TIMELINE   —

1990 - on February 19th, Dahlia Annalise Hernandez is born in Gautier, MS.

1995 - Dahlia’s biological parents divorce. Her father, Miguel, takes full custody of her. This is the last time Dahlia sees her mother.

Is that RHIANNON “RIKKI” BENNETT that I see over there? You know they have quite the reputation of being the HALCYON around town. The 27 year old has been around these parts for 18 MONTHS and within that timeframe has landed themselves a job as a SOCIAL MEDIA MANAGER/INFLUENCER while living in SYCAMORE VILLAGE. I overheard that they can be quite OVERLY ASSERTIVE but their saving grace is that they are OUTGOING. Feather Rhiannon Laurent Moreau was raised in what could be considered an unconventional environment. Her hometown was in the depths of Mississippi, just a half hour outside Biloxi. The words “Bible belt” come to mind when looking at the town, but her upbringing was anything but conservative. Her parents, Eric and Daisy, were what could be considered hippies. Marriage was never for the pair of childhood sweethearts and neither was monogamy. When Rikki was five, her mother began seriously dating a doctor named Miguel. She considers him her father as well and loves him as much as she loves her biological father.

Despite thriving on the unexpected, Rikki’s parents were loving and very serious about education. School was of the utmost importance. It was largely due to this that Rikki graduated high school a year early and was well on her way to Ole Miss. After a disastrous, humiliating relationship, she decides to move to Vegas.

A need to put herself through college is what sends her to the pole and it’s there that she truly finds herself as her own woman. It’s also in said strip club that she meets the love of her life. It’s passionate, deeper than anything she’s ever felt before, what causes her to tattoo Asher’s name on her abdomen, and what inspires her to go back to school.

Long distance was a bitch and it broke even the strongest of relationships, even one that Rikki was sure would result in marriage instead of a debilitating breakup and an unplanned pregnancy. Having a baby by herself wasn’t in her plans, but nine months later, Ashton came into the world.

Moving to Vermont was never in the cards until a job opportunity presented itself. Rikki had also planned on raising her son on her own until his father came back into the picture. Initially, they planned on taking things slow, but much like when they first met, it didn’t last. When Rikki discovered she was pregnant again, they got married and finally fulfilled their plans from four years ago.

Background:

Meadow Luna Laurent Moreau was born in a small town in Mississippi, where her mother and father own and operate a restaurant together. She is the oldest of four siblings who had an unconventional upbringing: their parents, Eric and Daisy, are hippies who never married and aren’t monogamous.

When Meadow was a pre-teen, her mother began dating a man named Miguel. Although it took Meadow a bit of time to warm up to him, Miguel has been in her life for over 20 years now, and she has come to consider him a second father. Its from him that she picked up the ability to speak Spanish.

After graduating high school with great grades, Meadow won a partial scholarship to Duke University. To help pay for the rest, she worked as a cocktail waitress in a strip club, a job that came naturally to her after working in her parents’ restaurant as a teenager. Its there she also picked up the skills to work as a bartender, a job she continued to hold throughout college and for a few years afterwards while she tried to establish herself as a novelist.

Meadow published her first novel when she was 25. It was an urban fantasy romance novel (think the Sookie Stackhouse books) focusing on a sapphic couple. Since then, she has written several sequels and spinoffs in the same universe, all set in the Southern US as well. She has enjoyed a moderate amount of success as a writer, enough so that she no longer has to bartend or work as a waitress but not to the degree of (for example) Stephen King. Part of this is because she refuse to sell the rights to her novels to be made for TV or movies, wanting to maintain creative control over her universe.

Meadow moved to Port Whitely last year, when her younger sister Rikki made the move for job-related reasons. Her decision was primarily motived by a desire to help her sister raise Ashton, Meadow’s nephew. She also hopes the change of scenery will inspire her to write another series of novels, this time set in New England instead of the South.

Rikki was born Feather Rhiannon Laurent Moreau to Eric Moreau, a chef known for his unique stance on organic, fair-trade, and locally-sourced ingredients, and his longtime partner in both life and business, Daisy Laurent. Rikki was the youngest of four, headed by two older brothers and an older sister. Her parents are what could be considered hippie and living in the small and conservative deep South, it was a controversial household. Daisy and Eric being ethically non-monogamous didn't help their reputation. When Rikki was five, her mother began seeing a doctor fresh out of a toxic marriage by the name of Miguel Hernandez and he has been with the family ever since.

Education was something highly encouraged in the Laurent-Moreau household. Rikki was an excellent student and graduated a year early from high school, amidst a rather scandalous career. She moved to Vegas following a disastrous relationship ending with her being humiliated. Little did she know, it was the start of the greatest adventure of her life. Rikki went from working in a strip club to making the difficult decision to drop out of school to pursue said strip club career full-time.

While love was something Rikki grew up experiencing, romantic love was something that constantly eluded her until she found it in the most unlikely of places. One night, while fleeing a client at the club, she bumped into the head chef. After fighting her feelings for two years, she opened her heart and let herself fall in love with him.
