Adventures In Babysitting
Tumblr media
Pairing: Calum Hood/ Female OC
Reqested By: N/A
Word Count: 7,922
Summary: Natalie and Calum host her six year old niece, Iris, for two weeks during her summer vacation. Adventures ensue.
Natalie Cooper loved her niece more than anyone else in the world. The only person who could even come close was her boyfriend, Calum. She'd left home to move to California just after Iris's third birthday, three years ago. The two of them talked on the phone and facetimed each other as often as possible, she'd even talked her sister in law into getting a Snapchat so that they could send each other funny selfies. She was lucky enough to be able to travel back home a few times a year and she lived for the time that they got to spend together during those visits. But, as much as they talked and kept in touch, Natalie still missed her terribly between those visits. Before she'd left, Iris was her shadow. Her little helper, her real life mini-me. So when Iris had asked her parents if she could visit Natalie in California during her summer vacation, she'd almost screamed with excitement.
Iris's mother, April was hesitant. She was only six years old and had never spent more than a single night away from home. Natalie and her brother, Ryan had assured her that she would be fine with Natalie. She was surprised to hear her brother defending Calum, since he’d never really been a big fan of her boyfriend. After what felt like years of consideration, she’d finally agreed, under the condition that she would call every day. A few more ground rules were set- no concerts, no out of state travel, constant updates and pictures- and finally, a date was set.
Natalie and Calum decided to go back to her hometown to pick Iris up and fly her back to California together. The day of their trip came so much more slowly than Natalie would have liked. She was nearly bouncing in her seat as the pilot announced that they would be landing soon.
“You might actually explode if you don’t calm down.” Calum giggled next to her, placing his hand over hers on the armrest of her seat.
“I’m just really excited.” She sighed, trying to calm herself down as he linked his fingers with hers. “I can’t wait to show her everything. She’s gonna, like, lose her tiny little mind.”
“Your brother already hates me. I don’t want to send his kid back home ruined after two weeks at my house.”
Natalie placed her free hand on his arm, just below his elbow. “If he hated you, she wouldn’t be coming with us at all.” She told him with a smile, giving his arm a gentle squeeze. “He just doesn’t love the idea that I moved away from home and he thinks it’s your fault.”
“But we didn’t even meet until after that!” He said defensively, just a little too loud.
“I know that!” She answered, just as loudly with a small laugh. She leaned into him, resting her head on his shoulder. “Besides, as long as we don't send her home with a tattoo, it'll be fine.”
“Okay, so then I have an appointment to cancel when we land.”
As soon as they landed, Calum immediately found her family waiting for the two of them in the airport. April held tightly to Iris's hand, looking like she was barely holding her back as she bounced on her heels when she saw Natalie and Calum approaching.
“Hey, peanut!” Natalie called out to her, dropping to her knees and opening her arms as soon as they were close enough. April let go of her daughter's hand and she ran into her open arms, nearly knocking Natalie over as she hugged her. “Are you ready to come to California with us?” Natalie asked excitedly as she pulled away.
“Yeah!” She answered, matching her level of excitement and nodding her head frantically. “Daddy said tomorrow!”
“Yup.” Natalie answered as she stood up. “I'm gonna visit with Grandma and Grandpa tonight, and then tomorrow, Calum and I are stealing you for two whole weeks.”
She glanced up at Calum as they walked towards the rest of her family. “Oh, hi Calum!” She said with a small wave, almost like she'd forgotten he was there.
“Hello,” He answered with a giggle and a wave. “We’re really excited for you to come stay with us.”
“I'm so excited!” She told him, bouncing again as they reached her family. “Me and mommy made a whole list of all the places I want to go.”
“You did?” He asked, kneeling down in front of her, placing one hand on his knee.
“Yeah! Mommy showed me pictures on the internet and everything!”
“So what's on this list of yours?” He asked as he stood up straight, taking her hand and following the rest of the group to the car. Natalie couldn't help but to smile as she listened to Iris rambling to Calum about all of the exciting places she wanted to see. Calum was just as enthusiastic as she was as he told her that they would try to do everything on her list.
Natalie loved seeing them talk and get on so well. Calum loved Iris, but she was always a little apprehensive about him. Nobody could really blame her, she'd only actually met him a handful of times and there was always at least a six month gap between visits. Part of Natalie was slightly worried about her visit, not sure how she'd act being around him constantly for two weeks. But as she sat in the back seat of the car with Calum, Iris sitting between them, and listened to her give him the entire history of Disneyland (the number one place on her list) she knew that she would be just fine.
“I don't know, munchkin.” He sighed. “Disneyland is pretty hard to get into this time of year.” Natalie rolled her eyes at him, knowing that they had three day tickets, complete with two nights in the Disneyland Hotel, already booked and waiting for them.
“‘M not a munchkin.” Iris said definitely, crossing her arms over her chest.
Calum giggled, “Ya look like a munchkin to me.”
“Mommy!” She whined. April turned around in the front seat to face her. “Calum called me a munchkin!”
She looked over at him with a smile. “Well, he's 25 feet tall, baby. Everyone is a munchkin to him.”
Everyone, including Natalie, had to laugh at the look of mock offense on his face. Natalie reached over her niece's head and tangled her fingers into the curls at the back of his head, scratching at his scalp lightly. “You're not 25 feet tall.” She said sweetly. “Only 24 and a half.”
“Thanks, babe.” He said, laughing along with everyone else.
Later that night, when Iris had fallen asleep after hours of claiming to be too excited for sleep, her parents sat Natalie and Calum down in her parents living room.
“She's potty trained, but she might have accidents…”
“We already put a cover on the bed.” Natalie said, cutting April off.
“Okay. And she can't sleep without-”
“Without a nightlight and her mouse book.”
“Yeah, and don't let her stay up too late or watch anything scary before bed.”
“So, Amityville is out?”
“Yes!” She looked at Natalie like she had three heads before noticing the smirk on her face.
“Relax, she's going to be fine.” Natalie told her, reaching over to place a hand on her back. “I'll make sure she calls everyday, and I'll send you a minimum of a hundred pictures hourly.”
“I'm just worried.” She sighed. “She's never spent this long away from us.”
“I know that, but I promise you that I would never let anything happen to her. And, if she ever wants to come home, it'll be no problem to fly back out here with her.”
Once April seemed to be as calm as she was going to get, Ryan spoke up, directing his attention to Calum. “I don't want her going to any of your rock concerts either.”
Calum glanced to Natalie, swallowing nervously before he answered him. “Uh, well, we actually don't start tour until next month.” He told him, his voice sounding much more relaxed than she had expected. “We're only doing rehearsals right now.”
“Are those as loud as the concerts?” April asked, her own nerves coming up again.
“Not at all.” He answered with a smile. “We usually keep the instruments on pretty low volume and there is no screaming crowd.”
“I've sat in on their rehearsals a few times, and it was nothing.” Natalie told her, pulling her attention from Calum back to herself. “But we don't have to take her to those. I'm sure she and I could find ways to entertain ourselves for a few hours.”
Natalie watched her pull her bottom lip between her teeth before turning to look at Ryan. “What do you think?” She asked him. “She likes watching those videos on YouTube. She would probably lose it if she could see it in person.”
“What videos?” Natalie asked.
“Videos of the bands concerts.”
Calum's face lit up at her answer.  “She watches our concerts?”
“Oh, yeah.” She said, smiling for the first time since she'd sat down. “She learned all the words to one of the songs just so she can scream the word underwear when she watches them.”
Natalie looked at Calum next to her, his smile was glowing and she couldn’t help but to smile along with him. Neither of them had any idea that she knew anything about the band, let alone that she watched them on YouTube and knew some of the lyrics. “I don’t think the guys would have a problem with her watching a rehearsal while she’s there.” He told them, his smile still covering his face. “It might be nice to try some of the new stuff in front of an unbiased audience.”
“Fine.” Ryan said. “Just don’t send her back with hearing damage.”
“Okay, so that’s a no to the three day heavy metal music festival, then?” They both shot Natalie a look, Ryan wasn’t amused, but April was. “Dude, I’m joking. The hardest we are going to get is whatever Radio Disney is bumping these days.”
Finally, a few hours later, both of them agreed that Natalie and Calum were as ready as they were going to get for the coming two weeks with her niece. April hugged them both as Ryan picked up his sleeping daughter from the couch. She opened her eyes just a little, rubbing at them with her small hand. “Goin’ to California, Daddy?” She asked quietly, already falling back to sleep on his shoulder.
“Almost, baby.” He whispered back to her before April shut the door behind them.
As Natalie and Calum tucked themselves into her parent’s spare bed a few minutes later, it was easy to see that something was off with him. “I don’t know,” He sighed when she asked him about it. “I just don’t know anything about six year old girls and I don’t want to, like, fuck this up or something.”
“You’re not going to fuck anything up.” She told him. “This is gonna be a great two weeks. Everyone just needs to relax.”
He kissed her forehead and wrapped his arm around her waist. “Yeah, you’re probably right.”
“I usually am.” She answered with a smirk.
“Goodnight, baby.” He told her with a giggle, placing a quick kiss to her lips before she rolled over in his arms.
The next morning went just about as well as Natalie had expected. Iris was ready to go hours before they had to leave, so Natalie was busy trying to keep her occupied so she wouldn’t keep asking if it was time to go yet every five minutes. Calum helped Ryan load all of her luggage into the trunk of his car, and she were sure that he was receiving another lecture from her brother in the process.
When it was finally time to leave, Iris was the first one in the car. She had her seatbelt fastened and was yelling out the opened back door of the car while Natalie, Calum, Ryan, and April filed out the front door. Natalie could almost see her shaking in her seat as Ryan drove to the airport. Her eyes nearly popped out of their sockets when he finally parked the car and they were able to collect the luggage from the trunk and head inside.
“Be good for your aunt Nat.” April told her, shedding a few tears as she hugged her daughter.
Ryan kneeled down to her level and put a hand on her shoulder. “No tattoos.” He said sternly.
“Just one?” She asked sweetly.
He smiled at her and pulled her into a hug. “Fine, one tattoo.” He said as he pulled away from her, shooting her a wink. He stood back up and handed her suitcase off to Calum.
“I want a phone call the second you land.” April told Natalie.
“Of course.” She answered. Natalie looked down to her niece, taking her hand in hers. “Ready, kid?”
“Yes!” She all but yelled. “I’ve been ready all day!” They all shared a laugh as she gave each of her parents one last hug. They made it about ten steps away from her parents before she turned around and waved goodbye one last time.
On the plane, Natalie and Calum sat on either side of Iris. She’d wanted the window seat, but Natalie wanted her to sleep before they got to California. The plane took off and Natalie could see the nerves all over her face. She took her hand and started to tell her all about the fun things they were going to do together, effectively distracting her. About twenty minutes into the flight, she leaned her head on Calum’s arm sleepily. He looked down at her for a moment before smiling up at Natalie.
Natalie pulled out a book from her purse and started to read while her niece napped and Calum played on his phone. She wasn't sure how long she'd been reading, but when she took a break and looked up, she swore her heart almost exploded. Her niece had fallen fast asleep against Calum, who in turn had his own head resting on his shoulder as he slept. Natalie snapped a quick photo on her phone, unable to pass up on documenting such an adorable moment.
Natalie shook both of them awake as the plane landed. Iris was still groggy as everyone started to make their way off of the plane. Natalie picked her up, but she was heavier than she had remembered.
“I’ll take her.” Calum said quietly, putting his hands out to her. “Grab the bags?” Natalie handed her off to him with a nod, smiling as she tucked herself into his shoulder.
She woke up fully by the time they made it to the lobby of the airport. Calum was still carrying her, making it a bit easier to navigate the crowds.
“This is California?” Iris asked, her eyes wide as she looked all around her.
They got out of the worst of the crowd and Calum giggled as he set her down. “This is just the airport, munchkin. Just wait until you see all the cool places on your list.”
Iris looked up at him, her eyes so full of excitement that it almost made Natalie want a kid of her own. Both she and Calum had decided that children weren't in the cards for them, but occasionally Iris would do something particularly cute and Natalie almost wanted to change her mind.
“Come on, peanut.” Natalie said, taking her niece's hand. “Let's head outside and call your mama while Calum gets your bags.”
Calum kissed her cheek quickly before taking a few steps from her. “I'll go ahead and call the car while I'm waiting. Get us out of here before someone sees me.”
“Sounds good. Meet ya out there?”
“Yeah.” He called back, already a few feet from them.
As they stepped through the doors of the airport, Natalie claimed a bench and unloaded their carry on bags in front of it as they sat down. She pulled out her phone and called April, who answered almost too quickly.
“Hello?” She said, sounding worried. “How is she? How was the flight? Is she okay?”
Natalie laughed and did her best to set her mind at ease. “She's great. Slept through most of the flight. Oh, I have the cutest picture I'm gonna send you when we hang up.” She told her, bringing a hand to her chest. “Anyway, here she is.” She told her as she handed the phone to Iris.
“Hi, mommy!” She said, her little voice loud with excitement. “Yeah, I did... California is so cool, mommy.”
She smiled to herself as she listened to her niece's half of the phone call. She stood from the bench, needing to stretch her legs as she gathered their bags and set them in her spot. She turned to the parking lot to watch for the car, stretching her arms above her head. She nearly jumped when she felt an arm wrap around her, followed by Calums quiet giggle behind her.
“Sorry, love.” He said, kissing her cheek. “Car should be here soon. How's the munchkin doin’?”
“Is it too late to get our money back from Disney?” She asked him, sparing a glance behind her before setting her eyes on the excited six year old girl beside her. Her hands were flying around as she told her mom everything that had happened, while she brushed her long, blonde hair from her eyes. “I think if we just take her around the airport she'll be fine.”
Just as Calum was about to speak up again, a sleek black car pulled to a stop in front of them. Calum loaded all of the bags into the trunk of the car while Iris hung up her phone call and handed the phone back to Natalie.
“We going to your house now?” She asked as they piled into the back seat.
“Yup.” Calum answered as he shut the door behind him and buckled her seatbelt for her. “You finally get to meet Duke.”
Her eyes got wide again as she turned to look at her aunt. “I get to meet Duke!?”
“Yeah,” she giggled.
“Oh, man. He's so cute.”
The trio spent the next three days exploring Disneyland together. On the first day, before they left the house, Natalie had given Iris a “special phone.”
“This is just for you.” She’d said as she handed her niece her old cell phone. “It can’t make calls, but you can take as many pictures as you want. And when we come back, I can help you send those pictures to your mama if you want.”
Iris took full advantage of having her very own phone to take her very own pictures. She made Natalie and Calum pose at various spots all over the park. “Okay, Aunt Nat, go stand next to Calum.” She instructed as the pair took their spots in front of The Haunted Mansion.
“Like this?” Natalie asked as she stood next to her boyfriend.
“Yeah.” She answered, looking through the camera on the phone. “Calum? Can you put your arm around Aunt Nat?”
Calum smiled and did as he was told, slipping his arm around Natalie’s waist. She turned into his side, placed her hand on his shoulder, and leaned her head down. “Perfect!” Iris cried as she snapped off a few shots of the smiling couple.
“Can I see?” Natalie asked as they walked back to join her niece. Iris handed her the phone and Natalie couldn’t stop smiling as she showed the picture to Calum. Iris was right, it was perfect. Even if it was shot from three feet from the ground, at an odd angle. “This might be my favorite one, peanut.” Natalie told her as she handed the phone back to her.
Iris also made all of the princesses and other characters that they met pose for her before she would let the Disneyland photographers take her pictures with them. Natalie made a mental note that they would have to bring her parents with them the next time they brought Iris to stay with them. She almost felt bad that they were missing out on seeing their daughter having this much fun.
The day after they got back to the house from Disneyland, everyone was a little exhausted. It was the first day of Calum’s tour rehearsals, and they decided to bring Iris along with them to the rehearsal space.
As Calum pulled into the parking lot, Natalie turned into her seat to face Iris in the back. “You might get to meet the rest of Calum’s band, if they’re here before we leave.”
Iris sat up straight, her brown eyes shining with excitement. “I get to meet them?”
Calum giggled and looked at her in the rearview mirror. He had loved seeing how excited she would get over the tiniest things that he took for granted daily. He put his car in park, taking a moment to appreciate the warm California sun as Natalie and Iris walked around the back of the car to join him.
“Ready to see your very first concert rehearsal space?” He asked as she came to stand next to him.
“Oh, yes.” She said, falling into step beside him as he led them inside.
When they opened the door, Ashton and Luke were already there. Luke had his back to the door, tuning his guitar while Ashton tightened a bolt on one of his cymbals.
“Cal’s here!” Ashton said loudly as the door closed behind them. “And he brought some pretty girls with him.”
Natalie looked down to Iris to see a bright red blush crawl across her niece’s cheeks. Luke turned to face them, offering all three of them a bright smile in turn before turning his attention back to the guitar in his hands. Ashton stood from behind his drums and walked over to the three of them. He fist bumped Calum and pulled Natalie into a quick hug, kissing her cheek lightly before kneeling down on one knee in front of Iris.
“Hello, sweetheart.” He said to her with a smile. He put one hand out to her, “I’m Ashton.”
Iris looked nervously to her aunt before placing her own small hand in his. “I’m Iris.” She told him, her voice small as she shook his hand.
“It’s nice to finally meet you.” He said as he let go of her hand, resting his own hands on his knee. “Your aunt talks about you all the time. How do you like California?”
“Oh, I love it!” She told him, putting a hand in front of her. Suddenly all of her nerves seemed to disappear as she told Ashton everything about her trip so far.
“And we went to Disneyland and I met all of the princesses!”
“All of them?” Ashton asked, leaning away from her as he feigned surprise. “Even Ariel?”
“Yup. And Rapunzel and Jasmine and Cinderella and all of them.”
“So cool. You’ll have to introduce me to your new royal friends sometime.” He said with a giggle.
“Okay! And Aunt Nat gave me a special phone so I could take my own pictures, too.”
“She did? Well, I just have to see those pictures.”
Natalie brushed some hair from Iris’s face before placing a hand on her shoulder. “Do you want to tell Ashton what you told us in the car, peanut?” Iris looked up to her for a moment, as if she were asking if it were okay. Natalie smiled at her warmly and nodded her head, pushing her to talk to him.
“Um…” She started, her gaze falling to the floor as her hands tangled in the front of her brand new Disneyland t-shirt as she attempted to push through her sudden shyness. She looked up from the carpet, back to Ashton who flashed her another million watt smile. “Well, I watch a lot of videos on YouTube of you guys.” Natalie squeezed her hand on her shoulder slightly, letting her know that it was okay to keep going. “And um… And I like watching you the best because you look the most fun and the drums look really cool and I like it when you um, when you hit those gold things? And it’s really loud and everyone gets really excited and I think it’s, um… It’s really fun.”
