Ingin terlihat sempurna saat sedang berbicara didepan banyak orang merupakan clear goals, terutama untuk para pelajar ketika melaksanakan presentasi. Namun tahukah kalian mindset 'kesempurnaan/perfectionism' dapat menjerumuskan kita kedalam kegagalan (lingkup public speaking.) Kali ini aku akan mereview mindset ATM. Sumbernya aku dapat dari video pada sekmen AEE bersama Don Colliver seorang konsultan komunikasi.

Tujuan mindset ini untuk menciptakan gravitasi baru yakni keindahan saat presentasi tanpa banyak tekanan pikiran.

Step yang pertama adalah mengakui (Acknowledge). Don memberikan contoh dengan personal storynya. Saat ia harus memberikan pidato dihari memori ibunya. Ia bingung, apakah harus berpidato dengan elegan (mengingat ia adalah ahli komunikasi)? padahal ini hari kematian yang seyogyanya memberikan sentuhan emosi untuk mengenang beliau (ibunya.) Lalu apa yang dilakukan Don? iapun berpidato selayaknya sehingga 'authenticity/keaslian' dan 'vulnerability/kena' sampai kpd audiens. Jika diimplementasikan, kalian mempresentasikan materi sebagaimana jauhnya pemahaan kalian dan bahasa kalian. Sehingga tidak terpaku slide.

Step kedua sekaligus yang ketiga adalah bertanggungjawab dan lanjutkan (Take a responsibility and Move) Ini bisa dilakukan jikalau ada masalah teknis yang terjadi, contoh jika slide mati secara tiba-tiba, akui bahwa ada kesalahan teknis dan buat audiens mengerti bahwa 'kamu bisa mengatasinya dan semuanya ada dibawah kendalimu' Setelah itu kalian bisa lanjutkan presentasimu (move.) dan buat keyakinan dalam dirimu 'mereka (audiens) akan melupakannya'.

In honor of the shows return in December, from an almost 5 year hiatus... Let's talk about The International Worldwide Biscuit Review Podcast from @definitelyhumanproductions . A little different from other podcasts I've reviewed, The International Worldwide Biscuit Review Podcast is a funny, non-fiction show where the two Davids from Definitely Human Productions (authors of The Bunker, MarsCorp, The Infinite Bad, etc.) eat British biscuits, cookies, and things that *might* secretly be cakes (shhh) for appearance, edibility, dunkability, and biscuitness. The guys bring their dark nihilist humor to bare on everything from chocolate digestives to Oreos and everything in between. Some are delicious, some are barely palettable, and for 10 seconds one of the Davids considered a break from Britishness when he discovered the amazing change of dunking an Oreo in milk instead of tea! 🤯 Luckily other David shamed him out of it. Oreos are the 4th of July episode (God Bless America). And it is the funniest IMO (God bless America). Though their Christmas mince pie/booze tastings where their guests try to show them the joy of Christmas à la Dickens, is a close second. Is it appropriate to dunk the cookies/biscuits of countries without a tea culture in tea?? Who could say. What is the ephemeral ideal of "biscuitness" and how does it apply to non-british snacks? How far can David push his theme of wearing a suit and using "Richard Nixon" facts as an excuse while other David wears a series of very warm costumes for recording? Hi - so this all started because I was bored out of my mind at home 3 weeks ago.I watched an episode of Impact Theory (if you haven’t seen that on YouTube go watch it, really good). Where one of the people being interviewed talked about getting a notebook and writing lists of 10 ideas to exercise the creative brain.I went into my drawer found an empty notebook and embarked on this journey.I wrote down “10 ideas for cold emailing”. I came up with like 6 good ones and then I realized how hard it is to come up with 10 of anything.Anyway - at that point I decided I was going to test these out. I decided to pursue the real estate niche since that’s something I’m familiar with and already have clients in that field.And I decided to sell my lead generation services to them. Basically free buyer/seller real estate leads that I charge $1500 per month per client.So now that I had that narrowed down. I went online and learned how to use a software called UIPath and wrote a bot to scrape real estate agents emails from the internet. (I could’ve just paid someone on fiver to do this for me, but why not I had a lot of free time)I then sent out 100 emails of each template.The results: Open rates varied from like 8% to 20%And I only got responses for the podcast.So I did what any sane person would do and I bought a podcasting mic and scheduled the interviews.So now I have a real estate podcast.I interviewed the first 2 people and one of them signed me on for a 1,500/ month deal.It was surprising to me how reciprocity kicked in and the type of questions I was getting about the work that I do, etc.I uploaded a video to my Youtube channel here and there you can find the email templates I used as well for FREE.https://youtu.be/WjvwRdDePhgI then decided to scale and send 400 more of the podcast emails and landed 5 more interviews (all scheduled for next week). Hey y'all! What happens when you cross what is supposed to be a cheerful holiday with a twist of horror? You get, Krampus. Krampus is said to be St. Nicholas's shadow. The two work together, visiting children at night. While the good children get a visit from Santa, the bad/naughty children get a visit from Krampus, receive a beating with birch rods, tossed into a basket, and are dragged to the underworld. That's some incentive to be good year round. You can hear Krampus coming with the jingle of his bells and chains - charming. While I wouldn't mind a trip to the Underworld (because I'm unhinged, I'm sure the sane population wouldn't want to experience that, as a review of how they've behaved all year. Then again...it would straighten out a lot of this shit that we see in this world. Hmm...thoughts. Any-who, season's greetings y'all!
