Late Night Visitor
Warnings: unprotected sex with an ex
With a groan, you crawl out of bed and make your way to the door where someone insists on knocking like it’s not after midnight. You yank the door open with a growled what but you’re face instantly falls at what you find.
“Y/N, thank god you answered.” JJ sighs, clutching at his chest for a moment before tugging his hat off. He looks awful. His blue eyes are ringed red, his lip is split, and he reeks of booze. The dark circles under his eyes indicate he’s not sleeping much either.
“What are you doing here, JJ?” You ask, suddenly self conscious to the fact that you’re only wearing a long sleep shirt and panties in front of your ex.
“C-can I come in? I need to talk to you.” JJ insists, his blue eyes pleading with you. It breaks your heart and you can’t help but step aside so he can enter. It was your fault after all that he was in this state. You shut the door behind him and turn to face him. JJ releases a shuddering breath before taking a seat on a bar stool at the kitchen island.
“What’s this about?” You ask, keeping your arms crossed to conceal your nipples.
“I just… I just wanted to see you.”
“You said you needed to talk. So talk, J. It’s late.”
“I fucked up. I know that. I miss you so much I can hardly breathe.” Your heart lodges in your throat, his words instantly bringing tears to your eyes. You missed him too.
“Are you happier without me? Do you miss me at all?” The pain in his voice has tears streaming down your face. His own eyes filled with unshed tears. You hated this.
“J—.”
“I gave you everything I had.” JJ hiccups a sob, his own tears trailing down his cheeks. The more he talked, the more it hurt and you found yourself lunging forward to shut him up the only way you knew how.
He doesn’t hesitate in kissing you back, the salty taste of his tears lingering on his lips. His hands slide down your waist to cup your ass as he stands before quickly sitting you on the small dining room table. You press your hands against his broad chest as you pull your mouth from his to stare up into his hungry eyes.
“Just this once then you leave. You have to get your shit together. For me.” You insist, not letting him move in for another kiss until he nods angrily.
“Fine.” He grumbles, swatting your hands away and yanking you forward by the scruff of your neck. It’s so easy to give in to him. To fall back into that same pattern all over again. He was the love of your life but he had to fix his own demons before he could love you the way you deserved. He had to find himself worthy of your love. Breaking up was the only way to insure distance. Except now.
JJ’s lips are feverish and hard, his shorts coming now in record time before he rips your panties down your legs. He’s never been this rough and eager before. He must really be hurting. You open your mouth to tell him to slow down when two fingers roughly slam into your pussy, making your jerk and gasp as he finds your g spot so quickly. His movements hard and fast.
You cling to his shirt with one hand, stroking his hard cock with the other as your foreheads rest together. The sound of your wetness and heavy breathing echoes in the small apartment as JJ quickly brings you to your release. He doesn’t wait for you to come down before he’s thrusting inside you, his hand wound in your hair to hold you close. His cock touches so deep that it aches, your walls still spasming from your first orgasm as he rapidly brings you to another with every rough stroke. The table scoots across the floor with every lust filled grunt from him, his jaw in a hard line as you cry out for him.
“Fuck, J.” You push at his chest for some relief, the sensitivity becoming painful but he only spared you a moment as he quickly pulls you to your feet and bends you over the table. His front molds to your back as he fills you up from behind, one hand on your hip and the other cupping your throat. JJ grunts and moans in your ear as he steals another orgasm from you and causing your legs to nearly give out.
“You’re never getting rid of me.” JJ growls in your ear with each hard snap of his hips. You lift your leg up onto the table, your back and neck arched as you moan in response. His lips find your neck, gentling biting and sucking so you have to wear his mark for the next few days.
“I’m inside you and I’m never letting you go. I promise.” JJ growls, groaning a second later as he fills you to the brim with his seed.
“JJ.” Your body starts to slump before he quickly withdraws and sits you on the table, his fingers roughly pushing his cum back inside your sore pussy. You whine just as he kisses you, his free hand tangling in your hair.
“Let me come home, baby. I’ll wake you up every morning showing you I’ve changed.”

|| Mind Over Matter || Part Two
Summary: Evelyn is Penelope Garcia's protegé. She is a tech wiz, and knows her way around any kind of security and just like her mentor knows how to dig deep and get into the past of anyone and has a knack for anything with a chip in it. Including potato chips. The one thing she fails at is figuring out is the mind and how it works. Rated T for blood and language.
Pairing: Spencer Reid x Evelyn Richardson(OC) Rating || Genres || Warnings: T+ Romance. Adventure. Family. Some language, blood and violence in later installments. Previously - Part One
A/N: I hope you’re all enjoying the uploads so far! If you have any random requests or questions just let me know!
Takes place during and after episode four season one.
Evelyn slammed the door of her car shut with her foot, gripping the unmarked white box firmly yet gently as she walked across the parking lot towards the FBI building. Catching sight of her team member just going through the glass doors she quickened her pace.
"JJ! Mind holding that door open!" She called out. The blonde turned where she was, a little surprised at red head's sudden appearance but stepping aside and holding the door open for her all the same. JJ nodded her head in the direction of the box.
"Whats in there?" She asked as they walked down the corridor towards the bullpen.
"You'll see" The red head grinned, walking towards Morgan's desk, as JJ followed after her. Morgan, who had been sitting with his feet on his desk, stood up at the sight of his two team members. Evelyn placed the box on his desk.
"Elle distracting Spencer?" She asked, turning to look at her friend who nodded.
"They'll be back in fifteen minutes or so." He replied, checking his phone before he did. Evelyn nodded.
"Thats plenty of time." She said, before removing the lid of the box and carefully picking up the cake that was inside. She held it out for her team members to see.
"Well what do you think?" She asked, a bit uncertainly as both JJ and Morgan stared at the cake. Morgan chuckled.
"Sweetheart, you went all out this year." He grinned and Evelyn grinned back. Sweetheart was one of the many nicknames Morgan had for the blue eyed ginger.
"Wait! You made that yourself?" JJ asked, tearing her eyes away from the cursive and elegantly written Happy Birthday. The red head nodded.
"Yeah! I make a cake every year on special occasions." She explained, walking towards Spencer's desk as she did.
"It looks really professional!" JJ said, not taking her eyes off the cake. Evelyn shrugged.
"You pick up a few things over the years." She muttered, setting the cake down carefully on Spencer's desk.
"You got the candles?" She asked turning to Morgan who nodded, opening a drawer and extracting a packet of colorful little candles.
"Got 'em right here." He said holding them up and grinning. "Oh!" He paused as if remembering something and leaned down under his desk to grab a bag, pulling a hat out of it. JJ raised an eyebrow at the item while Evelyn laughed.
"That looks like a Mad Hatter's hat gone wrong." She giggled, before giving her friend a thumbs up.
"Nice job!" Morgan gave a little bow while she grabbed the candles and glancing at the packet, raising an eyebrow.
"Trick candles. Really?" Morgan only grinned and shrugged, while Evelyn shook her head.
"And people say I'm the youngest." She muttered before ripping open the packet and lining up the candles neatly in front of her.
"JJ? Would you mind getting Gideon and Hotch from their offices please?"
"Only if you tell me what kind if cake this is." The blonde asked, smiling teasingly. Evelyn grinned.
"Chocolate." She replied simply. JJ's eyes seemed to shine with excitement before she went off to perform her task.
————————–
Evelyn and JJ had developed a friendly relationship after the former's initial shyness had worn off. JJ had been quick to learn that Evelyn had been a daddy's girl growing up, and since JJ herself had been one she knew the pain the younger woman felt at loosing her father since she had lost her's at a young age as well. Evelyn had been quite open about her father and had praised him so much that it was easy to see she had adored the man growing up. JJ was glad she had made a new friend like Evelyn. The girl was sweet and awkward once you got past the shyness she carried about her. JJ wasn't normally friends with quite people but Evelyn was an exception.
Apart from Reid that is.
————————–
Evelyn hummed under her breath as she picked up the last candle and placed it on top of the cake carefully, making sure that none of the candles would disturb the cursive icing which had the words, Happy Birthday Spencer, spelled out.
"That looks spectacular Evelyn." The red head turned to see Agent Gideon leaning over her shoulder to look at her little masterpiece. Her cheeks reddened slightly at the compliment.
"It's nothing Agent Gideon." She muttered, shyly averting her gaze from her superior. Morgan chuckled, ruffling her hair.
"Awww. Little Evelyn's embarrassed." He cooed as the red head batted his hands away from her head, her blush very noticeable against her pale cheeks.
"Quit it, Morgan!" She grumbled, pouting as she did. Morgan only laughed as he started lighting up the candles with a cigarette lighter he had borrowed. JJ soon came back with Agent Hotch following after her. His eyes widened slightly at the sight of the cake.
"Going all out this year Evelyn?" He asked, smiling slightly at the sight of the blushing red head.
"I always go out every year Hotch!" She protested, stomping her foot slightly, and pouting, looking every bit the child she was. Evelyn may have become an FBI Agent at quite a young age but that did not mean that she grew up with it. Small streaks of her childish behavior would come out every now and then especially when she was embarrassed or in a mischievous mood. She never showed that side of her while working. When it came to work Evelyn was as serious and dedicated as any other FBI Agent, if not better, as Hotch and Gideon had discussed amongst themselves.
Lighting the last of the candles Morgan checked his phone.
"They're coming." He announced. And sure enough at the very same moment, Spencer and Elle rounded the corner entering the bullpen.
"Here comes the birthday boy!" Morgan called out, startling the young man, as he looked towards the source of the noise. His lips pulled into a sheepish smile as JJ and Morgan started to clap and hoot. Elle joining them while Evelyn raced forward and placed the hat on top of his head.
"Happy Birthday Spence!" She grinned up at him, leaning up on her tip toes to adjust the hat. She grabbed his hand, leading him over to his desk.
"Happy Birthday Reid." Hotch gave a small smile as he wished the young doctor.
"Thanks Hotch. Thanks you guys." Reid said glancing around at his friend before he was pushed into the chair and he finally saw the cake with all the candle flickering on top. He recognized the cursive, neat icing immediately and glanced up at Evelyn.
"Thanks for the cake Evelyn. Its beautiful."
The effect was almost immediate. Evelyn's pale cheeks, already slightly pink from her past blush, came back full force and her cheeks grew red, as she averted her eyes from her friend's and looked down on the ground.
"You're welcome Spence."
Elle smiled throwing an arm around the younger girl's shoulder and squeezing her before turning to the birthday boy.
"Make a wish!" She said, gesturing towards the candles, where the wax was beginning to melt faster. Spencer nodded his head dutifully before taking a deep breath and blew the breath out.
"Come on man! Blow, baby blow!" Morgan laughed as Reid tried his best to blow out the candles. Evelyn started to giggle at his futile attempts.
"I thought you were full of hot air Reid." Elle called out, getting a laugh out of everyone.
"Come on, Reid." Morgan urged.
Previous shyness forgotten Evelyn hooted and clapped her hands. "Come on Reid!" She said.
Of course their fun had to end sometime.
"They're trick candles, Spence. Okay?" JJ explained taking pity on him after the candles went out before coming back on again.
"They're gonna come back on every time." JJ said as Reid tried one more time before giving up.
"Awww, mommy's here to rescue you!" Morgan, playing with the hat placed on his head as Evelyn grabbed the plates Elle had brought and placed them next to the cake.
"Mommy?" Reid asked confused, not really getting the reference as the others laugh. Evelyn patted his back affectionately.
"Don't worry that big head of yours Spence." She giggled when he turned his head to her, his eyes wide in the best imitation he had of a puppy eyed look, and she tapped the side of his head.
"Reid? Is it legal yet to take you to a bar or something?" Morgan teased, earning him an elbow in the gut from the red head, who shook her finger at him.
"Lay off Morgan. Its his birthday today." She scolded as JJ reached forward and picked up a candle from the cake.
"Hope you like chocolate." She said, smiling at the young doctor.
"You're getting wax on the cake man." Morgan said as JJ and Elle removed the candles. Spotting Hotch and Gideon standing a little ways away from the little group Evelyn walked over to them.
"You guys not joining in?" She asked. Hotch gave a small smile.
"We came in a couple of shots Evelyn." The red head smiled sheepishly as she turned to give a thumbs up to a fellow agent who was holding a small camera. He smiled back, before sitting down on his desk. Evelyn turned back to the two older agents and shrugged.
"You know I can't resist." She said. Hotch only shook his head before walking over to an agent who had called out to him. Just then Reid walked over to Gideon as Evelyn took Hotch's position leaning against the wall, her arms crossed behind her back, humming a tune that sounded suspiciously like happy birthday.
"You having fun?" Gideon asked, turning to look at him.
"Yes, definitely. I'm definitely having fun." He said in a monotone voice. Evelyn's humming got louder at the comment, which earned her a glare from him, which she responded with a grin and poked her tongue out at him.
"Make a wish?" Gideon asked, ignoring the small exchange between the two friends.
"Can I take this hat off?" Reid asked, motioning towards the hat Evelyn had placed on his head. Gideon turned his head to see Evelyn, pouting at the man. He sighed, shaking his head, before turning to look at Spencer again.
"I wouldn't." He advised. He smiled inwardly when he heard a quite exclamation of 'Yes!' beside him.
"Hey Spence." The three of them turned to see JJ holding out a piece of birthday cake. "First piece for the birthday boy." She said smiling. Reid took a step forward before retracing said step.
"Do you know she's the only person in the whole world who calls me "Spence"?" He commented laughing nervously. Evelyn frowned as she followed after him.
"I call you Spence too!" She said, to which he responded with a shrug.
"You only call me Spence sometimes. She calls me Spence all the time." Evelyn only shrugged at his response.
"I can call you Spence all the time too you know." She grinned. He smiled and tucked his hands in the pockets of his pants.
"Only if I get to call you Evie."
Evelyn never let anyone call her Evie. She said she preferred Evelyn and had told no one why it was so. Whatever the case was, Spencer had tried on numerous occasions to guess why she didn't wanted to be called Evie, and he was still trying. The two of them had a bet going that if he ever guessed it he would be allowed to call her Evie for all her life. So far he had not been able to guess at all. Which was why he had decided to try a new track. However she only shook her head at him, smiling.
"We are not going back on our little agreement Spence." She said, to which he pouted. Evelyn only laughed pushing him in JJ's direction.
"Now go get your cake." She called ignoring the look he threw over his shoulder and accepting the cake with a thank you. The red head sighed before crossing her arms over her chest, biting down on her lip.
"You know, you have to tell him one of these days." She turned to see Gideon standing next to her. He had watched the whole exchange.
"He's a profiler he'll get it one of these days." He warned her to which she only shrugged.
"Then I'll tell him to call me Evie." She muttered under her breath, trying not to let the pain on her face show every time she heard the name, either from her own lips or from someone else's it didn't really matter.
"Hey Evelyn? You're not gonna try out your own cake?" Elle called out, holding up a slice. The red head's lips pulled into a smile, previous traces of pain and sadness forgotten as she bounded over to her fellow agent and took the plate from her with a thank you.
The festive mood however was broken when Hotch called over.
"Sorry, guys. Party's over."
Evelyn deflated visibly at the words, but put her plate down nonetheless, smiling at how Morgan seemed to be shoveling the cake into his mouth as fast as he could. Spencer took off his hat, finishing the last bite of his cake. He reached out for his messenger bag when Evelyn tapped the side of his arm to get his attention. He turned to see her holding out her hand.
"Can I have your keys? I can drop the cake off on my home from work tonight." Spencer nodded as he grabbed his house keys and handed them over to her. She smiled in thanks before picking up the cake and placing it back inside the box.
