The Rating System

Hi! I saw a couple of people ask about the Cute Scale, and I'd like something to link back to when some rockswallower decides to tell me that I misrated something.

Here's the scale:

CUTE

All animals are cute!!! Most humans, too!! A post is rated "cute" when it depicts an animal in a safe and healthy environment performing activities that are natural and pleasant for it. There are a couple of exceptions, but most stuff should be in this category.

MAYBE CUTE

Sometimes, something seems fishy, but it's not obvious what it means. A post is rated "maybe cute" when the content itself looks fun and enriching, but there are circumstantial indications of abuse or neglect. Examples include a dog playing in a dog park where the dog has seemingly untreated mange, or a pet in a situation where it can only be safe with proper monitoring. Basically, whether the post is cute or worrying depends on something off-screen.

NOT CUTE

This is our rating if something is obviously wrong. We all like to laugh at cats hissing, but cats hiss as a sign of distress. Most people are bad at reading animal body language, too, so they might post a picture of a "smiling" monkey not realizing that the monkey feels very threatened. That's not cute, that's sad.

UNSURE

Sometimes, I just don't know. Usually, I'll rate a video with "unsure" and then @ a field expert who understands a particular class of animal better. For example, I am not equipped to tell if a moth is in distress.

SOME OTHER NOTES:

I incorporate the safety of any handlers or photographers involved into my rating! I will never mark a video cute if the cameraman is unsafe!

I also do my best with due diligence. If a photo is of a healthy, happy looking animal but the owner has known scandals attached, I won't rate it cute.

Just,,,The idea of Bakugou liking getting kidnapped or held for ransom by shitty villains on occasion just to rile reader up is very funny to me. Like most of the time, reader is just a sweet mid-low rank support hero until Bakugou is involved and then it's like a switch flip to vigilante mode that he loves.

Bank Robber: I'll let the hostages go in exchange for a Pro-Hero!

and then 15 minutes later Bakugou's doing stretches in a quirk collar because he knows you're gonna spend the next week staking your claim on him after your feral ass beats the everloving shit out of the unfortunate villainous bastard

thinking about how leland would not get tattoos except for in dire verses… mostly he gets flowers, marigolds and roses (in nosy he gets the plants and flowers maria associates with him, also probably a stag head somewhere). in the good end type trajectories, there’s one where he gets goldfinches, for connie, and one where he gets a starry sky and the north star, for danny.

OK i just have to ask the crowd- do a lot of you feel like every day is a struggle against your appetite? like your next meal or snack is always on your mind, and your entire day is built around when and what you're eating? like a full meal is nothing but an appetizer, and it just unlocks your food drive, so when you finish it, you just want even more food? like you can always eat something tasty no matter how much food is in your stomach?

I just learned John Carney was mean and sexist to Keira about Begin Again and that he also considered ScarJo for the part and I'm 100% convinced he resented Keira bc she wouldn't let the movie be sexist. If ScarJo had done it it probably would have become a movie about every woman being in love with Mark Ruffalo like that possibility is over the shoulder of the movie at all times but Keira Knightley said no I am going to literally die and reincarnate into this role and live her life with so much authenticity on camera that her spirit is literally beaming out of my eyeballs and it will be impossible for the movie to be sexist as a result

And John Carney was mad about that evidently but like the movie is so good

…Maybe the paperweight I stole from my aunt. She threw it at me the evening I told her that I wasn’t staying after an injury. There isn’t anything particularly special about it really - just the reminder that things were really over.
