WARNING: MAJOR BEETLEBABES SPOILERS
I had fun watching this film. It was great seeing the OGs again, it was funny and it had a good script BUT I have to give this movie 7/10 because the pacing was off for the first half of the film and because of the two unnecessary Babyjuice scenes (We'll get to more of that in a bit.)
It just felt rushed and Beetlejuice and Lydia's scenes were limited. Yes, we knew from the get go that Keaton's scenes would be confined because that's how he wanted it but I just like complaining. lol
Before Lydia and Beetlejuice officially reunite, he starts spamming her phone with the Day O song playing with Beetlejuice's name in bold pops ups coming up nonstop. This happens when Rory is trying to talk about their wedding and Lydia just isn't in the mood to talk about it.
The first Beetlebabes scene is the "therapy scene" and its also the first Babyjuice scene. Lydia's belly grows quickly, her water breaks and out pops out Babyjuice. It starts crawling around and soon starts biting on Lydia's ankle. You do actually see bloody teethmarks on Lydia's ankle to which Beetlejuice says, "Takes after his dad." and he starts drooling exaggeratingly.
I don't remember the exact wording but Lydia called Beetlejuice "Demented." To which Beetlejuice replies with something like "Well, if me wanting to be with the love of my life is demented then fine I'm demented. Come here, honey." Yes, he actually calls her the love of his life!
He tries to do the gliding thing he did with Lydia during the first movie when he says this. Before Lydia is pulled to his side, she yells, "Home! Home! Home!"
That's when Lydia tries to hurry to get everyone out of the house and out of Winter River but Astrid tells her she has a date and somehow convinces Lydia to drive her to the boy's house. So Delia and Lydia board up the attic door and decide no one goes in and that they'll leave that same night right after Lydia gets married at midnight.
Now as most of us have heard- Astrid's crush has a secret. That secret is...that he's a ghost. Which, I feel so dumb about not guessing it. I should've figured it out when they showed "The Recently Deceased" book thar he claimed he bought at a "yard sale". The boy (can't remember his name) says Lydia can help him come back to life (not through marriage) and says if she travels with him to the Neitherworld, she'll help her see her dad again.
Lydia soon finds out that the boy (I think his name was Jeremy) was not only someone who killed his parents but is also a ghost (through info from Jane the realtor) so she rushes to rescue Astrid but gets there seconds too late. With no other choice she goes back to the Maitlands home and summons Beetlejuice.
The minute Beetlejuice gets Lydia into the afterlife...they're immediately separated right after the "Bonnie and Clyde line. The excuse? Beetlejuice had to "visit the little boy's room" as a plot device so that Lydia and Astrid could reunite with Astrid's deceased father. He's the one that saves them from the sandworm and helps them make up.
It turns out that Jeremy was gonna swap places with Astrid. She would've gone on the Soul Train that takes you to the "Great Beyond" and he would've resurrected as a living person. This takes place at an immigration office. Beetlejuice has kind of a heroic moment where he switched places with the person behind the glass that gives the "stamp of living approval."
When Jeremy looks at the paper that Beetlejuice gives him, it reads "Shit Out of Luck Fucker". XD This part had everyone howling with laughter. Beetlejuice stamps on the paper and that instantly opens the floor beneath Jeremy and sends him to hell.
Astrid's father helped Lydia and Astrid leave the Neitherworld through a portal in a mausoleum that is conveniantlly across from the church that Lydia is supposed to getting married at. Even though she doesn't really want to marry Rory, she decides to do it anyway. Tells Rory she won't change into her wedding dress- that they should just proceed as they are.
That's when Beetlejuice arrives with Delia, pushes her aside and tells her to "Scram!" lol (Earlier in the film, Delia tried to perform a strange love ritual with a pair of snakes that she was told were defanged. Spoiler: they weren't defanged so she died and got sent to the Waiting Room so since she doesn't want to wait there for ages, she summons Beetlejuice who agrees to help her if he can help her find his "runaway bride".)
Beetlejuice proceeds to drug Rory by stabbing his neck with a syringe and this somehow makes Rory confess whata scumbag he is and how he was just using Lydia for money. Another interesting moment where Beetlejuice is being "helpful" in his own way."
So the next five minutes are just as chaotic as Jenna Ortega described. And remember how we all had speculated that Beetlejuice wouldn't waste time with a song and dance and would try to get through the vows as fast as he could? We were wrong. Beetlejuice apparently thought he had all the time in the world as he starts to lip sync "MacArthur Park" and even had Lydia lip syncing the song to him. His make up got all runny as he wept at his own wedding.
They dance and then Wolf and his SWAT team crash the wedding followed by Delores storming in and Beetlejuice tells her, "It's not you. It's me. I'm just looking for a more soul mate type. You should be with a guy that is more into you."
He magically rips off Rory's shirt to reveal a shirt underneath that says "I Love Delores". Delores is not impressed. And I honestly forgot what happens to Delores but then the Sandworm scene happens and then everything calms down. Lydia, Astrid and Delia try to leave the church but Beetlejuice stops them, reminding Lydia that they have a contract. He pulls out the contract.
But then Astrid remembers something Wolf had mentioned earlier about Beetlejuice violating "Code 669" by bringing a living person to the Neitherword so she states that that means his contract with Lydia is null and void. Beetlejuice's contract proceeds to burst into flame.
Lydia steps forward and says "I'm sorry it didn't work out between us." She says something else that I forgot and proceeds to say his name three times and with each call of his name, Beetlejuice's body inflates more and more until he pops.
Delia promises she'll haunt Lydia and Astrid until they're sick of her. Wolf takes her back to the Neitherworld where Delia reunites with Charles's mangled corpse. It then skips to Lydia announcing the last episode of her show so that she can "start living".