"I'll see you guys when you get back then." She said, giving a half hearted wave in her Team's direction. Morgan ruffled her hair, while JJ and Elle shot her smiles. She smiled back, picking up the cake and starting to walk to the small kitchen to put the cake in the fridge.
"Where are you all going anyway?" She asked Hotch as he walked by.
"San Diego."
————————–
Evelyn sighed as she plopped down into her chair. It was the second day since her Team's departure and she was already starting to miss them. This wasn't a new occurrence, it was their job to go from state to state, from town to town catching all the monsters out there, but that didn't mean that she didn't miss them every time they did. But it was their job and she had to go with it. And since she was always being updated on the cases by researching and digging up all the dirt on anyone her Team requested alongside Penelope it wasn't like she was being kept out of the loophole. She was very much part of the loophole.
But being confined in the four walls of her office was different then being out in the field. She had never been out there. Not once. Of course she had gone to a few cases, whenever they had needed technical assistance but she had never been allowed to go to the actual crime scenes. She was fine with that though. Evelyn didn't know how much a strong stomach she had. Quite strong she had reasoned since she didn't throw up or faint at the sight of the mangled and mutilated bodies of the people murdered while going through the Team's Case files.
The young technician glanced at her digital clock, not even fazed when she read the numbers glowing, indicating that it was almost midnight. She leaned her head back against the back rest of her chair, closing her slightly aching eyes, giving them time to rest for a few seconds, from all the computer screen time she had done that day.
Somebody was shaking her shoulder.
"-lyn? Eve-? Evelyn?"
And calling out her name.
But she was too tired and sleepy so she simply batted the hand away and tried to roll over in her bed.
Of course she wasn't in her bed.
An involuntary shriek erupted from her lips as she fell from the chair she had been sitting on. Luckily she landed on her hands and knees and not on her face, saving her from another pair of broken glasses. But whoever it was found the situation funny since they started to laugh. She lifted her face to see Spencer smiling down at her, holding out his hand.
"Being a genius and all, you should've known not to wake up a person sleeping in a chair." She muttered, taking his hand and standing up, straightening and dusting herself off as she did. Spencer only shrugged.
"Actually with the angle your head was in its a good thing I awoke you or you would've complained about the crick you would've gotten in your neck." Evelyn narrowed her eyes at him, before crossing her arms over her chest.
"What do you want?" She demanded, still cranky about having her nap interrupted.
"Well I want my keys back." He said, leaning forward to straighten a pile of papers as he did. "We just got back from the case and I want to go home now please?" He shrugged, adding a pleading tone at the end. Evelyn reached for her own messenger bag rummaging through it as she did.
"How'd the case go?" She asked. She already knew how it went but she just wanted to ask him herself.
"It went alright. I mean we caught the guy." Spencer offered the answer, keeping it brief and short. Evelyn nodded, as she finally found his keys.
"And that is all that matters." She said, holding the keys out for him to take. He muttered a thanks as he took them, before frowning slightly as he caught sight of something.
"These weren't there before." He said, holding up the keys so that the key chains could be seen.
While one looked old and faded the other two looked brand new. One was a small glass cube with a small card of the Ace of Hearts in the middle, while the other was a little Einstein, with its hair sticking out in all directions.
"Oh!" Evelyn gave a sheepish smile, reaching up to pull at the right tendril of hair at the side of her face, which Spencer had noticed she did when she was feeling shy or embarrassed.
"I was just walking by and I saw them through a window." She shrugged. "Its just a little birthday present. Do you like them?" She asked, her voice hopeful yet fearful at the same time.
Being a profiler Reid couldn't help it when he unconsciously made a little profile of every single person he met. And Evelyn was no exception. He knew that she was very very insecure about everything she did and even who she was. She tried her best to please people, no matter what the consequences, and would ask how she did after performing the task. Gideon had told him once that Evelyn was like that because of something that happened to her in her childhood but he wouldn't explain any further. And Reid had let it rest at that.
Seeing her look up at him with those wide blue expectant eyes he smiled, gripping the keys tightly in his hands.
"Thanks. They're great. I really like them."
He wasn't lying. He really did like the key chains and the smile she gave him made him glad that he did. He glanced down at his watch.
"Alright I gotta get back home. I'll see you tomorrow then." He said, to which she nodded.
"Have a goodnight. I still have these files to go through." She gestured towards the pile in front of her.
"Happy reading!" He called, closing the door behind him but not before he heard her saying quietly to herself.
"Maybe I should put a couple into Morgan's pile..."

JJ didn't have to watch the live feed. Instead, he got to listen to crying and half-hearted insults.
Ruby didn't get fucked like a whore. Instead, she was held, cradled, and babied until she fell asleep.
Rafe didn't do any other degrading shit. Instead, he tucked Ruby in bed and went down to the bar.
Kie didn't pine over her unrequited lover. Instead, she laid on the shitty cot in the shitty basement.
To say none of them were happy would be an understatement in the least.
--
When the doorbell rings 'round eleven the next morning, Rafe stumbles to the door, a half-empty glass of amber whiskey in one hand. He's a mess, shirt untucked and tie undone, slacks wrinkled and the red mark on his cheek screaming I fell asleep at the bar.
"Wh-- What d'you want?" He slurs at the person, who turns. It's a delivery girl, her ponytail pulled out the back of her hat and a clipboard atop a package in her arms.
"Are you Rafe Cameron?" She asks. She looks familiar, but Rafe can't place her.
"Yeah..." He eyes her suspiciously. "I didn't order shit."
"Oh, I know," The girl says cheerfully, holding out the clipboard. "Sign on that bottom line, please."
Rafe stares at the clipboard skeptically before doing as she says. The girl trades him back for the box.
"You're all set!" She says with a smile.
"Wait, hey--" Rafe stumbles to the side, gripping the box tightly. "You look... I know you."
The girl's face seems to whiten, then color returns and she shakes her head. "Don't think so."
"Yeah, no, yeah, I do. Uh--"
"I don't know you," She says, backing down the stairs.
A click, a bridge--
"Sage? Y-You're Sage. The fuck are you doing here? Did John B send you?" He steps onto the porch, lunging for Sage poorly, and she sidesteps, running back to her van. "Don't fuckin' run from me!"
Rafe trips back up the stairs, kneeling on the floor and grabbing the box, ripping it open.
It's a photo of him and Kie putting Ruby in the car and a note that reads 'You won't get away with this.'

The forbidden zone- Pogue x OC
summary: It’s time to look for the wreck and the weather won’t stop them.
wc: 4,752
a/n: here it is! as requested 😁 @halsmultibitch and i have so so many ideas. we can’t wait for all of you to read it!! happy reading 🦋
prologue~ pilot~ the lucky compass
Previously on Good Life...
Lani had volunteered to climb into it since she was the smallest. Once inside she asked for a flashlight due to it being so dark. She looked around for a bit until she found an envelope leaned against the wall.
“Oh my god.” she whispered as she stared at it. ‘To Bird.’ it read.
John B stared at the envelope in adoration, perfectly knowing it was from his dad. JJ helped Lani out of the tomb as a cold breeze ran through the trees making her shiver.
“Holy shit. This is from my dad.” He said and looked around as his friends while JJ lit his blunt, puffing some smoke. Suddenly, car headlights came into view coming their way.
“Code red. Code red. Square groupers!” JJ said desperately as he walked backwards to his friends.
“Oh my god, go.” Lani said, pulling Kie’s arm to hide next to the tomb. They all got down and fidgeted with their flashlights to turn them off.
“Light!”
“Turn it off, John B!” the curly haired kook exclaimed as she saw the pogue jam the flashlight up his shirt. JJ turned off his cigarette against the wall as they all stayed there quietly. The car came to a stop as a man climbed out.
“I think I see something!” He shouted to the other person in the car as JJ and Pope peeked their heads out, trying to see.
“Is it them?” Lani whispered to the boys feeling fear in the pit of her stomach.
“Homie’s got a gun.” JJ whispered as he turned back to lean against the wall.
“Oh fuck this.” Fallon muttered as she stood up before running off. John B immediately followed, then Kie, Lani, JJ and finally, Pope. Everyone made it over the fence successfully until Pope’s pants got stuck. Of course he’s the one that gets stuck, classic Pope.
“Guys, guys. I’m stuck!” He said as he desperately tried to free himself from the fence.
“I got you, buddy.” Lani said as she came for his rescue alongside John B. They used all they’re strength to get him out causing the pants to start ripping.
“Guys, you’re gonna rip me.”
“Pope, don’t move okay?” JJ said as he held up his gun towards the pogue.
“JJ, what the fuck? Put that down, man.” John B pushed his arm down making the blonde put the gun back in his cargo shorts.
“No, no. You’re gonna rip me. No! You’re ripping me!” and with that Pope fell from the fence leaving his shorts hanging.
“Oh my god.” Lani laughed as she walked backwards to get to the car.
“Hey, it's a little Tootsie roll!” JJ shouted, making everyone laugh as they all ran to the car. Fallon opened the door waiting for them to get closer.
“Get in.” Kie laughed as she saw Pope climbing in in his underwear.
“What the hell happened?” Fallon slid the door close and turned to Pope who was frowning in annoyance.
“You don’t wanna know.” he groaned as he sat at the chair at the back of the van. They went back to the Chateau, quickly clearing a space to look at what the envelope had. JJ ran to the kitchen looking for food since he hasn’t eaten all day. He found some bread, some peanut and jelly making his eyes sparkle as his stomach growled.
“That bread has had mold for like a week.” Lani said as she opened her water bottle to take a sip.
“I’ll just pull off the bad parts. Plus, mold is good for you. It’s just a natural organism.” he said, picking up the sandwich and moving to take a bite off of it, receiving a disgusted look from the kook.
“Guys!” Kie called as John B pulled out a map from the envelope.
“We’re going.” Lani said walking out of the kitchen with JJ trailing behind her as he took a bite off the sandwich.
“Mmm.” JJ muttered and then gagged as he spit out the piece of moldy bread.
“Told you not to eat it.” The kook with her arms crossed made the pogue pull out the middle finger. The pogue opened the map to see coordinates, scribbled lines and an x.
“Well, x marks the spot.” Fallon said, pointing her finger on the map.
“Longitud, latitud… wait, there's something else in there.” John B said as he traced his finger along the lines before dropping it and picking up the envelope again. He reached in and pulled out a tape recorder.
“What’s that?” JJ asked in confusion.
“It’s a tape recorder, J.” Lani said, looking at him and chuckling a bit. The pogue held the recorder for a bit more and started playing it to reveal his dad’s voice. Big John talked about the Royal Merchant, how he found it. He actually found it, which was a huge surprise to everyone, including John B. Once the recorder stopped, the room was filled with silence until JJ broke it.
“Holy shit, he found it! Big John…. He found the Merchant.” He lifted his arms in excitement as Lani stood up straight and forcefully lowered his arms.
“Can you not right now, JJ?” Fallon said, running her hand through her hair. John B stood up and leaned against the door as he began to cry. Kie went to his side and hugged him, giving him comfort as his tears continued to roll down his cheeks.
A few hours later, everyone was found on the docks. Kie was playing her ukulele, Lani was sketching Pope and everyone else drinking beer in silence.
“How much was it again?” JJ asked and sipped from his beer can before tossing it aside.
“Four hundred mil.” Lani said never parting her eyes from the sketchbook as she erased the eyebrow to fix it’s arch.
“All right, let’s talk split. Now, before we say “evenly” may I remind you that I am the only one that can probably defend us from those square groupers that were after us. Protection? Not cheap, okay?” He said, holding his gun up for everyone to see trying to make a point.
“You haven’t trained. You’ve done zero training.” Fallon crossed her arms leaning against the railing.
“Youtube, Fal.” he winked at the caramel haired pogue making her stick out her tongue making him chuckle.
“You haven’t-” Pope started objecting when JJ cut him off.
“Any objections? Didn’t think so.” Lani and Kie were holding up their hands in objection but were ignored by the pogue.
“There’s a couple objections.”
“I don’t hear any so…”
“Okay well, what are you gonna do with 66 mil Pope?” Fallon said, cutting him off and she sat down on the floor.
“Pay for college in advance. And also, textbooks. Those are expensive.”
“What about you, Kie?”
“Yeah, what does a socalist do when she’s rich?” Lani asked, smirking at the pogue who chuckled at her question.
“Just wanna make a double album. About the OBX, the pogues. You know, the way Catch a Fire is about Kingston. Record it in Marley studio, Peter Tosh producing. And before you say anything Pope, yes I know Peter Tosh is dead.” The pogue lifted his hands in surrender as he laughed at her last comment.
“Lani? What about you?” John B asked, leaning back on his beach chair as he opened a new beer can.
“I’m not sure what she would want. She’s already rich.” Fallon muttered under her breath making the kook frown as her face fell making her look at her sketchbook.
“Well, you’re rich too but you don’t see me making comments about it.” Everyone opened their eyes and muttered ‘ooo’s’ as Lani looked at John B to answer his question.
“I wanna go to Italy, get a house by the beach. Not even a house, I want a cute little hud with a window facing the ocean. So, I can paint and eat all the pasta I can get.” she said and raised her beer can in the form of the toast before sipping from the cold beverage.
“Fal, your turn.” JJ smiled, turning his head towards her as he fidgeted with his lighter.
“I’m gonna leave Outer Banks. I’ve only felt trapped here. So, I wanna go and I don’t know… escape life, I guess.” John B nodded and lifted his beer can in agreement while the blonde pogue nodded too.
“I know what I’ll do. I’m gonna get a big ass house on Figure Eight and go full Kook.”
“Full kook?” “You are not going full kook.” Lani and Fallon said at the same time, making him laugh.
“Yes, full kook. I’m gonna get a big statue of myself and a koi pond with a bunch of fish.” He said making circular movements with his hands as he described the pond.
“You know I’m never visiting right?” Kie said, placing her ukulele back on her lap.
“What are you gonna do, John B?” Lani asked, leaning towards Pope, handing him the portrait she made.
“To going full Kook.” he smiled as he stood up and held his beer can up causing everyone else to hold up their beverages too.
“To going full Kook.” They hollered and laughed as the night went by smoothly. Lani was starting to feel like part of the group now which made her very happy since she was never the girl to have a bunch of friends. All of her ‘friends’ were the children of her parents' business partners, whom she never really liked.
The next day came around, sunny as ever giving the pogues the perfect idea to go on a boat ride on the marsh. They got ready in record time with their swimsuits and the cooler filled with drinks and the ice Pope brought from his dad’s store. They picked up Kie at her house’s dock first and then Lani, who wasn’t far. As they sailed through the marsh, getting to their favorite spot, JJ spotted two kooks on their own new boat.
“Holy shit. You guys see that? That’s the Malibu 24-MXZ, the world’s finest wakesetter. Number one in luxury, quality and performance. That’s 200k easy.” He said squinting his eyes behind his sunglasses moving his head to his friends and back at the kooks.
“No, here comes Malibu Barbie and Ken.” Fallon tilted her head as she laughed at her joke.
“You don’t have to act like you don’t see us, bitch.” Kie said as she looked at Sarah while the boats crossed paths. The blonde kook waved and smiled at Lani causing her to do the same thing.
“Of course, you wave at her.” the caramel haired pogue scoffed in annoyance.
“Says the one who’s friends with Rafe.” Pope muttered under his breath loud enough for the pogue to hear and blush.
“She’s been nothing but nice to me. I have no hate against her.” The kook shook her head as she continued sketching. Most of the day was spent swimming, drinking and planning on how to get a computer with the Internet in order to find the coordinates from Big John’s map. After the marsh, they all went back to the Chateau to get dressed so they could begin their trip to the hotel JJ worked at. Everyone got into the van making their way to their destination as they jammed to Kie’s favorite reggae music and JJ’s classic rock playlist.
