Ok I was watching Transformers: Prime, and something is bothering me.
So, in the end(spoiler alert), the Autobots reclaim Cybertron, and Optimus' sacrifice leaves them to rebuild. Ok, great.
Then, we see a scene where the bots are using the decepticon drones for labor, having them clear out rubble and in general doing some pretty dangerous tasks. One even falls off a ledge after getting struck by a piece of building material. All the while, the bots are standing over them with bitter expressions. Overseeing them like they're slaves.
Now, I can understand being a bit bitter about the whole thing; they were the ones the bots often fought, but you have to understand something. These drones were literally designed and built by the Decepticons to serve Megatron. In spite of them being essentially artificial intelligence, they've been shown to have their own personalities. They joke, they chat with each other, they scream when struck down. Their whole purpose is to serve a master that's mia. He's gone, not sure what he even wants. He's gone into self-imposed exile for his actions. So you can imagine that they're going through their own identity crisis. Their only purpose is gone. On top of that, you have the Autobots treating them with coldness, with a lack of support. Almost like they're slaves.
Remember, they didn't choose to serve Megatron. They were never given a choice, and it seems like the bots are taking their anger at Megatron out on them. And that's not fair.
Also, did they forget how this war started?? Megatronus was a slave, a miner who clawed his way up by fighting. It was all he knew; that he could fight, and that he deserved to fight for a better life. He was oppressed by those who saw him as nothing more than free labor and entertainment. Eventually he realized a fundamental truth.
That as long as there are those who benefit from a corrupt system, that system will prevail.
So, he took action in the only way he knew how. I'm not excusing his actions, but Megatron can at least be understood on a certain level.
Back to the clones, who's to say that Steve won't make the same decision? The Autobots have no right to mistreat them, after all. They're just reinstalling the same imbalanced system that led to Cybertron's fall in the first place.
It just pisses me off, they should all know better. After all. They've seen this before.
Then again, as they say: History is doomed to repeat itself.

i never watched arcane cos of the transmisogynistic joke in like episode 1 is it any good after that
There's a transmisogynistic joke in there? Damn that stinks. Anywho, I'd say Arcane is pretty good all around. It's really quite fun and has excellent animation and style as well as an interesting story with fun and dynamic characters. Personally I'm going on a bit of a hater arc unfortunately due to me not really being too pleased with the second season, but overall I think it's worth your time.

I’m sure you wanted to kill him. I’m glad you held back.
[ID: 9 gifs of yoo ji-tae as choi kang-woo and woo do-hwan as kim min-joon in “mad dog”. 3 scenes are interwoven, one of them in black & white and framing the gifset in the beginning, middle, and at the end. in it kang-woo tells his friend park moo-shin: “i was dying to kill him. i wanted to kill him. but min-joon suddenly called my name, saying: ‘mr. choi, let’s stop this.’ and when he said that, i saw mi-sook’s and joo-won’s face on his face.” the two remaining scenes are in full color, showing examples of min-joon stopping kang-woo: in the first one, min-joon holds kang-woo’s fist, the latter turning to him angrily and shouting: “let go, you punk!” but min-joon only looks at him with soulful, pleading eyes, telling him to “stop”. kang-woo looks back at him, stunned, face twitching as the words finally get through to him. in the second one, kang-woo is about to strangle someone to death, but min-joon shouts through the gap of a door locked by a chain: “don’t kill him! don’t! you can’t become a murderer!” kang-woo seems to snap out of it then, letting go of his unconscious victim. /end ID]

I'm rewatching Death Note, on literally the second episode now, and Light gives his whole speech about how people will be all politically correct and say "oh, I want a trial, I want rehabilitation" but what they actually desire is for the bad guys to go away, whether that means life in prison or execution.
And I guess I'd have to watch the entire series again, but I don't remember there ever being a rejoinder to that, aside from L saying that this is a childish notion of justice. There's no viewpoint character arguing in favor of rehabilitation or clemency, no criminal killed whose guilt is questioned ...
On the one hand, this is sort of not what the show is about, it's more about the cat-and-mouse game. But on the other hand, it's raised in the opening episodes, baldly stated by the main character, and then never really put on trial.
So I kind of like that, artistically speaking, because the unanswered claim is more interesting to talk about than if the show had tried to discuss it, but it does raise an eyebrow for me, and make me wonder if this is just the author projecting their own desires and beliefs onto Light, perhaps with an understanding that this impulse toward punishment and execution is a dark one.
Anyway, can't wait for the goth chick to show up.

