So let's begin, shall we?

My laptop keyboard stopped working yesterday, that means I have to use the tablet mode, except the touch screen feature? Yeah that is non existent in my ancient laptop, so I have to use the cursor. Which takes forever. How the fuck am I supposed to write? Idk man, don't ask me.

Two! I almost missed a physics test and I’ve probably failed that. Yay. My parents are going to murder me

There(oh yes, there's more to this tragic story) the morning consisted of my parents calling me an idiot, which really, it was just gReaT for my self esteem. Really. Thanks mom and dad.

Four(oh it never ends) my parents have put this controlling app of my phone, so they can block apps and set limits. So I'm probably going to disappear of the face if the earth, and y'all wouldn't know.

So now what?

I'm, regrettably, going to write some shorter fics, and going to put the entire b lost series, including amour mortel, on hold. These are longer fics and I want to do them justice.

I feel horrible about this, but I decided it was the right decision, considering everything.

I will be writing shorter blurbs and fics, maybe about 4k? That's probably all I can push it to. They seem to do better than my actual fics anyways. I'm not going to stop writing, I couldn't even if I wanted to. I may experiment with bulleted scenarios too.

That being said, I will not post anything that I don't think is good enough. I nay not post as often, but that's because u want it to be quality. That's why I take so long to post my stories anyways. One, is because they're long as fuck, and two is because I keep reading over, seeing what works, and what doesn't. I've probably deleted over 6k while writing, and after finishing the story collectively. If I hadn't, little princess would probably be like 20 k rip.

My mental health? Not that great, and I need to get my shit together for school as well. And get more reSpOnsIble , or as my parents say, since I'm 'the biggest idiot'.

The net will function as usual, don't worry, I'm not going on hiatus or anything like that. I'm going to be writing, and working on that, with my co admin.

Hopefully we can get my laptop fixed soon.

It's been a crappy week, and it's only Tuesday, so that's saying a LOT. Don't worry though, I'm fine, I just have a lot going on.

hi, hey, hello everyone my name is pepper and i am very much writing this on three am christmas morning.... oof. but i wanted to pop by and semi quickly introduce my babey before knocking out so!! here we are!! but before we get into her, a bit about me to break the ice! my alias is inspired by the iconic duo salt and pepper and their classic song push it. i am an english major who learned how to spell passivist the other day, yes we exist. i am late to literally everything so me just showing up now,,, can we say on brand?? i am a hoe for pinterest and after i finish this intro i will probably start on bex’s pinterest board! i have never played the sims, rip, i am a hoe for pretty much all reality shows (my faves are bachelor, love island, and the cheesy netflix ones atm) and i am actually a huge scaredy cat! the last horror movie i watched was ready or not which i actually realy enjoyed but i have maybe watched? ten horror movies in my entire twenty four years of life. wild, i know. oh and i use she / her pronouns for anyone wondering! okay, now that that’s out the way, 

BIO.  being intuitive is just like... i don’t like this and no i will not elaborate

bex is actually a new muse and since she’s new to the group i still want her to have a bit of an air of mystery about her so i will not be elaborating too, too much on her backstory but 

actually a twin! i’d like to put in a wanted connection for her twin at some point because i think it’d be fun if they were both involved in the group but yeah, bex is half of a set. if you are interested in the connection hmu < 3

her and her sibling didn’t want for much at all growing up. their parents were pretty well off and so it wasn’t as if they were struggling. the worst thing about their childhood was that they often moved from city to city to support her father’s job. her dad was an author of supernatural and horror books and so he tended to go wherever the inspiration struck. so bex basically grew up in creepy houses and such! whenever her dad solved the mystery of one place nd finished his novel they would move. 

around the time that bex was six they lived in a very specific house. and when they moved from it bex found herself with this power. she is able to feel what people are feeling when she touches them or feel what someone else was feeling when she touches something that they’ve touched. think theo crain from hill house basically. it wasn’t something she was born with though, and since bex was already a pretty cheerful child with a pretty active imagination her mother tried to talk her out of the whole thing. 