“All right, we should keep a lookout. We’re behind enemy lines.” JJ said as he pulled his gun out from the glove department while they parked outside.
“Come on, man. Just put it back.”John B said, turning off the car as he ran a hand through his hair.
“What?”
“JJ-”
“You can never be too careful.” he muttered as the door slid open for Pope to climb out.
“Bringing a gun to a four star hotel will cause more problems than actually solve.” The curly haired pogue said as he leaned against the door next to JJ. He muttered a ‘thanks’ before Lani popped her head in between John B and the blonde.
“JJ, put that shit away or I'll throw it in the ocean.” She said and quickly got out of the van as John B ripped the gun off of JJ’s hand, putting it back where it was.
“Okay, let’s go.” Fallon shouted as she closed the van door ready to walk in.
“Wait! Can’t forget my badge.” the blonde pogue smiled and pulled out his employee ID.
“Professional busboy.” Kie rolled her eyes and continued to walk behind Lani who was already halfway to the entrance. They walked in through the back into the kitchen where a few of JJ’s co-workers said hi and asked him how he was doing, some eyeing Fallon which was an everyday occurrence for her. After going up a few stairs, they finally made it to the lobby and walked towards a semi secluded room with computers.
“Sweet lord, the Internet.” Pope said, running towards the device almost like he was gonna hug and kiss it.
“Let me get in there. Check on my insta models.” JJ said as he leaned down next to Pope making Lani chuckle as she sat down.
“What insta models?” Fallon questioned as her arms crossed over her chest.
“No one, no one.” he muttered, never parting his eyes from the screen. They started looking for the coordinates written on the map and found how deep that part of the ocean was. To get there, they needed some type of submarine to be able to find the Royal Merchant. JJ gave the idea of getting the drone at the salvage yard where his dad used to work. On the way to the salvage yard, Pope couldn’t help but comment on how real or fake this wild goose chase was.
“So, what’s it gonna be? Fantasy or reality?”
“Fantasy.” Fallon muttered as she rolled JJ’s blunt.
“Fantasy but possible reality.” Kie stared at John B through the rear view mirror with sad eyes, feeling pity for her best friend.
“Both.” Lani said rummaging through her bag as she placed her sketchbook and pencils back.
“Virtual reality.” JJ groaned as he leaned forward to grab the blunt.
“Reality.” the shaggy haired pogue said, turning his head to look at the kook sitting in the passenger seat. Lani stared at him and gave him a sad smile as the van came to a stop not too far from the salvage yard. They ran over the plan one more time, making sure everyone understood. Especially JJ, he had a tendency of improvising everything. Lani got out of the van first, throwing her bag over her shoulder as she crossed the street to Kie’s car. Fallon slid the van door open and stepped out but was held back by a muscular hand.
“Can’t Kie go?” JJ asked worriedly not liking the idea of his lifelong crush distracting a man with her looks.
“No, she can’t and it’s not like you care anyway.” she spat out as she pulled her hand away from the pogue, slamming the door shut. The kook was putting her things in the car, making sure everything was rightfully placed when she turned to ask the pogue a question.
“Hey, Kie did you see th- You’re not Kie.” Lani said as she noticed her partner for that crima wasn’t who she thought.
“I’m not thrilled about this either but they made me, so let’s just get it over with.” the pogue said bitterly as she got in the passenger seat leaving the kook alone and confused. The short ride to the salvage yard was filled with tension and awkward silence. Neither of them know what to say.
“Should I go call him or do you-”
“I’ll go.” Fallon spat dryly, cutting Lani off as she quickly got out of the car. The kook sat there staring at the pogue as she walked towards the gate giving her some time to sigh and think to herself ‘this is harder than i thought’. After a few seconds, the gates opened cueing her to get out of the car and stand by the flat tire. The rest of the pogues were hiding by the gates as they saw the scene unfold.
“It’s not weird, awkward or anything.” John B whispered, never parting his eyes from the girls as he answered Pope’s question.
“I told you she wasn’t into you.” Kie said suddenly which confused JJ more.
“Who isn’t into you?”
“He kissed Fallon.” Pope whispered immediately, opening his eyes wide realizing what he had done. JJ’s nostrils flared as anger burst through his body.
“Well, she can kiss whoever she wants. She’s not dating anyone.” he said with gritted teeth as he gripped the wood harder.
“Yeah, it’s just us.” Lani smiled, answering the guard’s question while leaning against the boat. He stared at them for a long time, moving his eyes from their legs up to their faces and back to the tire. Suddenly, barks came from the yard making the guard stand up and turn to the gate.
“Tebow’s got something.”
“Oh no, I don't think so.” Fallon said, placing a piece of hair behind her ear.
“Yeah, maybe it’s a racoon.” Lani nodded and smiled, giving the man enough reassurance to go back to the tire. They noticed that he was finishing way too fast which meant that the boys could get caught but luckily, Fallon had an idea.
“Oh, I forgot to call my mom. I’ll be right back.” she said before disappearing around the boat making it look like she was grabbing her phone. When in reality, she was using a hairpin to deflate the other tire. Fallon stayed like that for a bit not realizing how long she took until she heard Lani’s protest to the guard.
“No, she’s talking with her mom. Something private. Sh-she’s probably crying!” The kook shouted as the guard pushed her aside as saw Fallon defaulting the tire on purpose , giving him the realization of what was going on. He began walking backwards as the girls looked at him holding their hands up trying to keep him from running. But of course, that failed miserably as the man bolted towards the gate making the girls run to the inside of the car.
“Shit! Shit! He’s gonna call the cops. We need to tell them.” Fallon closed the door and put her seat belt on as Lani turned on the car.
“Just call Kie, we have to go.” and with that, she drove out of there leaving the pogues behind. After a while, they all met back at the Wreck feeling all of their stomachs growl. Kie immediately hugged her dad when he saw him as the pogues walked towards the tables.
“Hey, Mike.” Lani waved sweetly as she walked towards the counter.
“Hey, how’s John doing?”
“Oh, he’s good. Just working with mom a lot.”
“That’s really nice. Can I get you anything?”
“Can I have the turkey sandwich? With fries?” she smiled, reaching into her purse to pull out her wallet. Mike nodded and walked away into the kitchen. Fallon stared at the whole interaction, feeling pissed on how Lani had “stolen” everything from her. The kook paid and left a $5 tip before walking towards the pogues, who were starting to sit down.
The restaurant closed, only leaving them in there to eat. Kie turned up the radio as one of her favorite songs came on. She pointed at John B which resulted in them dancing. JJ stood up to throw something away when he saw Lani’s drawing, again. Giving him the perfect idea, to dance with her.
JJ tapped her shoulder making her turn around as he extended his hand for her to grab. Lani timidly looked around and placed her hand on his, making him grab it immediately as he pulled her out of the chair. JJ started dancing with her as well as making funny faces to make her laugh. Fallon wasn’t laughing, at all. If looks could kill, there would be two dead bodies already.
JJ swung her around and dipped as she laughed hysterically at the gesture since she has never really danced with anyone. As this all happened, Pope and Fallon sat drinking beers alone. He turned to her and raised his bottle to toast, making her chuckle. The bottles clinked together and they drank from it as the song ended.
“Well, let’s get going guys.” John B announced as it was getting late. They threw away the wrappers and paper cups before stepping outside. Lani left with Kie since they lived close by to each other, which left Fallon with the boys.
“I think I’m gonna walk home.” she said as they got into the van.’
“You’re not gonna walk.” JJ refused, stepping out of the Twinkie.
“I am gonna walk. I need to think and some time alone.” and with that she walked away ignoring the pogue’s calls.
“Just give her some space, man.” Pope said as he got in the Twinkie making JJ get back in and slam the door shut. Fallon walked hugging her figure as the cold night breeze went through the trees. She was reflecting on the day, about how Lani was actually nice to her but then her thoughts drifted to seeing her dance with JJ. Suddenly, car headlights shone behind her as the vehicle stopped next to her. The window rolled down to reveal Rafe.
“Hey Fal, what are you doing walking alone?”
“Hi, I just… um.. Just needed to clear my head.”
“Well, get in. Let me drive you home.” He said and leaned over to open the door for her. Fallon was hesitant at first but somehow felt comfort once she went inside the car. Rafe began to drive and kept looking at her and back at the road.
“You look good.” he said, making her smile and slightly blush.
“Stop doing that, Rafey.”
“Doing what?”
“Complimenting me to distract me.”
“I just wanna make you feel better, that’s all.” he stared at the road as Fallon looked at him. She grabbed his hand making him look at her.
“Thank you for that, really.”
“No problem.” The ride to Figure 8 was short and filled with comfortable silence. Once they pulled into the driveway, Rafe lowered the volume of the radio and turned to Fallon who was getting her bag ready.
“Thank you for driving me.” she smiled as he nodded and gave her a small smirk. Suddenly, she leaned in and kissed his cheek, making him blush.
“Goodnight, Rafe.” and with that she got out of the car, waving at him once she opened her front door. The kook stayed there for a bit, still feeling euphoric by the kiss. He smiled widely as he changed his car to R, making his way home.
The next day, Pope wanted to try out the drone, making everyone go to the Chateau. It was like seeing a child open his christmas gift and seeing that it was what they asked for. Excited was an understatement. Kie, Fallon and John B swam around for a bit while JJ, Lani and Pope stayed on the dock to test it out. They wanted to make sure the camera was looking HD, that it’s motor was functioning and that nothing was broken.
“What’s this?” JJ asked as he touched a button from the panel that controls the drone.
“Don’t touch that. I’m trying to work out this thing.” Pope said, slapping the blonde pogue’s away.
“God bless geeks, Pope. Truly, man. What would we do without you to control the drones?” he asked as he leaned against the railing while Lani chuckled in the background, still standing next to Pope.
“It’s not a drone. It’s an ROV.”
“Shut up, shut up. It’s too early for that right now.”
“It’s 12 in the afternoon, JJ.” Lani smiled as she lifted her head and looked at the blonde who shrugged and turned back to the marsh. The conversation turned to mention lawyers once the wreckage was found. Loud thunders would be heard as the pogues climbed out of the marsh.
“In the wrong weather, it’s gonna get pushed around.” Lani stated as she squinted her eyes looking at the sky. A big gray cloud was going over the OBX making the kook feel a bit anxious.
“Then we’ll go at dead calm.” John B suggested wrapping himself in a towel. Right after that, thunder interrupted his thoughts as it filled everyone’s ears.
“Well, today’s not the day.” JJ said, looking at the sky.
The next day had perfect weather which was also perfect to look for the Royal Merchant. Pope asked his dad for his boat and surprisingly, Heyward said yes. Which gave him the responsibility to pick everyone up. JJ took over the wheel and Lani stayed with him in the cabin while everyone else got the equipment ready.
“All right, JJ! Pin it here!” John B shouted as the blonde nodded.
“Roger that! X marks the spot.” he said and stared at Lani who was already staring at him with slightly scared eyes.
“All right, ladies and gentleman. To going full kook.” The shaggy haired pogue smiled as Kie started lowering the drone into the water, immediately giving Pope a clear image of the ocean. It kept going down as John B checked the location of the boat hence the constant screaming.
“JJ, you're right over it. Ten seconds northwest!”
“Got it!” the blonde shouted back as he steered the wheel in a quick speed making Lani be on the verge of falling over him once the boat turned. He chuckled at the kook causing her to roll her eyes.
“Careful there.”
“Yeah, yeah.”
“One hundred feet!” Fallon shouted as she helped Kie lower the rope. Pope gasped in fear as he saw many animals which caused John B to be on edge. Inside the cabin, Lani and JJ were in comfortable silence as she stared at him.
“Are you okay?” she asked, breaking the silence.
“Yeah.”
“Sorry, I asked, I just… you’re wearing a sweatshirt.. It's the middle of June.” Lani looked at JJ with worried eyes as he hesitated for an answer. Not wanting to tell her about his dad.
“Four hundred feet!” Kie shouted, interrupting JJ’s thoughts as he turned to look back at the front of the boat. Thunder was heard all around as they all stared at the sky.
“Guys, the tide’s turning.” Fallon said to John B making him look down at the boat monitor.
“JJ, ten seconds easy, south-southeast.”
“Copy that.” the blonde replied as he turned the wheel again making Lani trip and crash into him. JJ extended his arm and stood her up, pulling her to between him and the wall.
“Stay there, k?” she nodded and chuckled a bit, making him smile.
“JJ, 20 second mid speed, south.”
“Copy that! Aye, aye, cap.” The pogue kept steering and steering the wheel, not receiving any feedback from John B.
“John B! Is That good?” Lani shouted from the cabin as JJ focused on the wheel.
“Yeah, we’re good!” He shouted only his thumb up. The shouts kept coming back and forth as a trom approached the boat. Thunder got louder and winds got stronger making it harder for the female pogues to handle the rope as JJ tried to keep the boat at the right position.
“There’s too much current!” Kie shouted holding onto the rope, afraid that it would leave her grip.
“We’re gonna lose it!” Fallon shouted as she lowered the drone a bit more.
“No, we're not! Steady at this bearing, JJ!” John B shouted as the blonde followed instructions. The shouting went on as the girls yelled how far the drone was.
“You should be seeing something, man.” he told Pope as he looked closely at the screen.
“I know, I know! Wait.. oh God.” A silence filled the boat as the boys stared at the screen closely.
“What the hell is going on?” Lani asked under her breath looking at the boys. JJ turned his head and got confused as he quickly turned back to look at the storm.
“Do you see anything?” he asked, suddenly hearing the boys laugh in cheer.
“It’s the Royal Merchant!” John B shouted in victory as he saw the wreckage on the screen feeling as if his father was standing right there with him.

Bullet Wounds | JJ Maybank X Reader
Summary: The scene in season 1 when the two guys chase the pogues on the boat through the marsh. Only when they shoot, they hit you.
Warning: Blood mentions and cursing.
“Should we wait for them?” Pope asked as everyone was starting to get nervous. “No, Pope. Of course not.” You grumbled as JJ was pulling up your guys’ anchor. John B started getting the boat moving as JJ shouted at him to not wait on him. You and Kie looked at each other nervously. As you guys started to speed off, they continued to follow. Kie spoke up, “uh guys, they’re following us!” Pope was the first to react as a gun went off. He yelped at the sound and everyone ducked as low as possible.
“They’re shooting at us!” “No shit!” JJ grabbed you as he continued to stay as low as possible. “Man, John B you need to get moving!” JJ shouted. John B ducked as the gun went off again, “I’m moving! This is as fast she goes!” You glared as the gun continued to go off. You got out of JJ’s grip and made your way to your guys’ fishing nets. “Y/N, get down!” You were determined though. You were throwing the net out at the other boat with the two men in it when the gun went off a last time before their boat jerked back. They started yelling and everyone started whooping as they fell behind. The Pogues were hollering and laughing. Still scared at the situation that had just taken place. Everyone was standing again, when you turned around though their horrified faces met yours.
“Baby.” That’s all that JJ could muster out before his mouth went even more dry. You looked down to see the red stain dripping down your pink crop top that covered your white swim top. You placed your hand over the red wound only to see the blood cake your hand like a blanket. You started to see black after that and suddenly you felt to heavy for your legs. JJ shouted your name as he held you. “J-.” You couldn’t finish a word as your body went limp. Your eyes fluttering. Pope was pushing JJ back as he tried to put pressure on the wound with his hand.
