Someone in my inbox (they asked not to tag them) asked me about the repost I made regarding Moumita case so I want to tell you all about it, both because I want more people aware of this and because this has got a lot of rage in me which I want to let out.
My dear followers of you have just some time to read this post and do as least as pray for the poor soul of Moumita and several others I'll talk about in this post after reading this I'll really appreciate. There are heavy mentions of brutal rape and assault cases so if that is too triggering for you refrain from reading.
So this thing happened in India (where I live) on 9th August. Yes that recent. Dr Moumita Debnath was a doctor in Kolkata at RG kar medical College which as far as my knowledge is is a Government College and hospital. To get into this college students need to pass neet exams which one of the toughest exams in the world. She was a doctor in practice. A few interns were running a sex and drug racket INSIDE the hospital. Moumita got to know about this and threatened to expose on social media and tell the authorities. She was unaware that the said authorities was also involved in the racket. She was troubled for the next few days including her new car being vandalized and making her work 36 hour shifts. One night as she was in the hospital on a shift ON DUTY as a DOCTOR, she was caught, held and raped brutally. I won't get into too much details because it is very disturbing and graphic but one of the offenders was a GIRL who helped the men by tying up Moumita. Moumita was raped and beaten up by over 10 people and in the end AFTER she was dead her corpse was assaulted again by a scapegoat who is later sent to jail (keyword, as a scapegoat).
Sadly the story didn't end there. Moumitas parents weren't allowed to see her body for 3hours after arriving at scene. The cause of her death was told suicide. The place where the incident happens was broken down under the name of renovation. The police and government were involved in the tempering of evidence since the interns were from very influential backgrounds. People began peaceful protests and went for candle march to demand justice for Moumita and her soul.
The government's replies? The CHIEF MINISTER of West bengal who's herself a WOMAN states that Moumita was a "characterless" woman , she had a body which would tempt boys , boys can make mistakes so it's okay (??????) , she had affairs and was pregnant (idek why this is related true or not) and that people should not protest and March and should instead just mourn silently.
Shame on her for saying this as a woman herself.
During this candle march one of the protesters (female) was brutally raped, beaten and killed for the sole reason that she was part of the rape.
Sadly this is not the only thing that is happening in India right now.
A 3yo was assaulted by her can driver in woods in Mumbai.
A man eloped with a woman and the woman's family gangraped the man's sister
A man in dehli is arrested for raping his own daughter for the past 2 years
A vizag man rapes a woman in public and the onlookers film her instead of calling police
85 year old woman in up does after being raped
A catholic bishop assaults a nun
And these are only the cases which came forward in news in the past few days just in the span of a week or two.
Men aren't blamed. Women are the ones questioned. Women's character's were judged. Women are the ones told to protect themselves. Where is a woman safe? When is a woman safe? How is a woman safe?
She is still unsafe wearing a doctor's coat, a diaper, a saree, a burkha, anything. She is unsafe in her home, in a hospital, in her school, in public, in her workplace, at night, in morning. No matter how much she fights back she is still unsafe.
And she is still questioned.
It's heinous. Not just the crime but how the public and government reacts to this. And these are just the crime that are known. Hundreds and thousands and who knows how many rapecase files are just buried. Many more than those are never reported. Marital rapes and date rapes aren't even considered criminal.
On 15th august, it was India's 78th independence day. But what are we, the women, really independent from? 78 years and women still don't have half the security and rights as they deserve. Yes, women are now "allowed" to work and study. But they are still getting assaulted at workplaces and schools, no matter how noble the profession or how you g the student.
And Today itself I get a message from the place where I live - a popular gated community which prides itself for 24/7 security that a schoolgirl (12-13 yo) who was in her school uniform was followed by a creepy looking man outside her home and catcalled her (I am not sure if physical harassment took place). Yes, it was dark but the girl was probably coming from a tuition or class. You know what our community head said? "Due to this incident we advice women and children from roaming alone on the street after dark." Something snapped in me and I just wanted to tell this gentleman how about we stop the boys from stepping foot outside after dark instead?
Now as I come to an end of my rage, I just want to tell everyone that this post is not to downgrade my country. I do not want people to think all indian men are harmful or anything like that. Men like that are everywhere. Do not label our country slurs without knowing all of it.
I do not expect you to do anything about this. If possible, pray for these poor souls and let's hope for our government to take some, any serious action regarding this issue.

That RG Kar incident is so draining to read and then there are people who making it so much worse...