Ashton’s smile grew, his dimples showing as he listened to her. He glanced up to Natalie quickly, scrunching his nose at how adorable the little girl in front of him was. “Well, thank you.” He said. She smiled at him, starting to calm down from the rush of nerves that had overcome her just a few moments before. “Hey, you wanna play a little bit with me? I can show you how to hit those gold things and make it really loud.” Iris perked up visibly, looking up to Natalie with pleading eyes. She giggled and silently nodded to her, giving her permission.
Ashton stood up in front of her and put his hand out to her. Once again, she took it and allowed him to walk her to the back of his drum kit. He sat down on the stool before picking her up easily and placing her on his knees. “Okay, so these are my drumsticks.” He said, handing a pair to her.
“Drumsticks.” She repeated quietly, earning a small laugh from the room.
“Yeah,” Ashton said with a giggle, taking both of her hands in his. “So, you just take these and hit the drums.” He told her, moving their hands over his snares. He hit them a few times before letting go, gesturing for her to do the same. She was cautious as she hit them softly a few times. “Go ahead, hit them as hard as you want. I promise you won’t break them.” She smiled at him before turning back to the drums in front of her. She raised the sticks high above her head and brought both down at the same time, hitting the snares with everything she had. “Yeah!!” Ashton cheered, his hands gripping her sides as he shook her lightly. “Good job!”
Natalie, Calum, and Luke all started to applaud Iris on her newfound drumming skills. As they were applauding her, her face turning red at all the attention she was receiving, the door to the rehearsal space opened for the final time as Michael arrived. “Training your replacement, Ash?” He asked with a smile before greeting Natalie and Calum in the same way that Ashton had.
“Hey, watch it, Cliffo. She just told me that I’m her favorite.” Ashton called to him. “Alright, Iris, you ready to make some real noise?” He asked her, his voice suddenly sounding very serious.
She nodded, “Yeah!”
Michael giggled as he pulled his guitar from its case. He slung the strap over his shoulder and started to tune it, still paying attention to the scene playing out behind the drums. Luke had given up on tuning, instead resting both hands on his instrument as he watched Iris excitedly learning from Ashton.
“Alright, then.” Ashton told her, lifting her slightly as he stood from the stool. He placed her on top of it so that she was standing almost taller than he did. He stepped behind the stool and lifted it, moving it as close to the drums as he could. “These are my cymbals. They make those big, crash sounds that you like.” He told her, one arm around her waist while the other was extended, pointing toward the equipment. “What you gotta do is take your sticks and hit this one as hard as you can. You think you can do that?”
Iris looked down at the sticks in her hand, then up to the cymbal before turning her attention back to Ashton. “Yes.” She said with a final nod. “Is it gonna be really loud?”
“The harder you hit it, the louder it’ll be.”
Iris looked back to the cymbal, took a deep breath and stretched her body toward it. Ashton put both hands on her sides again, holding her up as she lifted the drumsticks over the cymbal. With another deep breath she lifted her sticks above her head and brought them down on the cymbal. Her eyes grew wide as she listened to the sound that it made. She grinned widely as she turned back to Ashton. He nodded his head, silently telling her to keep going. And that is exactly what she did. She started to hit the cymbal with one stick at a time, each hit getting louder and louder. Everyone in the room started to clap again, this time a chorus of cheers and howls accompanying the applause.
She finished her solo and turned back to Ashton. Her smile was wider and more bright than Natalie had ever seen it. She reached for Calum’s hand and linked her fingers with his. He gave her hand a light squeeze and smiled down at her. They both loved seeing their lives come together like this in front of them.
“Thank you for letting me play your drums.” Iris said as she offered the drumsticks back to Ashton.
He smiled and pushed them back toward her. “Why don’t you keep those? Like a gift, from me to you.”
Iris threw her arms around his neck happily. “Oh, thank you thank you!”
“Aw, you’re welcome, sweetheart.” He said as he hugged her. When she pulled away from him, he picked her up and set her back on the ground. She smiled up at him and waved before running back to join Natalie and Calum.
“That was so cool!” She said quietly to Natalie as soon as she was in front of her.
“Yeah, it was.” Natalie agreed, nodding her head to match her excitement. “Do you want to take a picture with Ashton to send to your mama?”
“Can I?”
“We’ll have to ask, but I’m sure he won’t mind.” Natalie nodded toward Ashton, who was moving his stool back to where it belonged and adjusting a few things on his kit. Iris clutched her drumsticks with both hands as they approached him. He smiled down to her as they got closer, resting his hands on his thighs as she asked him for a photo.
“I’d love that.” He answered, putting his hands out to her. She stepped closer to him and allowed him to lift her to sit on his knees once more. She held her drumsticks tightly to her chest as Ashton wrapped an arm around her waist. Natalie took the photo, both of their smiles wide as they posed for her.
The pair walked back to where Calum was still standing in front of the door. Calum put his hand on the small of Natalie’s back and leaned in to kiss her cheek. “You two heading out?”
“What do you say, kid? You wanna stay and watch or do you want to go to the mall with me?”
“Can we stay?” She asked. “Please?” She jutted out her bottom lip as she turned her attention to Calum. He smiled at her, she knew exactly how to work that fake pout just like her aunt did.
“Guys?” He asked, vaguely turning to his band. All three men smiled and nodded to them. “Looks like my favorite girls are hangin’ out then.” He said with a smile as he walked to join his band. He pulled his bass from its case and quickly tuned the instrument.
Watching the band perform was always something special. Whether it was a full arena show or just a rehearsal like this, they always put on a show. Natalie sat on a large armchair with Iris in her lap. Her hands wrapped around her niece as she happily watched them play their songs just for the two of them.
A few days later, Natalie and Calum took Iris shopping. She wanted to take souvenirs back home for her parents and all of her friends. They walked up and down the streets of LA, Iris holding Natalie’s hand as they made their way in and out of various shops.
Iris insisted on going into every single store that they passed. Natalie and Calum indulged her, walking through every store while she looked at everything, deciding if any of her friends needed anything they had to offer.
It was early afternoon when Calum suggested ice cream. He had hoped that a sweet treat would distract the excited six year old. It worked, to an extent. As soon as she finished her ice cream cone, she was ready to go again- this time with a bit of a sugar high to boot.
The three of them continued in and out of shops, Calum's hands growing full of bags as the afternoon went on. Just as they were walking out of a slightly upscale clothing store, they rounded a corner and Natalie heard Calum curse under his breath.
She looked up to him, her brows furrowing in confusion as she followed his eyes. A few yards ahead of them, she saw a group of about ten paparazzi with their cameras ready.
“Fucking leeches.” He grumbled.
“Cal, should we turn around?”
“Too late,” He answered, nodding in their direction. A few of them had spotted Calum and the whole group was migrating in their direction. “Take these.” He said, shoving the shopping bags into Natalie's hands.
He stopped briefly, crouching down to Iris's level to scoop her up into his arms. He situated her on his hip and took off the black  baseball cap that he was wearing, putting on her head and pulling it low over her face to cover her eyes. Iris tucked her face into his shoulder, wrapping her arms around his neck.
“Don't say anything.” He told Natalie as he took her hand in his. “Don't answer any of their questions, don't interact at all.” He said, looking down to her. “Just walk and eventually they'll get tired and leave us alone.”
Natalie nodded, swallowing a lump in her throat as the paparazzi started to surround them. One particularly rude man started screaming into her ear, causing her to move tighter into Calums side as they walked.
Calum pulled his hand from Natalie's quickly. When she looked to him to question why, she saw that he had put his hand on her niece's back, cradling her small frame in his large hands. She smiled to herself when she noticed that his lips were moving against Iris's ear. She couldn't hear what he was saying, but he was smiling. She hoped that Iris was remaining calm.
“Can you just give us a little room, guys?” Calum asked loudy, pulling his face away from Iris's ear. “Don't wanna drop my niece.”
The paparazzi near Calum complied, stepping away from him as they continued to flash lights in his face. Natalie didn't fare so well. It seemed as though they were purposely getting closer, their yells getting louder in her ears and their flashes getting brighter in her eyes as she wrapped her arm around her boyfriend's bicep. The fingers of her other hand began to hurt as she gripped their shopping bags so tightly that her knuckles turned white.
She kept her head straight, fighting her internal urge to stare at the ground until they were away from the mob. She glanced up to find that Iris was still clinging to Calum, while his hand had started to rub her back. Natalie smiled to herself as she watched for a moment. That was exactly what Calum did for her when she would get stressed or anxious. He'd lay her against his chest, rub her back, and whisper to her that everything would be okay.
Paparazzi began to drop off one by one as they kept walking down the sidewalk. Within a few minutes, they were all gone. A few huddled together on the side of the road, showing their cameras to each other as they compared pictures. Natalie removed her hand from Calum's bicep, no longer needing to feel him as close as possible.
“Think it's time to head home.” Calum told her quietly. His hand was still on Iris's shoulders, holding her close to his chest.
“Definitely.” Natalie agreed with a nod. She put her hand into Calums front pocket, pulling out his car keys as they approached his car. She hit two buttons, popping the trunk as she unlocked the doors.
Calum walked to the backseat of the car, opening the door before setting Iris in the seat. Her legs hung out the door, over the edge of the seat as Calum crouched in front of her.
“Ya okay, munchkin?” He asked quietly. Natalie shut the door of the trunk after putting their shopping bags into it. She looked at the two of them, her heart dropped when she saw Calums hand cupping her cheek, his thumb seemed to be wiping away tears.
“'M not a munchkin.” Iris answered between pitiful sounding sniffles.
“You're right, you're not a munchkin.” He told her with a smile. “I'm sorry. I'll stop callin’ ya that.” He moved his hand to the back of her head and placed a kiss to her forehead.
Calum stood as Iris moved to sit properly in her seat. He helped her to buckle her seatbelt before joining Natalie in the front seat. He let out a deep sigh as he took his spot behind the wheel. Natalie reached over the center console and silently took Calum's hand in hers. He gave her a small smile before bringing their linked hands to his lips. His lips lingered on the back of her hand for a moment, his eyes closing as he took a deep breath through his nose.
The drive back to the house was silent. Nobody made a sound, other than the Top 40 hits that played quietly from the radio. Natalie texted April, filling her in on the incident and promising to have Iris call her the second they walked into their house. Calum was tense as he drove. It was clear to Natalie just in the grip that he had on her hand.
When they walked in the front door, Natalie and Iris went straight into the guest bedroom. Calum grabbed his pack of cigarettes from the kitchen counter and went to the back patio. He lit his first cigarette as he sat down on the steps of the patio. He rested his arms on his knees, the cigarette hanging from his fingers as he dropped his chin to his chest.
He kept replaying the entire scene over and over again in his mind. The tightness in his chest when he first saw the group of rabid photographers. The anger that bubbled in his blood when they'd swarmed around the three of them. The way that Iris's shoulders shook against his chest as she started to cry, the noise and attention too much for her to handle. It was moments exactly like that that almost made Calum regret being in the band. He loved what he did, but sometimes it go to be just too much.
He heard the glass door behind him slide open when he was just about half done with a second cigarette. Natalie glanced at the ashtray next to him as she stepped closer to him. She wasn't surprised to see a cigarette butt already in it. Calum had been trying to quit, but stress was always a trigger for him to light up again.
Natalie sat beside him on the step and plucked the cigarette from between his fingers. She took a drag, held the smoke in her lungs for a moment, and exhaled into the slight breeze that was blowing around them. She held the cigarette out, offering it back to Calum. He took it from her and she leaned her head into his shoulder with a sigh.
“How is she?” He finally asked, breaking the silence that had fallen over them.
“She thinks that you're mad at her.”
Calum pulled away from Natalie quickly. “What? Why would she think that?”
“She said she cried on your shirt.”
“Yeah, a little. But I'm not mad at her for it.”
“I know that, baby.” Natalie told him calmly as he put his second cigarette out in the ashtray. “But she's little and she's scared.”
“Should I go talk to her?”
“Not right now. She's on the phone with her mom and snuggling Duke.” She answered as she leaned back into him, grabbing his hand and intertwining their fingers once again. “I told her we'd be out here and to come find us when she was ready. She'll be okay, she just needs to calm down.”
Calum turned his face slightly to rest on the crown of her head. He moved his free hand across his body to rest on her arm. “I just feel like shit that I let that happen.” He sighed into her hair.
“You didn't let anything happen. You didn't know that they'd out there today. You didn't do anything wrong. What you did do was hold that little girl in your arms and try to make her feel safe. That's what counts.”
There was a moment of silence between them. Both of them just silently going over their own thoughts before Natalie spoke up again.
“What did you say to her anyway?” She asked. Calum pulled his face away from her and looked down at her confused. “When you put your hand on her back. I looked up and I thought I saw you whispering to her.”
“Oh,” Calum smiled down to his feet. He reached to his almost empty pack of cigarettes and pulled one out, lighting it before he continued. “When she started crying, I swear my heart fuckin’ dropped, Nat. It was just the most pitiful little sound I've ever heard.” He paused briefly as he took a drag from his cigarette. “So, I tried to distract her. I asked her about her favorite parts about Disneyland. And what else she wanted to do before she went home. And when that didn't work I just told her to hug me and only pay attention to me and my voice. Told her that the other people didn't matter and if she just focused on me then they'd go away.”
Natalie felt a few tears come to her eyes as she listened to him. He really did love Iris almost as much as she did. It made her heart swell to think about.
“You're so good to her.” She said. “And to me. Thank you.”
“Don't thank me,” He told her with a giggle. He took one last draw from the cigarette in his hand before putting it out. “I just hated hearing her cry like that.”
“I know the feeling. The first time they dropped me off at the airport when I moved to LA, I almost didn't go through with it because those little tears almost got to me” She laughed.
Calum giggled, “'S enough to break your heart.”
They both turned when they heard the glass door slide open again. Iris slowly slipped through it, Duke on her heels as she tiptoed to her aunt. Natalie put an arm around her back as she put her lips to her ear.
“Will you tell Calum I'm sorry I cried on him?” She whispered.
Natalie pulled away from her, her arm still around her as she looked into her red rimmed eyes. “I will if you really want me to, but I think it would be better if you tell him yourself.” Iris looked unsure, a trace of fear in her eyes until Natalie nodded her head.
Iris turned away from Natalie to face Calum. She took a deep breath before timidly speaking up. “Um… Calum?”
“What's up?” He asked.
“Um… Uh… I just…” She balled her hands into the front of her shirt. It was a nervous habit that she had. “I'm sorry I cried on you and got your shirt wet.”
“It's okay,” He told her. “I'm not mad. And it's already dry anyway, see?” He gestured to his shoulder. Iris reached across his chest to touch the area of his shirt where she'd cried. Calum moved his shoulder closer to her until her small hand connected with his shoulder. He looked down to her hand and back up to her face as she felt the dry material.
“You promise you're not mad?” She asked shyly, looking up to his eyes.
“I promise.” He answered her with a smile.
Natalie smiled to herself as she watched her niece move to sit in Calum's lap. Her legs crossed over his thighs and he wrapped both arms around her. She laid her head against his chest.
“Calum, are you my uncle?” She asked him quietly.
He glanced to Natalie, who simply shrugged her shoulders with a smile. “Do you want me to be?” He asked her. She nodded silently into his chest. “Well, then I guess I'm your uncle.”
Iris looked up at him, a smile coming to her face for the first time. “You're my uncle and I'm your munchkin, right?”
Calum giggled and hugged her a little tighter. “Yeah, you're my munchkin.”
“You gonna marry aunt Nat?” The sudden question knocked the wind out of both Natalie and Calum, who exchanged a nervous look.
“Why don't we leave the boys out here and go whip up some food, kid?” Natalie said, just a little too loudly and she scooped her niece into her arms. “I'll teach ya how to make the best spaghetti ever.”
Later that night, Calum was lying in bed, his back against the headboard while Natalie changed into pajamas. “I am gonna marry you, ya know.”
Natalie smiled to him as she pulled a pair of sleep shorts up her legs. “Is that so?”
“Yup.”
“What if I don't want to marry you?” She asked with a smirk as she slid under the covers next to him.
“Baby, you've seen my dick and met my parents. You're stuck with me forever.”
She laughed, placing a hand on his cheek gently. “I can't argue with that.” She told him, moving her lips to his.
Natalie settled into Calums side, running her fingertips over his chest as he wrapped an arm around her shoulders. “The munchkin can be the flower girl. Baby Grandpa in a little tux.” He sighed, his free arm coming up to rest behind his head.
The pair spent the next few hours, tangled up in each other and exchanging quiet giggles so they wouldn't wake Iris. They brainstormed wedding ideas, and Natalie sighed sleepily into his chest, before yawning loudly.
“'S gonna be the best wedding ever.” She told him with a smile.
“Hell yeah it is.”
“Soon?”
“Soon enough.” He agreed. “But for now, we need some sleep. Got an excited six year old across the hall that wakes up earlier than the sun.” He laughed, kissing Natalie's hair. Soon they were both asleep, but only Calum had fallen asleep thinking about the small amethyst ring whose box was burning a hole in the bottom of his bedside table drawer.
He was going to marry her, after all.

Ashton’s eyes flash over to Calum for what seems like the thousandth time. Calum was lying back on the couch, his bass in hand as he lazily attempts to come up with his part for their newest WIP.
Ashton just couldn’t seem to focus on his work today. He wasn’t sure what it was but Calum was stealing all of his attention.
“Cal,” he calls over finally, his boyfriend looks at him questioningly, as does Luke and Michael. Ashton swallows trying to find what to say. “Uh— do you think you could help me with something real quick?” he asks, mouth going dry, and Calum raises an eyebrow, a playful smirk appearing on his lips.
“Sure,” Calum chuckles and sits up. Everyone looks at Ashton questioningly and he’s quick to figure himself out.
“It’s not related to the song, I just need to figure out what I’m doing for Eve for our anniversary coming up…” he says, “I have a couple ideas but can you help me real quick?”
Calum holds back a laugh, Ashton already had figured out what he was doing for his and Eve’s anniversary, him and Calum had stayed up all night a few weeks ago planning a short trip to the mountains, just the three of them, and they’d even went as far as to plan a fake trip for Calum so it wasn’t suspicious to anyone.