Then it shows Lydia and Astrid traveling together. It looks like they're in Romania/Transylvania where Astrid locks eyes with a cute guy. Then a time skip where Astrid is marrying the guy. Another time skip where Astrid is giving birth. This is where it gets weird. She gives birth to Babyjuice that proceeds to start crawling on the walls. That's when Lydia wakes up, relieved that that was a nightmare when suddenly Beetlejuice leans over her in bed and says, "I just had the strangest dream." Lydia gasps and she wakes up again and slowly looks over to her left to see an empty space and no Beetlejuice.
So I'm guessing that's what that one interviewer guy meant when he told Winona "You sorta got your wish at the end." I guess it means Beetlejuice will always be haunting her and playing the long game of waiting for her. I need to discuss this with someone! What do you think of the spoilers? The ending in particular?

My favorite religious beliefs are the ones that neither make a lot of sense nor follow from a straightforward reading of the canonical texts. Dumb ideas that only a very clever person could have come up with.
Top three that I can think of off the top of my head (please add more):
Rabbi Isaac concluding that Melchizedek (a guy who shows up in all of two sentences) must have born circumcised, since he's "salem" (perfect) but was born before the promulgation of the commandment he would have needed to follow in order to be so. Really have to peel back the layers of the text to figure this one out. *ducks*
Immaculate conception. One reading of this is that theologians painted themselves into a corner with original sin and came up with a superfluous non-solution to their self-imposed problem. I guess the other reading is that the Catholic church rejected the Gospel of James as scripture and then canonized its views 1400 years later, as a meditation on the divine mysteries of paraconsistent logic.
What happens when two exclusive cannibals have a baby?: 1. Aristotle thinks most of the aspects of the mind/soul must be physically embodied to exist. The exception is the intellect, but it's unclear whether this "intellect" is compatible with the folk notion of a soul (e.g., personal memories persisting after death). 2. Ibn Rushd (Averroes) answers in the negative. We all have immortal souls, but they're actually just the same soul. All the personally distinctive stuff is the (mortal) body. 3. Thomas Aquinas hates this, but is wedded to Aristotelian philosophy. I can't say I understand his synthesis, but he does insist on a belief in the bodily resurrection in the end times. The embodied parts of your mind/soul are ultimately restored to you; it's only mortal in the short term. 4. Ok, but what happens if you lose an arm? Well, what happens if you lose an arm and someone else eats it? {increasingly elaborate thought experiments about cannibalism and resurrection}

I’ve always been curious about Kate bishops background and would love to hear a paraphrased version if ur okay with it
[Absolutely I can! Just a little disclaimer, I'm doing this mostly from memory, so I may get a few things wrong. But I promise the gist is there, and this has gotten way too long, so uh... part one? I guess? I didn't even get to the vampires. If people are into this. I'll keep going.]
Okay, let’s start with Kate’s backstory.
Tumblr media
The Bishop family has issues. Eleanor, Kate’s mom, is distant but portrayed as a generally good person. She and her husband Derek have an estranged relationship. She travels a lot and is regarded as an activist throughout her life until her untimely death when Kate is still just a kid.
Kate develops admiration for her father. He’s a publishing magnate but it’s soon revealed that he has ties to the crime world. Kate, despite her young age, follows her father to a meeting with El Matador. While there, she gets captured by the crime lord to be held for ransom.
This is where she see’s Clint for the first time, who saves her with the rest of the avengers. She took an instant liking to him because he was the only human on the team without advantages. At this point, she does make Clint her role model and starts to distance herself from her family to focus on activism like Eleanor.
Kate didn’t’ truly start training in combat until she was attacked in Central Park. This kicked off her love of self-defense. She originally felt isolated and in some cannon media, this moment in the park still haunts her beyond belief. (Young Avengers Special #1 [2005]  is a great comic that’s stand alone & shows the mentorship between Jessica Jones and Kate. TW for SA.)
Que the Young Avengers.
Tumblr media
(My personal favorite Kate Bishop Design)
Kate has an older sister that’s been completely written out of the MCU adaptation. Her name is Susan, and she doesn’t have the greatest relationship with Kate, they’re not openly hostile, but they don’t enjoy each other either. Still, Kate is in Susan’s wedding party.
During the wedding, the church comes under fire and the Young Avengers swoop in to save the day. But they awkwardly become hostages themselves and Kate uses one of Patriots throwing stars to get them out of the situation before the police show up.
Kate very ungracefully demands to become a part of the Young Avengers (The original team is: Cassie Lang, Eli Bradley, Tommy Shepard, Billy Kaplan, Nate Richards, and Teddy Altman). Kate originally doesn’t have a hero identity, so she raids the Avengers Mansion and dawns Mockingbirds staves and mask, swordsman’s sword and belt and Hawkeyes abandoned bow.
Captain America and Iron man were not happy about the team and demanded that they disband. But eventually gave in after the Young Avengers refused to back down. Kate was the only one to stand up to Steve and demand that they get better training. He agreed and put Jessica Jones in charge of the team. This is when Kate becomes Hawkeye. Steve gives her the title and the bow. She’s the unofficial leader of the Young Avengers.
What about Clint?
Tumblr media
Dude is dead in the Young Avengers run. Clint makes his valiant return in the massive Civil War event that Marvel comics created. He was resurrected and is absolutely pissed when he finds out that Steve gave his name and his bow away.
Clint actually attacks Kate while she’s on a date with Eli Bradley in Central Park. He’s officially Ronin at this point and is impressed by Kate’s skills after she breaks into his place to steal her bow back. He unofficially (but also totally officially) allows her to take the mantle.