After rewatching the first episode, I really took note of Rio's behavior this time around and what it could imply.
To me, it didn't seem like they were playing their typical cat and mouse game. When Rio found Agatha and attacked her in Westview she seemed pissed. She was reveling in Agatha's suffering in a way she hasn't done at any other point in the show. You could say it's excitement given how long it'd been since they last saw each other, but I'd argue that while yes her attitude is because Agatha's been away, I don't think it was just excitement Rio was feeling. I think it was anger.
Agatha used the Darkhold to cloak her presence for years. Considering she's the most infamous witch in their world (with the most powerful coven wanting her dead), it makes sense why she'd do it, but the Darkhold also hid her from Rio. I think their reunion was a mix of Rio being excited, and absolutely furious at Agatha for leaving her without a trace (I guess it's like their version of ghosting someone). Agatha was in tears at one point during their fight, and Rio didn't so much as flinch. She said she would lead the Salem Seven right to Agatha's location, and I think a part of her still held that soft spot cause Agatha groveling for mercy did get Rio to stop kicking her ass, but she still really wanted Agatha dead and, more importantly, hurt. And when Rio told Agatha she did have a heart, that it beats specifically for Agatha, I didn't read it as flirty but rather defensive. And maybe even a little longing.
Rio might not know why Agatha decided to obscure her presence for so long until she literally didn't have a choice anymore (meaning she could've intended to cloak herself indefinitely). And if the reason was because Agatha didn't want to be seen by anyone ever again? Didn't want to be seen by Rio specifically? I can imagine that in all the fighting and hatred during their reunion, there may have also been quite a bit of heartbreak.