bex’s mother was a child psychologist and it was with her help that bex learned that anything she thought she was feeling or seeing was just in her imagination. she was just really empathetic. and sometimes she found herself with imaginary friends. and maybe sometimes she had strange dreams, but this was all very normal. 

bex didn’t really have any choice but to believe her mom as a child. so for years she just ??? went with her powers unchecked, over stimulated and confused and scared. she didn’t deal with it well. and her parents didn’t understand. 

her dad found it fascinating though. wrote a whole book about her. it quickly became a best seller, and bex, his inspiration, pretty quickly became a bit of a celebrity in the horror novelist community. even bex, who absolutely loved attention, hated the whole thing. but she was too young for anyone to listen to her. 

suffice to say, the moment that bex turned eighteen she dipped. specifically she left to go to university. she studied up and got a bachelors degree in architecture. she is planning to get her masters next because she’s really passionate about her field, but well she stumbled into arcane first. 

it was completely by accident honestly. one day she was just living her life as normally as her life tended to get. and the next moment she saw one of their videos. and it was like everything clicked into place at once. she tried to ignore it, she really did, but it wasn’t long until she was seeing them everywhere. until she found herself drawing the arcane inc logo absently in the margins of her notes, or dreaming about the group at night, or mumbling lines of their show to herself when she was meant to be distractedly humming. it was weird, like really weird, and again bex would have brushed it off as nothing, but i imagine that at some point she actually saw them irl. maybe they reached out to her due to one of her father’s novels and bex likely having lived in that house before, or maybe she stumbled upon them completely coincidentally, but bex might not believe in ghosts but she sure believes in the universe. and who is she to say no to what the universe so obviously wants? details tbd sdkjsd

so here she is! having a good time in her gap year between uni and grad school. i’d say she’s been here since?? june of this year and she’s still going strong. she is still a bit skeptical about some things but she’s having a good time anyways.

for someone so smart bex is also dumb. she still thinks that for the most part she’s really empathetic, like yeah she can touch something and tell you how the last person who touched that thing felt but * bex vc * is it really that big of a deal? i mean it’s basically a party trick dkldsklds honestly bex’s mother just really got into her head a child, but she is prety sensitive to things like touch. tends to get cold really easily in places with spiritual energy so catch her wrapped up like nothing else (tends to always have her sweater over her hands in those places). the type to stick to you like glue and touch you like crazy when you’re in a good mood and keep a good distance away from you when you’re in a bad one. she’s pretty good at comforting and cheering people up, but she will not touch you when you are in a bad mood for the most part cause she doesn’t want those vibes?? gets super caught up in other people’s emotions sometimes, and her own and they all tend to blend together. like if you have a crush on someone and you’re in your feels about it and bex touches you she’s like damn do i have a crush on them? do i have a crush on you? are we about to KISS right now? and she will kiss you then tbh she’s big dumb sometimes smh. this is how she gets herself into trouble.

Well your basics are “génial!��� and “super!”, which like your German “toll!” and “prima!” (do you guys still use these? I learned them in the 90ies) are kind of weak translations. But those are the most polite ones, those that you’d say in front of your boss/clients/etc.

I hear “énorme” (lit: huge) on TV quite a lot, and sometimes it would describe “awesome”. As in “c’est énorme, ce qu’il a fait”, ie, “what he did was awesome/awe-inspiring/incredible”. However, people also use it to describe anything incredible/unlikely, even if that thing is stupid or horrible.

We also have “trop bien” (lit: “too good”) and “trop génial” (lit: “too great”) which are quite informal and grammatically dubious but exactly the kind of thing people will say for “awesome!”.

More informal and creative are “c’est mortel” (lit: it’s deadly), “c’est de la balle” (hard to translate, possibly to do with money? or bullets?) and “ça déchire” (lit: it rips), to which you can add “grave” (lit. “seriously”) to make it more intense. You probably wouldn’t say these in a business meeting or a formal setting or to your grandma, but you’d absolutely say them amongst friends.