The Children’s Crusade
Tumblr media
I’m skipping a lot of small side quests that Kate takes (even though they’re a lot of fun) because Children’s Crusade is possibly the most important part of her journey, and by the looks of it, is the basis for where the MCU is planning to go in the next few years.
Kate has a really strong friendship with Billy Kaplan, aka Billy Maximoff. He’s the strongest magic being to ever inhabit earth and when his powers become dangerous the Avengers decide to lock him up. That didn’t slide with Kate, and they ended up breaking him out of the tower and entering alternate timelines in search of Billy’s mom- Wanda Maximoff.
This was pure, time-warp chaos. Wanda had forgotten who she was and was about to marry Doctor Doom when the Young Avengers showed up and pulled her out of it. She regained her powers and her memories, coming to terms with Billy and Tommy being her sons.
Once in their original timeline, a massive fight breaks out between the Avengers and the x-men. It’s a whole thing that ends up killing Cassie Lang. Her death ends up disbanding the original Young Avengers who go their separate ways to come to terms with how dangerous being a hero really is.
Matt Fraction? Matt Fraction.
Tumblr media
Listen, if you’re looking for the inspiration behind the general vibe of the show Hawkeye, this is the run for you. If you read anything from Kate’s comic journey, let it be this. You don’t need any prior knowledge to Kate or Clint to enjoy this one and the artwork heavily inspired the intro to the show.
In this series, Clint is the owner of an apartment building that’s since been taken over by the tracksuit mafia. Kate and Clint have an established friendship and the dynamic is very much like the show. But grittier. The series leans into Clint’s deafness and Kate’s trauma. It’s a basis for their relationship.
Los Angeles, baby
Tumblr media
Kate goes to LA a lot. It’s her home away from New York and her arcs there are some of my favorite (it’s a guilty pleasure, honestly). During her run with Matt Fraction’s Hawkeye, she has a particularly bad fight with Clint. She takes Lucky and jets off to the beach to find her niche.
Kate becomes a very cool, very chill private eye for her first solo run; Hawkeye Private Eye. While she does eventually go back to New York to help out Clint, she starts her own business in Los Angeles where she teams up with Jessica Jones and Laura x23. Very fun, very goofy series.
[This took...hours. Literal Hours. But I have access to all the digital archives for Kate so, I'm more than happy to keep going lol]

" Till Death do us Part "
Corpse Bride x Welcome Home AU created by @sketchquill (<3)
Idea: Basically, the ending of the Corpse Bride enacted but with Welcome Home characters. If you haven't seen Sketch's AU, please do check it out! This idea was resurrected from one of Sketch's asks, and it has been bothering me since then. I have rewatched the Corpse Bride (and cried) purely for this writing, so I hope you enjoy!
Reminders: If you haven't gotten the hint yet, this will contain spoilers!! If you have not watched the Corpse Bride, I highly suggest you do so in order to fully understand the story. In this, Wally is the bride (or groom if you will, he'll be referred as such. Don't worry, you'll understand :,>)
The reader in this is gender neutral ^^
I cried while making this
I'll keep quiet and let you read. Enjoy the tears!
♡ ------------- ♡
The chapel was quite. Chairs in various locations. The room was cold. Once held a wedding between you and Wally was harshly interrupted. But now? It was quiet. Just you, Wally, and Howdy.
Wait.. Howdy!!
It felt like ages since you've been able to properly talk to him. It felt so surreal. Despite you only knowing Howdy for barely two days, having to be brought into a forced marriage, you threw your arms around him in a tight embrace, feeling safe and reassured. Howdy hugged you back with all four arms, not wanting to let go.
"Oh, Y/N.. I thought I'd never see you again." Howdy spoke softly. You felt his words wrap around you like a blanket. You let out a content sigh, embracing him just a little longer. You felt safe in his arms, something you haven't felt in so long. But despite the feeling, you felt sick to your stomach. You glanced over at Wally, who was gazing at you two with a smile.
Oh gosh..
You didn't understand it well. It was said that death has parted Wally, but you weren't sure how long he had left, or... if you'll ever see him again. You were wanting to save him, hence why the wedding was held in the first place. You were meant to drink poison, but it was already gone, but not by you. From someone else. You didn't drink it, he refused to let you. Why?
Because Wally knew you loved Howdy.
Wally loved you, but knew you weren't his. You had someone else, someone you should be marrying. Not him. It was true, but it didn't make the heartache any less painful.
You watched him turn and slowly walk away. He was headed towards the exit of the church. Every step he took felt like a stab to your heart. It killed you inside, seeing him walk alone. You couldn't bear to stand there and watch him go. You parted the hug from Howdy and turned to Wally.
"Wait!" You cried out. Wally stopped in his tracks and turned to face you. You already made your way to the groom as he slowly tilted his head.
"I.. Made a promise." You felt a lump in your throat just saying those words.
"Oh, Y/N.." Wally spoke, reaching his left hand in front of him. "You kept your promise."
Before you could say anything, Wally.. took the golden ring off of his finger. That same ring you placed on his finger when you said your vows so perfectly. Just the sight made you emotional.
"You've set me free. So now, I'm setting you free."
Wally gently took your hand into his for a moment and placed the ring on your finger. You stared at your hand with the ring, feeling all sorts of emotions run through you like a rollercoaster. There was a moment of silence before he let go of your hand. You looked at your ring for a moment before turning to Howdy with a large smile.
But the smile didn't last long. You quickly frowned as you slowly hung your head. You looked back at Wally as he walked away, slowly approaching the moonlight that shined through the church.
You felt sadness and guilt. It was then that you realized that while maybe you didn't love him the same way as Howdy, you still grew attached to Wally.
As he inched closer to the exit, you couldn't control yourself any longer.
