There are many different experiences that cause girls to relinquish their true selves. In early adolescence girls learn how important appearance is in defining social acceptability. Attractiveness is both a necessary and a sufficient condition for girls' success. This is an old, old problem. Helen of Troy didn't launch a thousand ships because she was a hard worker. Juliet wasn't loved for her math ability.

Oof. This was a tough one to make.
Audio starts halfway, more below the read more.
It's been hard lately. I generally don't swim in the angst pool often because I'm so susceptible to drowning, but I had this idea for a while and channeling my pain into it was a little helpful.
I have this headcanon that because technically the threat of the Dead Three is taken care of, Withers can no longer willy nilly just revive the group. This death? It's final. They knew that going in.
But maybe. . maybe Astarion can believe in the gods one more time, if it meant getting her back.
Ophelia is mine. She is a bard. 🖤

"Girls know they are losing themselves... Girls become fragmented, their selves split into mysterious contradictions. They are sensitive and tenderhearted, mean and competitive, superficial and idealistic. They are confident in the morning and overwhelmed with anxiety by nightfall. They rush through their days with wild energy and then collapse into lethargy,. They try on new roles every week: this week the good student, next week the delinquent and the next, the artist.”

I made a meta post about Ophelia like 3 years ago on a blog I have since deleted. Here's me trying to rewrite it without the twitterspeak.
I feel like a semi-popular take back when LB2 first came out on NA was that Ophelia was not actually in love with Kirschtaria, that she had mistaken admiration for love out of compulsive heterosexuality, and that she was actually in love with Mash.
I think the first two parts of that statement just straight up aren't true. It's a cool idea, but I just don't think you can dismiss her feelings for him as fake without dismissing her arc entirely? At that point, it's just a different character.
Ophelia isn't mistaking admiration for love; the entire first half of her arc is the reverse, with people constantly trying to get her to admit that she is in love as she insists that the only thing she feels for Kirschtaria is admiration. "Admiration" isn't consistent with the weird, singleminded devotion she has towards him. This is pointed out. She eventually admits she is bullshitting you.
Yes, it's true that she makes no real attempt to act on her feelings for him, but she makes no real attempt to act on her feelings about literally anything... which is, you know, the point of her character arc. She doesn't love Kirschtaria because a relationship between them will never happen; I think it's more accurate to say that the impossibility of those feelings are why she refuses to admit she loves him, and why it's so important to her development that she does.
So she expresses her feelings for Kirschtaria by doing her best to advance his goals. It's the only way she knows how. But her behavior towards Mash is actually kind of similar; she debuffs her own servant when he attacks her (knowing damn well that the whole Lostbelt is screwed if he "dies"). That's a bit much for "I want to be her friend." On her deathbed and throughout the Lostbelt, she herself admits that her feelings for Kirschtaria and her "desire to befriend" Mash are in direct conflict; she can't commit to fighting Mash, but she can't betray Kirschtaria, either. It's an either/or. She's being pulled in opposite directions.
Almost as if her feelings for Mash and her feelings for Kirschtaria are similar.
Ophelia doesn't even know Kirschtaria that well. They didn't talk much in Chaldea, no matter how much she wished to. They aren't particularly close. All she really knows is that he risked his life to revive the other Crypters, but that's just one moment she has zero context for. Why would she be in love with him?
Ophelia doesn't know a single thing about Mash except for the general circumstances of her creation, which she can see herself in. They didn't talk at all in Chaldea, no matter how much Ophelia wished to. The Mash she sees now, in front of her in the Lostbelt, is an entirely different person -- strong, beautiful, self-assured, nothing like Ophelia. An enemy that must be defeated at all costs. Why would Ophelia want to get closer to her?
And with Mash, you can read it how you wish -- platonic or romantic doesn't matter so much. The irrational part of Ophelia's feelings for Mash is that they exist in the first place, where the irrational part of her feelings for Kirschtaria is that they're specifically romantic. It makes sense for Ophelia to admire Kirschtaria's power, and it makes sense for her to admire him as a person. These are consistent with the stories she tells about herself. But it doesn't make sense that she's in love with Kirschtaria, and that's why it's important that she does. It doesn't make sense that she'd want to be friends (or more) with Mash; that's why it's important that she does. I'm sure the intention is "just friends", but the way it's positioned in the story -- in opposition to Ophelia's loyalty to Kirschtaria -- implies much more. So YMMV.
Ophelia is ashamed of herself for having feelings she can't explain, for being hopelessly devoted to a man she barely knows, for selfishly wanting to get closer to a sworn enemy. She hates herself for having these desires because she knows they'll never be realized. She's supposed to be competent! She's supposed to have her shit handled! She shouldn't be preoccupied with regrets and impossibilities. That's the central conflict of her emotional development; the "irrationality" is precisely what makes those emotions important.
Her feelings for Kirschtaria and her feelings for Mash are, ultimately, two sides of the same coin. Either/or. So I think that acknowledging Ophelia's feelings for Kirschtaria as valid actually strengthens the argument that she's in love with Mash.
She's torn between her feelings for two people. She doesn't have the strength of will to fully commit to fighting Mash, but she'll never betray Kirschtaria, either. She can't decide whether she loves or resents her parents. She can't decide whether she wants to interact with or shun others.
Ophelia's problem is that she lacks the confidence, maturity, and resolve to follow through on her own emotions. She can't be true to herself. But her emotions contradict themselves, and she herself doesn't know what being "true to herself" would actually look like. So the resolution isn't just to pick a side and stick to it...
Ophelia's coming-of-age story is about having the confidence to acknowledge her own feelings, the maturity to understand that they're still valid despite being irrational, and the resolve to know that she's no less of a person because of it. Yes, she and Kirschtaria wouldn't be a good match. Yes, the idea that she and Mash could have any sort of relationship considering the circumstances is bizarre. But those feelings exist, and there's nothing wrong with her for having them.
She thinks Mash and Kirschtaria are an either/or, but those desires can exist simultaneously. She's fine the way she is, contradictions and all. And it's only when she realizes that that she's able to get up and stop Surtr.
TLDR: Ophelia's feelings for Kirschtaria and her feelings for Mash are inextricably linked because they occupy the same role in Ophelia's character arc. I think she is probably bisexual. I wish she got more screentime. I reread her FLB chapter and now she's my favorite Crypter again.

