Can I just ramble on here and ask whether this is what it feels like to be in a long distance relationship?? He’s been vocal about fighting for what he wants in his story, and even if it is an executive or editor saying “no you can’t do this” look what he’s managed to do so far.

not to mention THREE canon trans characters, toga correcting overhaul at misgendering. kendo saying “I just want to be me” when talking about gender, the entire side plot with discrimination and people fighting for acceptance, Hori reading and approving all the stuff that happens in the light novels/team up missions, AND thanking/praising those authors for knowing his characters so well.

I know it's been weeks since the final chapter came out but I can't get over how much Izuku and Katsuki's relationship objectively drove the story from start to finish, they don't want to exist without each other and they got the happy ending that was ripped away from another pair that All For One heavily projected onto: Yoichi and Kudo(I personally read that as a big brother not approving of how his younger brother chose to run away to be with another man, and how he chased after and killed both of them for it. You know like an older sibling not approving of their kid sibling's dating life).

Genuinely insane that their bond is the entire backbone of the story. Like, that's objectively correct. Even in the times before they were alive, there was a bkdk equivalent setting up the lore.

You can call it rivalries or hope or idealism or heroic spirit or whatever but we all know what this is, it's LOVE

Still mad we aren't getting Bakugou v AFO until next season because that freakout confusing Katsuki for Kudou is the funniest shit AFO has done. Starting with the most recent episode we have officially reached the "clowning on AFO" stage of the war and I love it.

Genuinely curious of what those 2 months Yoichi was with the rebels was like for afo?

My hc is that (much to Kudo's enjoyment) there were several points where All For One nearly died from lack of sleep/dehydration before the encounter in the sewers trying to look for any clues on where Yoichi could possibly be. Also forcing himself to stay awake so he didn't miss getting a call from his brother's "kidnappers"

complete hell.

see he didn't know what the people who took yoichi away from him were going to do to him. for all he knew they were going to torture him in order to get back at afo and could kill him at anytime they wanted. so he would get very little rest and eat very little food in order to dedicate every single waking hour to hunting them down. I feel like him nearly dying from pushing himself too hard could've happened as it was an extremely stressful time for him.

he would never admit it, but that two month period was the first time afo ever felt true fear because he had no control over what could happen to his brother and his mind was constantly coming up with wild scenarios about what they could be doing to his brother.

those days were some of the worst moments of his life only to be surpassed by yoichi's death shortly after. he went after kudou and the rebels thinking he was going to get yoichi back only to leave with just his severed hand in his possession. rip yoichi.

It sure could be! Chapter 257 gives us some good views of AFO “crushing the strong”, and I know there were a few theories that the panel of him standing atop rubble was depicting him having killed Yoichi, Kudou, and Third at the same time. That theory doesn’t hold true after 406-07, when it’s made clear Yoichi died before Kudou. And, assuming the force choke scene is in fact where AFO kills Kudou, then Third already has OFA and is offscreen somewhere, so the three are not dying at the exact same time. But it’s still possible this scene is showing Yoichi dying and Kudou being injured before AFO catches Kudou and finishes the job, and AFO will chase Third shortly after.

That said, I’m not convinced the clothing presentation is always identical, or that a light colored long sleeve means it MUST be Yoichi. On the next page of Ch.257, we see Shinomori passing OFA to Banjo (note the shoulder guard that Banjo has and Third does not), then Banjo to En’s hand, and finally En to Nana’s (gloved?) hand. Banjo’s sleeve is completely ripped up by the time he’s reaching out for En.

Shinomori’s clothing looks a little different on the left side vs the right. It’s almost like the right arm of his cropped jacket was torn off but his Under Armour stayed snugly in place. It’s hard to tell if that’s by his design or after a fight or what.

As for Kudou and Third, Kudou typically has long, dark sleeves and Third wears short sleeves but has light colored wraps from wrist to elbow (which could look like a sleeve if torn up).