"Wait!" You cried out again, running towards him.
Wally just about turned around when you immediately threw your arms around him, hugging him tightly.
"Oh! Goodness, me.." Wally fell limp in your arms. For a moment, it made you concerned before hearing his content sigh as he pressed his head against your shoulder.
Tears flooded your eyes, and before you knew it, you slowly began to cry. He immediately noticed when he felt your tears and heard your sniffles.
"Are you crying..?" Wally asked softly. You hugged him tighter for a short moment before letting him go, allowing him to get back on his feet.
You stood in front of Wally, crying. You couldn't help it. He was going away and you don't know if he'll be okay or if you'll ever see him again.
Wally took a small step closer, gently cupping your cheeks with a small smile. You could see him tear up as well.
"Darling, please don't cry.." He spoke softly, wiping away your tears with his thumb. You leaned into his touch, placing your hand over his as you looked at him with sorrow.
"But.. death has parted you. I had the chance to save you.." Your voice trailed off as it became harder to speak. You felt so guilty, it was unbearable. Wally stood quiet for a moment as he kept his gaze locked on you. His expression was soft and geniune, something you admired.
"That may be true, but you'd be much happier with Howdy than me. Besides, you still have your whole life ahead of you."
Wally paused for a moment. You could see him shed a tear.
"I love you, Y/N. But I couldn't allow you to make your sacrifice for me. You deserve to be happy.. even if I can't be yours."
Your heart shattered on the spot. He really did love you, so much that he's willing to slip away just for the sake of your happiness. Curse you and your attachments!
You opened your mouth to speak, but was met with more tears as you squeezed his hand. You knew his time was running short, so you appreciated every last second there was. Wally took a deep breath, slowly letting go of your face.
"I am honored to have met and marry you, but now, I have the honors of saying goodbye."
You let go of his hand, allowing him to take a step back. He took one final look at you, smiling as another tear fell. He waved you goodbye.
Wally turned and took a few steps towards the moonlight. He sighed for a moment before making the exit of the church. You saw him stand there, he looked at the sky, towards the moon. From there, you saw a few butterflies rise up, surrounding Wally. You blinked, now seeing more butterflies. That's when it hit you.
This was him leaving.
You watched as Wally lost his physical form, turning into hundreds of butterflies. The entrance of the church was surrounded with fluttering butterflies. You walked towards the entrance as they flew up in the sky, all slowly departing the church. You reached your hand out, allowing a butterfly to hand on your finger. You examined it and it's colors, all blue and black. A beautiful combination. After a short moment, the butterfly flew away. You had a feeling it was Wally saying his goodbyes to you.
You sniffled st the sight of butterflies all flying away towards the sky. It broke your heart to see it. He was gone, Wally was gone.
You felt a gentle pat on your back, looking up to see Howdy glancing at you. He wasn't mad or upset, nothing like that at all. If anything, he understood. You allowed Howdy to wrap his arms around you in a comforting hug. The two of you watched the remaining butterflies fly away into the night sky.
It was sad, but it was so beautiful.
Perhaps, somewhere..
You'll see him again.
♡ ------------- ♡
I'm not crying, you're crying!
I've tried so hard to not cry at my own writing but hear I am. I hope you guys enjoy!! Feel free to request more stuff like this! Perhaps I'll write more for this AU, I geniunely love it so much.

Driftwood MMC - Year 1 - Summer
Now with Summer over, the crown has collected a grand total of $45,339. Phew! I'm definitely finding the royal treasury is filling up waaaaay faster than expected, so I've raised the thresholds for things being unlocked.
Next season, we get a brand new church and cemetery! Just as well, since this summer we had two deaths and a resurrection. I think this is meant to be just a community lot to visit, but I like playing with owned churches and will be introducing a parson to run services in this parish. Hopefully it will get to host a wedding or two!
I'm also thinking of how to go about unlocking the hedge tavern. I like the idea of it being female-owned if possible, since that was apparently quite common in the middle ages. But I'm not 100% decided on who the settlement's alewife should be. Hopefully I'll figure it out in the fall!

Papa's chasuble colours analysis.
It’s sad to see the fandom so sleepy, so what a better moment to be back with some ramblings…
So, we know each Papa got their own chasuble colour, but is it casually assigned?
In the Catholic church, vestments colours have specific meanings, usually they change based on the celebration or festivity period, so I thought it would be cool to find out if the meanings match in Ghost’s world too.
The colours used by our Papas are:
Papa IV - Blue: Advent. It is a period (usually 24 days) before Christmas. We witnessed his journey from Cardinal to Pope, with his ascension on stage; he basically reborn as Papa Emeritus IV. I think it would be a nice analogy to Christmas. Blue is also connected to the celebrations of the Holy Mary… I don’t think I have to say more.
Papa III - Purple: Lent. It is the 40 days period before Easter, when christians celebrate death and resurrection of Jesus… are you thinking what I’m thinking? Plus, purple is also the color of grief (death) in Catholic Church.
Papa II - Green: Epiphany/Pentecost. The Epiphany indicates many events in Catholicism, in particular the arrival of the Magis at Jesus’ birth, the event of his baptism and the Cana Wedding (that is also a badass painting of Paolo Veronese that the Louvre should give us back, btw. It is one of my life’s missions. They can keep the Mona Lisa.). So we have a birth (Year Zero), the moment Jesus becomes the “son of God” (Jigolo Har Megiddo, to say one) and a feast with wine (Body and Blood…?). The Pentecost is even more interesting; it is celebrated seven Sundays after Easter to celebrate the descent of the Holy Spirit on the Apostles, event that marks the start of the Catholic Church. Now, in 1966 Anton LaVey and Kenneth Anger founded the Church of Satan, declaring that year the Year One. Ghost did the Year Zero, which I always thought was a refer to both the christian Year Zero and the satanic Year One. In both cases, a birth/start is involved, so the birth of the Antichrist as main theme is on point.