"Neet clear karne ke baad bhi unsafe"
"Even doctors are unsafe"
"Nirbhaya 2"
"woh kisi ki beti thi"
I don't have the energy to deal with people who only see this as important to speak about because a smart, educated and qualified white collar worker got killed, who see this as "nirbhaya 2", or who feel the need to see her as someone's beti/behen to feel any sympathy. And those who think that sharing graphic details of her body is any good.
I won't even mention those "what she was doing at midnight? What was she wearing?" people, Because at this point I have realised that the only people who bring this up are those who want to deny the existence of gender based violence. That's it.
Women's lives are not movies that y'all will frame as sequels of one another. Women's lives do not become worthy of respect and safety only in the presence of merit or under the lense of ma-behen-beti. Even merit or presence of any relationship doesn't make women free from the violence they face and men don't like admitting it.

Splitgate 2’s Private Playtest- Better Than The Rest (AKA: The Best)
The term “gamefeel” is abstract, but 1047 Games seems to understand it more than anyone in the games industry.
Recently, I had the pleasure of participating in a private limited-time playtest for Splitgate 2- and while I was excited for the game already, I think somehow they’ve managed to knock this thing even MORE out of the park than before. I’ve said before that 1047 Games is a developer to keep an eye on, and my opinion has only been strengthened; I cannot WAIT for the full game to release. Below, I’ll detail some of my thoughts on what’s new, what’s changed, and ultimately my full unfiltered thoughts on the package presented here.
Before we get into the meat of this, a disclaimer- due to the terms presented by the playtest, I am not personally able to show footage or screenshots of the playtest. However, I am fully able to write about my thoughts- but if you’d like to avoid spoilers for the multiplayer sandbox, you’ve been warned. -RG
Firstly- new content. There isn’t a huge amount to discuss here, but what there IS presents a good slice of what may be coming in the future.
In terms of weapons, one has been added- a bolt-action sniper called the Deadbolt. This thing handles and feels like a dream, bringing to mind the Kraber from Titanfall in more ways than one. It’s powerful, it’s well balanced, and hitting no-scopes with it is a huge boost to my ego.
No new classes in sight (yet), but all three received new and reworked perks. While all interesting, my favorite has to be the new Aeros “Sliiiiiide” perk- which extends and improves the speed AND maneuverability of the already buttery-smooth movement. Funnily, it reminded me of ANOTHER shooter’s more unique slide mechanic- Quake Champions. Feels fantastic.
One new map, an outside sunset arena called Bypass. Visually clean and modern (reminding me a bit of some areas of the Olympus map from Apex Legends), it had a more open feel than the other maps previously available, feeling to ME more like something from Splitgate 1. I’m not sure the open sightlines and extra area are necessarily a good thing- but I’m sure there’s still room for map tweaks.
Secondly- many weapons and abilities underwent a balance pass. While I don’t have a list of patch notes in front of me to confirm some of the changes, the main direction seems to be about leveling the playing field rather than outright nerfing things. The other two power weapons available in the previous playtest have been altered with new mechanics, like the Fubar rocket launcher firing all three barrels when not scoped and the Splitstream SMG smoothly transitioning between single gun and double gun modes when aiming. Additionally, the Aeros class had the overshield removed from the main ability, seemingly compensated with higher speed. If this kind of balance philosophy (offering trade offs rather than directly nerfing the items players find fun) continues, this might end up being one of the healthiest weapon sandboxes in any game ever. Time will tell, though. As a final note, some miscellaneous observations:
Minor UI changes have been implemented in good ways, and the overall game feel in menus couldn’t be smoother.
Art direction is still stellar and much more cohesive than the first game- none of the new additions clashed or felt out of place.
Connections felt decently stable for a playtest, and I didn’t have any experiences with poor matchmaking- every match felt reasonably balanced and fun.
My one major gripe overall is with the performance issues and graphical errors, which have notably increased in frequency since the first playtest. However, this shouldn’t be TOO much of a problem, as, again, this is a playtest- and there is also the ever-present issue of my personal hardware itself being outdated.
Overall, I can’t wait to see what 1047 is creating here. It’s very exciting for me that there is, seemingly, a fresh new shooter on the market that is actually adapting and creating a great experience rather than the 15th iteration of the same puppeted corpse of a game in a row. Keep up the good work, gents- I can’t wait to get back into the arena.