C’est vrai, sous nos latitudes avantagées, l’espérance de vie augmente. Passée respectivement de 70,9 à 85,4 ans chez les femmes et de 66,4 à 81,4 ans chez les hommes entre 1948 et 2017*, elle ouvre la voie à des centenaires (lire encadré). Le millénaire d’existence semble pourtant loin, d’autant plus que l’espérance de vie prend davantage les allures d’une pente douce, presque stable ces dernières années, que d’une montée en flèche. Le changement va loin et laisse entrevoir des inégalités criantes. «Le simple fait de vieillir fait désormais de nous des patients à traiter, poursuit l’anthropologue. Mais tandis que certains dans le monde meurent toujours de rougeole ou d’une crise d’asthme, d’autres dépensent des fortunes pour faire soigner leur vieillissement. La finitude propre à l’humanité est quelque chose dont on ne veut tout simplement plus.»

Un instant alors, rêvons. D’une vie éternelle, ou plus modestement de vivre un millénaire. «Deux pensées transhumanistes cohabitent: celle qui mise sur une immortalité du corps et de l’esprit et celle qui opte pour la préservation de l’esprit seulement», résume le Pr Christian Lovis, médecin-chef du Service des sciences de l’information médicale aux Hôpitaux universitaires de Genève. Commençons par la première option. «D’innombrables problèmes surviendraient. Déjà, comment imaginer que le millénaire de vie serait accessible à tous, sachant que notre planète porte déjà difficilement ses huit milliards d’habitants, si rapidement mortels? interroge le Pr Lovis. Plus probable: seule une poignée d’"élus" pourrait y prétendre. La suite? Aucun des scénarios imaginables ne semble désirable… Et cela sans compter les effets du temps sur des organismes "longue durée", dont on ne sait rien, notamment en termes d’accumulation probable de mutations génétiques.» Quant à la seconde option, celle de l’immortalité de l’esprit seul? L’idée serait que l’esprit et la conscience du soi, dénués de corps physique, se téléchargent sur des serveurs informatiques parfaits, profitant de tout le savoir, de l’intelligence artificielle et de la digitalisation du monde. «Cette option est concevable dans un avenir lointain, c’est vrai. Mais en l’état des technologies actuelles, on ne peut tout simplement pas envisager de faire un copier-coller de ce qui fait l’être d’une personne vers une machine. Sans compter que l’informatique reste hautement faillible…», résume le spécialiste.

La fusion de l’homme et de la machine ne semble donc pas pour tout de suite. «Que ce soit au niveau informatique, biologique, technologique, nous en sommes à des années-lumière, poursuit le Pr Lovis. Nous demeurons par exemple incapables de faire des prothèses de hanche qui durent plus de vingt à trente ans. Quant à comparer intelligence artificielle et intelligence humaine, cela revient à assimiler la technologie d’un avion à la physiologie d’un oiseau sous prétexte que les deux volent. L’humilité vis-à-vis de nos découvertes s’impose.» Et de glisser: «Avant de rêver d’immortalité, nous devons ouvrir les yeux sur les crises qui crépitent de toutes parts, au niveau écologique, économique, politique ou simplement humain.»

Les barrières de l’«acceptable» se déplacent

L’urgence? «Il faut s’interroger sur la société que l’on souhaite, estime la Dre Cerqui. Organisation de la société, chômage, place donnée à la différence et à l’imperfection: notre société est-elle préparée aux progrès actuels et à notre désir de longévité? En Suisse, le système des assurances complémentaires expose déjà à une médecine à deux vitesses. Que va-t-il advenir demain? Aujourd’hui, par souci de rentabilité, des robots sont conçus pour s’occuper des personnes âgées. Est-ce vraiment ce que nous voulons?»