“Yeah but let’s not bother them,” Calum says and stands up, stretching his arms over his head and Ashton’s eyes flash to the section of Calum’s stomach and hip that’s revealed when his shirt rises.
Ashton leads the way out of the studio, Luke and Michael both awkwardly laughing in confusion as the two leave, and as soon as their out Calum turns to his boyfriend, eyes crinkling as he smiles.
“You’re so full of shit, you know that?“ he asks and leads them into the family bathroom, locking the door behind them.
“Im sorry but you just look so good today,” Ashton smirks, his hands gluing themselves to Calum’s arms that are exposed by his ripped muscle tee. Calum bites his lip and leans against the sink as Ashton pushes into him and connects their lips.
Their relationship had been official for almost a year. It started as a hookup, Ashton and his partner Eve had invited Calum over to hang out one night, as they did many times. After one too many drinks and some heavy flirting from the couple who (little to Calum’s knowledge) had discussed a threesome with Calum many times, Calum found himself in their bed, making out with both of them.
It took four more hookups for them to decide that they liked each other more than just friends with benefits and so their relationship began.
Calum’s hands sneak under Ashton’s shirt, holding onto his sides as he deepens the kiss and he lightly grinds up against his boyfriend who pulls away and smirks.
“How long do you think we have before they look for us?” Ashton asks, glancing at the closed door and Calum smiles, slowly sinking to his knees in front of him.
“Long enough for me to blow you,” he says, and Ashton lets out a shaky breath and switches their places so he can grip onto the sink for stability as Calum unzips his pants and pulls him out.
Calum quickly gets to work. His mouth wrapping around Ashton as he bobs his head and sucks lightly. He opens his eyes and looks up at the man who groans when he sees him.
Ashton reaches down to softly run his fingers through Calum’s hair, and when the man on his knees relaxes his throat to get Ashton down as far as he can, Ashton’s grip tightens as he lightly pulls and Calum moans, the vibrations rushing up Ashton.
“Cal–“ he moans, “I’m gonna…” He cuts himself off with a soft groan when Calum speeds up, wrapping his hand around the base of his older man’s cock as he focuses on the tip.
Ashton’s grip tightens once again when he releases, Head falling back and a groan leaving his mouth. Calum swallows his load and sits back his legs to catch his breath. Ashton does the same while leaning against the sink and when he finally recovers he reaches down to fix his boyfriend’s hair and help him up.
“You okay?” he asks, while pulling him in for a hug. Calum nods, leaning his head on Ashton’s shoulder for a moment before pulling away.
Ashton looks between them at Calum cock straining against his jeans and chuckles. “Want me to help?” he asks and Calum shakes his head,
“We need to get back in there,” he says, “Maybe you’ll be able to focus on the song now,” his teasing grin makes Ashton roll his eyes.
“I’ll make it up to you tonight, okay?” he cups Calum’s face and Calum smiles and nods, he knows Ashton means it, and he also knows that means Eve will be there as well.
Ashton goes back first. “Calum stopped at the restroom,” he says and sits back down.
“Did you figure out the present?” Luke asks and Ashton nods,
“Yeah, I think i’m taking them on a trip,” Ashton says, “Now i just need to figure out when,”
Calum walks back in, sending Ashton a teasing grin before he sits down,
“Cal said he’s planning on going on a small trip the week of our anniversary so we might go then so that’s only a week we’re not all together,”
Luke and Michael both nod in agreement and the room goes back to silence, the only noise being their instruments and Luke’s occasional hum.
——
Calum walks into the house first. He rubs his face as he enters, a smile filling his face when Duke runs over to him. “hey bubba,” he smiles and falls to his knees to pet his dog.
Eve hears the door open and hurries down the stairs to find their boyfriends. “hey!” they smile and Calum stands up to catch them in a hug.
“You have a long day today?” Eve asks and Calum nods with a small chuckle.
“Ask our boyfriend what we did today,” he says and as if on cue, Ashton walks in. Eve looks at their other boyfriend who raises an eyebrow,
“What?” he asks, eyes flashing to Calum, and Calum smirks.
“What did you guys do today?” Eve asks, completely lost as their boyfriends exchange a look and the tension in the room builds.
“Ash was being horny all day,” Calum chuckles, “made up an excuse for us to leave the studio so i could blow him,”
Eve laughs, looking at Ashton who just smiles at the acquisition and surrenders his hands in the air.
“I mean look at him,” he motions to Calum, “how am i supposed to focus on my work when this fucking god is sitting next to me,”
Calum blushes, and Eve just giggles. “So did you return the favor, Ash?” they ask and Ashton smirks,
“No, i was wanting some help with that,” he walks past his partners and into the kitchen where he gets a cup of water. Caulk steps back to admire Eve.
They were only wearing one of Calum’s oversized shirts, and he would bet on them not wearing shorts under it, they never were. His hand find their waist and they take a breath.
“You’re gonna be good for me?” he asks but it’s more of a command, Eve nods, eyes wide and innocent. Ashton watches them, and finally speaks up when they just stare at each other for a moment too long.
“What do you want, Cal?” he asks from across the room, and the man swallows as he processes the question in his head. His eyes flash to Ashton as he licks his lips.
“I wanna go to our room,” he says and Ashton nods, motioning for him to go, which he does after grabbing Eve’s hand to drag them along.
Ashton’s always in charge, even if he’s not actively taking part in the moment. Calum doesn’t always admit it, matter of fact it’s one of the biggest things him and Ashton tease each other over, but when it comes down to it, Calum needs Ashton to lead him and Ashton is happy to do it.
Ashton follows them upstairs and smiles when he sees Calum with Eve pinned under him. His lips are on their neck and their eyes are closed as Calum leaves a few marks.
Ashton watches them as he sheds his shirt and climbs onto the bed. He sits up on his knees and lets his hand wander under Calum’s shirt. he gently scrapes his nails on the man’s hot skin and Calum slowly sits up, letting Ashton take off his shirt before connecting their lips.
Eve opens their eyes to watch their boyfriends slowly make out. Ashton’s hand goes down Calum’s pants and gropes him, making the younger man moan into his mouth.
“Tonight’s all about you, baby boy,” Ashton says as he pulls away. Calum would normally pretend to hate the pet name, but he doesn’t fight it as he turns back to Eve and tug at their shirt before helping them sit up and take it off.
His eyes fall to look at the skinny silver bars going through their nipples, he bites his lips, that’s one thing he’ll never get tired of seeing.
His hands slowly trail down their body until they reach the band of their panties and he slowly takes them off, sliding them down their legs before getting between them. He smirks up at them after kissing their thighs, lips ghosting over where they need him the most.
Calum’s knows he’s good with his mouth. No matter what he knows that he can never let anyone down with head, and it’s just a bonus that he enjoys it.
Ashton sits back to watch as Calum dives in. Eve’s head rolls back and they moan out, hand shooting to the man’s hair.
After a moment they open their eyes and they make contact with Ashton who palms himself through his pants. “Tell Calum that he’s making you feel good,” Ashton demands, and Calum looks up at Eve as he slows.
“Fuck Cal,” Eve moans, “You feel so good, i’m gonna cum,”
Calum smirks as pulls up for just long enough to mumble, “want you to come on my tongue,” and he goes back in.
It’s not long before they are. They let out a loud moan of Calum’s name as they cum, eyes squeezing shut and toes curling. Calum continues to eat them out, waiting until they’re flinching at his touch before pulling away.
He sits up, out of breath and Ashton connects their lips again. He moans at the taste of Eve in Calum’s lips and reaches down to slowly stroke Calum.
“How do you want to get off?” he asks, and Calum glances at Eve.
“Can you handle me fucking you, baby?” he asks, and Eve nods quickly, eyes desperate.
“Please,” they beg and Calum turns to Ashton.
“Can i help you out?” he asks and Ashton rolls his eyes,
“Stop worrying about me,” he chuckles, “i what to see you cum in them,”
Ashton doesn’t have to ask twice and Calum is stripping off his pants and lining himself up with Eve, slowly pushing in.
Ashton takes off his own pants before stroking himself. He paces himself at Calum’s speed as he watches.
Calum moans when Eve tightens around him as he bottoms out. He leans forward, keeping himself propped up with his hands on either side of his partner. He connects their lips, taking advantage of their moans to explore they’re mouth. He doesn’t take long to feel his climax nearing and he quickens his pace.
“–gonna,” he’s cut off by his own pants and soon his releasing into Eve. He rests his head on their chest as he stills, breaths heavy as he recovers for a moment before pulling out.
Calum falls to the side just in time to watch Ashton cum into his hand and he smiles goofily.
Eve rolls over to cuddle into their boyfriend and Calum happily pulls them into his chest. Ashton goes into the connected bathroom and come back with a couple wash cloths for them to clean up.
“I need a smoke,” Calum mumbles to his partners after he’s cleaned up and puts on a pair of pajama pants,
He reaches into his jeans from earlier to pull out his pack of cigarettes and lighter. Ashton kisses his forehead as he passes by. “I can start on dinner,” he says and Eve lies in bed watching them.
“I’ll find a movie?” they suggest and Calum smirks,
“Pack a blunt for us?” he asks and they happily nod watching as their boyfriends leave the room.
Calum walks outside to the front porch and sits on the steps before lighting the smoke. He breathes in the nicotine and closes his eyes to enjoy the burn in his lungs.
“Calum?” the voice snaps him out of his head and he opens his eyes to see Michael. The blond haired man looks at him confused.
“Why’re you here?” he asks and Calum stutters,
“Uh– I’m just– Um Ash invited me over to go over a few other things,” he curses himself for the poor excuse as he stares at his friend. He takes a moment to look down at himself. His shirtless chest, and baggy pajamas pants, it’s obvious he’s not just hanging out.
Michael just stares at him, “What?” he asks as if he didn’t hear what he said and the front door opens, Ashton walking out looking in the same condition as Calum.
“Babe–“ Ashton starts but he freezes when he sees Michael and his heart drops.
His eyes flash to his boyfriend who looks like he’s about to cry as his cigarette burns out in his hand.
“What is happening?” Michael asks and Ashton sighs, opening the door wider,
“Just come in,” he says, defeated and Calum stands up as well, putting out his cigarette he barely smoke to follow them inside.
Eve is on the couch, a mango zipzag in hand doing as they were told. Their eyes go wide when they see Michael and quickly grabs the blanket on the back on the couch to make sure they’re covered since they’re only wearing Ashton’s shirt he had on earlier.
“You guys are having a smoke session together?” Michael asks confused and Calum bites his lips trying to figure out if they should lie or not as he glances over at Ashton,
“Maybe we should call Luke?” Ashton suggest and Michael nods his head slowly as he tries to connect the dots.
——
“A year!?” Luke shouts and Calum chuckles awkwardly, “You’ve hid this for a year? Did you think we’d be mad?”
“We didn’t want you to think it’d affect the band,” Ashton tries to explain. Michael’s eyes bounce between the three of them before he shakes his head,
“How did you manage to keep it secret?” he asks finally,
“Lots of make out sessions in bathrooms,” Calum says and Ashton elbows him as the younger man laughs.
Michael raises an eyebrow, “So today….” he trails off and Ashton nods,
“Yeah…” he chuckles awkwardly.
“I wish you would of told us!” Luke sighs, “We’ve been teasing Calum for months when he shows up late with new hickies and sex hair, we would’ve made fun of you too if we knew you were part of that,”
Ashton rolls his eyes and glances at his boyfriend. Michael shakes his head in disbelief. “I’m happy for you,” he finally says and Luke nods in agreement.
They share a laugh before silence falls between them so they can take in the information.
“Wait,” Luke says, “Wildflower about this fucker?” he motions to Ashton and Calum’s cheeks turn red as he looks away.
“Oh my god!” Michael yells and they laugh harder as they continue to connect the dots for their relationship and how they’ve hid it for a year.

Hi Everyone! Sorry I haven’t updated in a little while but I hope this makes up for it, it’s a tad long but I figured a slight story to it would be nice? I hope so.
Luke Hemmings was an enigma.
A beautiful and daunting enigma that made your thighs push together and head dizzy.
Your heart beating faster with every look of his pretty blue eyes.
Every time you tried to avoid him, both his presence and the mere thought in your mind, he would creep through the shadows and wrap you up in his darkness.
Though deep down, you didn’t care. In fact, you absolutely adored it, adored him. You loved him.
And interestingly enough, he felt the same way. He was utterly and completely in love with you even though it took both his stupid ego and broken pieces to stitch together the truth.
The innocence and power you held over him was almost pathetic, but he could care less anymore.
But unfortunately for him, he’d fucked up.
After harsh words that sliced through your heart from the last encounter you two had, that being 9 months ago, he’d stupidly let you walk out the door.
Now, all he felt was regret and anger as he held the wedding invitation he stole from your friends mailbox between his fingers.
The title reading, “Your invited to Y/N and Mark’s wedding!” In curvy scripture, both your signatures at the bottom alongside the date and time.
Throwing the invitation to the ground and pulling out his gun, he shot bullets through it until he couldn’t see it anymore and only small white ripped pieces of paper were left.
Upon hearing the gun shots, Michael, Calum and Ashton bursted through his office door, guns in their hands and ready for action. Fully prepared for another casual shoot out with another gang attempting to kill their boss. It was like nothing to them at this point.
However, instead of seeing dead bodies piled around Luke’s office and their leader ready to be killed by Luke before they could question him further, they found him standing there furious and alone.
“Dude what the fuck we thought something was wrong”
“Yea what are you shooting at?”
“God I hope you didn’t kill anyone downstairs”-
“Shut the fuck up!” He shouted while putting his gun back in its hostler and ran his fingers through his golden hair.
“We have a new mission this weekend boys” He spoke as he wrote down the location he memorized and handed it to Calum.
“Thirteenth chapel in San Fransisco?” He read off.
“What’s in San Francisco?” Michael looked up.
Folding his arms together as he walked towards the balcony overlooking Los Angeles, the bright scenery in no comparison to the burning in his heart as he spoke out, “Y/N”.
Shocked overtook their faces when hearing your name, but before they could interject Luke turned towards them, a smirk now overlaying his features as he took his lip ring between his teeth.
“Get your ties and suits together boys, we have a wedding to crash”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Truth be told, and as bad as it sounded, you didn’t want to marry Mark.
After 3 months of wallowing in misery from what happened between you and Luke, your mothers friend Betty introduced you to her son Mark and he became became the new man in your life. Though unbeknownst to you, he wasn’t a good person and cheated on you multiple times than could be counted.
However, through his sickeningly sweet persona and fake attitude, it appeared that he was someone who led you out the rain clouds Luke had left you in.
But you didn’t love him, and everything was happening so fast.
His and your mother threw a party one day, after you and Mark had been seeing each other for 6 months. It turned out to be an engagement party, even though no proposal had been made. Between all the congratulations and smiling faces, you didn’t say no.
They began the talk of what your future would hold; stability. Something Luke never mentioned to give you, despite him thinking of it 24/7, a future with the two of you in it. Even a baby, that he pictured would have your hair and maybe his eyes. A big house, and only love following along until death did you part. But he was scared, and didn’t tell you sooner.
Now at the church, looking in the full length mirror, your gown hugged your curves and the white color contrasted your skin perfectly. This was suppose to be a happy occasion, but inside you felt nothing. Nothing but numbness.
“I knew you’d look beautiful sweetheart but god damn”
The familiar husky voice of none other than Luke Hemmings filled the small room sending a shiver down your spine.
Taking a deep breathe to hold your composure, you looked up at him.
There he was, in all in his glory, really in front of you. Classed in a red suit that contrasted with his black shirt underneath that was unbuttoned, showing a thick chain around his neck. His nails were painted red to match, silver thick rings wrapped around his fingers.
“What are you doing here?” You questioned quietly as you could since your family and other guest were just outside.
“Honey, did you really think I’d let you get married to someone that isn’t me?” He laughed as he took a step closer to you with each word until your back hit the wall behind you.
“You can’t do this to me, not now. Don’t you remember? What you said-“
Grasping your jaw in his hand making you stop speaking, your chin lifted as he made you look him in the eyes. He wanted you to see the sincerity and not just hear it.
“Please just forget about what I said, I was wrong. I was so fucking wrong baby, and all these months all I could think about was you. I’m so sorry. I hurt you, I know I did. I was a coward and an idiot for letting you walk away but fuck I am not letting you go. Not like this, your mine. I love you so much angel” He thumb rubbed at your bottom lip, the soft pink flesh bouncing back as he let it go and looked at your delicate face. “Just let me live the rest of my life loving you and I promise I’ll give you everything that you need”
Tears pooled in your eyes. He was telling the truth, if there was one thing he never was to you was a liar.
Nodding your head, he sighed and pressed his mouth to yours kissing you.
Before you knew it his tongue pushed past your lips as his large hands grasped your waist and guided you closer to the wall.
You moaned into his mouth and wandered your fingers up into his hair gripping it.
“Looking so pretty in this gown baby, gonna marry you in it instead of that bastard” He dipped his head down and kissed at your neck, leaving soft bruises into your skin.
“L-Luke” You whimpered as he pushed the straps of your dress off your shoulders and it pooled underneath your chest, letting your breasts free out the confines.
“Who’d he think he was huh?” He grunted as he grasped your tits and sucked at your right nipple, lapping the bud with his tongue and watching your head tilt back as he smirked.
“Trying to marry my girl, I’ll show everybody who’s girl you are right now” He pressed as one of his hands pushed underneath your skirt and into your panties. His mouthed continued to suck at your breasts, moving back and forth between each nub and sucking harder each time.
His thumb went into your pussy, gathering the wetness that began to pool when he kissed you the first time. Then he pulled it out before you could complain and rubbed at your swollen clit harshly.
You bit your bottom lip to hold in any noise, but Luke had other plans as he leaned up and kissed you, pulling your lip out from between your teeth.
Looking down at you with lustful blue eyes, he said “Don’t you dare hide your sounds, I wanna hear you.
“Please don’t tease me” You begged, it’d been so long since you felt this much pleasure and only he could make you feel this way.
“I won’t, I’m gonna give you everything you need and more” He smirked.
Lifting you up, he sat you down on a nearby table then got down on his knees in front of you.
Taking a knife out his front pocket, he cut right down the middle of your gown making a nice curtain space for his head to slip between your thighs.
His lips nipped at the inside of your legs, up and up as he grasped them in his hands. Taking the edge of the knife, he guided it along with his mouth, and cut the band of your underwear that settled at your side making it fall down.
Quickly, Luke pushed his face between your thighs and sucked at your clit making you cry out.
Mumbling against your center, he said “hold onto my hair baby” and you did. Grasping his pretty locks in your hands as he drunk at your wetness.