“I need a shirt!” JJ didn’t think twice as he ripped his shirt off and handed it to Pope who placed it on the wound that was on your left side. Kie was yelling at John B to go to the house as fast as possible so they could get you to the hospital. You suddenly felt the pain and began to cry out as you felt Popes pressure on your bullet wound. JJ started yelling at Pope, “you’re hurting her, man! Stop!” Pope only shouted back, “I have to stop the blood or she won’t even make it to shore, JJ! Back off!” JJ gulped at those words and went straight to your face. His hand stroked back your H/C hair. He was talking to you as calmly as possible. You whined as your vision continued to turn black. “Y/N! No, please! I can’t lose you. I can’t lose you. Open your damn eyes! You’re all I’ve got! Y/N!” That was all you heard before everything was silent and black.
You woke up in a hospital bed. Kie at your side and her parents on the other. You were adopted by the couple. Making Kie your stepsister technically. You smiled slightly. Your adoptive parents however weren’t the happiest. “Oh Y/N, we were worried sick. Of course those boys got you into this kind of trouble. You and Kiara can not keep doing this to yourselves. You could have died.” You adoptive mother spat. You groaned as Kie glared at her mom and dad. “They saved her life.” Your guys’ father huffed, “they also put it in danger.” Kie stood, “they did not. Those guys were shooting at us just because we were fishing!” Your parents sighed but agreed silently. The teenagers had done nothing to provoke the two men. “Well, your friends are in the waiting room. We’ll send them in.” The two left and three teenage boys took their place. JJ was the first one to your side.
“I thought I lost you.” JJ kissed your forehead as he took his hat off. You smiled but grimaced as you had moved wrong causing your wound to ache. “I’m okay, J. Thank you. All of you.” They all smiled. “We’re just very glad you’re okay. You’ll have a pretty cool scar.” John B laughed. You laughed lightly, trying not to hurt yourself or tear any stitches. “I’ll kill them. I’m going to find them and kill them both.” JJ promised. “Stop, JJ. I’m fine. We’re fine.” He frowned down at you, “you could’ve died. You did die.” You scrunched your face in confusion, “what?” Pope looked down, “you flatlined for thirty seconds.” You looked at everyone’s faces and they were all disturbed. And saddened. JJ let a few tears fog his vision. “I’m okay. We’re all okay.” JJ leaned down and hugged your smaller form. The other three teens also leaned in to you. JJ kisses your lips and whispered, “I’m always going to be here. We all are.” You were the pogues. No one could change that.

A Fast Pass To Love
Pairing: Jemily
Summary: Emily had never been to a theme park, much less Disney Land before. JJ decides to the change that with a week long extravaganza, but some fun things happen on day 1...
WC: 4.7k words
For Mom, Mama, and the rest of the kids of the wack house. (i love all yall) @dykejareau @prentitss @dragisthegame @bridget19 @jay-writes-jemily @ssa-urnansironingboard
--------------------
“Emily, the first rule of theme parks is to wear comfortable shoes and no short shorts. You’re going to get a sunburn.” JJ sat on the bed, watching her towel-laden girlfriend look through her suitcase.
“But these ones make me look cute. Fine, I guess I’ll just have to wear these ripped jeans and my green flannel with the graphic tee. Are you all ready?” Emily finished rifling through her things and slipped into the bathroom.
“Yeah, I’m all dressed. I just need to put on my mascara, hat, and shoes. We still have like 20 minutes before we leave, so just go according to that.” JJ tugged at her watch and moved to the edge of the bed, leaning towards the wall mirror to apply her mascara.
Emily spends little time in the bathroom, zipping through her routine and deftly putting on her clothes. She washed her face and put on moisturizer before throwing open the door and reentering the quaint bedroom. Their room had a view of the buzzing city below but was drab with bland walls and sparse artwork. A king bed decorated the middle of the room positioned directly opposite the magnanimous flat screen. The room may have been drab, but its accessories all but made up for it.
“Your mascara face is cute,” Emily announced, watching her girlfriend carefully apply the product, her lips just barely parted.
“Oh, really?” JJ finished her left side and paused, turning to look back at the brunette. She grinned at the devilish smile on her girlfriend’s face and faced the mirror once more.
“Yeah, I think you should do it more often.” JJ looked at Emily through the mirror and playfully rolled her eyes. She then felt the bed sink under Emily’s weight as the brunette climbed on from the other side.
Emily inched forward, careful to not disrupt JJ’s mascara. She knew from experience that it was not a good choice. Coming up behind the blonde, Emily snaked her hands around JJ’s waist. She set her head gingerly on JJ’s shoulder, beaming at their reflection. This trip was a first for her and she couldn’t think of anyone better to do it with. After another minute, JJ brought the tube down, carefully sealing it and setting it off to the side. She leaned back against Emily and placed her own hands on top of hers. “Babe, come on. I’m done. Are you all set with the backpacks and stuff?” She spoke quietly, relaxing into Emily’s embrace. No matter the time, she always found sanctuary in the brunette’s arms.
“But how about, we just sit here? I don’t want to move.” Emily fake pouted.
“Sure, if you want to miss the water rides and all of the food shops,” JJ answered calmly, knowing that Emily simply needed a little incentive to get moving.
“Oh, never mind. Let’s go. I think everything is packed. Here, I have the list so we can go over it.” Emily fished around in her pocket for a quick second before pulling out a neatly folded piece of lined paper.
JJ chuckled and moved to grab the dark backpack from the edge of the bed. Grabbing its zippers, she opened it quickly and waited expectantly for Emily. The brunette muttered the first part of the list as she quietly checked with herself for the things that she was responsible for.
“Okay, I have all of the snacks and the water. Do you have the medkit, the socks, the fresh shirt and pants for us both, and sunscreen?” She repeated each item slowly, double-checking with the blonde. The method was tried and true, and once they’d gotten through it all, they were out the door.
————————————————————
“Never? You’ve got to be kidding. There’s no way. It’s not possible.” JJ sat on the carpet on top of her folded legs. She had an incredulous look, not understanding how what Emily was saying could be true.
“Nope. I’m serious, never. Mother just was never the kind for theme parks. Plus, she always had a stick up her ass so because she didn’t want to go, I couldn’t either. She would just find extra lessons to stick me in.” Emily sipped her dry, red wine.
“It was odd never knowing what got kids so excited at theme parks. I mean, what’s so cool about waiting in line for hours on end just to be thrown around in a metal car?”
“Oh. My. God. I cannot believe you! That’s it. You, Emily Prentiss, are coming with me on a trip to Disney World. We are doing a full week-long trip so that you can see the magic that so many kids that go there, love. I used to go there on school trips and once with my grandparents. It’ll be perfect.” JJ turned back to her wine, missing the love that was so apparent in Emily’s expression.
“Perfect, just like you?” Emily couldn’t stop herself from the sappy comment. She was tipsy and over the moon in love with JJ.
“Yes, you sap. You really are a hopeless romantic. Pen was right.”
“Of course she was. Pen is the “All-Knowing Goddess” and she never fails to live up to it.”
“You know that I like you very much, right?”
“Always, I’m irresistible.”
“Oh my god, no, you’re insufferable.”
“You love that about me.”
“Got me there.”
————————————————————
The bus ride was turbulent but neither minded. Emily was jittery with excitement and JJ was calmly seated. The brunette had the map to the area that they were visiting in her hands. To her, it looked like someone had drawn spaghetti and put random locations for things on it. But, despite her struggle, Emily refused to ask for help. It was a pride thing. That, and she had told JJ she could do it. She couldn’t go back on her word now. Watching Emily’s internal struggle was amusing for JJ, knowing that the woman would never be able to figure out the map.
“Ah, Magic Kingdom. This is our stop, Jen,” Emily stated boldly with hopes that JJ couldn’t tell that she had no idea where to go next.
“Alrighty, Map Master, where to next?” JJ raised her eyebrows at Emily as they stepped off the shuttle. This is going to be interesting.
“Uh, we can take a left here and go to the Hulk part. Wait, no, that would be a right. Hold on, I know what I’m doing.” Emily’s eyebrows furrowed as she tried to make sense of the winding paths on the page in front of her.
“Sure you do. Take all the time you need.” JJ stood by her, arms folded in amusement.
“Okay, follow me.” Emily faked her confidence, starting off in the left direction. She silently prayed that wherever they ended up was somewhat decent.
After nearly an hour, neither the Hulk ride nor the other options that she had suggested were visible. They had wandered up to the Adventureland area, currently standing in front of what looked like the show’s bar. They had managed to stop by a couple of the drinks stands and buy things there, but the rides that Emily had wanted were nowhere to be found.
“Do you want my help?” JJ finally chipped in, ready to let Emily stop stressing over the godforsaken map.
“No!” Emily answered immediately, but instantly remembered that she was getting them nowhere. She followed up with another answer, this time more quiet. “Yeah. But only because this stupid map is super confusing and whoever designed it needs to take a map drawing class.”
JJ chuckled and took the reins. From there, they walked for a few short minutes before arriving at the ride that Emily had been searching for. She had just missed the pathway and taken a wrong turn. The blonde beamed over at her girlfriend, who playfully rolled her eyes.
Weaving through the crowds of people seemed much easier with JJ in the lead. They made their way through several rides, including Splash Mountain. The subsequent gift stores that they visited were very attractive as well. Emily and JJ were not immune to their charms, buying a Stitch plushie that both felt was perfect. Its soft, fuzzy texture and inviting look made it exactly what they wanted. Emily even had the thought that they could pass it down to their kids. It would be a memento for the day, one that she knew she would never forget.
————————————————————
JJ and Emily came up to a small area in front of the castle. Emily’s stomach had growled about three times in the past 30 minutes and they still hadn’t gotten any food. She hadn’t eaten more snacks because JJ had asked her to wait for the Dole Whip that she wanted to try. JJ, on the other hand, was tired. She hadn’t done the whole theme park shebang in years, forgetting the physical toll it took.
She let out a deep sigh, pausing to lean against the partition. A few steps in front of them, two Disney princesses were having a lively conversation. Cinderella, who was a bit taller than Belle, was blushing at whatever the other princess had just told her. Their giggles barely reached Emily and JJ’s ears. Emily smiled at the lighthearted demeanor of the women. They weren’t currently in character, but their costumes and attitude alone were enough to make the Disney World experience magical for children.
Cinderella looked over Belle’s shoulder and caught Emily’s eye. The woman beamed and waved. The gleeful energy radiated off of her. Belle turned around upon seeing what Cinderella was doing. She also waved at the couple, getting a nonchalant wave from JJ and Emily.
JJ pulled out her phone, looking up if the restaurant she had wanted to go to for dinner was still open. The sun’s rays beat down on the couple but JJ and Emily had learned to weather it after years of travel. As she was scrolling to find the link to their website, Emily and JJ heard a squeal in their vicinity. Both of their heads jerked upwards, searching for the source of the outburst.
Their eyes landed on a child that looked roughly 7 years old, dressed in a Belle costume that was similar to the princess that was standing next to them. Poofy fabric and dazzling sequins made the little kid’s gown look extravagant. The petticoat twinkled and flew back against the air as the young princess made their way up to the adult Belle. JJ and Emily didn’t realize what had happened until the princess tugged on the older Belle’s dress, head tilted back to showcase eyes full of wonder.
“You look just like me! I’m princess Belle.” Their voice was high-pitched, sounding almost like an animation in real life. “Mama, look! It’s princess Belle! We look the same!”
The child turned back to talk to a group of people. Emily and JJ’s eyes followed the young princess’ and saw a small group of people. Two women stood close together, the taller one’s arm placed on the other shoulder. On their right, a child had one of the women’s hands in her grasp. She looked between both Belle’s, excitement apparent in her expression, their mouth forming a little “O”. They were dressed as Rapunzel, the light and shimmery purple of the dress popping against their darker, red hair. Accent spots of gold were scattered around the costume, shining amidst the entire ensemble.
The women were not in costume, but their outfits were nonetheless stylish. The taller woman had on a light beige shirt, its sweater-like fabric tucked into light-wash blue jeans that were ripped at the knees. The ensemble was completed with a dark leather jacket that was sleek, not having many embellishments. Beside her, the woman that was holding Rapunzel’s hand was in a sundress. Its material was light and flowy. Patterned lavender flower bouquets were spread across the dress. It had a deep neckline, offset by the floppy sun hat on her head.
Seeing those women and children made JJ’s heart soar. They were exactly what she had pictured in her head of Emily and herself, far off in the future. Getting a glimpse of what that life held for them was overwhelming. In one sweeping motion, the blonde turned Emily’s head to the side and kissed her. Her other hand laid on the brunette’s waist, pulling her closer so that she might never have to let go. When they eventually pulled apart, Emily looked at her with amazement. She didn’t know what had given JJ the sudden need to kiss her, but she wasn’t mad about it.
“Any reason for that kiss, milady?” Emily added the joking lilt to her voice, hoping to understand what had overcome her girlfriend.
“Just, that you’re perfect. Also, those kids, they remind me of what I want our life to be like. Not now, but later in the future. It’s just everything I imagined, and I can’t wait for us to be there.” JJ’s eyes were wide and doe-like, melting Emily’s heart on the spot. She brought her hand up to rest on JJ’s cheek, her thumb brushing against it lightly.
“OH MY GOD. YOU CAN LIKE PRINCESSES TOO?” The women all but jolted up when the shrill voice broke through their bubble.
They turned to the origin of the sound, eyes once again falling on the miniature Belle. Their finger was pointed at the couple. A dazzling smile sat on their face, the jubilation barely containable. Emily recovered from the shock and realized what was going on first. She knelt down, making eye contact with the child.
“Of course you can. You like princesses, princes, kings, queens; whatever you want. Look, you see her?” Emily pointed back at JJ, waiting for the little princess to nod. “I really like her, and she happens to be my queen.” She watched the child’s eyebrows raise, laughing softly at their mirth.
“Wait, can I tell you a secret?” She leaned in as did the kid, their ear tilted towards Emily.
“Well, actually the thing is, I love her and I’m gonna tell her tonight. What do you think? Is it a good idea?” Emily smiled while the thought of telling JJ she loved her filled her with warmth.
The young princess stood back up, switching glances between JJ and Emily. They noticed the way that JJ looked at Emily. Even if the brunette couldn’t see her girlfriend, JJ looked at her like she held the world in her hands. Luca, the child, started jumping up and down.
“Yes! Yes! Do it! Do it!” Enthused, Luca turned to the grownup Belle. They switched glances from Cinderella to Belle, deciding whether or not to ask the question on their mind. “Is she your princess too?”
Luca pointed to Cinderella, asking Belle. The woman in the leather jacket took a couple of steps forward, reducing the distance between herself and Luca. She placed her hand on the kid’s shoulder and looked over at the women gratefully. Emily giggled and so did JJ. Belle, shifting her eyes from Cinderella to Luca and her mother, snapped back into character to answer the question.
“Why yes, she is. We have our own castles too, so whenever we can go to see the Fairy Godmother and the Beast whenever we want! You have to admit, she’s pretty cute too.” The princess snuck a glance back at their girlfriend, excitedly spinning the tail of their “fairytale romance”.
Luca gasped, their expressions amusing everyone around them once more. However, this time they turned all the way around to face the other woman and little kid. Stopping to think for a second, Luca rested their head in their hand. Coming to the conclusion that they wanted, Luca beamed and pointed at the little Rapunzel. Everyone’s eyes followed their finger.
“B! B! B! You’re Rapunzel and I’m Belle! You’re a princess and I love you!” The child that had hung back’s face lit up with the statement.
“Oh my god! We are! I love you too!” The young princess was practically shouting across the short distance between them and Luca.