Discussing Hide and Seek Pilot Tapes
So the Hide and Seek Pilot tapes are apparently canon too. So let's discuss. Note: I know I probably already mentioned some of these points in a previous post but I'm bringing it all up again.
First off I think "pilot" implies that these came first, before anything else. So that's where I'm gonna assume they take place in the timeline.
So here's what I notice in the first tape:
youtube
First off, Amanda and Wooly are still clearly friends at this point. Amanda and Wooly were still best friends at this point. "Right now I'm playing with my best friend Wooly." She says in a way that does not feel forced at all, like she means it.
When looking for Wooly, she says the box is a "good hiding spot" which is foreshadowing that it was supposed to be her hiding spot. More on that later.
I gotta say the art style of the storyboards after Wooly is found is ABSOLUTELY ADORABLE AND MY FAV BY FAR. It's so cute!
Tumblr media
Just look at them! Look at their little faces! I just wanna hug them!
When Wooly starts talking the song "I'm An Animal, and I Ta-" from the game's original soundtrack starts playing. It kind of feels like it was meant to be a leitmotif for Wooly. I noticed it mainly because it's one of my favorite compositions on the soundtrack heh heh... is it just me or is it a little messed up that they chose the song from when Wooly turns into a literal sheep to be his leitmotif? Is that symbolic in any way or am I just reaching? Either way I think it's pretty funny!
I didn't really understand in the music video why Wooly kept asking for it to be his turn only to get really scared when he actually got it. Now that I've rewatched the pilot tapes... I think I have a better idea about it. It's because that's the script and Wooly likes to stay on script. But that clearly doesn't mean he LIKES the script.
Also, while the scene where Wooly asks "what comes after one?" is pretty funny I also find it a bit weird. Like, does Wooly actually not know how to count? Like he could just be sticking to the script but far as I recall from being a little kid myself once (I know, shocking). Usually they'd simply ask the viewer to count with them, I don't recall any characters legitimately NOT knowing what comes after one. Like sometimes they'd say something like: "Can you help me count all these rubber duckies?" or something but I don't think I'd ever seen a show where the character simply doesn't know how to count. And I also had to watch a LOT of these type of shows with my younger siblings and cousins growing up (Mickey Mouse Clubhouse is permanently SEARED into my brain thank the universe for Bluey).
So like genuine question... does Wooly actually straight up not know how to count? He even sounds really unsure the entire time he's counting like... it's just a possibility but like does he really not know? Because that would genuinely be really interesting.
Wooly calls the tree a really good hiding spot, you know cuz it's HIS hiding spot. Side note: It's really neat to see them having so much fun with this in the first tape. Like they are genuinely having a blast.
Moving on, Wooly got REALLY startled when Amanda jumped out at him. Can I make it a new headcanon that he startles easily? (TBF that's the same reaction I have whenever people try to startle me. I'm not scared, just really caught off-guard).
But what happens next is really interesting because Wooly points out that Amanda went off script and he's unsure how to feel about that. He seems really confused. It made me wonder if Wooly likes staying on script because that way you always know what's going to happen and how to react to it. Amanda was out here going off script and changing the episodes for her own amusement from the very start. Wooly also seems a lot more okay with going off script a little "as long as your having fun." but he doesn't seem to like it still.
Amanda and Wooly playing and messing around with each other as they run off screen is just so sweet! I wonder what happened to Grandma?? One of the biggest things I wonder is if this particular pilot happens before or after they get trapped. Like are they recording these lines in a recording booth? Or are they already trapped and haven't gotten their memories/awareness back yet? I think it might be option 2 just because Amanda was able to go off-script and Wooly seemed genuinely confused about it.
Anyway onto part 2!
youtube
Right off the bat Amanda seems confused and unsure about this episode.
Also I find it interesting how she hears out name and says: "Oh really I think we've met before" before getting cut off. This is yet another example of what seems to be the shows built-in censor system for when Amanda goes off-script. When she says "box" the tape glitches and says something else. It sounds like she says "tree" again. I wonder why? When the mouse clicks on the box Amanda seems uneasy. Could this be foreshadowing for Mr. Fox's death? Or does she already know he's not going to be there. Now whenever she says: "This is a good hiding spot" I think of the music video and I think Yeah, to hide a body Amanda?
Wooly still doesn't know how to count... Wooly's part isn't really different but when he says that she's not behind the tree there's this weird intense glowing from the left side of the screen. Wonder if that means something?
The only difference is now when he lifts the box he says: "You're not Amanda." Like... really Wooly I didn't notice a difference? <- sarcasm/joking.
Amanda's eye twitches when Wooly says he hopes he'll see us again soon. Then she says: "Let's play tag next time." which is obvious foreshadowing for her both not wanting to play any more hide and seek and wanting to play tag so badly. They also don't run off playing together in this ending... odd.
Anyway that's all the stuff I noticed! Hope you enjoy the post!

Just rewatched Mumbo’s freak show, and in the spirit of that insanity, rate my Minecraft weirdest:
Inspired by Joe Hills, I have tossing items mapped to “-”.
My MC character is left handed. It freaks people out every time I post a screenshot. I do, however, still have my mouse in my right hand.
…I press shift with my thumb. I never thought this was strange until the hermits called Mumbo out for the same thing.
Sprint is mapped to my middle mouse button.

playing horror games with him is so fun
you share one player and when he gets too scared, you take over
when there's jumpscares, he usually jumps back and hides his face in his hands for a moment
sometimes he needs to set the headphones on the table too
and then other times he just pauses the game to stare at you, pleading to just quit at that point
"go through that door-"
"I'm gonna get jumpscared aren't i?"
"no..."
"oh my god, please no. you're doing this" he speaks as he passes the mouse to you
you chuckle, walking to the door and holding e to interact
*insert jumpscare*
"AGH!"
"LMAO"
"you should play xyz"
"is it a horror game?"
"...yeah"
"I'm gonna have nightmares for weeks if I play that. isn't that the one you showed me that that other streamer played?"
"Uh huh"
"Yeah I'll pass"
"fuck"