“Taste so fucking good, your so wet for me too huh? Can’t wait to fuck you” He swore before dipping his tongue in and out of you.
His words made you wetter, thinking about him above you and thrusting in and out. His head tilted back and taking you while everyone waited for you walk down the aisle, but instead you were being fucked down the hallway.
Pulling your thighs apart more he lifted them onto his shoulders to give you stability and moved his hands up as he held your breasts in his hands as he ate you out.
Your back arched, “O-oh Luke” You whined out.
Luke groaned into your pussy as you said his name, he rubbed at your nipples with his fingers stimulating your orgasm. His cock was aching, it’s been so long since he had you and now that he was he was on cloud nine. Images flashed his mind of the many positions he wanted to get you into, bent over, riding him, face down, anything and everything. He loved making you feel good, especially how beautiful you looked as he did so.
Grinding your hips into his mouth, you tugged at the ends of his hair as he harshly sucked at your clit one last time before you exploded.
Whimpers escaped your pouty lips, eyes fluttering shut as your head fell down while you finished.
But before you could gather yourself, you felt Luke’s presence standing above you as he lifted your head up by your chin.
“Ready for me baby?” He kissed your nose with a cocky smile, showing off his straight white teeth.
“Mhmm” You let out as best you could, your previous orgasm still settling beneath you.
Luke hand made home again between your thighs, taking no second more as his pointer and middle finger pushed in and the out of you. Your favorite ring of his brushed your clit just slightly making you moan as you grasped his suit jacket.
“Words angel, I need you tell me what you want” He smiled watching you fall apart all over again. His other hand wrapped around your throat, providing a slight pressure making you gasp out as he guided you into him.
“Please fuck me Lu, need your cock so bad” You spread your legs as you looked up at him fully this time.
“Such a slut for me baby, begging me to fuck you with everyone outside. I love you so much” He kissed you again as he undid his trousers.
“I love you more” You panted as you both pulled away and started leaving kisses at his jaw and neck, sucking your own marks onto his skin.
The big bad mafia boss blushed slightly at your words and the way you sweetly kissed him, even when he was about to fuck your brains out.
Shaking his head, he pulled you to your feet and turned you around making you lean over the table and face the large mirror that displayed in front you both.
Grasping your hair in one hand, he made you look at him through the reflection and groped at your breasts with his other.
“Watch how pretty you look when I fuck you” He whispered into your ear and lifted your gown from behind you, displaying your ass in front of him.
Biting his lip ring, he slapped your right cheek hard making you moan and raise your ass towards him more.
“Such” Spank
“A fucking ” Spank
“Good Girl” Spank
His rings left marks on each of your cheeks making both of you flush.
Before you could beg any further Luke guided his tip to your entrance and shoved his cock into you making you double over slightly into the table.
His brows furrowed as he bit his lip and titled his head back, Adam’s apple bobbing in his throat as he took your hips in his hands, pelvis hitting against your ass as he fucked you.
“Luke!“ You moaned out, not caring if anyone heard you at this point.
“Yea that’s it, say my name while I fuck this sweet pussy of yours” He moans back feeling your wet walls wrap around him.
He couldn’t stop himself from gripping your waist harder, guiding you back and forth onto his cock as you took him.
The table began moving further up the floor from its originally position, closer to the mirror and helping you watch as Luke fucked you from behind.
Your hair was a mess, purple and pink marks from his mouth adorned your neck, your bridal gown ripped and torn in different places. But despite all that, you never looked better and he  loved it.
Your moans became louder and higher in pitch, feeling his cock hit your g-spot repeatedly as a strangled cry left your lips.
Luke pulled out of you completely and slammed back into you, the feeling of you stretching around his cock making him whimper in response and his head hung low watching as he filled your pussy just right.
“Fucking hell baby” He grunted lowly and plunged deeply into you as he spanked your ass again, “God, you feel so fucking good” He said shakily into your neck.
Now pressing into your back he held your tits in his large hands to stable himself now and rutted into your ass harder.
“Just made for my cock aren’t you sweetie? All mine aren’t you?” He purred making you let out small whimpers of “uh, uh, uhs” each time he pushed in and out of you.
“Luke” You said breathlessly feeling his mouth suck onto your neck again while making eye contact with you in the mirror, watching as he surrounded you like a devil from behind.
Feeling how close the both of you were, Luke mercilessly fucked you faster against the table, “Goddamit” He cried tossing his head back alongside you and began rubbing at your clit.
Your ass bounced against his hips as he spread your thighs more, ramming into your heat roughly.
“Oh fuck” He groaned feeling you clench tightly around him as you came triggering his own release and filling you up to the hilt.
Moaning out each others names as you came together, Luke leisurely slowed down his pace until he pulled out.
A moment passed and now there you both stood, starring at each other in adoration from the aftermath of what just fell between you both.
Luke’s gathered your face in his hands and kissed your lips for the hundredth time making you giggle.
“Now baby, let’s go find you a new dress” He took your hand and guided you both out the door, seeing the shocked faces of your family and Mark as you left the chapel.
Michael, Calum and Ashton followed behind and asked a million questions.
But all you could do was stare at the diamond ring Luke replaced on your left hand with one of his own before you both had left.
“OMG! Request! Request! Request! reader finally gets to travel and see Cal for the first time since Quarantine and is Shocked by his physique. smut, where they basically ride cal's thigh, while gripping his arms. i'm a slut sorry lol. female pronouns are preferred, but use whatever you like!”
Five months.
You haven’t seen Calum in five months and it was driving you insane.
When quarantine started you never thought you’d be trapped inside the state borders of Virginia. You thought you would have enough time to go back home to your boyfriend and spend the next few weeks cuddling up by his side. But, since timing can be a bitch sometimes, your work required you to stay a little bit longer and you missed the last flight to LA. So to say that you were ecstatic to get home would be an understatement.
You haven’t told Calum that you were on your way home, wanting to surprise him when you open the door to your shared home. The smirk on your face could only be matched with the up and down movements of your leg, being almost impossible to contain your excitement.
The Uber driver finally pulled up in front of the house after nearly one hour in traffic. You smiled through your mask and thanked them several times before jumping out of the car with your bags in hands, wasting no time in opening the door and stepping inside.
The smell of home invaded your senses, as tears gathered up in your eyes. It’s been too long, too long without this feeling of content.
You dropped your bags in the entrance hallway and made your way to the kitchen, hoping to see Calum there and surprise him with a long awaited kiss. Yet, Calum wasn’t in the kitchen, in fact it appeared that he wasn’t home at all! It was quiet… too quiet.
You washed your hands and started walking around the house, trying to find at least a clue of where your disappearing boyfriend went. You searched in the music room, the laundry room and finally your bedroom but he was nowhere to be found. That was until you peaked out of your bedroom window and you had to remind yourself of how to breathe properly.
There he was, tank top soaked in sweat as he worked out in the garden. His hair has gone longer, you never could tell in your FaceTime calls because he always wore a hoodie or some kind of bucket house whenever he was on the phone with you, and now his curls were unsuccessfully tamed in a headband, preventing it from hitting and sticking to his head. You slightly bit your lip at the thought of ripping that headband off his head and pulling on his curls just like you used to do.
He’s got a lot bigger too, you could feel your cheeks getting warmer at the sight of his muscles flexing with ease every time he stretched his arms. The need for him grew stronger as you imagined how it would be like to be held down by those arms, pinning you to the mattress as he ran his hands through your body until they landed on your neck, squeezing it just right until…
“Holy shit!” A voice said, interrupting your daydream. You looked down to see Calum already staring at you, blinking a few times just to make sure his eyes were not fooling him. You smiled and waved, quickly getting away from the window as you started running downstairs to meet him.
Calum entered the house just in time to see you walk the last step of the stairs and catch you in his arms as you ran into him, wrapping your arms around his neck and your legs around his waist.
“I’m not dreaming, please tell me I’m not dreaming. I’m so gonna hate myself if this is another dream” He said, hiding his head into the crook of your neck.
You laughed as you pulled away a bit, cupping his cheeks into your hand and pressing little kisses across his face “It’s real, baby” You said through kisses and happy tears “I’m home. I’m finally home”
Calum’s smile reached his eyes as he started giggling with you, wasting no time to press his lips against yours.
The kiss quickly turned heated as you parted your lips and granted him access to deepen the kiss the way you both needed. ’It’s been too long’ you thought ‘too long without his kiss’
His hands traveled down grabbing your ass and giving it a little squeeze, making you moan into the kiss as you felt his growing erection through the thin material of the shorts he was wearing. Without skipping a beat, Calum walked backwards until the back of his calves met with the soft cushions of the couch, sitting down and pulling you on top of his lap without breaking the kiss.
You straddled his thigh and started moving slowly, creating a soft rhythm that matched with the movements of your lips “You dreamt about me?” You ask, breaking the kiss and starting to trail your lips against his jaw.
“Yes,” Calum breathed as he pulled you even closer to him, almost not believing you were actually there “All the time I imagined you were coming home, almost lost my mind for a second there”
You hummed, trailing your hands up and downs his muscular arms “I see you got yourself busy while I was away” You giggled.
Calum’s plump lips made their way to your neck, kissing and leaving marks wherever he wanted, making you moan softly when he found your sweet spot right under your ear “Thought you might like it,” he teased as his hands started to touch you under your shirt, leaving goosebumps wherever they touched “Let the hair grow as well”
“I could tell… Cal-“ You whimpered. His hands were cupping your breasts over your bra, thumbs slightly rubbing your nipples over the thin fabric, making you roll your hips with more intent as you bite your lips trying to contain the moans.
Calum groaned at the sight “Nu-uh,” He said, kissing you so you’ll stop biting your lips “I wanna hear you baby, please” He almost begged, adding more pressure to your nipples “It’s been too long without your pretty little sounds, love. Can't wait any longer, I need to hear you”
You obliged, thankful that you were not going to bust your lip open from biting it too hard. Your hands quickly found the haim of your shirt, pulling it over your head and unclasping your bra, tossing them god knows where. “Fuck.” Calum groaned at the sight of you.
“Like what you see?” You grin.
“Fucking love it” He said, replacing his hands with his lips in a matter of seconds, kissing from your nipples to your jaw and from your jaw to your nipples again, leaving no place unmarked, no place untouched.
One of his hands traveled to your hips while the other one ventured even further down over your panties. You were so thankful you decided to wear a skirt today.
He rubbed his hand over your lips, smirking when he felt just how wet you were “All of this for me?” He asked with a smug expression.
“Yes,” you breathed, quickening your pace so you were rubbing on his hand.
“Yes what, princess?”
“Ah- all for you, Calum” You whimpered in extacy. The FaceTime calls, the sexting and the naughty photos could never compare to the pleasure of the real thing, and to think that you haven’t even started.
“Wanna ride my thigh, baby girl?” He asked whispering in your ear as he bit your earlobe while removing his hand from your pussy and grabbing your ass with a strong grip that you were sure would leave marks tomorrow.
“Yes, sir” You moaned.
Calum slapped your ass and made you yelp at the sudden hit, somehow making you even more wet that before “Do it,” He commanded “Make yourself cum on my thigh, baby girl”
You started to move your hips again, kissing him as you slowly quicken the pace. Your hands flew to his hair, fingers tangling in his messy curls and tugging them with enough force to make him moan in pleasure.
A trail of moans and quick breaths came out of your lips as you felt Calum’s grip on your ass, guiding your movements and pressing you down against him, making you feel everything and more, proud of the mess you were making with every thrust.
“Babyy.. “ you whined, lips parted as you pressed your forehead with his, tugging on his hair so he could meet you halfway for a deep, sloppy kiss “Calum-“
“That’s it, baby. That’s it” He breathlessly praised, feeling over the moon hearing your moans and whimpers, knowing it’s just for him “So beautiful like this, baby girl. So fucking beautiful”
You were close, you were close and he knew that. Calum grabbed your hips and started quickening the pace even more “C’mon baby, cum. Cum all over my thigh”
Your moans grew louder as your vision started to become a little foggy. Your hands trailed down to his biceps as you dug your nails into his skin, trying so hard to hold on just a little bit longer for him.
“Cal- Calum, baby” His name became a mantra in your lips, feeling your climax even closer “I’m gonna cum, baby”
Your nails sank deeper into his arms, making Calum hiss as he was sure you would mark him but in this moment he didn’t find a single fuck to give as you were coming closer and closer with each movements “Fuck. Cum, Y/N. Cum. I got you, baby. I got you”
You closed your eyes as your orgasm ran through your entire body, making you shiver as you slowly came down your high, still feeling Calum’s big hands on your hip.
Once again, you grabbed Calum by his hair and pulled him towards you, clashing your lips together into a passionate kiss, telling everything you need to know at that moment.
“God, I fucking missed you” He said, once you broke the kiss to breathe.
You giggled, still a little breathless “Ditto” You wrapped your arms around his neck, pecking his lips one more time “This was one hell of a welcoming”
“You surely don’t think this is over just yet” He said, a small laugh leaving his lips “I’ve spend five months without you in that bed, you’re not leaving my side anytime soon”
You hummed “Wanna take me there and make up for lost time?”
In the blink of an eye Calum got to his feet and pulled you over his shoulder, making you yelp and giggle as he carried you to your shared bedroom, once hand around your waist while the other one soothed your ass.
“What the hell?” You laughed.
“Perks of working out, honey” He smiled “And we’re about to do one hell of a workout”
midnight city || gang!luke
gang!luke, rival gangs, mentions of drugs, alcohol and violence. smut. 2k. part 1.
feedback is appreciated
Tumblr media
he wiped the blood off his knuckles. the feeling of beating the shit out of someone is a rush of adrenaline. it’s like getting high on coke, but he doesn’t deal with that shit. he’s known many people who do hard drugs and then end up in trouble, or dead. he appreciates his life so much. luke likes being the leader of the diamond forsaken. a mafia that dedicates its time to drug transactions and occasionally prostitution. luke doesn’t fuck with that either, at least not recently. he met this girl in a bar and he’s been thinking about her for over a month. they’ve been on a few dates, and the sex has been great. she has a great sense of humor and he can tell she’s got street smarts, which he likes. he couldn’t fathom the idea of being with someone who gets scared about his job.
“you good, bro?” ashton, luke’s right-hand man, looks over at the bruises and leans against the sink of the bathroom, lighting a joint. their day is done and it’s time to go party. luke beat the shit out of a dude who didn’t give them their money and he threatened to go to the police. there was no way they would let him leave the storage unit without a warning. luke choked the man and broke a few ribs. he’s used to the job. it’s not like he was always like this. he used to have big dreams about forming a band and become a good musician. but he fell into the wrong crowds, and now here he is. dealing drugs and other sketchy businesses. everyone in la who knows about their mafia, knows not to fuck with them. they would end up dead. the police don’t do anything, they know how dangerous they are.
luke dries his hands with a paper towel and runs his fingers through his golden locks. “yeah,” he says. he’s never walked out of a fight with anything more than a few bruises. he does boxing on his free time, so he knows how to throw a lethal punch, and knows how to avoid poor kicks.
“i heard the grey lilies will be there tonight. i swear to fucking god those girls... i would bang every single one of them, but... you know...”
the grey lilies were a girl gang. they dealt drugs, too. that’s why they were a rival to the diamond forsaken. they never got into a physical fight, but there were many times they were about to. having the best clients was a problem for the male gang, but at least they had more people wanting their goods. but still, luke was pissed that they had a quality over quantity problem. he’d grown accustomed to the luxurious lifestyle. a good place to live, the most delicious takeout, and fancy cars.
“for real?” luke looks over at his friend. he hides his excitement. sure, the grey lilies were trouble. but their top dealer, jackie, was the most fascinating creature he’d ever seen. their dates had been fun, exciting, thrilling. the idea of a secret hookup with their enemy was another rush of adrenaline. one that he actually preferred, if he was being honest.
it’d all started at one of the parties. luke knew jackie, or at least he knew her face and what she did for a living. he was jealous she did so good with clients. she was charming as fuck. they didn’t mean to show up at the same place at the same time, but sometimes the gangs coincided. “did you get the dresnners?” she’d asked him as she took a seat on the stool next to him. her caramel-colored hair was in a ponytail and her eyeshadow was pastel blue. she wore ripped jeans, an oversized white t shirt, and high-heeled boots. the look suited her. she looked like the vocalist of an 80s inspired punk band.
luke scoffed. he knew what she meant. they had been fighting over the dressners for weeks and they decided to go with the grey lilies. that night, the diamond forsaken got blackout drunk. “no, but you did.” he finally said, looking down at the glass of vodka in his hand.
“yeah,” she chuckled and ordered a beer. luke had always thought jackie was pretty interesting, but they’d never talked. not much, at least. just a few words here and there, mostly passive-aggressive shit. but the bickering was also part of the job. that night, though, that night neither felt like fighting. they were already buzzed. jackie took a swig of her beer and looked at him. “you wanna go outside? i got a joint. it’s legit shit, this.” she smiled.
it’s not like he frowned, but something among those lines happened. but fuck it, he thought. “sure. lead the way.”
they went to the terrace of the bar and lit up the joint. luke coughed a little and she laughed.  “i told you it was legit.”
-
luke and ashton walk into the club like the kings they are. everyone stops to look at them. but shortly, they resume their activities. which mostly consists of getting drunk and high. the two men make their way towards their usual booth. michael and calum are already there. calum’s with his girl. a black beauty who gives incredible head, his words. luke takes a seat and drinks the beer in front of him, swiftly drifting off the conversation to look around. he hasn’t seen the grey lilies, but he hopes they get here soon. bathroom sex sounds good right now.
“how was the guy?” michael asks as he throws a couple of fries into his mouth. ashton tells him that luke did a good job in silencing the motherfucker. “three ribs? man, that’s dark. but cool.” he laughs.
everyone seems to stop talking again, and luke shifts his gaze towards the door. the grey lilies have arrived. they look like a grunge band. their leader, lea, wears combat boots and net tights. but his eyes are focused on the girl whose moans keeps him up at night.  she looks gorgeous in that oversized that jacket that seems to swallow her whole, but still barely covers her ass. he wonders if he looks okay, sexy. he didn’t have time to change, and he hasn’t shaved in a few days. his motorcycle jacket has a few stains, but at least they’re not blood.
jackie finds him staring and she puts on a smirk. she pats the pocket of her jacket to let him know that she’s got weed on her. they rarely ever not get high together. that makes her wonder if this, this between luke and her, is just a side effect of the drug. but she doubts it. she actually likes him, even if she despises his friends. they all seem idiotic to her. luke notices the action of her hand and he immediately looks down at his drink. “imma go to the bathroom.” he announces, even though no one is hearing. they’re too into the story about the miami trip calum and his girl took last weekend.
luke stands up from the booth and snakes through the crowd. he catches a glimpse of jackie, who’s making her way towards her regular booth. “meet me outside in five,” he texts her. he watches her check her phone and smile down at the screen.
