Bad Lucille (named after BB King's guitar), some ten years ago with John on vocals and guitar; Joe Betts on bass and vocals; Dave Holland (now of @jadiband2017) on guitar and myself on my trusty Pearl Rhythm Traveler drums - my original black set. We were playing a gig at the old Phoenix Theatre cafe, now called the Sue Townshend Theatre. Our blues/rock set went down a treat as always. Hilarious moment when a worthy old blues guy decided to give us a solid put down. Really put us in our place. He made the mistake of speaking to me. "You're just too tight to be a blues band," he said. "Blues bands are sloppy." Concealing a smirk I replied "Thanks mate that's a real compliment. We've only been together a short time so for you to say we're tight is great. Thanks." He didn't look very happy; he looked confused. Almost like he was thinking "But you're meant to be insulted."
