still thinking about this so obviously I had to noodle around in the character creator to make Rhys "Thorne" (but actually Mahariel-Theirin), absolute bane of the First Warden's life because he has unfortunately inherited his father's tendency to flippant sarcasm and his mother's attitude towards rules (which is: fuck 'em)

(am I aware that going strictly by Dragon Age canon he should have human ears? yes. am I also ignoring that because I think it's stupid and strictly speaking he has more elf blood than human? also yes.)

thinking about a Warden Rook who goes by the name Thorne because it's close to Theirin but avoids any awkward questions or people trying to use him to get close to his parents, who hasn't told any of his companions who he really is, who gets to the Veil Jumper camp in Arlathan Forest and a raven turns into the Witch of the Wilds who starts to introduce herself but then stops and stares at him, while he shuffles his feet and says with a sigh, "....... hi, Aunt Morrigan."

Orest Mahariel: I have two faceclaims for Orest, one being Sutan Amrull, a.k.a. Raja Gemini, and Willy Cartier, a french model. I didn’t intend to have Orest look so much like Raja, but I’m quite happy he does because he’s just got such a drag queen spirit~

Andrea Eleanor Donella Cousland: The faceclaim I have for Andrea is Katie McGrath, namely as Morgana in Merlin, who I didn’t even mean to model her after! It just sorta happened, and I am very glad it did! Damn those icy noblewomen, stealing my heart!

Faelyn Tabris: The faceclaim I have for Faelyn is Georgia May Jagger, a beautiful buck-toothed woman! God, she’s so cute... Her body’s pretty similar, too, generally quite slim and waif-y! (Sorry about the almost-boobs lol)

Gemma Brosca: I love Gemma’s faceclaim since it’s so ironic! Her faceclaim is the only one that not an irl person, but is instead the anime character of Diane, from the Seven Deadly sins! Modeling a teeny tiny dwarf after a literal giant? Yes please!

Hundir Aeducan: It took me a while to find a good faceclaim for Hundir, but I think John Rhys-Davies as Gimli from Lord of the Rings! Not as blond as my tiny ball of bear, but he’s small and covered in scruff, just like my boy!

The only character I don’t have a faceclaim for is Redren, since he’s completely original and I couldn’t find anybody androgynous enough! But please, if you have any suggestions, send ‘em my way!

Five Facts about Orian Mahariel

some facts about one of my lovely wardens.*Warning* there is quite a bit of Canon Divergence in these facts

1. Wynne was like a mother to him. He latched onto her the moment they met and always tended to get help with his studies from her. When meeting in Ostgar for the first time he felt as if he’d disappointed her somehow but she told him that the maker/his own gods intended for things to happen the way they do. Her death greatly affected him so much so he never forgot about cole. (this leads into second fact.

2. He was present through most of asunder coming in at the same point as Shale. He immediately warmed to Cole and suspected he was different and not cursed as Rhys believed. Even after learning the truth, Orian stood by Cole. After Wynne’s funeral he found others didn't fully remember Cole aside from himself which was odd. Cole also found this odd given Orian addressed him by his name during ‘In Your Heart Shall Burn’. Orian made Cole more human but not by going through Varric. (that's actually still being planned out).

3. Orian was reunited with clan Sabre during the years he lived in Kirkwall. The reunion mainly happened thanks to Merrill. During this time he had a variation of Dirthamen’s vallaslin tattooed onto his back (still being designed) as a way to always remember his Dailsh heritage which he is proud of.

4. (Canon Divergence big time here) He became almost like a therapist to Cullen after Broken Circle. He managed to prove to Cullen that he was different. Despite their romantic relationship being put on hold they remained good friends. In kirkwall, despite orian taking a bit to see through Meredith,their relationship slowly resumed and through this he helped Cullen to see the wrongs Meredith was committing. 

5. Orian wants freedom for the mages but heavily disproves of how Anders is trying to achieve this. He makes it clear to Anders on several occasions that what he and justices are doing is right yet very wrong. He kills Anders in the 3rd Act out of pure anger and regret. He despises how Anders could willingly kills innocents to get a point across and makes it known that he is no longer the Anders he was once friends with.

Bonus:

6. Orian likes Antivan leather and owns several boots in various style made from the leather. All were gifts from Zevran whom he considers to be like a brother to him.

7. He was given the rank of First Enchanter by Irving upon his return to the circle. Orian returned to the circle after Kirkwall to help teach the next generation. He did not replace Irving as the First Enchanter given Orian would eventually have to leave to attend to his Warden duties.