-
“they’re gonna kill us if they see us together,” jackie says as she pulls out the joint from her pocket. she knows the grey lilies hate the diamond forsaken. they think the other gang are all egocentric assholes. she used to think that, too. but she met luke. and he’s actually a sweet guy. he’s really smart, too. the strategy they use to get more clients astounds her. but it’s nice to know that the grey lilies have the better clients.
luke watches her light up the joint and he leans against the wall outside of the club. it’s dark outside and the air is cold. there aren’t many people in the terrace, but he doubts anyone will say anything about them being together. getting high together. “then we’re just gonna have to keep it a secret.” his smile is shy, and jackie thinks he’s the most adorable man. even if he has bruises on his knuckles from probably beating up some shady guy. she passes the joint and luke takes a drag. “you wanna come to my place later? i got some cds i wanna show you.” they’re both big music nerds, and he loves that. they sit on the floor of his room, high out of their minds, and they listen to oasis, jane’s addiction and red hot chili peppers.
“i don’t know. lea wants to do some kind of after party tonight. and i kinda want to be there.”
luke nods his head, he’s sort of disappointed, but it is what it is. he knows the gangs come first. it’s all about loyalty. that’s why he’d be fucked if anyone of the diamond forsaken members came out right now. but he knows they don’t smoke, except for calum occasionally -rarely, actually. so he’s not worried.
“come here,” jackie smiles as she plays with the zipper of his jacket. they’re incredibly close and she can feel the smoke coming out from luke’s mouth. she kisses him softly, licking his bottom lip. with eyes closed, luke feels stars bursting inside his lungs. he really likes her. “give me that,” she orders and he hands her the joint.
they keep smoking until there’s nothing left and they stare into each other’s eyes. jackie isn’t one to maintain eye contact, but she feels safe with luke. even if he’s forbidden fruit.
the men's bathroom is empty. they had to sneak in so the others couldn’t see them. luke made an excuse about going to the bar to get more drinks even if the counter was crammed. jackie said she was going out for a smoke. it’s all hands and sloppy kisses as they lock the door of one of the stalls. luke bites his lower lip as his back is pressed to the white door and jackie drops to her knees. “you gonna make me feel good?”
“imma make you feel so good, baby,” she grins and unzips his pants. he’s already hard from all the making out in the terrace. so it’s not surprise that his cock springs up as soon as his briefs are pulled down to his thighs. jackie licks the tip and he shudders. he’s gotten a fair amount of blowjobs in his life. the first one from one girl that attended his school and she thought he was going to be a musician one day. but nothing compares to jackie’s mouth. her tongue slides down his length and he closes his eyes, letting out a shaky breath. she’s ecstatic that she can make him squirm in front of her. she likes being in control, even if it doesn’t always happen. luke can be pretty dominant in the bedroom. taking her from behind roughly and choking her. jackie puts his cock in her mouth and she starts bobbing her head to the rhythm of the loud bass coming from the other side of the bathroom door. luke appreciates the little detail. his senses are heightened and it feels like she’s one more instrument adding to the song.
“fuck,” he curses under his breath as he feels the tip of his dick hit her throat. she takes him in so good. she’s an angel. luke looks down and he sees her eyes staring up at him, a subtle smirk on her lips. “you’re- you’re-” he’s trying to say something but his brain doesn’t work. the pleasure is too intense. he hits his head against the door and closes his eyes once again. he’s about to cum. exactly at the same time he hears someone come into the bathroom. fuck. “stop, stop,” he whispers to jackie and cups her face to get her off his dick. she looks through the slit of the door and sees someone she recognizes washing their hands.
“shit,” she mouths. “michael.”
I'll be honest, I'm alright with me
Sunday mornings, in my own bedsheets
The break up with Luke had been easier than you’d first thought. It’d been months of growing apart, feeling like a stranger in your own home, before you finally worked up the nerve to utter those four words: We need to talk. He’d been spending most days and some nights in the studio, and you’d been working overtime at your job too; you were ships in the night who barely had time to say hello and goodbye, let alone have any sort of proper conversation. You’d spent an entire evening rehearsing a script in your head, and as soon as Luke walked through the door and greeted Petunia, you mustered the courage to stand up and speak your truth.
It turned out that you weren’t alone in feeling stagnant in your relationship, and although you could feel your heart breaking as you said the words, Luke’s hand on your knee was all the gentle reassurance you needed. Just like always, even when your relationship was falling apart, Luke was there for you. And that’s what he promised, that night in the living room. It didn’t make sense for you two to become strangers overnight after 3 years together, but you also both knew that you needed space to grow and heal, and that space needed to happen sooner rather than later.
You could tell that part of Luke wanted to fight it, wanted to raise his voice, wanted to convince you to stay. But part of Luke also knew that it was time to walk away, no matter how much his heart was feeling like it was being ripped out of his chest, because he did truly love you, and if he loved you, he’d let you go.
Even though Luke insisted you could stay in the spare room for as long as you liked, it only took a week or so to find a new place. An apartment in KayKay’s building opened up for rent, and thanks to her help, you secured the lease and started moving in as soon as you could. Ashton accompanied you to Ikea and then helped with assembling a new bed and dining table for you, while KayKay helped unpack some of your boxes. You could tell that they were trying to be sensitive, but at the same time were desperate to know what went down in the break up, and after a few slices of pizza and half a bottle of wine, you felt the emotions rushing to the surface.
“It feels dumb to get upset, after all, I was the one who suggested we should break up.” You sniffled, smiling sadly as Ashton handed you a tissue.
“Just because it was something that needed to happen, doesn’t mean you can’t be sad about it. You two shared a lot in the time you were together, it’s only natural that it’s going to take you a while to untangle yourselves from one another and to get your head and heart back on the path that’s right for you.” KayKay spoke softly, throwing an arm around your shoulders.
You knew she was right, and the healing would come; it was all part of the rollercoaster of walking away from someone you thought was the love of your life, but had turned out not to be. Time to adjust and find some independence, and re-shape the life you found yourself in until it was the life you wanted.
But every time I think that I can get you out my head, you never, ever let me forget
Once you’d completely moved out Luke’s house, your reasons to contact him became few and far between. A few occasional texts to advise that he’d let his family know about your split, and a link to a new cafe nearby that he thought was your kind of vibe (and it absolutely was). Everyone in your friendship group was trying their best to help you both cope, but it was hard to avoid the awkwardness that came with a break up of close friends.
You felt like you were walking on eggshells for a while, so you started to say no to invitations out. You threw yourself into a new work project, and barely replied to any group chats. Whenever your friends called, you had the perfect script rehearsed, about how you were going to be up for promotion, and after the next month or so, you’d have plenty more time for catching up with everyone. You were fairly certain that no-one believed your story, but you were sticking to it nonetheless. You’d seen photos online of Luke out and about with various beautiful women amongst the partying crew, and even though you knew better than to torture yourself with doom-scrolling through the internet, you couldn’t help yourself. You had to keep reminding yourself that it was YOU that wanted the breakup, and that it was for the best. Or something like that.
It was coming to the end of your big project, and the entire office decided to head out for celebratory drinks. You only stayed for a couple, because after a month of overtime you were ready for bed. Your boss took you aside to assure you that the promotion was yours and the new contract would be on your desk on Monday, and as you reassured him you were excited to take on the role, a song playing over the bar’s speakers made you stop in your tracks. You’d spent many a Sunday morning dancing around the kitchen making pancakes with Luke and singing these words; something you’d completely forgotten until this moment. As you stepped outside to await your Uber, the first person you wanted to call with the news was Luke. Your fingers hovered over his name for a good few minutes before your Uber driver honked and broke you out of her trance, and you settled for texting the group chat instead to share your exciting update. Lots of confetti and heart eyes emojis started popping up alongside congratulatory messages, and you let out a giggle when you saw that Luke had sent a photo of Petunia with “congrats!” scrawled across it in purple font. It was the last thing you remembered, before the squealing of tyres and your vision going black.
Just when I think you're gone, Hear our song on the radio
Just like that, takes me back, To the places we used to go
The rhythmic beeping of the hospital monitors was the first thing you noticed as you stirred awake. The second was a dull pain across your skull, and the third was that your arm was in a sling. Fourth was the large, warm hand that was holding your own and gently squeezing; without opening your eyes, you knew it was Luke’s. You felt too weak to say any words, so instead you tried your best to squeeze back as you slowly opened your eyes. You heard a sharp intake of breath, before Luke’s smiling face came into view.
“Hey there, sweetheart. How are you feeling?” Luke asked, reaching up to gently brush some hair out of your eyes.
“Like I was in a car accident.” You managed to croak out, shooting him a wry smile and earning a laugh in return.
“You are correct, you can pass go, and collect $200. A pretty gnarly accident, the car’s a write-off, but thankfully everyone’s injuries are relatively minor. Some dickhead ran a red light.” You could tell Luke was trying to remain calm, but under the surface he was pissed.
“Not ideal, but at least I get a few days off work.” You joked, grimacing as you tried to sit up. Luke stood and gently maneuvered your pillows to support your back and shoulders better, and you felt a zap of electricity as his hands brushed your arms in passing.
As Luke sat back in the chair next to the bed, you suddenly realised that it was just the two of you in the hospital room.
“No offence, Hemmo, but what are you doing here? Considering we’re no longer significant others, and all…” You said awkwardly, looking down at your arm sling with sudden great interest.
“Very observant, dear. Glad to see the concussion hasn’t affected your short term memory, I was worried you’d forget me entirely. You did, however, forget to update your emergency contact details, so I guess I was first on the list for the hospital to call. Ash, KayKay and I have been taking shifts but they’re out getting food right now - “ The rest of Luke’s explanation was cut off by a gasp and a cheer at the door, signalling Ashton and KayKay’s return and subsequent delight at you being awake.
The days that followed were uncomfortable physically, but kind of heartwarming emotionally. You got home to your apartment thanks to KayKay’s assistance, and found that your friends had stocked your fridge and freezer full of ready-made meals and your favourite snacks. They’d also made a roster so not a day went by without someone popping in to check on you, although you noticed that Luke never came by.
Your recovery was slow but steady, and soon enough the doctors gave you the all clear. At this point, it was nearly 6 months since you’d broken up with Luke, and you could feel your mindset shifting. He was no longer the first person you wanted to call with good or bad news, or the first memories that popped into your head when you needed cheering up. It almost felt like… relief? Because for the longest time, even though you knew the break up was for the best, detaching yourself from one another seemed almost in possible after so many years of so many memories.
I've been waking up alone, I haven't thought of him for days
I'll be honest, It's better off this way
The tipping point came at Calum’s birthday party, a month or so later. Ashton had invited you out for coffee and nonchalantly mentioned that maybe, possibly, well actually extremely likely almost definitely Luke was bringing a date to the gathering at Cal’s house; a girl he’d been seeing for a month or so. Everyone wanted you to be comfortable, and everyone, Cal especially, wanted you to be there, but they also understood if you wanted to avoid any potential awkward encounters with Luke and his new love interest. You assured Ashton that it would be fine, that you honestly weren’t bothered, and laughed off his suggestion of setting you up with a super hot blind date to help level the playing field.
The night came along, and you found yourself stumbling along Calum’s front path in the dark as you tried not to drop the gift you’d bought for him (a new cookbook and a collection of various hot sauces).  “Bloody 5sos and the “no good party starts until 11pm rule”, you muttered to yourself as you almost tripped over again, and you heard an indignant shout that sounded very Ashton-like behind you.
“Oi! Don’t be mad at us, you know that rule has never let us down!” Ashton bellowed, as he came forward with his phone flashlight switched on, KayKay not too far behind him.
“Damn girl, you like fiiiiiine!” KayKay said, letting out a low whistle. You rolled your eyes, knowing she was exaggerating. Your outfit was essentially a denim skirt and a t-shirt - maybe you’d sexed it up a little bit with some thigh high boots, tousled hair and a red lip, but all’s fair in love and war, right?
The three of you made it inside, and a very tipsy Calum greeted you with open arms and a lot of excitement at your gift of hot sauce. It felt so nice to be back with all your friends at a house party, like the old days, and you found yourself stepping out onto the back patio for a moment of quiet reflection and to share some pats with Duke.
You’d exchanged a wave with Luke when you’d entered the house, but hadn’t quite worked up the confidence to go up and speak to him, especially when he had his new girl in close proximity. She looked really friendly, though, and you could tell from the spark in both of their eyes that their relationship was blossoming in the best possible way. Part of you thought you’d be upset about it, but all you truly felt was content. Content in your life as it was, surrounded by friends that loved you just as much as you loved them, and actually quite proud of how far you’d come over the past year. You’d learned to stand on your own two feet, and you’d grown into a much more settled, independent human as a result.
You were lost in your train of thought when you heard the song change on the speakers inside. Duke’s ears perked up and he licked your hand attentively when you stopped patting him as the song registered - it was your song. Or at least, it used to be. You felt a smile creep onto your face when you remembered the Sunday mornings of pancakes and singalongs, and the smile grew wider when you saw Luke’s girlfriend dragging him onto the dancefloor, much to his (fake) protests. You made eye contact with your kind-hearted, softly-smiling, gentle-eyed ex-boyfriend, and for a split second you saw a flash of concern cross his face. In response, you raised your glass in a cheers and shot him a wink, which earned a smile and a small laugh from Luke before he turned his attention back to the beautiful girl in his arms. You took a sip, and smiled to yourself. It truly was better off this way.
When I hear it, I just can't stop smiling, I remember you're gone
Baby, it's just a song on the radio, That we used to know
(TW) Homophobia Masterlist
Before It's All Too Much. (ao3) - alxclightwood Michael/Luke, Calum/Ashton G, 3k
Summary: "Luke, what's wrong?" he heard, getting quieter as the room began to spin and darkness clouded his vision, his body finally allowing him to succumb to the relief of unconsciousness.
________________________
AKA Luke likes to be dramatic when he's ill.
“You fainted, straight into my arms. You know, if you wanted my attention, you didn’t have to go to such extremes.”
'Do You Believe in Miracles?' (ao3) - The_Lady Michael/Luke E, 83k
Summary: Michael Clifford gets things done. When he wants something, he goes after it until he achieves it. With two Frozen Four championships under his belt and a hockey scholarship to one of the best schools in the country, Michael is not used to being beat, but if hockey has taught him anything, it's how to recognize when he's about to get slammed and his public speaking class? That is barring down on him like two-hundred-pound defensemen during a breakaway,, so he may need to swallow his pride.
An opportunity of a lifetime dangles in front of Luke Hemmings – the role of Jack O'Callahan in limited series about hockey's 'Miracle on Ice' – the only problem is that Luke may have exaggerated his own hockey prowess in his initial audition. Now with a callback on the books, he needs to learn to skate and learn fast.
Florecita (ao3) - merlypops Michael/Ashton E, 14k
Summary: Ashton and Michael's love is like the sea - rough at times and calm at others, but always there. Always.
Honeysuckle - @daydadahlias (cornflowerblue (daydadahlias)) Luke/Ashton, Ashton/OFC E, 28k
Summary: Ashton realizes fairly soon into touring that remembering names isn’t worth his time.
or, it's the 1970s, Ashton is a homophobic lead singer and Luke is the new gay roadie on tour with his band.
I'll Meet You in the Bathroom (ao3) - 1loulu5 Luke/Calum E, 1k
Summary: “Are you…” he swallowed, Blondie’s eyes watching the way his Adam’s apple bobbed, “Are you flirting with me?”
A smirk played at the blond’s lips, “And what if I am?”
“Then I’d tell you I’ll meet you in the bathroom.”
~~~
Calum and a certain blond have some fun in the bathroom.
(love is like) a baseball game (ao3) - no_clue_who Luke/Ashton M, 10k
Summary: Luke had always loved spring training.
When he was a kid, his parents and brothers would take spring break to go down and watch the first, unofficial, games of the season. He got to meet so many excellent players in his time, star-struck by the short-stops that would wave at him or the catchers who would show off their gloves to the crowd. Luke loved spring training and the fun that came with it.
He especially loved it when he was not even twenty and called up to try out for the Phillies team to get a spot in their rotation, no one thought he would get it, not even him. But only a few months later he had made it to the show after a few too many injuries wore them thin. And the rest is, well, history.
This season was different, new, and exciting. The Mets were coming off of an amazing postseason and an even better off-season. Luke had signed a big deal to stay in the orange and blue for another seven years.
love me like you did (i'll give you anything) (ao3) - retromalum Luke/Ashton T, 1k
Summary: Love is stronger than all evil in the world, and they realize that even if cruel mankind rips them apart eventually, they will find each other again. they will go down together, no matter what.
Someone New (ao3) - Honeyedlashton Luke/Ashton E, 4k
Summary: It’s supposed to be the most rigorous Preparatory School in the Northeast, so why does Ashton get away with practically everything? Well, except for the one thing he doesn’t want anyone to know about. As a boy who dreads the summers when he has to go home, he takes solace in his friends and a new kid, Luke. But the decisions made in haste will change his life, but does it have to mean forever?
Subject Line - @daydadahlias (cornflowerblue (daydadahlias)) Calum/Ashton E, 20k
Summary: Maybe the sunrise doesn’t matter much after all. Calum can watch the sunrise any day. How many days will he get Ashton like this? Shirtless, sporting bedhead in a hotel room, with just the two of them for a few lazy hours alone?
Soon enough, they’ll be back on the tour bus and Calum won’t be allowed to hold Ashton’s hand anymore.
The Worst Things in Life Come Free to Us (ao3) - mukeftlashton Michael/Luke, Calum/Ashton E, 54k
Summary: On the outside, Michael looks like a bitter rebel who doesn’t care about the feelings of others. In reality, he’s a kid who had his heart shattered, and he needs help picking up the pieces.
Luke is a fragile teen who lives with his abusive, alcoholic, homophobic father. He has resorted to not speaking, deciding that it isn’t worth his time; no one cares about what he has to say anyways.
