How I used to love the dark, sad evenings of late autumn and winter, how eagerly I imbided their moods of loneliness and melancholy when wrapped in my cloak I strode for half the night through rain and storm, through the leafless winter landscape, lonely enough then too, but full of deep joy, and full of poetry.
Hermann Hesse, from “Steppenwolf”

I feel entirely dehumanized by the sun now and wish for fog, snow, rain and humanity.

how do i let people know that fall is my favorite season, not in a pumpkin spice way but in a “the snow in the mountains was melting and bunny had been dead for several weeks” kind of way?

once Fredrich Nietzsche said "I notice that Autumn is more the season of the soul than of nature" while Fyodor Dostoevsky said "how gladly I watched the summer fade, the leaves turn yellow on the trees, and the grass dry out over the wide steppe! summer is gone at last! the winds of autumn howl and groan, the first snow falls in whirling flakes."

How beautiful the season is now – How fine the air. A temperate sharpness about it. Really, without joking, chaste weather – Dian skies – I never lik’d stubble fields so much as now – Aye better than the chilly green of the Spring. Somehow a stubble-plain looks warm – in the same way that some pictures look warm –
John Keats, from a letter to John Reynolds, dated 21 September 1819 featured in The Selected Letters of John Keats

I think some people forget that some literature and some media is meant to be deeply uncomfortable and unsettling. It's meant to make you have a very visceral reaction to it. If you genuinely can't handle these stories then you are under no obligation to consume them but acting as if they have no purpose or as if people don't have a right to tell these stories, stories that often relate to the darkest or most disturbing parts of life, then you should do some introspection.
