Step 3: Stop for a domestic - no seriously, this seems like a great time for it...

Step 4: Since this is life or death make sure to get good and childish, and preferably right in each other’s faces

Step 6: Make sure you have an audience for the bickering, even if he looks 1000% done with you both

Step 7: A brief interlude for shooting and BUTTS!

Step 8: Resume antagonising each other - but this time on a bus. Busgument!!

Step 9: Survive somehow. No one knows how. It was probably Lou. Or Abby. She’s pretty competent.

Just rewatched this episode and the deleted scenes. Such a shame this wasn’t included in the episode. I think it’s such an important part of Steve’s journey.

Provides plenty of room for hand gestures and displaying your Tol and Smol credentials

It also means you can get away with pulling faces your partner can’t see (but would definitely have names for)

Whilst still providing the opportunity for some lingering looks if required

(Bonus - your partner can’t always follow your eye line - what are you looking at Steve?)

Telephonic Communication

No point trying to keep this private - your partner will find out one way or another.

Even if it is just by the simple, unsubtle, means of reading over your shoulder

Heart to Heart

Looks the best as it allows for some soulful staring in to the middle distance

Non-verbal

Who needs words anyway when you can just look at your partner as though they hung the moon

A McDanno Guide to: Working on your relationship

Step 1: Attend therapy together, it’s a perfectly reasonable thing to do with you partner after all

Step 2: Commandeer an old lady’s flat to hang out with her cat together

Step 3: Work on your therapy homework like a good boy, even if your partner isn’t helping much

Step 4: Realise you’re not helping much and decide to open up to your partner. Wait for them to fall asleep first though (because he really is adorable when sleepy - not that you’d admit that out loud. Ever)

Step 5: Who needs therapy anyway? You two know each other better than anyone and will prove it with ridiculously sweet gifts and lingering, heartfelt looks.

Rewatching 4x02 and oh how I love the baseball game

From when Danny goes to talk to Grace about her swing and Steve runs over too

To Danny saying “We love Uncle Steve very much, right?” (Not you, we)

And Steve getting this adorable grin on his face

To Steve getting all up in Kamekona’s face when Grace is out

And Danny having to separate them

Basically the whole scene is adorable and I have no point other than that.

Also I very much want a Honolulu Shrimps t-shirt.

A McDanno Guide To: Winding Your Partner Up For Absolutely No Reason (other than you are a sassy little shit)

Step 1: Wait for a colleague to engage your partner in some friendly banter or rivalry

Step 2: Once his interest is peaked and someone suggests a bet, bet against him for *absolutely no reason*

Step 3: Maintain heavy eye contact (seriously just forget anyone else is even there) and then RAISE THE BET YOU LITERALLY JUST MADE

Step 4: Extreme sass

Step 5: Whatever the outcome you’ve already won. Look at that face.

5x12 has some lovely Steve moments:

Steve and Grace - I know they take the mick about Danny not liking running, but does anyone genuinely believe he wouldn’t suck it up and train with Grace if he had to?

Instead Danny knows he can give this time to Steve, time alone with his precious girl, to give them that family time and give Steve the chance to show parental support and love to Gracie.

Science Guy Steve - I just love how smart he is and how resourceful. Nice to see him showing off this side to Duke and Pua too.

Soft Steve - The way he deals with Nahele just shows what a ‘half-baked cookie’ he really is!

Step 1: Cast yourself as the hero and your partner as a slightly goofy sidekick

Step 2: Make sure you partner understands how heroic and noble you are

Step 3: Listen to your partner ignore everything you said and threaten the suspect... hang on...

Step 4: Watch your partner come up with an insane idea... This is getting out of hand... You have more control than this usually...

Step 5: He has a gun, the suspect is already in a hospital bed ! Seriously. WTF!

Step 6: Consider actually being afraid...

Step 7: This really isn’t going to plan...

Step 8: He’s cute as hell though. Maybe just roll with it?

Step 9: Relax. Worse things happen at sea. Apparently
