Aether and you were travellers together, almost like siblings in a way. Though you wouldn't say you guys were siblings since many feelings floating in the air at times.

Spring was apon Teyvet, you and Aether decided to head down to Liyue to enjoy some scenery and visit an old friend. Passing by Wangshu Inn you looked around at the area laughing at the man still stuck on the rock.

You recall the day you had even encountered the poor guy.

"Aether look I found another chest" *woof* "Hm?"

Looking down you saw the most adorable looking creature. *woof woof* Smiliing widely you tackled the poor dog into the ground. "You're so cute!!" he licked your face and pranced around you wiht a doggy grin.

Aether found this adorable and took a picture with the kamera (unknown to you) smiling at his new addition to his collection. He helped you up as a voice called out from above.

You and Aether turned to see a man standing on a rock just watching in horror at the two of you. "Don't you see that creature!? How can you pet it?!" He cried.

Holding back a laugh you just asked him to come down but he wouldn't budge.

Seems even now he still refuses to come down. Aether only sighed chuckling to himself. It was getting late, and you two knew you would be getting to Liyue soon, after your short visit in Mondstadt you had set off at early dawn, but you and Aether were a little less then serious today.

Finally Rex Lapiz's statue stood proud and tall in view, this meant Liyue couldn't be far from now. Walking a bit further you reached the stone arch and took in the view of Liyue Harbor.

Aether headed down, you tailing behind him. "Hey are we gonna rest first before we go see Zhongli?" You asked your voice hoarse from all the yelling you did earlier.

Aether turned back and nodded. "Yeah, I'm beat too..." He said giving a closed eye sigh. Paimon at the moment was dead quiet too, hopefully asleep wherever she slept.

Renting an Inn you finally unlocked the door after several failed attempted (due to drownsiness) you and Aether giggled at your guys stupidity.

Taking in the room you were in, you noticed it only had one bed. Setting down your bad you coughed slightly and your face went a bit red. "I'm gonna go to the bathroom real quick!" You said leaving the room.

Aether already aware of the reason of your escape only laughed his face turning red aswell. He liked you a lot, but he didn't want his feelings getting in the way of his mission.

He had a sister to find for Archon's Sake, but his feelings for you, they were something he couldn't just turn off. After a few mintues you returned, your heartbeat finally calm.

Opening the door, you caught a glimps of an already sleeping figure on the bed. You smiled, your hearbeat quickening again. He looked so peaceful, he needed that in life.

Peace.

You slid yourself into the bed trying your best not to disturb him. Letting out a deep sigh you closed your eyes and tried to relax, but you felt something move agaisnt you.

Aether stirred in his sleep, his arm going over your waist and pulling you closer to him. Now your back against his chest, while his head was in your neck. He cuddled close to you, as if he were afraid to lose grip of you.

You smiled grabbing ahold of his hand intertwining them and closed your eyes, finally letting sleep consume you with a smile on your face.

Timers Soulmate AU with Zhongli

The soulmate timer is the very first contract in Zhongli's life. At first, it amazes Zhongli as he never thought Adepti could have timers. He never considered there would be someone who could complete him, so, despite the fact the timer has a number that Zhongli can barely even comprehend, he is looking forward to his soulmate. He has time, after all.

When Zhongli meets Guizhong, it's the first time he starts to think a bit differently about his timer. Guizhong has too timer, but theirs isn't a match. It surprisingly saddens him, but he hides it deep within himself. Zhongli decides instead to become friends with Guizhong. She becomes his greatest friend and ally, making them explore and learn about many things together.

It's the best time in Zhongli's life so far, making him almost wish his timer would disappear as he knows if his soulmate will die his timer will disappear. Yet the moment these thoughts enter into his mind, he finds himself horrified of himself –he knows he has to get away from Guizhong to not possibly pose the idea of them ignoring their soulmate timers. He sets on a journey with Azhdaha all around Teyvat, only to return home when some troubling news comes to his ears…

An Archon War hits. It's at that time, Zhongli starts to despite his timer. There is despair in the air, pain, blood, and losses. He sees how countless people die, how their timers stop when they die, or they fade away when the counterpart of that timer disappears. It makes him despair. It makes him fight even more viciously manner before he collects the remains of his people, and he sets up Liyue Harbor. He wants to make it a safe haven where no one's timer will stop or disappear, making him set rules, contracts. He realizes the countermeasures are a must if he wants to ensure such a thing. (After all, during the Archon War promises got broken too easily, causing even Guizhong's death when she was too trusting of her partner that she had found…) It earns him the title of 'God of Contracts'.

After the Archon War finally ends and some time passes, Zhongli dares to look at his timer as during the war he hid it. He had learned to despise it, but he had also learned to be scared of it. After all, the timer could have jumped up near zero during the war. If that had happened, it could have been used against him, or he would have been in constant worry about that if his destined one would wind up dead in the war. Almost too scared to look, he ends up looking: the timer is still ticking toward zero. His counterpart has yet to be born in this world, or they survived from the war as the timers in near-immortal beings are wonky like that: your counterpart could be similar to you or born centuries later. The only thing that reassures one about that, they even have one or will have one, is the timer. But now that Zhongli looks at his timer, he notices the time has become much shorter. The time is nearing.