Splitgate 2 is a team-based multiplayer shooter releasing in 2025. You can find more info about the game on 1047’s website (www.splitgate.com) or on social media under 1047 Games.

Heavy tw for rape and murder
Hi scout , please understand that you absolutely don’t have to respond to this message . A horrible crime happened in my city where an on call doctor after 36 hours of duty went to rest in the seminar hall of the hospital where she was brutally raped and murdered in the most heinous way possible . Our country is slowly burning up with this news but I would really appreciate if it spread world wide in any way possible because it really is that deplorable . You’re the only person I know with a large following so do consider amplifying this news . Here are two links for detailed information:

hi anon 🩷 the graphic nature of the assault and murder horrified me and after i read a few articles pertaining to the case to ensure i fully understood what had happened, i was heartbroken to learn that this attack was hardly an isolated case. my heart aches for the pain and fear that this woman experienced in her final moments. reading that the accused man was previously reported to police before and never properly investigated is disturbing and i hope that she’s given the justice she deserves.

Thoughts While Watching Gilmore Girls, 2/18 “Back In The Saddle” (more glorious filler) Part 1
The episode begins with an uninteresting Friday Night Dinner intro that has nothing worth writing about, except we see Richard again, and I feel like I haven't seen Richard in a really long time. (This is a Richard-centric episode, which is fine with me).
They fixed the Tomatos Sign? Say it ain't so!
Oh, the other chalkboard.
I recommend you all look up a woman named Valerie Campbell on TikTok or Instagram. She worked on the show and shares a lot of behind the scenes stories. I can’t seem to find this specific post again, but if you care to dig around yourself, she had a little story about the crew member that actually designed this sign.
I don't remember it being a particularly fascinating story, but if you want to hear the story of Sign Guy, go on and find Valerie.
Thinking about the time Rory took a slice of unbuttered unsyruped French toast on the run like it was a god damn pop tart. You weirdo.
LG: Look at the handwriting on that sign. It's so precise. So determined. It's focused Luke. RG: That's Jess' handwriting.
That tone of suspicion again. Sigh.
You know what, I won't pile on Lorelai too much for this comment, because it was lighthearted and not dripping with passive aggressive sauce for once. You win this round, Gilmore.
Couldn’t have killed you to throw in a “that’s so thoughtful/cute/sweet” or something though.
I love how blasé they are about their notions that either Luke or Jess could have such gorgeous handwriting. Neither of them are marveling even one bit over that skilled graphic design. Sad lack of shock, wonder, and awe.
Lorelai is very much NOT Team Jess and is actively trying to destroy this adorable friendship. Being a Lorelai and Literati supporter at the same time seems like a paradox of sorts? But hey, according to Tumblr, I'm just a big ol woman hater for saying Lorelai is evil. Continue, Lorelai. Lay some old fashioned Dean Lust on us. It's what the people want.
Rory looks thrilled to see ButtZilla.
Drop yourself off a bridge.
Lorelai: Please please please eat with us Dean!
So much said with so little in her tone of voice alone
From left to right: Wetting her pants in excitement to have Dean for breakfast/ thinking about covering his naked body in maple syrup; a man wondering if this will be one of the rarest of days when the Gilmores pay for their food; Hello Darkness My Old Friend; and Buttzilla.
I've got something you can eat, Dum Dum.
JOKES ON YOU BUTTZILLA! JESS WROTE THE SIGN! YOU'RE GONNA EAT AN OMELET THAT YOU ORDERED OFF A SIGN THAT JESS WROTE!
Mind your own business, AssButt. Your necklace is stupid and so are you. Your mother doesn't love you.
"Next time I get you all alone I'm going to give you SUCH a spanking, young man."
Poor put-upon Brad. One day, Brad will rule the world, and the peasants will be sorry. Our usual Chilton crew that consists of Rory, Paris, Madelyn, Louise, Brad, and one rando (some 30 Year Old Archie looking dude) are gearing up for a Business Fair. They have to invent a product appealing to high schoolers. Rory is the CEO, and they have an imaginary 1 million dollars to imaginary market/produce/and distribute it. They also have to find a responsible adult to be their "business advisor". Richard will eventually join them and muck things up. Everyone else's negligent dads are too busy working and Rory's deadbeat dad Crusty is off somewhere trying to impregnate some chick named Sherry and wouldn't know how to Business if his life depended on it, so Richard it is. But this is the 2000s, so surely someone's mother could also have business experience?