Papa I - Red/White: red for Holy Week/Pentecost, white for Christmas/Easter/Marriage. It is often said that Primo represents everything that’s holy, so a refer to the holiest of Christian festivities would make sense to me.
I haven’t gotten into all the details because there would be too much to say and analyze. I don’t know if TF has ever planned all this, maybe not - even if in a last year interview he said he was planning the color scheme of the new era, so it shouldn’t be completely casual-, especially with the first Papas, but even if he didn’t his ass is lucky enough to catch some cool coincidences.

I already knew that Seraphim of Sarov recommended what was essentially the Catholic Rosary as a prayer rule, but TIL that the Orthodox Church has its own set of fifteen mysteries (articulated by a Russian bishop, the martyr Saint Seraphim Zvezdinsky) which differs from the Catholic mysteries. They are:
The Nativity (of Mary)
The Presentation (of Mary) in the Temple
The Annunciation
The Visitation
The Nativity (of Christ)
The Presentation (of Christ) in the Temple
The Flight into Egypt
The Finding of Jesus in the Temple
The Wedding of Cana
The Crucifixion of Christ
The Resurrection of Christ
The Ascension of Christ
The Descent of the Holy Spirit
The Bodily Assumption of Mary
The Coronation of Mary
So we have a type of Rosary that is actually a little more Mary-centric than the Catholic version, with two mysteries that occur before the Incarnation of Christ. It's also, at first glance at least, a little less organized than the Catholic Rosary; the last five are essentially the Catholic Glorious Mysteries, and all fit together because they follow the Passion of Our Lord. There isn't really a way to split the first ten into two discrete groups without doing violence to the structure of the devotion, however.

My next post in support of Ukraine is:
Next site, the Church of Christ's Resurrection (Церква Воскресіння Христового) in Foros, Crimea. It dates from 1892. After the "russian" Revolution, the church was closed & its priest was exiled to Siberia. It was turned into a snackbar for tourists up until 1969, then was unused & empty through the 70/80s. It was finally returned to the Orthodox Church. It became a popular place for weddings & has the dubious honor of being the place where traitor to Ukraine Viktor Medvedchuk was married to Oksana Marchenko in 2003.

Mary thoughts from the Monastery
soooooo in celebration of reaching the halfway point of the megarosary (!!! who would have thought) here are all the notes I made while I was in the monastery, in chronological order:
Day 12: glorious mysteries
Bad Christology leads to bad mariology
rejects that the Eucharist is Christ's Body -> rejection of Mary's sinlessness. Leviticus 7:19-20 states that one has to be clean to receive (eat) a sacrifice -> if we must be clean of (mortal) sin to receive the Eucharistic Sacrifice, then Mary must have been sinless to carry that same Body inside her for nine months
rejecting Christ as New Adam -> Mary cannot be New Eve
Ascension/Assumption are a typological return to Eden
If the salvific work of the cross is not atemporal, and thus the Mass is not that same sacrifice, then Mary cannot have been saved and made immaculate at the moment of her conception before the Crucifixion chronologically happened
Day 13: joyful mysteries
Struck with the image of an angel kneeling at the feet of the teenage Mary saying hail, full of grace
The Presentation -> adoration?
Does Mary purify the temple at the Presentation as Jesus blesses the water at His baptism? Neither needed purifying.
Days 15-17
waiting is hope -> how much time passed between the resurrection and the ascension, the ascension and pentecost, pentecost and the assumption?
Did Mary watch the disciples be martyred? -> did she have to keep going as her new children died
it hurts Mary to see the Body of Christ wounded -> both victims of abuse and the damage to the church itself
possible that this current era of church is a case of wheat separating from chaff -> build solid foundations
Day 20: sorrowful mysteries
"the Lord is with you" -> rather than her being with the Lord, or "with child"
Hail, full of grace -> state of grace as opposed to state of sin -> "The Grace-filled One"
to die is to live -> smaller, purer church
"I was punished, I was punished by the Lord-- but not doomed to die" -> the long penitential road for our sufferings and sins
Day 22: joyful mysteries
Thought: Mary is the only person on whose actions salvation has been dependant
her fiat enabled Christ to come as a human
the infant Christ in His humanity was dependant on her care for survival
Christ (God) came as man so we venerate His humanity specifically, as He chose it. Mary and her enabling role were also chosen by Him, therefore should be venerated
The Purification/Presentation seems to mimic Christ's baptism -> why does Christ, being sinless, need to be baptised? to sanctify the waters. Why does Mary, being pure, need to be purified? to sanctify the Temple. But Mary herself has no power to sanctify-- she presents Christ, who sanctifies. But Christ, being a baby, could not get to the Temple of His own accord, nor had any conception of what was going on. He needed Mary to enable this passage of grace.
The Visitation-- Christ causes John the Baptist to quicken, but the circumstances of the Visitation happen only by Mary's choice to visit Elizabeth. She carries the power of God within herself, but has no power of her own.
This pattern continues at the Wedding in Cana
Given this-- is it not fitting that her role as a mediatrix be continued in Heaven? If we still venerate Christ's humanity, specifically chosen, as a continued aspect of this personhood, then is Mary's specifically chosen role as a mediator of Christ's power not also an eternal, specifically chosen role worthy of veneration?

> Hyacinth ~ Blooms of Affection
Hyacinths grow from underground bulbs that are planted in the fall. Each spring, the bulbs send up green leaves followed by their colorful flowers. They have spire-like stems with one to three spikes of flowers and narrow, strap-shaped leaves. With the proper care, a single bulb can bloom for multiple years.