Okayyyy rewatched Wish
Here are my notes
Valentino wasn’t as annoying as people say. Sure, he did nothing for the plot and could’ve been removed entirely, but he didn’t make near as many butt jokes as people say he did
The lead-ins for all the songs were great. Certain media (Hazbin, for example) just jump into the songs
Magnifico??? Didn’t touch the pages??? So why would he be corrupted? Why does Amaya know of obsidian oil? Don’t you just skim the pages to release the evil?
Dahlia was amazing
“At the very least break the hold it has on him” Amaya? Didn’t you found this kingdom with thin? Wouldn’t you know?
Also Amaya was very sidelined. Where’s her backstory?
Asha’s magic wand mishaps were… corny at best
Why did they make Dario high all the time? He’s not stupid. I feel like they made him try to be like Fred from Big Hero 6 but failed
“Nine zillyboo, twenty alphabet!” Val, buddy. No.
DAHLIA. MATE. TRUE LOVE’S KISS CAN BRUNG HIM BACK I swear, it feels like the directors were switched
The spider-carriage thing. I feel like that could’ve been a Disney reference instead
Gabo was still my favorite out of the teens. Bazeema was sweet too
Also. Halzeema moments were actually in canon.
Sabino did not act 100 at all.
Crushing wishes did nothing to people except make them sad for .2 seconds
Asha’s drawing, her magic wand, none of that was important to the actual plot
I feel like the horses could’ve been Disney references too
Why did the roof open? That was never explained
Mag’s hair needed to be messier. Evil Magnifico? Crazy hair
How did he hear them from all the way down there
Mag’s really out there beating up a minor
The curse rope green things were not scary at all
Was Simon just in the forest the entire time?
The Magnifico getting sucked inside his staff… I feel that could’ve been a play to Dr. Facilier somehow
The stars raining down were beautiful
Was Star’s nose tap a reference to something?
The people’s talking… idk how I felt about that
WE 👏 SHOULD’VE 👏 SEEN 👏 SAKINA’S 👏 WISH
Another half-assed apology. First Namaari, now you. At least Simon’s was an actual apology. Wait. More of it goes on.
Ok his apology isn’t too bad
How did the staff get all the way down there?
Changed my opinion, Amaya deserved to tell Mag off
Did Mag’s curse break once he was in the mirror? Why did he act sad all of a sudden?
I’ve heard Asha’s movements weren’t finalized until later, but her movements seem pretty fluent
Clumsy and energetic, sure, but besides from the mouth drooping part, she wasn’t that quirky
Which. Could be a bad thing. She didn’t really have much of a personality
I like the Peter Pan building a flying machine idea
Zootopia ref
DARIO. SHUT UP
Why does everyone suddenly understand Star
But off-topic they were so cute
“It” I guess
Why refer to Star as an it
“They” was too woke for the Disney execs? Why, you had a one-second offhand comment about a water cousin who’s nonbinary!
That Cinderella-reference thing… wasn’t slow enough to be a dress transformation. So I’m fine with her not having a different dress. I mean obviously I would’ve loved it but idk
SHOW DON’T TELL, DISNEY
STOP TELLING
“I understand you well enough” I DON’T! HOW ARE THEY TELLING YOU
Some of Valentino’s jokes were funny. Sue me
I liked the Tinkerbell and Mikey Mouse reference at the end
The storybook was a nice callback
The credits should’ve been moving. Also CHOOSE BAYMAX TO REPRESENT BIG HERO 6. WHY HAVE VILLAINS LIKE MALEFICENT THERE
Overall. Not as bad as people are making it out to be. But definitely not worthy to be Disney’s 100
I’d say… 7/10. The backgrounds did look watercolor, but the shading seemed off in places. Especially Sakina. There was major improvement to be done, but with the hell the execs were giving (and the proven creativity of the concept art) I feel this movie is getting too much hate. Critiques and criticism are fine. But don’t blame the writers for getting rid of Starboy. Yes, it could’ve been better. But it’s Disney. And the creators tried their best to pour their love into a movie that they didn’t have a full say in.