Paris and Madelyn suggest Rory's mom, seeing as she "Runs a hotel", but the girls wouldn't know that Rory's mom regularly leaves her shift in the middle of the day to do things like look at coffins. Not a good role model. Joyous filler nonsense.
Rory: LOL yeah I guess. Let’s have someone look at Lorelai’s “books”. The Independence Inn and Stars Hollow are both an accountant's wet dream.
I neglected to include Brad in my poll of Gilmore Girls characters whose quietly bubbling anger will one day no longer stay contained until they snap and murder somebody.
She's definitely not, but Paris threatens her so Rory promises to ask her anyway.
The people of Stars Hollow are incredibly angry and violent. Don't let their sweet faces fool you. Try to take away their coffee or twinkle lights, or fuck up their wedding invitations, and you'll be sorry.
#gilmore girls#rory gilmore#lorelai gilmore#denise rewatches gilmore girls#jess mariano#literati#gilmore girls season 2#filler episode#I am an equal opportunity hater#when I did this on Twitter this 15 year old girl was always in my mentions trying to tell me that criticizing Rory meant I hate women#its a tale as old as time honestly#jokes on her I like Rory now#its satire#back in the saddle

The Great CLAMP Re-Read Part 3: Tokyo Babylon
Part 1 (RG Veda) | Part 2 (Man of Many Faces)| Part 4 (Duklyon) | Part 5 (Clamp Detectives)| Part 6 (Shirahime)| Part 7 (X)| Part 8 (Chunhyang) | Part 9 (Miyuki-chan)| Part 10 (Rayearth)
The CLAMP 90s series. Perhaps their greatest work ever. Tokyo Babylon ran from 1990 to 1993, concurrent with RG Veda, the CLAMP School, Shirahime, Chun-hyang, AND X. It makes you wonder how X and Tokyo Babylon shaped each other (but more on that later). Tokyo Babylon (and X) is also set in the same universe as the CLAMP School reflecting CLAMP’s early interest in crossovers. Planned out as 7 volumes, it consists of 11 big stories and 3 annexes. I read the omnibus versions which contain lots of coloured art, but the original print run is a beauty in 80s and early 90s graphic design.
While I'd never read this before, it's famous enough (two OVAs, a drama CD, and a live action movie), that I went in knowing some of the big spoilers, but not details. So while my reading was coloured by the knowledge of its tragic end, it still felt revelatory to me. It is the first CLAMP work where I think they had gotten their storytelling pinned down enough to consciously think of how to write a story that ties together on a thematic level, in every stage, and it's phenomenal. Heavy spoilers.
Synopsis: Onmyoji and thirteenth head of the Sumeragi clan, Subaru Sumeragi is called upon to solve occult mysteries in post-bubble Tokyo. It's a time of glittering lights, a rotten economy, and city populated by lonely people desperate for an answer to their problems as the millennium draws near. Joined by his fashionable twin sister Hokuto and the kindly but strangely sinister vetenarian Seishiro Sakurazuka - who is in love with him - the overly sacrificing and empathetic Subaru must solve these problems and learn how to live - but Tokyo is not a kind place, especially to those with gentle natures.
The Story: On its surface, Tokyo Babylon begins as a "case-of-the-week" style story, where Subaru has to solve an occult case and learns something. Its a deceptively simple premise that allowed for CLAMP to explore pressing social issues of their time (which still feel resonant due to the sensitive way they explored them), while also building upon Subaru's character development through this, and the suspense of Seishiro's true nature. We observe Subaru grow through his failures and learn more about the limitations of his empathy. No case feels pointless in how it develops Subaru as a person, and his relationship to Seishiro. The dread we feel about Seishiro's connection to Subaru grows that we almost believe we might just get out of this. It's just excellently plotted out.
The comedy is well-timed and CLAMP know when to pull back from it to allow the emotional aspect to come through. Every case is incredibly gripping and I even cried reading "Old". I have seen some suggest it would have been more effective to have a massive twist rather than seed Seishiro's psychopathy throughout, but I actually think this works on a thematic level, and finding out Seishiro is a murderer, the bet, and Hokuto's death, still hit like a gut punch. It's a brilliant usage of seeding information without the full context until the end. I have no complaints here. It's a poignant story of Tokyo in the early 1990s and its destructiveness, while never losing its humanity.