Anyway, if you’ve read this far, the point is that we haven’t yet seen on-screen what, exactly, happened with Yoichi, Kudou, and Third after they un-vaulted (de-vaulted?) Yoichi. We know AFO was nearby or was somehow watching Yoichi escape, so he was able to give chase pretty quickly. But the sequence of events that led to the deaths of the first three wielders — basically the entire time until Shinomori disappeared into the forest with OFA for 18 years — is still quite mysterious. That excites me because it means there’s more to come!!!

However delirious the blood loss was making Kudou, Bruce’s leader still retained enough of his wit to squint suspiciously at Bruce’s frantic sorting of their meager medical supplies. Their rebellion operated on a shoestring budget; all the wealth was on All for One’s side, and it showed in the fact that all Bruce had on hand was an array of over-the-counter painkillers, rolls of cheap gauze, hand sanitizer, and tweezers. 

He dispatched someone to scrounge up a needle and thread, and another to start boiling water.

“Do you actually know how to do this,” Kudou slurred. He clutched a towel to his side, the vest and shirt already discarded. In their sprint to escape a whole squad of All for One groupies, some bastard with a meta ability managed to wound him from several meters away. An invisible shredder had spun past Bruce and ‘grazed’ Kudou, and now Bruce had a heavily bleeding leader curled up on a ratty futon in an abandoned apartment complex.

“I’m better than anyone else here,” Bruce responded, unashamedly dodging the question. “Takahashi asked me if he should find a stapler.”

Kudou made an unholy sounding groan in the back of his throat. “Like… like an office…?”

“Mm-hm. Don’t worry about it. You’re getting stitches.”

His leader looked doubtfully down at the rapidly-soaked towel, blood smearing dry on his hand, cold sweat beading on his forehead. Bruce flexed his hands, trying to work out the stiffness in his fingers, and he had to shake off Fa Jin’s curl of potential. This wasn’t the time to succumb to nerves or a burst of adrenaline.

“Miki also asked if she should heat up an iron,” Bruce said blandly.

“What are you… teaching them,” Kudou said, aggrieved.

“I’m not teaching anything. They’re picking it up from medical dramas.”

“Medical dramas?” he wheezed. “They cauterize wounds… in those?”

“How should I know? I was a medical student, I didn’t have time to watch TV.” Bruce spotted Takahashi hurrying towards them, Miki following close behind with a pot of steaming water. The latter was also carrying, of all things, a wooden spatula. They knelt around Kudou, passed their treasures onto the tray, and waited for Bruce to save the day. “What’s this for? I didn’t ask for this.”

“Leader has a habit of grinding his teeth,” Miki helpfully clarified. She gestured towards her jaw. “That’s so, you know, he doesn’t crack them while you stitch him up.”

Kudou clenched his jaw. Bruce could tell by the way a tendon at his throat popped into a taut line, and he admitted to himself that it was a well-intentioned idea. He grabbed a roll of gauze and started wrapping it around the spatula’s handle, layering the cotton in quick fashion.

“Takahashi. Take a new towel, dip it in the water, and start wiping off the blood. Miki, good thinking with this. Help Takahashi. And you, Leader,” Bruce said, ripping the end of the gauze and tucking it into a fold. “Bite down on this. This is going to hurt, and no one wants to hear you curse me into an early grave.”

“Go to hell--!” Kudou managed, before Bruce fitted the padded handle between his teeth.

Movie 13! One of my favourite movies of the series! Definitely one of my favourite starts to a movie.

I mean, it has Shinichi having a trauma induced nightmare over being found by the Black Organization, sadly something we don't see often in canon.

However this also addresses something that canon does not like too which is that Shinichi is not keeping Ran safe by hiding his identity from her. Just by living with her and Kogoro, he is putting them in danger if he is ever found out because as everyone who is associated with BO have told him, they will get rid of EVERYONE associated to his new and old identity. They almost killed Kogoro and Shinichi just to make sure he wasn't close to finding them out before. All keeping Ran in the dark does is put her in more danger. If only he would trust her, we would get more awesome scenes like the one we get to see in this movie where Ran fights on par with one of the members.

I know not to question it because the answer is anime logic but really how do those suspenders work T-T

I do appreciate all these detectives wondering where Conan is, you know they were all willing to let him inside the conference room. I love the imagery, all these cops paying a lot of attention to the seven year old in the room.