Q in TikTok by Norvic:
I'm not sure if my question would sound weird. But, next QnA (If u want) can I get an explanation of the differnces between Dodo's past version of-
Walden and Mom's current version. I've been in the fandom for a while but sadly failed at paying attention so I'm a bit lost. Thx in advance!
Ans:
A brief explanation of RF Wally evolution. ( All arts by Dodo )
We have the beta version, the 1st design.
2nd Version, the redesigned: much taller, longer hair, robotic? prosthetic arm, sometimes even with a scruff.
3rd Version: shortened and recoloured hair, red pants, and skeletal prosthetic arm, much more menacing??? — ( formerly to be the design of the WH Behind the Rainbows which took the Bad Ending route, —but was changed to be Dodo’s own project or story out of the WH fandom ).
Dodo had planned for different endings, The True Ending and The Happy Ending, which either one where he remarries Julie and revives Ophelia, his daughter, and in the other ending where he ends up with his Assistant.
And the Bad Ending, where Walden regenerates a skeletal prosthetic arm, loses his memories of the ones he loved, and goes berserk.
YourInternetMom uses the 2nd Design of RF Wally, and has confirmed there is only one canon timeline ending in the revamped which hasn’t been revealed yet. ( out of her Welcome to the Rainbow Factory fanfic of course ).
With slight few changes.
-Confirmed that YourInternetMom’s Walden is autistic.
-Less cat-like behaviours compared to Dodo’s Walden. ( he’s immune to catnip and doesn’t get drunk on milk anymore, but still consists of his occasional purring, toe beans, dilating of pupils, being puffed up during winter season ).
-Aged down to 35.
- Made out of 75% coffee.
-Canon he doesn’t smoke nor does he like it, and he can’t cook.
Changes in the storyline would be:
-From what I’ve heard, in Dodo’s version, Walden’s mom died from drinking poisoned tea given by him unknowingly, but planned by Wallace.
-In InternetMom’s version, it’s the same concept, but Francine, Walden’s mom, knew about the poison and the deal Wallace had with Harold, to make his son successful in life in exchange for Francine’s. Wallace didn’t know she knew.
-Dodo’s version was Walden and Julieanne falling in love and getting married after adopting Ophelia.
-but in InternetMom’s version; Walden and Julieanne were in an arranged marriage somewhere around 18-20 years old by their parents and didn’t see much of each other as romantic interests, except later on on Julieanne’s part. They got divorced 5 years later. ( I think??? )
-Dodo’s version of Walden losing his arm was from a tree that fell on him when he was 18.
-InternetMom’s version was him losing his arm to a machinery he tried to fix when he was 15, and Barnaby was there to help him out. ( The machinery accident was purposely caused by Harold/ Home ).
-In Dodo’s version, Ophelia’s death was caused by a sudden seizure and Walden found her.
-In InternetMom’s version, Ophelia died by falling into the grinder chasing a butterfly while Walden was preoccupied by late work stuff— but the seizure was kept as a cover-up from Walden of how she actually died. ( The butterfly and the grinder turning on was from Home btw 💀 bro really loves messing with the Darling Family ).
That’s all I know by far. You can always ask @therealdelacey for more info that’s been revealed. I’m not sure if I got all of them correct.
Edit: I forgot 💀
-In Dodo’s version of Home, we almost didn’t know much, he was either really caring or just evil during Waldne 2nd design, — but he also evolved in the Bad Ending timeline, Home/Harold being more of Pacifist, and “IT” being the evil Alter Ego of Home.
-In InternetMom’s version of Home/Harold, he’s evil. Bro has been messing with the Darling Family for YEARS! Just for fun.

