, it has its flaws with the packaging and all, but nothing too serious. Maybe something that people would complain about but not turn them away from the product.

In addition, the links to each of the French candies in the song are from French Wikipedia, so if you’d rather not run Google Translate here’s a brief summary:

-Minto — I translated it as “Altoids” since although they’re not the exact same brand it’s pretty much the same concept, round white powdery mints in a tin can.

-Mistral Gagnant — the candy that lends its name to the song is a powdered candy that was sucked through a straw, like Fun Dip or Pixy-Stix, but the “gagnant” meant that certain packages had small prizes in them. (If I’d tried to do a rhyming translation, I probably would’ve changed the concept to be about salty snacks and called it “Cracker Jack Box.”)

-Carambar — a hard caramel wrapped in a Tootsie Roll-like paper. Its main gimmick is having awful jokes on its wrappers, much like Laffy Taffy in the US.

-Coco-Boer — a kind of licorice powder that was dissolved in water as a drink. Oddly unrelated to chocolate or coconut.

-Roudoudou — a candy that consisted of hardened sugar syrup placed in a plastic shell that you had to suck out yourself, hence the capacity to cut lips and fuck up teeth. (Fun fact, the Pokemon Jigglypuff is named Rondoudou in French, combining “ronde” or round with “roudoudou.”)

Before heading out, we usually prep our skin to make sure that the application of make up will be smooth as possible. I really love how it instantly nourished my skin. It’s really soothing and relaxing.

Secret Key Finish Up BB Cream

We want our base to be as perfect as the sunset especially when we are going out. I love the texture of this BB cream. It’s creamy but not heavy and it feels like there’s nothing on my skin. The color suits my NC 25 skin tone as well. I also liked the teeny tiny shimmers that this BB cream has.

Son & Park All That Shadow Kit

This is like an All in One Palette. It’s warm and neutral colors are good for everyday look and you can also create a glam night time look because of the pretty shimmer shadow. These shadows are buttery soft and really pigmented.

Holika Holika Wonder Drawing Eye Liner in Black

Swipe this eye liner for that amazing cat- eye look. It’s creamy and I love how black it is. I love my eye liners to be really, really black and this one didn’t let me down.

RiRe Luxe Long Lasting Eye Fixer

Nobody wants to have a panda eyes especially when partying all night. This product will surely lock your eye make up in place. Check out the difference of my eye pencil swatch with and without the eye fixer on the photo above. It’s like a top coat that will prevent your liner from smudging.

W.Lab 3D Face Lovely Stick in Pink Chou Cream

I’m really into that baby pink cheeks look. It provides a pretty flush amidst that heavy eye make up. This blush is so pigmented so a little goes a long way plus it really does stay for a long time.

VDL Expert Color Lip Cube EX in 102 Miss Right

This lippie will definitely give you that party vibe. It’ll make you feel like you are the celebrant. It’s creamy, super pigmented and I really love the color. It reminds me of the lip color Jun Ji Hyun usually wears on the TV series The Legend of the Blue Seas.

Overall, I’m really satisfied with all of the products that came with this box. Althea really did a great job in picking the items that goes in every boxes that they offer. Now, I cannot wait for the forthcoming boxes that they will release. BTW, I created this look using the products included, though I’ve added a bit of setting powder plus a mascara. It’s not much, I’m definitely not a professional make up artist and for me, this is the look that I can pull off whenever I go to a party.

To balance out my usual complaining, it is high time to note my skin looks rather nice lately. More even, smooth + less redness, also I think I’ve improved my hydration level to a degree where my T-zone is no longer desperately compensating the dryness by spewing oil, and my make-up, if I wear any, looks better for longer. No changes in routine, just consistently using stuff that works. Which, as I don’t think I’ve listed it here lately, goes like this:

AM: rinse by rubbing 2 ice cubes over my face (makes me feel awake), wipe with Cattier calming beauty lotion (spray pH balancing toner) on cotton, then Avène thermal water spray + some quick face massage moves, then Hada Labo Gokujyun Clear lotion (hydrating toner), then CosRX Galactomyces 95 Whitening Power Essence, then Berrisom Collagen Intensive Firming Essence, then sometimes a sheet mask or hydrogel eye patches, or leftover sheet mask essence; and either Lumene SOS cream, Velvizo Marine Hydrating Emulsion, or Skin79 Face Fit Silk Cream (pills a little), or Nuxe Emulsion Nirvanesque (pills A LOT, and is taking forever to use up because I hate it pilling). Kaufmann’s Haut- und Kinder-creme as lip balm, always. And then La Roche-Posay Anthelios XL SPF 50 stick under eyes/over cheekbones (my sun spot risk area) + full face sunscreen: either RiRe Silky & Light Sun Milk, or Velvizo Marine Whitening UV Sun Cream, both are SPF 50/PA+++.

PM: Lumene Lähde micellar water + cotton to remove sunscreen/any make-up; then Cattier Nuage Celeste cleansing foam + Missha konjac sponge. Next, optional actives, each once per week: Let’s Cure C-ster vitamin C powder, mixed with water; or CosRX AHA 7 Whitehead Power Liquid, or CosRX BHA Blackhead Power Liquid followed by Cattier yellow clay mask. Next, possibly DermaSel wash-off mask in the bath/shower (matcha is really nice). Sometimes a spoonful of leftover egg white as mask, if I used any eggs for making dinner. And about 1-2 times per month, Dr.G Brightening Peeling Gel Mild. Then Avène water spray, Cattier spray toner, Hada Labo lotion, CosRX Galactomyces essence, Berrisom essence, maybe a sheet mask (up to 3 times per week), an eye cream - either Velvizo Marine Hydrating Anti-Wrinkle Eye Cream, or O Hui Age Recovery Wrinkle P-tox samples (I am currently not using eye cream in the AM routine because I’m tired of pilling issues, also believe the Berrisom essence is pulling its weight in that area as well). And a night cream: alternating nightly between Avène Eluage cream (retinaldehyde, I’m not using other retinoids) and Velvizo Marine Hydrating Wrinkle Repair Cream. And ofc Kaufmann’s baby cream as lip balm again.

I’ve got a lot of fancy samples, serums, essences and eye creams, but I’m currently not really missing them, maybe gonna introduce some when it gets colder again.

Also, that Schwarzkopf spray gel I bought? (Full name: Schwarzkopf Styliste Ultîme Elastin+ Flex Control Modelling Spray Gel.) It seems quite good. Less frizz, more shiny bounce. It’s really light, too, doesn’t weigh anything down and doesn’t dry into a stiff, crusty layer. The gel part is debatable, it’s an alcohol-based, thin liquid, I would just call it hair spray tbh. It feels quite sticky when wet, but thankfully dries fast. 

And I think I have located a viable alternative to the conditioner I can no longer find - an eco brand called Nonique has an olive & avocado conditioner with a very similar formula, and although 3 times the price of the cheapo Garnier, it is still in the affordable range. Few reviews, but good. And there were a few further options I could consider if that one disappoints.