I genuinely hate how they hide information from Haibara. I don't even know why when her insider knowledge of the BO would be incredibly useful for Shinichi. Haibara has already said she doesn't want to run away anymore so she'll be willing to help while still be cautious about it, something Shinichi forgets when he's chasing them.

And this is why Shinichi needs to be more careful about becoming himself again, because a slip-up like what happened with Takagi could happen again. I know the boy has a flare for the dramatics but he should just join a drama club instead of putting his, and everyone elses, lives in danger.

I wonder why Shinichi picked a dolphin to make.

I love Shinichi's casual conversations with Vermouth. He knows she won't hurt him and will give him information for her own amusement.

And this is Shinichi's most insane plan so far (he tops it in Singapour). He actually takes down a helicopter and scares Gin. Imagine Gin's reaction when he learns it was a teenager in a child's body that did that too.

If only Shinichi could have framed that and sent it to Akai. He would be so proud of Shinichi.

This might sound weird. In my viewpoint AFO feels like a child trapped in a grown man's body with his attitude and mindset. A man-child if you will. He's trying to enact childish fantasies onto the world, this obsession may stem from an event he experienced in his youth. He feels like a kid, felt it again when he blamed Kudou this chapter. In a better world AFO would've gone into the age regression community to get his chance to act out his childish impulses in a safe environment to process whatever trauma he endured instead of taking it out on the world.

YEAH I'M LOVING IT BC

Hori typically uses child imagery to like, show characters at their most vulnerable and honest and represent like the "naked essence" of who they really are. AFO rewinding into a literal child plays with those expectations, in a way-- but in this case, AFO "at his most honest/vulnerable" is almost monstrous in its depiction:

Like, AFO's got some pretty heavily implied hang ups about feeling powerless/being powerless and he uses escapism + the constant degradation of others to distance himself as far as he can from those hang ups. I wouldn't be surprised if his backstory ends up depicting some horrible violation of his own autonomy where he was treated as subhuman/toyed with-- and he's now attempting to inflict that same feeling of powerlessness on everyone else. Instead of healing from whatever trauma he experienced, he's become a slave to it. Of course, there's always a chance I'm reading into this too much-- But Hori's been pretty consistent in his depiction of abuse as a cycle (esp. with the Kotaro-Tenko and Endeavor-Touya plots), so tbh, it would strike me as an odd writing choice if he decided "yeah, AFO just woke up one day and decided to Be Like That."

And I've said this before on twitter, but like-- AFO is SUCH an Umineko/"Witch" coded character. It's one of the reasons I find him so fascinating, bc I've always loved the way umineko depicts coping mechanisms in severely traumatized/abused individuals and how it depicts abuse as a vicious cycle:

In Umineko, "a witch" is typically a manifestation that's born from a person's horrible trauma (or from a person's "will" to overcome that trauma and escape from an otherwise inescapable fate). They're born from humans who have been violated in some terrible way and who are desperate to redefine themselves as something powerful-- something that transcends that pain, something that pain can no longer "touch." They reclaim a sense of agency over their trauma/abuse/etc by adopting powerful alter egos who blend fiction and reality-- but ultimately, it's all still a form of escapism.

It's hard not to see the similarities between how umineko defines "witches" and how mha defines "villains"-- especially with characters like AFO, Tomura, and Dabi who have all adopted trauma-based alter egos-slash-identities and who attempt to reclaim "agency" over their trauma in intensely destructive ways.

Like.... so much of heroaca is just "my trauma takes the form of a powerless child because that's how it made me feel, and that's how it still makes me feel even though I'm not a child anymore-- but what if you could see that?" and then AFO won't even allow that much bc he's throwing his whole afoussy into rejecting MHA's usual tactics for humanization and instead going "OH??? YOU LIKE CUTE KIDS???? YOU LIKE CUTE INNOCENT WEEPY KIDS?? I'LL SHOW YA'LL CUTE *rips his entire face open*". We gotta respect his commitment to the bit, I guess, but at the same time jesus fuckin' christ dude.😬