Do Unova and M&M's Sivith have shared babytwo trauma?
They both have their own trauma when it comes to babytwos, and while their respective babies both died per se, Ophelia was revived through some unsavoury experimentation to create Okita.
I.e. Unova still has her daughter to an extent. Just didn't know she was somewhat alive.
Anyways, a little support group artwork for them. No words between them have to be exchanged, they both just know eachothers past.
Sivith belongs to @mewtwoandme
Rest in peace, Louie.

The actress Mary Ure was born on February 18th 1933 in Glasgow.
Born Eileen Mary Ure, she was educated at the city’s Laurel Bank School. She then went to the independent Mount School in York, and early in her school career showed an aptitude for the theatre.
At the age of 16, on the recommendation of the headmistress of Mount School, Ure was chosen to play the Virgin Mary in a revival of the Cycle of Mystery Plays, which date from the Middle Ages. They were presented in York as part of the Festival of Britain in 1951. If you ever get the chance go see them, they are performed at York Museum Gardens, with the backdrop of the 11th century St Mary’s Abbey in the city, the next performance is in 2022, I saw them in September 1978 when I was a mere 13!
Anyway after her performance the producers, impressed with her talent, arranged for Miss Ure to study at London’s Central School of Speech Training and Dramatic Art, where she stayed three years.
Ure’s professional stage debut came in 1954 in Manchester and that same year she was seen on a London stage for the first time as the star of Jean Anouilh’s “Time Remembered.” Shakespearean roles as Ophelia to Paul Scofield’s Hamlet in 1955 and Desdemona and Titania followed.
In 1956 she was cast in Look Back In Anger, a pivotal play of the 1950s, and transferred with the play to Broadway, where she received a Tony award nomination. In 1959 she appeared in the film version, opposite Richard Burton. She married the writer of Look Back In Anger, John Osborne, after having begun an affair with him during rehearsals for the play. In 1959 she began an affair with the actor Robert Shaw, and married him in 1963. In between some great theatrical performances she appeared in three films with Shaw. It wasn’t until 1968 that she landed a role in a film that was a huge hit, appearing once more with Richard Burton in Where Eagles Dare.
Her last film role was in 1973. By that time she was struggling with alcoholism and marital problems. In 1975, after the opening night of a new London play, she overdosed on alcohol and sleeping pills (It’s not known whether this was deliberate). Her death was listed as an accidental overdose of whisky and tranquillisers or suicide. She was but 42 and left behind 6 children. Contrary to popular belief she is not buried in the cemetery on London Road, Coventry. Her actual burial is unknown - probably kept private by the family.
Ure was only the second Scottish actress to be nominated for an Oscar after Deborah Kerr for her role in the 1960 film Sons and Lovers. I think it’s a shame she is largely forgotten, or overlooked nowadays, possibly due to her tragic death at a young age.