When the time of his destined partner nears him, Zhongli winds up meeting a very interesting youngster. A very ragged one who tries to manage by selling various items she has obviously collected from shores and all other various places. The things she tries to sell are all but junk, but the look in her eyes is what caught Zhongli's attention: full of determination to make it. He feels drawn to her and decides in a moment of a spur to strike a conversation with her. As he converses with her, he ends up buying too much and paying too much. But he has mora to spare. What shocks him, though, is the fact the youngster doesn't have a timer. Never has. She doesn't have time for such silly things as she is on the road to make herself something big. Something, that will go down the history. Zhongli sends her off with a fond smile of past, noticing his timer has stopped. At that moment, Zhongli decides to find the loophole of his Geo Archon contract and tear it down. It'll act as a punishment toward the destiny for breaking his contract between him and his soulmate in an unjustified manner –after all, why he should any more look after Liyue, its people and protect it when his long-awaited happiness was robbed from him like that?

Side note: When Ningguang finally gets her vision a few years later, a timer appears on her hand. Yet the counter shows zero…

Ever since your unexpected arrival into the world of Teyvat, your life had taken a turn — transforming into something you never thought could become your life; that included, and highlighted, the sudden worship of your name. After all, you were just you, nothing particularly deity-worthy; so why was it that now you were revered as an idol above the heavens itself?

You still remember getting the tattoo; it had to be done in three sessions due to the amount of detail and its size – it wrapped itself around your waist and decorated your body as if it had always been there; protectively hugging you close as if your guardian. It was a dragon, you had wanted this design ever since you’d seen it hanging on the tattoo artist’s wall, with striking golden and orange-yellow scales and horns, its long body entranced you with the way it seemed to float out of the paper — when asked, the artist was more than eager to ink it on your skin.

You never thought you’d find someone who’d resemble the tattoo – at least not in the way Zhongli did. After all, in what world did dragons live and breathe or golden-eyed humans wander the streets? Surely, not yours.

In his human form, his eyes caught your own immediately - you recognized a familiar glow in them; they were nothing short of a copy of the ones carved on your skin - but it became abundantly clear the similarities were far more than you had originally thought when you stood in front the depictions of Rex Lapiz decorating a particular temple you had been guided inside of.

It was one of the hundreds of monuments dedicated to you (an idea that you still struggled to come to terms with); but this one was special - Ningguang and the historians beside you had said — for it shows the moment Rex Lapiz, the Geo Archon, first dedicated himself to you and your worship.

You knew who the Lord of Geo was, how could you forget when you had been rendered speechless the first time you met Zhongli in the game, and maybe that was why your breath felt like it had been knocked out of your lungs as you saw the intricate patterns that beautified the walls; it felt like the ink on your skin was burning up.

Once the trip was over and you had been led back to the place you were now calling home, you quickly came to the decision to never show your tattoo to anyone as you remembered the jealous gazes in everyone’s eyes as you showed even the slightest bit of favor towards anyone; how would they react to knowing you had a tattoo identical to the dragon form of Morax?

But it’s in moments of passion where common sense seems to disappear.

You’d always been so cautious to not let his hands drift too far up your waist as to uncover the delicate ink decorating your torso but your mind was hazy and filled to the brim with the feeling of his fingers delicately lifting your silk garments off, his eyes were closed as he littered your neck with the softest kisses, his other hand caressing your hand that laid flat against his bare chest.

“Z-Zhongli…” You moan out, this was one of the few times you let him start things off and your head was brimming with the intoxicating feeling of him.

“Your highness,” he moans against your shoulder, “please… allow me to take this off.”

He paws at your dress desperately as if he wanted to destroy the stupid boundary limiting his love, it was almost cute how agriviated he seemed by the soft fabric, all he wanted to do was show you his love – show you how much he worshiped you.

“Please do.” You don’t even realize your words until you feel your shoulder straps being undone, the fabric falling against your chest and pooling under your feet.

He opens his eyes, he steps away to take away your body – the sight of utmost holiness, the most sacred figure in the whole world; one only he could bear witness to. His shining amber eyes finally trailing down to your waist and his breath hitches and he wonders if his heart has stopped beating from the shock.

A dragon so similar to his own form as Morax laid across your body, circling your waist proudly, his knees feel weak and his cheeks grow heavy with excess blood circulating around his face - he felt flustered, he couldn’t breathe; you… you loved him so much, respected and acknowledged his work and admiration for you to the point you decorated your body with him? Probably

not, maybe he was getting all in his head, letting his pride get the better of him, but the thought was too nice, too pleasing for him to ignore. Call him a naive, selfish, and egocentric fool to believe such a thing but oh, was he the happiest fool in Teyvat.

Before you can fully note the look in his eyes or acknowledge the absolute mess you’ve put yourself in by letting him view the tattoo, he practically launches himself and you into the bed. You stumble backwards, his previously dominating (though it’d be incredibly kind to call it that) attitude is replaced by one of pure worship, his headspace fully transforming into one filled with you as he’s back to being a young god, lost in the world looking for acceptance by the one being he felt he could turn to: you.