The words sounded funky because of the slight Irish twang that pervaded her accent but melted everyone’s hearts regardless. Wasting no more time, B broke out into a sprint towards Luca who did the same. They collided mere seconds later, wrapped in the tight hug. Around them, “Mama” returned back to the other woman. Both children stood wrapped in each other’s arms, delighted at the realization that they had come to. It was the innocence and naivety that made that moment so much more beautiful.
After nearly a minute, B and Luca let go and looked back at the two women that they had come with. Emily and JJ noticed their stance, for example, how the woman in the sundress so slightly leaned into the other’s hold. They watched the way that “Mama” looked at her, noticing the softness that couldn’t be categorized as anything but love in her eyes. They caught on to the way that the couple’s hands linked, their fingers entwined behind their backs, almost as if to hide it.
During those moments, JJ and Emily didn’t notice the two children walking up to them. The couple only broke their gaze when Emily felt a light tug on her flannel. Looking down, she saw B and Luca standing with their hands joined together. Wondering what else the children had to say, she playfully raised her eyebrows to nonverbally ask them to talk.
“My name is Luca, and this is B, my princess. They’re really pretty and I love them a lot. I think you’re really cool and that you should hang out with us sometime. Bring her too.” Luca spoke and pointed at JJ as they finished their sentence.
The two adults joined the children, smiling.
“I guess since Luca and B have already made their introductions, we should as well. I’m Lauren and this is my friend Hannah. Luca is my kid and B is theirs.” The woman in the leather jacket looked down at Luca and B, and then over to Hannah.
“I’m Emily and this is my girlfriend, JJ. It was nice to meet you. You as well, B and Luca. Maybe, we can hang out the next time we meet. Enjoy your trip princesses.”
With that the 6 people parted, leaving Belle and Cinderella back at their post. Emily and JJ made their way to get Dole Whip. They made a few pit stops along the way, picking up souvenirs that were just tacky enough. It started when Emily caught JJ trying on a pair of rainbow Mickey Mouse Ears. She admired her girlfriend from afar, watching her admire the way the headband sat on top of her blonde hair. Emily walked up behind JJ and wrapped her arms around her waist.
“I am so buying you that. You look so cute.”
“Only if you get one too. We have to be matching or Pen won’t let you hear the end of it.”
“I guess you’re right. I would look good in that. You think she’d let it slide if we got her something too?”
“She might, but I wouldn’t,” JJ smirked at their reflections.
“Okay, okay. How about I get us some shot glasses and these and we call it even”
“Deal.” Emily picked up the shot glasses, with decorations and prices that reminded them that they were having the time of their life in Disney World.
Now, with their Stitch plushie, shot glasses, and rainbow headbands, JJ and Emily looked like proper tourists. Emily usually preferred to blend in with the locals and stay low. The more untraceable, the better for her. But somehow, standing JJ in their themed gear and countless souvenirs, the memories seemed worth it. She had her arm pulled tightly around JJ’s waist, feeling the blonde’s body heat against her own.
The sun had begun to set. It left the sky painted with several different shades and tints of pink and orange; the blue having faded away in the last hour. Each color created a mosaic-like glow down on the people as they prepared for the fireworks. JJ had raved about the fireworks show since that first night that Emily had confessed of her inexperience. The brunette was still slightly hesitant but decided that if JJ loved it, then it was good for her too. She pressed a soft kiss into JJ’s hairline as they weaved through the crowds of people to find a good spot for the show.
The last of the sunset passed rather quickly, leaving the crowds under the luminescence of the park’s decor. The rides that they had wanted to go on were already over, so this was the last thing on the first day’s itinerary. Emily was just about to ask JJ when they should expect the show to start when an employee in a decorated, Disney jacket approached the crowd with a megaphone. They spoke loudly and clearly, reciting memorized instructions on the show that was to begin in 2 minutes and the manners that the crowd had to use for it.
Promptly as announced, the fireworks began in 2 minutes. The display was gorgeous. Each little buildup created a unique pattern of firework in the sky. Emily found her attention captured, the magnificence making her heart glow. Everything around her was too much. She felt overwhelmed with love and remembered the secret that she had told Luca. It was now or never.
“Hey, Jen?” She felt the blonde’s weight shift from where she was, tightly tucked into Emily’s body.
“Yeah?” Emily’s neck tickled with the puff of air from JJ’s words.
“Today was perfect. Every day, actually, is perfect with you. I don’t know how you do it, but you make the world seem magical. Everywhere I look, I see something beautiful, and with our jobs, I didn’t even think that was possible. Being with you, made me realize that the world is good and can be good. It made me want to be good, better actually, just for you. So I guess, what I’m trying to say is that I love you. I love you and everything about you. You opened my eyes, Jen. I don’t think I’ll ever have the words to thank you enough for it.”
JJ held back tears at Emily’s words. The pure emotion that she heard in the woman’s voice was enough alone to make her sob. Her heart felt like it was glowing. Emily had that effect on her since they had met. Being here, standing by her side felt surreal. They were at Disney World, arguably the “most magical place on Earth”, but JJ thought differently. To her, anywhere by Emily instantly became enchanting. She didn’t waste a second in replying.
“I love you too, Emily. You were one of the best things that ever happened to me. I could shout it from the rooftops, but fireworks at Disney World work too.” JJ smirked and hugged Emily tighter. “I had dinner reservations at a restaurant that I came to as a kid for after this. Are you up for it? I just think that it would be a nice way to end today.”
“Of course. I was going to suggest take out for dinner, but that sounds so much better. We can head out as soon as the show is over.” Emily answered her and then turned her head to look up at the illustrious show once more.
They stayed for the show, even clapping when the fireworks subsided and denoted the end of the program. JJ and Emily sauntered through the flow of people, looking for an exit. On the way there, Emily stopped them in front of the magnanimous tree. Its decorations shined strongly against the dark, night sky, twinkling almost as brightly as the stars. Placing JJ strategically against the fence, she snapped a few photos. Jumping when she felt a light tap against her shoulder, Emily turned to see Hannah’s wide smile. They gestured for her phone, asking if Emily wanted a picture of the couple.
“Why don’t you hop in there next to her? I can take the picture of the two of you.” Emily obliged them, taking quick strides to join her girlfriend’s side. Their smiles were radiant.
Only two pictures had been taken before purple and yellow things ran out from behind Hannah. The couple didn’t realize what was happening until JJ nearly doubled over with the force that collided into her side. She looked down to see B, and the kid was clinging to her shirt. JJ didn’t have time to respond before the same thing happened to Emily. Luca had made their way to surround the brunette. Both kids had a mischievous smile on their faces, adoration in their eyes.
“Oh, I am so sorry. Kids, come back here. Let these two lovely ladies have their pictures.” Lauren’s voice rang out from behind her friend.
“No, it’s okay, let them stay. After all, we have to take pictures with the princesses in Disney World. Come in close for the picture guys!” JJ laughed and responded, earning delighted agreement from B, Luca, and Emily.
“You two are too kind.” Hannah shook their head and readjusted the phone’s camera angle.
The family took their leave of JJ and Emily, leaving the happy couple smiling as they made their way out of the theme park. The journey to their car was long, but it felt like two minutes to the women as they talked about their adventures of the day. It was a sweet resolution to a long day of fun. Arriving at Rigatello’s right on time, JJ and Emily were seated with haste.
JJ was buzzing with the high of their confession, grasping Emily’s hand tightly. Her mind was zipping with memories that they had made today. She had come to this theme park as a kid, and Emily had rejuvenated that childhood passion that she had for places like it. It reminded her of the fun that she used to have with Roslyn. All that confirmed was that Emily was perfect for her, through and through. Emily couldn’t keep her eyes off of JJ. The baby blues were reminders of how JJ was changing her view on the world, one step at a time. The blonde was the key to her future, and maybe one day they could have kids just like B and Luca. The thought of their own children was exhilarating to Emily, knowing that she had almost given up the hope of motherhood before JJ. Those kids were goofs, but so cute. We are definitely making yearly trips to Disney with our own, and maybe I’ll be able to convince JJ to dress up with them.
The couple was making light conversation when a short, stockier waiter approached their table. Their face was lit up and animated, the enthusiasm apparent in the waiter’s words. Taking a good look at JJ and Emily, Pablo, as the waiter had introduced herself, immediately began listing off items that they believed the pair would like. The interaction was short and lively, Pablo off soon to get their waters. Not a few minutes had passed before they returned once more, however they had some extra beyond what JJ had ordered.
“Don’t worry, it’s on the house. You two deserve it. Y’all are a beautiful couple. Thank you for coming to Rigatello’s. Now, do you know what you want to order?”
“I’ll have the beef cannelloni and she’ll have the chicken scampi? Yeah, one chicken scampi for her.” Emily gave out their orders and soon they were left alone again.
The food was decadent and the wine, which they learned was a house specialty later, was rich and smooth. JJ and Emily talked about kids, what Emily loved about the day, and the future. That day had been their first day of seven, and Emily had already fallen in love with Disney World. They left great compliments with the waiter and went on to their hotel. The women dragged themselves into bed after changing into their pajamas. Both were asleep within seconds of their heads hitting the pillow, arms wrapped tightly around each other.

Terrible plans paved with good intentions (Mal x Reader)
Request: R and mal are secretly dating so one of the other youngins hits on R all the time and we get to see a jealous mal?
Authors note: This one was like uber fun to write, so i really hope you enjoy it. Also, Reader is used to lots of physical contact and affection from the youngins. Anyway, Enjoy! hit me up with requests, questions or if you just wanna say hi!
The youngins were concerned. Very concerned. You and Mal were acting strangely. The two of you were always together, and the young forward seemed to be the only person in the team with the ability to get you to crack a smile. It was obvious from the way that the two of you interacted that you liked each other. The problem was that both of you seemed to be too chicken to do anything about it.
Hell, Emily had even asked you point blank if you were dating Mal, to which you had snorted and walked away. They just wanted you guys to be happy, and the one thing that would make you and Mal the happiest would be if you were dating. So it seemed that the only option was for them to meddle to get the two of you together.
“Y/n and Mal are either blind or oblivious”
“Or both,” Emily snorted, as she watched you chase Mal around the field, trying to steal back the ball you had been messing around with.
“She lets her borrow her snapbacks and everything,” Lindsey smirked as you tackled Mal to the ground, and she grabbed your signature hat off your head. You just smiled down at the girl, placing a kiss on her forehead before standing and going back to juggling the soccer ball.
“Are you three thinking what I’m thinking?” Emily smiled at Lindsey, Sam, and Rose wiggling her eyebrows. This was the perfect opportunity to meddle. The perfect opportunity to both prank the two of you and get you to finally admit your feelings.
“Whatever you’re thinking, I want nothing to do with it. Last time we messed with Y/n she almost ripped our heads off,” Sam said raising her hands. She wanted nothing to do with whatever scheme Emily’s diabolical mind thought up, she still had mental scars from how scary you were when you were angry. How you had taken every opportunity you could to make practice the next day horrible for all of them.
“That’s because we ruined her favorite shirt,” Lindsey rolled her eyes. This wouldn’t end up like that, as you would be extremely happy about your newfound relationship.
“So now you just wanna ruin her friendship with Mal,” Rose laughed, quirking an eye up at team blond. She was pretty sure you would rather have Mal as a friend than nothing at all, and she knew Mal felt the same. You were both terrified of losing your friend, and getting over that wasn’t something that could (or should) be rushed.
“No, we wanna make them more than friends,” Emily wined, waving her arms wildly. You both felt the same so why should you have to wait?
“I’m out,” Sam said firmly, seconded by Rose’s “Me too!”. They would rather watch you dance around your feelings than suffer the wrath of a pissed off you and Mal.
“Losers,” Lindsey called after them as they jogged away. She and Em didn’t need their help anyway. So, the plan to get the star forwards together began. What they didn’t know was that you and Mal were much more than friends...
****
You panted on the field, walking as a cool down from the intense scrimmage you had just participated in. You had been against Emily, Kelley, and Becky, and it was a fucking nightmare. And with JJ in their midfield, you had spent a lot of time trying to out-maneuver the women.
In ninth-two degree heat, trying to score had taken a lot out of you. It also had sweat dripping down your forehead, which you were dabbing with the bottom of your tank top.
“Hey hot stuff, you look like a fucking rockstar today,” Emily jogged up beside you, winking and swatting at your exposed abs. You instantly dropped your tank top.
“Thanks, Em, you looked pretty good too,” You laughed at the defender, patting her head, before returning your gaze to the forward that had stolen your heart.
You made to jog off but were stopped by Emily’s hand in your arm, subtly squeezing your bicep.
“It’s kinda warm out here isn’t it?” She asked, fluttering her eyelashes at you.
You glanced down at were her fingers were testing your muscles, a light sheen of red covering your cheeks from being blatantly hit on. Your mind raced for a way to let her down easy, and hopefully not ruin your friendship or the team dynamic.
“Um, I guess,” You started, your tongue feeling like lead in your mouth. You carefully pulled your arm away to rub the back of your neck, sending help me eyes to your girlfriend from across the field.
When you turned back around, Emily had managed to pull her tank top clean off and wrap it like a towel around her neck. Your eyes widened and your mouth went dry and you purposefully stared at her in the eyes. “whoa, why are you taking your shirt off,” you covered your face with your hands, much like a two-year-old playing hide and seek.
“Cause I’m hot, don’t you agree?” Emily smirked at you, nearly giggling at how adorable you were (and not missing the glare that Mal was sending her way). It was also kinda cute how you refused to look anywhere but towards Mal, the ground, or her eyes.
“That-, um-, I-, uh,” you stuttered, turning completely away from the woman. Yes, you were in love with Mal, but you also had eyes, and the women on the national team were very attractive. You felt like you were in high school talking to a pretty cheerleader and not one of your best friends.
“Relax Y/n,” She murmured, her eyebrows furrowing at how flustered you were. She didn’t think that something this simple would turn you into a stuttering, blushing mess. You had a reputation as a flirt, so she was surprised by your reaction.
“I’m gonna go,” you muttered softly, nearly sprinting towards where Lindsey was standing with Mal, wrapping the smaller girl up in your arms.
It was interesting the way that Mal’s fingers ran through your hair, and you just melted into her. How the fuck could you not realize that you were in love with her.
****
After your very strange encounter with Emily on the pitch, you had hoped that the weight session would be uneventful. You had gotten to cuddle with Mal on the bus ride and you were supposed to be paired with her for the workout. What you didn’t know was that it’s was Lindsey’s turn to try out Emily’s plan.
Sure, Mal had glared at them, and you two had been a little too touchy-feely in the ride over, but you still hadn’t confessed your feelings for one another. At least that’s what team blond thought.
So here you were, standing in front of the squat rack, sending confused eyes to Mal in the mirror, your tongue lolling out the side to get her to giggle. You were so busy making faces at Mal that you didn’t notice Lindsey approach you.
“Hey sexy, need a spot?” She whispered into your ear, her lips caressing the shell as she wrapped her arms around your waist.
You jumped at the feeling, an unpleasant shiver running down your back. “Shit,”
“Whoa there,” She murmured, kissing your cheek as she steadied the two of you. Your cheeks flushed when you realized just how close to you she was, and you immediately pulled away.
“Umm, I, thought you were paired with Emily,” You mumbled, scratching the back of your neck.
“I switched with Mal,” Lindsey smirked at you, not missing how you looked longingly over her shoulder at the said woman.
“So, need a spot?” Lindsey asked, gesturing towards the squat rack.
“Yeah, I guess,” You sighed, wincing slightly at Mal’s glare. You were in trouble with her and you knew it. But it really wasn’t your fault that people were hitting on you, you weren’t the one who didn’t wanna tell all your friends you were dating.