Piece by piece, they help each other rebuild the fragments of their shattered hearts, but it doesn’t happen overnight.
this is everything i didn't say - @sup3rbloom (haveufoundwhaturlookingfor) Michael/Luke, Calum/Ashton T, 6k
Summary: Luke's home life has never been great, with an abusive and homophobic father. Calum is the only good consistent thing in his life, with Calum being Luke's best friend. One day, Calum suggests that Luke meets some new people to hang out with. Luke is hesitant, but then he meets a red head named Michael Clifford, and everything changes.
Unexpected Places (ao3) - The_Lady Michael/Luke T, 2k
Summary: The last thing Michael expects to find when heading home from his morning shift at the bakery is a slumped over Luke Hemmings sporting a black eye and split lip. Yet, there Michael’s school-hood rival is, clear as day, sitting on the concrete and leaning against the alley wall. Well, there goes pizza and DnD.
unmute (ao3) - allsassnoclass (brightblackholes) Luke/Ashton, Luke/OC, Michael/Crystal M, 21k
Summary: In 2011, Luke Hemmings met Ashton Irwin for the first time. In 2020, he told the world they’re married. This is the story of everything that happened in between.
The Off-Screen prequel
wanna share? - @daydadahlias (cornflowerblue (daydadahlias)) Calum/Ashton, Michael/Luke T, 10k
Summary: Ashton supposes this is what he gets, though, for allowing the school to drop a random roommate in with him but he still expected to see the guy at least a little during the day
or, the one where Calum and Ashton are college roommates who only see each other at night.
Wordsmith (ao3) - ashtonhours (heartandmindxx) Luke/Ashton T, 4k
Summary: Or: 5 times Ashton’s mouth got them into trouble, and only 4 times he could talk them out of it.

rejected ; c.h. (part i -- preview)
this was supposed to be posted sunday, i don't know why i didn't post it but here's a preview for part one! i know i keep delaying this and i'm sorry, but part one is nearing completion and it should be posted soon. :^)
pairing: calum hood x reader (no specified gender) genre: fluff, angst, classmates to friends to lovers au, college au summary: he was just a silly little crush that you had in high school, and you were sure that after graduating, you would be over it. so why is your heart beating fast as he sits next to you in your first class on your first day of college? word count: 666 (hmmm) (also mostly unedited, if there are any mistakes, let me know!) to be posted: by september 7th, 2021 intro | my masterlist! | story masterlist (coming soon)
By Friday, the promise you made to Jessie fell through. You couldn’t befriend Calum, or at least befriend him the way you wanted to do.
What you had in mind to befriend him was to initiate the conversation first, be the one to say a greeting first, and then by the end of the week have a meal with him. Possibly studying in the library or at a park nearby.
But it’s the end of the school week, and the most progress you made with Calum is knowing that you will now pass the upcoming quiz for your math class.
“You’re joking, right?” Jessie’s voice is monotone, and you can hear the disappointment through the phone.
“Listen,” you started, adjusting the strap of your bag as you made your way to the parking lot. A sigh slips out as your eyes dance across the lot to find your beat-up car before continuing, “I tried. I don’t know why I kept getting shy and closing myself off to him, but we talked more this week than we would have talked during a month back in school.”
Jessie sputters, “That’s not a big accomplishment!”
Throughout high school, Jessie was your shoulder to lean on when you went through the woes of your crush. They also were the one to talk your ear off about how ridiculous you were being. They weren’t shy to push you towards Calum to get you to talk to him.
Jesse was also the one to help you admit your feelings about Calum. Admit that you actually liked Calum, and that was why you couldn’t look him in the eye during your very first interactions.
“Look,” Jessie sighs, “I know you’re shy and all, but it won’t hurt to take the lead at least once. Just once! I know you have it in you.”
You’re about to respond to them when someone calls your name from behind you. You whisper to Jessie to wait before bringing your phone away from your ear and turning to the voice.
“Hey,” Calum jogs up to you, holding a notebook you remember him using during your impromptu study session in the library.
“Hi.”
“Sorry for stopping you like this,” he opens the book and rips out a page, “but you said something about the quiz being next week, so I made this little quiz of my own for you to practice with.”
Calum hands you the page, somehow perfectly ripped from the perforation lines, and it’s front and back. The front has equations with work done to show how the answer was right, while the back had a few equations for you to work on yourself.
He continues, “I thought it’d be helpful—I even did some myself to show you how to do it. I have a feeling this is what Mr. Wills will be putting on that quiz. From what I heard he can be a bit tricky.”
You can slightly hear a squeak from Jessie on your phone, but you ignore them to thank Calum.
“No problem--,” he smiles but it’s quickly replaced with realization, “—oh! You don’t have my number.”
Another squeak followed by a giggle from your phone makes you hang up. You’ll call Jessie once you’re home.
Calum takes the paper back and writes his number at the top of the page. He smiles again when he hands it back, “If you need help or want to check if you got the right answers, you can text me. I mean, if you want to, you can.”
You don’t miss the smirk on his face as he puts recites the words you uttered on Wednesday while you put the page into your binder.
“Thank you again, Calum.”
His smile widens, “See ya soon!”
You watch him walk back towards the campus for a few seconds before turning back to walk towards your car. Your cheeks were burning because of him yet again, and you dread calling Jessie after missing another call.

okay so re: smutless long fics, I’ve tried to compile a list of fics as close to 50k words as possible since that’s the wordcount the anon cited and tbh my friends there really are not that many that I personally have read but I did my best.  All fics under the cut are over 30k and have either been verified good by me or my trusted friends
delete this transmission by @anxietycalling: 67k mashton sci-fi. I reread this one recently and it’s just as amazing the second time around I very highly recommend it
“Yeah,” he says, catching sight of his reflection in the dimly reflective surface and running fingers through his hair to fluff it up. And instead of getting on the mag-train home like he wants to, he catches the northbound train to the greenlawn with Calum. “You know, I think I might not go through with it,” he tells his best friend, meaning his activation. They sit together across from the back doors of the car and watch the adverts for an upcoming showing of ‘Titanic’ at the interactive theater. While Calum sits beside him silently he gnaws on a thumbnail and wonders whether it’s too late to get his money back.
“You can’t go back on it now,” Calum tells him.
And it’s true: His payment has already been processed, the credits removed from his profile. The invoice showed up in his e-net overnight and he’d added it to his encrypted folder. “It’s just - weird,” he says, weighing each of the words on his tongue before he speaks. “To be in charge of another person like that. I don’t want that responsibility.”
I’m a Falling Star by @pixiegrl: 55k lashton fantasy, very cute and sweet
A philosopher once asked, “Are we human because we gaze at the stars or do we gaze at them because we are human?” Pointless really. “Do the stars gaze back?” Now that’s a question.
Or: Ashton’s a shop boy setting out on a adventure to find a star to help grant a wish. Luke’s a star crashed to Earth looking for some help to get back home. They’re both in for more adventure than they bargained for.
I Wanna Sleep Next to You... by milecgv: 54k malum college au.  I read it over a year ago but I’m pretty sure I enjoyed it then
"Cuddle buddies, how can I help you?"
Pausing, Calum thought, he could just hang up. Get over the moment of weakness and face the rest of the night alone. He could do it. But the idea of spending one more second alone, brought a fresh pang of hurt to his heart and really, he couldn't bear it. Before his thought process could spiral out of control, the calm voice repeated itself.
"Um, yeah. I-, I need someone to-" He cut himself off because really, how was he going to phrase this?
Chuckling softly, the man on the other line interjected. "Sir, do you need someone to cuddle you?"
Shit, it was now or never. "Yeah. I-uh, I do." His voice came out so small, and he really hoped the man on the other side wouldn't pick up on how desperate he was.
~~~
Calum gets the opportunity to live out his dreams in New York City but it proves too much for him, and on a lonely night he ends up calling the professional cuddle service he swore he'd never call.
those are the only three completed fics over 50k that I personally can vouch for, but here are a few more longer ones I’ve read and I’ll link some over 50k that have gotten good reviews from my friends after those.
Destination: Perth by onlythevoid: 34k lashton
The stranger swung into the seat next to him and sighed contentedly. Luke stole a glance from under his hat. It was a boy with light-brown messy hair, reminiscent of surfers Luke saw on the beach in Brisbane - he had a t-shirt on and black jeans, and fade-tint round-frame sunglasses propped on his straight nose.
The stranger caught Luke’s eyes.
“Hey?” The stranger asked. Shouldn’t have looked at him, Luke thought. Too late.
The stranger had set his sunglasses on his head and was peering below Luke’s cap. “Dude. You look terrible. Are you okay?”
Oh, so the stranger was one of those guys. Too friendly and ever-inquisitive. Yes, Luke looked like shit; he’d been crying for an hour at a time, every few hours, and all he’d had to eat in the past two days was some wet broccoli at the hospital and a bag of chips he’d bought that morning in Brisbane, and there were bruises all up and down his right arm from a car crash he wished he’d died in.
Luke didn’t say any of that. He prayed his voice would be steady and said, “Yes. Thanks.”
The messy-haired boy did not seem convinced. After a pause, he offered, “My name’s Ashton, by the way.”
hello, hello by @clumsyclifford: 30k lashton
For one long, blinking minute, Luke stares at Ashton and wonders if he’s hallucinating. Because that’s definitely Ashton. That’s Ashton Irwin, his former best friend from Sunny Days, the show they co-starred on as children.
But it’s also definitely Ashton Fletcher, professional film actor worth many millions, possibly hundreds of millions, of dollars, standing on his doorstep, wind ruffling his hair.
Now for the fics that I haven’t read but can confidently say are good through a rigorous peer review system (aka I have friends who read them/I have read and enjoyed other works by these people)
home is wherever you are tonight by @lifewasradical: 72k lashton. this one is on my tbr, I have only heard good things, and I’ve read other things by Amanda and trust her as a writer
Life has become so mundane in the past few years that there’s very little that sends a thrill up Luke’s spine anymore. It’s that idea that had him saying yes to the idea of moving out here for a few weeks anyways: the knowledge that this was a completely new place where no one knew his name. He could be anyone he wanted to be here, within reason. He wouldn’t be seeing any of these people again after May, so what’s the harm in becoming a new person for a bit? Someone not so bogged down by the shit in their head that they can’t get out of bed some mornings. Maybe this is a step in the direction of the person Luke wants to be in the future anyways.
Or, Luke inherits a beach house on a tiny costal island that needs some work. He didn't plan on falling in love with the guy at the hardware store.
world war series by prettyluke: 58k lashton historical au. Megs really likes this one and I trust her judgement
Even after months of seeing bodies ripped apart by bullets and bombs, Ashton still isn't prepared to be ripped apart by the fragile German soldier who has seen far more than any child should.
and
Luke shows up in Britain after 25 years right in time for World War Two to start, and Ashton has been waiting for someone to yank him from his melancholy since Christmas of 1914.
i’ll keep on fighting (just to make you believe) by @squishmichael: 33k muke I have heard good things about this one, have read other works by Taylor and trust them as a writer, and also I did skim this one when it first came out and it’s good I just need to sit down and fully read while paying attention
“Hi, Mike,” Luke says softly.
Michael might have cried from hearing his voice so clearly, not through a phone line, but instead his smile just gets bigger and bigger until his cheeks hurt.
“Hey, Luke,” he replies before throwing himself at Luke, arms looping around his neck and holding tight.
“Easy there, tiger,” Luke says with a chuckle, but he hugs Michael back.
It feels so different, all the shapes and sizes wrong, yet Michael has never felt so at home, melting right into the hug. Luke still fits so perfectly against him despite everything. Because it’s them, and they’re meant to be, and Michael never wants to let go.
*
In which Luke is finally coming home to Australia for the summer after two years, and everything should be perfect. Michael quickly realizes nothing is.
Under the High Low Lights I See You There by @pixiegrl: 33k lashton 90s bar au. I have heard a lot of good things and I have read and enjoyed Emily’s writing
Luke moves onto cleaning the glasses, sneaking glances over at him, admiring the open blue flannel he’s wearing with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows, his chest in the white tank top he’s wearing and the pull of it over his muscles, the acid wash denim pants straining over his thighs. He’s attractive and Luke knows he shouldn’t be looking, shouldn’t be so obvious in his stares, but he can’t help it. The man was made to be admired.
Or: It’s the summer of 1996 in New York City when Luke meets Ashton at his bar. Things aren’t always as they seem.
He Did Ballet by @kaleidoscopeminds: 34k cake. people love this one and meg is a great writer
Like the way he danced, everything in Luke's life was perfectly placed, an allegro exercise all on beat, an enchainment with no mistakes. The last thing he needed was a distraction, something to pull his attention away and make him stumble, like losing your spot during a series of fouettés. He glances back towards the bar and sees Calum still looking in his direction. Luke catches his eye again by mistake for just a second too long and Calum smiles slowly and winks at him. Luke shivers slightly and already feels slightly unbalanced. Calum is definitely not a good idea.
Luke's life is perfectly on track. He is about to get everything he's ever wanted, to become a Principal dancer for the Royal Ballet. He's focused, determined and nothing will get in his way. Then he meets Calum, a smooth-tongued barman with dangerous eyes, and suddenly not everything's so simple.
The Sun Is Burning Down Los Angeles by @burstingsunrise: 40k cake. have heard good things and Molly is a good writer
Calum probably signed a form saying he wouldn’t fall in love with the lead singer of the band. And he really doesn’t want to. What a cliché. It’s just…people get famous for a reason. This guy got famous for all the reasons.
Calum moves to LA to work for 5SOS.
hello there beth i've come bearing gifts! did some watching of 911 edits as one does and came across a few 5sos/911 edits you'll enjoy: we got a cute want you back buck, bad omens buddie 🥲 and the bi anthem for talk fast buck
also as you remember a few months ago i came to you with a question about schitts creek/5sos question so im here again! if you had to assign each boy to a character in 911 which will you choose and why?
ok hope you have a lovely day 💞 thank you for the endless gifs i saw of this show before i finally caved in <3
maya my darling 💛 welcome to the slowly expanding group of 5sos to 911 stans, it’s so lovely to have u join us 😌🫶 i hope u are well and i’m sorry for sucking u in to this 😌
my love thank you for these gifts they’re so beautiful 😭🫶 not the want u back edit starting w buck getting the kid outta the claw machine that’s the cutest scene 😭 god i am Devastated 😭 BAD OMENS BUDDIE!!!!! because Evan. that fuckin ripped me APART 😫 talk fast !!!!! bisexual anthem !!!!! evan buck buckley !!!!! 🙏💕💞💓💗💖💘💝
ooffff ok ok yes!!!! i love this q!! under a read more u know how it be
ashton - bobby / hen / buck
ashton was a rly hard one to pin down because i see parts of him in a couple of characters. firstly bobby - absolutely the father figure and very much the voice of reason when it comes to his team/band/friends. but also shoulders too much of that weight sometimes until it’s noticeably heavy to others. little stubborn to ask for help. i see those characteristics in hen too. such a strong beautiful person who has a clear mindset in what she wants and how to reach it. but takes on way too much at once and only asks for help when it all crumbles. and lastly i see some of buck there too, maybe not so much now that buck is on his breakdown era 😌 like i think ash has come a long long way to break out of his self destructive habits and of putting others first without even thinking about how it could affect him but i’m sure old habits die hard. but i also see buck as ash in the way he lights up a room and is so charming and thoughtful
luke - buck / ravi
i also see a lot of the same destructive tendencies of buck in luke. passing out the ‘good’ pieces of himself to others, putting on a brave face. putting all of the weight of the world on his own shoulders. but also. youngest brother and all the teasing that comes with that 😌🫶 god and he is just so pretty they’re both devastating. but i also for sure see luke as ravi - again youngest brother (idk if that’s canon but he deff gives those vibes of the younger sibling) and getting ribbed by the others, slightly awkward in new situations and around new people and uses comedy as a way to deflect 🫶
calum - eddie
not because i said ash could be buck i swear 😌 no but strong silent type, takes a while to warm up to people but you have his full trust once he’s got you under his wing. he is so fucking expressive 😭 background eddie in scenes vs calum in any interview when he’s not being asked something directly 🫶 he’s made some fucking tough decisions that altered his entire life path, tho calum’s giving up soccer to play in the band is obv a huge positive force that changed everything for him whereas i think eddie has really had to come to terms with his decisions in maybe a more negative way to begin with. therapised eddie tho giving out that love and positivity freely to his friends reminds me very much of calum
michael - chim
god he is so fucking strong and he loves so deeply and loudly. will drop everything to be there for his friends and give them his full support. when he’s so fucking sure of something he’ll pursue it to the ends of the earth. very much michael putting everything in to the band to give himself and the boys a new start at life and he carries that with him now in every band decision. he’s such a strong force within the band he has so much faith in his friends. also he’s fuckin funny mans got jokes 😌🫶
thank u so much my love!!! i hope u have a wonderful day 🥰💛
❅ ❅ ❅
You wake to the sight of Calum’s back and the sound of his gentle voice. The cabin is warm and cozy, your husband’s presence making you feel safe and content. He sits on the edge of the bed, head dipped down and soft words passing his lips. You know your daughter is in his arms without having to question it or see it. You rise slowly and take in the sight of your two loves basking in the glow of a winter sun on Christmas morning. Snow falls lazily from the sky, each flake dancing to the ground in a graceful descent.
“Good morning beautiful baby,” he whispers to Mila as you feel a smile grow across your face. You pull your legs up and slowly move across the bed to settle behind Calum. “Merry Christmas,” he adds to her, hair falling in his face as he doesn’t even contemplate looking away from her.
You reach out to gently push hair from his face and catch the grin at the form of contact. He looks up to find you and gives you a good morning kiss.
“G’morning,” you greet, voice still gravelly upon waking. He smiles up at you and then looks back down at Mila, your hands going back to sweeping his hair from his eyes.
“I can’t believe it’s her first Christmas,” Calum says fondly as he gently rocks her in his arms. She’s awake and alert, a tiny smile on her face as her dad looks down at her. “Feels like I was just able to hold her for the first time yesterday.”
Six months have gone by in a breeze. You nod your head in agreement and settle in closer at their sides. Your gaze fleets from Mila and Calum to the wonder of a white world outside. All that Calum has done to make her first Christmas perfect striking you in that moment. You blink back tears and bite your lip, thoughts caught in a drift of presents; a special one entering your mind. It takes all of you to not spring from the bed to race and grab it.
“I’ll feed her, then we can open presents?” you ask, unable to keep the glee and hope from your tone.
“Absolutely,” Calum agrees with a glint in his eyes as he carefully hands her to you.
Mila greets you with a giggle and you’ve never felt such joy on a Christmas morning before. It’s the first time you’ve woken to your family, felt unconditional love and excitement for the day ahead. For so long Calum has been able to ignite wildfires of warmth through you. Now with him and your daughter on Christmas morning you feel infinitely warm and safe.