La santé va-t-elle alors un jour susciter les mêmes mouvements de foule que le climat aujourd’hui? «Une banderole brandie lors d’une manifestation disait "Les dinosaures n’ont pas vu venir leur extinction", raconte l’anthropologue. Nous, humains, devrions prendre le temps de réfléchir. Au lieu de cela, le diagnostic préimplantatoire poursuit un projet eugéniste, on parle de cryogénisation de têtes humaines, avec l’idée que notre identité réside dans notre cerveau qui n’aurait qu’à trouver un corps vigoureux sur lequel s’implanter une fois usé. Ou encore, on apprenait récemment la naissance en Chine de jumeaux génétiquement modifiés. La mort, sujet tabou. Les «RIP» (rest in peace, repose en paix en français) inondent les réseaux sociaux et sont même entrés dans le langage courant pour parler d’une basket trouée ou d’une voiture accidentée. Mais la mort, la vraie, est tue, cachée, mise à distance. «Quel que soit le moment où elle survient, la mort semble toujours prématurée, note le Dr Vincent Menuz, enseignant de biologie et cofondateur du think-tank NeoHumanitas. Pire, elle sonne comme un aveu d’échec d’une médecine toujours plus triomphante, censée la vaincre à tout prix. Sauf que cela est impossible et qu’elle arrive, elle aussi, à ses limites. Alors, la médecine demande à chacun de se responsabiliser.» Ne pas fumer, éviter les excès, faire de l’activité physique, autant de messages qui sauvent des vies, mais pas seulement. «Ces injonctions exposent à une culpabilisation nouvelle, estime le Dr Menuz. Le risque est d’insinuer que si l’on meurt, c’est de notre faute, nous n’avons pas arrêté de fumer, trop mangé, pas assez bougé. On oublie que la mort peut frapper à tout moment, sans logique, sans justice. Et évidemment, qu’elle fait partie de la vie.»

La solution? «Peut-être prendre le temps d’être simplement humain et d’injecter un peu de spiritualité dans nos vies, suggère le Dr Menuz. Parfois nous négocions juste une demi-journée de congé pour nous rendre à l’enterrement, avant de retourner à notre devoir de productivité. De quoi poser la question: que voulons-nous de notre vie et vers quoi courons-nous ainsi?»

Quel est le secret des centenaires?

Ils sont 441’000 dans le monde et devraient avoisiner les 3,4 millions en 2050. C’est au Japon, aux États-Unis, en France, en Italie et en Allemagne que les centenaires sont les plus nombreux. Révélation sur ces profils hors normes avec Daniela Jopp, professeure associée et spécialiste des centenaires à l’Institut de psychologie de l’Université de Lausanne.

Tous sont malades et disent aller bien. Problèmes de vision, d’audition, risque élevé de chutes, incontinence et hypertension sont le lot de la plupart des centenaires. Mais à la question «Comment allezvous?» la réponse la plus fréquente est: «Tout va bien, j’ai la chance d’être en vie.»

Un optimisme à toute épreuve. Voir toujours le verre à moitié plein est sans doute la devise tacite partagée par les centenaires. Autre point commun: une passion qui continue de les faire vibrer et qu’ils ont envie de transmettre.

Les ingrédients de la longévité optimisés tout au long de la vie. Le plus souvent: 30% de génétique favorable, complétés par un style de vie positif incluant une saine alimentation, une activité physique régulière, une soif perpétuelle et enjouée de connaissances, une capacité à maîtriser ses émotions ou encore un réseau social stimulant.

Rêve d’immortalité? Vivre 100 ans était rarement le plan de départ des centenaires et pourtant dans 90% des cas, ils rêvent de vivre encore. Pour assister encore à un mariage, être là pour une nouvelle naissance, etc.

Jenifer : Suite à l'accident mortel, une seconde victime est décédée, le footballeur Youcef Touati