You grabbed the bar, positioning it on your shoulders, and Lindsey stepped into position behind you. Except instead of the normal spot, she wrapped her hands around your waist, her fingers playing with the hem at the front of your workout shirt.
“Hey Lindsey, you don’t have to grab my waist, I got it,” You stuttered our, your pink cheeks turning an even deeper shade of red.
“I know, but I like being close to you,” She hummed into your ear, placing a kiss on the back of your neck. You thanked God that she was standing there because you dropped the bar at the action. You scrubbed your hands over your eyes, barely able to get the “I-, um-, I-I think I’m done,” out of your mouth before you escaped.
Across the gym, Mal watched the interaction with disdain. Her grip on the dumbbell tightening incremental with every move Lindsey made. How could you stand there and blush while Lindsey was making a move on you?
Mal knew that you held no romantic feelings for Lindsey or Emily, but it didn’t make her feel any less jealous when they were practically throwing themselves at you.
“If you grip that bar any harder Mal Pal, you’re going to pull a muscle,” Emily snickered, shivering slightly at Mal’s deadly glare.
“Shut up Sonnett,” She snapped.
“Whoa there, careful or someone might think you’re jealous,” The blond smirked, eyeing the way Mal was sharing glances with your very wide eyes in the mirror. She never knew that you were so easy to fluster.
“Whatever,” Mal scoffed, dropping the weight and heading towards the locker room, and Sonnett wasn’t even surprised when you followed mere seconds after.
*****
Emily and Lindsey waited exactly 10 minutes before heading to the locker room, hoping that maybe you had pulled your head out of your ass and asked out Mal.
They carefully crept into the locker room, but instead of being met with the preferable sight of You mad Mal cuddled up together, they were met with you sitting on the bench with your head in your hands and Mal pacing like there was no tomorrow. If the scowl on her face meant anything, you two weren’t having a good conversation.
“That’s not my fault Mal,” You said far too calmly, scrubbing your eyes with your hands in frustration.
“Well you sure as hell didn’t try and stop them,” Mal growled back, running her hands through her hair and pulling angrily at the strands. Who gave Lindsey and Emily the right to hit on you? To touch you?
“Yeah, because my repeated attempts to get your attention weren’t a sign that I needed help,” You nearly yelled one exasperation, standing and blocking her path, hands placed firmly in your hips.
“Well maybe if you weren’t such a gay mess around our teammates everything would have been fine. You practically let them grope you,” She grumbled, waving her hands in dramatically. Yes, your red cheeks and stuttering were adorable, but only when it was happening with her. Sonnett and Lindsey shouldn’t get to experience that.
You sighed. It wasn’t like you could tell the women to hit the road without telling them that you were dating. And you didn’t want to be rude to them, they were your friends.
“What do you exp-..” You started softly, only to be cut off by her soft lips claiming your own. You melted into her, letting her tongue explore your mouth with ease.
She pulled away suddenly, keeping her forehead on your own. “You’re mine Y/n Y/m/n Y/l/n got it,”
“Mm yes ma’am,” You mumbled, connecting your lips again. They were like your drug, you just couldn’t get enough.
“When the fuck did this happen?” Lindsey exclaimed, and you and Mal jumped apart, a bright red blush coloring your cheeks.
“Like 6 months ago,” Mal stated fondly, grabbing your hand and pulling you back into her embrace. You immediately relaxed against her.
“Holy shit,” Lindsey said breathlessly, staring at you with wide eyes.
“See, my plan worked,” Emily smirked, nudging her bond counterpart with her shoulder. Lindsey rolled her eyes at the woman. You had clearly not appreciated their advances on you.
“No your plan made them fight, they were already together,” Lindsey snarked back, glaring at the other woman, and sending you a sorry smile.
“So that’s why you guys were turning my baby into a gay mess?” Mal asked, crossing her arms and staring at Lindsey and Emily expectantly, while you shrunk behind her. You loved Mal and no one hitting on you was gonna change that, plus she was hot when she was agitated (as long as it wasn’t with you).

feel something pt 1 - jj
On the outside, you’re a kook princess with a seemingly perfect life and a perfect family. The expectations are suffocating you, to the point where the only thing you feel is numb. You’re chasing different coping mechanisms in order to feel something. Until a chance encounter with a certain blond pogue you know you’re supposed to hate gives rise to a different kind of feeling.
Warnings: angst, toxic behaviour, poor coping mechanisms, drug usage, mentions of sex, mentions of suicidal ideations (brief), Rafe being a grade a asshole, shitty parents

A/N: I accidentally deleted this, ugh sorry if you see this again!! I started off wanting to write a supremely angsty one shot, turned into a supremely angsty multi-chapter fic. This is a slow burn, babyy. Here’s the set up, let me know what you think! :)
series masterlist
You stand teetering on the edge of the balcony railing, barefoot and facing the waves as they crash onto the beach. You’re not thinking about jumping. At least you’re pretty sure you won’t actually jump. Really you’re just looking for even a flicker of an emotion to stir up in your chest. Lately you haven’t felt anything more than mild annoyance at your parent’s constant bickering and pestering. You know you’re too young, but all you feel anymore is numb. You lift your left leg, balancing precariously on the right for a minute before lowering it and returning to the balcony and slipping your heels back on.
You don’t want to die, you just don’t want to live like this. Kook princess, paraded and practically pimped around by your parents, looking for you to find an advantageous marriage, have 2.5 kids and further accumulate your hoarded wealth. “Why don’t you date the Cameron boy? He’s quite good looking and your father would love it if you married his business partner’s son” and “The Thornton boy would be a good match, the family mansion is the largest” and “Jacob Kane’s father is a name partner at a successful law firm on the mainland”. Your mother’s incessant nagging about finding the perfect husband only further cements your lack of value as a human being, your usefulness tapped out at your ability to be someone’s wife.
You don’t understand the wealth accumulation thing, your trust fund probably equals the national budget of a small country already, and there’s no way anyone could blow through the entire family fortune in a single generation. At this point, it just feels like generating wealth for the sake of generating it. What good is money if it just sits in a bank account or investment portfolio, earning passive income and not being used for anything.
You recognize you’re very privileged, you’ve never once had to worry about where your next meal would come from, you have a closet full of designer handbags and red bottom shoes the value of which could feed several families on the Cut. But what’s the cost? You feel suffocated by the pressure bestowed upon you by your parents. You’re the eldest sibling, primary heiress to the Y/L/N family fortune and expected future successor of the family business. Truthfully, you couldn’t give less of a fuck about retail development or whatever it is that keeps your father so busy that he missed every single one of your piano and ballet recitals growing up. You like the idea of studying Shakespeare’s sonnets and soliloquies over learning about mergers and acquisitions and tax avoidance laws at college, but you know your father would sooner cut you off than let you pursue your own passions.
Sometimes you let yourself fantasize about leaving it all behind, running off to some college like Columbia, moving to New York and living in the city that never sleeps. With your 4.0 GPA and stellar extracurricular activities, you could probably get a pretty good scholarship. Or maybe Paris, where you would sit in a cute little café flirting with French boys and writing poetry by the Seine River. But it would be hard, and you’re too much of a coward to see if you could make it on your own without daddy’s money. Not to mention the little voice in the back of your head that sounds suspiciously like your mothers telling you that you’ll never amount to anything without their help.
Later, you’re wandering the party, both hands curled tightly around the cup you hold to your lips, eyes staring out at the crowd over the rim. Unfortunately, you catch Rafe Cameron’s eye as he’s sat around the coffee table with a freshly cut white line ready on the surface. He’s surrounded by the idiots he calls friends and more than one pretty little rich girl making eyes at him. The left corner of his mouth turns up in a smirk as he realizes you’ve sized up the company around him.
“Hey Y/L/N, want a line? First one’s on me, babe.” He calls out at you, but you just roll your eyes and keep moving forward. As desperate as you are to feel something, you’re not sure you can cross that line just yet. Partaking in the occasional joint or bong rip is one thing, but hard drugs is another. You don’t think trading in the empty feeling in your chest for an addiction is worth it. Seeing the blown out pupils of some of your peers, and the way they not-so-discreetly sniff and wipe at their noses you realize you’re likely alone in that assessment. “Your loss!” he calls out at your retreating form, and you don’t even bother to look over your shoulder. You know he’s not really interested in you beyond making you a customer and maybe a quick fuck.
You snort to yourself, wondering what your mother would think about the boy she wanted you to pursue offering you a line of coke at a party. Knowing her, she would focus on the fact that you had gained his attention and ignore the illicit substance.
Making your way through the cluster of bodies is harder than you had initially thought, everyone was on everyone. Every kook party ends up this way, a certain subset of the group coked out and the rest so drunk they can’t function, and you begin to wonder why you even bothered coming.
You’re not totally sure what you’re looking for, your best friend and Rafe’s younger sister Sarah doesn’t really associate with this crowd anymore ever since she started spending all her time with the less fortunate side of the island. Rafe had called it ‘slumming with those dirty fucking pogues’ the last time Sarah had partied with you. Maybe it isn’t right to call her your best friend anymore because not only does she not associate with this crowd, she doesn’t really associate with you either.
You know she’s hanging with Kie again, there are a lot of watchful eyes on the island and even more flapping lips. It’s kind of ironic, Sarah was the one who convinced you to drop Kie, and you had let her. Now the two of them were spending all their time together on some dilapidated boat named after the inhabitants of the Cut and you were alone at some lame party with a heavy weight on your chest and under your eyes.
Sighing deeply, you down the rest of the contents of your cup and grab a refill before turning your attention back to the crowd of people in the middle of the living room. As your brain starts to fog further with the familiar feeling four vodka crans give you, you let Topper put his hands on your hips and pull your bodies close together, your back to his front. A voice in the back of your mind wonders if you’re supposed to feel guilt over Sarah’s ex’s hands all over your body, but you don’t feel anything and Sarah clearly doesn’t give a fuck about you either.
The next morning you wake up with Topper’s hands around your bare waist. There’s a pain radiating against your skull and you have cotton mouth, but you quietly gather your clothes and sneak out of the room before the sleeping blonde can wake up and give you that regretful look he gets in his eyes every time you hook up. You know he still loves Sarah, in his own fucked up way and though you don’t regret where you woke up, you know you’ll just be annoyed if you have to deal with his issues this early in the morning with this bad of a hangover.
You’ve almost successfully left the large mansion, quietly walking through the living room to the front door when a voice remarks dryly, “Really, y/n? I thought you were better than my sister’s leftovers.”
Inhaling through your nose and out your mouth sharply, you spin on your heel to face Rafe with a blank expression on your face. He sits at the kitchen island, bare-chested with his hat on backwards, casually eating a bowl of cereal. The thought of why exactly Rafe is sitting half naked in Topper’s kitchen, eating Topper’s cereal briefly flashes through your mind but you decide you don’t care. “What do you care Rafe?” you ask, only half interested in his response. There’s a moment of silence, and you pick at your fingernails rather than meet his gaze.
“I’m just saying, I thought you were better than that,” he shrugs, bringing another spoonful to his mouth.
You roll your eyes, already tired of the conversation, “And who, pray tell, is better for me?”
“Me of course,” he smirks at you, and you huff out an annoyed laugh and raise an eyebrow silently asking him to explain. “Come on princess, I know your parents want you to marry up. ‘m your best option on this island”.
Mildly annoyed, you roll your eyes and turn back towards the front door, eager to leave this conversation behind. “C’mon baby, we both know how this thing ends, with you on my arm as the perfect trophy wife.”
There was a time those words might have brought butterflies in your stomach. Growing up best friends with Sarah meant you also grew up with Rafe, and you used to have the biggest crush on him. Forbidden by Sarah after a late night game of truth or dare, you didn’t use to mind when your mother would spout off about Rafe being the perfect boy for you. He used to look out for you like he did for Sarah. But that was a long time ago, and he no longer cared about either of you anymore and you had to admit you couldn’t remember why you had ever thought him anything but repulsive. That was before the drugs and the untethered rage that always rests just under the surface of his skin, ready to be unleashed at the smallest slight. You might have married the little boy with the gap toothed smile who once punched Jacob Kane when you were in the second grade and he wouldn’t stop bothering you, but this Rafe wasn’t good for anything beyond a quick meeting in the dark.
If you had been able to feel anything, you might have snapped back at him, but you had no energy and honestly all you wanted was to shower in your own shower and collapse in your own bed, so you ignored his comment and slipped out the door.
It was a quick walk back to your house, and you snuck in quietly through the front door hoping no one was home and your dreams of slumbering until the early afternoon could be realized. Unfortunately, your mother sat on the cream colored chaise in the sitting room, clearly anticipating your arrival. Her eyes quickly scanned your appearance, your manolos held by the straps in your right hand, your sex hair and décolletage you were sure was covered in bites and bruises caused by overeager lips, before sighing.
“Y/n, darling, you have to stop this silly behaviour and settle down. Boys aren’t going to want to lock you down if they’ve already had you.” She criticizes, effectively slut-shaming you. You roll your eyes at that, briefly wondering if the old wives tale was true and you’d end up with your eyes stuck like that. You decide you don’t mind, it would save you some time as your base reaction to most interactions is to roll them.
“I had a rough night mom, I’d like to go back to bed,” you tell her as you try to slip past her. A cold hand circles your wrist, stiletto tipped manicure digging slightly into the skin stopping you from moving any further.
“I’m serious, y/n, you’re better than this.” She throws the same words Rafe had at you. Exasperated and exhausted you rip your wrist from her grasp and head to the stairs. “We’re not done talking about this!” she shouts but you ignore her and continue towards your nice shower and bed.
Rolling over to an empty bed several hours later, you grumble as you try to identify the source of your wakeup call. Cursing as you smack your arm against your side table, you finally manage to grab your ringing cell phone. Seeing RC flash as the contact calling, you groan loudly, before hitting the decline button and rolling back over. A minute later your phone chimes again, indicating a voice mail.
You figure there’s no point in drawing out the inevitable, so you unlock the phone and listen the voicemail Rafe left. He’s invited you to hang out with him and his friends on his dad’s yacht. Before you can talk yourself out of it, you’ve sent him a text to say you’d be there in an hour. Despite there being no love lost between you and Rafe, you really don’t have any better options and maybe if you tell your mom who you’re hanging out with she’ll get off your back and not subject you to The Lecture. You and Sarah used to laugh and joke about The Lecture, about how being a Y/L/N means being perfect and obtaining a perfect husband. The two of you would mock your mother, exaggerating her southern drawl that slipped out as she lectured you on the importance of propriety and ‘leaving something to the imagination’.
As you slip on a navy sundress with a deep neckline, you laugh, thinking to yourself that there’s not much left to leave to the imagination. You take the time to curl the ends of your hair to create a bouncy wave and apply a few coats of waterproof mascara and lip gloss. The humid heat of the OBX keeps your makeup routine light in the summer.
“And just where do you think you’re going?” Shit. Your dad’s home, he knows you stayed out all night, and he’s pissed. You don’t think your mom told him the full story, because he’s not frothing at the mouth mad, just his typical disappointed mad.
“Rafe invited a couple of friends to hang out on his dad’s yacht, daddy,” you reply back, not meeting his eyes.
You can tell your dad disapproves, because the lines between his eyebrows are more pronounced with his narrowed eyes. As he starts to give you what you’re sure is an impassioned lecture, your mother pops up out of nowhere, gushing, “Rafe? Well of course you can go sweetie, isn’t that right hon?” she turns to your dad, a single eyebrow raised daring him to defy her. Your parents are the ultimate power couple, wielding power and guilt over each other almost as easily as they try to do to you.
He sighs, realizing the fight with his vengeful wife isn’t worth the lesson you’re not going to learn anyway and nods, “Alright, just be back for supper, we’re going to sit down as a family tonight. And tell Sarah we said hi.”