In no time you’re back in the living room with Mila in your arms, excitement in your heart and a smile on your face. Calum stands in front of the lit up tree, the sun rising slowly behind him through floor to ceiling windows. Everything shines. Wrapping paper, gift bags, ornaments and smiles. Duke’s already curled up on the couch, the old dog no stranger to Christmas mornings.
Watching Mila on her first Christmas is one of the best gifts you could ever be given. She’s taken by the wrapping paper, paying more attention to wiggling scraps of it in the air as they glitter in the sun than the presents beneath the paper. You and Calum take endless photos as the mass of presents is slowly unraveled. When there’s only two left with your name and his on them little nerves spark to life. You went in search of the perfect gift for him, hid it in your drawer and kept it a secret for weeks though your excitement nearly made you spill several times.
“You first,” Calum insists as he too realizes the last gifts left are for you two. Mila’s in his lap, still entranced by wrapping paper and smiling at the shine. Calum hands you a small but long box wrapped in gold.
You almost insist he goes first but bite your tongue as you realize you want his reaction to be last so you can hold onto it a little longer. You carefully open the paper to be met with a velvet, the typical jewelry box peaking your curiosity and making your heart race in wonder. Calum’s gifts through the years have always been thoughtful. A favorite book. Pressed petals of your favorite flowers. Saved tickets from a special date. You can’t even fathom a guess as you open the box.
Your breath is fleeting as you’re met with a golden heart and chain. Immediately you know it’s a locket, the heart begging to be opened and loved. With gentle fingers you undo the tiny clasp and feel a visceral response to the photo inside. The first time you held Mila is captured and forever inside your heart. Your eyes glisten and you immediately close the small distance between you and your family.
“You like it?” Calum asks and you hear certainty in his voice, the question not needed as you burrow against his side and let your hand find Mila who wraps a tiny hand around your fingers.
“I love it,” you say without missing a beat. “And you,” you continue but pause to give Calum a kiss. He grins into the affection and you see his pride and happiness at his gift well received. You look down to Mila still in Calum’s lap, rebel in her touch and dip down to kiss her forehead. “And you. And Duke too. Now it’s your turn.”
Calum takes your wrapped gift you’ve been yearning to see his reaction to for weeks. It’s the biggest and most meaningful of the few you’re giving him. You bite your lip in anticipation as he rips open the wrapping paper and smirks at the velvet now in his hands. You reach for Mila and bring her to you as he pops open the box and eyes what’s inside. He says nothing as he pulls a chain out and rests a circular silver charm in the palm of his hand.
“Is that…?” Calum asks as you nod, knowing he knows what it is. “Her little thumb print. Look how tiny,” he says, voice cracking syllables as he runs a delicate finger over the impression of Mila’s thumb print on silver. “So I can always have her with me.”
“Just like my locket,” you say; your thoughts and needs and desires so intertwined you understand each other’s everything without words.
You simmer into a happy silence with the mess of Christmas around you. You’re all just content to be with each other. Even Duke is settled at your sides, the tiny Christmas sweater he wears for the cold not even a bother anymore. Mila drifts and the wrapping paper in her hand falls to the floor. You rest your head against Calum’s shoulder and sigh.
“Merry Christmas, love, thank you for my best one yet,” you say.
Calum dips down to kiss the top of your head and reciprocate your words and for the first time Christmas feels like family.
This is Now
Tumblr media
Rating: PG-13 (partying, drinking, weed a few mentions of anxiety)
Summary: Inspired by Wish You Were Sober by Conan Gray. Set in 2015. Calum has leaned into the party scene just a little too heavily. He’s no longer the boy that you fell in love with and you’re tried of the rollercoaster of emotions.
Word Count: 4.3k
2015
The house at the top of the hill was fully illuminated, windows glowing with multicolored lights disturbed only by the silhouettes of partygoers passing by, and seemed to glow even brighter in contrast to the darkness that surrounded it. You could already feel the bass reverberating through your body the moment your feet touched the ground and it made you bite back a heavy sigh as you shut the car door behind you.
You stared up at the house, one you’d never been to but still caused a dreadful feeling of deja vu to wash over you, with parted lips in a vain attempt to keep yourself from frowning. You could barely hear the sound of the driver’s side door shutting over the noise, even from your parking spot near the street, and you felt a headache beginning to form behind your eyes as you waited for Calum to round the vehicle and grab your hand.
This was routine now, a typical night in your life, but you desperately wished it wasn’t. You could think of a million places that you’d rather be, none of which were located in the Hollywood Hills. The thought of attending another party, while it had all seemed so glamorous and fun at first, now made you feel sick.
“You okay?”
Calum’s voice cut through the mild nausea that churned in the pit of your stomach and you nodded, swallowing back the words that threatened to spill past your lips like bile. “Yeah,” you said, instead of what you truly wanted to say, “I’m good.”
You couldn’t meet his eyes as you lied to him, your words barely audible over the noise. You didn’t even bother to force a smile this time. It wasn’t as if he was really looking at you, anyway.
In the beginning of your relationship, back when this was all so new and date night meant burgers and fries and cheesy movies you didn’t actually watch, he would’ve pressed. He would’ve admitted that he knew you were lying and brought a hand to cup your cheek, palm warm against your skin, to encourage you to look him in the eye. He would’ve asked what was bothering you, what he could do to make it better. He would’ve poked your sides, desperate to get a genuine smile to your lips instead of the frown that had seemingly become permanent. He would’ve been earnest, sweet, loving.
But that was then and this is now.
Now, Calum didn’t press. He didn’t ask if you were sure. He didn’t ask if you wanted to leave the party and go get ice cream. Instead, he nodded, satisfied with your lack of protest, and leaned in with the intent to press a kiss to your lips. Before he could, you turned your head and mumbled, “Cigarette breath,” as his lips pressed to your cheek.
He rolled his eyes, no longer amused by your protests when he smoked, but took your hand in his to guide you up the path to the party that awaited you both.
You sometimes forgot that you’d encouraged it at first. That, once upon a time, this had all been fun. It was novel, exciting, something new.
But that was then.
You were both barely eighteen when you met, only months apart in age, and it was like something out of a daydream. You and Calum were both brand new to life without parents controlling your every move and even newer to life in a city like Los Angeles. You were a college student, looking to get a degree and a job, while he was a budding rockstar, looking to make a name for himself.
You were worlds apart, connected only by your age and your schoolyard crushes on one another, but that hadn’t stopped either of you in the slightest.
Your meeting was by chance, a happy accident that made you think the universe was finally giving you what you wanted - if only just this once - and you’d never actually tell him but you still had the t-shirt he ruined, coffee stains and all, buried in the back of your closet. He had been sweet, sincere and soft as he apologized with red cheeks and rushed words. His eyes had burned into yours, earnest and shining with the promise of a beautiful future, as he ignored his friends, all of whom were laughing at him, to help you clean coffee from your arms.
It was something out of a movie, cheesy and cute, but it had been the start of something beautiful.
Your dates were casual, something your mother would’ve deemed appropriate for your age but your friends teased you for, and you managed to avoid being spotted by fans and the few photographers that knew his name. You went for walks, to movies, bowling, for ice cream whenever he was in town and you weren’t drowning in homework.
It was easy, the kind of first love you’d always hoped you’d have, until things changed.
You didn’t begrudge the boys their success. You, like their friends and families, were firmly in their corner and cheered for them every step of the way. They deserved what they got, what they worked so hard for, and you were there to congratulate them on each win.
You know now that you’d been naive, desperately clinging to the notion that everything would remain the same even as their fanbase and name recognition grew larger and larger. It had been stupid of you to think that there wouldn’t be at least a few changes but you did your best to embrace them, glad that Calum was bringing you along for the ride when he could’ve easily left you in the dust.
The boys weren’t the most social when you first met, content with keeping to themselves in the house that they were renting. They didn’t have friends in LA, unsure if they’d be there long enough or fit in well enough to venture outside their own comfort zone, but that seemed to change faster than anything else as the success became more apparent.
They were, like you had been, unused to being the center of attention. It was strange, finding strangers that wanted to spend time with them - even if you know now that it was only because of what they could offer said strangers - but it happened suddenly. If they weren’t being invited to a dinner, it was to a club, and if not a club, a house party. They were hesitant at first, unsteady in a new environment, but they quickly fell into the new life they were living.
They took to it easily, happily, and, like the other changes before this one, Calum made sure you were by his side for it all.
You enjoyed it all at first. Partying with celebrities - even if they were B-List and desperate for a few paparazzi photos to get a little publicity - was an experience you never thought you’d have. It was thrilling, almost overwhelming, but you enjoyed the excuse to get dressed up on the weekend and spend the night dancing with Calum.
It was an occasional thing, once or twice a month, with plenty of dates interspersed to keep you and Calum happy with the amount of time you actually got to spend together without the interruption of strangers. He still practically lived in your dorm, a fixture so common that none of your hall mates even blinked at his presence, and you still felt a thrill whenever he took you home after a party and kissed you in front seat of his car.
But then the parties grew more frequent and the dates in between them grew fewer and farther between.
At first, you found yourself willing to do whatever was necessary to keep Calum happy. He was stressed, you understood that, and if letting off a little steam at a party helped him wind down, you wouldn’t begrudge him that. But it was as if your sweet boyfriend had disappeared and been replaced by someone you didn’t even know.
You were both only nineteen, on the cusp of adulthood, but he was acting twenty-five and rushing his life away.
He called things you both loved, dates you’d once adored, childish and scoffed at the notion of going bowling or to see a movie. He started smoking, the cigarettes a permanent fixture in the pocket of his ripped jeans, and rolled his eyes when you told him that they’d wreck his voice. He was obsessed with fitting in, with being a part of a life he’d once made fun of, and making stupid decisions that worried you.
You could see through him. You could see that he was still the same insecure, eager nineteen year old that you knew, but he put on a brave face and wore a proud mask as he mingled with the crowd.
You’d spent months begging him to take a few nights away from the party scene, to sober up and go camping with you or to Disney for a weekend. You complained that the parties were shit, that they were nothing compared to the ones you used to go to, and he’d told you to stop complaining or stop accompanying him on nights out.
The harshness of his words, the way he’d refused to even listen to your desire, had you on edge. It had only been a week, seven days since the first real fight you’d ever had, and the ground felt shaky beneath your feet as you followed him into yet another party. You wished, desperately, that he’d end the night early and sober. You wished that he’d take you home and wrap you in his arms, face buried in your neck and hands tracing patterns over your skin as you talked about nothing and everything.
But you knew that that wasn’t going to happen.
Because that was then and this is now.
You felt exhausted, tired of the rollercoaster of emotions he’d put you through in only a matter of months, and refused as a man you didn’t know but Calum seemed to offered you a drink.
“This party’s shit.”
Calum’s words cut through the din surrounding you, his tone annoyed and his shoulders slumped. He’d blown off a different party with the boys for this one and it seemed to be far less exciting than he was promised now that you were actually inside. You agreed with his sentiment but you didn’t want to make matters worse by asking him to leave.
So instead of agreeing, instead of asking him to take you home, you shrugged and took a cursory glance around the room.
Strangers were packed together, bodies moving off beat as the music streamed through speakers scattered around the room. The lights pulsed, even more off beat than the dancers, and the flashing made you nauseous as blue light washed over a sea of seemingly identical faces. The entire house reeked of weed, the scent strong and off-putting, and you fought the urge to cover your nose as you took measured breaths in an attempt to acclimate yourself.
Calum was right; this party was shit.
As was becoming standard routine for the both of you, the fact that the party was substandard  and neither of you particularly liked - or really knew - anyone lingering about the room didn’t deter Calum from grabbing a drink and falling into a conversation.
He was attentive, his eyes on the man who’d attempted to hand you a drink, as his arm settled over your shoulders. You felt like a piece of furniture, a fixture for him to rest on rather than a figure for him to pay attention to, and fought the overwhelming urge to throw his arm off of you and climb out the open window in the corner. It wasn’t the most practical option - the front door was right there and stood wide open - but you imagined Calum wouldn’t notice if you slipped out the window.
Though part of you, the more cynical part that had seemingly taken over during the course of the week, wondered if he’d even noticed if you walked straight out the front door. And if he did, would he care?
You knew that you weren’t being fair because, at the end of the day, he wasn’t holding you here. You could leave, walk away from the rollercoaster of emotions he’d put you on. You could walk away from a lot of things in your life, even. You could request an extension from a professor without upsetting the rest of the class. You could skip a class and not delay anyone else’s education.
You were free to do as you pleased, to move as you wished, and you were the only one that would have to face the consequences. Calum, on the other hand, couldn’t. He had the boys to worry about, the fans, his family; anything he did could cause a domino effect and you understood that he was simply looking for something he could control.
But rationality did little to alleviate the nausea churning in the pit of your stomach.
You were afraid that if you stood in the corner, surrounded by the scent of weed and alcohol and too much perfume, you’d say something that you’d regret. You were afraid that you’d start crying or, worse, vomit on Calum’s shoes. So you took a deep breath and nudged Calum’s side. “I’m going to find the bathroom. I’ll be back.”
Calum barely acknowledged your words - and you were grateful this time, glad that he couldn’t hear the wobble in your voice, or, at least, hadn’t seemed to notice. He pressed a quick peck to your temple, his eyes never leaving your companion, before his arm fell from your shoulders to rest at his side.
You left him there, amid the crowd, and ascended the stairs two at a time.
Your breathing was growing shallow, harder to control, as you realized that there were still little things about Calum that remained just as you’d always known them. There were still glimpses of the boy you’d fallen in love with but that was all they were, small fragments of the past that no longer seemed to matter.
Some of the things about him still made your heart race, despite not knowing where you really stood anymore or how you really felt about the person he was becoming. The way that he was still physically affectionate, his arm around your shoulders or waist at any chance he got, and the way that he didn’t mind being in photos together so long as he could half-hide himself behind you and press his face into your neck. He still kissed you goodnight in the front seat of his car, one hand on your thigh and the other on your cheek. He still pressed his lips to your temple or forehead, a soft pressure that bid you goodbye when he didn’t want to say the words.
But part of you wondered if that was because it was comfortable, muscle memory at this point.
Your lungs burned with the effort it took to breathe as you slipped into an empty bedroom and shut the door behind you. You slid down the door and sat there, back pressed against the hardwood, as you willed yourself not to cry. With your knees pressed to your chest, your arms wrapped around them, you reflected on the state of your relationship.
It hurt, thinking that Calum was just going through the motions rather than actively playing a part in your relationship as he once had, but when he spent more of his time with strangers - a cup in one hand and a cigarette between his lips - than he did with you, it was bound to happen.
Sure, you were by his side most nights. You never had to wonder if he was sleeping with someone else or if he was actually out getting wasted - you saw it for yourself, nearly every night - but there was little solace in that. You were like a favorite accessory or a piece of clothing tugged on for comfort, maybe just out of habit. You no longer seemed to play an active role in Calum’s life and you found that you were just as guilty as he was of going through the motions.
Your boyfriend was disappearing before your very eyes and you were just watching him go.
You sat there, back aching as you remained hunched against the door, for far too long. Your eyes remained trained on the hardwood floor beneath you as you thought through everything you hadn’t allowed yourself time to consider. It was hard, reflecting on what had gone wrong and how you’d contributed to it just as much as he had, but it had to be done.
You couldn’t take it anymore, sitting on a rollercoaster of emotions wondering when things would derail or if you’d ever get a chance to get off.
The last thing you wanted to do was leave Calum - you loved him; that much you knew for certain - but you couldn’t seem to find any alternatives. He didn’t seem to be interested in hearing what you had to say, in understanding what you were feeling, or playing an active part in the relationship anymore. He wasn’t ready to move on, to return to some semblance of balance, but you were.
You felt lighter, the weight of the world no longer seemed to be sitting on your shoulders, as you stepped back into reality. A wall of noise hit you as you descended the stairs but you didn’t mind it. You were resolved, steeled to do what needed to be done, and only hoped that Calum wouldnt wish you ill because of it.
You hoped that one day he’d be able to look back and realize he’d gotten swept away in it all. You hoped that he’d be able to realize that you’d done what you had to. You hoped that he’d live to see that day, at least.
You floated the idea of just leaving, of disappearing without another word and crawling out a window into the night air, but you knew that you couldn’t. He deserved a proper goodbye, even if you didn’t feel strong enough to give it.
You waited at the edge of the living room, your arms folded over your chest, and watched as Calum traded drinks with a girl that neither of you knew. A month ago, you would’ve chastised him. You would’ve told him that he shouldn’t take drinks from strangers but you knew that it would fall on uncaring ears.
So, this time you said nothing. You crossed the living room and settled against his side, holding yourself silent and stead as his arm curled around your waist.
“Get lost?”
His words were slurred, his accent almost impossible to understand, but you’d expected that. You wished he was sober, that he would’ve taken the night off and at least paced himself, but that never seemed to happen anymore. He had a half smile on his lips, looking plenty amused with his on joke, and you bit back a heavy sigh as you shook your head. “There was a line.”
He didn’t question it, didn’t seem to ponder what line would’ve taken hours, and nodded. He was far enough gone to not realize how much time had passed and you were thankful for that as you watched him sway to some awful pop remix that you were sure he’d laughed at in the past. You moved a little closer to him, soaking in the last moments you’d spend with his arms wrapped around you, and waited for the right time to ask him to leave.
Calum, however, beat you to the punch. Before you could even begin to think about phrasing your request, he shoved his keys into your hands. “Wanna take me home?”
You were grateful that even in his altered state, he knew better than to get behind the wheel. You took the keys from him, nodded, and sighed as he pressed a kiss to your cheek before turning his attention to the people you’d spent your night with. It was barely coherent goodnight, the words seeming to get stuck in his throat, but they were far enough gone that nothing seemed amiss. They returned the gesture, even bidding you a goodnight, before their focus returned to the last of the liquor.
Getting Calum into the car was always a challenge. Sometimes, you could count on the guys for help. Even drunk, they seemed to be able to handle dragging Calum to the front seat before settling into the back themselves. Alone, it seemed an impossible task. You were sure that anyone watching would assume you were just as drunk as Calum as you stumbled down the driveway, his arm around your waist and a cigarette in his free hand, but this was just another piece of your nightly routine.
Time seemed to pass in a blur as you drove him home. There was silence, neither of you reached to turn on the radio, and neither of you seemed to notice. Calum chain smoked, one cigarette after another disappearing into the night, and you did your best to breathe only when there was a moment without nicotine swirling through the front seat.
