breaking news from our friends in the uk, it appears that an unknown spacecraft has descended into our atmosphere. we're getting live video now.

reports out of nasa are saying that this ship IS from our planet, it is NOT an alien, so you can rest easy folks.

according to nasa, the path of the craft will cause it to land somewhere near moscow in russia. it is falling at a steady rate. again, no country has claimed this space craft at this time. we will update you with information. i imagine our air force are gearing up just in case, todd.

the unnamed space craft has touched down in russia surprisingly gently. you can see in the video here it's using some kind of air pressure to slow its descent. nasa still has no information about where this craft comes from. it seems to be updated with technology not recognized by nasa.

intelligence out of russia reports that, against all odds, the dog is in fact laika. for those who don't know, laika was famously shot into space on a test rocket in 1957. somehow she has survived out there in space after all these years. i don't know how that's possible, but we're getting confirmation that this is indeed the same craft. she's coming out of the shuttle now...

The game is outstanding so far and I love it. But very very brutal. Which is something I enjoy, but I encourage everyone who wants to play to be cautious!! Listen to the trigger warnings it gives it's violent. Gorgeous and fun, but dark and violent.

just came to the startling realization how similar leola and agatha's ends/deaths were

both were young, scared girls who were put on an unfair trial without any understanding for what they've done (agatha practicing her magic and leola sharing hers)

they were separated from their parents (agatha was with her mom and leola was outside of her and her father's home)

they were both KILLED in a horrific way and vengeance was sought out after their deaths. (agatha got her own revenge while aaravos currently commits crimes to avenge his daughter)

all im saying is that i never expected a cartoon from netflix to have a similar storyline to a movie from laika studios but hey im not complaining.

yessss oh my gosh always, gladly. so honored you would ask little ol me about such a thing... i haven't been reading much lately so here's just a little list of things ive picked up in the past few months or things i've liked for a long time..... all of them are on mangadex so just look em up... fool night yasuda kasumi !!! it's currently ongoing and i recently got caught up... if i had to describe it in two words.. "post-chainsawman." it's very similar in a lot of ways, but has very different priorities.. what i really like about it is that it has kind of a tighter focus on the "poverty and capitalism" angle that chainsawman definitely covers but doesn't really devote its full attention to. in a world where the sun no longer shines, plants can't grow, so humans are constantly at a deficit of oxygen... to combat this, government facilities offer a payout to desperate people who can't afford to live if they allow themselves to be "transflorated" -- basically fed on by a magical spiritual plant that will eventually kill them and release oxygen in their stead. one such desperate person undergoes the procedure only to find he has the special ability to communicate with transflorated bodies after theyve passed... and then he becomes a Plants Detective and shenanigans ensue. Super good it made me cry... art is beautiful..... definitely worth a read if youre looking to pick up something ongoing

babel no toshokan by tsubana - stumbled upon this after reading the artist's other work "wakusei closet" on a whim... this shorter story is much preferred and has engraved itself deeply on my heart. a girl with a strange set of beliefs about reality enters a strange relationship with a boy who can read everything that's ever been written just by touching an identical sheath of paper..... seriously so good. give it a go if you want something short and sweet

planet laika & scorched earth of love by mayuri yoshida, this is a short manga and one shot bundled with it that has been one of my favorites for like FOUR YEARS NOW!!! mayuri yoshida's sickly cute animal people + loving intricate lineart combine to create a really unique visual aesthetic. its about the titular laika , as in, the dog launched into space, who has since become the ruler of a planet of dogs, and her plot to take revenge on humanity. also she has a lesbian wife. the one shot is so good too SO DONT MISS IT!!!

anyone who has heard me talk about comics for the past year or so probably knows i've been trying to get Just yknow everybody on earth to read dead dead demon's dedededestruction by inio asano. nothing i could ever possibly say about it could do it justice it's seriously my favorite manga of all time. it's about being in love with your best friend and the end of the world and aliens and politics and the internet and stuff. asano's art is truly breathtaking and unlike anything else on earth, the characters are all infectiously lovable, and it's just like... endlessly life affirming and heals my heart in a way i have a hard time articulating.

and last one... not strictly manga but i have really enjoyed keeping up with wanan's webcomic no home recently... its a long one, but i read about 275 chapters of it in like 3 days, because it's that hard to put down, LOL... extremely inspiring character writing and also just insanely fun, eunyung became an all time favorite character of mine on impact and it has one of those casts where you can't help but have fun watching them be together in literally any situation. it's about a bunch of kids with shitty family situations trying to figure out to learn to live with eachother. its an extremely good example of mundane character drama being written so compellingly that it will make you start slamming your head on walls at work. Speaking from experience.