If either parent noticed your stiffened back, they don’t comment on it. You hadn’t told them that Sarah dumped you like yesterday’s news just yet. Why blow a perfect cover story? Again, the lack of guilt should probably concern you, but you’re more focused on the very expensive, very good quality wine that you know is waiting for you on the Cameron’s yacht.
An hour later, you’re sitting between a very uncomfortable Topper and a disinterested Kelce with a full wineglass in your left hand. Your right hand slides your sunglasses back onto your eyes to shield them from the harsh sunlight that beats down directly on your face.
You can’t find the energy to strike up a conversation with either of them, and they don’t seem very inclined to start one either, so you turn your head to the side and look out at the water until you see a familiar beat up boat approaching. You visibly tense as your eyes lock on your blonde former best friend laughing with her arm around John B as their stupid friends talk and laugh around them. “You okay, y/n?” Kelce finally speaks, noticing your change in posture.
“Never better,” you drily reply moving to turn your head back to the other side of the yacht, as if the other boat on the water didn’t exist at all. Your eyes briefly flicker to the other blond on the boat, taut muscles on display beyond the ratty cut-off tank top as the pogue known as JJ attempts to wrestle with his friend Pope. You feel a drop in your stomach that perplexes you as your eyes scan his sunkissed skin. Startled, you turn your head quickly and take a huge sip of your wine.
You anticipated some sort of confrontation, maybe a thrown insult, but their boat simply eclipsed the yacht and they continued on their way. You were annoyed by the concerned look that Kelce threw your way after they had left, so you downed your glass and grabbed Rafe’s hand and all but dragged him inside the cabin.
The second the door shuts behind you, you’re on him, mouths mashing in a hungry kiss. He smirks against your mouth and leads you into the bathroom and proceeds to rid you of your clothes.
As you’re letting Rafe Cameron fuck you in the bathroom of his yacht, your mind can’t help but think you’re fucking over Sarah, too.
“Fuck baby, you feel so good,” he praises in your ear as he thrusts into you from behind. You don’t even have the energy to fake a moan, you just lean your head back against his shoulder.
When he’s finished, you simply slip your dress back on, refill your glass and sit back between Topper and Kelce as if they didn’t just hear you hook up with their best friend.
You go to bed early that night after a “nice family dinner” that consists of back-handed compliments and your mother fishing for details about your time on the yacht. You don’t think she’d be too pleased about letting Rafe ‘have you’ before ‘locking you down’, so you keep it to a minimum. Both parents drill it into your head that as a Y/L/N, you’re held to a higher standard than your peers. Perfect grades, perfect life, perfect daughter. You don’t know how to tell them you don’t even feel human anymore, so you smile and nod as they pester and nag. Your little sister sits quietly the whole time, looking at you with an emotion you can’t quite decipher.

~ Chapter Seven ~
Today was a total fail, she'd thought it would be one of the best days ever - well it was until they got on the Pogue,
things were going fine, she had her bag of dark chocolate almonds and stole one of JJ's hats, she was joking around until of course, JJ was being typical JJ and Pope hit a sandbar- only it was actually a Grady White.
But Ruby in the middle of the ruckas fell off the bench and twisted her ankle, now giving her a very non attractive limp.
With a sigh she got ready for the kegger- maybe this could be her chance. She got dressed in a red lace tank top and put a silk black long sleeve button up over it, only doing the bottom two buttons.
she slipped on her favorite blacked ripped jeans then grabbed her beat up combat boots. Her anxiety was beginning to form as she restyled her ponytail so two long strands were out and framing her face,
she did simple makeup and nodded at her reflection - her thoughts however were cut short by her brother, " I need you to play peacemaker, just go with Sage and JJ to get the kegs " John B said, " why me? Why can't Kie go?" Ruby complained,
" because she's helping me set up - same with Pope " he dismissed and tapped the pout on her lips, " now go, just stick with JJ " he said and with a huff she walked out of her room and went out to Sage's jeep.
Ruby much rather would've preferred to take her own truck, it was a blue and white square body Chevy, it was loud too- her eyes would light up each time she got behind the wheel according to JJ.
But much to her dismay she was in the back of Sage's jeep, she expected JJ to try and sit up front with Sage but was shocked when he got in the back with her. ' Play it cool- play it cool' Ruby silently reminded herself.
The ride was pretty much silent until JJ suddenly scooted over to the middle seat to be closer to Ruby, " so what do you think about that Grady White?" He asked and she shrugged, " it's probably nothing.." Ruby said, she didn't want to cause a rift but she saw the way Sage's hands tightened on the wheel once she saw them in the rearview.
She jumped as JJ put his hand over hers for comfort, much like she had done for him the night before, " are you alright?" He asked with genuine concern,
"hm? Oh y-yeah i'm fine" she dismissed, desperately trying not to focus on him but instead she yanked his hat off and put it on her own head with a mischievous grin, " hey! You already stole one today!" He teased and she laughed, handing the hat back.
JJ looked down at her much more serious this time, " you could've kept it" he said and she shrugged, " I already have enough" she said and he slightly smiled,
" thanks Rubes I'll buy you another one for your collection - well I should be getting some back soon" he said and that was the moment Sage snapped, jerking the car into park, " we're here" she grumbled and got out, slamming the car door behind her.
Ruby scrambled to get out of the Jeep, running into the liquor store with JJ hot on her tail, she needed a distraction, " uhm why don't you get cups? I'm just gonna go get something for myself " she said and with a sigh JJ stalked off.
She pressed her back against one of the shelves and sighed in relief - she couldn't keep doing this, one way or another she had to tell JJ how she felt.

bby congrats on 600! 🥳🥺💕 can i request 23, and 33 from the second prompt list with jj please!!
23. “Take my jacket.”
33. “I like when you wear my clothes.”
Thank you so so much bby<3 hope you like this!
==========================
You shivered in the night time chill of the Outer Banks tonight, joining your friends at the chateau for a bonfire. The only thing keeping you warm was the heat of your hands rubbing your arms, your teeth now starting to shatter. Your knees bounced to try and produce more body heat, of course that didn’t do much.
JJ walked out of the chateau, his signature red hat turned backwards as he had a cigarette he borrowed from you hanging loosely from his lips. He had yet to look up from his phone to see your shivering form, plopping down beside of you. You immediately snuggled into your boyfriends side, hanging on to his bicep to try and get some heat.
“Baby you’re freezing! Here, take my jacket.” he gasped, ripping the garment off to throw over you.
“Thanks J, you’re so sweet.” you mumbled between your still chattering teeth, JJ wrapping himself around you to keep you warm.
The both of you stayed glued like that for the rest of the night, JJ turning every now and then to ask if you were ok. You loved how sweet he was, he tried to play like he was some hard ass, but you knew that he was really a giant teddy bear.
“You’re so cute baby,” you gushed, kissing his lips quickly.
“Stop, men aren’t cute.” he grumbled.
“You’re my cute baby J,” I smiled.
“I’ll show you cute,” he smirked, picking you up and running to the chateau.
A lot of fun later, the both of you laid naked in his bed. You still felt cold so you grabbed the shirt he was wearing along with your undies, sliding them on before jumping back under the covers.
“I like when you wear my clothes baby.” JJ spoke, pulling you against him as you both drifted off.

Grow Up
“More john b!” -user1019748
“John b x reader, please?” -nonnie
“John B needed!” -nonnie
Pairing: John B x Maybank!Reader (mainly), JJ Maybank x YoungerSister!Reader (ish)
Word Count: 1282
Trigger/Warnings: swearing, sadness
A/N: I’ve come to realize I never state directly in the writing whether or not you are actually dating John, so I guess it’s open for you as the reader to decide whether this is an older brother influence, or a romantic interest with John. I see it more as an unspoken “They’re together,” type of thing but if you want me to write with more of a clear where they stand aspect lmk.
It had been dusk, and you didn’t know where your older brother had been, or what he had been up to, but you wanted to know why two grown men were chasing after you. JJ, or your father, had obviously done something to piss them off, making you the inevitable target of choice. Take the baby bear to get the big bear. The unpredictable behavior of his was starting to become an issue.
You had finally made it to John B’s, where you hoped to find your brother. You opened the door catching many faces off guard, but not seeing the face that has caused your problems.
“Where the fuck is my dumbass brother,” you seethed. “I’m gonna fucking kill him.” You grabbed the nearest heavy object and walked towards the front door.
“Woah woah woah, Y/N, calm down,” Kie said as she grabbed your shoulders, trying to slow down another Maybank rage.
“He’s so fucking careless! I haven’t seen him in days, I just got chased by two men with automatic weapons through the woods, and I tried to buy myself some food today and that fucking cocaine dealer was waiting for me!” you sobbed, dropping the paper weight to the floor, your body going with it. “I’m so, so tired of living in fear because my goddamn brother and father can’t get it together!”
John B walked over to you, picking up the paperweight, and wiping the tears from your eyes. “J-John, I haven’t been home in four days because there are men in my house!”
“Kie, go grab the blanket off the spare bed. Pope, look out for JJ,” John directed them. Kiara wrapped you in the blanket, and John pulled you closer. You gripped on his shirt as he tried to console you.
The way you clung to John B, revealed how devastating JJ’s actions were to you. The grip you held on his shoulders made your knuckles turn white. Your long blonde hair was ratty, fingernails chewed down so far your fingers were swollen, and the cuts up and down your arms, presumably from running through the marsh and woods.
“Y/N, don’t you worry, we won’t let anyone hurt you,” John mused. He picked you up and walked towards his bedroom.
“You shouldn’t have to protect me, that’s the issue,” you sobbed. You were crying so hard, and breathing so quickly that you were inducing yourself with panic.
John pressed his lips to your forehead and asked you to mimic his breathing. While trying to hold back the sobs, they quickly turned into gags.
“Kie, I’m gonna need a trash can,” he yelled out to his friend who was in the living room. She came running in just in time for you to throw up the little contents of your stomach. “Y/N, we’re all here to protect you. Whether JJ can step up to the plate or not, we are here to help.”
John B sat there holding your hand, as he tapped little sequences into the dorsal side of your hand. When you were younger, the two of you had derived a secret code to be able to communicate without speaking. 3 taps, over and over and over. He was trying to signify affection. You responded with 3 weak taps. It was almost as if JB could feel your sadness. You had lost your best friend. JJ was all you had. You had always been the more mild mannered sibling of the two, constantly being the optimistic one. At the same time you shared characteristics. If anyone thought JJ was loyal to who he cared about, you were another level of protective. That was what made you so upset about your brother. Not only would you be concerned for any of the pogues if they were in JJ’s position, but the bond shared between the Maybanks was unimaginable.
“John B, I don’t know how to save him, he’s so lost. He takes the beatings my dad has for me so I don’t have to. He needs help.” John Booker Routledge had never felt his heart sink further down in his chest before.
He sat up a little straighter and pulled you out from the crook of his neck. He kissed the tip of your snotty nose, and pulled the hair out of your face. “We’ll save him I promise,” and with that he placed a kiss on your lips.
Just as John had gotten your sobs to soften, everyone turned at the sound of the screen door opening. Your heart rate increased and more tears came to your eyes as you saw the male version of yourself standing in the doorway. For once he was completely sober. JJ looked sleep deprived and his brows were creased at all the attention on him.
“You have some explaining to do,” Kiara stated curtly. “You need to pull that head out of your ass.”
JJ’s ears picked up familiar sobs, and quickly disregarded Kie’s statement. When he pushed open the door to John’s room he saw red. You meant everything JJ, and he was ready for war.
“Oh, Y/N” he went to rub your head never imagining your response.
“Don’t you dare touch me!” you pulled back from him, digging deeper into John B’s chest. Here you were, breaking a second boy’s heart tonight.
“Who made her this upset?” he spat. He ripped his hat off, throwing it on the ground. “John, tell me!”
“You.” JJ’s face turned into confusion. “You did. She was chased by men with guns, her food was stolen by that drug dealer you robbed, and most importantly you didn’t even let her know where you were.”
It was now that JJ could see all the damage he had done to the one person he swore to protect. Your little blue eyes were now swollen shut and red, shaking body from all the crying, and he connected the dots that the trashcan full of vomit was from you. The scene before him was too much. He left the bedroom and was met with angry faces.
“J, you need to get it together, man,” Pope said, going into the room to give you water.
“JJ, I don’t mean to be harsh on you, but that girl in there needs you. You are the only family she has, and the closest thing to a father. Grow up and go be the big brother she needs,” Kiara said, spinning him around back to the source of commotion.
“Y/N/N, come here,” he lent down to eye level, trying to find your eyes.
“No, I want John B,” with those words JJ turned around and walked to go find Kie and Pope.
Once JJ had left the room you instantly relaxed and melted in John B’s form. “Can I sleep here?”
“I would never turn you down,” he replied. “Just know I’m always here.” The both of you laid there for a while, tapping various sequences on your back and his chest. To your surprise, John B had fallen asleep first, legs and arms still tangled within your own.
You scooted up his body just a tad, placing tiny kisses on his jaw, slowly moving towards behind his ear. He slowly fluttered his eyes open, turning toward the feeling of being touched. He responded to your advances with sloppy, open mouth kisses. His hands were brought up to cradle your face, deepening the kiss even further. Your hands went down to unbutton his shorts when he stopped you.
“Look, you’ve had a long day, we can continue this when you’re in the right mind. And when your brother’s not in the next room over.”

Rough Drafts
Pairing: Spencer Reid x Reader
Warnings: Explicit descriptions of a murder scene, argument, angst, and cursing.
A/N: Okay, so I know I said I was gonna publish this yesterday but I got Cassandra Clare’s newest book and I couldn’t put it down. I seriously love that lady. Omg. Anyways, it’s here now! And it’s angsty! And there’s gonna be a fourth part soon I promise! For real. Don’t forget to reblog, comment, send me an ask or a message and overall just adore me so that I may continue to feel good about myself. As always thank you for supporting me and I hope you enjoy!!!
[ Part One | Part Two ]
___
An incredulous laugh bursts from your lips, your nails cutting crescent moons into the palms of your hands as you try and convince yourself that this isn’t actually happening.
“Do you have alibis for your whereabouts on Monday, June eighth, Saturday, June thirteenth, and Thursday, June eighteenth?” Spencer can see your leg bouncing rapidly under the table, your eyes flying over the pictures and the expression of Emily Prentiss. You seem genuine, but he can’t trust himself to get an accurate read of you anymore.
“I, uhm, I- I wouldn’t know off the top of my head. I keep a planner, I’ll forget things otherwise.” The burst of iron in your mouth is not something you’re unused to, having chewed your cheek so badly that the skin there has broken under your teeth.
“We’ll need to see that.” Emily isn’t sure whether or not she believes that you’re guilty, watching the way you seem to unravel before her. When you look at the crime scene photos, it isn't with any pleasure, but with disgust. Your nose wrinkles a little at the bridge and you keep looking away as the blood from your face starts to drain.
Either you’re a really good actress or you aren’t the unsub.
Emily says as much as she flips through the small teal planner that you’d willingly given them. Due dates for chapters, publishing events, book signings and days for book tours fill most of the pages in your most neat handwriting. Dates you plan to go visit your mother, grocery shop, doctor’s appointments, even plans to go somewhere and write.
Everything is explicitly stated, that way you’re never unsure of what you meant to tell yourself. That is, until around three weeks ago when a handful of days are notated with an ‘S,’ followed by a random doodle. Sometimes it’s a tiny heart drawn absentmindedly while you discuss the plans over the phone, other times it’s a cartoon bunny or a top hat.