The name, from the Arabic zargoun, means vermilion and is associated with Zircon: a gemstone. This stone can wear all colors of the spectrum. Although blue is one of the rarest and because of it, his stone is often confused with sapphires, quartz or topaz. In Revelation 21:20, one of the twelve foundation stones of the New Jerusalem is hyacinth.
The flower is believed to have originated in the Middle East and gained popularity in Europe in the 16th century. Hyacinths are robust blooms that can grow from Mediterranean regions to colder European climates. This adaptability has contributed to their widespread cultivation.
Hyacinths are well-known for their strong, sweet, and slightly earthy fragrance. Each variety actually comes with a unique scent, often described as rich and floral, with a hint of green freshness. It’s a smell that’s associated with the arrival of spring. Despite of their vibrant colors and uplifting fragrance, be aware that the bulbs contain oxalic acid, which is toxic.
Primarly used to welcome spring and celebrate Easter, Hyacinth flower bouquets can be a thoughtful gift for birthdays or anniversaries, symbolizing the constant love between individuals. They are a great way to bring cheer to someone who needs it, making them a good choice for ‘get well soon’ flowers.
Lore
Greek mythology: Apollo, the sun god, and Zephyr, the wind god, were both trying to win the affection of a young man, Hyacinthus. The boy tragically died while playing discus with Apollo. Zephyr actually got jealous and blew the discus back to Apollo with a strong gust of wind which backfired and accidentally killed Hyakinthos. Apollo used all sorts of herbs to heal Hyacinthus' wound, but it was futile, for he could not cure the wound inflicted by the Fates. Apollo wept for Hyacinthus' death and expressed his wish to become a mortal to join the Spartan boy in his death, going so far as to ask Hades to kill him. A flower emerged from the boy's blood and Apollo named it in his honor. Hyacinthus was eventually resurrected and attained immortality. The celebrations lasted three days (day1, mourning, day2, rebirth, day 3, "merry midnight festival"). This tale reflects the flower’s enduring symbolism of love, devotion, and the cycle of life and death.
Victorian era: Recreation and lightheartedness in Victorian flower language. These fragrant blooms were a common sight in home gardens, bringing hope for brighter days.
Modern Times: Placed on the graves of loved ones to honor their memory, they are proof of enduring love that transcends mortality. Additionally, potted hyacinth plants are cherished gifts for housewarmings and weddings.
Iran: The hyacinth plays a significant role in the celebration of Nowruz, the Persian New Year. It's one of the seven symbolic items (Haft Seen) displayed during the festivities, representing the coming of spring and rebirth.
Asia: In China, hyacinth flowers are believed to usher in good luck and prosperity during the Chinese New Year. In Japan, the hyacinth is a symbol of friendship and affection.
Religion: In Christianity, hyacinths are used to decorate churches, and they symbolize peace, beauty, and joy. In Islam, hyacinths symbolize death, loss, and mourning. They also embody humility since they grow in small clusters without flashy displays. In Buddhism, the hyacinth is a symbol of detachment from the material world. It serves as a reminder to focus on things that matter, encouraging a spiritual perspective on life. In Hinduism, the hyacinth flower symbolizes wealth, prosperity, and abundance.
Symbolism
They come in a variety of colors, each one carries its own fragrance and unique symbolism, making the hyacinth a versatile flower for expressing a range of sentiments. However, it’s important to take note that the symbolism of these hyacinth colors are quite different from those of many other flowers, there are flowers for every element of the emotional spectrum.
White Hyacinth offers prayers and represents loveliness. Due to its association with the Greek sun god Apollo, it can represent strength and majesty. They can be a good way to let someone know you’re wishing them well during a big life transition or challenging moment.
Sincerity, loyalty, care, blue hyacinth symbolizes constancy most of all, meaning the feelings of love and deep care will remain intact no matter what.
While yellow hyacinths can be tied to a sense of envy, might it be jealousy or as a compliment for their achievements, purple hyacinthes is a sigh that we recognize we’ve made a mistake and want to express remorse. They are a sincere apology and a desire for forgiveness. They could also be reflection and remembrance; expressing feelings of sadness, grief, and apology.
Pink hyacinth represents playfulness often takes part in celebration, all in fun and games in some lightheartedness.
If you look at rose and tulip symbolism you’ll find that red flowers are often symbols of intense, passionate love. But it’s a bit different for red hyacinths. These flowers can be linked to love, yes, but a more playful and light kind. They send the message that you’re looking to enjoy yourself.
Finally, as one of the earliest flowers to bloom in spring, they are often poking through the last remnants of snow. This makes them a symbol of rebirth and renewal. Additionally, it can mean starting anew and enduring tough times. The bulb of a hyacinth sleeps in the winter and blooms in the spring, showing strength, renewal, and the ability to get through challenges.
Tumblr media
There you go! I believe this flower is both perfect for Qiao Ling and is good insight on the show as a whole.
You can read the post about Myotosis and Daisies here.
In conclusion, I would bring your attention on the fact Qiao Ling, Lu Guang and Cheng Xiao's flowers are all about lost love and remembrance but often with one hope, one desperate attempt to reach our love one's heart. They are adaptable and cannot wait for spring to come so they can enjoy life again, despite the challenge it puts on their path.