Un terrible accident est survenu dans la nuit de dimanche 5 au lundi 6 mars sur l’autoroute A1 près de Senlis, dans l’Oise dans lequel Jenifer était impliquée. Cette dernière venait de donner un concert à Bruxelles et rentrait sur Paris. L'artiste de 34 ans se trouvait à bord d'un minibus en compagnie de collaborateurs lorsque le véhicule a heurté à pleine vitesse une voiture à l'arrêt tous feux éteints. À bord du minibus de tournée, cinq passagers ont été légèrement blessés, dont la star . Tous ont été admis dans des hôpitaux de la région. Les passagers de l'autre véhicule n'ont pas eu la même "chance". La jeune femme âgée d'une vingtaine d'années positionnée à l'arrière du véhicule est morte sur le coup tandis que les deux autres passagers ont été très gravement blessés. L'un d'eux a succombé à ses blessures à l'hôpital un peu plus tard dans la journée. Il s'agit de Youcef Touati.Le footballeur de 27 ans est originaire de Saint-Ouen et est passé par de nombreux clubs de deuxième division : Amiens, Tours, Istres, Dijon ou encore Chambly. Sans oublier un passage marquant du coté du Red Star avec lequel il avait brillé au Stade de France lors d'un 32e de finale de Coupe de France face à l'OM en 2012. He laid against the wall staring the out of control customer. They tore through the  metal of the room like it was paper. They were yelling about how the service and the critique he was given by the scientist. Flug curled into a ball shaking waiting for Black Hat to appear. He had wanted to alert Demenica, but was dismayed to recall she was out dealing with nosy heroes. He pressed his hand tighter against his side trying to keep blood from escaping his body. He looked down watching his shadow extend across the floor towards the client, his boss rose from it. Form entirely till he opened his eye, the shadows slid off his body like water. The appearance of the other made a chill appear in the room.The power his boss evinced when he entered was a comfort to the scientist. A relived sigh left his lips his shoudlers sagging his hands letting up on the slash on his side. The smell made the one visible eye look back at the doctor. “BLACK HAT!” The voice of the client didn’t draw the attention it want. The large croc like man smacked his hands on the ground snapping his teeth at the pair.  The client was called Morelet Croc, his scaly skin and black claws lived up to the creature who’s name he boosted so proudly to the media and police. No,  Black Hat walked over to Flug dragging him up his lab coat, taking stock of how much damage was done to his scientist. Flug looked at his boss lifting his hands away so gloved claws could poke and proud how they wished. “He just got my side Sir.” He said trying to cut the examination short. He knew the other was simply checking to see if the Doctor would be out of commission for a time longer than an hour or two. He looked at the villain who had taken to rattling the table screaming and growling trying to draw attention to himself.

Flug’s body locked up seeing a clawed hand shoot into Mortel’s throat. Ungloved digits dug through the muscle and skin. The creature looked unfazed gripping the villain by his wind pip. He pinched  the pipe dragging Mortel down to his knees. Black Hat stared at the struggling villain. “You come into my home and think you can act like a discourteous child?” His free hand shot up pulling the villains jaw open. Black Hat eyed the teeth, “Everything about you is weak.” He let the other inhale pulling the top of the jaw back on Mortel. Flug stayed leaning against the wall, his eyes fixated on his boss. A creature who could destroy that man with a a simple flick. Eyes didn’t budge from the show Black Hat was performing. He didn’t want to confess that seeing the other snap Mortel’s jaw made him giddy. Flug didn’t want admit he felt safer when he saw Black Hat’s claw sneak under the skin to bring the villain down to his knees. It was foolish emotions that told him Black Hat was doing this cause he cared. No, the relational part reminded him that his Boss was making a point. Still his heart sped up in delight entrap by the villain at work. Black Hat looked at the sobbing Mortel, eye half lidded bored. Removing his claws he shakes the blood away from them. Bringing it up he sniffed the blood making a disgusted face. It was as though the villain’s blood reeked of failure. He paused feeling a brush of a muscular arm as the villain charged passed him towards his scientist. How unsurprising, a villain attempting to cripple his company. Black Hat snapped his fingers watching amused as ghastly shadows shot up biting the legs off Mortel. He took his time savoring the screams and frantic heart beats that filled the room with a symphony.  Flug swallowed his looking at Mortel who reached out with one hand. “I’ll kill you, I’ll kill you, I’ll kill you!” The croc themed villain gurgled out. Flug isn’t looking at the villain. His eyes are locked on the torn gloved claws tapping on the villain’s back.  Flug leans forward like a child about to witness a magic trick. The smile spreading across his face watching as Black Hat dug his hand into the other’s chest ripping the heart out. He watched with glee as his boss started to rip out various muscle and organs, tossing them around the room in a flurry of motion.  It was only when Mortel’s screams died down and Black hat was left listening to a single frantic heart beat that was coupled with panting did the villain slow to a stop. Flug stared at his boss becoming more aware the flush creeping up his neck and erratic breathing. “Th-ththank you sir.”