You reached his house far quicker than you thought you would, a little disappointed that this chapter of your life was now so close to being over. You weren’t sure that he’d remember this in the morning, you weren’t sure if you’d have to go through it all again tomorrow when he was hungover and annoyed at the world just for existing, but you hoped it’d be easier the second time.
As you put the car into park, Calum turned his head to face you. He flicked his cigarette out the window and unbuckled his seatbelt before leaning over and brushing his fingers over your cheek. “You look nice tonight. I don’t think I told you that.”
He hadn’t and you’d have been lying if you said his words didn’t make your heart ache.
It was always like this. The drunker he got, the sweeter he got. His words, soft and slurred, reminded you of the boy you fell for and you felt your resolve cracking. It was harder than you imagined, leaving when he was looking at you like you were the one who hung the moon and the stars, but it had to be done.
“I love you.”
It was the first time he’d said the words in weeks, the same three words that made your knees weak and your heart pound dripping like honey past his lips. They were the clearest words he’d spoken in hours, as if he knew they were what you needed to hear, and you offered him a watery smile. “I know.”
He returned it with half-lidded eyes and leaned over the console to press his lips to yours. The kiss was soft, a whisper amidst the raging chaos of your internal dialogue, but it felt like you were burning alive. He touched you as if you were made of glass, fragile and liable to break at any moment, but the damage was done. You knew this wouldn’t last, it was a fleeting moment of the past.
A few months ago, you would’ve told yourself that Calum was still the same boy you fell in love with. But that was then and this is now.
He broke the kiss first to press his forehead to yours. His eyes remained closed, his breathing ragged and his cheeks tinted pink, as yours opened and you committed his face to memory. You wanted to remember him as he was, the good-hearted boy who’d shown you more about love than you ever imagined he would. His smile, his eyes, the way he kissed you; they were the good things, the things that made you wish you could just stop thinking and fall into his arms.
But the scent of cheap beer and cigarettes rolling off him in waves, those were the bad things. They were the things that made you wish he was sober and realize that you needed to leave before it was too late.
“Come on. It’s late, you should get to bed.”
Calum was quiet as you helped him out of the car. He didn’t say a word as you unlocked the door, only stopping you to press another kiss to your lips after you turned the key. “Stay with me,” he whispered, his eyes focused on you as he lingered in the threshold.
“I can’t.”
He was drunk, swaying on his feet, but he knew you well enough to know that you weren’t just talking about spending the night. “This is it?”
“Yeah, Cal. This is it. I’m sorry.”
“I know. Me, too.” He paused, his eyes focused on your face and shining with unshed tears, before he added, “I wish you’d stay.”
You offered him a wry smile, one hand reaching out to brush his cheek. “And I wish you were sober. I’ll see you around, Calum.”
He made no move to reply, his words dying on his lips as he watched you disappear down the sidewalk. You could feel his eyes on your back, his stare burning your skin, until you rounded a corner and felt like you were able to breathe once more. Without the weight of his gaze on your skin, you gripped a lamppost and attempted to catch your breath.
It was over; you’d gotten off the rollercoaster. But you left behind the boy you loved.
Once upon a time, you’d have never left him behind. But that was then.
And this is now.
Author’s Note: Hey-o. I haven’t written shit in, like, months. I’ve been so burnt out and depressed and panicky but, well, I’ve wanted to write this since maybe March? So, here you go. I hope you like it. Likes and reblogs and comments make a writer happy. Also very weird to think that Cal and I were 19 in 2015. Fuck, it’s been a long ass 5 years.
Rockstar - Luke Hemmings (smut)
Enjoy my loves. xxx
Tumblr media
His eyes were wandering through the crowd, trying to catch her (y/e/c) eyes, the lyrics were burned into his mind, Luke didn’t have to worry about losing his focus on his music. “Tell me, would you pack up all your bags, stay true to North? You're the only one I'd do this for” a smirk tugged on his lips as he finally found her silhouette, she stared at him, admired him, the red light was dancing across his frame, sparks shot up her spine as his voice dropped, rasping out the first words of the chorus.
“I'd dive deeper for you, what a blessing to feel your love” memories from last night began to crawl back into his mind, Luke had to bite down a groan as he fell deeper into the memory.
Sweat was glistering on her chest, (y/n) took a deep breath, her wrists were pinned over her head, one of his hands was holding onto them, while he was snapping his hips against hers. His name fell from her lips, repeating itself over and over again, almost as if she was worshipping him, like he was a god, that had her in his claws.
“The demons we're running from, they're begging to stay” Luke managed to hold eye contact with her for a few moments, trying to be as discrete about it as possible. She bit down on her lip, couldn’t rip her eyes off him, her thoughts were just as ungodly as Luke’s, thinking back to the way he had devoured her, had wrecked her, made her beg for her release.
“Beg” he let go of her throat, his piercing blue eyes were boring into her soul, coaxing her deepest and darkest secrets out of her, “please - oh goodness gracious- let me cum, please Luke.” Her voice broke, a sob fell from her lips, she was trashing around underneath him, trying to stop her body from giving into the wave of euphoria that was about to overcome her.
“No, not yet.” He pushed two fingers into her mouth, almost automatically she wrapped her tongue around them, he was smirking down on her, Luke seemed to be testing the waters, trying to figure out, how long he could tease her, make her suffer, before her body would give up and break down the invisible walls she had build around her.
Luke was tightly holding onto the microphone, his knuckles were turning white, trying to push his sinful thoughts out of his mind, knowing that he’d have to make it through another thirty minutes, till the end of the show. Just as he started singing the first verse of “no shame” his eyes found hers once again, pulling him into another memory from just hours ago.
“Luke, we don’t have any time to-” he pressed her against the wall of his dressing room, he was nipping on her jawline, eyes closed as he intently  listened to the small gasps that made it past her lips. His hands were working on the buttons of her trousers, the ever so prominent bulge in his pants was growing by the second, aching for her touch, throbbing to feel her wrapped around -
Calum stomped onto Lukes boots, ripping him out of his daydream, just in time to start singing the chorus, he was smirking at him, only suspecting what his best friend was thinking about. Luke rolled his eyes, silently thanking his best friend for saving him from embarrassing himself, knowing that (y/n) would tease him about it all evening.
Unknown to him, she was still hanging onto the words he had whispered to her, just seconds before he had left her for his soundcheck, the way he had ever so slightly nibbled on her earlobe, hands grasping her behind, “this was just a little pretaste sunshine, the night is still young.”
(Y/n) could feel the wetness pool between her thighs, goosebumps were littering her skin, thinking about the different ways he’d make her suffer tonight, coaxing one orgasm after another out of her. She could feel his hands still wrapped around her neck, squeezing off her airway, the gasps that left her lips would only urge him on, get him to tighten his hold even further.
Her fingers were trembling as she followed the security guard to Lukes dressing room, slightly knocking on his door, smiling at the soft “come in” that left his mouth. “Hey Rockstar.” She stepped inside, leaning against the now closed door, eyes wandering across his naked chest, sweat was pooling on his skin, his cheeks were flushed, mascara slightly smudged, a satisfied smile on his lips. “Come here sunshine,” he patted his thigh, tightly wrapping his hands around her, smirking at the squeak that left her, “Luke stop it, you reek.”
Luke tried to savor moments like this, he loved to take her on tour with him, knowing how hectic his life would get, without her near. (Y/n) would always mange to keep him grounded, to calm him down, giving him a way out, to forget about their crazy lifestyle for a few moments. The Australian singer was head over heels in love with her, he wasn’t planning on ever letting her go, checking to see, if the shiny engagement ring was still with him, almost every day.
She ran her hand through his sweaty curls, pressed a loving kiss onto his lips, “You were amazing.” She murmured against his mouth. His heart was fluttering, missing a few beats, he loved to be praised by her like this, knowing how much she enjoyed watching him perform, made him feel proud of himself. “Luke, are you ready? We’re about to leave.” The tour manager knocked on his door, ripping them out of their little bubble of happiness.
The pair was grateful, that the hotel wasn’t too far away from the venue, (y/n)s head was placed on his shoulder, Luke was holding onto her thigh, joking around with the boys, trying to ignore the teasing gaze Calum was shooting him. “Goodnight boys.” (y/n) kissed their cheeks, fingers interlaced with Lukes, excited to finally be alone with him, anticipating the things he’d do to her body.
“Shower?” He whispered against her neck, smirking at her enthusiastic nod, Luke pulled her into the big bathroom, barely giving her any time to admire the luxurious marble tiles as he ripped her shirt off her body. A giggle fell from her lips at his overly excited movements, watching him undress himself, (y/n) couldn’t stop herself from admiring her handsome boyfriend, she was still mesmerized by him, in any way, even months after first meeting him.
The hot water was pouring down on them, loosening his tense muscles, (y/n) ran her hands up and down his sides, slightly massaging his skin. Luke groaned, his member was pressed against her thigh, making her smirk, (y/n) dropped onto her knees and ran her hand up and down his length. He placed his head against the cold tiles, hands tangled in her (y/h/c) hair, shamelessly moaning her name.
He slightly jumped as she kissed the tip of his length, her eyes were closed, she had every inch of his body memorized, didn’t need her eyes to find his trigger points, knowing where exactly she had to touch him, in order to make his knees weak. (Y/n) hallowed her cheeks, trying to swallow down her gag reflex, she relaxed her jaw, fitting as much of him as possible into her mouth.
“Fucking hell.” His moans got deeper, urging her on to pick up her pace, her nails were clawing into the skin of his thighs, her knees were still burning from last night, nothing to stop her in any way though. Luke couldn’t control his movements as he jerked his hips against her mouth, her nose was brushing against his pubic bone, making her gag, a motion that shot shivers up his spine. His length was twitching, telling her that he was close, he’d be pushed over the edge any second now.
A groan rumbled through Luke as he released himself into her mouth, his hot cum was dripping down the back of her throat, a taste she has grown to love.  He needed a few seconds to catch his breath, he was slightly hunched over, gripping her shoulders, a teasing smirk on his lips as his eyes found hers, already planning out the rest of their evening. Luke pulled her onto her feet, pressed a kiss onto her forehead and helped her clean herself before he pushed her out of the shower and wrapped a towel around her naked frame.
“Luke,” she giggled, he sucked on her neck, inhaling her fresh scent, “I love you.” He pulled her down on the bed, hovering above her. His eyes wandered across her features, admiring the love of his life, Luke dipped his head down and captured her lips in a loving kiss, he was tugging on her towel, desperate to feel her soft skin underneath his fingers. Impatiently he ripped the fabric off her body, he attached his mouth to her boobs, sucked on her nipples, making her toes curl.
Luke was grateful, that there were no other fabrics in the way, that kept him from exploring her body, he moved his hands down to her dripping heat, scooped up some of her slickness with his thumb and tasted her arousal. He tilted his head backwards, a groan left him, “you taste so sweet.” Something that made her blush in the heat of the moment. Luke kissed down her skin, circled her belly button with his tongue, kissed down further and reached his final destination, the place, where she was aching for him the most.
(Y/n) closed her eyes and gripped the bedsheets, trying to prepare herself, for what was yet to come. He didn’t waste any time, ran the tip of his tongue through her folds, up to her clit, where he sucked on the sensitive nub, a strangled moan left her, the sound made him shudder, urged him on. “Luke.” She whimpered as he pushed two fingers into her heat, her eyes snapped open, her back was arched, trying to keep herself focused on him and his movements. “Luke, I need more,” she rasped out, a smirk tugged on his lips the moment his eyes found hers, “oh, do you?” She could only nod her head “yes”.
He ran a hand up her chest, grasped her throat and pinned her down on the mattress, Luke crawled up her body, his eyes were glistering, teasing her. The moment he pushed his tip past her folds, (y/n) seemed to be pulled into another dimension, the pleasure he was currently providing her with, made her head spin. His name fell from her lips, (y/n) was holding onto his shoulders, eyes tightly squeezed shut as he shamelessly pounded into her heat, ripping her open for him and his throbbing length.
“Fuck, I don’t think, I’ll ever get tired of this.” He loved that she still felt that tight around him, his mind was completely focused on her and every aspect of her, the name (y/n) was burned into his thoughts. She was everywhere and Luke wouldn’t change that for the world. He squeezed her throat, made her eyes pop open, they were glassy, tears were welling up in them, the pressure was overwhelming, the smirk he had on his lips made her groan.
A whine left her as he pulled out of her, Luke hastily flipped her onto her front, slapped her behind and pushed into her once again, a relieved sigh rumbled through her. His hands were placed on either side of her body, he was set on a ferocious pace, releasing all the pent up pressure from his show earlier on, Luke was wrecking her, in the best way possible. She moaned his name, tightly holding onto the pillow her head was placed on, she could feel the all too familiar emotions coming over her, she was close, desperate to relieve herself.
“Not yet,” he murmured, Luke was chasing his own release, he was buried deep inside of her, (y/n) was able to feel every inch of him. It took the tall man a few more pounds, till he felt his own orgasm approaching, she was trashing around underneath him, biting into the pillow, to tone down the volume of her screams. “Cum for me,” Lukes eyes fluttered close, she was clenching around him, moaning his name, urging him on, to give into the heavenly feeling.
With a moan he released himself into her heat, giving it a few more pounds, till he collapsed on top of her, a satisfied smile on both of their lips. “I love you,” he kissed her shoulder blades and rolled off her, placing himself next to her on the mattress. A giggle rumbled through her, (y/n) turned her face sideways, admiring his sweaty features, “I love you too.”
Let’s break the rules
Tumblr media
Long slender fingers danced across the broken screen; just before sending the text, Calum raised a hand to his curls as he played with them. He thought about sending the text. It had been a long week since he last saw y/n, but god does he miss her. They had agreed to casual sex and friendship, of course, the only rule being that they could not fall in love with each other. Cheesy as it is, Calum was the first one to break the rule. Having her naked in his bed after she had made him feel more alive than he thought was possible simply became too much for him. He snapped himself out of his thoughts and send a text to her asking her to come over. After a few minutes, he got up and retrieved a joint to calm himself down as he waited for her answer. As always, she like to take her sweet time, leaving him as a toy waiting to be picked back up when she cared to. He hadn't always been this desperate for her. He actually found her kinda doll the first time he saw her, she was pretty sure, but nothing out of the ordinary, her hips a little too wide, her stomach a little too soft and her skin a little too uneven, but all the soft curves and flaws were now his biggest weakness.
Across town, y/n had just woken up when her phone alerted her with a new text, his name flashing across the screen. She smiled softly as he requested her company, but she knew they were playing a silent game. She was not who he was meant to fall in love with, as she had been head over heels for him since the first time they meet. The whole "no one can fall in love while we fuck each other" was fun, sure, but she has only agreed because she knew that it was the only way she could show him that she was worthy of his time. It hunted her that she had to sleep with him before he saw her for who she was, but the bad taste of it had quickly faded as Calum has seduced her. Through their shenanigans, she had gotten to know Cal, better than she has ever known anyone. His little dance as he got the first cup of coffee in the morning, how his eyes would widen slightly when she whispered dirty words in his ear, how he would do anything for the people he cared about, it all added up to the Cal she was in love with, but she couldn't let him know. Y/n had noticed how Calum had changed his behavior towards her a couple months ago, she has spent the night, and when she woke up, he was holding her close, softly caressing her arms. When she had stirred, he had pulled her close to his chest. It had been a slow morning. He had taken his sweet time with her in his arms, allowing the world to fade away before gently awakening her. He offered to make her breakfast. From there on, it had been like that every time she went over. She knew she would see him, but she had to keep him waiting, So y/n showered, a long shower taking her time make herself ready for his touch, his gaze to burn through her cloths. She picked out a casual but cute outfit. A pair of ripped bellbottom pants-clad her long legs, the dark band tee contrasting to the white airforce. She made sure to wear matching lace panties and a bra.
**CAL'S POV**God, she makes me nervous, or maybe it is the decision I made before she arrived. I have to tell her, and hopefully, she will agree to let me take her on a date. She took a step back, and my arms fall to my side. Just as I am about to speak up, Duke makes himself the center of attention. She drops to her knees and coos at him as she scratches him behind the ear, a favorite place of his. The sound of her laugh fills my house, and I guess I never really realized how empty my home is without her. My thump rubs her small hand; she sits in my lap as we are gulping down a beer, and the chilly air surrounding us makes her curl up to me. I don't think she has ever been this close to me without any sexual play, and it makes my head spin to think that this could become everyday life. We agree to go inside and order some food to end the hunger we are feeling; thus, desire goes much deeper than food. "Hey Y/N, do you want something to drink? The food will be here in 15 minutes," I ask her. My chance to tell her how I am feeling is here. I am scared to ruin this whole thing. "Yeah, sure, a beer please, can't wait for the food to be here. I am so hungry!" she whines, but I can clearly hear the smile in her voice making my heart flutter. She is sitting, legs crossed, on one end of my couch. I hand her the beer and sit right beside her, allowing her no room to escape. I look at her, and as my eyes meet hers, I can't help but lean in and kissing her. Her lips are even softer than I remember, making me eager to kiss her again, but I have to stop myself; I just can't.
**Y/N's POV**We laughed as we finish the food. Calum has been acting kinda strange all day, but I've let it slip; maybe he is stressed. I know we will be moving to the bedroom soon, and I would be lying if I said that I haven't been counting the minutes till this moment. I'm standing in the kitchen, and he walks towards me, his gaze falls upon my face, and soon, the gap between us is closed, his lips moving perfectly against mine. "Please, Calum," I whimper as his strong hands work on my neck, making me melt in his hands, "Eager are we Y/N?" he raises a brow, he know what he is doing to me, but he is enjoying it. Our bodies move together as if it were their destiny all along. Our clothes are scattered across his house, our naked bodies falling limp against the cold mattress. I look at Calum as he gets up, extending a hand to me " Come on, let's grab a shower, babe" well, shit, this is the first time, and I'm definitely not turning down a shower with Calum in it. He checks the temperature to ensure it is perfect and allows me to step in first, the steady water stream gushing over me. "I am in love with you." his words are muffled by the water, but I hear him clearly as I snap my head to look at him standing there in his glory, damped curls falling over his eyes, making it hard for me to catch his eyes. "Shit, cal" is all I can get across my lips, and I now see his eyes. As they falter, I'm quick to take a step forward and reaching for his hand, his eyes burning through mine. "I love you too, cal. I really do." Before another thought crosses my mind, he has me pinned against the wall, the cold wall making me arch my back and presses my front into his chest. I guess you could say it pays off to break the rules sometimes.