Percy Jackson Characters Explained by Dogs

So, after reading this post about how Percy Jackson is actually terrifying, but we (the readers) don't notice it as much because we're always on his side, I commented that certain dogs can explain it more visually. So, I decided to make it into a post (with images). Now, here we are, putting dog photos next to PJO-HoO characters. Here we go:

Percy Jackson = Caucasian Shepherd or Belgian Mallinois

He’s a sweetheart to family and FAMILY ONLY. To everyone else, he will label you as a threat until proven otherwise. (Also, I just realized Percy fits the Mastiff type dogs perfectly, which is what Mrs. O'Leary is).

2. Nico di Angelo = Dalmatian

He’s not seen as violent, but every now and again he will tear someone or something to shreds. Which, coming from a "harmless-looking" individual, makes him creepy. (Ironically, Nico went to Dalmatia in HoH).

3. Jason Grace = Rhodesian Ridgeback

He will stare down and hunt down lions, but is not known for violent outbursts. (I just realized it also fits his "raised by wolves" bit, since the RRs need good socialization to be stable).

4. Annabeth Chase = Border Collie/Dingo

She's highly intelligent, fierce, adaptable, and extremely intimidating when focused on a task (usually involving hunting of some kind). Also, the size difference between Percabeth is an added bonus. (Can you imagine the tiny Dingo with the giant CS curled around it?)

5. Reyna Avila Ramírez-Arellano = Greyhound

She's dominant, laser-focused, and will chase down her goal, no matter who or what stands in her way.

6. Leo Valdez = Basenji or Nureongi

He's slightly out of place (Basenjis don't bark, but yodel) with a very dark past (Nureongis are only bred for dog meat), but has the personality of a sweetheart with a hidden fire.

7. Hazel Levesque = American Foxhound

She's good around horses, and feels comfortable in both violence and family.

8. Frank Zhang = Dogo Argentino or Aksaray Malaklisi

He doesn’t seem intimidating at first glance, but a closer inspection reveals a strong ferocity that has killed many beasts (also, he's freaking huge).

9. Piper McLean = Calupoh

She's extremely beautiful, which allows her to get away with certain things that would otherwise turn some heads (reference to her charmspeak, as well as her desire for revenge).

10. Thalia Grace = Carolina Dog, Siberian Laika, Canaan Dog, Brazilian Caramel, or Indian Pariah

She's too wild to stay in one spot, but always close by whenever someone needs assistance.

So, yeah, that's what I got so far. I might make some more in the future, but we'll see.

PS: I changed the "were" to "are", since some companies in Korea still breed Nureongis for meat only.

Absolutely my favourite LAIKA film. It's about found family, it's about capitalism. It's got goofy goobers who live in a sewer. I love the characters, I love the message. I love everything about it and not nearly enough people I have talked to even know what it is! It is a wonderful film and if you haven't watched it already I highly recommend it!

Mamoru Oshii is the masterful hand that created what ghost in the shell is today. This is a personal project of his and he has had this series in his teeth since the 80's and refuses to let it go.

"Games aren't fun any more"

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and I think it's good to have discussions rather than getting angry at others for not lining up with you. But I just can't agree with this notion.

Usually whenever people make such statements they typically have a overly simple view of the industry. Seeing the triple AAA scenes as nothing more than just shooters, narrative games, live service titles and Nintendo. And I'm sure many people have seen that image claiming that all indies are just Earthbound inspired RPGs, rogue-likes or Pizza Tower.

Things are not that simple though. You're going to have to dig deeper than just what's regularly advertised to you or what shows up on your feed. Since the new decade started we've been getting more variety than what the 2010s were offering.

Hi-fi Rush, Pseudoregalia, Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2, Crash 4, Corn Kidz 64, Laika: Aged through Blood, Endoparasitic, Freedom Planet 2, Neon White, Shredder's Revenge, Madness Project Nexus, Mighty Fight Federation, Crumble, Pumpkin Jack, Noita, Man Eater, Ultrakill, Fight Crab, Carrion and It Steals are just a few fun games I got on Steam that all came out in the 2020s.

And who said you had to play new games anyway? Steam has many older games available for cheap like Doom 1993 or Half-Life. There are even some games I didn't think would even be on their like this shovelware Wii game called Martian Panic and an Atari Jaguar game called Attack of the Mutant Penguins. There are multiple game collections to try to like Namco Museum, Contra Anniversary Collection, SEGA Genesis and Atari Vault just waiting to be tried.