The Themes: Do you know why the cherry blossoms are red. Tokyo Babylon is a story about well, Tokyo. It's about how modern city living that pursues only personal gain and conformity leads to human loneliness, and loneliness is a trap that destroys us all. We can never know someone else's pain, which leads to loneliness - but to recognize that is also freeing because it means we cannot judge and be judged for it. Having empathy is good, but too much and for the wrong people and not for yourself, can only lead to death. Subaru forms his self-identity through others, in contrast to his self-actualized twin, remaining aloof and detached from his own self - this is why Seishiro's betrayal breaks him, because Subaru doesn't know how to live as his own person. It is also what causes his loved ones so much harm in how little he loves himself in comparison to others.
Its a fascinating interplay between community and individuality, the reality of modern life of trying to be someone while also needing to generalize, without ever really settling on either side. Hokuto is right that they're not the same person, but Subaru is also right that they are deeply connected, as all people must be. Where it does come down hard is that humans are not the villains but Tokyo is, in what it represents - greed, selfishness, cruelty, and apathy. "Things like this happen in Tokyo everyday". It is intensely tragic and yet, strangely, incredibly life-affirming. Despite everything Subaru suffers, people are not born and made evil and everyone should be taken for who they are, not a faceless mass. Including ourselves.
The Characters: Like the plot, everything in the characters is tied into the story of Tokyo. Seishiro is Tokyo: the slick, cool-cut well to do man in a suit with no empathy and a taste for violence. He's Subaru's mirror - charming AND connected to people, and yet not. Nobody is special in Seishiro's eyes, nobody deserves to be treated as anything but an object. And then we have Subaru, poor sweet Subaru who is so empathetic and yet so detached from the world and himself because he's so focused on only his job, on not being an individual. He is what Tokyo wants him to be, filled with self-loathing and frankly suicidal impulses that he shouldn’t be alive if others are not.
It's so tragic to watch Subaru finally grow into a person, but to do so to the one person who will hurt him. Subaru wants to to love Tokyo so badly, that it kills his sister, the one person he SHOULD have been pouring his love into, the person who could love him back and expect nothing in return, the person who would allow him love while not dissolving himself in it. And Hokuto is just a showstopper, funny, kind, witty and cool. She's Subaru's northstar, the empathy and humanity where he cannot, almost co-dependent. I love characters that reflect one another and the themes.
The Art: The visual storytelling and panelling are fantastic. Tokyo Babylon offers a sparser and more distinctly black and white look than RG Veda, with a stronger emphasis on emotional paneling that breaks into beautiful spreads. It creates an almost wood-block, timeless appeal (despite the fashion) that is neither too busy nor too simplified. Anything to do with the Bet and especially the finale is incredible. Subaru surrounded by cherry blossoms? Haunting. The fashion is impeccable, I love the bold design choices in the covers and spreads. The character designs in and of themselves are quite simple (and I don't love the seme-uke look of Seishiro and Subaru), but the personality-costuming is so well done and tell stories themselves. And the use of Hokuto and Subaru being identical to conceal the twist? Masterful character design. My only complaint is some of the scanned photo backgrounds are jarring against the lovely drawn art.
Questionable Elements: Subaru is 16 and Seishiro is 25. That being said, I do think from their interviews and the actual text, we aren't meant to ship them, and it's not unrealistic to be a teen and fall for an older person only for it to majorly fuck you up because they abuse their greater knowledge to harm you (which hey, might be a theme!). Some of the way issues are handled is dated, but not too badly. Again, I’m not going to comment on whether this is queer representation or not, since I don’t think that has ever been CLAMP’s intention. Despite the stereotypical seme and uke stuff, the relationship feels real and tangible (which is why the payoff works). My real gripe is Hokuto getting fridged, though it's handled better than expected (still. let's stop killing women to make men sad).
Overall: A beautiful tragedy and an ode to human alienation, identity, and empathy. I went into this expecting to like it, and ended it never the same. It is genuinely a fantastic, fully complete thematic work from them that speaks as a reflection of the time it was written, and yet remains resonant. I know some people find it edgy, but I actually don't think edge is its intention, it's dark and it's tragic but never misanthropic. Yes, Subaru enters the adult world broken, but his refusal to become like Seishiro and to continue to count himself amongst humanity despite everything, reaffirms that life and people have value (notwithstanding his behaviour in X).
You can see so much of their ideas crystallize here that they’ll repeat across X, Xxxholic, etc. We're all just lonely people and we hurt each other in our loneliness, and it's important to recognize that in ourselves and take care of ourselves for it. We have value as individuals AND through others. Read it!