Conner has done a great job of explaining how and why Jesus apeared to be a sorcerer or magician, as well as shedding light on one of the major reasons the Pharisees were perecuting him. Having spent time in Egypt, land of Egyptian Magick, where he also met Mary Magdalene, a Temple Priestess in the huge Alexandrian church (run by John the Baptist no less), he returned to his homeland (after spending 20 years in Egypt) where he had learned some basic tricks of the Magicians there. Jesus was not a sorcerer per se, it is just that the way he did his miracles looked like the way the Egyptian Magicians did it -- spitting (twice according to Mark) to give the blind man sight -- would not The God just speak the healing, or touch the man's forehead... why spit in the dirt? This is all better explored and exapanded on in Hegland's book Anunnakki Endgame III which goes into the backstpry of Jesus, Mary, John the Baptist, Paul and the creation of the New Testament (NT). Hegland also shares that he had the advantage of a Jewish Rabbi to explain scenarios in the NT and the Wedding at Cana is a real surprise. Key to the whole overall backstory is what the Piso Family in Rome was up to, and unfortunately Conner is not (yet) aware of that side of the story, but Hegland exposes it and connects the dots. You really need both Connor's and Hegland's books to get the whole picture... one expands the other.
‘Jesus the Sorcerer’ gets a ‘5’ just for putting ‘Jesus’ and ‘Sorcerer’ in the same sentence and title while being one of the very, very few to step into the huge footprints of Morton Smith (‘Jesus the Magician’). Conner doesn’t just repeat Morton’s focus on the pagan and Jewish witness of Jesus but rather does a better job on all the contemporary historical-critical issues of the New Testament ( a la Bart Ehrman) as well as a more complete comparison with the Greek magical papayri. Conner even extends his analysis to Paul who he dismisses as “concerned only with convincing”, Clement of Alexandria and Origen who admitted to keeping secrets, and early church theologians who were busy cursing their opponents (in good Egyptian magical tradition).
The book also gets a ‘5’ for its comprehensive and insightful Greek scholarship. The Jewish trial accusations against Jesus of “deceiver” and “imposter” are easily decoded as “sorcerer” as well as the accusation in Luke of “perverting our people”. The Spirit descending “on” Jesus like a dove is re-written in Matthew and Luke as “upon” so as to not give the impression Jesus is channeling or being ‘adopted’ at that point. Conner explains insightfully that the ‘Beloved Disciple’ who is “lying against Jesus” often translated in his “bosom” actually can refer to being in his “lap”.
Conner also gets a ‘5’ for his superb scholarship. His footnotes are as long as his chapters, however his chapters are mercifully short. He easily makes the overall point that there is virtually no difference between magic (which he succinctly defines as ‘religion that works’) and Christian prayer, exorcism, miracles, casting lots for the replacement of Judas, and using ‘black magic’ against their opponents. He notes that Luke screwed up using the “finger of God” phrase since it goes back to magical papyri and sorcerer opponents of Moses. Magical techniques Jesus used most often referenced in Mark are using spit, groaning, looking up to the sky, using special words of power, and dramatics. He insightfully recognizes that the power of Jesus was magical in that it had no moral or personal quality to it since it adhered to his very clothing—and, later the same idea transferred into the veneration of relics. He also perceives that Paul really had an adoptionist theology. Jesus was “appointed” son of God at the Resurrection using several quotes from Romans and Acts.
Conner even ventures into the area of Secret Mark and makes a great case that its depiction of Lazarus being roused out of the tomb and spending the next six days with Jesus in the home of Lazarus before a secret initiation was the original Mark with the current versions in Mark and the Gospel of John being the cover-up. Conner also makes a decent argument that Lazarus is the ‘Beloved Disciple’ of John but does not convince me since the same circumstantial argument could be made for Mary Magdalene who he unfairly consigns to the second century rumor bin.
The book is a worthy companion to ‘Jesus the Magician’ but its biggest failing is taking modern scholarship too seriously in portraying Jesus as a failed end times prophet and keeping Gnosticism at arms-length in the second century. Paul was actually the end-times prophet and his Herodian family and friends who penned the four Roman gospels followed his lead. Jesus was actually a mystery school teacher who taught soul travel as one can see clearly from the Dialogue of the Savior that scholars agree is first century material. The Gospel of Thomas is obviously a crypto-gnostic work of the first century as well since the Gospel of John was so clearly written to counteract it by embarrassing Thomas, saying that you can’t follow Jesus in soul travel, and that all one has to do is believe in the new Logos theology. A 2014 book called ‘The Lost Gospel’ also does a scholarly job of fixing the allegory of ‘Joseph and Asenath’ in the first century as a Jewish-Christian gnostic work about Jesus and Mary Magdalene. All these issues are covered in my book of 2013 on Amazon called ‘The Samaritan Jesus’.

" Hoss, I want you to pray to your god. I want you to pray that he comes and saves you. I want lightning to come down and crash upon my fuckin' head! "
-> So you're a little devil, huh? Come to drag me and my kin to Hell? Well, not today, Satan!
Martha headcanon dump / Interest check. Drop a 🩸 in the replies if you have interest interacting with her, and if you're a multimuse yourself, let me know who you want me to toss her at.
Born in dark baptism of blood and raised in cannibalism & devil worship, Martha is deeply entrenched in damnation and has never desired any other sort of way of being. This is how she is, pure, brutal, raw, sadistic, and hungry for pain and torment. She is an evil soul looking to make the best of her life and live in hedonism, pure and simple.
Her particular worship involves Mammon, Asmodeus, Beelzebub, Lucifer, Satan, and a little bit of Lilith. These are the ones who have called to her as her prime sins are Greed, Lust, Gluttony, Pride, and Wrath. However, even if she does worship and offer tribute to them, there's not always someone on the other line - she does get left on read quite often by some of them.. namely Lucifer, who wants little to nothing to do with Sinners in the first place. Still, she calls, and gets aggravated when he doesn't answer. Later I would like to do a post for what she does in regards for her worship of these Infernals, but for now this is what I got. uvu
Martha is not exclusive in her selection of course, she is very open to work with many demons who catch her ear and tempt her with their call. Any who are willing to work with her, any who she might have caught the eye of have a very good chance of working with her. She is willing to do a great many hideous things, she has no restraint except for her family. Speaking of..