His hands travel around your body as if frantically trying to memorize every curve of your person, his kisses became sloppy and desperate as he tried engraving the taste and feel of you into his very being.

“Ah, gh…” You let out, hands come to grasp at his long hair in an attempt to ground yourself from the way he loved your body.

“Y-your highness,” his hands kept tracing the ink, his heart beating faster and faster the more he looked at it, “I’m… ah, thank you for al-allowing me the opportunity to worship y-you-agh.. D-damn it!”

You can’t even reply properly, his sudden change in character and the sheer strength he used to make sure you were kept nice and pretty beneath him leaving you speechless. Oh heavens, you will be in for quite a treat when this is over and Zhongli asks you about the tattoo once he’s in a more stable mindset.

His ego gets boosted, insanely so, even if you explain to him it’s technically not him he’ll still find some way to twist your words around and convince himself, and maybe even others, otherwise. It’s almost as if he’s back to being the young, prideful man known as Morax—he can’t help himself.

Zhongli knows humility and humbleness are two important traits he ought to always carry, if not for himself then at least for you, but how can he? Is this not proof that he’s your favorite? How can you explain such markings if not the result of his hard work? If not with him in mind then it must have been the fates, the universe subtly telling both you and himself about the future, one where you two are connected in more ways than he had originally conceived.

Is it egocentric of him? Yes, absolutely and he knows it very well – he’s vain not stupid, but he doesn’t mind; not when it finally validates millennia of suffering and hardships.

He needed to help you - needed to make the cruel world pay for hurting you - but that could wait. Before that, he needed to ensure that the world would revere you. The clouds above Yujing terrace were heavy - concerning enough to call forth the crowds on the anniversary of Rex Lapis' untimely demise - something only a few select figures of higher authority knew to be a farce. Said figures had gathered around nonetheless - the Tianquan stood gracefully, watching the clouds curiously with her assistant by her side - she had been spoken to by Morax in her dreams, telling her to prepare for a big event - and she had. The entirety of the Qixing was stood behind her, awed by the sight.

Suddenly, the clouds parted, allowing a single spotlight of sun's warm embrace to shine upon the terrace - courtesy of you, eager to give your beloved some of the fanfare he deserved.

Speaking of whom - Rex Lapis burst through the clouds in all his draconic glory, bringing forth a wave of awed gasps - even from the Tianquan, who had not quite expected a return of this caliber from the archon she revered.

He descended - as he always did on this very date until his unfortunate demise, landing gloriously with the ground beneath him thundering. What awed the crowds even more, was the figure perched upon his back, crowned in beautiful gold and amber, looking every bit as divine as you were. Morax bowed, allowing you to slide off of him gently onto the ground.

You had went along with his plans of returning, of allowing him to introduce you to the crowds of Liyue as their divine Creator, but as you felt the gazes fall upon you, you could not help but feel the surge of anxiety wash upon you - reminded of the way cruel eyes and harsh words brandished you an imposter - all too eager to maim and banish you from this world.

Sensing your unease, Rex Lapis, or Morax as you so gently called him - took it as his cue to transform into his more human form - earning another round of shocked whispers as he morphed, his horns and tail proudly on display - the parts of him you had so lovingly caressed and reassured him the beauty of when he himself could not see it.

With a deep, echoing voice, he decided to announce your presence. "I, Rex Lapis, call the people of Liyue to grant the divine Creator the warmest of welcomes," he bellowed, gently taking your hand in his to reassure you that he was there. Your dragon, your knight - he would be by your side to protect you fiercely.

You watched in awe as the nation was brought to their knees, your divine presence and godly aura undeniable as you radiated with joy beside the archon of Liyue himself.

He was not one to deny custom, so he too, fell to his knees before you, holding your hands in his so very gently, his adoring gaze forever focused on your beautiful visage.

His devotion - his adoring and all-consuming love for you was not a secret to the people of Liyue, as long as Rex Lapis had lived, he had lived to serve glory to your presence - what they didn't expect, was the equally matching adoration in the eyes of the creator themselves.

Your laugh, ringing through the terrace, calling forth an awed silence of bewitched followers, the way you stroked the cheek of the Rex himself ever so gently, before tugging him to his feet.

"Morax, my dearest, you're so dramatic," you teased quietly, but each ear strained to hear you nonetheless, eager for anything that you might say or do.

He smiled gently.

"I'm glad it amuses you, my dearest (Name)."

Your heart soared as your name left his lips and quickly, you threw your arms around his neck, seizing his lips in a gentle kiss before an audience of thousands - declaring to an audience of thousands that Liyue - its people and most importantly, its archon, were beloved by the Creator - accepted in all their glory and beauty.

The last of the clouds parted, allowing a warm light to sweep over the nation of contracts - your gentle kiss signing your name at the bottom of the page - sealing your place as the patron of Liyue and lover of the Rex Lapis for all to see.
