The portraits Onoda gathered not only show the varied interior designs in the Plant’s apartments, but also their inhabitants. We chose to publish a select gallery because we were unable to find the contact information for many of the residents. Onoda interpreted this as the Obara Nori maintaining privacy even after the apartments had shut down.

A man by the name of Esfir stopped us at a café in Myrilsk and handed us an envelope of photographs. “Beregrad” was written on the front of the envelope in a messy scrawl. After examination we concluded that these images are technicians and operators from Zoya’s Beregrad and other mechanical control rooms. They are reminiscent of portraits by Slava Ilin (Слава Ильин), a photographer who became famous after his work with the Soyuz Go Team. The names of the subjects are provided below, along with minor details about their work inside Zoya Vaslova. Many documents were destroyed when Zoya became inactive, erasing the official titles and work procedures of over 300 Plant engineers.
