Ray worked as the front desk attendent, Egon as a bell boy, Winston manned the phones/switchboard, and Peter delivered room service, I’m not sure what job title that is exactly.

How does Egon being a robot effect the plot of Ghostbusters? Asking as someone with very minimal peripheral understanding of Ghostbusters, but wants to give you an excuse to Go Off. Please educate me about this, I will read the response and be nodding appropriately throughout, even though I have none of the context

Thank you for giving me a chance to go off, and apologies if this ask was answered a few hours late! I got distracted rewatching Frozen Empire with some friends while multitasking on answering this ask- XD TW that there will be mentions of gore at the very beginning. While not shown any images or references (for obvious reasons), I want to put this here so people wouldn't get upset for not putting a warning in the first place.

To sum up a quick basis of this AU During a bust with a pretty nasty Class 7 Demon in a robotics factory, there was... a fatal accident in which Egon was brutally killed. (I'm talking sliced in half horizontally with a decapitated head to rub ectoplasm in the wound.) Out of the other injuries this ghost caused on the guys, (the least injured was Winston while Peter almost getting his eye sliced out of his skull) they were for sure traumatized seeing Egon's head croak with his last living breaths. It was hard to break the news to Janine once they got back, and the funeral was hard to sit through after seeing the stitches on Spengler's body and head in an attempt to make him look like a normal corpse. Safe to say things were awfully quiet around the Firehouse for a good while... Until the four were called to the robotic company by the people running it. The entire thing felt like a Faustian bargain, a promise that seemed too perfect to be true, but it was the least the company could do to make up for the fatal loss of Egon Spengler. It took a bit of convincing and effort in trying to electrically transfer memories and thoughts into a machine while working on the most humanoid body the company could. All the Ghostbusters could do was wait. Then, a delivery at the firehouse doors and a giant human wooden sized crate sat at the front of the door. All of them carried it up to the lab, and opened it. Laying in a heavy amount of packaging peanuts and styrofoam was Egon Spengler. The 'skin' on his body was merely realistic rubber, every detail of any freckles or birthmarks was nailed right down to the bone. His hair, while a bit shiny for any normal human being, remained its beautiful dark brown while looking curly as sheep's wool. It's only when the sounds of whirring and the brightness of blue eyes shined on the four. A couple clicks from Egon's eyes as his head turned to look at his surroundings, his friends... "...Well, this is certainly different."

GUYS ITS THEIR BIRTHDAY AND ITS FRIDAY THE 13TH

so i saw frozen empire last night and other than reaffirming my undying and eternal devotion to ray here's my thoughts (including spoilers):

I was not expecting Phoebe and Ray to basically be the deuteragonists of this movie but i have never been so not disappointed about something in my entire life. I loved both their character arcs and i loved the relationship between them. I love that Ray seems to be the adult Phoebe goes to for advice on things that she doesn't want to talk to her family about, and I love that she calls him "Dr. Ray", that's so cute!

The end to the conflict of "Ray still wants to be involved in the Ghostbusting business, but Winston thinks he's too old" is literally just Ray proving Winston wrong and showing he's still a very valuable asset to the team, and... I have no notes 10/10

The scenes with Phoebe and the ghost girl were some of my favorite scenes tbh, really cute first crush vibes coming from Phoebe, they really nailed the John Hughes teen romance feel they said they were going for in interviews

But also, weird amount of parallels between this movie and the Twilight series??? The Robert Frost poem at the beginning, paranormal romance between teenage girl and supernatural creature, the girl becomes the same type of supernatural creature to be with her love interest, obviously not exactly the same but i couldn't help but notice

Wish they would find more for Janine and Winston to do in these movies, Janine in the GB uniform gave me more the vibes of the Q5 episodes of RGB where's she's in the uniform and with the guys and then she just... literally doesn't do anything. Movie!Janine isn't as bad, but I wish they had more for her to do than show up and say something sassy.

Why did Winston get upset with Phoebe for destroying the stone lion that was attacking her? Why didn't she explain that the possessor ghost made the lion come to life and almost kill her? Did he not know the possessor ghost escaped the lab? That whole scene threw me off tbh

Best part overall was the repossessed podcast scene, i want a special feature on the blu-ray that's just this Ray Stantz Giving Vincent Price Vibes Hosting Haunted Antiques Roadshow scene

This really comes down to Tiyah in the comics. I wish we saw more of them because she genuinely seemed like a solid character and I like to think her and Winston are such a good couple

- Ray: aroace, cis

LISTEN LISTEN LISTEN I KNOW THIS IS A HOT TAKE BUT genuinely Ray reminds me of my platonic girlfriend (we are literally queer platonic and I'm a gay man okay) and she is also aroace. I genuinely just like the idea of him also mocking the other guys in that typical 80s humor for not getting Saturdays for "the boys" (But in a non misogynistic way and he also never means it because he loves when the group and their partners all hang out together. He's the type to love barbecues in the summer)

- Egon: ace spectrum, unlabeled but queer, cis

Everyone in this fandom loves to joke that he's a horndog, yada yada ha ha slime joke here. However, I personally think he sees it all through such a scientific lense that there is a sense of detachment

- Peter: bisexual or gay, trans man

I say "or" simply because it depends on the canon to me. RGB Peter is so gay to me like Janine and him are wlw and mlm solidarity (based on my friendship with a lesbian who is awesome and cool but also does bully me) and i have found myself in Peter so many times as a trans gay man that it's hard not to see him as such. I do think primary canon Peter is bisexual though.