Garcia is the first to take notice of it, her fingers faltering in their constant thrum against the keyboard in front of her. She glances out of the side of her glasses, raising her eyebrows suggestively.
“Looks like lonely girl found herself a boo.”
“That makes sense,” JJ says from the chair she’s pulled into Penelope’s office from the bullpen. A pen is stretched between her hands, her posture relaxed into the curve of the stiff, government-issued rolly chair.
All the girls have gathered into the tech analyst’s room while the men take turns interrogating you. Well, all except Spencer. He just stands behind that window watching your every move with eyes like a hawk. “What doesn’t make sense is why she keeps it secret even in her personal planner.”
“Maybe she has a stalker? That could be who is doing all this?”
“Then she wouldn’t keep careful notation of everything else going on in her life. A stalker would follow her every move, not just her romantic interests. Even if he is in love with her.”
“A partner, maybe? Like the days they planned the murders or days they were acted out?”
“None of the days line up with the crimes, save for this one,” Emily leans the book toward the two women with her finger just underneath June fifth, the day Alison Crane was abducted from outside her campus dorm room. It’s the third ‘S’ scribbled into the corner of a day in the entire book.
“And there is nothing else written in relation to this ‘S’ character?” JJ shakes her head, looking for any clues that could be nestled among the loops and curls of your writing. Reid would be better at this, he was the graphology expert among them. So why wasn’t he back here helping?
“Then I guess we better try and get her to talk about it. Meanwhile Garcia, we’ll get Rossi and Reid to head over to her apartment and you can hack into her computer?” Penelope spins the chair, a flash of bright colors and blond hair. She clicks her tongue in response, throwing up a fingers gun and winking.
“Whatever you need me to do, I’m on it like sexy on Derek Morgan stepping out of the shower in a towel.”
After some arguing, and maybe just a little bit of pleading, they manage to convince Reid to join Rossi on a trip to your apartment. He can’t help but feel a little uncomfortable, standing in your living room. Not because he’d been here before, but because he’d never been here before.
The empty mugs that litter every surface, smelling of old coffee and your favorite coffee creamer (he only knows it’s your favorite because you explicitly ask for that creamer at every coffee shop the two of you have ever gone to), is unfamiliar to him. He’s invited you to his apartment at least three times. How come he had never been to yours?
Small pages and notebooks of scribbled ideas and dialogues cover just as many areas as the coffee cups do, your handwriting messy and cramped in every note. It’s almost like you couldn’t get the idea out of your head fast enough.
The bed in your room is meticulously made without a wrinkle in sight, but that could be because of the obvious bed you’ve made yourself along the salmon pink couch that stretches out in front of your TV. A multicolored crochet blanket is thrown haphazardly over the back, a pillow still slightly squished against the arm.
On the coffee table is a half opened laptop, a notebook with red and black ink scribbled in the lines, and a still full cup of coffee. Rossi makes quick work of calling Garcia and helping her get patched into your computer. It’s strange, watching her move the mouse on your screen from miles away.
Reid never stops moving, walking the length of your studio apartment with his eyes peeled for any kind of information he could find. It’s obvious that you spend most of your time in the main room, which houses the kitchen, a small dining area, and the living room. A door leading into your room branches off to a small bathroom which is just as disorganized as everything else in your house.
Hair products, skin washes, and all kinds of makeup are scattered across the sink and back of your toilet. It’s funny because every time he’s ever met up with you, you’re bare faced and your hair is still drying from the shower you took before leaving your house. The tube of lipstick he picks up makes him think he doesn’t really know you at all.
On the nightstand in your room is a bottle of water with the label ripped off and the two Rossi books you’d bought that fateful day in the bookstore. The label from the water bottle is stuck between the middle pages of one of the books. The passages in question don’t lend anything to connecting you as a homicidal maniac, let alone a serial killer.
Back in the living room, Garcia is snooping through every aspect of your computer.
“I don’t know whether or not the be freaked out by her web history. There’s a lot of murder-y questions here. ‘Signs of a post mortem amputation,’ ‘How much blood can you lose and still live?,’ ‘Most brutal ways to be killed.’ It’s creepy.” Rossi is flicking through the notebook from the table, his eyes squinted as he tried to make sense of the abbreviations and scribblings of another writer.
“She writes crime novels so it isn’t entirely strange for her to be looking at those types of things.” Thankfully, the defense of your web search history comes from the older man who looks up as Garcia delves deeper and deeper. Spencer had thought it first, but hadn’t said anything to avoid suspicion. He’s smart enough to know that the truth has to come out eventually, but he wants to be sure of your innocence (or guilt, he reminds himself a bit glumly) before he reveals your link to him.
“I’m not seeing anything she could be using to contact a partner unless her partner is one of the publishing people she’s constantly messaging via email.” At this Spencer stops, leaning against the back of the couch with his weight resting on the heels of his hands. The stance appears relaxed. He is anything but.
“Why do we assume she has a partner?” Reid asks, impatiently pushing a stray curl away from his face. Rossi glances at him curiously, otherwise undistracted from the shake the movement gives the couch.
“Oh, Prentiss, JJ, and I were looking through her little teal book earlier and the only thing not explicitly stated was just the letter ‘S.’ It’s why they came back to interrogate and they sent you guys to her house. I thought they told you.”
Spencer wants to beat his head against the wall.
“That isn’t a lead, Garcia. You have to tell them that ‘S’ isn’t her partner.” The mouse on the computer screen falters, several saved documents for different rough drafts of books or drabbles are pulled up the way you might have papers scattered about in front of you.
“What is it? Do you know who ‘S’ is?” Rossi is turned sideways on the couch, looking over the back and up at the distressed man in front of him. It doesn’t take him long to connect the dots when they make eye contact. Penelope impatiently whines over the phone.
“I’m ‘S,’ I’ve been seeing her for the last three weeks. I’m sure if you tell me the dates then every single one of them will be days that we’ve had plans together.”
“I’m sorry, what?!” Before anyone has the chance to say anything else, the door to Garcia’s office opens and a second voice filters through Rossi’s phone speaker. It’s JJ.
“Let Reid and Rossi know there’s just been another murder.”
This time it’s a fifteen year old girl. Her hair is black and wet, her lips are as blue as the sky, and she’s naked. Water droplets from her skin have soaked into the sheet of paper that was layed over her chest. The bathtub she’s in is completely empty, but it doesn’t take a genius to know that she was drowned there. The bruises on her shoulders from the force the unsub used to pin her down are dark against the contrast of her already pale skin.
...The man leaned over the tub, his eyes squinted in thought and his lips skewed a little to the side. Ryder stayed focused on the crime scene, for the most part. But even detectives of her caliber, and higher, could easily get lost in the eyes that look up at her from beneath long golden-brown lashes.
“Detective?” She blinks the distraction away, looking back at the girl, her black hair wet and spiraling like the snakes on Medusa’s head against the ivory siding of the drained tub. Ryder can’t help but wish the girl had been lucky enough to turn her killer to stone. Maybe it would have saved her.
“Agent.” She crosses her arms, looking anywhere but at the man across from her, pretending to look for any useful clues. Ryder had gotten to the crime scene fourty-five minutes before the pair of FBI Agents had walked in. The man, who had introduced himself as Supervisory Special Agent Matthew Gray, had decided to join her in the second floor bathroom. His partner, a woman named Katherine Swift, had taken to looking for clues through the rest of the house.
Agent Gray is beautiful. It’s the only adjective that seems to stick to him with certainty, every other aspect of his personality just as elusive as the exact color of those eyes. Even as short as his hair is, the golden brown tendrils are unkempt and curl every which way. Ryder has to force her hand to stay at her side and not reach up to smooth an alfalfa that does nothing for the serious expression on his face.
She keeps imagining what it would feel like if he reached out to kiss her, curling his fingers into her hair and bringing her unworthy lips up to meet his. He’s tall so she would probably have to stretch a little, but she wouldn’t mind. Not when his hands are tangled in her hair and he’s giving her the kiss she’s been silently begging for since the moment he flashed that crooked grin at her.
The imagination is so vivid that she jumps when her own partner, Detective Russo, comes around the corner of the hallway and straight into the bathroom...
The paper crinkles in the evidence bag as Morgan places it on the table, trying to ignore the daggers being glared into him on the other side of the mirror.
Nobody on the team had been very happy with Spencer when they heard the news about your relationship, Hotch had nearly snatched him by the scruff of his neck when he made to go into the interrogation room. But after several minutes of thoroughly explaining himself, Hotch had sent Morgan in. To say Spencer was infuriated was an understatement.
“Do you know what this is, (Y/N)?” You look down at it, twisting the evidence bag so that you could read the Times New Roman font you always wrote in when writing in Microsoft Word. The words cover the front and back of the copy paper, but you don’t have to read it through all the way before you know what it is.
“It’s a page from my newest book.” The bag scratches against the tabletop as you push it away from you, crossing your arms over your chest. Your face is stoplight red with embarrassment at the thought of Spencer reading this page, mostly because you had pulled so heavily from your own thoughts when first meeting Spencer to write Ryder and Gray’s first meeting. You created Matthew Gray to write about Spencer Reid in a way that felt less ‘high school diary entry.’
“More specifically, it’s from the book you just started working on about a month ago. The one that only you and your agent have access to.” Finally, Morgan sits. Before, he’d just been pacing around you the way a lioness might stalk around her prey before she launches an attack. It made you uneasy, but that was the whole point, wasn’t it?
“Do you know where we found it, (Y/N)?” His muscles bulge against his shirtsleeves when he leans them up on the table. Derek Morgan is a very attractive man, you’ll give him that, but if making you uneasy and putting you in the room with a attractive man to fluster you was their strategy then they should have sent in Spencer.
“My computer.”
“We found it on the body of a dead girl.” Another picture joins the ones already shuffled around the table. You can barely look at it, nausea and tears building in your throat at the sight of another person dying the same way you’d written in a story. When you don’t respond, Morgan continues.
“‘She was found at the bottom of an empty bathtub, a pale leg hooked over the edge of the porcelain siding, and her arms pinned to her sides in death. Bruises discolored the skin at her shoulders, and Ryder knew at first glance that her cause of death would be asphyxiation by drowning.’” He drops the paper back to the table, having picked it up to read the passage from the end of the page.
“That’s wrong,” You say, leaning back over the table to look at the paper again. Derek looks down, like the words might have changed in the moment he looked away, but the text stays exactly the same as before.
“That’s exactly what is written here.” You shake your head, pulling the bag back to you and wrinkling your forehead in thought.
“I don’t doubt that is what you read, Agent Morgan,” Your eyes fly over the page, reading the end of the excerpt with overwhelming relief. The bag sticks a little to the pad of your index finger as you tap over the paragraph in question. “But I rewrote this scene only two nights ago. It’s on my computer, I’m sure your tech analyst can confirm my claim. This girl, Bella, she doesn’t die from drowning anymore. Her hands are tied above her head to the faucet and she’s strangled. I couldn’t decide if I wanted it to be by her sister or her girlfriend.”
JJ rushes back to Penelope’s office, on a mission to confirm your statement just as you had suggested. Meanwhile, Morgan’s mind is rushing to figure out the mess he is currently sat in. You lean back in your chair now, unsure if the dizziness you feel is from lack of food or the sudden realization that they couldn’t pin this to you anymore.
“I’m not your bad guy. If I was doing this to prove to my mother that my writing is good, that I chose the right career, as your profile says, I wouldn’t change the scene in my book and not change the murder.” In Morgan’s earpiece, Hotch tells him that you were telling the truth about editing the scene two nights ago.
“Unless you planned it to throw us off track. We know about your relationship with Spencer, you’ve probably found out all kinds of things to do to keep us from catching you.”
You clench your teeth, straightening into your chair and pinning Derek down with a look you’d learned from your mother. It makes him think of his mom, your eyes narrowed and your gaze so cold that it could cause frostbite. He watches curiosily as you tilt your chin up a little, trying to hide the pricks behind your eyes and the wobble of your lip. Derek notices them, the entire team notices. They’re trained to notice.
“I want a lawyer.” You say simply, you voice is sharp and quiet but it does the job of slicing through the tension already building in the room.
“Come on, you don’t need a lawyer.”
“That’s where you’re wrong again, Agent Morgan. I do need a lawyer. Because even though I have full-heartedly trusted the justice system since I was in diapers, and even though I came to these offices willing to help your team in any way that I could, you are still trying to use me as a scapegoat instead of actually doing your fucking job and finding the bastard who is killing people in my name.
“A study from criminal law bulletin says that 10,000 people are wrongfully convicted of serious crimes every year. One in every twenty-five people sentenced to death are innocent, Agent Morgan. Just since 1973, more than 160 people were exonerated from the death penalty. That’s not even counting the people who were killed. But you sure as hell aren’t about to make me apart of that statistic because you want to waste your time trying to piece an investigation around me. That’s not how you’re supposed to do your job. So until you can remember how to do it correctly, I do need a lawyer. Thank you.”
By the time you finish you’ve leaned over the table, your index finger jammed into the wood to make your point. It feels like your chest is on fire as you slam back into your seat and cross your arms, determined to keep your silence for the rest of the time you were forced to sit here.
Everyone on the opposite side of the mirror is stunned into silence, their eyes focused on you even as Derek gathers all the things from the desk and walks out looking a little flustered himself. If Spencer was totally honest, your outburst was actually kind of hot. He has to remind himself that you may have killed eight people in cold blood.
Your lawyer makes it to the BAU in record time, his red hair expertly gelled back from his face. His icy blue eyes only cracking when he sees you sitting by yourself in the interrogation room. Spencer can tell by the way that he lowers himself on the balls of his feet to talk to you, reaching out to touch the hand that sits on your thigh, that he knows you personally. He likes you, actually. Spencer tried to tell himself that it doesn’t make him glad when you pull your hand out of his and awkwardly pat his arm.
He’s been lying to himself a lot today.
Hotch is the one to go back in the room, he was the best at dealing with lawyers. Unfortunately his best wasn’t enough to keep you in custody and soon your lawyer, who Spencer learned was named Jeremy, was walking you out of the room for the first time in six hours.
Your back cracks when you stand, your shoulders rolling back to try and ease some of the stress you’d been holding there since this morning. The sound of the door swinging open for you is almost heavenly, the feel of the air outside of the room is damn near enough to make you cry.
When you look to the side, ready to leave out the second door that leads into the hallway and away from this mess, you meet eyes with the only profiler of the BAU that you hadn’t seen that day. Spencer looks back at you with an expression that you find hard to put into words.
He almost looks sorry, the regret evident in the slight widening of his eyes, but at the same time his chin is tilted up like he is facing an enemy he has vowed to take down no matter the cost. His shoulders are squared, but his arms are uncrossed and his palms are open.
And even though you knew you wouldn’t be there without him knowing, the reassurance that Spencer knew and even suspected you is like a blow to the chest and stomach. It robs you of air, causing you to stumble.
Jeremy reaches to steady you. You shake him off, pulling your eyes from the young doctor and focusing all of your attention on the door knob.
“I’m fine, Jeremy.” Your tone of voice is more harsh than you intended but you’re still struggling to collect oxygen, even when you slide into your car by yourself, it feels like you can’t get enough air. The walk from the BAU offices to the parking lot had passed in a blur. Jeremy’s talk about staying at home and keeping your head low had gone by even faster, and now that you have time to truly be by yourself, everything hits like a ton of bricks thrown at you from a speeding train.
In the midst of your panic attack, gasping for air into the palms of your shaking hands, questioning everything about yourself and your career, you don’t register the shuffle of movement in your backseat. You’re so deep in your mind that you almost don’t notice the cool press of a gun barrel against the back of your neck until a familiar voice lifts your head from your hands.
“Drive.”