Martha is a serial black widower - or, well, she was. There's a long trail of dead vows hanging from her wedding band, tons of hearts of thirsty & lecherous wealthy men left 'pon on her altar to the delicious King Asmodeus ( 'the one true man who knows how to really please a woman.' ). The husband-killing stopped when Ralphie just would not fuckin' die! She tried everything; poisoning, concussions, hitting him with her car, drowning him after hitting him with a motorboat, and straight up electrocuting his ass in the bathtub.
She finally stopped trying when he caught her shotgun shells in his teeth. Man's hardy and is sickly, deeply, twistedly, and hopelessly in love with Martha, and she finally came to respect and admire that, even more so when she began introducing him to the darker aspects of her life such as cannibalism, human taxidermy, and ritualistic killings. She gained a partner-in-crime, true and honest. What she has for him isn't really true love as much as it is a very deep affection and attraction, and he doesn't mind, so long as they can keep on keeping on. They both popped out a couple of children, and the rest is history.
Excellent cook, excellent baker, excellent little house wife who serves up the image of a godly woman quite well. She saves face by going to church on Sundays just to spend her Sunday nights doing very special dark rituals. Duality of woman!
Very vivid in her sexuality. She has a taste for both men and women (bisexual).
While in Hell, she is veeeery curious who it is that got that hit put on her. There's a damn good many who would want her dead, so she doesn't right away suspect only Mayberry. She sees this as some business as deathright to wrap up. She has her ear out. That said, of course Martha is happy in Hell, this is where she wanted to be! She just wasn't ready yet. She wanted to live longer, so revenge is definitely on the mind.
Has a lovely two story cabin in Hell that she and Ralphie both slaughtered the previous owners of and claimed dominion over with their children. The owners, once resurrected, sure learned to stop coming back and left the property well alone.
She is a lovely neighbor of Cannibal Town. Enjoys the festivities a lot! Very active participant in the community even though she doesn't live within the city limits exactly, just somewhere outside of them. Seeks to make a nice relationship with Rosie. :)
The idea of becoming an Overlord is intriguing to her, and it's an idea she is definitely playing around with. For now, her soul belongs to no one.
Martha is still very much into the Kings and Queens she worshiped while she was alive and even has altars to them! Still pays tribute and still carries out rituals in their names. That part of her isn't going away.
I am playing with her from when she was alive and while she is in Hell. Both are going to be fun. :]
Drawing inspiration from .. Tiffany Valentine, Rob Zombie's music and bits of his movies ( "I am the Devil, and I am here to do the Devil's work." ) , and Texas Chainsaw.
Please note: This is devil worship done in the stereotypical Hellaverse & Horror Movies way with a little more knowledge of the actual demons - this is not an accurate depiction of the followings of these actual Infernal Divines.

The anniversary of my brother's death is coming up, and 3 years later I'm shocked at how the grief can creep up and swallow me still. If I think about him more than in passing I still weep. I'm still overwhelmed by the absence of his belly laugh and mischievous grin. I still feel rage creep up when I think about how unfair it all is; his 3 young children were too small to have personal memories of him, and must subsist on what we show and tell them. His beloved wife only got 5 years with him total - some people get 60. Our view into God's plan is so narrow, I know, I really do, but still, why him?
CJ was something else. A real gen-u-ine cowboy. Tough hands, crinkly eyes, and an ever present grin. Quite the dancer. A heck of a card player. An even better choir singer. He was never short on jokes or belly laughs. The best darn bow hunting partner I'll ever have. And gosh he loved his wife; the sun rose and set on her from the moment they memorably met (she slapped his rear end on a dare during a rodeo and told him to quote "giddy up cowboy"; they were wed 18 months later). He was an incredibly doting father who insisted on doing the late night feedings because work kept him so busy in the daytime. And most of all he was a true Christian who shared God's Word with most anyone who would listen and loved his neighbors.
Every year I approach being older than he ever was. 24 years and 18 days, 6 hours and 32 minutes (I'm sure Mama knows the seconds.) It's unnatural to grow older than your big brother, and each of us younger siblings marches toward it; my sister surpassed him recently and fell into hysterics once she realized. The clock now looms over me like the shadow of death itself.
It was a farm accident. A freak thing. Everyone tried their best to save him; first his wife, then the neighbors, then local EMTs, a flight nurse and a paramedic, countless nurses and doctors and specialists from The Big City. They all wept with us as he took his final breaths, surrounded by more people than the hospital was technically supposed to let in. It took him an excruciatingly long time to pass on once support was pulled, and his heart only finally slowed and stopped when his wife assured him "I've got this CJ, don't worry, I've got the kids and the cows, you go on home now".
I can't even type that without shaking.
I hardly knew her before they wed, and not much more before he passed away. She became much more than the mother of my nieces in the wake of his death; she's well and truly one of the strongest people I know, and a true sister to me. I'll never be able to thank her enough for giving him peace enough to let go in his final moments. She's not much of a dancer or a card player, and she can't so much as hit the side of a broad barn with a bow, but I like singing with her in church, and she's helping me learn to quilt now.
I read somewhere that grief is just love with no place to go. So tonight as my throat aches with thoughts of CJ, I'll pour out some of this love. Into my dogs, my horses, my plants, my nieces, my sister-in-law, my sister-in-law's new boyfriend, and God, who I know is in control and has a Plan, who has overcome the grave, and whose will I submit to even if at this moment it's painful. Because I know He keeps His promises.

And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die."