There are many resell stores too. And yes, I know that many like to rank up the prices but my best advice is to go in an browse rather than trying to look for a specific title. I find that a PS2 or classic Xbox and their games are way cheaper than what they often charge for GameCubes and their library. Plus there's a lot more variety too. I was able to get Assassin's Creed 1-3 and Brotherhood on the PS3 for just 20 bucks.

I want to make a post about browsing in retro game stores instead of going in to look for specific games but one thing I love about it is the sense of discovery. I'll find weird games I didn't even know existed for only 5 or 10 dollars. What's Scaler? What's Zapper? What's Pirate's Legend of the Black Buccaneer? I have no idea but they were like 5 bucks each. Even if I don't enjoy them at least I didn't spend that much on them.

Games are still fun. You just need to stop focusing on what's shoved into your feed or think that you have to exclusively enjoy new games.

Now excuse me I've got 18 chapters left in Nightmare Before Christmas Oogie's Revenge to beat.

ART FIGHT SUMMARY 2024, SUCKAHS!

Second year of ArtFight and the first year I went all in on it. As opposed to my 4 attacks from 2023, this year I submitted 13! Before that, though, I gotta share others' attacks against me.

First, of course, is the lovely @pixel-exchange of Team Stardust who somehow managed to pump out *4* banger attacks against me this year! We were in a heated revenge war, which he ultimately beat me at, but I don't mind much, with how awesome his stuff was. I love how each turned out. I think my favorite may have been "Alone on the Moon", featuring my astronaut dog gal, Laika.

Second person to attack was @headphones-lifeform of Team Stardust who made this adorable bust of my Star Trek OC, Nurse Telos! He just looks wonderful, mad shoutouts to them!

Third is from a mutual of mine who actually attacked me in 2023; Croconiles from Stardust! (Twitter/Insta) He drew my skunk OC, Stripes, and she turned out heckin' excellent! Love that eyeshadow and the big nose.

Fourth is this hilarious little piece for my boy Werner by fellow Trekkie, @lyroart of Stardust! Love how goofy and weird his expression here is. Perfect for him with how wacky he is.

And lastly, we got this cute wittle pixel art profile for Laika from RevlisFox on Team Stardust. (CharHub) Looks super cute and I could totally imagine having something like this for a little family chart or the like.

Now, to move onto my attacks, firstly I have my revenge war with Pixel-Exchange. Big fan of how the first 2 looked, but the third was admittedly rushed. Still though, mate has some sweet designs.

Second, I have my attacks against LyRo the goat. Drew some of their Star Trek OCs. Calvin had my favorite design (guess why) but I really enjoyed Ena's personality, so I attacked em both!

Next we have my revenge against Headphones. I really liked this design for Niph in particular (guess why) and I really liked the concept for a cave-dwelling crewmate. Felt weird drawing props for once lol.

Next revenge was for Croconiles, with his silly little OC couple, Darby and Animal. Felt like it'd be fun to draw two characters interacting, and I like how they look in my style. Plus I just love the slight texture on his art.

And, the last of my revenges here is one against RevlisFox with this art of a character whose name I forgot. 😰 SORRY the character page got privated, I gotta wait until it's back up again. In any case, this was my final attack this year, and though a simple one, idk I kinda liked how it turned out.

So, moving away from revenges, here's my plain ol' attacks against artists I like!

First are my attacks against Keiiphobix (YT/Insta) of Team Stardust! No joke, one of my new favorite artists on AF. Just wicked good, man! I drew his lil guy, Maurice (ISTG HE IS THE CUTEST FUCKING THING EVERRRRR) and Joy, who is the just spikiest fella ever <3

Next was Callum by PeculiarPossom (Twitter/Etsy) of Team Seafoam! Just a skinny freaky lil possum drummer boy. I can relate to his struggle of being a drummer with no band lol. Fun fact: I was in Canada when I drew this! Shoutout Quebec

After this is art of le bird boy, Matteo, owned by a YouTuber I watch, RedPanda Master! (YT/DA) I initially fell in love with them for their silly lil WoF shitposts, but I thought Matteo was just adorable, and a must-draw! They have some awesome fantasy designs, but a lotta them were too complex for me, so I naturally settled for the easiest and cutest one.

And finally, we come to the end of this longass megapost and arrive at my attack of @asrielwithans on Team Stardust, and no joke this may be my favorite attack I did. Aside from not really capturing the eeriness of Hollypaw, I love how this turned out. I first saw their Warriors fan content last year and I have been obsessed ever since. That Christmas Kids animation has been on loop in my brain for MONTHS. Their stuff is metal, seriously, Warriors fans and animatic fans, go watch it NOW.

I definitely shoulda split this up into several smaller posts and I probably shouldn't have rambled so much in between the art but DAMN IT, I love all these artists and I needed to talk about each of em.
